In this country that grows more food than any other nation on this earth, it is unthinkable that any child should go hungry. ~ Sela Ward
Hunger Awareness quotes by Sela Ward
There are genuinely sufficient resources in the world to ensure that no one, nowhere, at no time, should go hungry. ~ Ed Asner
Hunger Awareness quotes by Ed Asner
My motto in life is 'If you think it, you can do it' and if we all apply that thought we can end hunger the world over. ~ Dionne Warwick
Hunger Awareness quotes by Dionne Warwick
If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger. ~ Buzz Aldrin
Hunger Awareness quotes by Buzz Aldrin
Ensnared in his starvation, Chaplin-man is always just below political awareness. A strike is a catastrophe for him because it threatens a man truly blinded by his hunger; this man achieves an awareness of the working-class condition only when the poor man and the proletarian coincide under the gaze (and the blows) of the police. ~ Roland Barthes
Hunger Awareness quotes by Roland Barthes
Recent research shows that many children who do not have enough to eat wind up with diminished capacity to understand and learn. Children don't have to be starving for this to happen. Even mild undernutrition - the kind most common among poor people in America - can do it. ~ Carl Sagan
Hunger Awareness quotes by Carl Sagan
A hungry man is not a free man. ~ Adlai E. Stevenson II
Hunger Awareness quotes by Adlai E. Stevenson II
Hunger makes a thief of any man. ~ Pearl S. Buck
Hunger Awareness quotes by Pearl S. Buck
Eating alone is a disappointment. But not eating matter more, is hollow and green, has thorns like a chain of fish hooks, trailing from the heart, clawing at your insides. Hunger feels like pincers, like the bite of crabs; it burns, burns, and has no fur. Let us sit down soon to eat with all those who haven't eaten; let us spread great tablecloths, put salt in lakes of the world, set up planetary bakeries, tables with strawberries in snow, and a plate like the moon itself from which we can all eat. For now I ask no more than the justice of eating. ~ Pablo Neruda
Hunger Awareness quotes by Pablo Neruda
On a throne at the center of a sense of humor sits a capacity for irony. All wit rests on a cheerful awareness of life's incongruities. It is a gentling awareness, and no politician without it should be allowed near power. ~ George Will
Hunger Awareness quotes by George Will
Tessa poked at her left incisor with her tongue. It was flat again, an ordinary tooth. "I don't understand what makes them come out like that!"
"Hunger," said Jem. "Were you think about blood?"
"No."
"Were you thinking about eating me?" Will inquired.
"No!"
"No one would blame you," said Jem. "He's very annoying. ~ Cassandra Clare
Hunger Awareness quotes by Cassandra Clare
People who suffer from alexithymia tend to feel physically uncomfortable but cannot describe exactly what the problem is. As a result they often have multiple vague and distressing physical complaints that doctors can't diagnose. In addition, they can't figure out for themselves what they're really feeling about any given situation or what makes them feel better or worse. This is the result of numbing, which keeps them from anticipating and responding to the ordinary demands of their bodies in quiet, mindful ways. If you are not aware of what your body needs, you can't take care of it. If you don't feel hunger, you can't nourish yourself. If you mistake anxiety for hunger, you may eat too much. And if you can't feel when you're satiated, you'll keep eating. ~ Bessel A. Van Der Kolk
Hunger Awareness quotes by Bessel A. Van Der Kolk
I'm challenging everybody on every side of every divide to be more who they are, to cultivate their capacity for awareness. ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn
Hunger Awareness quotes by Jon Kabat-Zinn
Humans are storytellers. It is our nature to make up stories, to interpret everything we perceive. Without awareness, we give our personal power to the story and the story writes itself. With awareness, we recover the control of our story. We see we are the authors and if we don't like our story, we change it. ~ Miguel Ruiz
Hunger Awareness quotes by Miguel Ruiz
To be a living being is not the ultimate state; there is something [the Reality] beyond, much more wonderful, which is neither being nor non-being, neither living nor not-living. It is a state of Pure Awareness, beyond the limitations of space and time. ~ Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
Hunger Awareness quotes by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
Our enemy within are our Core Negative Beliefs. Negative beliefs hide from the Consciousness and they get exposed by the Magic of Mindfulness and Awareness. Explore Your Core Beliefs, Challenge Existing, Train Mindfulness, Understand Beauty, Work with Emptiness, Meditate ~ Natasa Nuit Pantovic
Hunger Awareness quotes by Natasa Nuit Pantovic
Not to be attached to something is to be aware of its absolute value. Everything you do should be based on such an awareness, and not on material or self-centered ideas of value. ~ Shunryu Suzuki
Hunger Awareness quotes by Shunryu Suzuki
Frankly, we hesitate to pile on the data, since even when numbers are persuasive, they are not galvanizing. A growing collection of psychological studies show that statistics have a dulling effect, while it is individual stories that move people to act. In one experiment, research subjects were divided into several group, and each person was asked to donate $5 to alleviate hunger abroad. One group was told the money would go to Rokia, a seven-year-old girl in Mali. Another group was told that the money would go to address malnutrition among 21 million Africans. The third group was told that the donations would go to Roka, as in the first group, but this time her own hunger was presented as part of a background tapestry of global hunger, with some statistics thrown in. People were much more willing to donate to Rokia than to 21 million hungry people, and even a mention of the larger problem made people less inclined to help her. In another experiment, people were asked to donate to a $300,000 fund to fight cancer. One group was told that the money would be used to save the life of one child, while another group was told it would save the lives of eight children. People contributed almost twice as much to save one child as to save eight. Social psychologists argue that all this reflects the way our consciences and ethical systems are based on individual stories and are distinct from the parts of our brain concerned with logical and rationality. Indeed, when subjects in experime ~ Nicholas D. Kristof
Hunger Awareness quotes by Nicholas D. Kristof
It's not enough to raise awareness. You have to give people solutions, and you have to invite them to get involved in whatever way they can, whether that's doing volunteer work or taking a portion of their salary and figuring out where they want that money to go. You have to find ways to inspire people to get involved. ~ Madonna Ciccone
Hunger Awareness quotes by Madonna Ciccone
Spontaneity in the therapeutic work arises when the therapist can allow creative and authentic impulses to arise from moment to moment from the inner being, from the meditative quality within, from the inner emptiness, from the capacity to surrender to life. Then the therapist becomes less of a technician and more of an artist in the therapeutic work. It is then when the therapist and client meets in awareness without any barrier between. ~ Swami Dhyan Giten
Hunger Awareness quotes by Swami Dhyan Giten
He was a foreigner here. There was no profit in discontent. He could not apply his bitterness. It was American-made and had no local standing. For the first time he realized what a dangerous thing he'd done, leaving his country. He struggled against this awareness. He hated knowing something he didn't want to know. ~ Don DeLillo
Hunger Awareness quotes by Don DeLillo
The outside world can only trigger or block your experience of your true nature. Each time something beautiful takes your breath away, that's you experiencing yourself. Each time you fall in love with someone, that's you experiencing yourself. Each time a child's smile gives you unspeakable joy, that's you experiencing yourself. Your true nature is beautiful. Life is the art of rediscovering yourself, again and again, in different forms, celebrating, rejoicing, welcoming. You are beautiful. You are life itself. ~ Vironika Tugaleva
Hunger Awareness quotes by Vironika Tugaleva
I had battled my own demons that day, facing down the thing that imprisoned me since the accident-a scar and the diffidence it created inside of me. But it was just a physical blemish, not something that made me who I am. It took a mentally disturbed murderer who gave me a sneak peak at death to show me that. ~ Pamela Crane
Hunger Awareness quotes by Pamela Crane
He kissed her violently, wanting to somehow inhale her into himself, unable to stop the fury of his reaction, the trembling rocking hunger for her - so vast and all-encompassing, he couldn't stand it.
Mattie, flowing all around him, met his savagery. He clasped her hips hard against him, found himself biting her neck, laving her breasts with his tongue. He felt such unblunted, furious desire he thought he might die of it. ~ Barbara Samuel
Hunger Awareness quotes by Barbara Samuel
The novel is about, for me, sustained and organized looking. I do think that people have a hunger for a sustained engagement, that concentration that the book can offer. ~ Dana Spiotta
Hunger Awareness quotes by Dana Spiotta
As a human being, one of my preferences has been the calm infusing the sun at sunset (...) surrounded by a fatuous and fleeting glow. As an exhausted warrior who returns from a long battle to his homeland. ~ Efrat Cybulkiewicz
Hunger Awareness quotes by Efrat Cybulkiewicz
To allow ourselves to be truly in touch with where we already are, no matter where that is, we have got to pause in our experience long enough to let the present moment sink in; long enough to actually feel the present moment, to see it in its fullness, to hold it in awareness and thereby come to know and understand it better. ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn
Hunger Awareness quotes by Jon Kabat-Zinn
Dryden was a highly prolific literary figure, a professional writer who was at the centre of all the greatest debates of his time: the end of the Commonwealth, the return of the monarch, the political and religious upheavals of the 1680s, and the specifically literary questions of neoclassicism opposed to more modern trends. He was Poet Laureate from 1668, but lost this position in 1688 on the overthrow of James II. Dryden had become Catholic in 1685, and his allegorical poem The Hind and the Panther (1687) discusses the complex issues of religion and politics in an attempt to reconcile bitterly opposed factions. This contains a well-known line which anticipates Wordsworth more than a century later: 'By education most have been misled … / And thus the child imposes on the man'. The poem shows an awareness of change as one grows older, and the impossibility of holding one view for a lifetime:

My thoughtless youth was winged with vain desires,
My manhood, long misled by wandering fires,
Followed false lights…

After 1688, Dryden returned to the theatre, which had given him many of his early successes in tragedy, tragi-comedy, and comedy, as well as with adaptations of Shakespeare.

Dryden was an innovator, leading the move from heroic couplets to blank verse in drama, and at the centre of the intellectual debates of the Augustan age. He experimented with verse forms throughout his writing life until Fables Ancient and Modern (1700) ~ Ronald Carter
Hunger Awareness quotes by Ronald Carter
We look back through countless millions of years and see the great will to live struggling out of the intertidal slime, struggling from shape to shape and from power to power, crawling and then walking confidently upon the land, struggling generation after generation to master the air, creeping down the darkness of the deep; we see it turn upon itself in rage and hunger and reshape itself anew, we watch it draw nearer and more akin to us, expanding, elaborating itself, pursuing its relentless inconceivable purpose, until at last it reaches us and its being beats through our brains and arteries...It is possible to believe that all the past is but the beginning of a beginning, and that all that is and has been is but the twilight of the dawn. It is possible to believe that all that the human mind has accomplished is but the dream before the awakening; out of our lineage, minds will spring that will reach back to us in our littleness to know us better than we know ourselves. A day will come, one day in the unending succession of days, when beings, beings who are now latent in our thoughts and hidden in our loins, shall stand upon this earth as one stands upon a footstool, and shall laugh and reach out their hands amidst the stars. ~ H.G. Wells
Hunger Awareness quotes by H.G. Wells
Self awareness is only powerful when knowledge is understood and applied, only then can it manifest into true wisdom! ~ Martin R. Lemieux
Hunger Awareness quotes by Martin R. Lemieux
You may travel the whole world, but you'll not find true religion anywhere. Whatever there is, it is in your own mind. ~ Abhijit Naskar
Hunger Awareness quotes by Abhijit Naskar
Even one kid going hungry in America is one too many. How can we stand by when the reality is that there are more than 12 million underfed children in the U.S.? We can make a difference. ~ LeAnn Rimes
Hunger Awareness quotes by LeAnn Rimes
Governments neither help us to get out of poverty and hunger, nor let us die. It is time that we must pick one. ~ M.F. Moonzajer
Hunger Awareness quotes by M.F. Moonzajer
I perceive we postpone all our joys of Christ, till He and we be in our own house above, thinking that there is nothing of it here to be sought or found, but only hope and fair promises; and that Christ will give us nothing here but tears, sadness, crosses; and that we shall never feel the smell of the flowers of that high garden of paradise above, till we come there. Nay, but I find it possible to find young glory, and a young green paradise of joy even here. We dream of hunger in Christ's house, while we are here, although He alloweth feasts to all the bairns within God's household. ~ Samuel Rutherford
Hunger Awareness quotes by Samuel Rutherford
Negative habits eat you up. They're the biggest roadblocks that prevent you from realising your fullest potential; and the very first step towards crafting real change is to become aware of all the destructive habits that squander you! An awareness of what needs to be improved, tackled, or abandoned will go a long way in restructuring your life. Make a list of all the lousy habits that you want to eliminate; and then roust them out of your life, before they chomp you up completely. Axe them, uproot them, throw them into the ocean and never look back. ~ Manprit Kaur
Hunger Awareness quotes by Manprit Kaur
Journaling can be an excellent way to increase self-awareness, discover and change habits. ~ Akiroq Brost
Hunger Awareness quotes by Akiroq Brost
It is but a short step from hunger to starvation, from disease to death. ~ Ban Ki-moon
Hunger Awareness quotes by Ban Ki-moon
God is the soul of the universe. ~ Swami Dhyan Giten
Hunger Awareness quotes by Swami Dhyan Giten
Atisha says: Awareness inside, compassion on the outside. Compassion is the outer side of awareness, the exterior of awareness. Awareness is your interiority, subjectivity. Compassion is relating with others, sharing with others. ~ Osho
Hunger Awareness quotes by Osho
It is our suffering that brings us together. It is not love. Love does not obey the mind, and turns to hate when forced. The bond that binds us is beyond choice. We are brothers. We are brothers in what we share. In pain, which each of us must suffer alone, in hunger, in poverty, in hope, we know our brotherhood. We know it, because we have had to learn it. We know that there is no help for us but from one another, that no hand will save us if we do not reach out our hand. And the hand that you reach out is empty, as mine is. You have nothing. You possess nothing. You own nothing. You are free. All you have is what you are, and what you give. ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
Hunger Awareness quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
Tracking is a simple exercise. It works because it brings moment-to-moment awareness to the actions you take in the area of your life you want to improve ~ Darren Hardy
Hunger Awareness quotes by Darren Hardy
So this is the way we live now: conditioned by the awareness that no North Korean provocation, however egregious, can be confronted, lest it furnish the occasion or pretext for something truly barbarous and insane. ~ Christopher Hitchens
Hunger Awareness quotes by Christopher Hitchens
So I decided to do it [hike the Appalachian Trail]. More rashly, I announced my intention - told friends and neighbors, confidently informed my publisher, made it common knowledge among those who knew me. Then I bought some books ... It required only a little light reading in adventure books and almost no imagination to envision circumstances in which I would find myself caught in a tightening circle of hunger-emboldened wolves, staggering and shredding clothes under an onslaught of pincered fire ants, or dumbly transfixed by the sight of enlivened undergrowth advancing towards me, like a torpedo through water, before being bowled backwards by a sofa-sized boar with cold beady eyes, a piercing squeal, and slaverous, chopping appetite for pink, plump, city-softened flesh. ~ Bill Bryson
Hunger Awareness quotes by Bill Bryson
When you accept you have to rescue yourself, then you're adulting. ~ Sharon Pearson
Hunger Awareness quotes by Sharon Pearson
Even for people like us - there's always someone who's hungrier. And hunger, well, it comes in different forms." He lowered his head. "I try not to forget that," he finished quietly, looking slightly embarrassed. ~ Mia Sheridan
Hunger Awareness quotes by Mia Sheridan
Mother energy is universal. It is the large expression of the sacred feminine that comes from spirit. It is embodied in all our biological mothers, but its not limited or confined to them. ~ Elaine Seiler
Hunger Awareness quotes by Elaine Seiler
It's not what we've done or what we can do, but for who we are that we wish to be loved for. ~ Drew Gerald
Hunger Awareness quotes by Drew Gerald
Nature satisfies my thirst; it feeds my hunger; it finds me clothing; it affords me shelter; it wraps me around when I sleep with beneficent and watchful care; and it takes me at last to its great bosom, where my ashes mingle with their kindred dust. ~ Edwin Hubbel Chapin
Hunger Awareness quotes by Edwin Hubbel Chapin
I lean over and put my good ear to his lips, which tickle me as he whispers. Remember, we're madly in love, so it's all right to kiss me any time you like it. ~ Suzanne Collins
Hunger Awareness quotes by Suzanne Collins
I firmly believe that life will continually try to teach you the same lesson, with increasing pain, until you heed the call. ~ Chris Matakas
Hunger Awareness quotes by Chris Matakas
I had come to see, too, that all my characters and I were motivated by the same inspiration. Whether it was power they sought, or revenge, or love - well, those were all just different forms of hunger. The bigger the hole inside you, the more desperate you became to fill it. As ~ Jodi Picoult
Hunger Awareness quotes by Jodi Picoult
People demanded of those who were suffering their way through the German autumn that they should learn from their misfortune. No one thought that hunger is a very bad teacher ~ Stig Dagerman
Hunger Awareness quotes by Stig Dagerman
extra calorie either be consumed or conserved. As a result, anyone driven to put on fat by such a metabolic or hormonal defect would be driven to excessive eating, physical inactivity, or some combination. Hunger and indolence would be side effects of such a hormonal defect, merely facilitating the drive to fatten. ~ Gary Taubes
Hunger Awareness quotes by Gary Taubes
In the light of calm and steady self-awareness, inner energies wake up and work miracles without any effort on your part. ~ Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
