It's interesting to talk to Bernie [Sanders] about his life and growing up, you know, growing up in an immigrant neighborhood in Brooklyn. His mother died at a very early age. He was young then. And, you know, I think that experience really shaped him. ~ Tad Devine
Devine quotes by Tad Devine
In a way, it's nice to know that there are Greek gods out there, because you have somebody to blame when things go wrong. For instance, when you're walking away from a bus that's just been attacked by monster hags and blown up by lightning, and it's raining on top of everything else, most people might think that's just really bad luck; when you're a half-blood, you understand that some devine force is really trying to mess up your day. ~ Rick Riordan
Devine quotes by Rick Riordan
Tea. There is nothing saner than tea, he thought ... Tea was the great leveler. It brought calm, quiet, contentment, warmth. And it was something to do.
... Tea
so normal, so mundane, so hot ...
... The heat and scent of it permeated his head and cleared his mind. He understood completely the attraction of ceremonies grounded in the ritual of drinking tea.
It required both caution and abandonment of the senses. It demanded that you move into it slowly and savor the moment. And it rewarded you with warmth and delicacy of taste and refreshment.
And after you were done, it could parse out your future. ~ Thea Devine
Devine quotes by Thea Devine
You are speaking of something sacred, something holy. Love is patient and kind. It does not envy or boast. It casts out pride, selfishness and anger. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres and never fails. ~ Carol Devine
Devine quotes by Carol Devine
it doesn't take rocket science to realize your devine purpose ~ Thabiso Monkoe
Devine quotes by Thabiso Monkoe
My favorite sequels are basically all Mike Myers films - 'Wayne's World 2,' 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,' 'Shrek 2.' Anything he does, it's best the second time around. He needs to do 'So I Married an Axe Murderer 2.' ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
I'm such a huge 'Arrested Development' fan. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Let go into His arms untill you find yourself obsessed with things devine ~ John Crowder

I still haven't found the humor in getting hit by a cement truck. My knees still hurt when I think about it, so no jokes about that yet. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
People see a lot of huge stuff on Broadway, but there's always Off-Broadway energy and also shows that you can work in. ~ Loretta Devine
Devine quotes by Loretta Devine
You only live once, for a very short time. So make every second devine. ~ Mitch Lucker
Devine quotes by Mitch Lucker
I think making friends is not being afraid to look stupid, because everyone wants a friend who is willing to be stupid and fun. If you try and be too cool, it only works in high school. After that, being uncool is a very cool thing to do. So just have fun, and don't worry what other people think of you and people will want to be your friends. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Poppy Devine did not deserve cancer. Poppy was sweet and industrious and careful and measured and always, always did the right thing. If anyone deserved cancer it was Julia. Julia was loud and opinionated and disagreeable. Rude, some might even say. She went out with bad men, took unnecessary risks, pushed people to their limits, swore like a sailor and flipped the bird more than any female in the history of the world.
It should be her number coming up in the cancer lottery. ~ Amy Andrews
Devine quotes by Amy Andrews
I love T. D. Jakes' quote, "Woman, thou art loosed! ~ Denise Devine
Devine quotes by Denise Devine
Acknowledgment--being seen and heard and witnessed inside the truth about one's own life--is the only real medicine of grief. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
When teaching children with autism we must be quick to adapt, follow our instinct and go off plan. ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
There are etiquette things that actors, new actors, need to know about. Because it only takes one mess-up on a set to get fired. Not being where you're supposed to be or saying something to the wrong person that you're not supposed to say, and those are like basic things that the actors need to know. ~ Loretta Devine
Devine quotes by Loretta Devine
When you try to take someone's pain away from them, you don't make it better. You just tell them it's not OK to talk about their pain. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
I could have coached better. ~ Dan Devine
Devine quotes by Dan Devine
The habit of knowledge
is not human but devine. ~ Heraclitus
Devine quotes by Heraclitus
I'm not a good rapper. For whatever reason, my brain does not work that way. I just do the beginning, like, 'Yeah, yeah! Ha ha! Woo! What up? Come on! Get at me!' I'm Captain Hook. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Even as a kid, I was a businessman. I figured out that if you plucked all the berries off my neighbor's tree and smashed them up, they made a Nickelodeon Gak-type consistency. I sold them to all the neighborhood kids and made stacks of quarters. Of course, the berries were poisonous, and I got in all types of trouble. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
As far as stand-ups go, I always loved Richard Pryor, Chris Rock, and Sinbad. Basically, I love black comedians because they're the funniest. I wish I were a black comedian, actually. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
If you like standup and decide that it's overtaking your life and want to hate it, watch 1,000 standup comedians who are trying to get on a TV show. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
My mother - neither one of my parents went to college. My mother, after her four children had grown up, went back and got her high school equivalency degree at night, at Central High School in Providence, became a teacher's aide. ~ Tad Devine
Devine quotes by Tad Devine
You must remember there is a set up from above at all times, someone is born for a purpose in this world and no one can changed. Moses was born to deliver his people from Egypt although he thought he was not good enough to do the job. David was born deliver his people from the giant called Goliath and Nelson Mandela was also born to deliver his nation from the apartheid regime. Our existence really matter in this world. ~ Euginia Herlihy
Devine quotes by Euginia Herlihy
Grief is not an enlightenment program for a select few. No one needs intense, life-changing, loss to become whoever they are "meant" to be. The universe is not causal in that way: you need to become something, so life gives you this horrible experience in order to make it happen. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
Mark Spitz had met plenty of the divine-retribution folks over the months. This was their moment; they were umbrella salesmen standing outside a subway entrance in a downpour. The human race deserved the plague, we brought it on ourselves for poisoning the planet, for the Death of God, the calculated brutalities of the global economic system, for driving primordial species to extinction: the entire collapse of values as evidenced by everything from nuclear fission to reality television to alternate side of the street parking. Mark Spitz could only endure these harangues for a minute or two before he split. It was boring. The plague was the plague. You were wearing galoshes, or you weren't. ~ Colson Whitehead
Devine quotes by Colson Whitehead
People want to be friends with someone who likes to have a good time. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
I sold steaks over the phone in Omaha, Nebraska. Marbling, fantastic. That's what makes a great steak; a lot of people don't know. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
That's another piece of advice: Don't go to college; follow your dreams. Unless you're a doctor - then go to college. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Our visuals must represent the truth and decode the verbal jumble so these children can find the right direction. ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
Teachers should not fear going off plan if a better learning opportunity presents itself. Plans are plans, but children are living, breathing, creative people, who deserve to have their questions answered and original ideas explored. ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
I loved Adam Sandler's early stuff. I thought it was so cool how irreverent and weird he would get. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Resilience, thy name is Devine. ~ Lori Lansens
Devine quotes by Lori Lansens
Children with autism are constantly testing and pursuing truth. They are a bundle of contradictions. They love order and routine, yet often have the most amazingly inventive and creative minds. They may appear to follow rules, but are also the most likely people to come up with a revolutionary new idea. They feel emotion intensly, but often seem to struggle to read facial expressions. ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
Only as a man surrenders himself to Devine Love may he hope for salvation, and salvation is open to all who surrender themselves ~ Dante Alighieri
Devine quotes by Dante Alighieri
Every loss is valid. And every loss is not the same. You can't flatten the landscape of grief and say that everything is equal. It isn't. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
I had long since managed a degree of detachment when dealing with photographs from homicide cases. They no longer upset me as they once did, although I make it a point not to dwell on them. By the time I stood in Shirley Lewis's office, I had seen thousands of body pictures. I had seen pictures of Kathy Devine and Brenda Baker in Thurston County, but that was months before it was known there was a "Ted." Of course, there were no bodies to photograph in the other Washington cases, and I had had no access to Colorado or Utah pictures. Now, I was staring down at huge color photographs of the damage done to girls young enough to be my daughters - at pictures of damage alleged to be the handiwork of a man I thought I knew. That man who only minutes before had smiled the same old grin at me, and shrugged as if to say, "I have no part of this." It hit me with a terrible sickening wave. I ran to the ladies' room and threw up. ~ Ann Rule
Devine quotes by Ann Rule
You think I'll succumb after a ten second kiss?"

The man had an ego of an elephant. She measured the knowing curve of his smile, the infuriating glint in his eyes and knew she could stand anything for ten seconds. All she had to do was clamp her jaw and she'd win. Victory was at hand.

"Okay, Masterson. You're on. ~ Carol Devine
Devine quotes by Carol Devine
Not everyone deserves to hear your grief. Not everyone is capable of hearing it. Just because someone is thoughtful enough to ask doesn't mean you are obliged to answer. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
She didn't hate him. Not really. But if she gave him the time of day, he'd take the whole year, too. ~ Ronie Kendig
Devine quotes by Ronie Kendig
Jealousy is the worst trait in any person. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
[W]hen Galileo discovered he could use the tools of mathematics and mechanics to understand the motion of celestial bodies, he felt, in the words of one imminent researcher, that he had learned the language in which God recreated the universe. Today we are learning the language in which God created life. We are gaining ever more awe for the complexity, the beauty, the wonder of God's most devine and sacred gift. ~ William J. Clinton
Devine quotes by William J. Clinton
I sang the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium - at a baseball game - which was crazy; there was, like, 60,000 people there, which is a huge deal in America - singing the National Anthem. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
In an article offering a law enforcement perspective on allegations of ritual abuse, Lanning (1992, A law-enforcement perspective on allegations of ritual abuse) fails to give a precise definition of the term. Although he is quoted as having conducted a seven-year study FBI study that gives evidence that ritual abuse does not exist, when Noblitt and Perskin (2000, Cult and ritual abuse) requested a copy of his study from the FBI, "the bureau responded in writing that no such study existed." (p. 179). ~ David A. Sakheim, Susan E. Devine
Devine quotes by David A. Sakheim, Susan E. Devine
We [me and friends] like to have surprising stories, but the dynamic and the friendship is the same. When you go out with your crew of friends and you get into trouble, at the end of the night when you come home, you're still the same crew of friends. It's just the story that you have to tell. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Naked dudes are inherently funny. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Teachers should be made aware of visual stress symptoms and the potential difference coloured lights, overlays and lenses could make to a learners perception. ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
By all rights I should be dead. No by all wrongs I should be dead. All I wanted was the world. I didn't know it would cost so much to get it. ~ Carroll Devine
Devine quotes by Carroll Devine
Adapting our own perception, following rather than leading and building bridges are all keys to helping the child with autism learn. ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
A well-known writer said writing is like getting sick to your stomach. You throw up and clean up afterward. ~ Maija Rhee Devine
Devine quotes by Maija Rhee Devine
By simply stating the truth, we open conversations about grief, which are really conversations about love. We start to love one another better. We begin to overhaul the falsely redemptive storyline that has us, as a culture and as individuals, insist that there's a happy ending everywhere if only we look hard enough. We stop blaming each other for our pain, and instead, work together to change what can be changed, and withstand what can't be fixed. We get more comfortable with hearing the truth, even when the truth breaks our hearts. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
My senior year of high school, I got into UCLA, but my family couldn't afford it. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
My parents are very cool and wildly supportive - maybe almost too much. I want to tell them to chill out. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
What then did those immortals see, the writers who aimed at all which is greatest and scorned the accuracy which lies in every detail? They saw many other things and they also saw this, that Nature determined man to be no low or ignoble animal; but introducing us into life and this entire universe as into some vast assemblage, to be spectators, in a sort, of her entirety, and most ardent competitors, did then implant in our souls an invincible and eternal love of that which is great and, by our own standard, more devine. Therefore it is, that for the speculation and thought which are within the scope of human endeavour not all the universe together is sufficient, our conceptions often pass beyond the bounds which limit it; and if a man were to look upon life all around, and see how in all things the extraordinary, the great, the beautiful stand supreme, he will at once know for what ends we have been born. ~ Longinus
Devine quotes by Longinus
When telemarketers call me now, I won't get the blow-horn. I'm more polite than the average person. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
If you can't tell your story to another human, find another way: journal, paint, make your grief into a graphic novel with a very dark storyline. Or go out to the woods and tell the trees. It is an immense relief to be able to tell your story without someone trying to fix it. The trees will not ask, "How are you really?" and the wind doesn't care if you cry. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
Consider the following dialogue between an instructor (A) and two of his students (B, C)
A. What happened in the senate
1
on the Ides of March 44 B.C.?
B. Napoleon stabbed Mrs Thatcher.
C. Brutus did stab Caesar. In the senate it happened. It was Cassius that stabbed him. ~ A.M. Devine
Devine quotes by A.M. Devine
A girl's life was defined by lines: fine lines, hairlines, bikini lines, class lines, the tightrope line between being a good girl and a slut. But there was always a moment when the lines blurred and a good girl had to decide whether to toe the line, cross the line, or stay safe behind the line that guarded her virtue. ~ Thea Devine
Devine quotes by Thea Devine
All those encouragements from others about having so much to live for, that there's still goodness to come in your life --- they feel irrelevant. They kind of are irrelevant. You can't cheerlead yourself out of the depths of grief. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
In a world now so obsessed with speed, we teachers must step back and learn to wait. ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
Any individual or society that fails to honor or provide the opportunity for women to fully exert their power can never truly prosper. All creativity, growth, imagination, nurturing - All possibilities are born within the female womb of the Devine Feminine. To deny Her a rightful place, either within ourselves or in the world in which we live, is to do irreparable harm and endure the loss of countless joys. ~ Rod Stryker
Devine quotes by Rod Stryker
We know that children with autism like order, that they are often very visual and that they can be quite literal. They deserve beautiful resources and symbols that make sense. If a picture does not explain visually, it is pointless and the child will stop looking to the pictures for information. ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
I always wanted to be a comedic actor - that's what I wanted from the job - to do comedy and to create my own comedy. But I still love doing stand-up and will probably be doing it forever. I'd love to be an old guy who can't really walk, can't really stand-up, and I have to sit on the stool and tell jokes. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Could some of the challenging behaviours that often partner autism begin as experiements on measuring human reactions? Are these children exploring boundaries - seeing what makes the toy squeak or the adult shriek? ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
I tend to have a lot of jokes about ex-girlfriends. They always ask me if they will be the subject of a joke, and I always tell them they won't. Unless they do something crazy. They all tend to, so you know where that goes. There are no closed doors. The 'art' will suffer. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Whatever Happens To You Is Planned By Me Cause, I'm The MASTERMIND ... ~ Muhammad Imran Hasan
Devine quotes by Muhammad Imran Hasan
Meditation goes in. Prayer goes out. But they both aim for the same place of union between you and the devine. ~ Lisa Jones
Devine quotes by Lisa Jones
To write is human, to receive a letter: Devine! ~ Susan Lendroth
Devine quotes by Susan Lendroth
And the dreams of the devine will be captured in time, by our own reflections on paper."

Isaac Oosterloo. 2014 ~ Isaac Oosterloo
Devine quotes by Isaac Oosterloo
Are we allowing individuals to develop their talents with our current teaching methods? Is there more or maybe less we should be doing? ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
There's not one thing that inspires me the most. Me and my friends joke around with each other and hang out so much that whatever makes us laugh really hard makes it into 'Workaholics.' But the characters that I think are funny are guys that are confidently stupid. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
What happened to me is I gained a little weight so I could be more accessible to people. They're not like, 'Oh my God, he's, like, a male model comedian; yuck, ugh.' It's like, 'Oh, he's a little squishy; He's like me. He's accessible.' And girls are like, 'Look how cuddly he is. I just want to cuddle up in his neck fat and go to sleep.' ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Faith does not protect you. Medicine and airbags ... Those are the things that protect you. God does not protect you. Intelligence protects you. Enlightenment. Put your faith in something with tangible results. How long has it been since someone walked on water? Modern miracles belong to science.. Computers, vaccines, space stations ... Even the devine miracle of creation. Matter from nothing ... In a lab. Who needs God? No! Science is God! ~ Dan Brown
Devine quotes by Dan Brown
Tears, idle tears, I know not what they mean, Tears from the depths of some devine despair Rise in the heart, and gather to the eyes, In looking on the happy autumn fields, And thinking of the days that are no more. ~ Alfred Lord Tennyson
Devine quotes by Alfred Lord Tennyson
We need to talk about the hierarchy of grief. You hear it all the time - no grief is worse than any other. I don't think that's one bit true. There is a hierarchy of grief. Divorce is not the same as the death of a partner. Death of a grandparent is not
the same as the death of a child. Losing your job is not the same as losing a limb.

Here's the thing: every loss is valid. And every loss is not the same. You can't flatten the landscape of grief and say that
everything is equal. It isn't.

It's easier to see when we take it out of the intensely personal: stubbing your toe hurts. It totally hurts. For a moment, the pain can be all-consuming. You might even hobble for a while. Having your foot ripped off by a passing
freight train hurts, too. Differently. The pain lasts longer. The injury needs recovery time, which may be uncertain or complicated. It affects and impacts your life moving forward. You can't go back to the life you had before you became a
one-footed person. No one would say these two injuries are exactly the same. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
My aim is to sort the jumble of information we throw at these children and present it in such a way that they will have a greater chance of achieving independence and fulfilment. ~ Adele Devine
Devine quotes by Adele Devine
I don't want any competition; I've finally made it! I don't want any young bucks knocking me off and taking my job, so stay in school! Stay in school and get a nice job working in an office! ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
I did telemarketing for years, starting at the age of 16, just selling steak knives to old people. Old people go through a weird amount of steak knives. I also sold straight meat over the telephone. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
A funny thing is that you can't search me on Twitter because Adam Levine dominates there. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Be yourself. I had this three-week period where I wore this straw fedora. I thought it was what chicks wanted. And then it dawned on me that I was trying to be something that I wasn't, so I took the fedora off. So be yourself. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
When someone you love dies, you don't just lose them in the present or in the past. You lose the future you should have had, and might have had, with them. They are missing from all the life that was to be. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
The fact that a person loves one particular person is what is important; the life lesson, whether you are homosexual or heterosexual, is that you not be promiscuous, and true to one person. ~ Loretta Devine
Devine quotes by Loretta Devine
Some things in life cannot be fixed. They can only be carried. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
For movies, I usually do an entire book that has all kinds of things about what is happening at the time the movie is going on and try to get into what my character's going to be like, to try to get some consistency, because they shoot movies out of order. ~ Loretta Devine
Devine quotes by Loretta Devine
Oft have I heard both youths and virgins say,
Birds chuse their mates and couple too this day:
But by their flight I never can devine
When I shall couple with my valentine. ~ Robert Herrick
Devine quotes by Robert Herrick
We need to know how to live here, where life as we know it can change, forever at anytime. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
We've got this idea that there are only two options in grief: you're either going to be stuck in your pain, doomed to spend the rest of your life rocking in a corner in your basement wearing sackcloth, or you're going to triumph over grief, be transformed, and come back even better than you were before.
Just two options. On, off. Eternally broken or completely healed.
It doesn't seem to matter that nothing else in life is like that. Somehow when it comes to grief, the entire breadth of human experience goes out the window. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
I tried out for my basketball team every year and I never made it. You had to buy the shoes before you knew if you were on the team because it took a few weeks for them to ship. I bought the shoes every year, never once made the team, had a ton of high school basketball shoes. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
Things like "Everything happens for a reason" and "You'll become a stronger/kinder/more compassionate person because of this" brings out rage in grieving people. Nothing makes a person angrier than when they know they're being insulted but can't figure out how.
It's not just erasing your current pain that makes words of comfort land so badly. There's a hidden subtext in those statements about becoming a better, kinder, and more compassionate because of your loss, that often-used phrase about knowing what's "truly important in life" now that you've learned how quickly life can change.
The unspoken second half of the sentence in this case says you needed this somehow. It says that you weren't aware of what was important in life before this happened. It says that you weren't kind, compassionate, or aware enough in your life before this happened. That you needed this experience in order to develop or grow, that you needed this lesson in order to step into your "true path" in life.
As though loss and hardship were the only ways to grow as a human being. As though pain were the only doorway to a better, deeper life, the only way to be truly compassionate and kind. ~ Megan Devine
Devine quotes by Megan Devine
Hot girls have so many options. Sitting at home alone any night of the week and searching the Internet for a dude is on zero hot girls' agendas. So they're definitely not coming after you. ~ Adam DeVine
Devine quotes by Adam DeVine
I like Louis C.K., Chris Rock. Old schools like Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy. ~ Adam DeVine

I'm going to be the next head coach at Notre Dame. ~ Dan Devine
