Time was never neutral and often felt dangerous. We either think we have all the time in the world or time moves too fast or too slow, a shock can stop time; fear or impending pain can slow it. Time never simply is…And no matter how much you want to hang on to it, time runs out. ~ Katherine Reay
Time Runs quotes by Katherine Reay
Time runs and flows and only our death succeeds in catching up with it. Photography is a blade which, in eternity, impales the dazzling moment. ~ Henri Cartier-Bresson
Time Runs quotes by Henri Cartier-Bresson
How we remember changes how we have lived.
Time runs both ways. We make stories of our lives. ~ Guy Gavriel Kay
Time Runs quotes by Guy Gavriel Kay
Life is short, but I never thought my life would end this way. I have myself to blame for that. I saw all of the red flags, but I ignored them one at a time. Every time I ignored them, I was buying more time, I received more time, and I gambled with the time that I was given. It shows you that buying time is temporary because sooner or later time runs out."
~Love is respect ♥~ ~ Charlena E. Jackson
Time Runs quotes by Charlena E. Jackson
You will not be here
I shall not be here
much longer.'
'Let us not think of time.'
'We have reached Faust's non-plus. We say to every moment "Verweile doch, du bist so schön," and if we are not immediately damned, the stars move still, time runs, the clock will strike. But it is open to us to regret each minute as it passes.'
'We shall be exhausted.'
'And is not that a good state to end in? ~ A.S. Byatt
Time Runs quotes by A.S. Byatt
I would say she's in the place where the river of time runs into, where the holograms go when they disappear into the air, she is neither completely dreaming, nor fully awake, ~ Annie Fisher
Time Runs quotes by Annie Fisher
If I am a prolific writer and turn my hand, with what seems to some as indecent haste, from novels to screenplays to stage and radio plays, it is because there is so much to be said, so few of us to say it, and time runs out. ~ Fay Weldon
Time Runs quotes by Fay Weldon
Many people die with their music still in them. Too often it is because they are always getting ready to live. Before they know it time runs out. ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
Time Runs quotes by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
She was fifty-three years old and lonely and oppressed; why couldn't he let her have her illusions? That was what her wounded, half-drunken eyes had seemed to be saying throughout his interrogation: Why can't I have my illusions?
Because they're lies, he told her silently in his mind as he champed his jaws and swallowed the cheap food. Everything you say is a lie.(...) Everything you live by is a lie, and you want to know what the truth is?
He watched her with murderous distaste as she fumbled with her spoon. They had ordered ice cream, and some of it clung to her lips as she rolled a cold mouthful on her tongue.
Do you want to know what the truth is? The truth is that your fingernails are all broken and black because you're working as a laborer and God knows how we're ever going to get you out of that lens-grinding shop. The truth is that I'm a private in the infantry and I'm probably going to get my head blown off. The truth is, I don't really want to be sitting here at all, eating this goddam ice cream and letting you talk yourself drunk while all my time runs out. The truth is, I wish I'd taken my pass to Lynchburg today and gone to a whorehouse. That's the truth. ~ Richard Yates
Time Runs quotes by Richard Yates
I told you. Time moves differently for everyone; but for everyone, time runs out. Such is the way of things. To die here, at home, is enough for me. ~ Lanie Bross
Time Runs quotes by Lanie Bross
I'm living under water. Everything seems slow and far away. I know there's a world up there, a sunlit quick world where time runs like dry sand through an hourglass, but down here, where I am, air and sound and time and feeling are thick and dense. ~ Audrey Niffenegger
Time Runs quotes by Audrey Niffenegger
Time runs independently of us, and we cannot comprehend the flow of time. Time is a category in itself. ~ Eraldo Banovac
Time Runs quotes by Eraldo Banovac
Leaders should know how fast time runs and how faster they can beat it. Poor leaders run slowly till time overtakes them. ~ Israelmore Ayivor
Time Runs quotes by Israelmore Ayivor
We live today in a world in which nobody believes choices should have consequences. But may I tell you the great secret that our culture seeks to deny? You cannot escape the consequences of your choices. Time runs in only one direction. ~ Stephen L. Carter
Time Runs quotes by Stephen L. Carter
Every time you finish a book, you have a terrible feeling that there's just never going to be another one. But fortunately, so far, the next one has always shown up. ~ Salman Rushdie
Time Runs quotes by Salman Rushdie
We were only there for five days and during that time Tom was a bit annoyed that the French were more interested in me and my schoolgirl outfit than him and his long scarf. ~ Lalla Ward
Time Runs quotes by Lalla Ward
An author who integrates alien signs into the medial surface of his own texts - signs behind which we presume the existence of other powerful, submedial subjects "as authors" - does not increase the comprehensibility of that text. Yet nonetheless, he increases the magical effectiveness this text exudes. Such quotations lead us to presume that the text houses a dangerous, manipulative subject, a magician with enough power to manipulate the signs of other powerful magicians and able to use them strategically for his own purposes. Thus an author who quotes alien signs conveys a stronger impression of powerful authorship than one who ad- vocates precisely his so-called own ideas - which do not interest anybody precisely because they are only his own. It is also well known that one may not quote the same author too often, in which case quoting gradu- ally looses its magical power and begins to irritate the reader. The reason for this gradual decrease of a quote's magical effectiveness is that it looses its strangeness over time and gets integrated into the medial surface of a text, thereby becoming a proper part of it. In order to maintain their magical effect, quotes have to be exchanged constantly so as to continue to maintain the same appearance of foreignness and freshness. The quote functions as a magical fetish that lends the entire text a hidden, submedial power beyond its superficial meaning. ~ Boris Groys
Time Runs quotes by Boris Groys
I love you."
The words come out almost in a panic, as if there's no time. As if he's about to walk into Eden again, and I've got to say it before he disappears behind the door.
"I love you too."
Jimmy' response startles me back to the room, the tobacco tin forgotten in my hand. I close it and set it on the counter, afraid of whatever drug it is inside that has me hallucinating.
"I must be losing my mind," I say, shaking my head. "I thought I just heard you say that you loved me."
"I did," Jimmy replies.
"You did?"
"Of course. You said it to me first. It woulda been rude to leave ya hangin' there, wouldn't it? ~ Ryan Winfield
Time Runs quotes by Ryan Winfield
You couldn't handle being me." She swirled her forefingers around her head and admitted, "All that goes on inside this head at any given time ... would destroy you. ~ Shelly Laurenston
Time Runs quotes by Shelly Laurenston
The lawyers' contribution to the civilizing of humanity is evidenced in the capacity of lawyers to argue furiously in the courtroom, then sit down as friends over a drink or dinner. This habit is often interpreted by the layman as a mark of their ultimate corruption. In my opinion, it is their greatest moral achievement: It is a characteristic of humane tolerance that is most desperately needed at the present time. ~ John Silber
Time Runs quotes by John Silber
You don't say "Maybe I should go to bed early tonight" or do any of that stuff. It's almost like you know you're alone and you have to get through it by whatever means - distracting yourself. Because, the more alone time the worse, you know? ~ Ladyhawke
Time Runs quotes by Ladyhawke
There are two medicines for all ills: time and silence. ~ Alexandre Dumas
Time Runs quotes by Alexandre Dumas
I waited, Rachel. I waited until you were old enough. I wasted my time looking for girls who came even remotely close to looking like you." His hand brushed through my hair as he studied it. "Long legs. Long, straight, near-black hair. Eyes the exact color of sapphires." A heavy sigh left him and his forehead creased. "But none of them were you. None of them had your temper; none of them had your fire for life. So none of them deserved to have your beauty." "Like Jenn." I realized it with dread and watched his face twist with a look of disgust. "Everything I've done up until this point has been for you and our future together. I only wish," he said against my lips, "that you would stop being so goddamn difficult. ~ Molly McAdams
Time Runs quotes by Molly McAdams
Old books, yes! They are the true comforters; and principally because they are old and familiar. Many excellent new tales and poems and dramas are added yearly to the catalogues, and and some of these in time will stand beside the great companions under discussion; but only Time (and you and I and all other lovers of good books) will bring about their survival. ~ Vincent Starrett
Time Runs quotes by Vincent Starrett
We must expect everything and fear everything from time and from men. ~ Luc De Clapiers
Time Runs quotes by Luc De Clapiers
Once you understand that the false needs time and what needs time is false, you are nearer the Reality, which is timeless, ever in the NOW. ~ Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
Time Runs quotes by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
This is the thing: people think that magic doesn't exist, but it does, all the time. We use spells every day: the spell of forgiveness, the spell of thanks. ~ Nick Lake
Time Runs quotes by Nick Lake
Jace, you
don't have to - "
"I was trying to go…somewhere," Jace said. "But I kept getting pulled back here. I couldn't stop walking, couldn't stop thinking.
About the first time I ever saw you, and how after that I couldn't forget you. I wanted to, but I couldn't stop myself. I forced
Hodge to let me be the one who came to find you and bring you back to the Institute. And even back then, in that stupid coffee
shop, when I saw you sitting on that couch with Simon, even then that felt wrong to me - I should have been the one sitting with
you. The one who made you laugh like that. I couldn't get rid of that feeling. That it should have been me. And the more I knew
you, the more I felt it - it had never been like that for me before. I'd always wanted a girl and then gotten to know her and not
wanted her anymore, but with you the feeling just got stronger and stronger until that night when you showed up at Renwick's and I
knew.
"And then to find out that the reason I felt like that - like you were some part of me I'd lost and never even knew I was missing
until I saw you again - that the reason was that you were my sister, it felt like some sort of cosmic joke. Like God was spitting on
me. I don't even know for what - for thinking that I could actually get to have you, that I would deserve something like that, to be
that happy. I couldn't imagine what it was I'd done that I was being punished for - "
"If you're ~ Cassandra Clare
Time Runs quotes by Cassandra Clare
When it comes to love, time is nothing more than a socially induced marker of validity. When you simply know, time becomes irrelevant. ~ Lindsay J. Pryor
Time Runs quotes by Lindsay J. Pryor
President Obama and his radical feminist enforcers have had it in for Catholic medical providers from the get-go. It's about time all people of faith fought back against this unprecedented encroachment on religious liberty. First, they came for the Catholics. Who's next? ~ Michelle Malkin
Time Runs quotes by Michelle Malkin
Modesty becomes blameworthy if it prevents one from denouncing what clearly should be denounced, such as tyranny or corruption. This form of modesty results in meekness at a time when one needs to be forthright and courageous. Something condemnable (munkar) is condemnable regardless of the status of the person who is engaged in it - whether he or she is a close relative or a person of status, wealth, or authority. There must be agreement, however, among scholars on what is condemnable. One cannot, for example, declare decisively that something is considered condemnable if there is a difference of opinion on it among the scholars. Scholars knowledgeable of the plentitude of juristic differences rarely condemn others. They refrain from such condemnation not because of modesty but because of their extensive knowledge and scholarly insight. Unfortunately, many people today are swift to condemn, which creates another disease: self-righteousness. ~ Hamza Yusuf
Time Runs quotes by Hamza Yusuf
The library was magical because every time I walked through the door, there were literally thousands of voices ready and willing to have a conversation with me. I walked through the door, stared at all those stacks and bindings, and whispered, Tell me a story. ~ Charles Martin
Time Runs quotes by Charles Martin
But every smile on your face
seems to replace
A memory I'd rather not hold
Each time you laugh, it fills a
void
Each kiss heals another wound
in my soul ~ Colleen Hoover
Time Runs quotes by Colleen Hoover
Things don't so much end as disappear. They don't so much begin as turn up. You think there will be a time to say goodbye, but people have often gone before you know about it. And I don't just mean the dying. ~ Rachel Joyce
Time Runs quotes by Rachel Joyce
What's wrong with actors?"
"They quote poetry. A girl has to be crazy to believe one," I told him. "It's far too easy for an actor to give you a good line."
"You're quick to judge."
"No," I argued. "I've had experience with theater types. After a while they can't tell real from unreal. They believe their own creation of themselves and can't understand why everyone else isn't convinced they're wonderful."
He jumped down from the limb, then stared up at me, his eyes sparking with anger. "It's efficient, I guess, judging an individual by a group. You don't waste any time trying to know somebody."
But I don't want to know you! I thought as I watched Mike walk away. I can't risk knowing you. ~ Elizabeth Chandler
Time Runs quotes by Elizabeth Chandler
The Constitution which at any time exists, 'till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole People is sacredly obligatory upon all. ~ George Washington
Time Runs quotes by George Washington
The reins of our life are in the hands of the future. Man always lives today in the hope of tomorrow. And likewise he will live tomorrow in the hope of the day after, because when tomorrow comes, it will come as today. So he never lives really, he goes on postponing living for the future.
And he will never live as long as he lives on hope for the future. His whole life will pass away unlived and unfulfilled. At the time of his death he will say with great remorse, "All my life I only desired to live, but I could not really live." He had wasted all his todays in the hope of a tomorrow that never came. And on the last day of his life he faces a cul-de-sac beyond which there is no tomorrow, and no hope of any fruits of action. That is the despair of a future-oriented life. ~ Osho
Time Runs quotes by Osho
We're shaking up a format, which I think is always a good thing. The thing about [2011 Oscar hosts] James [Franco] and Anne [Hathaway] is, they've both hosted Saturday Night Live, and they both did a good job at it. So they are accustomed to working with short rehearsal time, and live, lots of pressure, rewrites, things like that. They can make quick changes, which is very advantageous, and they're skilled comedians. ~ Bruce Vilanch
Time Runs quotes by Bruce Vilanch
I am not good at first or second impressions, and you have to spend some time with me to know me. Also, I don't want to put my best foot forward and prove something, as that is not me. I would rather be me and have you like me for who I am, instead of being someone else. ~ Emraan Hashmi
Time Runs quotes by Emraan Hashmi
Last time you called me late at night you were naked and chained to your shower curtain rod. I hope this isn't going to be disappointing. ~ Janet Evanovich
Time Runs quotes by Janet Evanovich
She emerges from the station directly across from the restaurant. And she's right on time. Like magic, Sonya thinks, briefly saddened to realize that this is what magic means now: not being late, not getting lost on the subway. Whatever happened to the fairy godmothers, to all those bunnies yanked out of hats? ~ Francine Prose
Time Runs quotes by Francine Prose
Maybe you can bring that up at the next fan club meeting too."
"Hey! I don't even know what you're talking about, okay? I hear things when I'm on my travels. I don't even care about stuff like that." I cared so hard. I had actually gone three times to the fan club meeting. They knew me as Mervin. I had a backstory and everything. It was my turn to bring muffins next time. I was considering poppy seed. Or cranberry. Fun. ~ T.J. Klune
Time Runs quotes by T.J. Klune
Love is unbounded by time ~ Sarah Ruhl
Time Runs quotes by Sarah Ruhl
You might think you're connecting with your friends on Facebook but when was the last time you went out with your friends and asked them how they were doing? When was the last time you called them and prayed with them and really had a conversation? Go ahead and do those things (with social media). I get it. I really do. But if you're lacking the other things, that's when it's out of balance and you're not really connected. ~ Jeremy Camp
Time Runs quotes by Jeremy Camp
I agree with the Speaker and have concluded that my other activities do not permit me to devote the time that membership of the Lords properly requires. ~ Michael Ashcroft
Time Runs quotes by Michael Ashcroft
The 1920s was a great time for reading altogether - very possibly the peak decade for reading in American life. Soon it would be overtaken by the passive distractions of radio, but for the moment reading remained most people's principal method for filling idle time. ~ Bill Bryson
Time Runs quotes by Bill Bryson
I love heels. I remember the first time I saw a pair of heels my mum said: 'You're not wearing those. They're too high!' ~ Dionne Bromfield
Time Runs quotes by Dionne Bromfield
I write 3-4 days a week, 4-5 hours at a time (with lots of breaks). My goal is 2000 words when I sit down to write and usually, I hit that, though it can take anywhere from 3-7 hours to get there. I usually know the basics of where the story is going, but the specifics just sort of come to me as I write. ~ Nicholas Sparks
Time Runs quotes by Nicholas Sparks
I was walking along one day and smacked into this wall called hope deferred and depression and...grief.
And it wouldn't budge.
After some time, I realized this darkness I'd found myself in was called grief.
I'd been through so much trauma, everything about me- including my body, emotions and soul, was shutting down and going into preservation mode.
I entered a season where the battle caught up with me and I realized just how badly I'd been beaten and torn up, inside and out. ~ Ashley Nikole
Time Runs quotes by Ashley Nikole
When we participate in what the crowd identifies as normal, even if it is stupid, we gain acceptance into the club. Sometimes we don't even realize what we are doing is stupid because we have been taught that it's just "the way you do it", and so we never ask why. As we participate in the myth, we learn to spout the principles of the myth. After the years go by and we have invested more money and time into the myth, we become great disciples and can preach the points of the myth with great fervor and volume. We become such experts on the myth that we can sell others on joining the lie. I once joined the lie, but no more. ~ Dave Ramsey
Time Runs quotes by Dave Ramsey
The story of liberalism, as liberals tell it, is rather like the legend of St. George and the dragon. After many centuries of hopelessness and superstition, St. George, in the guise of Rationality, appeared in the world somewhere about the sixteenth century. The first dragons upon whom he turned his lance were those of despotic kingship and religious intolerance. These battles won, he rested for a time, until such questions as slavery, or prison conditions, or the state of the poor, began to command his attention. During the nineteenth century, his lance was never still, prodding this way and that against the inert scaliness of privilege, vested interest, or patrician insolence. But, unlike St. George, he did not know when to retire. The more he succeeded, the more he became bewitched with the thought of a world free of dragons, and the less capable he became of ever returning to private life. He needed his dragons. He could only live by fighting for causes - the people, the poor, the exploited, the colonially oppressed, the underprivileged and the underdeveloped. As an ageing warrior, he grew breathless in his pursuit of smaller and smaller dragons - for the big dragons were now harder to come by. ~ Kenneth Minogue
Time Runs quotes by Kenneth Minogue
I played the violin my whole life. I wanted to play from the time I was just a little kid, and I've always loved dance as well. I wanted to make people smile. I wanted to add an extra energy to my playing and make it visual and make it unique and fun. ~ Lindsey Stirling
Time Runs quotes by Lindsey Stirling
The most exciting time is when I think of an idea and how I imagine I can make it. It would be wonderful if there was a projector inside my eye that and it could just put the idea on the screen for people to see. ~ Marjane Satrapi
Time Runs quotes by Marjane Satrapi
An active civil position will make you become the hero of your time. ~ Sunday Adelaja
Time Runs quotes by Sunday Adelaja
Even a two-car parade gets fouled up if you don't decide ahead of time who's going to lead. ~ Zig Ziglar
Time Runs quotes by Zig Ziglar
Thailand's been good. Mike Swick and his camp there have been awesome. I initially went there on the 12th week and was going to finish my camp here for the last eight weeks but instead I just stayed the whole time. ~ Soa Palelei
Time Runs quotes by Soa Palelei
I clung on to time, and consequently to learning, the only human activity that makes time our ally. ~ Cesar Aira
Time Runs quotes by Cesar Aira
Each time we see and are touched by the expression of some eternal principle, we catch a sweet glimpse of some aspect of our True Self. ~ Guy Finley
Time Runs quotes by Guy Finley
People could rationally decide that prolonged relationships take up too much time and effort and that they'd much rather do other kinds of things. But most people are afraid of rejection. ~ Albert Ellis
Time Runs quotes by Albert Ellis
But Galen hasn't been responsible in looking for road signs since this conversation first started. Even now, another exit-maybe theirs-zooms by them. He's in a bit of awe of human drivers who seem to be able to conduct all sorts of business while driving. Apparently, Galen isn't capable of carrying on simple conversations while watching for road signs. The worst part is, they should be reaching their exit any time now. But then again, Galen hasn't been able to drive the speed limit. Every time he gets up to speed, Grom tenses up and scowls at him until he slows down. Old people.
Abruptly, Galen sees their exit and takes it. He slows down to a crawl around the curve, which appears to irritate the driver behind him. But the driver behind him doesn't have hundreds of years left to put up with Grom. ~ Anna Banks
