It's hard because people often don't recognise shyness; they think it's just someone being rude. I have had to work to overcome that, especially if I'm meeting my readers at author events, because I don't want them to think I'm snooty or rude. ~ Karin Slaughter
Being Rude quotes by Karin Slaughter
If you have ever been accused of being rude when you were merely stating the truth, or called a gossip because you like to dwell on other people's actions, Westacott is for you. His linked studies of everyday vices offer elegant analysis of the goods that lurk in behavior that is usually condemned. This wise book is practical philosophy in the best sense. ~ Mark Kingwell
Being Rude quotes by Mark Kingwell
I'm a writer. If I'm staring at you, I'm not being rude. I'm trying to decide if you need to go in a book.
If you're a snot, I may be trying to decide how to kill you. ~ Anonymous
Being Rude quotes by Anonymous
Guilt was not a good look for him - it gave one unsightly lines. And now he felt bad for being rude to the housekeeper, as well. Damnation. He was going to have to cheat at cards and seduce a married woman just to get his equilibrium back. ~ Kady Cross
Being Rude quotes by Kady Cross
I don't think you should be allowed to eat in a restaurant if you haven't waited tables at least once. It's so irritating when I see people being rude to waiters, like, it makes me want to slit their throats! Like, really? You're really this inconsiderate? ~ Lizzy Caplan
Being Rude quotes by Lizzy Caplan
That's the beauty of the Web: You can roll around in a stranger's obsession without having to smell his or her house. You can amscray whenever you want without being rude. The site gets its "hit" and you know more about our species' diversity. ~ Penn Jillette
Being Rude quotes by Penn Jillette
Definitely that kind of owner, he thought. Self-made man proud of his handiwork. Confuses bluffness and honesty with merely being rude. I wouldn't mind betting a dollar that he thinks he can tell a man's character by testing the firmness of his handshake and looking deeply into his eyes. ~ Terry Pratchett
Being Rude quotes by Terry Pratchett
People moan about Twitter, people being rude and trolling. Just turn it off. Life goes on. ~ Tom Parker Bowles
Being Rude quotes by Tom Parker Bowles
You should encourage a child to show off. You can say to a child, 'Stop being rude,' 'Stop shouting,' 'Stop jumping around on the furniture.' But 'Stop showing off'? That's awful. ~ Charles Dance
Being Rude quotes by Charles Dance
If your friend knows you at all, she is being rude by pressuring you to do something that is bad for you. Yes, bad for you. Engaging in a painful activity that leaves you feeling crummy about yourself is self-destructive. But your friend is probably not a jerk - you wouldn't have chosen her for a friend if she were. She's just following the social rules. And you may be following them too. ~ Laurie A. Helgoe
Being Rude quotes by Laurie A. Helgoe
Listen, you don't have to get up or anything. Galen just...uh...went for a swim. He'll be back real soon."
I look between them and past the beach. I shake my head.
"What? What's wrong, Emma?" he asks. I like Toraf. He seems genuinely concerned about me, without ever having met me. Rayna looks as if she might want to stomp on my head and finish the job I started with the cafeteria door.
"Storm," I say. The one syllable word polka-dots my vision.
Toraf smiles. "He'll be back before the storm. Can I get you anything? Something to eat? Something to drink?"
"A taxi?" Rayna pitches in.
"Go to the kitchen, Rayna," he says. "Unless you're ready to go find an island?"
I'm not sure how far away the kitchen is, but it seems like she stomps for a good five minutes. Finding an island doesn't really seem like a fitting punishment for being rude, but since I do have a head injury, I give them the benefit of the doubt. Plus, there's always the possibility that I imagined the whole thing.
"Do you mind if I sit?" Toraf says.
I shake my head. He eases onto the edge of the couch and pulls the blanket back over me. I hope he takes my nod for "Thanks."
He crouches down and whispers, "Listen, Emma. Before Galen gets back. There's something I want to ask you. Oh, don't worry, it's a yes or no question. No talking involved."
I hope he takes my nod for "Sure, why not? You're nice."
He glances around, as if he's about to rob me instead of ask ~ Anna Banks
Being Rude quotes by Anna Banks
You know when things are bad when you feel guilty for being rude to vampires. ~ Stephenie Meyer
Being Rude quotes by Stephenie Meyer
If something is worth being rude about, it is worth understanding as well. ~ David Bentley
Being Rude quotes by David Bentley
Jim Sheridan, the MP who wants to ban sketchwriters from the Commons for being rude about politicians, is a blithering idiot. Sorry, scrub that - clearly a very thoughtful person with whom I might conceivably disagree on some marginal issues. A blithering savant, perhaps. ~ Simon Hoggart
Being Rude quotes by Simon Hoggart
Are you sure you don't remember? Your mind seems to be working just fine to me."
"You know what? Just forget it. Whatever it was, I forgive you. Give me my backpack so I can go back to the office. We're about to get busted anyway, just standing here."
"If you really do forgive me, then you wouldn't still be going to the office." He tightens his hold on the strap of my backpack.
"Ohmysweetgoodness, Galen, why are we even having this conversation? You don't even know me. What do you care if I change my schedule?" I know I'm being rude. The guy offered to carry my things and walk me to class. And depending on which version of the story I believe, he either asked me out on Monday already, or he did it indirectly a few seconds ago. None of it makes any sense. Why me? Without any effort, I can think of at least ten girls who beat me out in looks, personality, and darker foundation. And Galen could pull any of them.
"What, you don't have a question for my question?" I ask after a few seconds.
"It just seems silly for you to change your schedule over a disagreement about when the Titanic-"
I throw my hands up at him. "Don't you see how weird this is for me?"
"I'm trying to, Emma. I really am. But I think you've had a tough couple of weeks, and it's taking a toll on you. You said every time you're around me something bad happens. But you can't really know for sure that's true, unless you spend more time with me. You should at least acknowledge that." ~ Anna Banks
Being Rude quotes by Anna Banks
Christians often threaten atheists with eternal torture. But if we say that they're delusional, they will tell us that we're being rude. ~ Mark Thomas
Being Rude quotes by Mark Thomas
The ability of mixing sweetness with sarcasm, to the point that the other person has no idea if I'm being rude or not. It's an art really - charlie ~ Megan Whitmer
Being Rude quotes by Megan Whitmer
Canadians are more polite when they are being rude than Americans are when they are being friendly. ~ Edgar Friedenberg
Being Rude quotes by Edgar Friedenberg
In some cases, she was actively trying not to make friends, though she usually stopped short of being rude. (Uptight, tense, and mildly misanthropic? Yes. Rude? No.) ~ Rainbow Rowell
Being Rude quotes by Rainbow Rowell
I don't like people being rude. Bad manners and arrogance make me cross. People making others feel uncomfortable. And I really don't like it in restaurants when people are rude or patronising to waiters. I feel like saying, 'They're not your slave'. But my knees only shake around once every five years. You're safe, don't worry. ~ Alan Titchmarsh
Being Rude quotes by Alan Titchmarsh
What's that?" he asked.
"A balance sheet," I said. "To keep track of your payments."
He asked whether Pop had written it or me. When I answered truthfully, he handed the paper back like the useless thing it was. "Thank you," he said. "I won't be needing this."
Which took me by surprise and set me stammering how it was proof he was making his payments, and how he should take it because it was the right and proper way to do business.
"The rules aren't the same for me as they are for you," Joseph replied, shaking his head. "Don't you know that, Will?" Which put my nose out of joint so bad that I told him he was being rude, and that I was only trying to do him a favor at no small risk to myself.
Joseph's face went blank as the cloudless sky overhead. He eyed the receipt. Said, "Thank you, Mr. William. But I can't accept." And got back on his bicycle.
"That all you got to say?" I near shouted, frustrated at how easily he'd turned my good intentions into a fool's errand. And the quickest flash of hate you ever did see danced across the dark of his eyes.
I stood there, feeling awkward and a fool. Joseph put one foot on a pedal and said, real quiet, "If you'll excuse me, I've a funeral to attend."
Only then did I notice the band of mourning black around his upper arm.
"Who died?" I asked stupidly.
Joseph's eyes were flat. "Nobody important, Mr. William. Only a Negro boy like me. ~ Jennifer Latham
Being Rude quotes by Jennifer Latham
People were strange like that. They could be completely uninterested in you, but the moment you picked up a book, you were the one being rude. ~ Katarina Bivald
Being Rude quotes by Katarina Bivald
You can be strong and true to yourself without being rude or loud. ~ Paula Radcliffe
Being Rude quotes by Paula Radcliffe
There is a guilty pleasure in being rude and knowing that it's acting rather than you. But you get the same release as if you were being rude in life. ~ Laurence Fox
Being Rude quotes by Laurence Fox
Being rude to someone loving all the time can make your loving behavior same as your rude one for that person. So you should not always be rude in small mistakes ~ Pawan Mehra
Being Rude quotes by Pawan Mehra
I have more pet peeves than anybody: people talking in the movie theater, people eating in the movie theater loudly, people being rude, people making noise when you're supposed to be asleep, like drilling noises outside. I could be here all day. ~ Kate Beckinsale
Being Rude quotes by Kate Beckinsale
A fit body gives you confidence. And there's nothing more impressive than a great attitude, which you can wear on your sleeve. But you'll have to remember the difference between being rude and being confident. ~ Virat Kohli
Being Rude quotes by Virat Kohli
I'm rarely in a position where I can actually answer my phone without being rude to someone else. Sometimes I look back and realize it's been weeks since I've actually been alone. With texting, I can at least get a sense of what's going on without interrupting what I'm doing. ~ Steve Huffman
Being Rude quotes by Steve Huffman
Journalists are accused of being lapdogs when they don't ask the hard questions, but then accused of being rude when they do. Good thing we have tough hides. ~ Gwen Ifill
Being Rude quotes by Gwen Ifill
Jane: Missy was not so subtly reminding me that she had done something nice for me and here i was being rude when all she was asking me to do was attend a nice party. This was the way southern women worked all peaches & cream laced with arsenic. ~ Molly Harper
Being Rude quotes by Molly Harper
The Romans, accordingly, admiring the prudence and virtues of Numa, assented to all the measures which he recommended. This, however, is to be said, that the circumstance of these times being deeply tinctured with religious feeling, and of the men with whom he had to deal being rude and ignorant, gave Numa better facility to carry out his plans, as enabling him to mould his subjects readily to any new impression. And, doubtless, he who should seek at the present day to form a new commonwealth, would find the task easier among a race of simple mountaineers, than among the dwellers in cities where society is corrupt; as the sculptor can more easily carve a fair statue from a rough block, than from the block which has been badly shaped out by another. ~ Niccolo Machiavelli
Being Rude quotes by Niccolo Machiavelli
I'm pretty sarcastic, and sometimes that doesn't come across on the Internet. It seems like I'm being rude or stupid. ~ Sky Ferreira
Being Rude quotes by Sky Ferreira
Cletus Byron Winston, you are being rude." I might have my own less than glowing thoughts about my father, but he was my father.

He opened his mouth to respond, then snapped it shut and did a double take, his eyes narrowing on me. "First of all, how do you know my middle name?"

"Your momma used to use it when you were naughty, when you boys would help her shelve books in the library. 'Cletus Byron! Stop stuffing Astrophysics Monthly down your pants!'"

Cletus grinned. Then he chuckled. His eyes lost some of their zealous focus as he pushed away from the tree and strolled closer. "Oh yeah. She did, didn't she?"

"I felt sorry for Billy, though." I scooched to one side as he sat down. "His name always confused everyone, like your momma was trying to talk to Shakespeare's ghost. 'William Shakespeare, would you please stop Beauford from pulling down his pants in front of the girls?'"

Cletus laughed harder, leaning backward and holding his stomach. "I remember that. How old was Beau?"

"He was ten. He was trying to show us his new Tarzan underwear. I don't think he meant any harm."

"He sure did love that underwear." Cletus nodded and he scratched his beard. "I'm going to have to find him some Tarzanunderwear in adult size."

"So you can torture him about it?"

He pretended to be shocked by my accusation. "Certainly not. I don't torture my siblings."

"Yeah, right." I gave him my ~ Penny Reid
Being Rude quotes by Penny Reid
The thing about hearing loss is that no one can see it. Most people are so impatient; they just assume that the person with hearing loss is being rude, or slow-witted. ~ Marion Ross
Being Rude quotes by Marion Ross
You are always living a reflection of whatever you are outputting. And so, if you get into a little pocket where a lot of people are being rude, it's probably because you are being rude - or because you have been aware of people being rude. Nothing ever happens to you that is not part of your vibration! ~ Esther Hicks
Being Rude quotes by Esther Hicks
Cath wasn't trying to make new friends here. In some cases, she was actively trying not to make friends, though she usually stopped short of being rude. ~ Rainbow Rowell
Being Rude quotes by Rainbow Rowell
I'm definitely a crier. I get really emotional if someone's being rude or says something mean about me. ~ Sky Ferreira
Being Rude quotes by Sky Ferreira
Can I cuddle up with you when you sleep?"

Sma stopped, detached the creature from her shoulder with one hand and stared it in the face. "What?"

"Just for chumminess' sake," the little thing said, yawning wide and blinking. "I'm not being rude; it's a good bonding procedure."

Sma was aware of Skaffen-Amtiskaw glowing red just behind her. She brought the yellow and brown device closer to her face. "Listen, Xenophobe - "

"Xeny."

"Xeny. You are a million-ton starship. A Torturer class Rapid Offensive Unit. Even - "

"But I'm demilitarized!"

"Even without your principle armament, I bet you could waste planets if you wanted to - "

"Aw, come on; any silly GCU can do that!"

"So what's all this shit for?" She shook the furry little remote drone, quite hard. Its teeth chattered.

"It's for a laugh!" it cried. "Sma, don't you appreciate a joke?"

"I don't know. Do you appreciate being drop-kicked back to the accommodation area?"

"Ooh! What's your problem, lady? Have you got something against small furry animals, or what?" Look Ms. Sma, I know very well I'm a ship, and I do everything I'm asked to do - including taking you to this frankly rather fuzzily specified destination - and do it very efficiently, too. If there was the slightest sniff of any real action, and I had to start acting like a warship, this construct in your hands would go lifeless ~ Iain M. Banks
Being Rude quotes by Iain M. Banks
Supposing an emperor was persuaded to wear a new suit of clothes whose material was so fine that, to the common eye, the clothes weren't there. And suppose a little boy pointed out this fact in a loud, clear voice ...
Then you have The Story of the Emperor Who Had No Clothes.
But if you knew a bit more, it would be The Story of the Boy Who Got a Well-Deserved Thrashing from His Dad for Being Rude to Royalty, and Was Locked Up.
Or The Story of the Whole Crowd Who Were Rounded Up by the Guards and Told 'This Didn't Happen, OK? Does Anyone Want to Argue?'
Or it could be a story of how a whole kingdom suddenly saw the benefit of the 'new clothes', and developed an enthusiasm for healthy sports in a lively and refreshing atmosphere which got many new adherents every year, and led to a recession caused by the collapse of the conventional clothing industry.
It could even be a story about The Great Pneumonia Epidemic of '09.
It all depends on how much you know. ~ Terry Pratchett
Being Rude quotes by Terry Pratchett
Shakra scowled. "You're a moron."
"Being rude does not make you more intelligent that I."
"No, being more intelligent than you makes me more intelligent than you, you goat-brained simpleton."
"I did not come here to be insulted."
"What, do you have somewhere special to go for that kind of thing? ~ Derek Landy
Being Rude quotes by Derek Landy
Tell The Truth.
Most of your problems come from not telling the truth.
The lies you tell, even to spare other people's feelings, always come back to haunt you.
If you simply tell people what you mean you would be better off, a lot happier, not trapped in some awkward social situation. Others will know where they standand will be more honest with you.
They won't expect you to be what you're not. They won'tneed to test you to discover your intentions. You won't have to make excuses for not doing things you didn't want to do or explain why you prefer to do what like to do. They'll know.
Telling the truth and being your own person are closely linked. A strong person says what he or she means. A weak person lies to please others. A strong person lets the truth be other people's problem. A weak person holds the truth inside and complains about being treated unfairly.
What is telling the truth hurts other people's feelings? You're not supposed to tell people that they look fat, are stupid or ugly. That's just being rude.
Tell the truth avout what you feel, want, and like and mean what you say. If other's get hurt by your truth, they'll have to deal with it. Others may not like what you say, but they'll respect you for being honest and they'll survive better than if you lie to them.
If you lie to please people, they won't really believe you. They'll be suspicious and suffer with every inconsistency they find in your story. You'll b ~ David Viscott
Being Rude quotes by David Viscott
There are people who have an image of me as being rude and inconsiderate. But I'm completely the opposite, because I was raised not to be. I might have been tripping over myself drunk, but I was always courteous. ~ Slash
Being Rude quotes by Slash
Laura's bored expression had gradually fallen away as he spoke, and now she looked at him in amazement.
'You do realize I was being rude? Are you being polite because I am a guest and guests are like, what, gods in Indian culture?'
'Only in the history books. We treat guests the same as most people do around the world. Guests are fine as long as they respect boundaries and don't wear out their welcome. But you are more than a guest, Ms Mackenzie, you are a client. And clients are the gods of any business, anywhere in the world. ~ Indu Muralidharan
Being Rude quotes by Indu Muralidharan

Being Rude quotes by Natasha Pulley
I hate when I lose my voice and then people try and talk to me and I seem like I'm being rude and then I hurt their feelings. That sucks. ~ Vince Staples
Being Rude quotes by Vince Staples
What the hell are you tryng to do?"
She gave him an innocent stare. "Why, have a conversation. I suppose you're out of practice."
He glared,narrow-eyed, then turned away. "I'm going for a walk," he muttered.
"Lovely." Gennie slipped her arm through his. "I'll go with you."
"I didn't ask you," Grant said flatly, stopping again.
"Oh." Gennie batted her eyes. "You're trying to charm me by being rude again. It's so difficult to resist. ~ Nora Roberts
Being Rude quotes by Nora Roberts
I take pride in never being rude to anyone on this earth, which contains a great number of unbearable villains who set upon you to recount their sufferings and even recite their poems. ~ Heinrich Heine
Being Rude quotes by Heinrich Heine
Choose to be kind over being right and you'll be right everytime. ~ Richard Carlson
Being Rude quotes by Richard Carlson
Mama says, " Helen Michelle, a lot of women have trouble saying no and then find themselves in worse situations because they were afraid of being rude. So, if you have trouble saying no, say 'No, thank you.' Let's practice. ~ Helen Ellis
Being Rude quotes by Helen Ellis

Being Rude quotes by Donald L. Hicks
Tragedy is one of the larger prices we pay for being alive. No one ever sidesteps tragedy. It is always there, shadowing us. ~ Douglas Kennedy
Being Rude quotes by Douglas Kennedy
Knowing English is important, but for us Venezuelans I think it would also be important to know Portuguese . For that reason, we should evaluate the possibility of it being taught in our schools. ~ Hugo Chavez
Being Rude quotes by Hugo Chavez
Conscious parenting is not about being perfect, it's about being aware. Aware of what your kids need from you to reach more of their full potential. ~ Alex Urbina
Being Rude quotes by Alex Urbina
We seek the fulfilment of strong romantic relationships and friendships, yet striving too hard to achieve security in such relationships stifles them; their flourishing depends on a certain degree of not being protected, of being open to experiences both negative and positive. ~ Oliver Burkeman
Being Rude quotes by Oliver Burkeman
There is an orderliness in the universe, there is an unalterable law governing everything and every being that exists or lives. It is no blind law; for no blind law can govern the conduct of living beings. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Being Rude quotes by Mahatma Gandhi
Yeah his being Sumerian to this group would go over like an Ozzy Osbourne/Marilyn Manson duet at the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting. He might as well be wearing a shit that said "Kibbles and Bits," with a heavy emphasis on the "bits" part ... ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon
Being Rude quotes by Sherrilyn Kenyon

"For what? For being your Tuesday and Thursday girl?"
"For all seven days. Because I think of you on all of them". ~ Sarina Bowen
Being Rude quotes by Sarina Bowen
The best thing about being dead is you no longer have to say 'I wish I were dead.'
The best thing about being alive is that you can still say 'I wish I were dead' ~ Ivor Cutler
Being Rude quotes by Ivor Cutler
I recognize a few more of the attendees: Mustela fae - ferret-like creatures with long, venomous fangs and vulnerable craniums, a hedgehog being with the face of a sparrow, a pink woman with a neck as long as a flamingo. There ~ A.G. Howard
Being Rude quotes by A.G. Howard
I've noticed most women tend to reject gifts when they think they're not worthy of them. In my experience with women, they've been pre-conditioned to be the nurturer and care-giver, and be selfless in the way they conduct themselves. How ridiculous. A woman should be treated like a woman. She should be cared for and cherished. But in the bedroom she should be taken, bent, and brought to her absolute limit before being fucked until she can barely move. ~ Sebastian Ex
Being Rude quotes by Sebastian Ex
What you are is a human being, sensitive and alive, with genius inside of you. Not only that, but you are one of a kind. There has never been anyone like you before. You see the world in a unique way because you have unique gifts. That's the way nature made you. And it will feel like nothing less than fulfilling your destiny to follow those gifts to a rich and exciting life, full of purpose and meaning and enjoyment. ~ Barbara Sher
Being Rude quotes by Barbara Sher
Oh, I just love being a character actress. You have a lot of fun, and not only that, you save tons on cosmetic surgery because you never have to have liposuction. ~ Marcia Gay Harden
Being Rude quotes by Marcia Gay Harden
The birds do not sing, clouds remain of rubber, glass, steel. A stone has lodged in the engine block, the process of rusting has begun. And then darkness, a cold wind, a shred of clothing fluttering where it is snagged on one of the doors which, quite unscathed, lies flat in the grass. And then daylight, changing temperature, a night of cold rain, the short-lived presence of a scavenging rodent. And despite all this chemistry of time, nothing has disturbed the essential integrity of our tableau of chaos, the point being that if design inevitably surrenders to debris, debris inevitably reveals its innate design. ~ John Hawkes
Being Rude quotes by John Hawkes
What he confessed was this. He had not been serving God, after all, when he followed Allen Dulles. He had been on a satanic quest.
These were some of James Jesus Angleton's dying words. He delivered them between fits of calamitous coughing - lung-scraping seizures that still failed to break him of his cigarette habit - and soothing sips of tea. "Fundamentally, the founding fathers of U.S. intelligence were liars," Angleton told Trento in an emotionless voice. "The better you lied and the more you betrayed, the more likely you would be promoted. . . . Outside of their duplicity, the only thing they had in common was a desire for absolute power. I did things that, in looking back on my life, I regret. But I was part of it and loved being in it."
He invoked the names of the high eminences who had run the CIA in his day - Dulles, Helms, Wisner. These men were "the grand masters," he said. "If you were in a room with them, you were in a room full of people that you had to believe would deservedly end up in hell."
Angleton took another slow sip from his steaming cup. "I guess I will see them there soon. ~ David Talbot
Being Rude quotes by David Talbot
People are used to getting a lot of information quickly, and they're used to being quite empowered as consumers, and they go to governments expecting a similar treatment; they want to find data and they want to influence events quickly, and yet they come into this brick wall. ~ Heather Brooke
Being Rude quotes by Heather Brooke
I am running for my Senate district in 2014 and looking forward hopefully to earning the confidence of my community once again and being reelected for that seat. ~ Wendy Davis
Being Rude quotes by Wendy Davis
If we look into our lives and observe relationship, we see it is a process of building resistance against another, a wall over which we look and observe the other; but we always retain the wall and remain behind it, whether it be a psychological wall, a material wall, an economic wall or a national wall. So long as we live in isolation, behind a wall, there is no relationship with another….

The world is so disruptive, there is so much sorrow, so much pain, war, destruction, misery, that we want to escape and live within the walls of security, of our own psychological being. So, relationship with most of us is actually a process of isolation, and obviously such relationship builds a society that is also isolating. That is exactly what is happening throughout the world: you remain in your isolation and stretch your hand over the wall…. ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti
Being Rude quotes by Jiddu Krishnamurti
What is being said is the effect of something that has happened; at the same time, what is being said is in itself something happening, which will, in turn, leave its effect. ~ Elizabeth Bowen
Being Rude quotes by Elizabeth Bowen
I suspect it is simply a feature of being an adult, what I will call being grown, or a grown person, to have endured some variety of thorough emotional turmoil, to have made your way to the brink, and, if you're lucky, to have stepped back from it - if not permanently, then for some time, or time to time. Then it is, too, a kind of grownness by which I see three squares of light on my wall, the shadow of a tree trembling in two of them, and hear the train going by and feel no panic or despair, feel no sense of condemnation or doom or horrible align- ment, but simply observe the signs - light and song - for what they are - light and song. And, knowing what I have felt before, and might feel again, feel a sense of relief, which is cousin to, or rather, water to, delight. ~ Ross Gay
Being Rude quotes by Ross Gay
I'm actually thinking about getting back to being a bath tub. I don't think anyone's ever quite segued into that. ~ David Duchovny
Being Rude quotes by David Duchovny
In Kazahkstan, you would drive five hours outside the city to where roads sort of stop being roads, and it was just in the mountains and deathly quiet. And you could only really hear the clumping of the horses, and it was a sort of a beautiful silence. Like it enveloped you. ~ Benedict Wong
Being Rude quotes by Benedict Wong
All love is bittersweet. Love is inexplicable; it is part poetry and part masochism. Part of love is the loss of self-control because one must openly surrender their sense of an exclusive self to the manic powers of love. The personal act of surrender to a lover leaves one vulnerable to entanglement in a maze of emotions. When we fall in love, our lover's happiness and well-being assumes the primary role in our mind, they become copilots of our souls. When we are in love for the first time, we feel what it means to become a complete person; we identify who we are by seeing our reflection in our lover's eye; and we sense what we might become when infused with love. When our lover leaves us, we feel vexed and vacant because we recognize that they took up such a large part of what made us feel intoxicated with life. When our lover abandons us, we lose our sense of self; we temporarily cease to exist as a whole person, and we must reconstruct the shattered remnants of oneself in the wake of a love lost. ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Being Rude quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
I don't know if I've got swept up. It's so shocking when you hear that Calvin Klein wants you for their new campaign. You're like, 'who me?'. I guess you have to decide where you draw the line between you saying, this is fun, pretty and fabulous, and being over-exposed. ~ Scarlett Johansson
Being Rude quotes by Scarlett Johansson
Maybe we are a little crazy. After all, we believe in things we don't see. The Scriptures say that faith is "being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" (Heb. 11:1). We believe poverty can end even though it is all around us. We believe in peace even though we hear only rumours of wars. And since we are people of expectation, we are so convinced that another world is coming that we start living as if it were already here. ~ Shane Claiborne
Being Rude quotes by Shane Claiborne
Stephanie had been raped, beaten and left for dead on the Atlantic City Boardwalk several times. You'd think she would have hit rock bottom after those experiences. But no. None of that made her quit. It just made her want to use even more drugs, to forget her miserable life. As long as she could get high, she didn't care if she was being raped in a dark alley. At this point in her life, a lethal overdose probably would have felt like her salvation. ~ Oliver Markus
Being Rude quotes by Oliver Markus
I love being able to take a nap in the afternoon. ~ Edie Falco
Being Rude quotes by Edie Falco

Being Rude quotes by Kiersten White
It seems so dreadful to be a bachelor, to become an old man struggling to keep one's dignity while begging for an invitation whenever one wants to spend an evening in company, having to carry one's meal home in one's hand, unable to expect anyone with a lazy sense of calm confidence, able only with difficulty and vexation to give a gift to someone, having to say good night at the front door, never being able to run up a stairway beside one's wife, to lie ill and have only the solace of the view from one's window when one can sit up, to have only side doors in one's room leading into other people's living rooms, to feel estranged from one's family, with whom one can keep on close terms only by marriage, first by the marriage of one's parents, then, when the effect of that has worn off, by one's own, having to admire other people's children and not even being allowed to go on saying: "I have none myself," never to feel oneself grow older since there is no family growing up around one, modeling oneself in appearance and behavior on one or two bachelors remembered from our youth. ~ Franz Kafka
Being Rude quotes by Franz Kafka

It depends entirely upon what is meant by being truly great.
