It was a slim volume, and its position on the shelf wasn't exactly prime: crowded on the left by an overweight biography of a minor actress, and on the right by the once-bestselling novel of an author that everyone had since forgotten, it hardly left its spine visible to even the most rigorous browser. When the store changed owners it fell victim to a massive clearance, and was trucked off to another warehouse, foul, dingy, crawling with daddy longlegs, where it remained in the dark and damp before finally being sent to a small secondhand bookstore not far from the home of the writer Jorge Luis Borges.

The owner took her time unpacking the books she'd bought cheaply and in bulk from the warehouse. One morning, going through the boxes, she discovered the mildewed copy of The History of Love. She'd never heard of it, but the title caught her eye. She put it aside, and during a slow hour in the shop she read the opening chapter, called 'The Age of Silence.'

Don't we all want to be in charge, one way or another? Sure, you may not like the idea of being a leader, but everyone wants to be in charge of their life . We all want to control what good and bad we encounter. But it's not possible. We're not worthy. We're not capable. Only God is! Sometimes you may think life is not fair. And it's completely natural to think this. But life is totally fair! In fact, Jesus has given us so much mercy and grace! Imagine, if Jesus weren't so perfect and amazing, if he didn't spare us, we'd as Christians go through 5 times as hard as what we're going through now. So be grateful for the little things that go right, and be grateful for the times that God has intervened in your life and heard your calls of pain, because they matter and God loves his sheep. ~ No Longer Available
