To refuse to do something because you've already done it, because you've already been there, rapidly leads to the destruction, for yourself as much as for others, of any reason for living, for any possible future, and it plunges you into an oppressive ennui that will eventually transform into atrocious bitterness, accompanied by hatred and rancor toward those who still belong to the land of the living. ~ Michel Houellebecq
Reason For Living quotes by Michel Houellebecq
When you find your reason for living, hold onto it. Never let it go. Even if it means burning other bridges along the way. ~ Abbi Glines
Reason For Living quotes by Abbi Glines
And suddenly the miracle happens. I look across at the woman who has just made some coffee and is now reading the newspaper, whose eyes look tired and desperate, who is her usual silent self, who does not always show her affection in gestures, the woman who made me say yes when i wanted to say no, who forced me to fight for what she, quiet rightly, believed was my reason for living, who let me set off alone because her love for me was greater even than her love for herself, who made me go in serch of my dream,; and suddenly, seeing that small, quiet woman, whose eyes said more than words, who was often terrified inside, but always courageous in her actions, who could love someone without humbling herself and who never ever apologized for fighting for her man - suddenly. my fingers press down on the keys. ~ Paulo Coelho
Reason For Living quotes by Paulo Coelho
It's true, of course, humor is very important in my life, as you know. That's the only reason for living, in fact. ~ Marcel Duchamp
Reason For Living quotes by Marcel Duchamp
I could just remember how my father used to say that the reason for living was to get ready to stay dead a long time. And ~ William Faulkner
Reason For Living quotes by William Faulkner
Reaching inside his coat, Christopher pulled out the letter from Pru, the one he carried with him always. It had become a talisman, a symbol of what he had fought for. A reason for living. He looked down at the bit of folded paper, not even needing to open it. The words had been seared into his heart.
"Please come home and find me…"
In the past he had wondered if he were incapable of love. None of his love affairs had ever lasted more than a matter of months, and although they had blazed on a physical level, they had never transcended that. Ultimately no particular woman had ever seemed all that different from the rest.
Until those letters. The sentences had looped around him with a spirit so artless and adorable, he had loved it, loved her, immediately.
His thumb moved over the parchment as if it were sensitive living skin. "Mark my words, Audrey--I'm going to marry the woman who wrote this letter."
"I am marking your words," she assured him. "We'll see if you live up to them. ~ Lisa Kleypas
Reason For Living quotes by Lisa Kleypas
Eric, I'm going to pay you back for leaving me." She smoothed her dress. "You understand?" "Yes," he said, and walked into the kitchen. "I'll devote my life to it," Kathy said, from the bedroom. "Now I have a reason for living. It's wonderful to have a purpose at last; it's thrilling. After all these pointless ugly years with you. God, it's like being born all over again." "Lots of luck," he said. ~ Philip K. Dick
Reason For Living quotes by Philip K. Dick
Love is our only reason for living and the only purpose of life. We live for the sake of love, and we live seeking love ... it is not surprising that we keep looking for love. All of us are nothing but vibrations of love. We are sustained by love, and in the end we merge back into love ... ~ Swami Muktananda
Reason For Living quotes by Swami Muktananda
I believe God has instilled in us a craving, a deep desire to run with Him on a fantastic adventure, yet many of us crawl along in life without even a glimpse of our hidden passion. There has to be a reason for living. There must be a Camelot, a hidden Utopia where we can rest from our personal campaigns. Fantasy opens our eyes to a better place, a shining city we do not yet know. And these stories provide a mental bridge to that city as we pursue horizons we could never distinguish with our physical eyes. ~ Bryan Davis
Reason For Living quotes by Bryan Davis
He was handsome and strong, but somehow that wasn't enough for him. He also felt the need to be tough and inured to hardship... But how was he to come by that quality in this luminous garden, where all manner of fruit was to be had for the picking? ~ Michael Ende
Reason For Living quotes by Michael Ende
The established religions no longer ask fundamental questions about our identity and our reason for living. Instead, they concentrate purely on a series of dogmas and rules concerned only with fitting in with a particular social and political organization. People in search of real spirituality are, therefore, setting off in new directions, and that inevitably means a return to the past and to primitive religions, before those religions were contaminated by the structures of power. ~ Paulo Coelho
Reason For Living quotes by Paulo Coelho
You don't decide what your purpose is in life you discover it. Your purpose is your reason for living. ~ Bob Proctor
Reason For Living quotes by Bob Proctor
I am beautiful and beauty is my reason for living. ~ Paulo Coelho
Reason For Living quotes by Paulo Coelho
Discovery of purpose is a continuous activity, and revelation of it is an ongoing process ... The most fortunate people on earth are those who have found a calling that is bigger than they are, a reason for living that moves them and fills their lives with constant passion, aliveness, and growth. Your soul's true purpose is to be the love that you are! ~ Glenda Green
Reason For Living quotes by Glenda Green
Who wants to become a writer? And why? ... It's the streaming reason for living. To note, to pin down, to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make something, to make a great flower of life, even if it's a cactus. ~ Enid Bagnold
Reason For Living quotes by Enid Bagnold
A reason for living can be a great obstacle in life. ~ Marty Rubin
Reason For Living quotes by Marty Rubin
People say hate is like a poison - but they're wrong. It's like a drug. You never forget your first hit, how it seduces you with its strength and power, and takes you completely by storm. It colors your world in light and meaning, until you wonder how you ever managed to get by without it. And then, eventually, you get to a point where you can't. It takes over your life, until hating becomes your reason for living. ~ Nenia Campbell
Reason For Living quotes by Nenia Campbell
If you just take it down to bare facts, the reason for living is the reason you make it. I mean the brain was made to create. ~ Sharon Tate
Reason For Living quotes by Sharon Tate
Losing your life is not the worst thing that can happen. The worst thing is to lose your reason for living. ~ Jo Nesbo
Reason For Living quotes by Jo Nesbo
What is called a reason for living is also an excellent reason for dying. ~ Albert Camus
Reason For Living quotes by Albert Camus
If you're a leader, your whole reason for living is to help human beings develop - to really develop people and make work a place that's energetic and exciting and a growth opportunity, whether you're running a Housekeeping Department or Google. I mean, this is not rocket science. ~ Tom Peters
Reason For Living quotes by Tom Peters
In the moment I faced dying, I finally knew my reason for living. ~ Brodi Ashton
Reason For Living quotes by Brodi Ashton
I must fight with all my strength so that the little positive things that my health allows me to do might be pointed toward helping the revolution. The only real reason for living. ~ Frida Kahlo
Reason For Living quotes by Frida Kahlo
I don't have time' is the single most frequently given reason for living fractional, perpetually indentured lives, for not living fully or freely. Because time is life, when we say we don't have enough time, we are admitting that we don't have enough life. ~ Sonia Johnson
Reason For Living quotes by Sonia Johnson
Never again, she vowed, would she live a noisy life that killed her dreams. They were her reason for living, the only thing that she had to give to the world, and she must live in the way that suited them best. ~ Elizabeth Goudge
Reason For Living quotes by Elizabeth Goudge
Money is only a human invention. I get paid for my work, it's a system of trade, but it's not my purpose and reason for living. ~ Vanna Bonta
Reason For Living quotes by Vanna Bonta
I see many people die because they judge that life is not worth living. I see others paradoxically getting killed for the ideas or illusions that give them a reason for living (what is called a reason for living is also an excellent reason for dying). I therefore conclude that the meaning of life is the most urgent of questions. ~ Albert Camus
Reason For Living quotes by Albert Camus
Take away the miseries and you take away some folks' reason for living. ~ Toni Cade Bambara
Reason For Living quotes by Toni Cade Bambara
The Animal does not question lif. It lives. It's very reason for living is life; it enjoys and relishes life. ~ Ray Bradbury
Reason For Living quotes by Ray Bradbury
We all have a reason for living I am blessed mine has two eyes a heartbeat and calls me mum. ~ Nikki Rowe
Reason For Living quotes by Nikki Rowe
To lose one's life is no great matter; when the time comes I'll have the courage to lose mine. But what's intolerable is to see one's life being drained of meaning, to be told there's no reason for existing. A man can't live without some reason for living. ~ Albert Camus
Reason For Living quotes by Albert Camus
Being a father, well, I don't know if this is a change, but it makes me want to get out of here faster. Get off the clock. Just 'cause the baby is my reason for living, my reason for coming to work. ~ Richard Dean Anderson
Reason For Living quotes by Richard Dean Anderson
I'd always worried about being practically empty, about having no serious reason for living. And now, confronted with the facts, I was sure of my individual nullity. In that environment, too different from the one where my petty habits were at home, I seem to have disintegrated, I felt very close to nonexistence. I discovered that with no one to speak to me of familiar things, there was nothing to stop me from sinking into irresistible boredom, a terrifying, sickly sweet torpor. Nauseating. ~ Louis Ferdinand Celine
Reason For Living quotes by Louis Ferdinand Celine
Without the interplay of human against human, the chief interest in life is gone; most of the intellectual values are gone; most of the reason for living is gone. ~ Isaac Asimov
Reason For Living quotes by Isaac Asimov
Who wants to become a writer? And why? Because it's the answer to everything ... It's the streaming reason for living. To note, to pin down, to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make something, to make a great flower out of life, even if it's a cactus. ~ Enid Bagnold
Reason For Living quotes by Enid Bagnold
I am free: there is absolutely no more reason for living, all the ones I have tried have given way and I can't imagine any more of them. ~ Jean-Paul Sartre
Reason For Living quotes by Jean-Paul Sartre
We think of forgiveness as a thing. An incident. A choice. But forgiveness is a process. A long, exhausting process. A series of choices that we have to make over, and over, and over again.

Because the anger at having been wronged... doesn't vanish because you say to someone, "I forgive you." Rather forgiveness is an obligation you take on not to act punitively on your anger. To interrogate it when it arises, and accept that you have made the choice to be constructive rather than destructive. Not that you have made the choice never to be angry again.

But anger can also make you sick, if you're exposed to it for too long.... The anger itself can be your reason for living, and feeding it can be your only goal.... ~ Elizabeth Bear
Reason For Living quotes by Elizabeth Bear
How the hell did people do this, this emotion-and-forgiveness thing? How did they stand these feelings? She could barely handle it and she had lovely, necessary, reason-for-living drugs to smooth over the rough spots. How did people do this shit sober? ~ Stacia Kane
Reason For Living quotes by Stacia Kane
We are machines built by DNA whose purpose is to make more copies of the same DNA ... This is exactly what we are for. We are machines for propagating DNA, and the propagation of DNA is a self-sustaining process. It is every living object's sole reason for living. ~ Richard Dawkins
Reason For Living quotes by Richard Dawkins
life is the reason for living and death is the reason for dying if we are to live, why die ? there is a ending for everything and being alive gives us a chance to do something and enjoy it. ~ Pamela
Reason For Living quotes by Pamela
Any wrong decision you have ever made will become unimportant when your attention has shifted from it to a creative reason for living right here and now. ~ Raymond Charles Barker
Reason For Living quotes by Raymond Charles Barker
A marriage ... makes of two fractional lives a whole; it gives to two purposeless lives a work, and doubles the strength of each to perform it; it gives to two questioning natures a reason for living, and something to live for; it will give a new gladness to the sunshine, a new fragrance to the flowers, a new beauty to the earth, and a new mystery to life. ~ Mark Twain
Reason For Living quotes by Mark Twain
Someone is about to give away the mystery of loneliness and then the train comes. A reason for living, the train comes, why she never loved him, the train comes, source of hope, train, lifetime of regret, train, never-ending heartache, train, train, train, train train. ~ Xuan Juliana Wang
Reason For Living quotes by Xuan Juliana Wang
The human animal is a fascinating beast. Watching people and trying to learn how and why they do things, and to engage in the somewhat futile attempt to explain them ... it's my reason for living I guess ... to ask 'why?'. I don't know what else to do with myself. In some strange way it's probably an attempt to understand myself and my own relationship to the world. ~ Andrew Neel
Reason For Living quotes by Andrew Neel
There are cities that are damned for some people by the mere fact that they seem created to close off the distances that are the only reason for living. ~ Julien Gracq
Reason For Living quotes by Julien Gracq
We do not hunt them because we want to save humanity. We hunt them because we like killing them. More than a calling, this is everything to us, our only true reason for living. The hollow place in our hearts are filled with each of their deaths.
We will never stop. ~ Menton3
Reason For Living quotes by Menton3
The closer you get to your dream, the more your personal legend becomes your real reason for living. ~ Paulo Coelho
Reason For Living quotes by Paulo Coelho
Discover the joy of giving and you will discover the reason for living. ~ Mark Victor Hansen
Reason For Living quotes by Mark Victor Hansen
The reason for living is to have great relationships, to have people you love and respect and who love and respect you. ~ Brian Tracy
Reason For Living quotes by Brian Tracy
People do kill themselves, you know, Miranda, when they think their whole reason for living is being taken away from them. Even the fact that other people think their suffering is a joke isn't enough to shake them out of it. ~ Robert Galbraith
Reason For Living quotes by Robert Galbraith
So we contemplate each other, and we want each other, and I give it life and warmth, and it gives me my reason for living. ~ Paulo Coelho
Reason For Living quotes by Paulo Coelho
I already made icing. I told you not to buy any."
"Oops," I said, taking another scoop. "Looks like I messed up again. Guess I'll have to eat this."
He glanced toward me, giving a pointed look to the two containers I had set beside me. "All of it?" he asked.
"Maybe if you're nice, I'll share ... But considering you've already met your niceness quote for the year, I wouldn't bet on it. And you can't have any sprinkles."
"There goes my reason for living."
"I thought that was to make me miserable. ~ Bethany Frenette
Reason For Living quotes by Bethany Frenette
In the beginning we seek truth.
In the middle we seek reason.
In the end we seek peace. ~ L.M. Browning
Reason For Living quotes by L.M. Browning
I'd do anything for you." And she knew he meant it. "Even before you healed me, you gave my life back, a reason for living. I adore you, I worship you. I love you beyond all reason. ~ Ava Gray
Reason For Living quotes by Ava Gray
Emotion is created by a cause, whether that cause is factual or imaginary does not matter, as longer as the believer holds it as true. ~ Bangambiki Habyarimana
Reason For Living quotes by Bangambiki Habyarimana
We women, when we're searching for a meaning to our lives or for the path of knowledge, always identify with one of four classic archetypes.
The Virgin (and I'm not speaking here of a sexual virgin) is the one whose search springs from her complete independence, and everything she learns is the fruit of her ability to face challenges alone.
The Martyr finds her way to self-knowledge through pain, surrender and suffering.
The Saint finds her true reason for living in unconditional love and in her ability to give without asking anything in return.
Finally, the Witch justifies her existence by going in search of complete and limitless pleasure. ~ Paulo Coelho
Reason For Living quotes by Paulo Coelho
The enduring attraction of war is this: Even with its destruction and carnage it can give us what we long for in life. It can give us purpose, meaning, a reason for living. ~ Chris Hedges
Reason For Living quotes by Chris Hedges
If death ends all, if I have neither to hope for good to come nor to fear evil, I must ask myself what I am here for and how in these circumstances I must conduct myself. Now the answer to one of these questions is plain, but it is so unpalatable that most men will not face it. There is no reason for living and life has no meaning. We are here, inhabitants for a little while of a small planet, revolving around a minor star which is in turn one of unnumbered galaxies... The astronomer tells us.... this planet will eventually reach a condition when living things can no longer exist upon it and at long last the universe will attain that final state of equilibrium in which nothing more can happen. Aeons and aeons before this man will have disappeared. Is it possible to suppose that it will matter then that he ever existed? He will have been a chapter in the history of the universe as pointless as the chapter in which is written the life stories of the strange creatures that inhabited the primeval earth. ~ W. Somerset Maugham
Reason For Living quotes by W. Somerset Maugham
There is no greater torture than being forced to watch as your love, your reason for living, breathing, and existing, sinks into oblivion. Your heart stops no matter how you try to get to her, she just gets farther and farther away." ~Fane from 'Beyond the Vail'

"Attention shoppers, just a brief announcement, crazy ass werewolf on isle three. Those with abundance of testosterone, don't touch their lady merchandise and you might walk out of here intact." ~Jen from 'Fate and Fury'.

"In the event of some sort of gathering, if one of the bossy, overbearing, possessive fur balls has not flipped his switch and attacked some poor young pup in some misguided attempt to protect his woman's virtue, then the night is not over." ~Jen from 'Beyond the Vail ~ Quinn Loftis
Reason For Living quotes by Quinn Loftis
In every lifetime, I believe that each soul is given one mate. Don't get me wrong, I think that a person can fall in love more than one time. But finding your soul mate is a different matter altogether. You don't just love that person, you adore him or her. That person is your world. Your reason for living. The one thing in this life that will make everything OK. When you find your soul mate, you've found your purpose. To love that one person. To experience life with that one person. ~ Abbi Glines
Reason For Living quotes by Abbi Glines
If you keep in mind that love and love alone is the reason for living, it will calm your heart and free you from your worries. ~ Harold Klemp
Reason For Living quotes by Harold Klemp
We may regard certain days as free days. Free days are however fee days. We will pay later ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Reason For Living quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
You matter.
You are important.
There is a reason for your existence.
You may not see or understand how this is true, but truth doesn't cease to be truth because of doubt, blindness, or ignorance.
And the truth is―you matter. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Reason For Living quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
The Good Gardener planted each of us here for a reason. ~ Seth Adam Smith
Reason For Living quotes by Seth Adam Smith
As long as I have a want, I have a reason for living. Satisfaction is death. ~ George Bernard Shaw
Reason For Living quotes by George Bernard Shaw
You can deal with an emotion based on reason, but who can control an unreasonable emotion? ~ Bangambiki Habyarimana
Reason For Living quotes by Bangambiki Habyarimana
So some hope. I am going to be honest. It's gonna get way worse. Brace yourself. BUT ALSO know there is a new tomorrow. Be grateful for everyday you are on this big blue marble because death is for a real long time. Life is brief. The world is better with you on it. Trust me when I say I understand how you feel! I understand depression. You know what helps. I say read a book or watch comedy, not mine necessarily. Just think about it. Who moves you? What comedy do you love? Not into comedy, listen to music, hell go to your porch and watch what's going on. Wild life isn't just lions and frogs but also squirrels and Birds. Like someone fun? Watch him or her or they or whomever. Look you'll get through this! Stay in together! ~ Johnny Corn
Reason For Living quotes by Johnny Corn
Rose was unravelling my hard exterior and helping me realize the boy I use to be was still there. I walked around like I had a death wish, taking unnecessary risks because my reason for living had vanished, but now that she was back I had to do everything I possibly could to fight for us; to fight for her. ~ Teresa Mummert
Reason For Living quotes by Teresa Mummert
It seemed a ruse that fear of death should be the sole motivation for living and, yet, to quell this fear made the prospect of living itself seem all the more absurd; to extend this further, the notion of living one's life for the purposes of pondering the absurdity of living was an even greater absurdity in and of itself, which thus, by reductio ad absurdum, rendered the fear of death a necessary function of life and any lack thereof, a trifling matter rooted in self-inflicted incoherence. ~ Ashim Shanker
Reason For Living quotes by Ashim Shanker
For some reason if we hear 100 praises and one criticism, we focus on that one hurtful thing. ~ Carmen Electra
Reason For Living quotes by Carmen Electra
We have to look deeply to see how we grow our food, so we can eat in ways that preserve our collective well-being, minimize our suffering and the suffering of other species, and allow the earth to continue to be a source of life for all of us. If, while we eat, we destroy living beings or the environment, we are eating the flesh of our own sons and daughters. We need to look deeply together and discuss how to eat, what to eat, and what to resist. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Reason For Living quotes by Thich Nhat Hanh
So for most people, the reason they don't win financially is because the fear of losing money is far greater than the joy of being rich. ~ Robert T. Kiyosaki
Reason For Living quotes by Robert T. Kiyosaki
I'm what-iffing! I don't what-if! What-iffing is for growups. They what-if themselves right into doing nothing, and die without ever living. ~ Karen Marie Moning
Reason For Living quotes by Karen Marie Moning
We feel that, for the honour of God (and also, though we do not say this, for the sake of our own reputation as spiritual Christians), it is necessary for us to claim that we are, so to speak, already in the signal-box, here and now enjoying the inside information as to the why and wherefore of God's doings. This comforting pretence becomes part of us: we feel sure that God has enabled us to understand all His ways with us and our circle thus far, and we take if for granted that we shall be able to see at once the reason for anything that may happen to us in the future. And then something very painful and quite inexplicable comes along, and our cheerful illusion of being in God's secret councils is shattered. Our pride is wounded; we feel that God has slighted us; and unless at this point we repent, and humble ourselves very thoroughly for our former presumption, our whole subsequent spriritual life may be blighted. ~ J.I. Packer
Reason For Living quotes by J.I. Packer
For some reason I didn't believe it. I don't know why. Maybe it was because my father was the kind of person who told himself things over and over until he believed them, who could justify almost anything. What I wanted was for it to really be okay. I wanted him to really not care, to maybe even be happy about it. Instead he was acting like I was making a bad career choice, like I was passing up an English degree at Fairmont in favor of a bartending certificate at the local community college. ~ Nick Burd
Reason For Living quotes by Nick Burd
The usual heresy consists in denying the existence of a god who has created us. It is a much more interesting heresy to imagine that possibly a god has created us and then to say that there isn't the least reason for us to be impressed by that fact. And certainly not to be thankful for it. ~ Lars Gustafsson
Reason For Living quotes by Lars Gustafsson
I know there are some people in Germany who become sick when they see these black uniforms, we understand the reason for this, and do not expect we shall be loved by all that number of people; those who come to fear us in any way or at any time must have a bad conscience towards the Fuhrer and the nation. For these persons we have established an organisation called the Security Service. ~ Heinrich Himmler
Reason For Living quotes by Heinrich Himmler
To ask, 'How do you do it?' is already starting off on the wrong foot. When reaching for the stars, there does not have to be a 'how' if there is a big enough 'why'. ~ Criss Jami
Reason For Living quotes by Criss Jami
In those few words you've summed up my life - my reason for existence. It's you. Any pain I've suffered, the mistakes I've made, the path laid out for me have all led here - to you. ~ Tima Maria Lacoba
Reason For Living quotes by Tima Maria Lacoba
The reason for this persistent story line in the Bible is not simply because the writers like underdogs. It is because the ultimate example of God's working in the world was Jesus Christ, the only founder of a major religion who died in disgrace, not surrounded by all of his loving disciples but abandoned by everybody whom he cared about, including his Father. ~ Timothy J. Keller
Reason For Living quotes by Timothy J. Keller
Nowadays men cannot love seven night but they must have all their desires: that love may not endure by reason; for where they be soon accorded and hasty, heat soon it cooleth. Right so fareth love nowadays, soon hot soon cold: this is no stability. But the old love was not so. ~ Thomas Malory
Reason For Living quotes by Thomas Malory
If I were a tree among trees, a cat among animals, this life would have a meaning or rather this problem would not arise, for I should belong to this world. I should be this world to which I am opposed by my whole consciousness and my whole insistence upon familiarity. This ridiculous reason is what sets me in opposition to all creation. I cannot cross it out with a stroke of the pen ~ Albert Camus
Reason For Living quotes by Albert Camus
I can't quite shake this feeling that we live in a world gone wrong, that there are all these feelings you're not supposed to have because there's no reason to anymore. But still they're there, stuck somewhere, a flaw that evolution hasn't managed to eliminate yet. I want so badly to feel bad about getting pregnant. But I can't, don't dare to. Just like I didn't dare tell Jack that I was falling in love with him, wanting to be a modern woman who's supposed to be able to handle the casual nature of these kinds of relationships. I'm never supposed to say, to Jack or anyone else, 'What makes you think I'm so rich that you can steal my heart and it won't mean a thing?' Sometimes I think that I was forced to withdraw into depression, because it was the only rightful protest I could throw in the face of a world that said it was all right for people to come and go as they please, that there were simply no real obligations left. Deceit and treachery in both romantic and political relationships is nothing new, but at one time, it was bad, callous, and cold to hurt somebody. Now it's just the way things go, part of the growth process. Really nothing is surprising. After a while, meaning and implication detach themselves from everything. If one can be a father and assume no obligations, it follows that one can be a boyfriend and do nothing at all. Pretty soon you can add friend, acquaintance, co-worker, and just about anyone else to the long list of people who seem to be part of your li ~ Elizabeth Wurtzel
Reason For Living quotes by Elizabeth Wurtzel
The circumstances that endanger the safety of nations are infinite, and for this reason no constitutional shackles can wisely be imposed on the power to which the care of it is committed. ~ Alexander Hamilton
Reason For Living quotes by Alexander Hamilton
I agree with the late William Cobbett about picking a wife. See that she chews her food well and sets her foot down firmly on the ground when she walks, and you're all right. Selina Goby was all right in both these respects, which was one reason for marrying her. I had another reason, likewise, entirely of my own discovering. Selina, being a single woman, made me pay so much a week for her board and services. Selina, being my wife, couldn't charge for her board, and would have to give me her services for nothing. That was the point of view I looked at it from. Economy - with a dash of love. ~ Wilkie Collins
Reason For Living quotes by Wilkie Collins
I was in my late thirties when my eyes were opened to truth in God's Word that showed me I wasn't living the abundant life Jesus died for me to have. I had a very negative mindset and was miserable most of the time because of the abuse I had experienced throughout my childhood. ~ Joyce Meyer
Reason For Living quotes by Joyce Meyer
I loved 'Funny Lady' for whatever reason. People say they didn't know I could sing and dance. Well, nobody ever asks me - it's always, 'Punch this guy.' ~ James Caan
Reason For Living quotes by James Caan
They were tough and sour, but as Pushkin said, 'Dearer to us than a host of truths is an exalting illusion.' I saw a happy man, whose cherished dream had so obviously come true, who had attained his goal in life, had gotten what he wanted, who was content with his fate and with himself. For some reason there had always been something sad mixed with my thoughts about human happiness, but now, at the sight of a happy man, I was overcome by an oppressive feeling close to despair.
- Gooseberries ~ Anton Chekhov
Reason For Living quotes by Anton Chekhov
For me, the moment the mic is on and it's rolling, it's impossible to vocally relax for some reason. But one day, I'm going to be able to sing the way I sang when I was a little kid, completely open and free. That's, I think, the one thing that's changed: Growing older, I'm not ashamed to hear my voice. ~ Cat Power
Reason For Living quotes by Cat Power
Because two people met, went on a date, and nothing went wrong. That, Marc, is love that is developed." Then, she continued, "Then, there is love that just is. The love that can't always be explained. The love that, according to those that have it, can't ever be anything but what it is. Endless. Instead of sitting home and imagining the next 'girls night out', you sit at home and anxiously wait for him coming home from work. Because you can't fathom spending an evening without him. That person doesn't give you reason to live. That person is your life. Love that just is. ~ Scott Hildreth
Reason For Living quotes by Scott Hildreth
Christian Faith
For me, being a Christian is all about true love. The Gospel of John instructs us, "Dear Friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." I believe that first we need to love ourselves, even when we are told that we do not deserve love. Then we need to love others, especially those who have not been treated with love. And of course, we need to love Jesus. Love for Jesus can be the foundation for living a good life, a life full of compassion and joy. Loving Jesus is where I believe a Christian life starts, because that love spreads all around, to people, animals, and the world.

Animal Rights
During my life so far, animals have brought me joy and comfort when I thought that I would never find happiness. My bunny Neon taught me so much about unconditional love. This experience showed me that animals have souls deserving of love just as much as humans, and they can be some of the purest examples of God's love on Earth. I believe we can all show animals the compassion and love they deserve by choosing products that are fur-free and cruelty-free and by eating a vegan diet. People always want a reason for the bad things in life. Sometimes there ain't one. ~ Stephen King

Being suicidal is really tiring. A lot of suicides are so lacking in affect and so lethargic that they aren't able to kill themselves until their mood improves - spring, for that reason, has the highest rate of what people in the business call "completed" suicides. ~ Charles D'Ambrosio
Reason For Living quotes by Charles D'Ambrosio
Put in hours and hours of planning, figure everything down to the last detail, then what? Burglar alarms start going off all overthe place for no sensible reason. A gun fires of its own accord and a man is shot. And a broken-down old house no good for anything but chasing kids has to trip over us. Blind accidents. What can you do against blind accidents? ~ Ben Maddow

I feel like now if you're going to start a band you have to have an Instagram full of yourself looking a certain way, lined up like five dudes in mugshot alley, hanging out by the bridge or up against the wall, or "We're in a library for some reason!" ~ Babatunde Adebimpe

No matter what you do for a living you should get paid for your work, whether you're washing dishes or recording songs. ~ Bif Naked
Reason For Living quotes by Bif Naked
There is too wide a gap, for most of us, between what we say and what we mean. Between our words and our thoughts. The first thing the Prophet Isaiah said when he saw the living and exalted God was, "Woe is me, I am ruined. For I am a man of unclean lips and I live among a people of unclean lips" (Isaiah 6:5). Isaiah was one of the most godly men who ever walked the earth. But seeing God, he sees also, abrupt and stark and grief-making, his own duplicity. Then God does what only God can do: he sears his lips clean (Isaiah 6:6-7). And herein lies our hope: truly seeing God, we truly see ourselves, in all our woe-begotten duplicity; but crying out to God, we are truly and greatly helped. ~ Mark Buchanan
