He who fails to know his real and true competitor shall never be able to give a good account of his stewardship in life! Your true and real competitor is your real and true solemn duty to your Maker! ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Stewardship quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Give God what's right, not what's left! ~ Adrian Rogers
Stewardship quotes by Adrian Rogers
Who so hath his mind on taking, hath it no more on what he taketh. ~ Michel De Montaigne
Stewardship quotes by Michel De Montaigne
A leader must be a good listener. He must be willing to take counsel. He must show a genuine concern and love for those under his stewardship. ~ James E. Faust
Stewardship quotes by James E. Faust
Our love for God is tested by the question of whether we seek Him or His gifts. ~ Ralph Washington Sockman
Stewardship quotes by Ralph Washington Sockman
What gives these corporations like CONOCO, SHELL, EXXON, DIASHAWA, ITT, RIO TINTO ZINC, and the WORLD BANK a right which supercedes or is superior to my human right to live on my land, or that of my family, my community, my nation, our nations, and to us as women? ~ Winona LaDuke
Stewardship quotes by Winona LaDuke
Sustainability, or fairness to the future, therefore involves the concept of stewardship, the idea that the living generation must be stewards of the earth's resources for the generations that will come later. That's a tough role to play. There is nothing natural or innate about it. We need to defend the interests of those whom we've never met and never will. Yet those are our descendants and our fellow humanity. Alas, it's a role that we've mostly ignored till now, to the increasing peril of all who will follow. The ~ Jeffrey D. Sachs
Stewardship quotes by Jeffrey D. Sachs
The quality of work we do is not just about bragging rights. It's about stewardship. ~ Brad Lomenick
Stewardship quotes by Brad Lomenick
If you want your prayers answered, you get off your knees and do the one thing you're praying someone else will do for you. ~ Shannon L. Alder
Stewardship quotes by Shannon L. Alder
Once you make a lot of money, it's incredibly enjoyable to give it away. It's a way to satisfy the soul. ~ Stanley Druckenmiller
Stewardship quotes by Stanley Druckenmiller
We do not need to plan or devise a "world of the future"; if we take care of the world of the present, the future will have received full justice from us. A good future is implicit in the soils, forests, grasslands, marshes, deserts, mountains, rivers, lakes, and oceans that we have now, and in the good things of human culture that we have now; the only valid "futurology" available to us is to take care of those things. We have no need to contrive and dabble at "the future of the human race"; we have the same pressing need that we have always had - to love, care for, and teach our children.
(pg. 73, "Feminism, the Body, and the Machine") ~ Wendell Berry
Stewardship quotes by Wendell Berry
The key word of the dedicated Christian should be 'give.' Charitable contributions speak eloquently of your unselfish Christian generosity. ~ Billy Graham
Stewardship quotes by Billy Graham
I believe in a sound, strong environmental policy that protects the health of our people and a wise stewardship of our nation's natural resources. ~ Ronald Reagan
Stewardship quotes by Ronald Reagan
I think the work in front of us is the first work task given our forbearers, which is to care for the garden. Now because it's the first thing commanded, maybe it's the first thing forgotten. But it is the first admonition and it is absolutely unequivocal. It is part of right livelihood. ~ Wes Jackson
Stewardship quotes by Wes Jackson
Let my assure you, Brethren, that some day you will have a personal Priesthood interview with the Savior, Himself. If you are interested, I will tell you the order in which He will ask you to account for your earthly responsibilities.

First, He will request an accountability report about your relationship with your wife. Have you actively been engaged in making her happy and ensuring that her needs have been met as an individual?

Second, He will want an accountability report about each of your children individually. He will not attempt to have this for simply a family stewardship but will request information about your relationship to each and every child.

Third, He will want to know what you personally have done with the talents you were given in the pre-existence.

Fourth, He will want a summary of your activity in your church assignments. He will not be necessarily interested in what assignments you have had, for in his eyes the home teacher and a mission president are probably equals, but He will request a summary of how you have been of service to your fellowmen in your Church assignments.

Fifth, He will have no interest in how you earned your living, but if you were honest in all your dealings.

Sixth, He will ask for an accountability on what you have done to contribute in a positive manner to your community, state, country, and the world. ~ David O. McKay
Stewardship quotes by David O. McKay
Avoid participating in any religious community where the clear truth-claims of Scripture are ignored while contemplative and mystical practices are favored simply for their spiritual experience. Be careful of any church or ministry wherein acts of mercy and environmental stewardship are devoid of a theology of the cross and wind up being little more than the worship of created people and things. And be careful not to worship a good thing as a god thing for that is a bad thing. ~ Mark Driscoll
Stewardship quotes by Mark Driscoll
Leadership is neither showmanship nor dictatorship. Leadership is a stewardship and a partnership. ~ Rick Warren
Stewardship quotes by Rick Warren
My belief is that what comes across on the television is a capture of my enthusiasm and my passion for wildlife. ~ Steve Irwin
Stewardship quotes by Steve Irwin
I think I owe it to myself and my fans in Britain to play one more Wimbledon. ~ Goran Ivanisevic
Stewardship quotes by Goran Ivanisevic
It is possible, I think, to say that ... a Christian agriculture [is] formed upon the understanding that it is sinful for people to misuse or destroy what they did not make. The Creation is a unique, irreplaceable gift, therefore to be used with humility, respect, and skill. ~ Wendell Berry
Stewardship quotes by Wendell Berry
What is about to happen is not the reclaiming of Earth by a triumphant Mother Nature, a karmic repudiation of humanity's arrogant ill stewardship. Nothing we ever did mattered one way or another. This event has always been in the cards for man's planet, for the whole scope of our history, coming regardless of what we did or didn't do. ~ Ben H. Winters
Stewardship quotes by Ben H. Winters
To image the being of God towards the world, to be the priest of creation, is to behave towards the world in all its aspects, of work, and of play, in such a way that it may come to be what it was created to be, that which praises its maker by becoming perfect in its own way. In all this, there is room for both usefulness and beauty to take their due place, but differently according to differences of activity and object. ~ Colin Gunton
Stewardship quotes by Colin Gunton
It is my hope and my belief that you will be able to report that I died with dignity, without animal fear and without bravado. I owe that much to myself. ~ Caryl Chessman
Stewardship quotes by Caryl Chessman
Giving is the vital impulse and moral center of capitalism. ~ George Gilder
Stewardship quotes by George Gilder
Our stewardship of the Earth is brief. We owe it to those who follow to keep that in perspective, to be responsible passengers along the way. ~ George H. W. Bush
Stewardship quotes by George H. W. Bush
The tithe is a wonderful goal but a terrible place to stop. ~ Bill Hybels
Stewardship quotes by Bill Hybels
Ours is a fall into greed: why do we think that everything on Earth belongs to us, while in reality we belong to Everything? We have betrayed the trust of the Animals, and defiled our sacred task of stewardship. ~ Margaret Atwood
Stewardship quotes by Margaret Atwood
Christian people should surely have been in the vanguard of the movement for environmental responsibility, because of our doctrines of creation and stewardship. Did God make the world? Does he sustain it? Has he committed its resources to our care? His personal concern for his own creation should be sufficient to inspire us to be equally concerned. ~ John Stott
Stewardship quotes by John Stott
A CRUNCHY CON MANIFESTO
1. We are conservatives who stand outside the conservative mainstream; therefore, we can see things that matter more clearly.
2. Modern conservatism has become too focused on money, power, and the accumulation of stuff, and insufficiently concerned with the content of our individual and social character.
3. Big business deserves as much skepticism as big government.
4. Culture is more important than politics and economics.
5. A conservatism that does not practice restraint, humility, and good stewardship - especially of the natural world - is not fundamentally conservative.
6. Small, Local, Old, and Particular are almost always better than Big, Global, New, and Abstract.
7. Beauty is more important than efficiency.
8. The relentlessness of media-driven pop culture deadens our senses to authentic truth, beauty, and wisdom.
9. We share Russell Kirk's conviction that "the institution most essential to conserve is the family. ~ Rod Dreher
Stewardship quotes by Rod Dreher
The fact is, America needs energy and new energy infrastructure, and the Keystone XL pipeline will help us achieve that with good stewardship. ~ John Hoeven
Stewardship quotes by John Hoeven
There is a price to be paid for fabricating around us a society which is as artifical and as mechanized as our own, and this is that we can exist in it only on condition that we adapt ourselves to it. This is our punishment. ~ Philip Sherrard
Stewardship quotes by Philip Sherrard
The fastest way to success is stewardship. ~ Sunday Adelaja
Stewardship quotes by Sunday Adelaja
Almost all these hotspots around the world, most have been destroyed to the point where there is no wildlife and very little of the natural world left. ~ Jim Fowler
Stewardship quotes by Jim Fowler
As believers, we all have the responsibility to leverage our wealth for kingdom purposes. ~ Andy Stanley
Stewardship quotes by Andy Stanley
As full and equal partners Adam and Eve were responsible to tend the garden, to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth, to subdue the earth, and to rule over the creatures. In other words, together they were given stewardship of the earth because they were equals. ~ Alan F. Johnson
Stewardship quotes by Alan F. Johnson
For better or worse, humans or our descendants will be responsible for life on Earth for the indefinite future. Despite the initially daunting technical challenges, the biggest obstacle to compassionate stewardship of the world's free-living nonhuman animal population is not technical or even financial but ideological. ~ David Pearce
Stewardship quotes by David Pearce
The race of mankind would perish did they cease to aid each other. We cannot exist without mutual help. All therefore that need aid have a right to ask it from their fellow-men; and no one who has the power of granting can refuse it without guilt. ~ Walter Scott
Stewardship quotes by Walter Scott
There is no ownership. There is only stewardship. ~ LeeAnn Taylor
Stewardship quotes by LeeAnn Taylor
The first requisite of stewardship is to give ourselves to God. Thus, a logical recognition of God's absolute ownership should follow. ~ Stephen F Olford
Stewardship quotes by Stephen F Olford
Capital is necessary to the cultivation of esthetic value. ~ Harold Bloom
Stewardship quotes by Harold Bloom
When a man becomes a Christian, he becomes industrious, trustworthy and prosperous. Now, if that man when he gets all he can and saves all he can, does not give all he can, I have more hope for Judas Iscariot than for that man! ~ John Wesley
Stewardship quotes by John Wesley
She always administered her charity with some view to the value of the probable return, - with some regard, that is, to the amount of good likely to result to others from the aid given to one. She always took into consideration whether the good was likely to be propagated, or to die with the receiver. She confessed to frequent mistakes; but such, she said, was the principle upon which she sought to regulate that part of her stewardship. ~ George MacDonald
Stewardship quotes by George MacDonald
We should remember Christ's words, 'Let nothing be wasted,' when we look in our refrigerators and garbage cans and garages. ~ Randy Alcorn
Stewardship quotes by Randy Alcorn
Whoever is gripped by God's spirit turns to his creation with all the interest that comes from God's love. ~ Eberhard Arnold
Stewardship quotes by Eberhard Arnold
Many men owe the grandeur of their lives to their tremendous difficulties. ~ Charles Spurgeon
Stewardship quotes by Charles Spurgeon
I feel like a child who has found a wonderful trail in the woods. Countless others have gone before and blazed the trail, but to the child it's as new and fresh as if it had never been walked before. The child is invariably anxious for others to join in the great adventure. It's something that can only be understood by actual experience. Those who've begun the journey, and certainly those who've gone further than I, will readily understand what I am saying. ~ Randy Alcorn
Stewardship quotes by Randy Alcorn
Discipline is not about the rules, it is about respect.
Its respect for those around you, the things you own and for yourself. Discipline is part of being a steward. ~ Janna Cachola
Stewardship quotes by Janna Cachola
As you give to fund God's needs, are you forced to trust Him to provide for yours? That's what a growing faith is about. And over the long haul, it's not enough just to commit to a percentage. Growth means reviewing your giving goals and occasionally increasing the percentage you give. ~ Andy Stanley
Stewardship quotes by Andy Stanley
Believe me, 'tis a godlike thing to lend; to owe is a heroic virtue. ~ Francois Rabelais
Stewardship quotes by Francois Rabelais
Stewardship is like that. I won't answer for the way another Christian mismanaged money. I won't be charged with another person's irresponsible consumption. Nor will I get credit for how another faith community shared or sacrificed luxuries for the marginalized. I'll answer for my choices. ~ Jen Hatmaker
Stewardship quotes by Jen Hatmaker
Abundance isn't God's provision for me to live in luxury. It's his provision for me to help others live. God entrusts me with his money not to build my kingdom on earth, but to build his kingdom in heaven. ~ Randy Alcorn
Stewardship quotes by Randy Alcorn
If I try to make only enough money for my family' immediate needs, it may violate Scripture ... Even though earning just enough to meet the needs of my family may seem nonmaterialistic, it's actually selfish when I could earn enough to care for others as well. ~ Randy Alcorn
Stewardship quotes by Randy Alcorn
We do not have any respect, let alone reverence, for the world of nature because we do not have any respect, let alone reverence, for ourselves. It is because we cripple and mutilate ourselves that we cripple and mutilate everything else as well. Our contemporary crisis is really our own depravity writ large. ~ Philip Sherrard
Stewardship quotes by Philip Sherrard
Whenever we have excess, giving should be our natural response. It should be the automatic decision, the obvious thing to do in light of Scripture and human need. ~ Randy Alcorn
Stewardship quotes by Randy Alcorn
Often, stepping outside your comfort zone is not careless irresponsibility, but a necessary act of obedience. ~ Andy Stanley
Stewardship quotes by Andy Stanley
Pastors can lead the way in motivating the faithful to wise stewardship of their citizenship responsibilities. Without a healthy culture and civil society, limited government and ordered liberty will be impossible. ~ Edwin Meese
Stewardship quotes by Edwin Meese
Hoarding is both unnecessary and an affront to God, who is perfectly capable of providing abundantly for those who trust in him. ~ Richard B. Hays
Stewardship quotes by Richard B. Hays
Theirs is an endless road, a hopeless maze, who seek for goods before they seek for God. ~ Bernard Of Clairvaux
Stewardship quotes by Bernard Of Clairvaux
The gift without the giver is rare. ~ James Russell Lowell
Stewardship quotes by James Russell Lowell
Watch out for these two kind of fears: the fear of God that gives courage and wisdom to overcome the fears in the world and to accomplish your God given mission distinctively, and the fear of the world that gives you excuses and hinders you from fulfilling your God given vision. No matter what, you shall give an account of your stewardship to God Almighty. There is no day like a day to do something in the day, for each day, you get closer to the journey's end! Feel the urgency to do something as long as you meet a new day! Have a true passion for living to accomplish your true mission! Step out each day like a wounded lion; noble, but not timid; meek, but not weak; courageous, but not proud; wise, but with understanding, and be determined to overcome all obstacles with an unstoppable mindset and wisdom, knowing that God is waiting for you at your journey's end to print the statement of how you took the journey to you. ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Stewardship quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
When I save, I lay something aside for future need. If I sense God's leading, I will give it away to meet greater needs. When I hoard, I'm unwilling to part with what I've saved to meet others' needs, because my possible future needs outweigh their actual present needs. I fail to love my neighbor as myself. ~ Randy Alcorn
Stewardship quotes by Randy Alcorn
The time is coming when each of us will have to give an account of our stewardship ~ Sunday Adelaja
Stewardship quotes by Sunday Adelaja
My dream of politics all my life has been that it is the common business, that it is something we owe to each other to understand and discuss with absolute frankness. ~ Woodrow Wilson
Stewardship quotes by Woodrow Wilson
The way to thrive is to help others thrive; the way to flourish is to help others flourish; the way to fulfill yourself is to spend yourself. ~ Cornelius Plantinga
Stewardship quotes by Cornelius Plantinga
The Earth is given as a common for men to labor and live in. ~ Thomas Jefferson
Stewardship quotes by Thomas Jefferson
Trust is the glue that holds everything together. It creates the environment in which all of the other elements win-win stewardship agreements, self-directing individuals and teams, aligned structures and systems, and accountability can flourish. ~ Stephen Covey
Stewardship quotes by Stephen Covey
No man should think himself a zero, and think he can do nothing about the state of the world. ~ Bernard Baruch
Stewardship quotes by Bernard Baruch
Life will either shrink or expand based on your decision to have courage. ~ Shannon L. Alder
Stewardship quotes by Shannon L. Alder
It is indeed fitting for me to make a comment to the effect that it takes a village to raise a child because I have lived in many villages down in deep south, and everyone there who played a part in my stewardship as a young man growing up and as a professional, they have given me unstinting support. ~ Anthony Carmona
Stewardship quotes by Anthony Carmona
For
the world is an ever-elusive and ever-disappointing mirage only from
the standpoint of someone standing aside from it - as if it were quite
other than himself - and then trying to grasp it.
But a third response is possible. Not withdrawal, not stewardship on
the hypothesis of a future reward, but the fullest collaboration with the
world as a harmonious system of contained conflicts - based on the
realization that the only real "I" is the whole endless process. ~ Alan W. Watts
Stewardship quotes by Alan W. Watts
Given our abundance, the burden of proof should always be on keeping, not giving. Why would you not give? We err by beginning with the assumption that we should keep or spend the money God entrusts to us. Giving should be the default choice. Unless there is a compelling reason to spend it or keep it, we should give it. ~ Randy Alcorn
Stewardship quotes by Randy Alcorn
If the Democrats feel they have lost the public's confidence in their stewardship of national security, then the threat of Iran offers a Hillary Clinton, Howard Dean, or John Kerry an opportunity to get out front now and pledge support for a united effort - attacking Bush from the right about too tepid a stance rather from the predictable left that we are 'hegemonic' and 'imperialistic' every time we use force abroad. ~ Victor Davis Hanson
Stewardship quotes by Victor Davis Hanson
Good stewardship of the environment is not just a personal responsibility, it is a public value ... Our duty is to use the land well, and sometimes not to use it at all. This is our responsibility as citizens, but more than that, it is our calling as stewards of the earth. ~ George W. Bush
Stewardship quotes by George W. Bush
If you do not give the tenth part to God, he will take the nine parts. ~ Ambrose
Stewardship quotes by Ambrose
Transparency, honesty, kindness, good stewardship, even humor, work in businesses at all times. ~ John Gerzema
Stewardship quotes by John Gerzema
Each layman must be his own apologist, responsible for his stewardship of the Gospel in his daily life and work. ~ William Stringfellow
Stewardship quotes by William Stringfellow
Ancient poets and sages have called the earth the mother of all things. They could hardly have chosen a more attractive name, or one that was more appropriate. From her lap springs everything that possesses life and motion, everything that flourishes, fades, and has its fated day, and she tirelessly provides material for the countless varied bodies that are created
and then abandoned
by the life force in its unending, hidden progress through nature. ~ Jonas Hallgrimsson
Stewardship quotes by Jonas Hallgrimsson
The only right stewardship is that which is tested by the rule of love. ~ John Calvin
Stewardship quotes by John Calvin
When then-New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer sued me in 2003 over my stewardship as a director of the New York Stock Exchange, the NYSE's legal expenses were more than $100 million, which made it perhaps the priciest litigation in the state's history. ~ Kenneth Langone
Stewardship quotes by Kenneth Langone
The first steps toward stewardship are awareness, appreciation, and the
selfish desire to have the things around for our kids to see. Presumably the
unselfish motives will follow as we wise up. ~ Barbara Kingsolver
Stewardship quotes by Barbara Kingsolver
I'll go back and take what the people owe me. ~ Mike Tyson
Stewardship quotes by Mike Tyson
It is worth living long enough to outlast whatever sense of grievance you may acquire. ~ Marilynne Robinson
Stewardship quotes by Marilynne Robinson
Never measure your generosity by what you give, but rather by what you have left. ~ Fulton J. Sheen
Stewardship quotes by Fulton J. Sheen
He best strategy for giving is a two-fold approach: a basic plan combined with a willingness to consider spontaneous giving when unique opportunities arise. ~ Andy Stanley
Stewardship quotes by Andy Stanley
The biophilia hypothesis is not your run-of-the-mill Berkeley/Al Gore/Eat Your Spinach environmentalism. It does not appeal directly to our sense of stewardship or responsibility. It appeals to a much more base, and common, human proclivity: selfishness. It says, in effect, protect the environment because it will make you happy. For a country like the United States, with the word "happiness" in its founding document, you'd think environmentalists would have latched on to biophilia a long time ago. ~ Eric Weiner
Stewardship quotes by Eric Weiner
All over the world the wildlife that I write about is in grave danger. It is being exterminated by what we call the progress of civilization. ~ Gerald Durrell
Stewardship quotes by Gerald Durrell
God comes right out and tells us why he gives us more money than we need. It's not so we can find more ways to spend it. It's not so we can indulge ourselves and spoil our children. It's not so we can insulate ourselves from needing God's provision. It's so we can give and give generously (2 Corinthians 8:14; 9:11) ~ Randy Alcorn
Stewardship quotes by Randy Alcorn
To turn the tide of materialism in the Christian community, we desperately need bold models of kingdom-centered living. Despite our need to do it in a way that doesn't glorify people, we must hear each other's stories about giving or else our people will not learn to give. ~ Randy Alcorn
Stewardship quotes by Randy Alcorn
Squash has been my life and I owe a lot to the sport. ~ Jahangir Khan
Stewardship quotes by Jahangir Khan
Stewardship is the hallmark of life on earth. ~ Sunday Adelaja
Stewardship quotes by Sunday Adelaja
My work at R.E.I. was incredibly fulfilling and rewarding, especially the stewardship elements of it, the ability to connect young people to public lands close to home. ~ Sally Jewell
Stewardship quotes by Sally Jewell
The rule of no realm is mine, neither of Gondor nor any other, great or small. But all worthy things that are in peril as the world now stands, those are my care. And for my part, I shall not wholly fail of my task, though Gondor should perish, if anything passes through this night that can still grow fair or bear fruit and flower again in days to come. For I also am a steward. Did you not know? ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Stewardship quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
We owe a lot to Thomas Edison-if it wasn't for him, we'd be watching television by candlelight. ~ Milton Berle
Stewardship quotes by Milton Berle
We are called to stand in for God here in the world, exercising stewardship over the rest of creation in his place as his vice regents. We share in doing the things that God has done in creation - bringing order out of chaos, creatively building a civilization out of the material of physical and human nature, caring for all that God has made. This is a major part of what we were created to be. . . . Work has dignity because it is something that God does and because we do it in God's place, as his representatives. ~ Timothy J. Keller
Stewardship quotes by Timothy J. Keller
Our view of nature will influence the way we treat nature, and our view of human nature will affect our understanding of human responsibility. ~ Ian Barbour
Stewardship quotes by Ian Barbour
God desires your increase in your leadership, stewardship, relationship, and business ~ Sunday Adelaja
Stewardship quotes by Sunday Adelaja
The earliest use of writing was strictly commercial and economic, not political or bureaucratic. It was trade, entrepreneurship, and stewardship of private property, not politics, "public education" or the creation of national mythology that allowed humankind to transition from prehistory to history. Just as trade, entrepreneurship, and stewardship of private property have always been on the forefront of civilization's advancement, so were they also the driving force behind civilization's emergence. ~ Jakub Bozydar Wisniewski
Stewardship quotes by Jakub Bozydar Wisniewski
A minister's (cabinet member's) function was not to DO the work but to see that it got done. ~ Barbara W. Tuchman
Stewardship quotes by Barbara W. Tuchman
Three hundred types of mussel, a third of the world's total, live in the Smokies. Smokies mussels have terrific names, like purple wartyback, shiny pigtoe, and monkeyface pearlymussel. Unfortunately, that is where all interest in them ends. Because they are so little regarded, even by naturalists, mussels have vanished at an exceptional rate. Nearly half of all Smokies mussels species are endangered; twelve are thought to be extinct.

This ought to be a little surprising in a national park. I mean it's not as if mussels are flinging themselves under the wheels of passing cars. Still, the Smokies seem to be in the process of losing most of their mussels. The National Park Service actually has something of a tradition of making things extinct. Bryce Canyon National Park is perhaps the most interesting-certainly the most striking-example. It was founded in 1923 and in less than half a century under the Park Service's stewardship lost seven species of mammal-the white-tailed jackrabbit, prairie dog, pronghorn antelope, flying squirrel, beaver, red fox, and spotted skunk. Quite an achievement when you consider that these animals had survived in Bryce Canyon for tens of millions of years before the Park Service took an interest in them. Altogether, forty-two species of mammal have disappeared from America's national parks this century. ~ Bill Bryson
Stewardship quotes by Bill Bryson
Compared to the rest of the world, it's like we're living in Disneyland. ~ David Servant
