Meridian

First daylight on the bittersweet-hung
sleeping porch at high summer; dew
all over the lawn, sowing diamond-
point-highlighted shadows;
the hired man's shadow revolving
along the walk, a flash of milkpails
passing; no threat in sight, no hint
anywhere in the universe, of that

apathy at the meridian, the noon
of absolute boredom; flies
crooning black lullabies in the kitchen,
milk-soured crocks, cream separator
still unwashed; what is there to life
but chores and more chores, dishwater,
fatigue, unwanted children; nothing
to stir the longueur of afternoon

except possibly thunderheads;
climbing, livid, turreted alabaster
lit up from within by splendor and terror
-- forded lightening's
split-second disaster. ~ Amy Clampitt
Boredom quotes by Amy Clampitt
I always like routine. I suppose I never found boredom very boring. ~ John Green
Boredom quotes by John Green
Man, it really gets me down. When everything's exhausted there's nothing left. The rate I was running, it wouldn't be long. Then what? What's next? What's the score? I can't handle the rest of my life suspended in boredom. Such a chore! Gonna burn out because I can't stand to fade away. Get it all in fast and get out. No turning back now. It's just the way it is, the way I need to be. ~ Brian James
Boredom quotes by Brian James
I'm bored' is a useless thing to say. I mean, you live in a great, big, vast world that you've seen none percent of. Even the inside of your own mind is endless; it goes on forever, inwardly, do you understand? The fact that you're alive is amazing, so you don't get to say 'I'm bored. ~ Louis C.K.
Boredom quotes by Louis C.K.
The opium of the people in the present world is perhaps not so much religion as it is accepted boredom. Such a world is at the mercy, it must be known, of those who provide at least the semblance of an escape from boredom. Human life aspires to the passions, and again encounters its exigencies. ~ Georges Bataille
Boredom quotes by Georges Bataille
I hide myself behind, a cloud of smoke; the smoke screen varies, dependent on the variable. The variable consists of: stress, anguish, boredom, madness, anger, depression, apathy, negativity, sex, violence & a little chunk of chaos. ~ Emily H. Sturgill
Boredom quotes by Emily H. Sturgill
From every Englishman emanates a kind of gas, the deadly choke-damp of boredom. ~ Heinrich Heine
Boredom quotes by Heinrich Heine
The glance embroiders in joy, knits in pain, and sews in boredom.
When indifferent, the eye takes stills, when interested, movies.
Laughter is regional: a smile extends over the whole face. ~ Malcolm De Chazal
Boredom quotes by Malcolm De Chazal
And there is no harm in loving a stranger. In fact, it is more exciting to love a stranger. When you were not together, there was great attraction. The more you have been together, the more the attraction has become dull. The more you have become known to each other, superficially, the less is the excitement. Life becomes very soon a routine. People go on repeating the same thing, again and again. If you look at the faces of people in the world, you will be surprised: Why do all these people look so sad? Why do their eyes look as if they have lost all hope? The reason is simple; the reason is repetition. Man is intelligent; repetition creates boredom. Boredom brings a sadness because one knows what is going to happen tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow ... until one goes into the grave, it will be the same, the same story. Finkelstein ~ Osho
Boredom quotes by Osho
She was afraid of us moving in together. With Mark, domestic intimacy had become domestic claustrophobia; and had riddled romance (though she never quite said this) like woodworm. It wasn't that she was resistant to the glamourlessness of stray toenails and washing up and underpants and mug-rings and hoovering and boredom; on the contrary: it was that she was horrified by her own willingness to sink so deeply into the comfort of such details. A no nonsense streak in her identified the ordinary with truth, the exotic with delusion. She and Mark had delighted in dehumbugging their own romance, had (she confessed) Larkinized themselves into mundanity addicts. In Mark's case (she suspected) because he knew deep down he had no magic in him; in her own because she knew deep down that she had too much (no nonsense streak or not), and that to release it would be to lose him - and perhaps herself. Therefore they had wallowed together in cosiness, both suffering, Mark for fear of her leaving him, her for fear (certainty, actually) that the romantic inside her would rise up and smash their deadening familiarity to pieces. ~ Glen Duncan
Boredom quotes by Glen Duncan
But her life was as cold as an attic facing north; and boredom, like a silent spider, was weaving its web in the shadows, in every corner of her heart. ~ Gustave Flaubert
Boredom quotes by Gustave Flaubert
I write at high speed because boredom is bad for my health. ~ Noel Coward
Boredom quotes by Noel Coward
You should view each new travel frustration - sickness, fear, loneliness, boredom, conflict - as just another curious facet in the vagabonding adventure. ~ Rolf Potts
Boredom quotes by Rolf Potts
If your brain does not receive sufficient stimulus, it might find something else to do - it daydreams, it wanders, it thinks about itself. If this goes on too long, it can affect your mind's normal functioning. Chronic boredom correlates with depression and attention deficits. ~ Deborah Blum
Boredom quotes by Deborah Blum
Everything people do is because their need to do it,if it is not for direct need, then for indirect one, as: eating out of boredom not hunger. ~ Hadeer
Boredom quotes by Hadeer
Sexual boredom is ousting sexual deviance as the problem. ~ Mason Cooley
Boredom quotes by Mason Cooley
Boredom is the fear of self. ~ Marie Josephine De Suin
Boredom quotes by Marie Josephine De Suin
Boredom can be a very good thing for someone in a creative jam. ~ Stephen King
Boredom quotes by Stephen King
Jonathan Seagull discovered that boredom and fear and anger are the reasons that a gull's life is so short, and with those gone from his thought, he lived a long fine life indeed. ~ Richard Bach
Boredom quotes by Richard Bach
Pain frees you from complacency.
Tears free you from sorrow.
Weaknesses free you from pride.
Adversity frees from boredom.
Challenges free you from monotony. ~ Matshona Dhliwayo
Boredom quotes by Matshona Dhliwayo
Running through things because you are familiar with them, breeds routine and this is the seed of boredom. ~ James Galway
Boredom quotes by James Galway
The greatest threat to success is not failure, but boredom. We get bored with habits because they stop delighting us. The outcome becomes expected. And as our habits become ordinary, we start derailing our progress to seek novelty. Perhaps this is why we get caught up in a never-ending cycle, jumping from one workout to the next, one diet to the next, one business idea to the next. As soon as we experience the slightest dip in motivation, we begin seeking a new strategy - even if the old one was still working. As Machiavelli noted, "Men desire novelty to such an extent that those who are doing well wish for a change as much as those who are doing badly. ~ James Clear
Boredom quotes by James Clear
...what living things provide. In place of boredom, they offer spontaneity. In place of loneliness, they offer companionship. In place of helplessness, they offer a chance to take care of another being. ~ Atul Gawande
Boredom quotes by Atul Gawande
Think of new ways to do old things. You must protect against boredom in a practice situation. ~ George Raveling
Boredom quotes by George Raveling
Yakov spent the whole day playing his fiddle; when it got completely dark, he took the notebook in which he recorded his losses daily, and out of boredom began adding up the yearly total. It came to over a thousand roubles. This astounded him so much that he flung the abacus to the floor and stamped his feet. Then he picked up the abacus, again clicked away for a long time, and sighed deeply and tensely. His face was purple and wet with sweat. He thought that if he could have put that lost thousand roubles in the bank, he would have earned at least forty roubles a year in interest. And therefore those forty roubles were a loss. In short, wherever you turned, there was nothing but losses everywhere.
- Rothchild's Fiddle ~ Anton Chekhov
Boredom quotes by Anton Chekhov
This sense of entitlement contributes mightily to sloppiness, to low incentive, to boredom, to bad choices, to instant gratification, to constant demands for more, and to all kinds of addictions (including the addiction to technology). ~ Richard Eyre
Boredom quotes by Richard Eyre
Burnout often has as much boredom in it as exhaustion. ~ Ingrid Fetell Lee
Boredom quotes by Ingrid Fetell Lee
When a man plays with your heart it is for one of two reasons: He knows he can or he is undecided. ~ Shannon L. Alder
Boredom quotes by Shannon L. Alder
I did not love you out or boredom or loneliness or caprice. I loved you because the desire for you was stronger than any happiness. ~ Alessandro Baricco
Boredom quotes by Alessandro Baricco
Thirty years later he could not come to any other conclusion: women were indisputably better than men. They were gentler, more affectionate, more loving and more compassionate, they were rarely violent, selfish, cruel or self-centred. Moreover, they were more rational, more intelligent and more hardworking.
What on earth were men for? Michael wondered as he watched sunlight play across the closed curtains. In earlier times, when bears were more common, perhaps masculinity served a particular function, but for centuries now, men served no useful purpose. For the most part, they assuaged their boredom playing squash, which was a lesser evil; but from time to time they felt the need to change history - which expressed itself in leading a revolution or starting a war somewhere. Aside from the senseless suffering they caused, revolutions and war destroyed the achievements of the past, forcing societies to build again. Without the notion of continuous progress, human evolution took random, irregular and violent turns for which men (with their predilection for risk and danger, their repulsive egotism, their volatile nature and their violent tendencies) were directly to blame. A society of women would be immeasurably superior, tracing a slow, unwavering progression, with no U-turns and no chaotic insecurity, towards a general happiness. ~ Michel Houellebecq
Boredom quotes by Michel Houellebecq
Boredom ... causes us to neglect more duties than does interest. ~ Francois De La Rochefoucauld
Boredom quotes by Francois De La Rochefoucauld
Don't be afraid to let yourself get bored because some of the most amazing things are created through boredom. ~ Rachel Hamilton
Boredom quotes by Rachel Hamilton
I've matured. I have a much higher tolerance for boredom. ~ Tom Perrotta
Boredom quotes by Tom Perrotta
I am unpacking my library. Yes I am. The books are not yet on the shelves, not yet touched by the mild boredom of order. I cannot march up and down their ranks to pass them in review before a friendly audience. You need not fear any of that. Instead, I must ask you to join me in the disorder of crates that have been wrenched open, the air saturated with the dust of wood, the floor covered with torn paper, to join me among piles of volumes that are seeing daylight again after two years of darkness, so that you may be ready to share with me a bit of the mood
it is certainly not an elegiac mood but, rather, one of anticipation
which these books arouse in a genuine collector. ~ Walter Benjamin
Boredom quotes by Walter Benjamin
People of Wealth and the so called upper class suffer the most from boredom. ~ George Sanders
Boredom quotes by George Sanders
Rules equal boredom, and I don't like that. ~ Simon Cowell
Boredom quotes by Simon Cowell
Boredom is your mind and body's way of telling you you're not living up to your potential. ~ Hal Sparks
Boredom quotes by Hal Sparks
Right now religion has the romantic aura of the forbidden - Christ is cool. We need to bring it into the schools, which kids already hate, and associate it firmly with boredom, regulation, condescension, makework and de facto segregation ... Prayer in the schools will rid us of the bland no-offense ecumenism that is so infuriating to us anticlericals: Oh, so now you say Jews didn't kill Christ - a little on the late side, isn't it? ~ Katha Pollitt
Boredom quotes by Katha Pollitt
She said: "I'm so sick of this joint."
"Why?"
"No freedom. I can't go out. I can't get drunk or gamble or wear swell clothes…"
"They look swell to me."
"Shut up, honey. I'm trying to tell you something. I like to dance. I like good restaurants and night clubs, and movies. Here all I'm supposed to do is think about God. It's getting me down."
"You don't like God?"
"I can take him or leave him."
I laughed. ~ Jonathan Latimer
Boredom quotes by Jonathan Latimer
Why should a man marry and have children, study and build a career; why should he invent new techniques, build new institutions, and develop new ideas--when he doubts if there will be a tomorrow which can guarantee the value of human effort?
Crucial here for nuclear man is the lack of a sense of continuity, which is so vital for a creative life. He finds himself part of a nonhistory in which only the sharp moment of the here and now is valuable. For nuclear man life easily becomes a bow whose string is broken and from which no arrow can fly. In his dislocated state he becomes paralyzed. His reactions are not anxiety and joy, which were so much a part of existential man, but apathy and boredom. ~ Henri J.M. Nouwen
Boredom quotes by Henri J.M. Nouwen
And yes, to answer you seriously, I am beginning to be ... well, not bored, but tempted; afraid, but tempted. When you've been in pain for a long time, when you wake up every morning with a rising sense of hysteria, then boredom is what you want, marathon sleeps, a silence in yourself. ~ Truman Capote
Boredom quotes by Truman Capote
There are children who will leave a game to go and be bored in a corner of the garret. How often have I wished for the attic of my boredom when the complications of life made me lose the very germ of freedom! ~ Gaston Bachelard
Boredom quotes by Gaston Bachelard
Boredom, Timothy Duane assured me, is nothing more than anger without passion. ~ Isabel Allende
Boredom quotes by Isabel Allende
Some of the freckles I once loved are now closer to liver spots. But it's still the eyes we look at, isn't it? That's where we found the other person, and find them still. ~ Julian Barnes
Boredom quotes by Julian Barnes
It is present in moments of rejoicing, when all the things around us are transfigured and seem to be there for the first time ... The question is upon us in boredom, when we are equally removed from despair and joy, and everything about us seems so hopelessly commonplace that we no longer care whether anything is or is not. ~ Jim Holt
Boredom quotes by Jim Holt
How strange was the relation between parents and children! When they were small the parents doted on them, passed through agonies of apprehension at each childish ailment, and the children clung to their parents with love and adoration; a few years passed, the children grew up, and persons not of their kin were more important to their happiness than father or mother. Indifference displaced the blind and instinctive love of the past. Their meetings were a source of boredom and irritation. Distracted once at the thought of a month's separation they were able now to look forward with equanimity to being parted for years. ~ W. Somerset Maugham
Boredom quotes by W. Somerset Maugham
I also believe that introversion is my greatest strength. I have such a strong inner life that I'm never bored and only occasionally lonely. No matter what mayhem is happening around me, I know I can always turn inward. ~ Susan Cain
Boredom quotes by Susan Cain
A consequence of boredom is that a man is forced to look either to the future or the past, or sideways into his imagination. ~ Mark Lawrence
Boredom quotes by Mark Lawrence
You ought not to be ashamed of being bored. What you ought to be ashamed of is being boring. ~ Lord Hailsham
Boredom quotes by Lord Hailsham
Boredom can be a lethal thing on a small island. ~ Christopher Moore
Boredom quotes by Christopher Moore
The Romans were not wiped out by the invasions of the barbarians, nor by the Christian virus, but by a more subtle evil, boredom. ~ Emil M. Cioran
Boredom quotes by Emil M. Cioran
People who have nothing to do are quickly tired of their own company. ~ Jeremy Collier
Boredom quotes by Jeremy Collier
A quarter of America is a dramatic, tense, violent country, exploding with contradictions, full of brutal, physiological vitality, and that is the America that I have really loved and love. But a good half of it is a country of boredom, emptiness, monotony, brainless production, and brainless consumption, and this is the American inferno. ~ Italo Calvino
Boredom quotes by Italo Calvino
When I was a child, I wanted to watch things that made me laugh. It's attacking boredom, as simple as that. I was 19 when I first went to a comedy club - I wanted to do it, so I gave it a try and that was it. I found my office. ~ Dylan Moran
Boredom quotes by Dylan Moran
Boredom is the laboratory where new enthusiasms prepare themselves, ~ Steven Heighton
Boredom quotes by Steven Heighton
We must help men and women see the epic in the ordinary details of life. ~ Matt Chandler
Boredom quotes by Matt Chandler
The Dantean conceptions of Inferno were childish and unworthy of the divine imagination: fire and torture. Boredom is much more subtle. The inner torture of a mind unable to escape itself in any way, condemned to fester in its own exuding mental pus for all time, is much more fitting. ~ Isaac Asimov
Boredom quotes by Isaac Asimov
Lewis Mumford was not a planner, but he wrote eloquently of planning. It was a difficult task. Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention. ~ Richard White
Boredom quotes by Richard White
When bored of sitting, move! When bored of moving, sit! Balance your life or there will remain neither moving nor sitting in your life but only falling! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Boredom quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
Necessity is the mother of invention but boredom is the mother of doing bafflingly stupid shit. ~ Jenny Lawson
Boredom quotes by Jenny Lawson
Thinking about happy times on a Tuesday is like going to the beach when there is no sun. ~ Alain Bremond-Torrent
Boredom quotes by Alain Bremond-Torrent
The mixture of the grotesque and the tragic is agreeable to the spirit, as are discords to the jaded ear. ~ Charles Baudelaire
Boredom quotes by Charles Baudelaire
Motherhood brings as much joy as ever, but it still brings boredom, exhaustion, and sorrow too. Nothing else ever will make you as happy or as sad, as proud or as tired, for nothing is quite as hard as helping a person develop his own individuality especially while you struggle to keep your own. ~ Marguerite Kelly
Boredom quotes by Marguerite Kelly
Boredom was my bedmate and it was hogging the sheets. ~ Andrew Davidson
Boredom quotes by Andrew Davidson
Diversion consoles us - in trivial ways - in the face of our miseries or perplexities; yet, paradoxically, it becomes the worst of our miseries becuase it hinders us from ruminating on and understanding our true condition. Thus, Pascal warns, it 'leads us imperceptibly to destruction.' Why? If not for diversion, we would 'be bored, and boredom would drive us to seek some more solid means of escape, but diversion passes our time and brings us imperceptibly to our death.' Through the course of protracted stupefaction, we learn to become oblivious to our eventual oblivion. In so doing, we choke off the possibility of seeking real freedom. ~ Douglas Groothuis
Boredom quotes by Douglas Groothuis
Our age has become so mechanical that this has also affected our recreation. People have gotten used to sitting down and watching a movie, a ball game, a television set. It may be good once in a while, but it certainly is not good all the time. Our own faculties, our imagination, our memory, the ability to do things with our mind and our hands–they need to be exercised. If we become too passive, we get dissatisfied. ~ Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Boredom quotes by Maria Augusta Von Trapp
All around, everywhere you look, is dullness and uncertainty. Even something born of beauty soon leads to boredom and banality, commonplace, the human ritual, the tedious rhythm of life. ~ Andrzej Sapkowski
Boredom quotes by Andrzej Sapkowski
Boredom is a lack of crazy. Its a lack of creativity. Invention. Innovation. If you're bored, blame yourself. ~ Katelyn S. Bolds
Boredom quotes by Katelyn S. Bolds
What if we choose not to do the things we are supposed to do? The principal gain is a sense of an authentic act – and an authentic life. It may be a short one, but it is an authentic one, and that's a lot better than those short lives full of boredom. The principal loss is security. Another is respect from the community. But you gain the respect of another community, the one that is worth having the respect of. ~ Stanley Keleman
Boredom quotes by Stanley Keleman
In the darkest corner of a darkened room, all Sherlock Homes stories begin. In the pregnant dim of gaslight and smoke, Holmes would sit, digesting the day's papers, puffing on his long pipe, injecting himself with cocaine. He would pop smoke rings into the gloom, waiting for something, anything, to pierce into the belly of his study and release the promise of adventure; of clues to interpret; of, at last he would plead, a puzzle he could not solve. And after each story he would return here, into the dark room, and die day by day of boredom. The darkness of his study was his cage, but also the womb of his genius. ~ Graham Moore
Boredom quotes by Graham Moore
Every magician knows there is no such thing as magic. They are masters of making things possible out of a situation that seems impossible. The key to getting what you want in life is to know that the only reason why something is, is because it was made possible. It can only be if it is possible for it to be. Make it possible and let it be. ~ Timothy Simpson
Boredom quotes by Timothy Simpson
She would not tell him the truth for some weeks, but she would eventually confess that she had left with him because the fear had gone out of her daily leaps. Her hours were filled with confident, minor feats and toothless dangers. She would not call it such, but Adam would later name it for her: it was boredom that had driven her from her mother's side and a secure home. ~ Josiah Bancroft
Boredom quotes by Josiah Bancroft
She was comfortable enough that she was beginning to suffer from the most chronic condition of slavery - boredom. ~ Patricia Briggs
Boredom quotes by Patricia Briggs
Boredom comes from a boring mind. - "THE STRUGGLE WITHIN," Metallica ~ Anonymous
Boredom quotes by Anonymous
Back at the Chateau Windsor there was a rat-like scratching at the door of my room. Vinod, the youngest servant, came in with a soda water. He placed it next to the bag of toffees. Then he watched me read. I was used to being observed reading. Sometimes the room would fill like a railway station at rush hour and I would be expected to cure widespread boredom. ~ Tahir Shah
Boredom quotes by Tahir Shah
Consciously or subconsciously, we all strive for chaos in life. No one is content living happily ever after. There is boredom in that. ~ Rajesh`
Boredom quotes by Rajesh`
Boredom is a terrible affliction of the soulless. ~ Laini Taylor
Boredom quotes by Laini Taylor
I have no tolerance for boredom. I spend so many hours in the office, and I still love it. ~ Francisco Costa
Boredom quotes by Francisco Costa
We try to 'self-medicate' ourselves against boredom with mobile phones in any given moment of free time. ~ Alex Bogusky
Boredom quotes by Alex Bogusky
You're probably thinking the same thing we were: where did Jane get the rope to tie the prisoners? We researched this very conundrum thoroughly, and after two weeks we can say, without a doubt : nobody knows. It's a question that has baffled historians and archaeologists alike. Professor Herbert Halprin explains: "Ropes have been a mystery to scholars throughout the ages. The first ropes were thought to appear as far back as 17,000 BC and made of vines. Unfortunately, being made of vines, none of those early examples survived. Later, da Vinci drew sketches for a rope-making machine, but it was never built. In medieval times, there were secret societies, called Rope Guilds, whose rope-twisting practices were protected via a complicated series of handshakes and passwords -" Okay. Your narrators are interrupting the dear professor, for reasons of boredom. Plus, his English accent sounded sketchy and forced. We asked him where Jane could've gotten the rope, but maybe he thought we asked him where anyone could've gotten any rope at any given point in history. Trust us, we are as frustrated as you must be about the lack of a definitive answer. ~ Cynthia Hand
Boredom quotes by Cynthia Hand
Leadership expert Michael Hyatt reflected on Karnazes's life and drew three conclusions about why we should embrace discomfort: 1. Comfort is overrated. It doesn't lead to happiness. It makes us lazy - and forgetful. It often leads to self-absorption, boredom, and discontent. 2. Discomfort can be a catalyst for growth. It makes us yearn for something more. It forces us to change, stretch, and adapt. 3. Discomfort is often a sign we're making progress. You've heard the expression, "no pain, no gain." It's true! When you push yourself to grow, you will experience discomfort.2 ~ Samuel Chand
Boredom quotes by Samuel Chand
I deal with long blank stretches of empty boredom by laying on my bed, staring at the ceiling, imagining situations in which I might die. Apparently, Sherlock deals with it by microwaving shoes. ~ Eva Morgan
Boredom quotes by Eva Morgan
Feeling bored is a childish attitude.
You wouldn't feel so if you don't rely
on somebody to change your feeling. ~ Toba Beta
Boredom quotes by Toba Beta
He awoke each morning with familiar shapes at the edges of his vision, could feel memories nearby, but by the time breakfast came, they were already fading. By dinner, they were lost. It left Troy with a sadness, a cold sensation, and a feeling like a hollow stomach
different from hunger
like rainy days as a child when he didn't know how to fill his time. It was the pain of a chronic boredom mixed with the discomfort of time wasted. ~ Hugh Howey
Boredom quotes by Hugh Howey
What if there was something essentially wrong with Claude Sylvanshine that wasn't wrong with other people? What if he was simple ill-suited, the way some people are born without limbs or certain organs? The neurology of failure. What if he was simply born and destined to live in the shadow of Total Fear and Despair, and all his so-called activities were pathetic attempts to distract him from the inevitable? ~ David Foster Wallace
Boredom quotes by David Foster Wallace
Things
changing, failing apart, fading, another year, a few more
moves, a hard person who doesn't give a fuck, a boredom so
monumental it humbles, arrangements so fleeting made by
people you don't even know that it requires you to lose any
sense of reality you might have once acquired, expectations
so unreasonable you become superstitious about ever
matching them. ~ Bret Easton Ellis
Boredom quotes by Bret Easton Ellis
Risking your own life in order to entertain others is the height of stupidity. ~ Mokokoma Mokhonoana
Boredom quotes by Mokokoma Mokhonoana
Most people, he muses, they're trying to escape from boredom, but I'm trying to get into the thick of boredom. ~ Haruki Murakami
Boredom quotes by Haruki Murakami
Rain's pouring and it's too cold.
All people bored and I even accord
What to do but spell a tale told:
So once upon a time a land in the shore... ~ Ana Claudia Antunes
Boredom quotes by Ana Claudia Antunes
Jessica walked away from Aaron and Ken, flashing them both a big smile. They were both very attractive – she had dated each of them a number of times. In fact, not too long ago she had contemplated falling in love with Ken for lack of anything better to do. ~ Francine Pascal
Boredom quotes by Francine Pascal
What books didn't influence me? If only someone would ask that! I've been waiting for years to answer it. Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand, I will say, had absolutely no influence on me except to cause hours of incredulous boredom. ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
Boredom quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
Hope you got your things together.'" I sang, stabbing a pillow with my spear. Feathers exploded into the air. "'Hope you are quite prepared to die!'" I spun in a dazzling whirl of lights, landed a killer back-kick on a phantom Shade, and simultaneously punched the magazine rack. "'Looks like we're in for nasty weather!'" I took a swan dive at a short, imaginary Shade, lunged up at a taller one -
- and froze.
Barrons stood inside the front door, dripping cool-world elegance.
I hadn't heard him come in over the music. He was leaning, shoulder against the wall, arms folded, watching me.
"'One eye is taken for an eye . . .'" I trailed off, deflating. I didn't need a mirror to know how stupid I looked. I regarded him sourly for a moment, then moved for the sound dock to turn it off. When I heard a choked sound behind me I spun, and shot him a hostile glare. He wore his usual expression of arrogance and boredom. I resumed my path for the sound dock, and heard it again. This time when I turned back, the corners of his mouth were twitching. I stared at him until they stopped.
I'd reached the sound dock, and just turned it off, when he exploded.
I whirled. "I didn't look that funny," I snapped.
His shoulders shook.
"Oh, come on! Stop it!"
He cleared his throat and stopped laughing. Then his gaze took a quick dart upward, fixed on my blazing MacHalo, and he lost it again. I don't know, maybe it was the brackets sticking out from the sides. ~ Karen Marie Moning
Boredom quotes by Karen Marie Moning
People these days can't seem to tolerate one moment without entertainment! ~ Samuel A. Aykroyd
Boredom quotes by Samuel A. Aykroyd
On the coming of evening, I return to my house and enter my study; and at the door I take off the day's clothing, covered with mud and dust, and put on garments regal and courtly; and reclothed appropriately, I enter the ancient courts of ancient men, where, received by them with affection, I feed on that food which only is mine and which I was born for, where I am not ashamed to speak with them and to ask them the reason for their actions; and they in their kindness answer me; and for four hours of time I do not feel boredom, I forget every trouble, I do not dread poverty, I am not frightened by death; entirely I give myself over to them. ~ Anonymous
Boredom quotes by Anonymous
We might even purposely create time for boredom on a summer day, so they have to go to the garage and see what interesting fun they can have with a pulley, some rope, and a roll of duct tape. ~ Daniel J. Siegel
Boredom quotes by Daniel J. Siegel
He exhaled in disgust. "High school is boredom punctuated by humiliation. ~ Katie Kennedy
Boredom quotes by Katie Kennedy
She, who was bored almost to agony, and who had nothing at all to do, she had not time to think even, seriously, of anything. Time being, after all, only the current of the soul in its flow. ~ D.H. Lawrence
Boredom quotes by D.H. Lawrence
If I love order, it's not the mark of a character subjected to an inner discipline, a repression of the instincts. In me the idea of an absolutely regular world, symmetrical and methodical, is associated with that first impulse and burgeoning of nature.
The rest of your images that associate passion with disorder, love with intemperate overflow - river fire whirlpool volcano - are for me memories of nothingness and listlessness and boredom. ~ Italo Calvino
Boredom quotes by Italo Calvino
Being an executive doesn't require very developed frontal lobes, but rather a combination of charisma, a capacity to sustain boredom, and the ability to shallowly perform on harrowing schedules. ~ Nicholas Nassim Taleb
Boredom quotes by Nicholas Nassim Taleb
She recognized the panic at even a moment's boredom that all these piles contained, as well as the unreasonable hopefulness regarding time. ~ Lorrie Moore
