In teaching, regard must be had to the faculties possessed by the pupil. In childhood, memory; in youth, the understanding; in mature life, the reason is the predominating faculty. ~ Joseph P. Bradley
Bradley quotes by Joseph P. Bradley
If poisons were ponies, I'd put my money on cyanide. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
It's a fact of life that a girl can tell in a flash if another girl likes her ... Between girls there is a silent and unending flow of invisible signals, like the high-frequency wireless messages between the shore and the ships at sea, and this secret flow of dots and dashes was signaling that Mary detested me. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
Conversations were struck up between strangers, regular diners as well as infrequent customers, as if united by a sense of gratitude at the sheer unlikeliness of it all - a high achievement of industrial civilisation that deserved to remain for everyone, but which has now gone the way of the airship and the ocean liner. Much of the nostalgia concerning railways is partial, even false; not this.
[On British railway dining cars] ~ Simon Bradley
Bradley quotes by Simon Bradley
Complex regulation in place of simple-rules capitalism disrupts market processes and corrupts business incentives. ~ Robert L. Bradley, Jr.
Bradley quotes by Robert L. Bradley, Jr.
Dependability, integrity, the characteristic of never knowingly doing anything wrong, that you would never cheat anyone, that you would give everybody a fair deal. Character is a sort of an all-inclusive thing. If a man has character, everyone has confidence in him. ~ Omar Nelson Bradley
Bradley quotes by Omar Nelson Bradley
Change is unwelcome in prisons and hospitals. It is only their sameness which makes them tolerable to those kept captive within their walls. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
It gets lighter." I awnsered with the truth and regretted the glib taste on my tounge. "I mean, it never goes away. The feelings. They never stop, but it gets...I don't know...livable, I guess. Like when you break your leg, at first it's excruciating and you think your going to die. But eventually after you've had time to heal, it kind of fades into this constant, dull ache." A faint breeze whistled through the leaves of the trees and plants surrounding us and tickled the back of my neck like cold fingers. "You never walk the same again, but eventually you do walk. ~ Lisa Roecker
Bradley quotes by Lisa Roecker
Unfortunately, when someone asks me for a favor, I can't say no. Because of my upbringing - my Catholic guilt - if I don't do it, it plagues me. ~ Bradley Cooper
Bradley quotes by Bradley Cooper
Mr. Sambridge possessed a remarkably good mouthful of natural teeth for someone his age, whether ritually maintained or expensively corrected I could not tell.

As someone who has spent hours of agony strapped down in Dr. Frankenstein's chamber of dental horrors in Farrington Street, I could only respect - and hate - anyone who still possessed such a spotless set of choppers. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
It is hardly lonely in a nunnery, son, with other women. And God is there."
Morgause said, "I would rather dwell in a hermitage in the forest than in a house full of chattering ladies! If God is there, it must be hard for him to get a word in edgewise! ~ Marion Zimmer Bradley
Bradley quotes by Marion Zimmer Bradley
...it was an old saying: three could keep a secret if but two of them lay in their graves... ~ Marion Zimmer Bradley
Bradley quotes by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Yaroo!" I shouted, and I didn't give a beetle's bottom who heard me. "Ya-rooo! ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
The first step in gaining the upper hand is always to seize the moral high ground, and to be able to do this with no more than a single word is nothing short of genius. I ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
People weep at music all the time, because music gives form to some abstract level of integration. ~ Joe Bradley
Bradley quotes by Joe Bradley
Then he is up and off the couch in one fluid motion - remarkable considering no one gets up off our couch gracefully. ~ Laura Bradley Rede
Bradley quotes by Laura Bradley Rede
Living on the verge is not about doing more, but about being more. It isn't about achieving more; it's about experiencing more. It's not about being someone different, as there 's no "better version of you" on the horizon. Everything you're searching for is available to you in this moment. Everything you need is right here on the verge. ~ Cara Bradley
Bradley quotes by Cara Bradley
But I am delighted to be a Dodger, I grew up a Dodger fan and now my dreams have really come true. ~ Milton Bradley
Bradley quotes by Milton Bradley
I could have gone either north or south but decided to strike off north because it was my favorite direction. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
The world was a playground for the foolish and an exalted wonder of love and magic for the wise. ~ Don Bradley
Bradley quotes by Don Bradley
Nowhere in the world can you find a wider variety of empty calories than at any American convenience store. ~ Bradley Denton
Bradley quotes by Bradley Denton
What are we going to do, Dogger?'
It seemed a reasonable question. After all he had been through, surely Dogger knew something of hopeless situations.
'We shall wait upon tomorrow,' he said.
'But
what if tomorrow is worse than today?'
'Then we shall wait upon the day after tomorrow.'
'And so forth?' I asked.
'And so forth,' Dogger said. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
That's just how time travel looks like to the untrained eye. The reason why there aren't more travelers is that your average physicist refuses to be eaten by a giraffe in the name of science. ~ Bradley Sands
Bradley quotes by Bradley Sands
I think he's Will 's partying a lot in Cabo. I think he's running a brothel. I don't know what he's doing. ~ Bradley Cooper
Bradley quotes by Bradley Cooper
I remembered that Johnson had declared portrait painting to be an improper employment for a woman. "Public practice of any art and staring in men's faces is very indelicate in a female," he had said.
Well I'd seen Dr. Johnson's face in the book's frontispiece and I couldn't imagine anyone male or female wanting to stare into it for any length of time - the man was an absolute toad. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
I know all about endings. It is beginnings that elude me. ~ Marion Zimmer Bradley
Bradley quotes by Marion Zimmer Bradley
We are given two of most of our body parts, either opposites or similarities, but not the tongue; except for my wife's which is forked. ~ Kyle Bradley
Bradley quotes by Kyle Bradley
Al Gore clearly has the vision ... it's a much better vision than that of George W. Bush. ~ Bill Bradley
Bradley quotes by Bill Bradley
But you know, I always said that no one else on my block was on the radio, and it was fun. ~ Ed Bradley
Bradley quotes by Ed Bradley
One of the things I love about myself is my ability to remain open to suggestion. ~ Alan Bradley

Bradley quotes by Ian Bradley
As anybody with two older sisters can tell you, a closed door is like a red rag to a bull. It cannot go unchallenged. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
I've always been amazed by the ease with which a stranger's life can be reconstructed by simply snooping through their belongings. Art and imagination combine to tell a tale that's more complete than even a fat printed biography could ever hope to equal. And Mr. Denning was no exception: His secrets were laid so bare that I felt I ought to be apologizing. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
Anything has a rhythm to it, comedy or drama. There has to be a musicality to it. And everybody can't play the same instrument, ideally. But I think that we all have the same comedic tendencies, and that's why it works. We all sort of agree with what's funny. ~ Bradley Cooper
Bradley quotes by Bradley Cooper
If you look at anything, there are always comedic moments. ~ Bradley Cooper
Bradley quotes by Bradley Cooper
It's not about whether her heart beats, it's just about whether it loves. ~ Laura Bradley Rede
Bradley quotes by Laura Bradley Rede

Bradley quotes by Bradley Byrne
If, she thought, you can call a man your lover when you have never exchanged a single kiss. ~ Marion Zimmer Bradley
Bradley quotes by Marion Zimmer Bradley
A belief in the purposeful complexity of Fate is always more comforting than random, straightforward facts. This may be why Mother preferred to believe in Atlantis and UFOs rather than in virtually everything else. ~ Bradley Denton
Bradley quotes by Bradley Denton
Only one military organization can hold and gain ground in war-a ground army supported by tactical aviation with supply lines guarded by the navy. ~ Omar N. Bradley
Bradley quotes by Omar N. Bradley
A pillar of strength, Daffy had once remarked, was a nice way of saying someone was terminally bossy, ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
I will begin with the self-styled "Christian" party, who profess to base their morality on the New Testament. But whether it is really more Christian to follow or to ignore the teachings of the Gospels I shall not discuss. ~ F.H. Bradley
Bradley quotes by F.H. Bradley
I will not go into a story unprepared. I will do my homework, and that's something I learned at an early age. ~ Ed Bradley
Bradley quotes by Ed Bradley

Bradley quotes by Bradley Cooper
As an actor, when you go for auditions, there are certain roles that come along and you think, 'I really want that one,' and Prince Arthur was definitely one of those. ~ Bradley James
Bradley quotes by Bradley James
Why do we go on and on about individuality being the very essence of who we are, and then accept a degrading level of conformity in virtually every facet of our lives? ~ Bradley Trevor Greive
Bradley quotes by Bradley Trevor Greive
The soul, Daffy says, is not necessarily where the heart is. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
Ordinarily, anyone who made such a remark to my face would go to the top of my short list for strychnine. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
I want to see Bob Dylan do sketch comedy. I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan. ~ Bradley Whitford
Bradley quotes by Bradley Whitford
If there be any Gods at all, of which I am not even certain, I cannot believe they would stoop to meddle in the affairs of men. Nor will I wait upon the Gods to do what I see clearly must be done - who's to say that the Goddess cannot work through my hand as well as another. ~ Marion Zimmer Bradley
Bradley quotes by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Americans may not always live up to the Bill of Rights, but Americans do not ban books. ~ Bradley A. Smith
Bradley quotes by Bradley A. Smith
Put a pair of high heels on a fellow and just look what he was reduced to. ~ Celeste Bradley
Bradley quotes by Celeste Bradley
That's him!" he said. "That's the one!"
"Is it, indeed?" Inspector Hewitt asked, as he lifted the cap from my head and took the gown from my shoulders with the gentle deference of a valet.
The little man's pale blue eyes bulged visibly in their sockets.
"Why, it's only a girl!" he said.
I could have slapped his face. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
I'd watch my father get up at 5 o'clock and go down to the Eastern Market in Detroit to do the shopping for his restaurant, and get that business going and then go out on his vending machine business. ~ Ed Bradley
Bradley quotes by Ed Bradley
I wish you always the joyous summer you deserve and blame you not for fleeing the stark winter you saw in me.
-Stanton Horne, Lord Wyndham (in his letter to Lady Alicia) ~ Celeste Bradley
Bradley quotes by Celeste Bradley
Hmmm," he said. "Quite a novel idea, I must say. But hardly conducive to a bestselling, tell-all, no-holds-barred biography. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
The Paris peace talks kept a roof over my head and food on the table and clothes on my back because if something was said going in or coming out, I had the rent for the month. ~ Ed Bradley
Bradley quotes by Ed Bradley
Martha would come over every week and check on Mia and work with her on relaxation and breathing exercises to prepare for the natural labor. Jenny was on board with the natural thing too, so of course she and Mia dragged Tyler and me to the Bradley Birthing Method classes.

It was hysterical; we had to get in all kinds of weird poses with the girls while they mimicked being in labor. We would massage their backs while they were perched on all fours, moaning. One of the hardest things I've ever done is contain my laughter during those classes. Mia was the freakin' teacher's pet because she was taking it so seriously.

Right around the third class, they showed us a video of a live birth. I had nightmares for a week after that. Tyler and I agreed that we had to find a way to get out of going to the classes.

We hadn't mutually agreed on a plan, so during the fifth class, Tyler took it upon himself and used his own bodily gifts to get us into a heap of trouble. Tyler is lactose intolerant, and he has to take these little white tablets every time he eats cheese. The morning of the class, he stopped by the studio with a half-eaten pizza. I didn't even think twice about it until that night in class during our visualization exercises when this god-awful, horrendous odor overtook our senses.

At first everyone kept quiet and just looked around for the source. There wasn't a sound to accompany the lethal attack, so everyone went into investigatio ~ Renee Carlino
Bradley quotes by Renee Carlino
The reality is that asking the public to fund political campaigns accomplishes nothing. Candidates continue to seek interest-group support through other channels, both financial and in-kind, and corruption problems abound. ~ Bradley A. Smith
Bradley quotes by Bradley A. Smith
Having an affair with an intern is just an incredibly stupid thing to do. ~ Bradley Whitford
Bradley quotes by Bradley Whitford
it occurred to me that Heaven must be a place where the library is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
Avalon will always be there for all men to find if they can seek the way thither, throughout all the ages past the ages. If they cannot find the way to Avalon, it is a sign, perhaps, that they are not ready. - Kevin ~ Marion Zimmer Bradley
Bradley quotes by Marion Zimmer Bradley
By and large, the kind of science fiction which makes tomorrow's headlines as near as this morning's coffee has enlarged popular awareness of the modern, miraculous world of science we live in. It has helped generations of young people feel at age with a changing world.
But fashions change, old loves return, and now that Sputniks clutter up the sky with new and unfamiliar moons, the readers of science fiction are willing to wait to read tomorrow's headlines. Once again, I think, there is a place, a wish, a need for the wonder and color of the world way out. The world beyond the stars. The world we won't live to see. That is why I wrote The Door Through Space. ~ Marion Zimmer Bradley
Bradley quotes by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Beware what you speak,' said the Merlin very softly, 'for indeed the words we speak make shadows of what is to come, and by speaking them we bring them to pass, my king. ~ Marion Zimmer Bradley
Bradley quotes by Marion Zimmer Bradley
ethanol may actually make some kinds of air pollution worse. It evaporates faster than pure gasoline, contributing to ozone problems in hot temperatures. A 2006 study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences concluded that ethanol does reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 12 percent relative to gasoline, but it calculated that devoting the entire U.S. corn crop to make ethanol would replace only a small fraction of American gasoline consumption. Corn farming also contributes to environmental degradation due to runoff from fertilizer and pesticides.
But to dwell on the science is to miss the point. As the New York Times noted in the throes of the 2000 presidential race, ―Regardless of whether ethanol is a great fuel for cars, it certainly works wonders in Iowa campaigns. The ethanol tax subsidy increases the demand for corn, which puts money in farmers' pockets. Just before the Iowa caucuses, corn farmer Marvin Flier told the Times, ―Sometimes I think [the candidates] just come out and pander to us, he said. Then he added, ―Of course, that may not be the worst thing. The National Corn Growers Association figures that the ethanol program increases the demand for corn, which adds 30 cents to the price of every bushel sold.
Bill Bradley opposed the ethanol subsidy during his three terms as a senator from New Jersey (not a big corn-growing state). Indeed, some of his most important accomplishments as a senator involved purging the tax code of subsid ~ Charles Wheelan
Bradley quotes by Charles Wheelan
Liberals have always been the most fervent Imperialists. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
Any barrier, I had learned
even a potential one
was best breached by pretending urgency. ~ Alan Bradley

Bradley quotes by Bradley Denton
I was learning that the best conversations consisted of keeping quiet and listening, and speaking, when one spoke at all, in words of a single syllable. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
If you're into the brand and the heritage of the brand, you can always remember where you got your first Fred Perry Shirt, and for me I was nine years old ~ Bradley Wiggins
Bradley quotes by Bradley Wiggins
We say that a girl with her doll anticipates the mother. It is more true, perhaps, that most mothers are still but children with playthings. ~ F.H. Bradley
Bradley quotes by F.H. Bradley
The woman was putting her purse in the drawer and settling down behind the desk, and I realized I had never seen her before in my life. Her face was as wrinkled as one of those forgotten apples you sometimes find in the pocket of last year's winter jacket.
Yes? she said, peering over her spectacles. They teach them to do that at the Royal Academy of Library Science. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
Being a safe place is a metaphor for transformation. It is designed to help us be intentional in seeking to be transformed so that we think, speak, and act more like Jesus, nothing more, nothing less, and nothing else. ~ Michael Bradley
Bradley quotes by Michael Bradley
Cal Ripken is steady, he focuses on his job, and he's a good guy. ~ Bradley Whitford
Bradley quotes by Bradley Whitford
And even if it felt like Mam hated me, she had to love me, didn't she? She had to love me, because she was my mam, and Susan was just somebody who got stuck taking care of Jamie and me because of the war. ~ Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
Bradley quotes by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
I always knew that I wanted to work on my own material - something that would be more long-lasting than short-lived electronic transmissions. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
There wasn't a schoolboy on the planet - or a man, for that matter - who would dare disturb a female locked into a WC. I knew that for a fact. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
I threw my hands up into the air and launched myself into a series of exuberant triple cartwheels. "Yaroo!" I shouted. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
I visualized myself pulling on my mental thinking cap, jamming it down around my ears as I had taught myself to do. It was a tall, conical wizard's model, covered with chemical equations and formulae: a cornucopia of ideas. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
If you can't be as best as you dreamed of,
Least be a good man in reality. ~ Bradley B. Dalina
Bradley quotes by Bradley B. Dalina
The force of the blow depends on the resistance. It is sometimes better not to struggle against temptation. Either fly or yield at once. ~ F.H. Bradley
Bradley quotes by F.H. Bradley
You know, I think I still have a sense that no matter what you do, no matter what you achieve, no matter how much success you have, no matter how much money you have, relationships are important. ~ Ed Bradley
Bradley quotes by Ed Bradley
Eleven-year-olds are supposed to be unreliable. We're past the age of being poppets: the age where people bend over and poke us in the tum with their fingers and make idiotic noises that sound like "boof-boof" - just the thought of which is enough to make me bring up my Bovril. And yet we're still not at the age where anyone ever mistakes us for a grown-up. The fact is, we're invisible - except when we choose not to be. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
We were most amused by destroying what we'd taken. ~ Darin Bradley
Bradley quotes by Darin Bradley
I knew that hunched shoulders, hanging hair, and eyes on the ground were fairly reliable signs of a girl dejected, a girl who needed to be approached and jollied into a nice talk or a nice cup of tea; whereas a back-flung head, with eyes closed and a secret smile on the upturned face, was the signal of someone who needed to be left alone with her thoughts. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
Cicely glances over at him. She looks a good kind of nervous when she should look a bad kind of scared. ~ Laura Bradley Rede
Bradley quotes by Laura Bradley Rede
Simple pleasures are best. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
There has never been a great athlete who died not knowing what pain is. ~ Bill Bradley
Bradley quotes by Bill Bradley
It's such an advantage to be able to hit short irons low on command. When it's windy, you'll hit more greens. But low shots are a great strategy in calm conditions, too: The less time the ball hangs in the air, the less time it has to stray off line from the flagstick. ~ Keegan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Keegan Bradley
I know the story by heart. The book is just a "do not disturb" sign, to make sure no one talks to me. ~ Laura Bradley Rede
Bradley quotes by Laura Bradley Rede
Giving someone the benefit of the doubt is not so simple as it sounds. What it means, in fact, is being charitable--which, as the vicar is fond of pointing out, is the most difficult of the graces to master. Faith and hope are a piece of cake but charity is a Pandora's box: the monster in the cistern which, when the lid is opened, comes swarming out to seize you by the throat. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
Out of ten listener, only one can recite accurately what he/she heard exactly from the speaker, others will tell you less, more, crooked and lies. ~ Bradley B. Dalina
Bradley quotes by Bradley B. Dalina
Perhaps, I thought, whenever we began to breathe the breath of others, when the spinning atoms of their bodies began to mingle withour own, we took on something of their personality, like crystals in a snowflake. Perhaps we became something more, yet something lesser than ourselves. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
Humility is a most excellent barometer," he said, "and ought to be looked for in all those we are made to look up to. ~ Alan Bradley
Bradley quotes by Alan Bradley
I don't know what to say," she said, after a pause. "I don't want to tell you a lie, and I don't know the truth."
It was maybe the most honest thing anyone had ever said to me. ~ Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
