Believe it or not, Marshal, I believe in talk therapy, basic interpersonal skills. I have this radical idea that if you treat a patient with respect and listen to what he's trying to tell you, you just might reach him. (87) ~ Dennis Lehane
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Dennis Lehane
I accepted that I was wired differently than most people, or, more precisely, that my wiring was toward one end of a spectrum of different human configurations. My innate logical skills were significantly greater than my interpersonal skills. ~ Graeme Simsion

Interpersonal Skills quotes by Asa Don Brown
It takes a certain skill set to be partnered. You have the biological knowledge of the machine. What are the parts, where are they located, how do they work, what do they do? Then there is your intellectual understanding about sex, in history, what you believe about sex, what you were taught about sex. Then there's you intrapersonal skill, your relationship with yourself. Then there are interpersonal skills. ~ Nina Hartley
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Nina Hartley
Whether or not we belong to a church or service organization or have a job that provides meaningful service opportunities, not a day goes by that we can't at least serve one other human being by making deposits of unconditional love. ~ Stephen Covey

Here is just the beginning of a list of skills that exam results cannot possibly hope to reflect: interpersonal skills, the ability to entertain, how articulate we are as speakers, our ability to work as part of a team, the ability to deal with challenges and invention. ~ Alexandra Adornetto
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Alexandra Adornetto
To a degree that we seldom realize, we depend upon the participation of others in our lives, and upon our own participation in the lives of others. Our success and effectiveness as persons is based upon this participation, and upon an ability to maintain a controlling competence in communicating with others. ~ Roy Wagner
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Roy Wagner

Interpersonal Skills quotes by Star Trek: The Next Generation Episode Guide Team
In 1970 the top three skills required by the Fortune 500 were the three Rs: reading, writing, and arithmetic. In 1999 the top three skills in demand were teamwork, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. We need schools that are developing these skills. ~ Linda Darling-Hammond
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Linda Darling-Hammond
Communication can be sent or received through verbal or nonverbal cues. ~ Asa Don Brown
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Asa Don Brown
We must not let the actions or words of others determine our responses. Magnanimous people make the choice to respond to the indignities of others based upon their own principles and their own value system rather than their moods or anger. ~ Stephen Covey
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Stephen Covey
It is essential that children who are directly or indirectly affected by domestic violence receive psychological care. ~ Asa Don Brown
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Asa Don Brown
Her antipathy towards Strike seemed to have evaporated. He was not surprised; he had met the phenomenon many times. People liked to talk; there were very few exceptions; the question was how you made them do it. Some, and Ursula was evidently one of them, were amenable to alcohol; others liked a spotlight; and then there were those who merely needed proximity to another conscious human being. ~ Robert Galbraith
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Robert Galbraith
If the way you've been treating me is a mark of fondness, maybe you'd better take a fresh look at your interpersonal communication skills. ~ Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Treat them all the same by treating them differently. ~ Stephen R. Covey
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Stephen R. Covey
Dr. Brown's book is able to make the subject matter interesting in a very pragmatic way, without losing the attractiveness and appeal of his academic writing and sound background. I would recommend the use of this book for teaching in leadership, management and organizational behavior courses knowing that it would make a great contribution to the learning experience of the reader."

Interpersonal Skills quotes by Yesung
There's a popular concept of 'intelligence' as book smarts, like calculus or chess, as opposed to, say, social skills. So people say that 'it takes more than intelligence to succeed in human society.' But social skills reside in the brain, not the kidneys. ~ Eliezer Yudkowsky
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Eliezer Yudkowsky
And so Harry became proficient in the task of cleaning up vomit. ~ Julia Quinn
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Julia Quinn
the discursivity of games is changed by the capabilities of game engines. The kinds of works, and the nature of these works, have material and functional limitations and capabilities-the unit operations the game engine exposes. These limitations and capabilities influence the kind of discourse the works can create, the ways they create them, and the ways users interact with them. For better or worse, the capabilities of game engines have been limited to visual and physical experience, rather than emotional and interpersonal experience. ~ Ian Bogost
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Ian Bogost
I had no idea what I was paying James, but based on his picnic-assembling skills alone, he needed a raise. ~ Lish McBride
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Lish McBride
A cardinal principle of Total Quality escapes too many managers: you cannot continuously improve interdependent systems and processes until you progressively perfect interdependent, interpersonal relationships. ~ Stephen Covey
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Stephen Covey
Young men ... learn practical skills that set is in good stead for lives as the husbands of wealthy and educated women: Strong Handshakes, Silence, Rudimentary Car Mechanics, How to Mow the Lawn, Explosive Displays of Authority, Sport and Nutrition Against Impotance. ~ Helen Oyeyemi
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Helen Oyeyemi
Teaching 23-year-olds in an MBA programme strikes me as largely a waste of time. They lack the background of experience. You can teach them skills - accounting and what have you - but you can't teach them management. ~ Peter Drucker
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Peter Drucker
Life is so complicated a game that the devices of skill are liable to be defeated at every turn by air-blown chances, incalculable as the descent of thistle-down. ~ George Eliot
Interpersonal Skills quotes by George Eliot
As emotional radars, empaths instantly pick up on the vibes around them and tend to gravitate the most towards those who are hurting – even if they're not in a good place. Their intense desire to help and soothe the pain of others often results in a whole range of interpersonal and inner issues. ~ Mateo Sol
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Mateo Sol
Unless the chemist learns the language of mathematics, he will become a provincial and the higher branches of chemical work, that require reason as well as skill, will gradually pass out of his hands. ~ Alexander Crum Brown
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Alexander Crum Brown
Emotional leakage refers to emotional information that we pass on to others through our body language. This information might be conveyed unintentionally, through a threatening gaze, a haughty stare, or a cold or aloof manner. These micro-expressions may be fleeting, but audiences are able
to detect them. Guard against emotional leakage. ~ Bruna Martinuzzi
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Bruna Martinuzzi
The Mayor, Aldermen and Councilors of the City of Nauvoo, IL, before entering upon the duties of their office, shall take and subscribe an oath or affirmation that they will support the Constitution of the United States, and of this State and that they will well and truly perform the duties of their offices to the best of their skill and abilities. ~ Joseph Smith Jr.
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Joseph Smith Jr.
Better we raise our skill than lower the climb ~ Royal Robbins
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Royal Robbins
No, I wouldn't direct a movie, no. I couldn't. I don't have the patience for it, I don't have the people skills. You have to be clever. I'm not really clever in that kind of way. And you have to be able to manipulate people, but at the same time allow them to feel like they are manipulating you, to get the kind of movie that you want. ~ Nick Cave
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Nick Cave
Visualization is basically the process of making a movie in your mind. You want to see yourself in many different situations, using your martial arts skills or your de-escalation skills to walk away from specific conflicts victoriously. The key to successful visualization is that you always see yourself being victorious. You don't want to visualize yourself screwing up or making mistakes. Visualizing yourself losing or messing up, is like practicing your martial arts skills incorrectly, over and over again. ~ Bohdi Sanders
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Bohdi Sanders
It is for the most part in our skill in manners, and in the observations of time and place and of decency in general, that what is called taste by way of distinction consists; and which is in reality no other than a more refined judgment. ~ Edmund Burke
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Edmund Burke
Never confuse emotivism for critical thinking skills. ~ Bobby Darnell
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Bobby Darnell
When clients relinquish symptoms, succeed in achieving a personal goal, or make healthier choices for themselves, subsequently many will feel anxious, guilty, or depressed. That is, when clients make progress in treatment and get better, new therapists understandably are excited. But sometimes they will also be dismayed as they watch the client sabotage her success by gaining back unwanted weight or missing the next session after an important breakthrough and deep sharing with the therapist. Thus, loyalty and allegiance to symptoms - maladaptive behaviors originally developed to manage the "bad" or painfully frustrating aspects of parents - are not maladaptive to insecurely attached children. Such loyalty preserves "object ties," or the connection to the "good" or loving aspects of the parent. Attachment fears of being left alone, helpless, or unwanted can be activated if clients disengage from the symptoms that represent these internalized "bad" objects (for example, if the client resolves an eating disorder or terminates a problematic relationship with a controlling/jealous partner). The goal of the interpersonal process approach is to help clients modify these early maladaptive schemas or internal working models by providing them with experiential or in vivo re-learning (that is, a "corrective emotional experience"). Through this real-life experience with the therapist, clients learn that, at least sometimes, some relationships can be different and do not have to follow th ~ Edward Teyber
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Edward Teyber
Kindness is a currency that can cover a multitude of interpersonal debts. ~ George Alexiou
Interpersonal Skills quotes by George Alexiou
Knowing how to keep someone motivated and how to keep a connection are skills humans have learned and evolved over hundreds of thousands of years. A robot can't figure out whether you can do one more push-up, or how to motivate you to actually do it. ~ Erik Brynjolfsson
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Erik Brynjolfsson
There is a perception that because individuals with autism have challenges in the area of communication and social skills, they are not interested in having friends. This is not so. Adults with autism may be socially isolated, but it is not always indicative of a preference for solitude. ~ Chantal Sicile-Kira
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Chantal Sicile-Kira
I spent maybe a week all day every day working on the wall, my first legal wall because I was just so excited and it was nice to be able to chill and relax and work on the piece instead of doing it quickly and running from the cops or whatever. Then it just really grew from there. Other people saw it and appreciated the skill. ~ Alec Monopoly
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Alec Monopoly
In today's fast-changing world, it's not so much what you know anymore that counts, because often what you know is old. It is how fast you learn. That skill is priceless. ~ Robert T. Kiyosaki
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Robert T. Kiyosaki
Having a sous-chef with excellent cooking skills and a criminal mind is one of God's great gifts. ~ Anthony Bourdain
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Anthony Bourdain
Special people make their presence felt by their absence..:-) ~ Abha Maryada Banerjee
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Abha Maryada Banerjee
Most people who want to get ahead do it backward. They think, 'I'll get a bigger job, then I'll learn how to be a leader.' But showing leadership skill is how you get the bigger job in the first place. Leadership isn't a position, it's a process. ~ John C. Maxwell
Interpersonal Skills quotes by John C. Maxwell
In our blessed and mostly peaceful society we're not as familiar with courage as we once were. We ascribe the virtue to all manner of endeavors that only really require skill, fortitude and a little daring, the qualities Pat Tillman showed on the football field. Pat's best service to his country was to remind us all what courage really looks like, and that the purpose of all good courage is love. ~ John McCain
Interpersonal Skills quotes by John McCain
Although talent feels and looks predestined, in fact we have a good deal of control over what skills we develop, and we have more potential than we might ever presume to guess. ~ Daniel Coyle
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Daniel Coyle
It is possible, I think, to say that ... a Christian agriculture [is] formed upon the understanding that it is sinful for people to misuse or destroy what they did not make. The Creation is a unique, irreplaceable gift, therefore to be used with humility, respect, and skill. ~ Wendell Berry
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Wendell Berry
The great thing about bushcraft is that wherever you go, the skills go with you. ~ Ray Mears
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Ray Mears
Spices are like colors: if you mix them all together you get a taste that is akin to the colors black, dark brown, or grey. But if you mix spices judiciously and sparingly - as you would mix yellow and blue to make green - you get a wholly unexpected and beautiful flavor. ~ Clifford Cohen
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Clifford Cohen
When young people develop basic leadership and collaborative learning skills, they can be a formidable force for change. ~ Peter M. Senge
Interpersonal Skills quotes by Peter M. Senge
Rose: "I was testing dorm security. It sucks."
Dimitri: "You must be freezing. Do you want my coat?"
Rose: "I'm fine. What are you doing out here? Are you testing security too?"
Dimitri: "I am security. This is my watch."
Rose: "Well, good work. I'm glad I was able to help test your awesome skills."
