You've got one life to live, and you must live it for you! Do what makes you happy, and do it to the best of your ability. Embrace those who truly love you, and renounce the ones who don't. Love and be loved. Do the things that bring you elation and enjoy them! Shun all negativity and embrace the positive. Do away with all fear, and allow love to envelop you. Be happy. Be free. Be at peace. And be yourself. Eat, drink, be merry ... and make life a stone groove. ~ Cat Ellington
Groove quotes by Cat Ellington
Then I started listenin' a lot to classical composers. Piano works. Just to see what they were doin'. That sort of put me in a different groove to try to blend all that in. ~ Mose Allison
Groove quotes by Mose Allison
Oh God almighty, another Detroit monster is Chad Smith of the Chili Peppers. Their music is intoxicating between Flea and Chad Smith. They're contemporary because they're still making good records, but I don't think there's anything new that has a groove and soulfulness. The Chili Peppers just stink of soul-and that's the ultimate compliment. They continue what James Brown created. ~ Ted Nugent
Groove quotes by Ted Nugent
And there were the warm spaces in the music I loved the most, openings through which I could enter and lay my burdens down. There, behind the groove and riding on the melody, I was complete and free. ~ Rashod Ollison
Groove quotes by Rashod Ollison
What a child does not know and does not want to know of race and colour and class, he learns soon enough as he grows to see each man flipped inexorably into some predestined groove like a penny or a sovereign in a banker's rack. Kibii, the Nandi boy, was my good friend. Arab Ruta (the same boy grown to manhood), who sits before me, is my good friend, but the handclasp will be shorter, the smile will not be so eager on his lips, and though the path is for a while the same, he will walk behind me now, when once, in the simplicity of our nonage, we walked together. ~ Beryl Markham
Groove quotes by Beryl Markham
Inertia is the death of creativity. You have to stay in the groove. When you get out of the groove, you start to dread the work, because you know it's going to suck for a while - it's going to suck until you get back into the flow. ~ Austin Kleon
Groove quotes by Austin Kleon
The Heads were the only band on that scene that had a groove. ~ David Byrne
Groove quotes by David Byrne
This is laid down with a groove funkier and blacker than anything Prince of Michael Jackson
or any other black artist of the recent years for that matter
has come up with. ~ Bret Easton Ellis
Groove quotes by Bret Easton Ellis
It's like the basket is an ocean and everything you throw up is going in. You get into that kind of groove, and it's all good. ~ Tristan Thompson
Groove quotes by Tristan Thompson
The focus of my playing is the groove, and every time I find a new rhythm, I find I can write a bunch of new songs. Learning how to dance, or drum, or to swing my body in a new way is the fundamental way I find a new riff. Because when you learn to swing your body in a new way, you begin to swing with your instrument differently. ~ Stone Gossard
Groove quotes by Stone Gossard
Expanding further on his own observations of Prince's writing style(s) during the course of the album's recording, fellow Paisley Park engineer Eddie Miller, who engineered the recording of 'Electric Chair' among other Prince recordings during the Batman era, recalled that "he would write all sorts of ways. I have to admit that I listened to some of his cassette demos that he would sometimes bring into the studio to reference (as I remember, he would hold the cassette player up to his ear, so you couldn't really hear it.). They were fascinating. His cassette demo technique was extremely crude but ingenious - it's like something you'd do if you had no access to any equipment. He'd use two cheap cassette recorders. If he wanted to hear drums, he'd record a human beat box rhythm for the length of the song - and most likely, he'd have the form of the song in his head while he was recording this. By the way, it was the same in the studio when he'd do his one man band approach to recording a song. He'd know the song in his head, and start out recording the drums for the song (it would essentially become the 'click track' - the way a click track should be). Back to the cassette demo - he'd then play his beat box groove over the speaker on the cassette recorder and sing the bass line while recording all this onto the second cassette machine. He'd build up a rhythm track this way, and then add vocals. And there's your demo. ~ Jake Brown
Groove quotes by Jake Brown
It's so easy to fall into a comfortable groove in life where you do the things that you like, and because of that, often times, we don't grow or change because we're not pushing ourselves. ~ Flea
Groove quotes by Flea
The average person wastes his life. He has a great deal of energy but he wastes it. The life of an average person seems at the end utterly meaningless…without significance. When he looks back…what has he done?

MIND

The mind creates routine for its own safety and convenience. Tradition becomes our security. But when the mind is secure it is in decay. We all want to be famous people…and the moment we want to be something…we are no longer free.

Intelligence is the capacity to perceive the essential…the what is. It is only when the mind is free from the old that it meets everything new…and in that there's joy. To awaken this capacity in oneself and in others is real education.

SOCIETY

It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. Nature is busy creating absolutely unique individuals…whereas culture has invented a single mold to which we must conform. A consistent thinker is a thoughtless person because he conforms to a pattern. He repeats phrases and thinks in a groove. What happens to your heart and your mind when you are merely imitative, naturally they wither, do they not?

The great enemy of mankind is superstition and belief which is the same thing. When you separate yourself by belief tradition by nationally it breeds violence. Despots are only the spokesmen for the attitude of domination and craving for power which is in the heart of almost everyone. Until the source is ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti
Groove quotes by Jiddu Krishnamurti
A leaf that is destined to grow large is full of grooves and wrinkles at the start. Now if one has no patience and wants it smooth offhand like a willow leaf, there is trouble ahead. ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Groove quotes by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
He slowly lifted his head, eyes focused on the ceiling. "I can dig through."
"Lachlain, I doona think that's wise. This house is centuries old and gets battered as you would no' believe."
"Doona care."
"You might care that all three stories are tongue-and-groove construction - one piece falls, it'll be like a domino effect. War, hurricanes, and constant lightning have made it unsound. I doona think Val Hall can take a Lykae biting through the first floor."
"Support it while I'm gone."
"Hold the floor? If I canna, you could be hurting both our mates. This place could come crashing down."
Lachlain slapped him on the shoulder. "Be sure that you doona drop it. ~ Kresley Cole
Groove quotes by Kresley Cole
Writers have different habits, different ways of getting in the groove, and they work at different speeds, but to produce a long work, there must always come extended periods of focused narration."

Rat ~ Stephen King
Groove quotes by Stephen King
I love helping people fulfill their dreams, but I also want to revive some of my old dreams as well. Dr. Dale E. Turner once wrote, "Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born." As a kid, I had a lot of dreams. I wanted to be an explorer, an Oscar-winning leading man, a rock guitarist/singer. But I got into a groove and I began to let those dreams go and accept they weren't going to happen.
Now, I think I've reached a point where I want to quench the thirst of all my dreams. If they don't come to fruition in the exact way I envisioned them, that's okay. I at least want to pursue them. ~ Derek Hough
Groove quotes by Derek Hough
The Meters are, I think, the most influential group in our time to come out of New Orleans, to have changed and introduced us all to a way of playing, and to a groove and a level of feel in playing funk-jazz. ~ John Scofield
Groove quotes by John Scofield
I'm horny as a motherfucker, hard and itching to get my sadistic groove on. As I stroke myself, my mind starts coming up with all sorts of fantastic ways I can torture my beautiful wife as I look around the room for more everyday items that will work in that regard. ~ Ella Dominguez
Groove quotes by Ella Dominguez
I wore a groove in the kitchen floor with endless trips to the fridge, hoping against hope that I had somehow missed a plateful of cold sausages on the previous 4,000 excursions. Then, for no obvious reason, I decided to buy a footstool. ~ Jeremy Clarkson
Groove quotes by Jeremy Clarkson
What goes around may come around, but it never ends up exactly the same place, you ever notice? Like a record on a turntable, all it takes is one groove's difference and the universe can be on into a whole 'nother song. ~ Thomas Pynchon
Groove quotes by Thomas Pynchon
I really got into psych because everything has a really good groove to it and it's nicely spaced out, but ultimately they are just cool pop songs with a little something else that makes them special and unique. They are interesting and have another dimension to them besides a three chord change. ~ Mike Romano
Groove quotes by Mike Romano
a furtive groove ~ Katrina Cope
Groove quotes by Katrina Cope
The Good Turn will educate the boy out of the groove of selfishness. ~ Baden Powell De Aquino
Groove quotes by Baden Powell De Aquino
In good company your thoughts run, in solitude your thought is still; it goes deeper and makes for itself a deeper groove, delves. Delve meansa 'dig with a spade'; it means hard work. In talk your mind can be stretched, widened, exhilarated to heights but it cannot be deepened; you have to deepen it yourself.
It needs sturdiness. You will be lonely, you will be depressed; you must expect it; if you were training your body it would ache and be tired. It is worth it. There is a Hindu proverb which says: 'You only grow when you are alone'. ~ Rumer Godden
Groove quotes by Rumer Godden
History, she realized, was mostly lost. No matter how diligent the recorders, the witnesses, the researchers, most of the past simply no longer existed. Would never be known. The notion seemed to empty her out somewhere deep inside, as if the very knowledge of loss somehow released a torrent of extinction within her own memories-moments swirling away, never to be retrieved. She set a finger in one groove etched into the stone, followed its serpentine track downward as far as she could reach, then back up again. The first to do so in how long? ~ Steven Erikson
Groove quotes by Steven Erikson
Get out of your rut and into the groove ... ~ Ray Wylie Hubbard
Groove quotes by Ray Wylie Hubbard
In the end, the tenses of the verbs settled into a common groove, the persons of the narrators, first and third (the latter with so many variants and identities), became one, and events thronged toward a day that began uncertainly and remained undecided, with a light gray film covering the sky. ~ Filip Florian
Groove quotes by Filip Florian
The Jewish background is not that far from the black groove. Blacks are downtrodden, Jews are downtrodden, therefore they have something in common in that affliction. Being downtrodden often makes one more empathetic and sympathetic. ~ Jerry Leiber
Groove quotes by Jerry Leiber
We will never reach the world for Christ in our generation if we simply follow in the groove worn for us by our predecessors. ~ Melvin L. Hodges
Groove quotes by Melvin L. Hodges
I played in Velvet Revolver, which is a raw, bombastic blues band with a punk rock edge to it. It's like everything is based around the blues, no matter what the groove is. ~ Scott Weiland
Groove quotes by Scott Weiland
All the greatest men are maniacs. They are possessed by a mania which drives them forward towards thier goal. The great scientists, the philosophers, the religious leaders - all maniacs. What else but a blind singlenee of purpose could have given focus to thier genius, would have kept them in the groove of purpose. Mania ... is as priceless as genius. ~ Ian Fleming
Groove quotes by Ian Fleming
You can always tell when the groove is working or not. ~ Prince
Groove quotes by Prince
The trouble with specialists is that they tend to think in grooves. ~ Elaine Morgan
Groove quotes by Elaine Morgan
This dream the world is having about itself
includes a trace on the plains of the Oregon trail,
a groove in the grass my father showed us all
one day while meadowlarks were trying to tell
something better about to happen. ~ William Stafford
Groove quotes by William Stafford
You can't take it for granted. Even if we have two, three days off I still have to blow that horn a few hours to keep up the chops. I mean I've been playing 50 years, and that's what I've been doing in order to keep in that groove there. ~ Louis Armstrong
Groove quotes by Louis Armstrong
To live at all is to share a world with cagey magic, skeptical magic, asshole magic. But, honestly, the trees must belong to something; the blossoms that tongue each groove between buildings, the water and the stone and the serious man-made steel railings all must belong. This major artery where blood and starlight pump along the tracks, where banks and malls and office towers shudder and gestate in the concrete like baobab trees. ~ Jes Battis
Groove quotes by Jes Battis
Once you get into the groove of things and in the mood you are usually fine; it is before the event that you get nervous and irritable. ~ John Gallagher, Jr.
Groove quotes by John Gallagher, Jr.
There's a lot of hip-hop that would be great with a banjo in it. It would just groove like crazy, and I hope I get to be one of the guys who does that, because it's coming. It's coming. ~ Bela Fleck
Groove quotes by Bela Fleck
I have to decide whether I'm just laying down a groove, kind of a bed and canvas for the lyrics and music to live on, or trying to illustrate something in the lyrics. ~ Glenn Kotche
Groove quotes by Glenn Kotche
When you struggle winning matches all year and you don't really get into a groove or rhythm, you just can't expect to just come in here and have it click. ~ Pete Sampras
Groove quotes by Pete Sampras
That's the best way to feed the human mind. That's how Bob Marley did it. He never put it in your face. After you got the groove, you were just singing the hooks, because you thought it was cool. ~ Wyclef Jean
Groove quotes by Wyclef Jean
Got to sit in this big uncomfortable chair with my head leaning back in this groove. The hair washer must have ~ Paula Danziger
Groove quotes by Paula Danziger
If Frank were to see me like this," she thought, "he would put me to bed with a couple of sleeping pills, and call that smug Dr. Mensley to have a look at my mind. And Dr. Mensley would check my ambivalences and my repressions and my narcissistic, voyeuristic, masochistic impulses. He would tighten my screws and readjust me to reality, fit me into a comfortable groove, and take the pale beast out of me to make me a talking doll. ~ Walter M. Miller Jr.
Groove quotes by Walter M. Miller Jr.
When you hit a groove, it's not you; it's the spirit world. The spirits whisper the ideas in your brain and prod you along. They're the ones that are really happy. ~ Tommy Chong
Groove quotes by Tommy Chong
Being the foundation is what I live for, some people call it being in the pocket, some people call it a groove. I think it's the heartbeat. There's nothing that feels better than that. ~ Tommy Shannon
Groove quotes by Tommy Shannon
If he gave me a knife, he thought I'd need it. And not for digging up roots and hacking tree bark, either. Know its purpose, indeed. "It fits my hand," I said, looking down and stroking the small groove that fit my thumb. "How did you know to make it so exactly?" He laughed at that. "I've had your hand round my cock often enough to know the measure of your grip, Sassenach, ~ An Echo In The Bone.
Groove quotes by An Echo In The Bone.
Forget demolishing the grooves of the past. What you're creating is a new groove so deep, so powerful, that your thoughts will automatically flow down this one. ~ Kamal Ravikant
Groove quotes by Kamal Ravikant
True politeness is to social life what oil is to machinery, a thing to oil the ruts and grooves of existence. False politeness can shine without warming and glitter without vivifying. ~ Frances Harper
Groove quotes by Frances Harper
Change is about the narrowest and hardest groove that a man can get into. ~ G.K. Chesterton
Groove quotes by G.K. Chesterton
... the appearance of the third and youngest would hardly have been sufficient to characterize him; there was an uncribbed, uncabined aspect in his eyes and attire, implying that he had hardly as yet found the entrane to his professional groove. ~ Thomas Hardy
Groove quotes by Thomas Hardy
It was the doubt that knocked me over, Mina: the terrible doubt as to the reality of the whole thing. I felt impotent and in the dark. I did not know who or what to trust, not even the evidence of my own senses. So I tried to put it behind me and throw myself into my work, into what had hitherto been the groove of my life. But the groove no longer availed me, for I now mistrusted myself. ~ Syrie James
Groove quotes by Syrie James
I am the 'Cosmic Dancer' who dances his way out of the womb and into the tomb on 'Electric Warrior.' I'm not frightened to get up there and groove about in front of six million people on TV because it doesn't look cool. That's the way I would do it at home. ~ Marc Bolan
Groove quotes by Marc Bolan
The nature of the task needs to be renewed so people just don't feel that all the hard work is in the same groove all the time, under the same circumstances and in the same environment. ~ Timothy White
Groove quotes by Timothy White
In the beginning, all I wanted to do was to be a singer and a dancer. That was my real groove, my real interest. When it came to doing films, my biggest goal was to do a commercial. ~ Wesley Snipes
Groove quotes by Wesley Snipes
In the States, this type of jam-band phenomena has opened it up for groups to improvise, admittedly more in the groove area, as opposed to the straight-ahead jazz thing - which is good for me, as that's one part of where I'm at. It's been so great playing these gigs and seeing kids come out and the whole college scene. ~ John Scofield
Groove quotes by John Scofield
The writers we absorb when we're young bind us to them, sometimes lightly, sometimes with iron. In time, the bonds fall away, but if you look very closely you can sometimes make out the pale white groove of a faded scar, or the telltale chalky red of old rust. ~ Daniel Mendelsohn
Groove quotes by Daniel Mendelsohn
It's much harder, much more work to be your own artist, and it's hard for me to just want to do one thing. I love doing my own music, but I really have to get into a groove with it, which has been difficult over the last few years because I've had so much great work coming in. ~ Gail Ann Dorsey
Groove quotes by Gail Ann Dorsey
Grease is the word, is the word that you heard, It's got groove, its got feeling ... ~ Frankie Valli
Groove quotes by Frankie Valli
She got the way to move me, Cherry, she got the way to groove me. ~ Neil Diamond
Groove quotes by Neil Diamond
Those who are truly decrepit, living corpses, so to speak, are the middle-aged, middle-class men and woman who are stuck in their comfortable grooves and imagine that the status quo will least forever or else are so frightened it won't, that they have retreated into their mental bomb shelters to wait it out. ~ Henry Miller
Groove quotes by Henry Miller
How do you get Big Mo to pay you a visit? You build up to it. You get into the groove, the "zone," by doing the things we've covered so far: 1. Making new choices based on your goals and core values 2. Putting those choices to work through new positive behaviors 3. Repeating those healthy actions long enough to establish new habits 4. Building routines and rhythms into your daily disciplines 5. Staying consistent over a long enough period of time Then, BANG! Big Mo kicks in your door (that's a good thing)! And you're virtually unstoppable. ~ Darren Hardy
Groove quotes by Darren Hardy
Title: Blue Light Lounge Sutra For The Performance Poets At Harold Park Hotel

the need gotta be
so deep words can't
answer simple questions
all night long notes
stumble off the tongue
& color the air indigo
so deep fragments of gut
& flesh cling to the song
you gotta get into it
so deep salt crystalizes on eyelashes
the need gotta be
so deep you can vomit up ghosts
& not feel broken
till you are no more
than a half ounce of gold
in painful brightness
you gotta get into it
blow that saxophone
so deep all the sex & dope in this world
can't erase your need
to howl against the sky
the need gotta be
so deep you can't
just wiggle your hips
& rise up out of it
chaos in the cosmos
modern man in the pepperpot
you gotta get hooked
into every hungry groove
so deep the bomb locked
in rust opens like a fist
into it into it so deep
rhythm is pre-memory
the need gotta be basic
animal need to see
& know the terror
we are made of honey
cause if you wanna dance
this boogie be ready
to let the devil use your head
for a drum ~ Yusef Komunyakaa
Groove quotes by Yusef Komunyakaa
You get this really cool groove when you're playing just piano, bass, and drums where everyone's sort of feeling each other's space, which is the only way to put it, but it really is true, and everyone's sort of sitting in their own pocket. It's kind of jazz-like. ~ John Darnielle
Groove quotes by John Darnielle
I think many of us live in a rut. Stuck in a groove we can't get out of, whether it's our job, family drama or the little frustrations of everyday life. ~ Brian Pinkerton
Groove quotes by Brian Pinkerton
There's a very fine line between a groove and a rut; a fine line between eccentrics and people who are just plain nuts. ~ Christine Lavin
Groove quotes by Christine Lavin
I don't believe in taking much of a divot, especially with the longer irons. You want to barely comb the grass through impact. It's the only way to catch the ball on the second groove up from the bottom of the clubface. That's where you want to make contact: on the second groove. ~ Moe Norman
Groove quotes by Moe Norman
At Woodstock, we would focus our energy on peace, setting aside the onstage discussion of political issues to just groove on what might be possible. It was a chance to see if we could create the kind of world for which we'd been striving throughout the sixties: That would be our political statement - proving that peace and understanding were possible and creating a testament to the value of the counterculture.
It would be three days of peace and music. ~ Uwe Michael Lang
Groove quotes by Uwe Michael Lang
The evolution of a highly destined society must be moral; it must run in the grooves of the celestial wheels. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Groove quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
If you don't like what you're doing, then don't do it. ~ Ray Bradbury
Groove quotes by Ray Bradbury
I'm not going to lead my show talking about my kids, but will I perhaps mention my five-year-old swimming? Yeah! I think listeners groove on that because frankly, it's genuine. ~ Adam Schein
Groove quotes by Adam Schein
I think that's such an important message, especially for younger women, to know, 'I don't have to come out of the womb painting like Frida Kahlo. My very first thing that I make isn't going to be an around-the-world sensation.' You have to paint a hundred really ugly, barfy, diarrhea paintings before you come up with that one where you start to really get into your groove. ~ Kathleen Hanna
Groove quotes by Kathleen Hanna
you'll know you're hitting a groove when grocery shopping becomes less stressful and more focused (you actually have a list and no real reason to veer from it). ~ Kate Payne
Groove quotes by Kate Payne

A studio recording is perfection, but emotion and passion come only when you turn on the machine and go for the groove. If you do that with no mistakes, it sounds beautiful. ~ Chuck Mangione
Groove quotes by Chuck Mangione
Balance, the stroke of the wise, the style of the sharp. The way, the groove. Bal-ance: the sole of the feet, the soul of the Universe, takes step after step down the beat to time: da DUM, da DUM. Bal. Ance. ~ Mark Donnelly
Groove quotes by Mark Donnelly
Most of the time I sit down with my guitar or at the piano, and I play for awhile until I get a new riff or groove that I like a lot. Then I'll concentrate on building around that line of thought by adding words and textures. At first I'm only trying to please myself, and hopefully what I like will appeal to others. ~ Jackie DeShannon
Groove quotes by Jackie DeShannon
When he was turning thirty, Jobs had used a metaphor about record albums. He was musing about why folks over thirty develop rigid thought patterns and tend to be less innovative. " People get stuck in those patterns, just like grooves in a record, and they never get out of them, " he said. At age forty-five, Jobs was now about to get out of his groove. ~ Walter Isaacson
Groove quotes by Walter Isaacson
For every person who can imagine a possibility there are tens of thousands who are stuck in the greased grooves of history. ~ Gary Hamel
Groove quotes by Gary Hamel
I listen to everything from, you know, Buddha Bar groove music to international music, Italian music, like Eros. I like very sexy, funky music like Maxwell, Angie Stone, R&B ... In my CD player, I've probably got Maxwell, Beyonce, Enrique Iglesias, and kid music ... maybe some AC/DC. I mean a little bit of everything. It depends on what I'm doing. ~ Brooke Burke
Groove quotes by Brooke Burke
Please don't sing and dance," I whisper, but it's too late. He's snapping his fingers and doing this sexy groove to the music. It should look really stupid - and it kind of does - but with his tight abs and his tattoos and piercings, it's really just...precious. ~ C.M. Stunich
Groove quotes by C.M. Stunich
Who Dunnit?' profoundly expresses the theme of confusion against a funky groove, and what makes this song so exciting is that it ends with its narrator never finding anything out at all. ~ Bret Easton Ellis
Groove quotes by Bret Easton Ellis
I believe that when you're making a mix, you're making history. You ransack the vaults, you haul off all the junk you can carry, and you rewire all your ill-gotten loot into something new. You go through an artist's entire career, zero in on that one moment that makes you want to jump and dance and smoke bats and bite the heads off drugs. And then you play that one moment over and over. A mix tape steals these moments from all over the musical cosmos, and splices them into a whole new groove. ~ Rob Sheffield
Groove quotes by Rob Sheffield
I like to go beach-combing, and I like to find interestingly shaped rocks. When I really get into the groove I start finding beautiful rocks everywhere, until I discover that all of the rocks on the beach are beautiful. And so I try to find beauty even in the smallest moments, because beauty is something that can grow if you let it. ~ Douglas Coupland
Groove quotes by Douglas Coupland
So I'll set a cycle in motion and pop it into record and I'll lay down a drum pattern, a bass line, a keyboard and guitar part, and once the groove is going I launch into the song and sing my song over the top. ~ Thomas Dolby
Groove quotes by Thomas Dolby
There are no coincidences, only mysteries that haven't been solved, clues that haven't been placed. Most are blind to the language of the bird overhead, the leaf in our path, the phonographic record stuck in a groove, the unknown caller on the phone. They don't see the omens. They don't know the signs. ~ Sara Gran
Groove quotes by Sara Gran
God must be a smell, one of those delicious dreamy aromas that float into the soul on the warm hopeful days of spring. What is God must be one of those smells that beguile and inebriate the mind, who like a fine drunken horse of water the heart now rides, galloping wild in every direction like a river flooding right through the topsoil of your youth, cutting and eroding a groove that will be your life, a canyon sunk deep into the virgin plains and unsawn forests of your early days. ~ Martin Prechtel
Groove quotes by Martin Prechtel
You know, we had that groove; I didn't feel no way. ~ Dennis Brown
Groove quotes by Dennis Brown
On the contrary, the male has a vested interest in ignorance; it gives the few knowledgeable men a decided edge on the unknowledgeable ones, and besides, the male knows that an enlightened, aware female population will mean the end of him. The healthy, conceited female wants the company of equals whom she can respect and groove on; the male and the sick, insecure, unself-confident male female crave the company of worms. ~ Valerie Solanas
Groove quotes by Valerie Solanas
In his earliest memories he was sitting on the floor in the family room, in front of the giant stereo his parents had bought themselves as a wedding present, his face pressed into the padded fabric of one speaker. The fabric was prickly against his forehead but his nose fit perfectly into a little groove, and he could feel music spilling like molten gold through his entire body. He'd sit back on his heels when the song was over and his father, an accountant and amateur drummer whose (still-unrealized) dream was to open a jazz club and coffee house, would say, "Order up!" and put another record on the turntable. Rabbit's favorite albums were by Earth, Wind & Fire (syncopation made his brain feel like it was laughing) and Also sprach Zarathustra, its opening rumbling like an earthquake. And he loved The White Album, and when his mother played ABBA on the piano and they'd sing together (though Alice couldn't do it without being a total showoff), and the Star Wars soundtrack, and of _course_ Zeppelin. For six months in 1984, he had asked his parents to play "Stairway to Heaven" instead of a bedtime story. ~ Kate Racculia
Groove quotes by Kate Racculia
I do not yet want to form a hypothesis to test, because as soon as you make a hypothesis, you become prejudiced. Your mind slides into a groove, and once it is in that groove, has difficulty noticing anything outside of it. During this time, my sense must be sharp; that is the main thing - to be sharp, yet open. ~ Bernd Heinrich
Groove quotes by Bernd Heinrich
Her forehead was a maze of anxious little grooves, from a lifetime of wondering about whether everyone within range was OK. ~ Tana French
Groove quotes by Tana French
Pretend mic in hand, she danced into the bedroom, singing Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." She executed a few dance steps she'd read about in books on modern dance. Losing herself to the groove of the music, she swayed and gyrated as she belted out the lyrics. She toed off her shoes and shimmied out of her jeans, bending to slip them over her feet...
"I'm thinking this is a sight and a sound I could get used to. ~ Vonnie Davis
Groove quotes by Vonnie Davis
When you're in a groove, you're not spinning your wheels; you're moving forward in a straight and narrow path without pauses or hitches. You're unwavering, undeviating, and unparalleled in your purpose. A groove is the best place in the world. Because when you are in it, you have the freedom to explore, where everything you question leads you to new avenues and new routes. ~ Twyla Tharp
Groove quotes by Twyla Tharp
God cuts out our path, makes a groove in the clay with His finger, and we poor blind ants slide down into it. ~ Maria McCann
Groove quotes by Maria McCann
At first, it seemed bizarre to find the progressive left making common cause with radical Islam. One half of the alliance professed to be pro-gay, pro-feminist, pro-whatever's-your-bag secularists; the other half were homophobic, misogynist, anti-any-groove-you-dig theocrats...it made no sense.
