In my ideal world, it would be a soulful connection to the role because you've shared a lot of the same experiences as the character and you just feel so right in it. That's the first thing I look for. ~ Giles Matthey
Ideal World quotes by Giles Matthey
What is your vision of ideal world? ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Ideal World quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Hope is the virgin of the ideal world, who opens beaten to as in the midst of every tempest. ~ Arsene Houssaye
Ideal World quotes by Arsene Houssaye
He had no ideal world of dead heroes; he knew little of the life of men in the past; he must find the beings to whom he could cling with loving admiration among those who came within speech of him. ~ George Eliot
Ideal World quotes by George Eliot
Our uniqueness alone is enough to justify our special place in the world. But even more, our destiny insists we use our gifts to show others who they really are or show them what, in an ideal world, they could become. It may shock them at first, but deep down, we open their eyes to greater possibilities. ~ Ellen Bryson
Ideal World quotes by Ellen Bryson
My ideal world is, we're there, we're in the EU, trying to make it better. ~ Boris Johnson
Ideal World quotes by Boris Johnson
Charles Dickens left us fifteen novels, and in an ideal world, everyone would read all of them. ~ Robert Gottlieb
Ideal World quotes by Robert Gottlieb
When Philosophy with its abstractions paints grey in grey, the freshness and life of youth has gone, the reconciliation is not a reconciliation in the actual, but in the ideal world. ~ Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
Ideal World quotes by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
In an ideal world, the intelligent investor would hold stocks only when they are cheap and sell them when they become overpriced, then duck into the bunker of bonds and cash until stocks again become cheap enough to buy. ~ Benjamin Graham
Ideal World quotes by Benjamin Graham
In an ideal world, I'd bounce between big projects and no-budget TV dramas with fantastic scripts. ~ David Yates
Ideal World quotes by David Yates
[Alternate translation:] The Divine Spirit found a sublime outlet in that wonder of analysis, that portent of the ideal world, that amphibian between being and not-being, which we call the imaginary root of negative unity. ~ Gottfried Leibniz
Ideal World quotes by Gottfried Leibniz
When it shall be desired to enlighten man, let him always have truth laid before him. Instead of kindling his imagination by the idea of those pretended goods that a future state has in reserve for him, let him be solaced, let him be succoured; or, at least, let him be permitted to enjoy the fruit of his labour; let not his substance be ravaged from him by cruel imposts; let him not be discouraged from work, by finding all his labour inadequate to support his existence, let him not be driven into that idleness that will surely lead him on to crime: let him consider his present existence, without carrying his views to that which may attend him after his death: let his industry be excited; let his talents be rewarded; let him be rendered active, laborious, beneficent, and virtuous, in the world he inhabits; let it be shown to him that his actions are capable of having an influence over his fellow men, but not on those imaginary beings located in an ideal world. ~ Paul Henri Thiry D'Holbach
Ideal World quotes by Paul Henri Thiry D'Holbach
In an ideal world, you could reunite the Pakistan-occupied part of Kashmir with the Indian-occupied part and restore the old borders. You could have both India and Pakistan agreeing to guarantee those borders, demilitarise the area, and to invest in it economically. In a sane world that would happen, but we don't live in a sane world. ~ Salman Rushdie
Ideal World quotes by Salman Rushdie
Primitive man's life in Hobbes' famous words, was short, brutish, and nasty; and this very savagery and anxiety became the justification for an absolute order established, like Descartes' ideal world, by a single providential mind and will: that of the absolute ruler or monarch. Until men were incorporated into Leviathan, that is, the all-powerful state through which the king's will was carried out, they were dangerous to their fellows and a burden to themselves. ~ Lewis Mumford
Ideal World quotes by Lewis Mumford
In an ideal world everyone would ask "Who am I?" every day, and since "I" is constantly shifting, each new day would bring a new answer. ~ Deepak Chopra
Ideal World quotes by Deepak Chopra
So many people are working in industries that don't inspire them, to pay the bills and survive. In an ideal world, everyone would get paid to work within their passion and expand in their talents. If you have a skill, a passion, and a love for creating change, the best way to support us is to co-create with us. ~ Ian Somerhalder
Ideal World quotes by Ian Somerhalder
In How Fiction Works, James Wood says,

A great deal of nonsense is written every day about characters in fiction - from the side of those who believe too much in character and from the side of those who believe too little. Those who believe too much have an iron set of prejudices about what characters are: we should get to "know" them; . . . they should "grow" and "develop"; and they should be nice. So they should be pretty much like us.
Wood is correct, in part, but the ongoing question of character likability leaves the impression that what we're looking for in fiction is an ideal world where people behave in ideal ways. The question suggests that characters should be reflections not of us, but of our better selves.
Wood also says, "There is nothing harder than the creation of fictional character." I can attest to this difficulty, though with perhaps less hyperbole. I have, indeed, found several other tasks harder over the years. Regardless, characters are hard to create because we need to develop people who are interesting enough to hold a reader's attention. We need to ensure that they are some measure of credible. We need to make them distinct from ourselves (and, in the best of all words, from those in our lives, unless of course there is a need to settle scores). Somehow they need to be well developed enough to carry a plot, or carry a narrative without a plot, or endure the tribulations we writers tend to throw at them with alacrity. It's no wonde ~ Roxane Gay
Ideal World quotes by Roxane Gay
In an ideal world, the time English speakers devote to steeling themselves against, and complaining about, things like Billy and me, singular they, and impact as a verb would be better spent attending to genuine matters of graceful oral and written expression. ~ John McWhorter
Ideal World quotes by John McWhorter
In an ideal world, I'd love to work on something that is on par with 'Lost' or better than 'Lost.' ~ Henry Ian Cusick
Ideal World quotes by Henry Ian Cusick
My ideal world was the early days of Twitter, where everyone was curious about each other and everyone saw it as kind of a window into people's lives where we could be compassionate and curious and empathetic and we could tell each other secrets. ~ Jon Ronson
Ideal World quotes by Jon Ronson
In my ideal world there would be 99% unemployment for actors, and I would be the 1% that's employed. I hear about somebody getting a job at Starbucks and I get jealous. ~ Hamish Linklater
Ideal World quotes by Hamish Linklater
In an ideal world, the voices that teach us language teach us self-respect, self-confidence, and self-esteem. Those same voices also form in us humility and gratitude, and as those voices inform our inner voices, they also pass on wisdom. ~ Erwin Raphael McManus
Ideal World quotes by Erwin Raphael McManus
She believed that, in an ideal world, the working class would rule the country, but she had no particular desire to ask any of them to tea. ~ John Mortimer
Ideal World quotes by John Mortimer
For pain is perhaps but a violent pleasure? Who could determine the point where pleasure becomes pain, where pain is still a pleasure? Is not the utmost brightness of the ideal world soothing to us, while the lightest shadows of the physical world annoy? ~ Honore De Balzac
Ideal World quotes by Honore De Balzac
In an ideal world the scientist should find a method to prevent the most severe forms of autism but allow the milder forms to survive. After all, the really social people did not invent the first stone spear. It was probably invented by an Aspie who chipped away at rocks while the other people socialized around the campfire. Without autism traits we might still be living in caves. ~ Temple Grandin
Ideal World quotes by Temple Grandin
…But what it comes down to for me is that it's not an ideal world. There are people out there who torture, burn, maim, bomb and enslave others. Mostly because of religion and territory, and they're not going to be dissuaded from their path. Kids should be able to chase butterflies and feed ducks and go to school without fearing a bomb or a bullet. Or worse. And I guess that's why I do what I do… ~ Bronwyn Parry
Ideal World quotes by Bronwyn Parry
I unconsciously decided that, even if it wasn't an ideal world, it should be so and painted only the ideal aspects of it - pictures in which there are no drunken slatterns or self-centered mothers ... only foxy grandpas who played baseball with kids and boys who fished from logs and got up circuses in the back yard. ~ Norman Rockwell
Ideal World quotes by Norman Rockwell
An ideal world: money falls from the sky and into my lap for each word that I write. A one-dollar flat rate. A twenty for a real zinger. ~ Weike Wang
Ideal World quotes by Weike Wang
We do not have the ideal world, such as we would like, where morality is easy because cognition is easy. Where one can do right with no effort because he can detect the obvious. ~ Philip K. Dick
Ideal World quotes by Philip K. Dick
There's no benchmark for how life's "supposed" to happen. There is no ideal world for you to wait around for. The world is always just what it is now, it's up to you how you respond to it. ~ Isaac Marion
Ideal World quotes by Isaac Marion
If you believe in what you do and you really want to be in music, just stick at it. It's always a learning process. Enjoy it because I think making music is a privilege, really. In an ideal world, it should also always be fun. As much as possible, make it fun. ~ Kate Bush
Ideal World quotes by Kate Bush
No wonder Mr. Tagomi could not go on, he thought. The terrible dilemma of our lives. Whatever happens, it is evil beyond compare. Why struggle, then? Why choose? If all alternatives are the same . . . Evidently we go on, as we always have. From day to day. At this moment we work against Operation Dandelion. Later on, at another moment, we work to defeat the police. But we cannot do it all at once; it is a sequence. An unfolding process. We can only control the end by making a choice at each step. He thought, We can only hope. And try. On some other world, possibly it is different. Better. There are clear good and evil alternatives. Not these obscure admixtures, these blends, with no proper tool by which to untangle the components. We do not have the ideal world, such as we would like, where morality is easy because cognition is easy. Where one can do right with no effort because he can detect the obvious. The ~ Philip K. Dick
Ideal World quotes by Philip K. Dick
In an ideal world, you might imagine that scientific papers were only cited by academics on the basis of their content. This might be true. But lots of other stuff can have an influence. ~ Ben Goldacre
Ideal World quotes by Ben Goldacre
The right algorithm is to put off seeking funds for as long as physically possible. And in an ideal world, a startup would never have to seek funds at all. ~ Guy Kawasaki
Ideal World quotes by Guy Kawasaki
In my ideal world, no child would suffer. Charitable instincts would prevail. There would be global acceptance of all different types of people. ~ Clay Aiken
Ideal World quotes by Clay Aiken
Creativity is a space for solitary longing, the desire to be elsewhere in space and time, to be in a new ideal world where life is as it should be. ~ Chenjerai Hove
Ideal World quotes by Chenjerai Hove
God loves human beings. God loves the world. Not an ideal human, but human beings as they are; not an ideal world, but the real world. What we find repulsive in their opposition to God, what we shrink back from with pain and hostility, namely, real human beings, the real world, this is for God the ground of unfathomable love. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Ideal World quotes by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
In an ideal world, I'd be able to do my shows in my pajamas. Luckily I've got one of the best stylists in the business, Rebecca Allen - she knows what looks good on camera and gives it a sexy kick. ~ Anne Robinson
Ideal World quotes by Anne Robinson
There is no ideal world for you to wait around for. The world is always just what it is now, and it's up to you how you respond to it. ~ Isaac Marion
Ideal World quotes by Isaac Marion
I believe that life is a very individual path, and that we have to live it according to our own destiny and through our own eyes. Half the journey is groping around in the dark. Every lesson you learn, it's vital that you teach yourself as much as possible. Someone very wise once said that, in an ideal world, there would only be guides on the side, not sages on the stage. We would, in my opinion, need a time of not-knowing, a time of confusion that leads to wisdom, before we're really ready to be "retrieved". ~ Jennifer DeLucy
Ideal World quotes by Jennifer DeLucy
In an ideal world, both parties would desire to uphold the Constitution, ~ Ben Carson
Ideal World quotes by Ben Carson
In an ideal world, a young man should not be an ironical person. At that age, irony prevents growth, stunts the imagination. It is best to start life in a cheerful and open state of mind, believing in others, being optimistic, being frank with everyone about everything. And then, as one comes to understand things and people better, to develop a sense of irony. The natural progression of human life is from optimism to pessimism; and a sense of irony helps temper pessimism, helps produce balance, harmony. But ~ Julian Barnes
Ideal World quotes by Julian Barnes
Anne's horizons had closed in since the night she had sat there after coming home from Queen's; but if the path set before her feet was to be narrow she knew that flowers of quiet happiness would bloom along it. The joys of sincere work and worthy aspiration and congenial friendship were to be hers; nothing could rob her of her birthright of fancy or her ideal world of dreams. And there was always the bend in the road! ~ L.M. Montgomery
Ideal World quotes by L.M. Montgomery
After reading about ten of those self-help books, I saw that they were leading nowhere. They have an immediate effect, but that effect stops as soon as I close the book. They're just words, describing an ideal world that doesn't exist, not even for the people who wrote them. ~ Paulo Coelho
Ideal World quotes by Paulo Coelho
But they weren't in an ideal world. And it was too bad, Kit thought, exiting the shop. Bridget might have talked to her if they were. Kit might have been able to trust her. And neither of them would have to fear a man with a whole different sort of thrust-corrupted, soured, rotting ... and seemingly unstoppable. ~ Vicki Pettersson
Ideal World quotes by Vicki Pettersson
I believe that, in an ideal world, writers would feel free to write what matters to them without having to consider success, failure, the market, etc. ~ Claire Messud
Ideal World quotes by Claire Messud
The writer crafts their ideal world. In my world, everyone has really long conversations or just picks apart pop culture to death and everyone talks in monologue. ~ Kevin Smith
Ideal World quotes by Kevin Smith
The second paragraph of the Declaration that is very much an expression of Jefferson's imagination. It envisions a perfect world, at last bereft of kings, priests, and even government itself. In this never-never land, free individuals interact harmoniously, all forms of political coercion are unnecessary because they have been voluntarily internalized, people pursue their own different versions of happiness without colliding, and some semblance of social equality reigns supreme. As Lincoln recognized, it is an ideal world that can never be reached on this earth, only approached. And each generation had an obligation to move America an increment closer to the full promise, as Lincoln most famously did. The American Dream, then, is the Jeffersonian Dream writ large, embedded in language composed during one of the most crowded and congested moments in American history by an idealistic young man who desperately wished to be somewhere else. ~ Joseph J. Ellis
Ideal World quotes by Joseph J. Ellis
In an ideal world, an individual's institutional power would be correlated perfectly with his or her value-add. In practice, this is seldom the case. ~ Gary Hamel
Ideal World quotes by Gary Hamel
I think that people have expectations of themselves and other people that are based on these fictions that are presented to them as the way human life and relationships could be, in some sort of weird, ideal world, but they never are. So you're constantly being shown this garbage and you can't get there. ~ Charlie Kaufman
Ideal World quotes by Charlie Kaufman
I love religion. I could make up religions all day. I sort of think that in an ideal world I'd like to be a religion designer. I'd like people come up to me and say, I need a religion. I'd go talk to them for a while, and I'd design a religion for them. That would be a great job. There's a need for people like that. Fortunately, seeing that one can't actually do it, I get paid for sort of making them up anyway. ~ Neil Gaiman
Ideal World quotes by Neil Gaiman
In an ideal world, it would not take a film star to get the media focused on mental illness. ~ Alastair Campbell
Ideal World quotes by Alastair Campbell
I think it's important to promote a culture of life. I think a hospitable society is a society where every being counts and every person matters. I believe the ideal world is one in which every child is protected in law and welcomed to life. I understand there's great differences on this issue of abortion. But I believe reasonable people can come together and put good law in place that will help reduce the number of abortions. ~ George W. Bush
Ideal World quotes by George W. Bush
A film is its own thing and in an ideal world I think a film should be discovered knowing nothing and nothing should be added to it and nothing should be subtracted from it. ~ David Lynch
Ideal World quotes by David Lynch
If you have an ideal world, your actions should follow suit. And that will sort of hopefully spread. ~ Tyler Blackburn
Ideal World quotes by Tyler Blackburn
This however, wasn't an ideal world, and no matter how hard I tried to think of an answer, I had nothing. ~ Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Ideal World quotes by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Maybe it's not really lying if you barely know you're doing it. It should be true. It's the way it should be, in an ideal world. ~ Harriet Lane
Ideal World quotes by Harriet Lane
In an ideal world, you'd never have to do things that are below your position, but this isn't an ideal world, and it's never going to be. ~ Sophia Amoruso
Ideal World quotes by Sophia Amoruso
People aren't always what you want them to be. Sometimes they disappoint you or let you down, but you have to give them a chance first. You can't just meet someone and expect them to be everything you're looking for and then be angry when they're not every hope and aspiration you projected onto them. It's foolish to believe that someone will be what you imagine them to be. And sometimes, when you give them a chance, they turn out to be better than you imagined. Different, but better. ~ Chloe Rattray
Ideal World quotes by Chloe Rattray
I have been to Guantanamo. It's a model prison. Is it ideal? No. But we live in a very un-ideal world. ~ Peter T. King
Ideal World quotes by Peter T. King
It is this research into pure painting that is the problem at the present moment. I do not know any painters in Paris who are really searching for this ideal world. ~ Robert Delaunay
Ideal World quotes by Robert Delaunay
The triumph of writing fiction is that by doing so, writers can build a more ideal world in themselves. ~ Lauren Groff
Ideal World quotes by Lauren Groff
In an ideal world, I'd spend every weekend at my home in Zermatt in Switzerland. ~ Vanessa Mae
Ideal World quotes by Vanessa Mae
An ideal world in my own home ... I'm not yet sure why the prospect appalls me quite so much, but I do know somewhere in me that (he) is wrong, that a life without hatred is no life at all, that my children should be allowed to despise whom they like. Now there's a right worth fighting for ... ~ Nick Hornby
Ideal World quotes by Nick Hornby
They (Medievalists) are soft, dreamy people who find life too hard for them here and get lost in an ideal world of the past that never really existed. ~ Isaac Asimov
Ideal World quotes by Isaac Asimov
In an ideal world, nobody's work would be just about the money. People could pursue excellence in what they do, take pride in achievement, and derive meaning from knowing that their work improved the lives of others. ~ Barry Schwartz
Ideal World quotes by Barry Schwartz
Christianity would be powerless to block this trend because it exists only in the realm of the spirit - "like a vision in a pure ideal world." Islam, on the other hand, is "a complete system" with laws, social codes, economic rules, and its own method of government. Only Islam offered a formula for creating a just and godly society. Thus ~ Lawrence Wright
Ideal World quotes by Lawrence Wright
In an ideal world for me, school lunch would be free for everybody. ~ Tom Colicchio
Ideal World quotes by Tom Colicchio
hoarders tend to be perfectionists, that each item they collect is one crucial part of an ideal world they are ever creating for themselves. ~ Kimberly Rae Miller
Ideal World quotes by Kimberly Rae Miller
There is the family of our birth and then there is a more noble world to which we really belong; the richness of this ideal world is often proportional to the poverty of the real, as personal grandiosity is proportional to shame. ~ Lewis Hyde
Ideal World quotes by Lewis Hyde
In an ideal world the script is written lean and tight and therefore there are no scenes left on the cuttring room floor and therefore no extended edition. ~ Peter Jackson
Ideal World quotes by Peter Jackson
Part of me wished that my birth family could have been there too, but it would have been too hard for my parents, and I didn't want that day spoiled with strained feelings. In an ideal world, both my families would have come together. ~ Zara Phillips
Ideal World quotes by Zara Phillips
Melancholy isn't, of course, a disorder that needs to be cured. It's a species of intelligent grief which arises when we come face to face with the certainty that disappointment is written into the script from the start.
We have not been singled out. Marrying anyone, even the most suitable of beings, comes down to a case of identifying which variety of suffering we would most like to sacrifice ourselves for.
In an ideal world, marriage vows would be entirely rewritten. At the altar, a couple would speak thus: "We accept not to panic when, some years from now, what we are doing today will seem like the worst decision of our lives. Yet we promise not to look around, either, for we accept that there cannot be better options out there. Everyone is always impossible. We are a demented species."
After the solemn repetition of the last sentence by the congregation, the couple would continue: "We will endeavor to be faithful. At the same time, we are certain that never being allowed to sleep with anyone else is one of the tragedies of existence. We apologize that our jealousies have made this peculiar but sound and non-negotiable restriction very necessary. We promise to make each other the sole repository of our regrets rather than distribute them through a life of sexual Don Juanism. We have surveyed the different options for unhappiness, and it is to each other we have chosen to bind ourselves."
Spouses who had been cheated upon would no longer be at liberty fu ~ Alain De Botton
Ideal World quotes by Alain De Botton
As we suggested near the beginning of this book, if morality represents an ideal world, then economics represents the actual world. ~ Steven D. Levitt
Ideal World quotes by Steven D. Levitt
The message from too many Democrats and Republicans alike remains that we should not let facts get in the way of our day-dreams. It's so much easier to fantasize about an alternative and ideal world, rather than making the hard and unpopular decisions that are necessary to deal with the complicated and frustrating one in which we live. It is so much easier to imagine that world as a blank slate on which America can draw as it wishes, rather than to recognize that limits on American power, and recalibrate strategy accordingly. If Americans fail to reexamine their fundamental attitudes toward that world, then the risk for the future is that failure in Iraq will make the United States more cautious, but not wiser. ~ John Hulsman
Ideal World quotes by John Hulsman
Design came into being in 1919, when Walter Gropius founded the Bauhaus at Weimar. Part of the prospectus of this school reads:
'The function of art has in the past been given a formal importance which has severed it from our daily life; but art is always present when a people lives sincerely and health.
'Thus our job is to invest a new system of education that may lead to a complete knowledge of human needs and a universal awareness of them.'
[...]
What Gropius wrote is still valid. Tis first school of design did tend to make a new kind of artist, an artist useful to society because he helps society to recover its balance, and not to lurch between a false world to live one's material life in and and ideal world to take moral revenge in. ~ Bruno Munari
Ideal World quotes by Bruno Munari
Why did they devise censorship? To show a world which doesn't exist, an ideal world, or what they envisaged as the ideal world. And we wanted to depict the world as it was. ~ Krzysztof Kieslowski
Ideal World quotes by Krzysztof Kieslowski
In an ideal world no one would talk before 10am. People would just hug, because waking up is really hard. ~ Zooey Deschanel
Ideal World quotes by Zooey Deschanel
In an incomprehensible reversal of all righteous and pious thinking, God declares himself guilty to the world and thereby extinguishes the guilt of the world. God himself takes the humiliating path of reconciliation and thereby sets the world free. God wants to be guilty of our guilt and takes upon himself the punishment and suffering that this guilt brought to us. God stands in for godlessness, love stands in for hate, the Holy One for the sinner. Now there is no longer any godlessness, any hate, any sin that God has not taken upon himself, suffered, and atoned for. Now there is no more reality and no more world that is not reconciled with God and in peace. That is what God did in his beloved Son Jesus Christ. Ecce homo - see the incarnate God, the unfathomable mystery of the love of God for the world. God loves human beings. God loves the world - not ideal human beings but people as they are, not an ideal world but the real world. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Ideal World quotes by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
I only do children's films now! I think when you go to LA some people feel you've defected a little bit and that's not really the case. Ideally, I would love to work here and to work in America. That's in an ideal world. In fact, I came back to Britain recently to do an ITV1 drama that will be out in April for a couple of months! But I'm flying back to LA to do a pilot season. So, to work in both places is great. ~ Ashley Jensen
Ideal World quotes by Ashley Jensen
in an ideal world, adults should always consult a child before every stupid move they are likely to make. ~ Zoran Stojkovski
Ideal World quotes by Zoran Stojkovski
We don't live in an ideal world, but in a world dominated by sinful, selfish desires. ~ Billy Graham
Ideal World quotes by Billy Graham
At the time of Woodstock, I was just 13, but I used to see these exotic hippy creatures and I did look on with envy. How could you not? In an ideal world, I would have loved to have been a hippy - but I might have been a bit strait-laced. It was my fantasy. ~ Imelda Staunton
Ideal World quotes by Imelda Staunton
If something happened to Gillian, I'd rip the world down to save her, even if she spat in my face when I did. That's what parenthood means. ~ Seanan McGuire
Ideal World quotes by Seanan McGuire
The greatest thing a human soul ever does in this world is to see something and tell what it saw in a plain way. Hundreds of people can talk for one who can think, but thousands can think for one who can see. To see clearly is poetry, prophecy and religion, all in one. ~ John Ruskin
Ideal World quotes by John Ruskin
the most frustrating feeling in the world is when your mind wants to continue to fight, but your body has become incapable of ~ Ashley Jade
Ideal World quotes by Ashley Jade
It's like coming back to the womb. I'm coming back to my mum and it's wonderful to see her. It's the best space in the world. If it wasn't for this place I don't know what I'd have done with my life, ~ Pete Postlethwaite
Ideal World quotes by Pete Postlethwaite
It made a romantic tale. The young rouge, cheating death, returning to his grieving lover. But in reality? Ashyn had always known life did not resemble one of her book stories or Moria's bard tales, and yet there was a part of her that hoped it did. The more she saw, the more she realized she was wrong. People made up stories because that is what they wanted from their world. A place where goodness, kindness, and honor were rewarded. They were not rewarded. The people of Edgewood could attest to that. - Sea Of Shadows ~ Kelly Armstrong
Ideal World quotes by Kelly Armstrong
The story we are told of women is not this one. The story of women is the story of love, of foundering into another. A slight deviation: longing to founder and being unable to. Being left alone in the foundering, and taking things into one's own hands: rat poison, the wheels of a Russian train. Even the smoother and gentler story is still just a modified version of the above. In the demotic, in the key of bougie, it's the promise of love in old age for all the good girls of the world. ~ Lauren Groff
Ideal World quotes by Lauren Groff
You need a lot of different types of people to make the world better. ~ Joe Louis
Ideal World quotes by Joe Louis
It world be well had we more misers than we have among us. ~ Oliver Goldsmith
Ideal World quotes by Oliver Goldsmith
Despite the sisters' pretend rivalry and occasional squabbles, they were each other's staunchest ally and closest friend. Few people in Lillian's life had ever loved her except Daisy, who adored the ugliest stray dogs, the most annoying children, and things that needed to be repaired or thrown out altogether.
And yet for all their closeness, they were quite different. Daisy was an idealist, a dreamer, a mercurial creature who alternated between childlike whimsy and shrewd intelligence. Lillian knew herself to be a sharp-tongued girl with a fortress of defenses between herself and the rest of the world- a girl with well-maintained cynicism and a biting sense of humor. ~ Lisa Kleypas
Ideal World quotes by Lisa Kleypas
Every pilot thinks they're the best pilot in the world. I think I'm the best pilot. ~ Gordon Bethune
Ideal World quotes by Gordon Bethune
Sibyl Vane to love me! I want to make Romeo jealous. I want the dead lovers of the world to hear our laughter and grow sad. I want a breath of our passion to stir their dust into consciousness, to wake their ashes into pain. My God, Harry, how I worship her!" He was walking up and down the room as he spoke. Hectic spots of red burned on his cheeks. He was terribly excited. ~ Oscar Wilde
Ideal World quotes by Oscar Wilde
On my show 'One on One', I interview leaders from around the world - in politics, business, art. My other show, 'Her Village', is more like 'The View'. ~ Yang Lan
Ideal World quotes by Yang Lan
Politics was good a hundred years ago. Today, politicians have no ability to solve any problems because they are not students of behavior. They are not students of agriculture, oceanography - they know nothing about the factors that operate the world. ~ Jacque Fresco
Ideal World quotes by Jacque Fresco
Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing. ~ Ernest Hemingway,
Ideal World quotes by Ernest Hemingway,
In this life there is no purgatory; it is either hell or paradise; for to him who serves God truly, every trouble and infirmity turns into consolations, and through all kinds of trouble he has a paradise within himself even in this world: and he who does not serve God truly, and gives himself up to sensuality, has one hell in this world, and another in the next. ~ Philip Neri
Ideal World quotes by Philip Neri
And was it not perhaps more childlike and human to lead a Goldmund-life, more courageous, more noble perhaps in the end to abandon oneself to the cruel stream of reality, to chaos, to commit sins and accept their bitter consequences rather than live a clean life with washed hands outside the world, laying out a lonely harmonious thought-garden, strolling sinlessly among one's sheltered flower beds. Perhaps it was harder, braver and nobler to wander through forests and along the highways with torn shoes, to suffer sun and rain, hunger and need, to play with the joys of the senses and pay for them with suffering.
At any rate, Goldmund had shown him that a man destined for high things can dip into the lowest depths of the bloody, drunken chaos of life, and soil himself with much dust and blood, without becoming small and common, without killing the divine spark within himself, that he can err through the thickest darkness without extinguishing the divine light and the creative force inside the shrine of his soul. ~ Hermann Hesse
Ideal World quotes by Hermann Hesse
I think everything we do, on one level or another, as writers, most of our writing is informed by our world view. ~ Ted Dekker
