Christians aren't making a religious claim when they say Jesus rose from the grave. They're making a historical one; they're saying that this thing happened just as surely and really as it happened that Julius Caesar became emperor of Rome. It's the kind of claim that can be thought about and investigated; it can be judged, ~ Greg Gilbert
Julius quotes by Greg Gilbert
Another factor: Christianity offered opportunities for advancement in the church to intelligent young men, some of whom might otherwise have become mathematicians or scientists. Bishops and presbyters were generally exempt from the jurisdiction of the ordinary civil courts, and from taxation. A bishop such as Cyril of Alexandria or Ambrose of Milan could exercise considerable political power, much more than a scholar at the Museum in Alexandria or the Academy in Athens. This was something new. Under paganism religious offices had gone to men of wealth or political power, rather than wealth and power going to men of religion. For instance, Julius Caesar and his successors won the office of supreme pontiff, not as a recognition of piety or learning, but as a consequence of their political power. ~ Steven Weinberg
Julius quotes by Steven Weinberg
The personal inevitably trumps the political, and the erotic trumps all: We will remember that Cleopatra slept with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony long after we have forgotten what she accomplished in doing so, that she sustained a vast, rich, densely populated empire in its troubled twilight in the name of a proud and cultivated dynasty. She remains on the map for having seduced two of the greatest men of her time, while her crime was to have entered into those same "wily and suspicious" marital partnerships that every man in power enjoyed. She did so in reverse and in her own name; this made her a deviant, socially disruptive, an unnatural woman. To these she added a few other offenses. She made Rome feel uncouth, insecure, and poor, sufficient cause for anxiety without adding sexuality into the mix. ~ Stacy Schiff
Julius quotes by Stacy Schiff
Brutus, a young man, over the fleet and those Gallic vessels which he had ordered to be furnished by the Pictones and the Santoni, and the other provinces which remained at peace; and commands him to proceed towards the Veneti, as soon as he could. He himself hastens thither with the land forces. ~ Gaius Julius Caesar
Julius quotes by Gaius Julius Caesar
As the idea imparted by the term Cataclysm, Catastrophe, or Revolution, is extremely vague, and may comprehend any thing you choose to imagine, it answers for the time very well as an explanation; that is, it stops further inquiry. But it also has had the disadvantage of effectually stopping the advance of science, by involving it in obscurity and confusion. ~ George Julius Poulett Scrope
Julius quotes by George Julius Poulett Scrope
Any outcome, any deal that doesn't preserve the freedom and openness of the internet for consumers and entrepreneurs will be unacceptable. ~ Julius Genachowski
Julius quotes by Julius Genachowski
Don't try to nice your way out of this. It's insulting. ~ Rachel Aaron
Julius quotes by Rachel Aaron
If a door is shut, attempts should be made to open it; if it is ajar, it should be pushed until it is wide open. In neither case should the door be blown up at the expense of those inside. ~ Julius Nyerere
Julius quotes by Julius Nyerere
Many are the things I guess we'd like to go back in time and rectify the things we didn't do right, eh? ~ Julius Schwartz
Julius quotes by Julius Schwartz
In general, I found that the more that debates can be about facts and data, the more likely government is to make sound decisions that benefit innovators and the American people. ~ Julius Genachowski
Julius quotes by Julius Genachowski
Let us repeat this: inner action must precede all other action. ~ Julius Evola
Julius quotes by Julius Evola
One of the things I've come to realize is that, like every new technology and like every disruption, broadband has downsides. ~ Julius Genachowski
Julius quotes by Julius Genachowski
If I had done nothing more than bring McCabe's talents to the attention of what has become a world-wide audience--if I had done only this job, I believe I'd have established myself as a force for mass education and enlightenment with immediate and constructive effects on the thinking portion of the population. My association with McCabe has been enough to build a career for anyone.

{Julius on legendary scholar Joseph McCabe} ~ E. Haldeman-Julius
Julius quotes by E. Haldeman-Julius
No nation has the right to make decisions for another nation; no people for another people. ~ Julius Nyerere
Julius quotes by Julius Nyerere
Rome was not the first state of organized gangsterdom, nor was it the last; but it was the only one that managed to bamboozle posterity into an almost universal admiration. Few rational men admire the Huns, the Nazis or the Soviets; but for centuries, schoolboys have been expected to read Julius Caesar's militaristic drivel ("We inflicted heavy losses upon the enemy, our own casualties being very light") and Cato's revolting incitements to war. They have been led to believe that the Romans had attained an advanced level in the sciences, the arts, law, architecture, engineering and everything else. It is my opinion that the alleged Roman achievements are largely a myth; and I feel it is time for this myth to be debunked a little. What the Romans excelled in was bullying, bludgeoning, butchering and blood baths. Like the Soviet Empire, the Roman Empire enslaved peoples whose cultural level was far above their own. They not only ruthlessly vandalized their countries, but they also looted them, stealing their art treasures, abducting their scientists and copying their technical know-how, which the Romans' barren society was rarely able to improve on. No wonder, then, that Rome was filled with great works of art. But the light of culture which Rome is supposed to have emanated was a borrowed light: borrowed from the Greeks and the other peoples that the Roman militarists had enslaved. ~ Petr Beckmann
Julius quotes by Petr Beckmann
To be true to the mythical conception of a God is to be false to the interests of mankind. ~ E. Haldeman-Julius
Julius quotes by E. Haldeman-Julius
Julius Peppers is probably 6'7 and 300 pounds. The great players spend all year round training for 16 games. It isn't fun being on the receiving end. ~ Matthew Stafford
Julius quotes by Matthew Stafford
Julius Peppers is a beast, man. I don't know how many pounds he outweighs me by ... I still try to do things like him to make my game better. ~ Gaines Adams
Julius quotes by Gaines Adams
You cannot develop people. You must allow people to develop themselves. ~ Julius Nyerere
Julius quotes by Julius Nyerere
[Shakespeare realized that] Women are able to understand themselves better on a personal level and survive in the world if they dress in men's clothing, thus living underground, safe (...). The presence of women disguising themselves as men dictates that the play be a comedy; women remaining in their frocks, a tragedy. In four great tragedies -Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othello, and King Lear- almost all the women die (...).
How much the women have to adhere to the rules and regulations of their enviroment makes a large difference. Once Rosalind [disguised as a man in As You Like It] has run away from the court, she has no institutional structures to deal with. Ophelia [in her frocks] is surrounded tightly by institutional structures of family, court, and politics; only by going mad can be get out of it all. ~ Tina Packer
Julius quotes by Tina Packer
But his graduate advisor, the eminent poverty scholar William Julius Wilson, promptly sent Venkatesh into the field. His assignment: to visit Chicago's poorest black neighborhoods with a clipboard and a seventy-question, multiple-choice survey. This was the first question on the survey: How do you feel about being black and poor? a. Very bad b. Bad c. Neither bad nor good d. Somewhat good e. Very good ~ Steven D. Levitt
Julius quotes by Steven D. Levitt
Thanks," he said. "De nada," said Julius. "What does that mean?" said Charlie. "It's nothing, in Spanish." said Julius. "I mean, it means nothing, the word nothing, not that it doesn't mean anything, though of course it doesn't mean anything, it means something: it means nothing. Nothing is what it means. Not that it doesn't mean anything." "No, it means nothing, I know what you mean." said Charlie with a straight face. They started to giggle. ~ Zizou Corder
Julius quotes by Zizou Corder
I am in awe, in admiration of the man who Gaius Julius Caesar was. I don't actually do him as the man himself. He is maybe a distant relative. It's hard to approach the real man because he is such an awesome icon. ~ Karl Urban
Julius quotes by Karl Urban
Being a failure at living your own life as best as you can is better than being a success living the life somebody else says you should live. ~ Julius Lester
Julius quotes by Julius Lester
In 1981, at age 31, I was voted the best player in basketball, and the most valuable player in the league. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
The first professional game that I ever played remains, to me, the most exciting moment of my professional career. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving

Julius quotes by Julius Boros
Let us keep our mouths shut and our pens dry until we know the facts. ~ Anton Julius Carlson
Julius quotes by Anton Julius Carlson
Silence was not the absence of sound but was itself a sound that could be loud or soft, soothing or disturbing, complex or simple. ~ Julius Lester
Julius quotes by Julius Lester
I love you," Julius observed at last. "To a degree that frankly startles me. ~ K.J. Charles
Julius quotes by K.J. Charles
When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down "happy". They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didn't understand life. ~ Gaius Julius Caesar
Julius quotes by Gaius Julius Caesar
There is a superior unity of all those who despite all, fight in different parts of the world the same battle, lead the same revolt, and are the bearers of the same intangible Tradition. These forces appear to be scattered and isolated in the world, and yet are inexorably connected by a common essence that is meant to preserve the absolute ideal of the Imperium and to work for its return. ~ Julius Evola
Julius quotes by Julius Evola
At the bar on the Favoritenstrasse, Julius the policeman talked to us about dignity, evolution, the great Darwin and the great Nietzsche. I translated so that my good friend Ulises could understand what he was saying, although I didn't understand any of it. The prayer of the bones, said Julius. The yearning for health. The virtue of danger. The tenacity of the forgotten. Bravo, said my good friend Ulises. Bravo, said everyone else. The limits of memory. The wisdom of plants. The eye of parasites. The agility of the earth. The merit of the soldier. The cunning of the giant. The hole of the will. Magnificent, said my good friend Ulises in German. Extraordinary. ~ Roberto Bolano
Julius quotes by Roberto Bolano
People don't read bylines. ~ Julius Schwartz
Julius quotes by Julius Schwartz
If we do meet again, why, we shall smile;
if not this parting was well made. ~ One William Shakespeare
Julius quotes by One William Shakespeare
Vergil waited no longer. He took Boris's sword and plunged it into his chest. Boris went limp gently, as if he were drifting into a nap. Vergil held on to the sword for a second, and then pulled it out of the fallen angel, clutching it with fervor. Sadly, I realized that this wouldn't be the last time great force would have to be used against my fellow angels. I had no words for the rest of them in the Fellowship Hall. My optimism was very low and I saw no sign of the situation getting better. God's angelic host was divided. My friends, scattered. Lucifer's army was intimidating and many of his soldiers were dispersed among us, ready to strike at our most vulnerable moments. I myself was unsure how we were going to succeed. But one thing I did know - we all needed to pray. Unlike Lucifer, I needed God in my life. ~ Julius St. Clair
Julius quotes by Julius St. Clair
I demand more from myself than anybody could ever expect. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
And Brutus is an honorable man, ~ Julius Caesar
Julius quotes by Julius Caesar
My life's mission is to unmask the Jews. ~ Julius Streicher
Julius quotes by Julius Streicher
P. 274 ... his trademark decision to surrender power as commander in chief and then president, was not ... a sign that he had conquered his ambitions, but rather that he fully realized that all ambitions were inherently insatiable and unconquerable. He knew himself well enough to resist the illusion that he transcended human nature. Unlike Julius Caesar and Oliver Cromwell before him, and Napoleon, Lenin, and Mao after him, he understood that the greater glory resided in posterity's judgment. If you aspire to live forever in the memory of future generations, you must demonstrate the ultimate self-confidence to leave the final judgment to them. And he did. ~ Joseph J. Ellis
Julius quotes by Joseph J. Ellis
One thing becomes very clear; if the Empire declines and if it continues to exist only nominally, its antagonist, the Church, after enjoying untrammeled freedom from its ancient foe, did not know how to assume its legacy, and demonstrated its inability to organize the Western world according to the Guelph ideal. What replaced the Empire was not the Church at the head of a reinvigorated "Christendom," but the multiplicity of national states that were increasingly intolerant of any higher principle of authority. ~ Julius Evola
Julius quotes by Julius Evola
The ones who become stars or superstars are the ones who have a head on their shoulders and know how to use it. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
Okay, why don't we practice your talking with Marguerite? OUT LOUD. I'll be her."
Julius stared at him blankly. "Now?"
"No, I was thinking maybe next April. Then you could maybe give her a call, arrange a date ... "
He arched his eyebrow in question, and snapped, "Yes, NOW. ~ Lynsay Sands
Julius quotes by Lynsay Sands
The greatness of our Army has always been the ability of our soldiers who serve in the ranks to rise to the challenge against the odds, in the face of danger, and win. ~ Julius W. Gates
Julius quotes by Julius W. Gates
We look back on history, and what do we see? Empires rising and falling; revolutions and counter-revolutions succeeding one another; wealth accumulating and wealth dispersed; one nation dominant and then another. As Shakespeare's King Lear puts it, "the rise and fall of great ones that ebb and flow with the moon." In one lifetime I've seen my fellow countrymen ruling over a quarter of the world, and the great majority of them convinced – in the words of what is still a favorite song – that God has made them mighty and will make them mightier yet. I've heard a crazed Austrian announce the establishment of a German Reich that was to last for a thousand years; an Italian clown report that the calendar will begin again with his assumption of power; a murderous Georgian brigand in the Kremlin acclaimed by the intellectual elite as wiser than Solomon, more enlightened than Ashoka, more humane than Marcus Aurelius. I've seen America wealthier than all the rest of the world put together; and with the superiority of weaponry that would have enabled Americans, had they so wished, to outdo an Alexander or a Julius Caesar in the range and scale of conquest. All in one little lifetime – gone with the wind: England now part of an island off the coast of Europe, threatened with further dismemberment; Hitler and Mussolini seen as buffoons; Stalin a sinister name in the regime he helped to found and dominated totally for three decades; Americans haunted by fears of running out of the precious ~ Malcolm Muggeridge
Julius quotes by Malcolm Muggeridge
We're at the opening of the Globe." She thought back to Daniel's words under the peach trees at Sword & Cross. "Daniel told me we were here."
"Sure, you were here," Bill said. "About fourteen years ago.Perched on your older brother's shoulder. You came with your family to see Julius Caesar."
Bill hovered in the air a foot in front of her. It was unappetizing, but the high collar around her neck actually seemed to hold its shape. She almost resembled the sumptuously dressed women in the higher boxes.
"And Daniel?" she asked.
"Daniel was a player-"
"Hey!"
"That's whay they called the actors." Bill rolled his eyes. "He was just starting out then. To everyone else in the audience, his debut was utterly forgettable. But to little three-year-old Lucinda"-Bill shrugged-"it put the fire in you. You've been quote-unquote dying to get onstage ever since.Tonight's your night."
"I'm an actor? ~ Lauren Kate
Julius quotes by Lauren Kate
It is a work of psychogeography, albeit in a less explicit sense than Iain Sinclair's or Will Self's. It had to be fiction though, because I needed that freedom of including whatever belonged, and cutting out whatever didn't. The main fiction in it was matching Julius' generous and self-concealing character to New York's generous and self-concealing character. I think this also adds to my answer about New York's personality in the book. ~ Teju Cole
Julius quotes by Teju Cole
Being a professional," Julius Erving once said, "is doing the things you love to do, on the days you don't feel like doing them."16 ~ Daniel H. Pink
Julius quotes by Daniel H. Pink
It's impossible that the improbable will never happen. ~ Emil Julius Gumbel
Julius quotes by Emil Julius Gumbel
I have to write what I can write, and writing the text of a picture book is like walking a tightrope, if you ramble off ... As my friend Julius Lester says, 'A picture book is the essence of an experience.' ~ Patricia MacLachlan
Julius quotes by Patricia MacLachlan
I demand more of myself than anyone else could ever expect. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
My principles are only those that, before the French Revolution, every well-born person considered sane and normal. ~ Julius Evola
Julius quotes by Julius Evola

Julius quotes by Julius Caesar
To be an innovator, you can't be worried about making mistakes. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
Should we really let our people starve so we can pay our debts. ~ Julius Nyerere
Julius quotes by Julius Nyerere
It struck him as curious that you could create dead men but not living ones. Comrade Ogilvy, who had never existed in the present, now existed in the past, and when once the act of forgery was forgotten, he would exist just as authentically, and upon the same evidence, as Charlemagne or Julius Caesar. ~ George Orwell
Julius quotes by George Orwell
His life was gentle; and the elements
So mixed in him, that Nature might stand up
And say to all the world, THIS WAS A MAN! ~ William Shakespeare
Julius quotes by William Shakespeare
Anxiously, he touched the lump on his head again, then felt his injured leg, groaning. "The whole affair is a mystery to me," he said. "Who would want to steal anything from me?"
"Perhaps a thief ... ?" ventured Julius. ~ Henry Winterfeld
Julius quotes by Henry Winterfeld
O Judgment ! Thou art fled to brutish beasts, and men have lost their reason ! ~ William Shakespeare
Julius quotes by William Shakespeare
When beggars die there are no comets seen; The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes. ~ Barbara W. Tuchman
Julius quotes by Barbara W. Tuchman
How DARE you and the rest of your barbarians set fire to my library? Play conqueror all you want, Mighty Caesar! Rape, murder, pillage thousands, even millions of human beings! But neither you nor any other barbarian has the right to destroy one human thought! ~ William Shakespeare
Julius quotes by William Shakespeare
I love the name of honor more than I fear death. ~ Gaius Julius Caesar
Julius quotes by Gaius Julius Caesar
All writers of the Chaldaean period associate monotheism in the closest way with unity of worship. ~ Julius Wellhausen
Julius quotes by Julius Wellhausen
In the Islamic tradition a distinction is made between two holy wars, the "greater holy war" (el-jihadul-akbar) and the "lesser holy war" (el-jihadul-ashgar). This distinction originated from a saying (hadith) of the Prophet, who on the way back from a military expedition said: "You have returned from a lesser holy war to a great holy war." The greater holy war is of an inner and spiritual nature; the other is the material war waged externally against an enemy population with the particular intent of bringing "infidel" populations under the rule of "God's Law" (al-Islam). The relationship between the "greater" and "lesser holy war", however, mirrors the relationship between the soul and the body; in order to understand the heroic asceticism or "path of action", it is necessary to understand the situation in which the two paths merge, the "lesser holy war" becoming the means through which a "greater holy war" is carried out, and vice versa: the "little holy war", or the external one, becomes almost a ritual action that expresses and gives witness to the reality of the first. Originally, orthodox Islam conceived of a unitary form of asceticism: that which is connected to the jihad or "holy war". ~ Julius Evola
Julius quotes by Julius Evola
I don't remember what I did fifty years ago. ~ Julius Schwartz
Julius quotes by Julius Schwartz
I joined the Aspen Institute, which is a terrific nonpartisan center. They have a wonderful effort that focuses on the impact of communications technology on society and our economy. ~ Julius Genachowski
Julius quotes by Julius Genachowski
I write because the lives of all of us are stories. If enough of those stories are told, then perhaps we will begin to see that our lives are the same story. The differences are merely in the details. ~ Julius Lester
Julius quotes by Julius Lester
Only in Brutus and his fellow-conspirators - of all Shakespearian characters - do we find the least consideration for liberty, and even then he makes the common, and perhaps in his time the unavoidable, mistake of overlooking the genuinely democratic leanings of Julius Caesar and the anti-popular character of the successful plot against him. ~ William Shakespeare
Julius quotes by William Shakespeare
Yesterday, when we were packing, Julius asked me,
"If you could rub Tulip out of your past life, would you do it?"
And I had to shake my head. I can't regret the times we had together. Sometimes I worry I won't have times like that again, that there will be no lit nights, no incandescent days. But I know it's not true. There can be colour in a million ways. I know I'll find it on my own. ~ Anne Fine
Julius quotes by Anne Fine
And I continued to grow until I was 25 years old. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
When I went to Philadelphia I was 26 years old and really sitting on top of the world. Family life, a professional career, plenty of friends and associates, and a good reputation, a wish list that could be the envy of many. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
I think that my God-given physical attributes, big hands, and big feet, the way that I'm built, proportion-wise, just made basketball the most inviting sport for me to play. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
Julius Caesar. His murder is a pivot point for the rest of the action to take place. Other examples?"

"Othello," said Amber.

"Murder for jealousy. Others?"

"Hamlet," offered Heather.

"Murder for power. Others?"

"The Sopranos," said Rick. Everyone laughed.

"Murder of the English language," Skyler quipped, gathering another smattering of laughter. ~ Haley Walsh
Julius quotes by Haley Walsh
They are taking steps, but they are baby steps. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
The putter looks like a bunch of nuts and bolts welded together, but the ball goes in the hole. ~ Julius Boros
Julius quotes by Julius Boros
Caesar, Now be still, I killed not thee with half so good a will? ~ William Shakespeare
Julius quotes by William Shakespeare
The much-vaunted sex appeal of American women is drawn from films, reviews and pin-ups, and is in large print fictitious. A recent medical survey in the United States showed that 75% of young American women are without strong sexual feeling and instead of satisfying their libido they seek pleasure narcissistically in exhibitionism, vanity, and the cult of fitness and health in a sterile sense. ~ Julius Evola
Julius quotes by Julius Evola
What a pity it is that there are so many words! Whenever one wants to say anything, three or four ways of saying it run into one's head together; and one can't tell which to choose. It is as troublesome and puzzling as choosing a ribbon ... or a husband. ~ Julius Charles Hare
Julius quotes by Julius Charles Hare
To be great we need to win games we aren't supposed to win. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
Living your life with honor
Brings forth friends
You didn't know you had ~ Frank Julius
Julius quotes by Frank Julius
What would they do if I said I hurt so much I feel like I want to die?
- Jeremy Richards ~ Julius Lester
Julius quotes by Julius Lester
But you raised a ruckus about and threatened to perform a Julius Caesarian on anybody on anybody who calls April the cruelest month- I was Damn born out of the loins of my father in the spring of April, you claimed. Surgeon, you stood up for the month of buds and bitches like a true Kuon Kunos ~ Aporva Kala
Julius quotes by Aporva Kala
The business of philosophy is to circumnavigate human nature. ~ Julius Charles Hare
Julius quotes by Julius Charles Hare
One has to be foolish or irredeemably stupid to believe that anything good can come to Europe from the land of presumed opportunity. ~ Julius Streicher
Julius quotes by Julius Streicher
For Brutus, as you know, was Caesar's angel:
Judge, O you gods, how dearly Caesar loved him!
This was the most unkindest cut of all ~ William Shakespeare
Julius quotes by William Shakespeare
Do you believe in the existence of Socrates? Alexander the Great? Julius Caesar? If historicity is established by written records in multiple copies that date originally from near contemporaneous sources, there is far more proof for Christ's existence than for any of theirs. ~ Dinesh D'Souza
Julius quotes by Dinesh D'Souza
I've always tried to tell myself that the work itself is the thing, that win, lose, or draw, the work is really what counts. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
If we assume that the last breath of, say, Julius Caesar has by now become thoroughly scattered through the atmosphere, then the chances are that each of us inhales one molecule of it with every breath we take. ~ James Hopwood Jeans
Julius quotes by James Hopwood Jeans
I have been a strong supporter of a free and open Internet and have indicated this both prior to and subsequent to being sworn in as chairman of the F.C.C. I believe it is important to take concrete and reasonable steps to protect the freedom of users and entrepreneurs and businesses both small and large on the Internet. ~ Julius Genachowski
Julius quotes by Julius Genachowski
The key to my work is that I stopped, physically, to observe something. I raised my camera and recorded my observations. ~ Julius Shulman
Julius quotes by Julius Shulman
Which death is preferably to every other? 'The unexpected'. ~ Julius Caesar
Julius quotes by Julius Caesar
One of the most predictable things in life is there will be change. You are better off if you can have a say in the change. But you are ignorant or naive if you don't think there will be change, whether you want it to or not. ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
It is the custom of the immortal gods to grant temporary prosperity and a fairly long period of impunity to those whom they plan to punish for their crimes, so that they may feel it all the more keenly as a result of the change in their fortunes. ~ Julius Caesar
Julius quotes by Julius Caesar
Goals determine what your going to be ~ Julius Erving
Julius quotes by Julius Erving
New Agers can often be a precious breed of born-again goody-goodies. They are unbelievably delusional about their own spirituality, fully believing they're the reincarnation of Julius Caesar or Cleopatra ~ Karl Wiggins
Julius quotes by Karl Wiggins
I maintain that the period during the first half of the 1990s, the period in which rising inequality reached its peak, was a period in which we came very, very close to a demagogic immobilization of racism in this society. ~ William Julius Wilson
Julius quotes by William Julius Wilson
Your secret behavior will be inherited by your children! If Nelson Mandela was a symbol of reconciliation; then reconciliation is our character. If Kwame Nkrumah was a symbol of unity; then unity is our character. If Patrice Lumumba was a symbol of patriotism; then patriotism is our character. If Robert Mugabe is a symbol of dictatorship; then dictatorship is our character. If Haile Selassie was a symbol of heroism; then heroism is our character. If Samora Machel was a symbol of socialism; then socialism is our character. If Julius Kambarage Nyerere was a symbol of justice; then justice is our character. We are the children of the African patriarchs! They are the fathers of the African nations! We have inherited their secret behaviors. ~ Enock Maregesi
Julius quotes by Enock Maregesi
"Would you tax God?" asks a defender of church tax exemption. Well, if there were a God he should be able to pay his own way and support his own business. If not, then he should do like other business men and close up shop. ~ E. Haldeman-Julius
Julius quotes by E. Haldeman-Julius
those who are weak enough to think this a degrading task, and the time and labour which have been devoted to it misemployed, I shall content myself with opposing the authority of the greatest man of any age, JULIUS CAeSAR, of whom Bacon observes, that 'in his book of Apothegms which he collected, we see that he esteemed it more honour to make himself but a pair of tables, to take the wise and pithy words of others, than to have every word of his own to be made an apothegm or an oracle.' Having said thus much by way of introduction, I commit the following pages to the candour of the Publick. ~ Anonymous
