Sometimes I get frustrated in traffic. I typically start going deep with my cab driver and Twitter feed - simultaneously - to take my mind off the gridlock. I enjoy live-tweeting my cab rides. ~ Andy Cohen
Cab Driver quotes by Andy Cohen
New York has made me so paranoid, too. Whenever I visit another city, I always act like I'm from there, so the cab driver doesn't rip me off. I'm always like, "Yeah, it's good to be back home. Back here where I grew up. Yeah. Here in Tokyo ... Uh, driver, I need to go to my old stomping grounds. That would be the Holiday Inn. And the address appears to be the pound sign." ~ Jim Gaffigan
Cab Driver quotes by Jim Gaffigan
The postman wants an autograph. The cab driver wants a picture. The waitress wants a handshake. Everyone wants a piece of you. ~ John Lennon
Cab Driver quotes by John Lennon
Through years of experience I've discovered that a liar will always look into his drink when telling a lie. But he doesn't have a drink in a cab, and even if he did I'd have no idea as to whether he were looking into it or not ~ Karl Wiggins
Cab Driver quotes by Karl Wiggins
Every songwriter lives to have at least one song that a cab driver who asks 'You write anything I know?' will recognize. ~ Rupert Holmes
Cab Driver quotes by Rupert Holmes
Democracy triumphed in the cold war because it was a battle of values - between one system that gave preeminence to the state and another that gave preeminence to the individual and freedom. Not long ago, I was told about an incident that illustrated this difference: An American scholar, on his way to the airport before a flight to the Soviet Union, got into a conversation with his cab driver, a young man who said that he was still getting his education. The scholar asked, "When you finish your schooling, what do you want to be, what do you want to do?" The young man answered, "I haven't decided yet." After the scholar arrived at the airport in Moscow, his cab driver was also a young man who happened to mention he was still getting his education, and the scholar, who spoke Russian, asked, "When you finish your schooling, what do you want to be, what do you want to do?" The young man answered: "They haven't told me yet. ~ Ronald Reagan
Cab Driver quotes by Ronald Reagan
You see, the Mets are losers, just like nearly everybody else in life. This is a team for the cab driver who gets held up and the guy who loses out on a promotion because he didn't maneuver himself to lunch with the boss enough. It is the team for every guy who has to get out of bed in the morning and go to work for short money on a job he does not like. And it is the team for every woman who looks up ten years later and sees her husband eating dinner in a t-shirt and wonders how the hell she ever let this guy talk her into getting married. The Yankees? Who does well enough to root for them, Laurence Rockefeller? ~ Jimmy Breslin
Cab Driver quotes by Jimmy Breslin
The meter said six pounds, so I passed a ten pound note through the window and watched a fifteen-second production of 'I'm Not Sure I've Got Change For That', starring licensed cab driver 99102, before getting out and heading back down the street. ~ Hugh Laurie
Cab Driver quotes by Hugh Laurie
It is hard to say what will happen to the people that pass in and out of life. A simple cab driver can be just a driver, or he can be the love of one's life. A woman on the street waiting for a ride could become a passenger, or something much deeper. In the end, you never know who you will meet or where. ~ Brooke Williams
Cab Driver quotes by Brooke Williams
Ishmael had the posture of a classic general; the intellect of a cab driver. ~ Jarrett McCall
Cab Driver quotes by Jarrett McCall
If you've ever rubbed shoulders with insanity, he is a sweaty, foul-breathed cab driver who locks the door and takes you wherever he wants. The more you squirm to get out, the happier he seems to get. Insanity loves- no, needs-company. ~ Jackson Galaxy
Cab Driver quotes by Jackson Galaxy
Anyway, a spokesman for Barack Obama says the prisoners that are released from Guantanamo will either be sent back to their home countries or enter the New York City cab driver training program. ~ Jay Leno
Cab Driver quotes by Jay Leno
Sometimes we're on a collision course, and we just don't know it. Whether it's by accident or by design, there's not a thing we can do about it. A woman in Paris was on her way to go shopping, but she had forgotten her coat - went back to get it. When she had gotten her coat, the phone had rung, so she'd stopped to answer it; talked for a couple of minutes. While the woman was on the phone, Daisy was rehearsing for a performance at the Paris Opera House. And while she was rehearsing, the woman, off the phone now, had gone outside to get a taxi. Now a taxi driver had dropped off a fare earlier and had stopped to get a cup of coffee. And all the while, Daisy was rehearsing. And this cab driver, who dropped off the earlier fare; who'd stopped to get the cup of coffee, had picked up the lady who was going to shopping, and had missed getting an earlier cab. The taxi had to stop for a man crossing the street, who had left for work five minutes later than he normally did, because he forgot to set off his alarm. While that man, late for work, was crossing the street, Daisy had finished rehearsing, and was taking a shower. And while Daisy was showering, the taxi was waiting outside a boutique for the woman to pick up a package, which hadn't been wrapped yet, because the girl who was supposed to wrap it had broken up with her boyfriend the night before, and forgot.

When the package was wrapped, the woman, who was back in the cab, was blocked by a delivery truck, all the whil ~ Eric Roth
Cab Driver quotes by Eric Roth
I had the cab driver drive me here backwards, and the dude owed me $27.50. ~ Mitch Hedberg
Cab Driver quotes by Mitch Hedberg
Yet the laboriously sought musical epiphany rarely compares to the unsought, even unwanted tune whose ambush is violent and sudden: the song the cab driver was tuned to, the song rumbling from the speaker wedged against the fire-escape railing, the song tingling from the transistor on the beach blanket. To locate those songs again can become, with age, something like a religious quest, as suggested by the frequent use of the phrase "Holy Grail" to describe hard-to-find tracks. The collector is haunted by the knowledge that somewhere on the planet an intact chunk of his past still exists, uncorrupted by time or circumstance. ~ Geoffrey O'Brien
Cab Driver quotes by Geoffrey O'Brien
Now this is over thirty years later and the guy said he was that cab driver. He apologized and he was serious. I felt awful. He might have been spending his whole life thinking he had jinxed me, but I told him he hadn't. My number was up. ~ Joe DiMaggio
Cab Driver quotes by Joe DiMaggio
Well, death says, as he walks by, I'm going to get you anyhow no matter what you've been: writer, cab-driver, pimp, butcher, sky-diver, I'm going to get you ~ Charles Bukowski
Cab Driver quotes by Charles Bukowski
Make for yourself a world you can believe in.
It sounds simple, I know. But it's not. Listen, there are a million worlds you could make for yourself. Everyone you know has a completely different one - the woman in 5G, that cab driver over there, you. Sure, there are overlaps, but only in the details. Some people make their worlds around what they think reality is like. They convince themselves that they had nothing to do with their worlds' creations or continuations. Some make their worlds without knowing it. Their universes are just sesame seeds and three-day weekends and dial tones and skinned knees and physics and driftwood and emerald earrings and books dropped in bathtubs and holes in guitars and plastic and empathy and hardwood and heavy water and high black stockings and the history of the Vikings and brass and obsolescence and burnt hair and collapsed souffles and the impossibility of not falling in love in an art museum with the person standing next to you looking at the same painting and all the other things that just happen and are. But you want to make for yourself a world that is deliberately and meticulously personalized. A theater for your life, if I could put it like that. Don't live an accident. Don't call a knife a knife. Live a life that has never been lived before, in which everything you experience is yours and only yours. Make accidents on purpose. Call a knife a name by which only you will recognize it. Now I'm not a very smart man, but I'm not a d ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
Cab Driver quotes by Jonathan Safran Foer
And listen
tell your friend to try English Breakfast net time. It's a little more robust. Earl Grey is really more of a 'Sense and Sensibility' kind of tea.
Cab driver to J.D. Jameson ~ Julie James
Cab Driver quotes by Julie James
They drain you sometimes. They really do.

"What's it all about then mate? What's the secret of life? You should know. You're a fucking cab driver."

Yeah, right. (As if I'll learn the secret of life talking to arseholes like you all night).

"Got any saucepan lids, mate? I've got two. I hate them. Bastards, they are. Ruined my life. I hate the bastards."

I keep quiet

"Don't try and rip us off, mate. I've got a key between my knuckles."

(Whatever).

The life of a cab driver. Glimpses into other people's lives. ~ Karl Wiggins

Review of Bargain with the Devil
Author: Gloria Gravitt Moulder
My interest in the death of Margaret Mitchell was sparked as a young child growing up in Georgia. I was born in 1953, 4 years after her death. Older relatives, neighbors and friends would sit around discussing her death as I was growing up and with the inquisitive mind of a young child; I found what they were saying interesting enough to listen in. They talked about how the taxi cab driver, Hugh Gravitt, (some of which knew him as this was a small southern town where everyone knew everyone) was not a drinker because of his health and how the newspaper articles had written he was drunk and speeding when it wasn't true. I overheard many things about how the media was wrong regarding the circumstances of her death. Some speculated she committed suicide; others suspected her husband pushed her in front of the car Mr. Gravitt was driving. All commented that both Margaret and John were drunk and jaywalking across Peachtree Street.
I read the book (Gone with the Wind) when I was 13 and went to see the movie in 1969 at the Fox theatre with friends. I cannot relate how this impacted me. I became interested in all I heard as a child again and over the years have read many articles on the subject of Margaret Mitchell and John Marsh. I never believed the stories about Hugh Gravitt being at fault in her death as a result of all those conversations I had overheard by my elders as a child.

Cab Driver quotes by Gloria Gravitt Moulder
Martin had a period of relishing the Boston thug-writer George V. Higgins, author of The Friends of Eddie Coyle. Higgins's characters had an infectious way of saying 'inna' and 'onna,' so Martin would say, for example, 'I think this lunch should be onna Hitch' or 'I heard he wasn't that useful inna sack.' Simple pleasures you may say, but linguistic sinew is acquired in this fashion and he would not dump a trope until he had chewed all the flesh and pulp of it and was left only with pith and pips. Thus there arrived a day when Park Lane played host to a fancy new American hotel with the no less fancy name of 'The Inn on The Park' and he suggested a high-priced cocktail there for no better reason than that he could instruct the cab driver to 'park inna Inn onna Park.' This near-palindrome (as I now think of it) gave us much innocent pleasure. ~ Christopher Hitchens
Cab Driver quotes by Christopher Hitchens
No, in Lethal Weapon I was a taxi cab driver that Mel jumps in front of the taxi and pulls me out of the car and steals the taxi. Then I did some other indie driving for some of the car sequences. ~ David R. Ellis
Cab Driver quotes by David R. Ellis
The greatly anticipated 2009 Masters was like going to a Broadway hit and finding out that the star, Sir Tiger Woods, was off that night, and his replacement was the cab driver who dropped you off at the theater. ~ Dan Jenkins
Cab Driver quotes by Dan Jenkins
I go to all the appointments. All the meetings. I sit with the team of inclusion teachers, occupational therapists, doctors, social workers, remedial teachers, and the cab driver that gets him from appointment to appointment, and I push for everything that can be done for my autistic boy. But I will never have a plan that will fix him. Noah is not something to be fixed.
And our life will never be normal. And people always say,
oh well what's normal, there's no such thing really, and I say
sure there is ... there's a spectrum ... and there's lots and lots of possibilities within that spectrum, and trust me buddy, ducks on the moon ain't one of them ... .but ... .
In this abnormal life, I get to live with a pirate,
and a bird fancier, and an ogre, and a hedgehog, and many many superheroes, and aliens and monsters
and an angel.
I get to go to infinity and beyond. ~ Kelley Jo Burke
Cab Driver quotes by Kelley Jo Burke
Objectively, class differences in accent, dress, manners, and general style of life are very much smaller; and one cannot, strolling about the street or travelling on a train, instantly identify a person's social background as one can in England. Subjectively, social relations are more natural and egalitarian, and less marked by deference, submissiveness, or snobbery, as one quickly discovers from the cab-driver, the barman, the air-hostess and the drug-store assistant. ~ Anthony Crosland
Cab Driver quotes by Anthony Crosland
I didn't offer to help him carry any of his stuff. That's the unwritten code between cabbies and movers ... It's his punishment for tricking the cab driver into playing Mayflower, because he knows he's not going to give you a tip, and so do you. ~ Gary Reilly
Cab Driver quotes by Gary Reilly
The cab driver is staring at me in his mirror. I'm talking to myself.
"The second sign of madness," I explain.
"What's the first one?"
"Killing lots of people and eating their genitals."
He laughs and sneaks another look at me. ~ Michael Robotham
Cab Driver quotes by Michael Robotham
It's weird - the cab driver is playing very loud dance music and yet it doesn't really feel like a party. ~ Eugene Mirman
Cab Driver quotes by Eugene Mirman
You know, before I would think, my cab driver hates me. Now I think my limo driver hates me. ~ Ray Romano
Cab Driver quotes by Ray Romano
We will always be black, you and I, even if it means different things in different places. France is built on its own dream, on its collection of bodies, and recall that your very name is drawn from a man who opposed France and its national project of theft by colonization. It is true that our color was not our distinguishing feature there, so much as the Americanness represented in our poor handle on French. And it is true that there is something particular about how the Americans who think they are white regard us - something sexual and obscene. We were not enslaved in France. We are not their particular "problem," nor their national guilt. We are not their niggers. If there is any comfort in this, it is not the kind that I would encourage you to indulge. Remember your name. Remember that you and I are brothers, are the children of trans-Atlantic rape. Remember the broader consciousness that comes with that. Remember that this consciousness can never ultimately be racial; it must be cosmic. Remember the Roma you saw begging with their children in the street, and the venom with which they were addressed. Remember the Algerian cab driver, speaking openly of his hatred of Paris, then looking at your mother and me and insisting that we were all united under Africa. Remember the rumbling we all felt under the beauty of Paris, as though the city had been built in abeyance of Pompeii. Remember the feeling that the great public gardens, the long lunches, might all be undone by a ph ~ Ta-Nehisi Coates
Cab Driver quotes by Ta-Nehisi Coates
The one thing you shouldn't do is try to tell a cab driver how to get somewhere. ~ Jimmy Fallon
Cab Driver quotes by Jimmy Fallon
They travelled crosstown now; the cab could rush fast down each block of the continuous alley, pausing only at the intersections where, to the right, canyonniched, the rumor of Grandlieu Street swelled and then faded in repetitive and indistinguishable turmoil, flicking on and past as though the cab ran along the rimless periphery of a ghostly wheel spoked with light and sound. ~ William Faulkner
Cab Driver quotes by William Faulkner
I head to the bathroom. I wash my face, brush my teeth, and try to put the evening behind me. Look, it's not hard to turn down a drunk girl, because that's just wrong. But it was hard, for some unknown fucking reason, to turn down her. Those things she was saying. Those wicked, dirty words falling from her red lips. They torched a path up my body. They stirred something inside me. Some wish. Some want.

That kiss on the street was one thing.

The session on her couch was entirely another.

But the cab was a whole new wrinkle. She just combusted, like a rocket of lust, firing off in every direction, jumping me, climbing me, grinding on me.

I wanted it all.

I wanted her.

I still do. ~ Lauren Blakely
Cab Driver quotes by Lauren Blakely
Boxing has always been a primarily urban pastime (whereas the defining suburban sport is auto-racing, in which the machine and its anonymous mechanics hold far greater importance than the driver). When white Americans left the cities, they left boxing as well. ~ A.J. Liebling
Cab Driver quotes by A.J. Liebling
In New York, we tip everyone. We tip doormen, we tip cab drivers, and we tip bartenders at the bar. You'll get quite an evil eye if you don't leave a tip at the bar. ~ Zach Braff
Cab Driver quotes by Zach Braff
You have to be forward-moving and able to balance a lot of things at the same time. I attribute a lot of that to the Marine Corps and Juilliard both. ~ Adam Driver
Cab Driver quotes by Adam Driver
His latest job [My Dad] had been as a truck driver, picking up and delivering diapers. For months, he had complained bitterly about the odor and the mess, saying it was the worst job in the world. But now that he had lost it, he seemed to want it back. ~ Howard Schultz And Dori Jones Yang
Cab Driver quotes by Howard Schultz And Dori Jones Yang
I taught myself how to play guitar - pretty badly, but I knew enough about music to start to figure it out. ~ Minnie Driver
Cab Driver quotes by Minnie Driver
Like an ox-cart driver in monsoon season or the skipper of a grounded ship, one must sometimes go forward by going back. ~ John Barth
Cab Driver quotes by John Barth
I found my first novel difficult. I don't want to make it sound like it's any more difficult than driving a cab or going to any other job, but there are so many opportunities for self-doubt, that you just kind of need to soldier on. ~ Anthony Doerr
Cab Driver quotes by Anthony Doerr
Look, I'm the DD tonight, but I'm offering to be more than just your driver. I'll be your bodyguard, and your bartender, and most importantly, your friend. I promise to look out for you tonight, Wellsy. ~ Elle Kennedy
Cab Driver quotes by Elle Kennedy
You do a James Bond film, you're being part of an anachronism, a tradition. ~ Minnie Driver
Cab Driver quotes by Minnie Driver
In my day it was 75 percent car and mechanic, 25 percent driver and luck. Today it's 95 percent car. ~ Juan Manuel Fangio
Cab Driver quotes by Juan Manuel Fangio
As a driver, you always dream of winning a F1 race, and to win so early on in my career was very special. ~ Pastor Maldonado
Cab Driver quotes by Pastor Maldonado
I figured out that whatever I selected myself I could read with more depth and more breadth - there was a match to my curiosity. And I could take advantage of what people later pathologized as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) by using natural stimulation as a main driver to scholarship. ~ Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Cab Driver quotes by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
My Lovely,

Your guise is unparalleled, Your touch entices my thirst,Your presence thaws my soul, My torso threatens to burst. Awaiting your requited love, Forevermore I shall remain. Never exhausting of time, But enduring its tribunal pain.

Ceaselessly Yours,
David Chios ~ Nely Cab
Cab Driver quotes by Nely Cab
I don't feel like I have to dress up to go to the deli. ~ Adam Driver
Cab Driver quotes by Adam Driver
Often as I creep along in a traffic jam, someone inevitably tries to enter my lane from the side. Now here is the issue: If I let the car in, I feel good about it. But when I see others in front of me let someone in, I feel cheated, because I've been waiting longer than the car entering the lane, and I am upset with the driver who acted kindly at my expense. ~ Dan Ariely
Cab Driver quotes by Dan Ariely
Geeks are a critical driver of America's innovation ecosystem, from the entrepreneurs launching startups in Silicon Valley to the scientists experimenting in university research labs to the whiz kids building gadgets in their parents' garages. ~ Todd Park
Cab Driver quotes by Todd Park
I'll cab it home."
"Naw. I'll hang until you're through. Then I'll drag you back to your apartment. Watch you throw up for an hour. Push you into bed. Before I leave I'll get the coffee machine set up. Aspirin will be right next to the sugar bowl."
"I don't have a sugar bowl."
"So it'll be next to the bag."
Butch smiled. "You'd have made a great wife, Jose."
"That's what mine tells me. ~ J.R. Ward
Cab Driver quotes by J.R. Ward
The driver believed that he would pay for his sin for a little while in hell, but then he would surely go to heaven after that. After all, he hadn't done too many bad things. So Azeem said to him, "If I slapped you in the face, what would you do to me?" The driver replied, "I would throw you out of my taxi." "If I went up to a random guy on the street and slapped him in the face, what would he do to me?" "He would probably call his friends and beat you up." "What if I went up to a policeman and slapped him in the face? What would he do to me?" "You would be beat up for sure, and then thrown into jail." "And what if I went to the king of this country and slapped him in the face? What would happen to me then?" The driver looked at Azeem and awkwardly ~ David Platt
Cab Driver quotes by David Platt
But then again, you know, the pimp in TAXI DRIVER has this reason, given the environment he was living in. ~ Harvey Keitel
Cab Driver quotes by Harvey Keitel
The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel
and the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
and a dark wind blows ~ Efrim Menuck
Cab Driver quotes by Efrim Menuck
There are gators, thousands of them. " said Rashawn.
" Then we better get out of here before we end up as a feast for gators." said Nicole. " What are going to do with him?" looking at the dead driver. " Let's get out of here and let him be the feast ~ Roland Smith
Cab Driver quotes by Roland Smith
'Taxi Driver' was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I didn't become a weirdo and squawk like a chicken. ~ Jodie Foster
Cab Driver quotes by Jodie Foster
Sloane handed the driver some money, told him to keep the change, and ran up the front steps where Dex stood at the top, opening the door. Sloane hauled him inside, slammed the door behind them, and pounced. He kissed Dex ravenously while divesting him of his clothes. Buttons popped, clothes were torn, but Sloane couldn't care less. All he could think about was being inside Dex, of claiming his mate. His. "You're ~ Charlie Cochet
Cab Driver quotes by Charlie Cochet
From folk to tribal to Cab Calloway, Cole Porter, Gershwin to the Rolling Stones, whose first record was all covers, to country-western, bebop, blues, and even the referencing in classic hip hop to cliched love ballads of the '80s or whatever - that is kinda gone, and that's just terrifying to me. ~ Cat Power
Cab Driver quotes by Cat Power
The total average cost of driving, including depreciation, maintenance, and insurance, runs about 61 cents a mile, and since the average automobile used for commuting to work contains only 1.1 people, every commute costs a little more than 55 cents per passenger mile. This means that, if you're an automobile commuter traveling twenty-five miles each way to work, you're spending around $30 a day for the privilege, not including the cost, if there is one, to park. You're also spending an hour every day for which, unless you're a cabbie or bus driver yourself, you're not getting paid, and during which you're not doing anything productive at all. For the average American, that's another $24. In transportation, time really is money. ~ Samuel I. Schwartz
Cab Driver quotes by Samuel I. Schwartz
My grandma's the most careful, safe driver in the world. You put her in a rental car, and she's doing doughnuts in the K-Mart parking lot! ~ Jeff Foxworthy
Cab Driver quotes by Jeff Foxworthy
Meeting my brother was the single most incredible, wonderful event that had happened to me in my life up to that point. "I'm going to meet my brother," I said to the taxi driver, just to see how it sounded. Just for the novelty of saying out loud the words "my brother" for the first time. He was uninterested, and it thrilled me that the extraordinary thing I was experiencing seemd to be so ordinary to an outsider. ~ Kate Kerrigan
Cab Driver quotes by Kate Kerrigan
It is as forbidden as is the illicit fruit of Hades, and yet, even he has eaten from it. ~ Nely Cab
Cab Driver quotes by Nely Cab
As Tim followed me up the narrow stairwell, he playfully pinched my butt with every step, a pleasant (and painful
in a black-and-blue sort of way) reminder that all I had yearned for as a student twenty-five years before had come true, even if I hadn't taken the time to notice it until now: I was happy. At twenty years old, had I articulated what I thought I needed in life, I would have probably said a big house, a successful husband, and a great career. Yet all I really needed for true happiness was the homeless, unemployed bus driver right behind me, pinching my butt every step of the way. ~ Doreen Orion
Cab Driver quotes by Doreen Orion
A dog-it was a dog I saw for certain. Or thought I saw. It was snowing pretty hard by then, and you can see things in the snow that aren't there, or aren't exactly there, so that by God when you do see something, you react anyhow, erring on the distaff side, if you get my drift. That's my training as a driver, but it's also my temperament as a mother of two grown sons and wife to an invalid, and that way when I'm wrong at least I'm wrong on the side of the angels. ~ Russell Banks
Cab Driver quotes by Russell Banks
The marrowborn legate to whom the carriage belonged stuck his head out the window to see what all the fuss was, found a girl in a shredded evening gown where his driver should've been. As he opened his mouth to protest, she turned and looked at him, bloodstained skin and narrowed eyes, a cat made of what might have been shadows perched on her shoulder. The man pulled his head back into the carriage without a word. ~ Jay Kristoff
Cab Driver quotes by Jay Kristoff
I grinned. I wanted to dive across the cab and make out with his face, but figured grinning was probably more appropriate for this time and space. ~ Megan Squires
