Augusta counted herself among those fortunate souls on the planet whose passion had become their profession. Music was as necessary to her as breathing, and it filled all of her days, and helping young singers understand how to make their voices soar fulfilled her as nothing else could. ~ Susan Moore Jordan
Augusta quotes by Susan Moore Jordan
Making life changing decisions are never easy but are a very important part of life. Some people will not like your decision and some may even get emotionally hurt. Ultimately it all comes back to what decisions are best for you. Remember this is "Your" life in which God gave you. So seek unbiased advice and not yes men, nor people attempting to influence your decision based on their motives. I heard a pastor once say " God did not call you to be unhappy to make others happy" you are not responsible for others happiness, but you are responsible for your own happiness -Live out your Dreams- ~ Augusta DeJuan Hathaway
Augusta quotes by Augusta DeJuan Hathaway
Augusta is a very unique golf course. It's a long hitters' course; main reason is because the greens are so severe, and the areas where they put the pin is such a small area. The little plateaus and undulations mean it's incredibly important to be close to that pin so you can be aggressive. ~ Fred Funk
Augusta quotes by Fred Funk

Augusta quotes by Lady Augusta Gregory
Well, I think that Augusta is not the same golf course that I grew up on. Bobby Jones' philosophy was giving you space off the tee; if you put it in the right side of the fairway, you ended up getting the right angle to the green. ~ Jack Nicklaus
Augusta quotes by Jack Nicklaus

Augusta quotes by A.K. Hasan
Our age has become so mechanical that this has also affected our recreation. People have gotten used to sitting down and watching a movie, a ball game, a television set. It may be good once in a while, but it certainly is not good all the time. Our own faculties, our imagination, our memory, the ability to do things with our mind and our hands–they need to be exercised. If we become too passive, we get dissatisfied. ~ Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Augusta quotes by Maria Augusta Von Trapp
All things change, creeds and philosophies and outward systems - but God remains. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward

Augusta quotes by William Butler Yeats
Ben Hogan was not really a big hitter. He was long enough. But Ben Hogan today? Ben Hogan today could not compete at Augusta because he did not have the massive length to compete against the long hitters. Power was always an issue at Augusta, but never so dominant that you couldn't play it. ~ Jack Nicklaus
Augusta quotes by Jack Nicklaus

Augusta quotes by Augusta Jane Evans
I learned to read from Mrs. Augusta Baker, the children's librarian ... If that was the only good deed that lady ever did in her life, may she rest in peace. Because that deed saved my life, if not sooner, then later, when sometimes the only thing I had to hold on to was knowing I could read. ~ Audre Lorde
Augusta quotes by Audre Lorde
Meanwhile, blacks observed how German prisoners housed at Camp Gordon were getting paid to work the grounds of the Augusta National Golf Club, and to pick peanuts, corn, and potatoes across the Savannah River. "They sing and whistle, seem to enjoy work," enthused the Augusta Chronicle. "Farmers are delighted." Such news stories left a bitter taste in the mouths of black Augustans, who felt the government was doing more for the enemy than it was willing to do for them. ~ RJ Smith
Augusta quotes by RJ Smith
Augusta National is a young man's golf course, and you really need a young man's nerves to play on it. ~ Jack Nicklaus
Augusta quotes by Jack Nicklaus
For nine years, till the spring of 1881, we lived in Oxford, in a little house north of the Parks, in what was then the newest quarter of the University town. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
Every great religion is, in truth, a concentration of great ideas, capable, as all ideas are, of infinite expansion and adaptation. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
'All we can see is the surface. But there's so much more we can't see beneath. I bet it's as big as the world down there, underneath the water. There could be anything down there. Things we can't even imagine. How can we understand anything if we can see so little of it?' ~ Augusta Li
Augusta quotes by Augusta Li

Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
City of rest! - as it seems to our modern senses, - how is it possible that so busy, so pitiless and covetous a life as history shows us, should have gone to the making and the fashioning of Venice! ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
The Masters is one of golf's greatest traditions and Augusta is one of the best courses in the world. They are synonymous. It's an event that every golfer, and golf fan, looks forward to. ~ Mike Weir
Augusta quotes by Mike Weir
I talk slicker than a pimp from Augusta who just had his linen suit dry-cleaned ~ Drake
Augusta quotes by Drake
The most striking difference between little ones and grownups is that little ones cannot worry, and they cannot worry because they have no past and no future. They live only in the present moment. Just watch children. If they play, they play and don't even hear us call them and don't notice anything that is going on around them. If they eat, they eat; if they sleep, they sleep. There is a beautiful English word which describes how they do whatever they do, they do it 'whole-heartedly', whereas grownups always are half-hearted. ~ Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Augusta quotes by Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Have dinner with me tonight."
Augusta blinked, mind blank. Then said, "The five-second rule applies here. You can take the invite back and we can pretend you never asked."
He scowled and repeated, "Have dinner with me. ~ Ann Bruce

Augusta quotes by Augusta Li
LADY BRACKNELL. May I ask if it is in this house that your invalid friend Mr. Bunbury resides?

ALGERNON. [Stammering.] Oh! No! Bunbury doesn't live here. Bunbury is somewhere else at present. In fact, Bunbury is dead,

LADY BRACKNELL. Dead! When did Mr. Bunbury die? His death must have been extremely sudden.

ALGERNON. [Airily.] Oh! I killed Bunbury this afternoon. I mean poor Bunbury died this afternoon.

LADY BRACKNELL. What did he die of?

ALGERNON. Bunbury? Oh, he was quite exploded.

LADY BRACKNELL. Exploded! Was he the victim of a revolutionary outrage? I was not aware that Mr. Bunbury was interested in social legislation. If so, he is well punished for his morbidity.

ALGERNON. My dear Aunt Augusta, I mean he was found out! The doctors found out that Bunbury could not live, that is what I mean - so Bunbury died.

LADY BRACKNELL. He seems to have had great confidence in the opinion of his physicians. I am glad, however, that he made up his mind at the last to some definite course of action, and acted under proper medical advice. And now that we have finally got rid of this Mr. Bunbury, may I ask, Mr. Worthing, who is that young person whose hand my nephew Algernon is now holding in what seems to me a peculiarly unnecessary manner? ~ Oscar Wilde
Augusta quotes by Oscar Wilde
What is the usual reaction among our friends and neighbors if in a family something unexpected happens? ... Telephone and [email] are immediately put to work ... and the incident is discussed for days on end. It is no wonder there is no time left in which to ponder on what it might mean, what message God might want to bring home to us by permitting this or that to happen in our lives ... 'To ponder' is an all-but-forgotten art in our days. Who thinks? We don't need to anymore. The TV and [internet] do it for us. ~ Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Augusta quotes by Maria Augusta Von Trapp
For the rest of the afternoon, Miss Bloom smiled almost as bright as the big yellow sun shining through the front picture window. Her library was filled up with people who loved books. ~ Augusta Scattergood
Augusta quotes by Augusta Scattergood

A modern girls' school, equipped as scores are now equipped throughout the country, was of course not to be found in 1858, when I first became a school boarder, or in 1867, when I ceased to be one. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
There is nothing more startling in human relations that the strong emotion of weak people. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
If you go to Atlanta, the first question people ask you is, "What's your business?" In Macon they ask, "Where do you go to church?" In Augusta they ask your grandmother's maiden name. But in Savannah the first question people ask you is "What would you like to drink? ~ John Berendt
Augusta quotes by John Berendt

Augusta quotes by Oscar Wilde
There isn't a hole out there [Augusta] that can't be birdied if you just think. But there isn't one that can't be double-bogeyed if you stop thinking. ~ Bobby Jones
Augusta quotes by Bobby Jones
Let us give thanks to God above,
Thanks for expressions of His love,
Seen in the book of nature, grand
Taught by His love on every hand.

Let us be thankful in our hearts,
Thankful for all the truth imparts,
For the religion of our Lord,
All that is taught us in His word.

Let us be thankful for a land,
That will for such religion stand;
One that protects it by the law,
One that before it stands in awe.

Thankful for all things let us be,
Though there be woes and misery;
Lessons they bring us for our good-
Later 'twill all be understood.

Thankful for peace o'er land and sea,
Thankful for signs of liberty,
Thankful for homes, for life and health,
Pleasure and plenty, fame and wealth.

Thankful for friends and loved ones, too,
Thankful for all things, good and true,
Thankful for harvest in the fall,
Thankful to Him who gave it all. ~ Lizelia Augusta Jenkins Moorer
Augusta quotes by Lizelia Augusta Jenkins Moorer
One may as well preach a respectable mythology as anything else. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
Children play at being great and wonderful people, at the ambitions they will put away for one reason or another before they grow into ordinary men and women. Mankind as a whole had a like dream once; everybody and nobody built up the dream bit by bit, and the ancient story-tellers are there to make us remember what mankind would have been like, had not fear and the failing will and the laws of nature tripped up its heels. The Fianna and their like are themselves so full of power, and they are set in a world so fluctuating and dream-like, that nothing can hold them from being all that the heart desires.
from a preface to
Gods and Fighting Men
by Lady Augusta Gregory ~ W.B.Yeats
Augusta quotes by W.B.Yeats
Then the creatures of the high air answered to the battle, foretelling the destruction that would be done that day; and the sea chattered of the losses, and the waves gave heavy shouts keening them, and the water-beasts roared to one another, and the rough hills creaked with the danger of the battle, and the woods trembled mourning the heroes, and the grey stones cried out at their deeds, and the wind sobbed telling them, and the earth shook, foretelling the slaughter; and the cries of the grey armies put a cloak over the sun, and the clouds were dark; and the hounds and the whelps and the crows, and the witches of the valley, and the powers of the air, and the wolves of the forests, howled from every quarter and on every side of the armies, urging them against one another. ~ Lady Augusta Gregory
Augusta quotes by Lady Augusta Gregory
It is the rank and file - the average woman - for whom the world has opened up so astonishingly. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
Cat limbs all over the floor, chewed to the bone." "Mew-Mew, Licorice!" Maripat cried. Tearfully, Augusta told them about Tiny grinning at the end of Augusta's bed, covered with blood. His little tongue hanging out, a demoniacal mask on his face, his fangs dripping with blood as he sprang for her throat just before she slammed the door shut. ~ Luanne Rice
Augusta quotes by Luanne Rice
Music- what a powerful instrument, what a mighty weapon! ~ Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Augusta quotes by Maria Augusta Von Trapp
To win at Augusta and to win The Open Championship at St. Andrews, it's hard to put it into words as a golfer, as an athlete, as a guy - I'm not rich in history, I can tell you that. I'm not a great historian. ~ Zach Johnson
Augusta quotes by Zach Johnson
We learned the shocking truth that "home" isn't necessarily a certain spot on earth. It must be a place where you can "feel" at home, which means "free" to us. ~ Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Augusta quotes by Maria Augusta Von Trapp

Augusta quotes by Oscar Wilde
I loved nearly all my teachers; but it was not till I went home to live at Oxford, in 1867, that I awoke intellectually to a hundred interests and influences that begin much earlier nowadays to affect any clever child. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
If we had to play Augusta National in one hour, the best athlete would win the Masters. But as it is, they give us time to hang ourselves. Every swing is a 'thought shot'. So instead of the best athlete, you end up with the best thinker as the winner. ~ Joe Inman
Augusta quotes by Joe Inman

Augusta quotes by Gary McCord

Augusta quotes by Lady Augusta Gregory
The old man looked at her. "In that case, why don't we just let it be? We have never seen anything like it before - an intelligence that was created, not born, a being from the Spell Realm - " "No." Augusta shook her head, everything inside her rejecting that idea. "We can't take that kind of risk. The thing needs to be destroyed now, before it has a chance to destroy us. ~ Dima Zales

For after my marriage I had made various attempts to write fiction. They were clearly failures. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
English girls' schools today providing the higher education are, so far as my knowledge goes, worthily representative of that astonishing rise in the intellectual standards of women which has taken place in the last half-century. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
The thoughts and opinions of one human being, if they are sincere, must always have an interest for some other human beings. The world is there to think about; and if we have lived, or are living, with any sort of energy, we must have thought about it, and about ourselves in relation to it - thought 'furiously' often. And it is out of the many 'thinkings' of many folk, strong or weak, dull or far-ranging, that thought itself grows. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
Gillie was grinning at the boy's indignant anger. He put a hand on the pages shoulder and looked coldly at Augusta. "Do you call my page a liar, old woman? And who are you to speak of this lady as your charge? My page is no liar, just as Thursey is not your charge. Not in any way. She is your landlord, for it is her inn you occupy. And it is to her you will answer for its keeping. She is beholden to no one, unless it would be the people of Gies in the same manner as I am - for she may be their princess soon. If she is willing," he added gently. ~ Shirley Rousseau Murphy
Augusta quotes by Shirley Rousseau Murphy
Listen. You will still only love me. And I will only love you. It's only that we'll have different names. Sometimes I'll be Augusta, queen of Gondal, and you'll be a dangerous highwayman. Sometimes we'll be Alexander and Zenobia, the young lovers. Sometimes… sometimes we will just be two lonely children roaming the moors together. But the 'he' of the story will always be you, and the 'she' of the story will always be me. Forever. ~ Lena Coakley
Augusta quotes by Lena Coakley
Are you a dreamer or a doer? Hopefully you are both because a dream with no action is just a dream and a plan with no ending goal is senseless direction. Follow and accomplish your dreams with a plan of action! ~ Augusta DeJuan Hathaway
Augusta quotes by Augusta DeJuan Hathaway
When I drive into Augusta and down Magnolia Lane, there's just a spirit and nostalgia about it that you experience nowhere else. Why? Because it's the same place every year. ~ Billy Casper
Augusta quotes by Billy Casper
She wore heavy sandals, with socks. No kid in the entire state of Mississippi wore black socks in the summer. Shoot, if I wasn't standing smack-dab in the middle of the library, I wouldn't be wearing shoes. ~ Augusta Scattergood
Augusta quotes by Augusta Scattergood
Love is an excellent thing and a very great blessing, indeed. It makes every difficulty easy. It bears a burden without being weighted, and renders sweet all that is bitter. Love knows no limits, feels no burden, thinks nothing of troubles, attempts more than it is able, because it believes that it may and can do all things; for this reason it is able to do all, performing much where he who does not love fails and falls. Love is watchful. Sleeping, it does not slumber. Like a living flame, a burning torch, it tends upward and passes unharmed through every obstacle. Whatever faults may be committed, big or small, whatever clouds may pile up on the horizon, dark and threatening, love will overcome all. ~ Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Augusta quotes by Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Praise is a great tonic, and helps most people to do their best. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
As far as intellectual training was concerned, my nine years from seven to sixteen were practically wasted. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
Learn the lesson of your own pain
learn to seek God, not in any single event of past history, but in your own soul
in the constant verifications of experience, in the life of Christian love. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
Torrens kicked at the door until it was finally opened. The farm couple and three youngsters had been eating breakfast in the common room. The yard dog would have bounded in had not Torrens kicked the door shut.

'I want a bed. Quilts. A hot drink. I am a doctor. This woman is my patient.'

The farm couple was terrified. The look on the face of Torrens cut short any questions. They did as he ordered. One of the children ran to fetch his medical kit from the cart. The woman motioned for Torrens to set Caroline on a straw pallet. The farmer kept his distance, but his wife, shyly, fearffully, ventured closer. She glanced at Torrens, as if requesting his permission to help. Between them, they made Caroline as comfortable as they could.

Torrens knelt by the pallet. Caroline reached for his hand. 'Leave while you can. Do not burden yourself with me.'

'A light burden.'

'I wish you to find Augusta.'

'You have my promise.'

'Take this.' Caroline had slipped off a gold ring set with diamonds. 'It was a wedding gift from the king. It has not left my finger since then. I give it to you now - ' Torrens protested, but Caroline went on - 'not as a keepsake. You and I have better keepsakes in our hearts. I wish you to sell it. You will need money, perhaps even more than this will bring. But you must stary alive and find my child. Help her as you have always helped me.'

'We shall talk of this later, when you ~ Lloyd Alexander
Augusta quotes by Lloyd Alexander

We enjoy the great prophets of literature most when we have not yet lived enough to realize all they tell us. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
I wanted to show how a man of sensitive and noble character, born for religion, comes to throw off the orthodoxies of his day and moment, and to go out into the wilderness where all is experiment, and spiritual life begins again. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
I have created nothing really beautiful, really lasting, but if I can inspire one of these youngsters to develop the talent I know they possess, then my monument will be in their work. ~ Augusta Savage
Augusta quotes by Augusta Savage
Truth has never been, can never be, contained in any one creed or system. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
I enjoy Augusta. I enjoy its challenges. There's no other golf course like this anywhere. Its greens and its challenges on and around the greens are just super, super tough. So the greens are fun to play in sort of a morbid way. ~ Ben Crenshaw
Augusta quotes by Ben Crenshaw
Don't look at me like that, Augusta." He stood to pull his shirt over his head. "I don't deserve it. No mortal could deserve such an expression. ~ Grace Burrowes
Augusta quotes by Grace Burrowes
Nothing ought to be told, I think that does not interest or kindle one's own mind in looking back; it is the only condition on which one can hope to interest or kindle other minds. ~ Mary Augusta Ward
Augusta quotes by Mary Augusta Ward
It will be very interesting one day to follow the pattern of our life as it is spread out like a beautiful tapestry. As long as we live here we see only the reverse side of the weaving, and very often the pattern, with its threads running wildly, doesn't seem to make sense. Some day, however, we shall understand.
In looking back over the years we can discover how a red thread goes through the pattern of our life: the Will of God. ~ Maria Augusta Von Trapp
Augusta quotes by Maria Augusta Von Trapp
I have never planned anything illegal in my life,' Aunt Augusta said. 'How could I plan anything of the kind when I have never read any of the laws and have no idea what they are? ~ Graham Greene
Augusta quotes by Graham Greene
Lady Bracknell. Good afternoon, dear Algernon, I hope you are behaving very well.
Algernon. I'm feeling very well, Aunt Augusta.
Lady Bracknell. That's not quite the same thing. In fact the two things rarely go together. ~ Oscar Wilde
Augusta quotes by Oscar Wilde
All things are dark to sorrow. ~ Augusta Jane Evans
Augusta quotes by Augusta Jane Evans
Switzerland is only bearable covered with snow," Aunt Augusta said, "like some people are only bearable under a sheet. ~ Graham Greene
Augusta quotes by Graham Greene
' Bout time you married someone and stopped tempting every man from here to the Blue Sea," Padera said, slurring the words through toothless gums. "You know, wars have started over women like you."
Moya scoffed. "You're so full of crap, old woman."
"Brin?" Padera called.
Brin tore her eyes away from the doorway. "Augusta of Melen, daughter of Chieftain Eisol, started the Battle of the Red River when she refused to marry Theo of Warric. When Theo's father was killed in the fight, Theo vowed vengeance and summoned all of Clan Warric to his banner. This resulted in what became known as the Ten Year War, which claimed the lives of a thousand men and instigated a famine that lasted two years. ~ Michael J. Sullivan
Augusta quotes by Michael J. Sullivan
From the time I can first recall the rain falling on the red clay in Florida. I wanted to make things. When my brothers and sisters were making mud pies, I would be making ducks and chickens with the mud. ~ Augusta Savage
Augusta quotes by Augusta Savage
If a man's innate self-respect will not save him from habitual, disgusting intoxication, all the female influences in the universe would not avail. Man's will, like woman's, is stronger than the affection, and, once subjugated by vice, all eternal influences will be futile. ~ Augusta Jane Evans
