Launching a business is essentially an adventure in problem-solving. ~ Richard Branson
Launching A Business quotes by Richard Branson
For me, the most fun is change or growth. There are definitely elements of both that I like. Launching a business is kind of like a motorboat: You can go very quickly and turn fast. ~ Tony Hsieh
Launching A Business quotes by Tony Hsieh
Don't think too much. There'll be time to think later. Analysis won't help. You're chiseling now. You're passing your hands over the wood. Now the page is no longer blank. There's something there. It isn't your business yet to know whether it's going to be prize-worthy someday, or whether it will gather dust in a drawer. Now you've carved the tree. You've chiseled the marbled. You've begun. ~ Dani Shapiro
Launching A Business quotes by Dani Shapiro

A stock is not just a ticker symbol or an electronic blip; it is an ownership interest in an actual business, with an underlying value that does not depend on its share price. ~ Benjamin Graham
Launching A Business quotes by Benjamin Graham
Not long ago, the term 'business model' was not exactly on the tip of everyone's tongue. Then, in the early to mid-1990s, 'business model' became a catchphrase that described how a company makes money or saves money. ~ Marc Ostrofsky
Launching A Business quotes by Marc Ostrofsky
When you have a programmer-founded company it often gets really techy, if you have a producer or a business-person, it all really sets the flavor of the company, just the priorities and the way you deal with everything. ~ Tim Schafer
Launching A Business quotes by Tim Schafer
I have seen the consequences of attempting to shortcut this natural process of growth often in the business world, where executives attempt to "buy" a new culture of improved productivity, quality, morale, and customer service with strong speeches, smile training, and external interventions, or through mergers, acquisitions, and friendly or unfriendly takeovers. But they ignore the low-trust climate produced by such manipulations. When these methods don't work, they look for other Personality Ethic techniques that will - all the time ignoring and violating the natural principles and processes on which a high-trust culture is based. ~ Stephen R. Covey
Launching A Business quotes by Stephen R. Covey
The difference between a small local business that must share the fate of the local community and a large absentee corporation that is set up to escape the fate of the local community by ruining the local community. ~ Wendell Berry
Launching A Business quotes by Wendell Berry
[ ... ] nonstate conflicts kill far fewer people than conflicts that involve a government, perhaps a quarter as many. Again, this is not surprising, since goverments almost by definition are in the violence business. ~ Steven Pinker
Launching A Business quotes by Steven Pinker
There's a lot of symbolism to your return. Is that going to be enough to reinvigorate the company with a sense of magic? ~ Steve Jobs
Launching A Business quotes by Steve Jobs
I knew Quintessentially was a success when my father, who does a lot of business in Beirut, introduced himself to somebody and they said, 'Oh, do you know Ben Elliot? I'd really like to meet him.' I remember him ringing me up, really annoyed. ~ Ben Elliot
Launching A Business quotes by Ben Elliot
Look, King, it's none of my business, I know it must be difficult having a family member who…"
"Did you just call me King?" he said, cutting me off.
"Oh, yeah, sorry, I…"

In this day and age, you need a lot of patience if you are in the movie business. ~ Brett Ratner
Launching A Business quotes by Brett Ratner
In business the 80/20 principle is behind any innovation, any extra value. It is an entrepreneurial principle, a formula for value creation utilized not only by entrepreneurs, but by most managers and organizations. ~ Richard Koch
Launching A Business quotes by Richard Koch
She isn't simply unafraid of a good fight, she lives for it, and will often actively go looking for a fight. This is what differentiates your run-of-the-mill fighter from a crusader. The Warrior Princess Submissive is no shrinking violet. She is that dyed-in-the-wool Republican who attends the Democratic National Convention wearing a Rand Paul t-shirt. She is the African-American woman who invites herself to a Ku Klux Klan rally without a hood... and hands out business cards to everyone there. She is the woman who invites the Jehovah's Witnesses into her home and feeds them dinner, just for the opportunity to defend Christmas - even though she may be a Pagan.
When the other girls in high school or college were trying out for the pep squad or cheerleading, she set her sights on the debate team. While her friends agonize over how to "fit in" socially, she is war gaming ideas on how to change society to fit her ideals and principles. Are you someone she considers to be immoral or evil? Run. She will eviscerate you. ~ Michael Makai
Launching A Business quotes by Michael Makai
The [Dow-Alcoa and Alcoa-IG] negotiations [of 1929] reveal strikingly the technique of cartel diplomacy - the steady application of "pressure" and the resort alternatively to challenges and blandishments. The similarity to power politics in which trial by battle is a last resort is marked. The procedure discloses the vast gulf between big business in practice and the patterns of behavior assumed in a regime of free competition. It shows how the conference table superseded the market as the arena for decision making. ~ George W. Stocking
Launching A Business quotes by George W. Stocking
I ignore all the doomsaying nonsense. I'm in a business where the odds of ever earning a living are a zillion to one, so I know itcan be done. I know the impossible can become possible. ~ Marcia Wallace
Launching A Business quotes by Marcia Wallace
I pressed my lips together, trying to find a safe place to focus my attention. He filled the entire shower stall, his skin clean and wet, every part of him chiseled. His gym shorts clung to a package I had no business noticing. ~ Lisa Kessler
Launching A Business quotes by Lisa Kessler
Thanks for the American dream, to vulgarize and falsify until the bare lies shine through. Thanks for a country where nobody's allowed to mind their own business. ~ William S. Burroughs
Launching A Business quotes by William S. Burroughs
He's not a bad guy, John. It's human nature. He wanted it to be some mistake I made that he wouldn't have made, some flaw in me that he didn't share, so he could believe it wouldn't have happened to him. But it wasn't my fault. It was either blind, dumb, stupid luck from start to finish, in which case, we are all in the wrong business gentleman, or it was a God I cannot worship. ~ Mary Doria Russell
Launching A Business quotes by Mary Doria Russell
No movie becomes a hit without good reviews and word-of-mouth. No agency ever became a great brand by merely saying it was great - in advertising or by any other medium. ~ Rochelle B Lazarus
Launching A Business quotes by Rochelle B Lazarus
A calm person knows their business, their words are few, but they tell and looks like it is well planned. ~ Rashid Jorvee
Launching A Business quotes by Rashid Jorvee
My favourite part of my new book so far:

Chapter 48: Creatures of The Night

A figure stood in the stairwell beneath the Smoke's Poutinerie close to Simcoe Street and Adelaide Street West. He munched his pulled pork poutine and watched the strange object glide through the fog that engulfed the tall blue R.B.C. building.
"Nice night for a stroll," smiled The Rooster.

Upon heading North, Fred had decided to take a detour and glide the exact opposite way: South. It was why he was now flying through the fog that suspended over the R.B.C. building. Through the billowing cloud he sailed and higher up into the air as he was heading towards the business district of Toronto where all the skyscrapers were. As Fred got closer, he understood why they were labeled as skyscrapers: they basically scraped the sky. But the view from up here was fantastic. It was a rainy and cold night, but Fred felt very warm in his upgraded suit. Soon, he was zooming past the green windowed T.D. building and back towards the North side of Yonge Street.
However, as he sailed home, he began to worry about Allen. The Rooster had already cut up his ex-girlfriend so what would he do to Allen? Allen had been a friend to Fred when no one else had been there. Of course, he used to have many friends in preschool, elementary school, and high school but no one he clicked with. Allen McDougal was really the only family he had left and he didn't want The Rooster to kill his old f ~ Andy Ruffett

It's my impression that investment in Europe is done for the right reasons. Europe is a very good place to do business; it's a large market. ~ Margrethe Vestager
Launching A Business quotes by Margrethe Vestager
I've never been a very lonely person. I'm very good at being on my own. But after I met him, I lost a bit of that. It was like he helped me find some whole new section of my heart, one I didn't even know existed before. One for just him to fill. And when he wasn't there to do it, I felt his absence so keenly. I suppose this sounds very cliché and silly.
It's not that I didn't want to fall in love someday. I did. I'm quite romantic, although I don't know if it shows very much. But it seemed like such an abstract idea before. And something of an impossible one. And then I met him, and he was real, and it was all so unsettling and wonderful. But it's still very hard business to really let yourself fall, I think. Especially when you've come to feel like it's something you aren't cut out for.
But he was very patient with me, and I just really, really did love him. Eventually it came to seem worth all of the struggle. -- Emily ~ Hannah Johnson
Launching A Business quotes by Hannah Johnson
It seems like those of us who run a business can't go five minutes without encountering the term "company culture." The phrase is always uttered with extreme adoration, yet the very concept seems as nebulous as it is elusive. ~ Leah Busque
Launching A Business quotes by Leah Busque
It's a tricky business, nurturing that aura of unapproachability. ~ Dean Hale
Launching A Business quotes by Dean Hale
As a result of the digital age and the decline of first-class mail, there is no question that the Postal Service must change and develop a new business model. ~ Bernie Sanders
Launching A Business quotes by Bernie Sanders
The reality is that most companies are not about any values at all - they are about making money. It is extremely rare for a business to stand for anything because most businesses don't want to alienate potential customers, and if you believe in anything you are going to alienate someone. ~ Jerry Greenfield
Launching A Business quotes by Jerry Greenfield
Where one sees a dead end, another sees a freeway without a speed limit. That's what separates the entrepreneur or small business owner from the rest of the world. ~ Sarah Gerdes
Launching A Business quotes by Sarah Gerdes
Business is not a science; it is not susceptible to experiments that can be controlled and replicated. Everything in business is too unpredictable for that - every business, employee, product, market is different and keeps changing. ~ Margaret Heffernan
Launching A Business quotes by Margaret Heffernan
In a world of widely distributed knowledge, companies cannot afford to rely entirely on their own research, but should instead buy or license processes or inventions (i.e. patents) from other companies. In addition, internal inventions not being used in a firm's business should be taken outside the company. ~ Henry Chesbrough
Launching A Business quotes by Henry Chesbrough
"Patents make our product defensible." The optimal number of times to use the P word in a presentation is one. Just once, say, "We have filed patents for what we are doing." Done. The second time you say it, venture capitalists begin to suspect that you are depending too much on patents for defensibility. The third time you say it, you are holding a sign above your head that says, "I am clueless." ~ Guy Kawasaki
Launching A Business quotes by Guy Kawasaki
I think a beautiful dress on the wrong woman could mean nothing. It has to be the right woman and the right clothes. That's why you need that personal touch. I mean, that's why I went into this business to begin with. ~ Jason Wu
Launching A Business quotes by Jason Wu
Being fired from a show - being fired in any way, in any instance, any business - is just hard. ~ Kathleen Rose Perkins
Launching A Business quotes by Kathleen Rose Perkins
But I must say, it's a lonely business fucking someone you no longer love. Especially a husband.
Tough, funny, vulgar, cynical, it was a classic Ava Gardner line.
It rolled off the tongue. I didn't want to lose it.
The problem was I couldn't reconcile it with something she had told me earlier--that she was "even more in love with all three of my husbands the day I left them than the day we married."
-author Peter Evans ~ Peter Evans

You are allowed to draw lines even if your feelings are irrational. Part of the marvelous business of being an adult human is that you get to set your own boundaries for whatever reasons you like, without appending a sensible rationale to them. ~ Mallory Ortberg

If you offer people a decent service, if you give them you know Internet access, if their phones are not cut off on the trains, you know if you have plugs where they can plug in their computers, and if you have a smiling, cheerful staff; and if you can travel really quickly, then you can make a success out of the rail business. ~ Richard Branson

Don't find a nice guy. You'd get bored, and he wouldn't know what to do with you. So ... yeah, be pissed at me if you want, but you
you're one-of-a-kind ... " He paused, unsure of what he was really trying to say. "So just find a guy that gets that, you know?" He rolled his eyes at the longest voicemail in history. "Or just ignore me, because it's none of my business, anyway. ~ Elizabeth Hunter
