I first heard the term "meta-novel" at a writer's conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The idea is that even though each book in a series stands alone, when read collectively they form one big ongoing novel about the main character. Each book represents its own arc: in book one of the series we meet the character and establish a meta-goal that will carry him through further books, in book two that meta-goal is tested, in book three - you get the picture. ~ Carolyn Wheat
Book Three quotes by Carolyn Wheat
Listen you have to read a book three times before you know it. ~ Sherman Alexie
Book Three quotes by Sherman Alexie
To see someone hurt, to really understand that, is the same as being hurt
yourself. To see someone happy is the the same as being happy. To feel love, the
same as feeling loved. To see someone die, the same as dying. We're one. We're
built that way. It's in our bones." ~Carlton from TimeTripper Book three:
Blindsighted by Stefan Petrucha ~ Stefan Petrucha
Book Three quotes by Stefan Petrucha
I turned on my heel and left the building. With only £4.76 in the bank, and my subscription to 'Men Only' due, things were looking bleak. Seeing that Keith Moore had apparently purloined Sting's money, though at this time, he had not been yet convicted of the offence, it seemed to me that he was a better bet for a loan than Sting was. ~ James Berryman
Book Three quotes by James Berryman
Listen," he said one afternoon in the library. "You have to read a book three times before you know it. The first time you read it for the story. The plot. The movement from scene to scene that gives the book its momentum, its rhythm. It's like riding a raft down a river. You're just paying attention to the currents. Do you understand that?"
"Not at all," I said.
"Yes, you do," he said.
"Okay, I do," I said. I really didn't, but Gordy believed in me. He wouldn't let me give up.
The second time you read a book, you read it for its history, its knowledge of history. ~ Sherman Alexie
Book Three quotes by Sherman Alexie
Although I now call him 'Sting' to his face, I can still distinguish 'Sting' from 'Gordon Sumner'. ~ James Berryman
Book Three quotes by James Berryman
In the Book of Poetry there are three hundred poems, but the meaning of all of them may be put in a single sentence: Have no debasing thoughts. ~ Confucius
Book Three quotes by Confucius
King Yorandt to Kristina in book three of Fracture the Secret Enemy Saga~Secrets
release date: Summer 2014

Even the master does not play perfectly. He can only hope to make fewer mistakes than his opponent, and that in the end, he is the victor. Sajah (chess) is a ruthless game where the pieces are all pawns and the Queen is the true killer.
She spares no one to protect the king. The king however, is ruled by all of the pieces that lay before him, even his opponent. Every move is a decision that can change the whole board, and the endgame. ~ Virginia McKevitt
Book Three quotes by Virginia McKevitt
She imagined him leaning against the shuttle, entertaining thoughts of scolding her for dressing like a ragged commoner. Never mind that her present outfit was light years ahead in comfort.

(Actually, he's wishing he had been less critical of you earlier. He feels bad that you won't acknowledge his presence, and he blames himself.)

(Quit it, Ian. I'm not going to feel sorry for him.)

She caught her protector's shrewd grin, highlighted by the fire's glow. (You already do, Queenie.)

(This talent of yours is really annoying.)

He leaned close to her ear and whispered, "That's not what you thought earlier when you wanted to get ahold of Efren."

"One tiny rosebud in a handful of thorns," she retorted. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Book Three quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
Regarding R. H. Blyth: The first book in English based on the saijiki is R. H. Blyth's Haiku, published in four volumes from 1949 to 1952. After the first, background volume, the remaining three consist of a collection of Japanese haiku with translations, all organized by season, and within the seasons by traditional categories and about three hundred seasonal topics. ~ Reginald Horace Blyth
Book Three quotes by Reginald Horace Blyth
Unfortunately, I know that some of you Hushlanders have trouble counting to three. (The Librarian- controlled schools don't want you to be able to manage complex mathematics.) So I've prepared this helpful guide.

Definition of "book one": The best place to start a series. You can identify "book one" by the fact that it has a little "1" on the spine. Smedrys do a happy dance when you read book one first. Entropy shakes its angry fist at you for being clever enough to organize the world.

Definition of "book two": The book you read after book one. If you start with book two, I will make fun of you. (Okay, so I'll make fun of you either way. But honestly, do you want to give me more ammunition?)

Definition of "book three": The worst place, currently, to start a series. If you start here, I will throw things at you.

Definition of "book four": And . . . how'd you manage to start with that one? I haven't even written it yet. (You sneaky time travelers.) ~ Brandon Sanderson
Book Three quotes by Brandon Sanderson
Cal's attraction to her was unstoppable - undeniable. Like a thunderbolt piercing his heart, it beat only for her and had since the first time he saw her.

Book Three quotes by Nini Church
It has long been my boast that I can read or eat anything. But unfortunately, although I eat like a Hoover, I read so slowly that I am always on the smart book three years after everyone else has finished. ~ Katharine Whitehorn
Book Three quotes by Katharine Whitehorn
The beginning of Book Three is the last one that I drew, where V's conducting the 1812 overture. ~ David Lloyd
Book Three quotes by David Lloyd
Fifty years from now I'll be just three inches of type in a record book. ~ Brooks Robinson
Book Three quotes by Brooks Robinson
I've done everything I've wanted to do. I have three children, I have grandchildren, I have books, I did movies, I've directed movies, I've done almost everything I've wanted to do. ~ Carl Reiner
Book Three quotes by Carl Reiner
I eat out three times a day most days of the year. This is no big deal to most New Yorkers, and it is not something I am necessarily proud of - it's simply the nature of my itinerant life. ~ Ben Elliot
Book Three quotes by Ben Elliot
You ever talk about a movie with someone that read the book? They're always so condescending. 'Ah, the book was much better than the movie.' Oh really? What I enjoyed about the movie: no reading. ~ Jim Gaffigan
Book Three quotes by Jim Gaffigan
Each dog barks in its own yard. ~ Rudyard Kipling
Book Three quotes by Rudyard Kipling
In Buddhism, the word "emptiness" is a translation of the Sanskrit sunyata. It means "empty of a separate self." It is not a negative or despairing term. It is a celebration of interconnectedness, of interbeing. It means nothing can exist by itself alone, that everything is inextricably interconnected with everything else. I know that I must always work to remember that I am empty of a separate self and full of the many wonders of this universe, including the generosity of my grandparents and parents, the many friends and teachers who have helped and supported me along the path, and you dear readers, without whom this book could not exist. We inter-are, and therefore we are empty of an identity that is separate from our interconnectedness. ~ Chan Khong
Book Three quotes by Chan Khong
I do mean this - I had the good fortune of being around a number of Alzheimer's patients in the last three years of my mother's life. She was in a care facility that was devoted to just people with memory-loss issues. I found those people engaging and generous in ways that I had not imagined. ~ James Rebhorn
Book Three quotes by James Rebhorn
I can find only three kinds of business in the universe: mine, yours and God's. Much of our stress comes from mentally living out of our business. When I think, "You need to get a job, I want you to be happy, you should be on time, you need to take better care of yourself," I am in your business. When I'm worried about earthquakes, floods, war, or when I will die, I am in God's business. If I am mentally in your business or in God's business, the effect is separation. ~ Byron Katie
Book Three quotes by Byron Katie
My first cut was three hours and 17 minutes. And then I just became very shrewd about the editing. ~ Mark Ruffalo
Book Three quotes by Mark Ruffalo
Medications can lower a woman's sex drive and interfere with a woman's ability to climax. These medications include antidepressants, birth control pills and hormone medications. I only know of three antidepressants that do not interfere with a woman's sexual function. ~ Drew Pinsky
Book Three quotes by Drew Pinsky
A recession doubles the necessity to be really focused on three or four tactics that can prove a return on investment. ~ David Gates
Book Three quotes by David Gates
One of the ways that a writer heals an invisible wound is through book therapy. ~ Angelica Hopes
Book Three quotes by Angelica Hopes
I always have two bracelets on my right arm. One is a purple and white bracelet from a fan. I love it! I also wear a bracelet from a waterpark- I've had it on for two or three years. My mom says it's pretty nasty, actually. But you'll never see me without them ever! In magazine photos, the bracelets are sometimes airbrushed out, but viewers will always see me wearing them during scenes. ~ Miley Cyrus
Book Three quotes by Miley Cyrus
The Battle of Gettysburg was fought in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in 18-something-or-nother. The year doesn't matter. They considered it the turning point of the war, and President Lincoln showed up to give his big speech. Who really cares what it was called? I don't. After it was all over and the North won, Congress passed the 13th amendment to free the slaves. It outlawed owning another person, yada, yada, yada, but it was a waste of time. All of it. Every bit. Completely pointless. All those people died and it didn't change anything, because it doesn't work if they don't enforce it. They just ignore it, turn their backs and say it's not their problem, but it is. It's everyone's problem. They can say slavery ended all they want, but that doesn't make it true. People lie. They'll tell you what they think you wanna hear, and you'll believe it. Whatever makes you feel better about your dismal little lives. So, whatever. Go on being naive. Believe what the history book tells you if you want. Believe what Mrs. Anderson wants me to tell you about it. Believe the land of the free, blah, blah, blah, star spangled banner bullshit. Believe there aren't any slaves anymore just because a tall guy in a big ass top hat and a bunch of politicians said so. But I won't believe it, because if I do too, we'll all fucking be wrong, and someone has to be right." -Carmine DeMarco ~ J.M. Darhower
Book Three quotes by J.M. Darhower
There are no dirty words in this book, except for 'hell' and 'God', in case someone is fearing that an innocent child might see 1 ... Perhaps the only precept taught me by Grandfather Wills that I have honoured all my adult life is that profanity and obsceny entitle people who don't want unpleasant information to close their eyes and ears to you. ~ Kurt Vonnegut
Book Three quotes by Kurt Vonnegut
Three conditions are necessary for Penance: contrition, which is sorrow for sin, together with a purpose of amendment; confession of sins without any omission; and satisfaction by means of good works. ~ Thomas Aquinas
Book Three quotes by Thomas Aquinas
Three of the four elements are shared by all creatures, but fire was a gift to humans alone. Smoking cigarettes is as intimate as we can become with fire without immediate excruciation. Every smoker is an embodiment of Prometheus, stealing fire from the gods and bringing it on back home. We smoke to capture the power of the sun, to pacify Hell, to identify with the primordial spark, to feed on them arrow of the volcano. It's not the tobacco we're after but the fire. When we smoke, we are performing a version of the fire dance, a ritual as ancient as lightning. ~ Tom Robbins
Book Three quotes by Tom Robbins
When I closed in "King Lear" I went into a period of depression for about three weeks, and every actor I've talked to who's ever played a major, major Shakespeare role has done this. ~ Frank Langella
Book Three quotes by Frank Langella
Better be wrong to a stranger than be wrong to your husband - Treacherous Desires Book ~ Kritika Sharma
Book Three quotes by Kritika Sharma
But Amanda ... " Jadina said, looking past Maylin at the young Fate. "She doesn't ask for anything. She doesn't even try to read the future, it's just there. She ends up blurting things out. Starts talking about the car accident you're going to have in three years, or your baby boy dying in child birth in a few months, or your grandmother's funeral next year. Thing's you can't change even if you know about them. Things you're happier not knowing about. People go through life, happily oblivious. If you start telling them all the horrible things that are coming, they get upset. When those horrible things start coming true, they get scared and blame you. They say you caused it. Label you witch. Even burn you at the stake. She's safer in there. ~ Crissy Moss
Book Three quotes by Crissy Moss
One old lady who wants her head lifted wouldn't be so bad, but you multiply her two hundred and fifty thousand times and what you get is a book club. ~ Flannery O'Connor
Book Three quotes by Flannery O'Connor
One of my most exciting Saturday nights was just me and a bottle of wine and a crochet book. ~ Jessica Pare
Book Three quotes by Jessica Pare
Truth isn't in accounts but in account-books. ~ Josephine Tey
Book Three quotes by Josephine Tey
Dr. Doemling, does he want to fuck her or kill her, or eat her, or what?' Mason asked, exhausting the possibilities he could see. 'Probably all three,' Dr. Doemling said. ~ Thomas Harris
Book Three quotes by Thomas Harris
I devoured each of what Halliday referred to as "The Holy Trilogies": Star Wars (original and prequel trilogies, in that order), Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Mad Max, Back to the Future, and Indiana Jones. (Halliday once said that he preferred to pretend the other Indiana Jones films, from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull onward, didn't exist. I tended to agree.)
I also absorbed the complete filmographies of each of his favorite directors. Cameron, Gilliam, Jackson, Fincher, Kubrick, Lucas, Spielberg, Del Toro, Tarantino. And, of course, Kevin Smith.
I spent three months studying every John Hughes teen movie and memorizing all the key lines of dialogue. ~ Ernest Cline
Book Three quotes by Ernest Cline
In 2009 i was nominated for the 'best dutch poetry debute' called 'the buddingh award'. It's supposed to be the most important debut price. However the event proved rather hallucinogenic. It started with my publisher expressing 'great surprise' that 'I still managed to get nominated'. The surprise was out of place, since my book simply got the best reviews of all books that year. I went to Poetry International and noticed only 2 of the 3 jury members where present, and the female one kept looking at me in sort of a guilty fashion. Then the award was granted to Misscha Andriessen, which was sort of weird since his book was not seen as universally the best by critics. 'Too lightweight' one review of an important critic read. Later on I read that jurymember Wim Brands one year prior to the price already made clear that 'he is a big fan of Mischa Andriessen'. I always assumed that they were friends somehow but this morning I solved the mystery: they are from the same little village, so it had nothing to do with poetry, just tribal culture at its best. Kind of a relief to know that. ~ Martijn Benders
Book Three quotes by Martijn Benders
My, how certain we mortals can be ... of things even angels do not know. ~ Gene Edwards A Tale Of Three Kings
Book Three quotes by Gene Edwards A Tale Of Three Kings
Efforts to silence the people who raised their voice – whether through violence, intimidation or the courts – meant that three decades after the Rushdie affair there was almost no one in Europe who would dare write a novel, compose a piece of music or even draw an image that might risk Muslim anger. Indeed, they ran in the other direction. Politicians and almost everybody else went out of their way to show how much they admired Islam. ~ Douglas Murray
Book Three quotes by Douglas Murray
I am but a dot in the larger book of the world. ~ Debby Feo
Book Three quotes by Debby Feo
Christian, you are the state lottery, the cure for cancer, and the three wishes from Aladdin's lamp all rolled into one ~ E.L. James
Book Three quotes by E.L. James
When you're reading, you're laughing and not quite noticing what's happening. One second you're still kind of chuckling, and then all of sudden you're in the third act of the book and in this very dark and claustrophobic place. ~ Moshe Kasher
Book Three quotes by Moshe Kasher
Greatness isn't a destination, it's a process. Anything outside your current reach and capacity is greatness. All you get to do is take the next step. Many people don't have a clue what they want or what their passion is. That's ok. This book will help you move as far down the path as you wish to go. But ~ Jonathan Heston
Book Three quotes by Jonathan Heston
On a book by Henry James: Once you put it down, you simply can't pick it up. ~ Mark Twain
Book Three quotes by Mark Twain
I'm not sure whether I've been happy. After my last book tour, I sat on my balcony with a cup of tea. I thought: 'You can't rewind the movie. I've spent more than half my life in the Middle East. There have been great moments of horror and depression and loneliness.' ~ Robert Fisk
Book Three quotes by Robert Fisk
Back in the day, I used to read 'Archie,' but I haven't been a comic book aficionado. ~ Danai Gurira
Book Three quotes by Danai Gurira
He couldn't imagine using the word 'rewarding' about a work of art - for instance that such and such a book has given me so much, taught me so much, etc etc. - but thought solely that it enlightened him, made him see, cynically and withough false expectations, so that he felt he was alive. ~ Dag Solstad
Book Three quotes by Dag Solstad
Tell me my copy is missing the last twenty pages or something.
Hazel Grace, tell me I have not reached the end of this book.
OH MY GOD DO THEY GET MARRIED OR NOT OH MY GOD WHAT IS THIS?! ~ John Green

Books tap the wisdom of our species
the greatest minds, the best teachers
from all over the world and from all our history. And they're patient. ~ Carl Sagan
Book Three quotes by Carl Sagan
The Greek word euphuia, a finely tempered nature, gives exactly the notion of perfection as culture brings us to perceive it; a harmonious perfection, a perfection in which the characters of beauty and intelligence are both present, which unites "the two noblest of things"
as Swift ... most happily calls them in his Battle of the Books, "the two noblest of things, sweetness and light. ~ Matthew Arnold
Book Three quotes by Matthew Arnold
In 2004, I went onstage for the first time. They put a mike in my hand and pushed me out the door into the crowd. I did the three songs I had recorded and got out. It was the worst day of my life. ~ M.I.A.
Book Three quotes by M.I.A.
I always try to create conflict and drama in my books; it's the engine of the novel. ~ Monica Ali
Book Three quotes by Monica Ali
As she swam she gloried in the fact that there was nowhere to be, nothing to do, no one to worry about. No jazz pickup or karate drop-off, no homework to supervise, no birthday gifts to buy, no doctors' appointments to book; the endless multitude of teeny-tiny details that made up her life. Each obligation on its own seemed laughably easy. It was the sheer volume that threatened to bury her. ~ Liane Moriarty
Book Three quotes by Liane Moriarty
A room without books is like a life without meaning. ~ Thomas Jefferson
Book Three quotes by Thomas Jefferson
If I was writing a lifestyle book it would have the same advice on every page, and you'd know it all already. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables, and live your whole life in every way as well as you can: exercise regularly as part of your daily routine, avoid obesity, don't drink too much, don't smoke, and don't get distracted from the real, basic, simple causes of ill health. But as we will see, even these things are hard to do on your own, and in reality require wholesale social and political changes. ~ Ben Goldacre
Book Three quotes by Ben Goldacre
You kiss by th' book. ~ William Shakespeare
Book Three quotes by William Shakespeare
All good books are different but all bad books are exactly the same. I know this to be a fact because in my line of work I read a lot of bad books - books so bad they aren't even published, which is quite a feat, when you consider what is published.
And what they all have in common, these bad books, be they novels or memoirs, is this: they don't ring true. I'm not saying that a good book is true necessarily, just that it feels true for the time you're reading it. ~ Robert Harris
Book Three quotes by Robert Harris
Thus they in mutual accusation spent
The fruitless hours, but neither self - condemning;
And of their vain contest' appeared no end.
(The closing lines of Book Nine, which illuminates The Fall.) ~ John Milton
Book Three quotes by John Milton
A value-added step in a process is defined by three characteristics. First, the step must be something that the customer is willing to pay for. Second, the step must directly change the form, fit, or function of something to produce a product or service. The final characteristic of a value-added step is that it is so important that it must be done right every time to successfully produce the intended product or service. ~ Robert E. Hamm Jr.
