Lao-tzu didn't actually say very much more about the meaning of Tao. The Way of Nature, the Way of happening self-so, or, if you like, the very process of life, was something which he was much too wise to define. For to try to say anything definite about the Tao is like trying to eat your mouth: you can't get outside it to chew it. To put it the other way round: anything you can chew is not your mouth. ~ Alan W. Watts
Tao quotes by Alan W. Watts
And perhaps this is what Tukten knows - that the journey to Dolpo, step by step and day by day, is the Jewel in the Heart of the Lotus, the Tao, the Way, the Path, but no more so than small events of days at home. ~ Peter Matthiessen
Tao quotes by Peter Matthiessen
The main problem with this great obsession for saving time is very simple: you can't save time. You can only spend it. But you can spend it wisely or foolishly. ~ Benjamin Hoff
Tao quotes by Benjamin Hoff
The great Tao (or way) is very level and easy; but people love the by-ways. ~ Lao Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao Tzu
By this (nature of the Tao). ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
He sometimes felt that life was something that had already risen, and all of this, the Jackson Pollack of spring, summer, and fall, the vague refrigeration and tinfoiled sky of wintertime, was just a falling, really, originward, in a kind of correction, as if by spritual gravity, towards the wiser consciousness
or consciousnessless, maybe; could gravity trick itself like that?
of death. It was a kind of movement both very slow and very fast; there was both too much and not enough time to think. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
Then I did The Tao of Steve and that was at Sundance in 2000 where it did really well. ~ Donal Logue
Tao quotes by Donal Logue
Try smiling quietly when you open your eyes in the morning. Or try saying out loud, "I'm happy." In that moment, the energy of happiness will gather around you. Remember that feeling and express it whenever you get the chance. ~ Ilchi Lee
Tao quotes by Ilchi Lee
Taoism ~ There is no 'other'. All is One. ~ Leland Lewis
Tao quotes by Leland Lewis
The Tao is in all things, in their divisions and their fullness. What I dislike about divisions is that they multiply, and what i dislike about multiplication is that it makes people want to hold fast to it. So people go out and forget to return, seeing little more than ghosts. ~ Zhuangzi
Tao quotes by Zhuangzi
Violence, even well intentioned, always rebounds upon oneself. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
Man suffers only because he takes seriously what the gods made for fun. ~ Alan W. Watts
Tao quotes by Alan W. Watts
What is the Tao Te Ching? Five hundred years before the birth of Jesus, a God-realized being named Lao-tzu in ancient China dictated 81 verses which are regarded by many as the ultimate commentary on the nature of existence. ~ Wayne Dyer
Tao quotes by Wayne Dyer
The Way of Tao is this: It strives not, but conquers; It speaks not, but all is made clear; It summons not, but its house is crowded; It contrives not, but the design is perfect. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
Respond intelligently even to unintelligent treatment. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
Paul Theroux on Blogging, Travel Writing, and Three Cups of Tea

Speaking of books that contain an element of travel, Greg Mortenson's bestseller about Central Asia was in the news recently. Were you surprised by the allegations that Three Cups of Tea contained fabrications?

No, I wasn't. One of the things The Tao of Travel shows is how unforthcoming most travel writers are, how most travelers are. They don't tell you who they were traveling with, and they're not very reliable about things that happened to them. For example, everyone loved John Steinbeck's book Travels With Charley. Turns out he didn't travel alone, his wife kept meeting him, yet she was never mentioned in the book. Steinbeck didn't go to all the places he mentioned, nor did he meet all the people he said he met. In other words, Travels With Charley is fiction, or at least half-fiction. As for Three Cups of Tea, I think that philanthropists and humanitarians are even less forthcoming about what they do. I guess this guy did build a couple of schools in Afghanistan, but a self-promoting humanitarian is not someone I have a great deal of trust or belief in. I lived for six years in Africa and I've been to Africa numerous times since then. People build schools for their own reasons - not to improve a country.

The people I've known who've done great things of that type - you know, building hospitals, running schools - are very humble people. They give their lives to the project. Mi ~ Paul Theroux
Tao quotes by Paul Theroux
We need to transcend our thoughts and desires to truly understand philosophy and the universe as a whole. However, in our everyday life, we deal with the micro universe and with our own affairs. Therefore we need to use our brain. To practice Tao is not to rid yourself of all thoughts. There are actually more occasions when you would use your true intention instead of non-desire. ~ Henry Chang
Tao quotes by Henry Chang
I used to have a very difficult childhood because I was always the tallest girl in school, and everybody was staring at me and saying, 'You are very different.' Now, different is good. ~ Tao Okamoto
Tao quotes by Tao Okamoto
Honesty is proportional to clarity of soul and brightness of consciousness. Being honest allows your soul to be clear and your consciousness to be bright. Genuine honesty, therefore, is not for winning recognition from others, but for getting recognition from ourselves and for recognizing our conscience within. Honesty makes us honorable in our own eyes. ~ Ilchi Lee
Tao quotes by Ilchi Lee
Respect the people you lie to, Tao had taught her. Steal from them long enough, and you will begin to understand them. ~ Brandon Sanderson
Tao quotes by Brandon Sanderson
These are notions of the mind, which is like a knife, always chipping away at the Tao, trying to render it graspable and manageable. But that which is beyond form is ungraspable, and that which is beyond knowing is unmanageable. There is, however, this consolation: She who lets go of the knife will find the Tao at her fingertips. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
Whoever is planted in the Tao will not be rooted up. Whoever embraces the Tao will not slip away. Her name will be held in honor from generation to generation. Let the Tao be present in your life and you will become genuine. Let it be present in your family and your family will flourish. Let it be present in your country and your country will be an example to all countries in the world. Let it be present in the universe and the universe will sing. How do I know this is true? By looking inside myself. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
When affirmation and negation came into being, Tao faded. After Tao faded, then came one-sided attachments. ~ Zhuangzi
Tao quotes by Zhuangzi
My own words are not the medicine, but a prescription; not the destination, but a map to help you reach it. When you get there, quiet your mind and close your mouth. Don't analyze the Tao. Strive instead to live it: silently, undividedly, with your whole harmonious being. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
In harmony with the Tao, the sky is clear and spacious, the earth is solid and full, all creature flourish together, content with the way they are, endlessly repeating themselves, endlessly renewed. When man interferes with the Tao, the sky becomes filthy, the earth becomes depleted, the equilibrium crumbles, creatures become extinct. The Master views the parts with compassion, because he understands the whole. His constant practice is humility. He doesn't glitter like a jewel but lets himself be shaped by the Tao, as rugged and common as stone. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
You will ride the Tao
toward the concrescence
and will be able to live in the light
of its anticipation. ~ Terence McKenna
Tao quotes by Terence McKenna
Someone who seeks the Way doesn't look beyond himself. ~ Bodhidharma
Tao quotes by Bodhidharma
Earth is a divine organism
it cannot be successfully manipulated
Who attempts manipulation will encounter defeat ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
When a country is in harmony with the Tao, the factories make trucks and tractors. When a country goes counter to the Tao, warheads are stockpiled outside the cities. There is no greater illusion than fear, no greater wrong than preparing to defend yourself, no greater misfortune than having an enemy. Whoever can see through all fear will always be safe. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
(Those who) possessed in highest degree the attributes (of the Tao) did not (seek) to show them, and therefore they possessed them (in fullest measure). ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
The spectrum of possibilities is vast and our souls long to incorporate as many as they can... We are in a constant process of learning how to think, behave, or act understanding the manifestations of Tao, the manifestation of Qi within us. ~ Natasa Nuit Pantovic
Tao quotes by Natasa Nuit Pantovic
The Master keeps her mind always at one with the Tao; that is what gives her her radiance. The Tao is ungraspable. How can her mind be at one with it? Because she doesn't cling to ideas. The Tao is dark and unfathomable. How can it make her radiant? Because she lets it. Since before time and space were, the Tao is. It is beyond is and is not. How do I know this is true? I look inside myself and see. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
46 - The Obstacle of Bookish Bedevilment
Read the scriptures but do not persist in being obsessed with them. If one were to be obsessed with the scriptures forming conjectures with its meaning, relying on one's preconception, the mistake is great, discard the scriptures, without argument, while it is a big mistake, similarly obsession with the scriptures, not seeking a wise master, is an even bigger mistake, discarding books and obsession with them are all wrong. If one were to be obsessed with books for Tao, one has been inflicted with bookish bedevilment, in not seeking a wise master the great task is jeopardized, one must study carefully, distinguish the right and wrong, seek out a wise master to confirm them, only then can one come to understand Tao.
~ Liu Yiming
Tao quotes by Liu Yiming
To think, or not to think...This is the true question. ~ Bert McCoy
Tao quotes by Bert McCoy
My character in 'Batman v Superman' isn't supposed to be Japanese, but director Zack Snyder said he'd seen me in 'Wolverine' and had to get me in the film somehow. Hearing that was like music to my ears. ~ Tao Okamoto
Tao quotes by Tao Okamoto
When good thing are accomplished, it does not claim (or name) them. This is Te, which is close in meaning to power or virtue. It is something within a person, and it is enhanced by following the Tao, or 'that from which nothing can deviate'. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
It sometimes seemed to him that for love to work, it had to be fair, that he should tell only half the joke, and she the other half. Otherwise, it would not be love, but something completely else–pity or entertainment, or stand-up comedy. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
Currently where you are is on a huge globe with a relatively thin crust of stone, containing fire in its bowels, rotating on its own slightly tilted axis at 1,000 miles per hour in an easterly direction while simultaneously traveling in orbit around an enormous ball of burning hydrogen, 93,000,000 miles away at 66,000 miles per hour. That's 66,000 miles per hour, or nineteen miles per second, which is much faster that you've maybe ever imagined, and means that you will be traveling nearly 60,000,000 miles this coming year.
Beauty is, you don't have to imagine it, you can feel it instead. And if you want to know what it's like, simply stop. Be still, and in that stillness, whatever you are feeling in your belly: that's it. this is what it feels like to go 66,000 miles per hour while spinning at one thousand. ~ Stephen Russell
Tao quotes by Stephen Russell
Oh wondrous,' murmured Lin Chung. 'Oh, water, mistress of earth, valley spirit, eternal feminine!'
'Taoism again?' Phryne leaned close to hear what he was whispering.
'From the "Tao Te Ching." The old Master should have seen this. All made by water, the female, cold, moon principle.'
'Yin,' said Phryne. 'This is the womb of the earth.'
'Indeed.' He took her hand. 'Completely foreign to all male, hot, sun creatures.'
'Like you?'
'Like me. Yang can only admire and tremble.'
'Come along.' She led him into the centre of the huge space. 'We don't want to get lost in the earthmother's insides. ~ Kerry Greenwood
Tao quotes by Kerry Greenwood
A kind of emptiness existed in the center of my bagel; really
it was just the hole that's in the middle
of all bagels; 'i need to go read my blog
to find out what my politics are ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
Taoism is the profoundest nonconformism that has ever been evolved anywhere in the world, at any time in history; essentially it is rebellion. ~ Osho
Tao quotes by Osho
Do the Tao Now Copy the following words and apply them to yourself: I came from greatness. I must be like what I came from. I will never abandon my belief in my greatness and the greatness of others. Read these words daily, perhaps by posting them conspicuously where you can see them. They will serve to remind you of the truth of your own greatness. Meditate for ten minutes today, focusing on your inner greatness. ~ Wayne W. Dyer
Tao quotes by Wayne W. Dyer
Darkness, whether in mood or in night, is natural. So if we flow with the black bile of melancholia and endure the terrible darkness of depression, eventually we will break through into the light of joy. This is the Tao (the Way) of darkness or depression
this is the Mystery of its evolution. ~ Arnold Mindell
Tao quotes by Arnold Mindell
It comes out from no source, it goes back in through no aperture. It has reality yet no place where it resides; it has duration yet no beginning or end. Something emerges, though through no aperture - this refers to the fact that it has reality. It has reality yet there is no place where it resides - this refers to the dimension of space. It has duration but no beginning or end - this refers to the dimension of time. There is life, there is death, there is a coming out, there is a going back in - yet in the coming out and going back its form is never seen. This is called the Heavenly Gate. The Heavenly Gate is nonbeing. The ten thousand things come forth from nonbeing. Being cannot create being out of being; inevitably it must come forth from nonbeing. Nonbeing is absolute nonbeing, and it is here that the sage hides himself. ~ Zhuangzi
Tao quotes by Zhuangzi
Susie-Q, said Daniel with a smirk-like grin indicating both earnest disapproval and a kind of fondness toward Seroquel and its intense, often uncomfortable tranquilizing effects - as if, believing Susie-Q wasn't malicious, he could forgive her every time she induced twelve hours of sleep followed by twelve to twenty-four hours of feeling lost and irritable, therefore she functioned, if inadvertently, as a teacher of forgiveness and acceptance and empathy, for which he was grateful. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
The path of Tao is not that of sudden enlightenment. It is not like Zen. Zen is sudden enlightenment, Tao is gradual growth. ~ Osho
Tao quotes by Osho
Tao simply means the ultimate principle that binds the whole existence together. Existence is not a chaos; that much is certain. It is a cosmos. There is immense order in it, intrinsic order in it, and the name of that order is Tao. ~ Osho
Tao quotes by Osho
First, you must remain true to your values and priorities. Never violate your personal values or principles simply in order to get money. This may involve adopting such traits as always acting with honesty, integrity, and compassion in how you make your money; not doing harm to others; and being transparent in your goals and objectives. ~ Ilchi Lee
Tao quotes by Ilchi Lee
The ultimate Truth is beyond words. Doctrines are words. They're not the Way. ~ Bodhidharma
Tao quotes by Bodhidharma
If you can let go of (the Tao) with your mind and surround it with your heart, it will live inside you forever. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
If princes and kings could follow it (Tao), all things would by themselves abide, Heaven and Earth would unite and sweet dew would fall. People would by themselves find harmony, without being commanded. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
The highest good is like water, for the good of water is that it nourishes everything without striving. It occupies the place which all men think bad [i.e., the lowest level].17 [102d] It is thus that Tao in the world is like a river going down the valley to the ocean.18 [102e] The most gentle thing in the world overrides the most hard.19 [102g] How do coves and oceans become kings of a hundred rivers? Because they are good at keeping low - That is how they are kings of the hundred rivers.20 [102f] Nothing in the world is weaker than water, But it has no better in overcoming the hard.21 [101a] ~ Alan W. Watts
Tao quotes by Alan W. Watts
44. Abidement Bullshit money or basic freedoms: which is dearer? Contentment or competition: which is more valuable? Compensation or employment: which is more painful? Great coitus incurs great expense, And great wealth incurs fucking phoniness, But great abidement incurs no loss. Therefore: He who knows when to take it easy Can't be worried about that shit, And may long endure ups and downs, strikes and gutters. Tao Te Ching: 44. Contentment Fame or Self: which is dearer? Self or wealth: which is more valuable? Profit or loss: which is more painful? Great love incurs great expense, And great wealth incurs great theft, But great contentment incurs no loss. Therefore: He who knows when to stop Does not continue into danger, And may long endure. ~ The Church Of The Latter-Day Dude
Tao quotes by The Church Of The Latter-Day Dude
So sometimes things are ahead and sometimes they are behind; Sometimes breathing is hard, sometimes it comes easily; Sometimes there is strength and sometimes weakness; Sometimes one is up and sometimes down. Therefore the sage avoids extremes, excesses, and complacency. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
When I let go of who I am, I become who I might be. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
When I feel off, I read the 'Tao Te Ching' to get my equilibrium right. I started reading it in the eleventh grade. ~ Eddie Huang
Tao quotes by Eddie Huang
Bells Ring, Drums Resound

When a bell is struck it rings, when a drum is beaten it resounds. This is because they are solid outside and empty within. It is because they have nothing inside that they are able to ring and resound.

What I realize as I observe this is the Tao of true emptiness and ineffable existence.

True emptiness is like the inner openness of a bell or a drum; ineffable existence is like the sounding of a bell or a drum when struck. If people can keep this true emptiness as their essence, and utilize this ineffable existence as their function, ever serene yet ever responsive, ever responsive yet ever serene, tranquil and unstirring yet sensitive and effective, sensitive and effective yet tranquil and unstirring, empty yet not empty, not empty yet empty, aware and efficient, lively and active, refining everything in the great furnace of Creation, then when the dirt is gone the mirror is clear, when the clouds disperse the moon appears; revealing the indestructible body of reality, they transcend yin and yang and Creation, and merge with the eternity of space. ~ Liu Yiming
Tao quotes by Liu Yiming
I'm not good with blogs and social networks because those things come and go. By the time I am used to one thing, a new type of social media is already trending. ~ Tao Okamoto
Tao quotes by Tao Okamoto
I feel connected with people because of their sense of humor, worldview, and what they think and feel about certain existential issues (things not affected, in my view, by if someone rides a horse or drives a car or talks only IRL or only by typing), not how old they are, what they use to convey what they think and feel about certain existential issues, or if we have both watched the same TV shows or looked at the same websites. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
Wisest is he who knows what he does not know. ~ Plato
Tao quotes by Plato
Stand before it and there is no beginning. Follow it and there is no end. Stay with the ancient Tao, Move with the present. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
If you dance, you'll feel more joyful. Just thinking isn't going to make you feel better. Think about how joyful you'll feel as you dance. Don't repeat the foolishness of putting off dancing as you debate whether dance will really bring you joy. We feel joy as soon as we dance. Everything is like that. ~ Ilchi Lee
Tao quotes by Ilchi Lee
He who defines himself can't know who he really is.
He who has power over others can't empower himself. ~ Lao Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao Tzu
I am happiest when I clear my mind and allow the world around me to reteach me what I thought I already knew. ~ Vironika Tugaleva
Tao quotes by Vironika Tugaleva
Can you let go of words and ideas, attitudes and expectations? If so, then the Tao will loom into view. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
I like Bret Easton Ellis' sense of humor. I feel like mine is sometimes similar to his. And how his characters sometimes seem really confused in a humorous manner. I like that. And I have that sometimes in my characters. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
The flowing movements and relaxing music softens the sense and release the soul. This way my students not only enjoy moving their bodies with ease, but they also have the satisfaction of knowing that they can benefit from this Art for as long as they shall live (that I presume will be much longer than the expected if they continue on their routine of practicing my "BalletTao") At my primary school, a colleague was reading a text out loud when he kicked this word: Ballet, which is pronounced with a soundless T. He hesitated and then read: Ballet accentuating the T in the end. It sounded like: Ballet-Chi. Who would guess that one day I would accept this as the correct way to use this word?"
The Dao Workbook Illustrated ~ Ana Claudia Antunes
Tao quotes by Ana Claudia Antunes
When the court is arrayed in splendor, The fields are full of weeds, And the granaries are empty. Some wear gorgeous clothes, Carry sharp swords, And indulge in food and drink; They have more possessions than they can use. They are robber barons. This is certainly not the way of Tao. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
Be thou of Zen. Remember, in tranquillity, that the Absolute, the Tao, is within thee, that no priest or cult or dogma or book or saying or teaching or teacher stands between Thou and It. Know that Good and Evil are irrelevant, I and Thou irrelevant, Inside and Outside irrelevant as are Life and Death. Enter into the Sphere where there is no fear of death nor hope of afterlife, where thou art free of the impediments of life or the needs of salvation. Thou art thyself the Tao. Be thou, now, a rock against which the waves of life rush in vain. ~ James Clavell
Tao quotes by James Clavell
Sam looked at the sky to see if there were a lot of stars. There seemed to be a normal amount of stars. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
Though (the Tao) is uncreated itself, it creates all things. Because it has no substance, it can enter into where there is no space. Exercising by returning to itself, winning victories by remaining gentle and yielding, it is softer than anything, and therefore overcomes everything hard. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
Love melts the hardest hearts
Enters between the cracks ~ Rick Julian
Tao quotes by Rick Julian
They found security in letting go rather than in holding on and, in so doing, developed an attitude toward life that might be called psychophysical judo. Nearly twenty-five centuries ago, the Chinese sages Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu had called it wu-wei, which is perhaps best translated as "action without forcing." It is sailing in the stream of the Tao, or course of nature, and navigating the currents of li (organic pattern) - a word that originally signified the natural markings in jade or the grain in wood. As this attitude spread and prevailed in the wake of Vibration Training, people became more and more indulgent about eccentricity in life-style, tolerant of racial and religious differences, and adventurous in exploring unusual ways of loving. ~ Alan W. Watts
Tao quotes by Alan W. Watts
I have three treasures which I hold and keep. The first is mercy; the second is economy. The third is daring not to be ahead of others. From mercy comes courage; from economy comes generosity; From humility comes leadership. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
(The Tao) is always present and always available ... If you are willing to be lived by it, you will see it everywhere, even in the most ordinary things. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
The Gorilla Foundation, like a tree or cloud or other thing from nature, seems to mostly present itself only to an ideal, abstract, fully internalized audience - one that does not question sincerity or intent, that does not require justification or meaning, that would rather The Gorilla Foundation not pause (to defend itself, to allow others time to comprehend it) but to continue always with what it's already doing. In this manner The Gorilla Foundation exists more in actualization of itself than in opposition to something else, which implies, to some degree, that it doesn't earnestly believe it - or anything - "needs" to exist or is "right" or "wrong," rather that its "mission" is a temporary concept, created by itself to directionalize itself, that without which [The Gorilla Foundation] wouldn't exist. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
Acting without design, occupying oneself without making a business of it, finding the great in what is small and the many in the few, repaying injury with kindness, effecting difficult things while they are easy, and managing great things in their beginnings; this is the method of Tao. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
I can discern that certain things have an effect on certain other things, but I don't view those effects as good or bad. If a context and a goal is defined, I could say if it's good or bad. But overall, I don't view things as good or bad. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
I'm a disciple of the Tao of Peter Parker, obviously, ~ Jim Butcher
Tao quotes by Jim Butcher
Everything in the world finds peace - eventually. ~ Tao Okamoto
Tao quotes by Tao Okamoto
Hugh Jackman is just the nicest person in the world. I know everybody says that, and it's almost boring to hear, but he is really, really perfect. ~ Tao Okamoto
Tao quotes by Tao Okamoto
Attending fully and becoming supple, Can you be as a newborn babe? ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
It seems like for the last 10 years, I've just been investing in the future. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
That which one can deviate from is not the true Tao. ~ Ken Wilber
Tao quotes by Ken Wilber
Yielding is the way of the Tao. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
Tao is beyond words and beyond understanding. Words may be used to speak of it, but they cannot contain it. Tao existed before words and names, before heaven and earth, before the ten thousand things. It is the unlimited father and mother of all limited things. Therefore, to see beyond boundaries to the subtle heart of things, dispense with names, with concepts, with expectations and ambitions and differences. Tao and its many manifestations arise from the same source: subtle wonder within mysterious darkness. This is the beginning of all understanding. ~ Laozi
Tao quotes by Laozi
When men lost their understanding of the Tao, intelligence came along, bringing hypocrisy with it. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
To find the Tao, there is nowhere you need to search. If it is not inside you, it is not the Tao. ~ Confucius
Tao quotes by Confucius
Zen is the period of time during which a person has true clarity of vision. ~ Dr. Ernst Arnold
Tao quotes by Dr. Ernst Arnold
Those who know don't talk. Those who talk don't know. Close your mouth, block off your senses, blunt your sharpness, untie your knots, soften your glare, settle your dust. This is the primal identity. Be like the Tao. It can't be approached or withdrawn from, benefited or harmed, honored or brought into disgrace. It gives itself up continually. That is why it endures. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
The Tao is hidden, and has no name; but it is the Tao which is skilful at imparting (to all things what they need) and making them complete. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
Tao is so important because it is connected to all the life forms - it's related to the whole universe. Nobody can say, "Tao has nothing to do with me. Why should I try to understand it?" because actually, Tao has everything to do with us. ~ Henry Chang
Tao quotes by Henry Chang
When we can lay hold of the Tao of old to direct the things of the present day, and are able to know it as it was of old in the beginning, this is called (unwinding) the clue of Tao. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
Life has never died, which is something that I think people ignore. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
I always admired Hugh Jackman as an actor in movies but also in theatre because I'm a big fan of Broadway musicals. ~ Tao Okamoto
Tao quotes by Tao Okamoto
Rushing into action, you fail.
Trying to grasp things, you lose them.
Forcing a project to completion,
you ruin what was almost ripe.
Therefore the Master takes action
by letting things take their course.
He remains as calm at the end
as at the beginning.
He has nothing,
thus has nothing to lose.
What he desires is non-desire;
what he learns is to unlearn.
He simply reminds people
of who they have always been.
He cares about nothing but the Tao.
Thus he can care for all things. ~ Lao-Tzu
Tao quotes by Lao-Tzu
Everyone is folding boxes. Andrew is folding boxes. If the entire job were to fold boxes people would scream. They would fold, and sometimes scream, existentially, then be dragged into a field and beaten into a paste. Sometimes there would be a killing rampage. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
He wanted to hide by shrinking past zero, through the dot at the end of himself, to a negative size, into an otherworld, where he would find a place - in an enormous city, too large to know itself, or some slowly developing suburb - to be alone and carefully build a life in which he might be able to begin, at some point, to think about what to do about himself. ~ Tao Lin
Tao quotes by Tao Lin
At a purely formal level, one could call probability theory the study of measure spaces with total measure one, but that would be like calling number theory the study of strings of digits which terminate. ~ Terence Tao
Tao quotes by Terence Tao
