I ate everything - a lot of pizza, bags of chips and boxes of cookies. Now I love chicken, that's all I eat. ~ Robert Iler
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Robert Iler
Rather than making you never want to eat chicken again, it simply makes you angry. It makes you hold a grudge. You'll eat chicken again, by God, and you'll chew really, really hard. ~ David Rakoff
Shoyu Chicken quotes by David Rakoff
If you can't be a hero, you can at least be funny while being a chicken. ~ Ina May Gaskin
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Ina May Gaskin
I like to eat Wheaties Fuel for breakfast with fresh fruit and egg whites. For lunch, I like to eat my wife's 'homerun chicken,' which is chicken, rice and vegetables, and for dinner I eat grilled steak or a couple of chicken breasts with rice and vegetables. During the day, I drink OhYeah! protein shakes as a snack. ~ Albert Pujols
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Albert Pujols
I'm a whitebread cracker. That's my favorite white person slur: "whitebread". The other day, someone came up to me and said, "What's up, whitebread?" And I was like, "That's not even an insult. That's just my race plus a food. I can do that, too, black bean soup! Stay out of this, Asian chicken platter!" ~ Mike Birbiglia
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Mike Birbiglia
I was not so comfortable with my new authority that I could say 'We eat the chicken now!' but the magus had seen that I was considering it ...
"My purse is full enough," said the magus, "to keep you supplied with roast chickens."
"So, so, so," I said. "We know who the power behind the throne is," and the magus laughed.
"You eat more than Gen did after prison," he said.
"I have more sympathy with him all the time. Are you going to finish that drumstick?" I asked.
"I am. Stop staring at it. ~ Megan Whalen Turner
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Megan Whalen Turner
I love chicken. I love chicken products: fried chicken, roasted chicken, chicken nuggets - whatever. And going to Japan, I would see that these chicken were smoked and then grilled and then have this amazing crispy skin. ~ David Chang
Shoyu Chicken quotes by David Chang
He put a pan on the stove and roasted the rumali roti quarters for half a minute on each side just until the butter in the dough sizzled, then placed them on a plate and trickled them with truffle oil. Then he placed a paper-thin slice of heart of fennel dusted with roasted cumin over them. In a bowl next to that, he laid out chicken in the simplest Mughlai sauce of steamed onion in cream with the slightest hint of saffron. Finally, he tucked a perfectly curled papad into the bowl. ~ Sonali Dev
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Sonali Dev
I had to laugh. "Come on, Scooby Doo. Let see what're made of."
Ank scoffed dryly. "I'm made of chicken shit." he bobs his head to the side. "That's what I'm made of. ~ Khalia Hades
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Khalia Hades
Saddling another person with a book he did not ask for has always seemed to me like a huge psychological imposition, like forcing someone to eat a chicken biryani without so much as inquiring whether they like cilantro. ~ Joe Queenan
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Joe Queenan
The retirees are gone from their plastic rockers on the front porches of the aging art-deco hotels. Hookers, dealers, pimps, chicken hawks, and runaways no longer stroll Ocean Drive, hustling their wares. The Yuppies have staked claims to South Beach, spiffing up the old buildings with turquoise and salmon paint, dressing themselves in bright, baggy cottons and silks, and hovering on the perimeter of perpetual trendiness. ~ Paul Levine
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Paul Levine
You learn to forgive (the South) for its narrow mind and growing pains because it has a huge heart. You forgive the stifling summers because the spring is lush and pastel sprinkled, because winter is merciful and brief, because corn bread and sweet tea and fried chicken are every bit as vital to a Sunday as getting dressed up for church, and because any southerner worth their salt says please and thank you. It's soft air and summer vines, pine woods and fat homegrown tomatoes. It's pulling the fruit right off a peach tree and letting the juice run down your chin. It's a closeted and profound appreciation for our neighbors in Alabama who bear the brunt of the Bubba jokes. The South gets in your blood and nose and skin bone-deep. I am less a part of the South than it is part of me. It's a romantic notion, being overcome by geography. But we are all a little starry-eyed down here. We're Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara and Rosa Parks all at once. ~ Amanda Kyle Williams
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Amanda Kyle Williams
I like to eat chicken, but I don't like live chickens. With their feathers and beaks and weird noises and flapping wings." He visibly shivers, then points above his right eye. "How'd you think I got this scar?"
"I thought you said your sister threw something at you when you were a kiddie."
Rob gives him a meaningful look.
"A chicken?"
Rob points at his scar again. "Them things are no joke. ~ Laura Kreitzer
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Laura Kreitzer
No one would barbecue their family dog. Why is a cow or a pig or a chicken different? ~ Mike Ness
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Mike Ness
Alphabet Juice is the book Roy Blount was born to write, which considering his prodigious talent, is saying a lot. Did you know that the word LAUGH is linguistically related to chickens and pie? This is the book that any of us who urgently, passionately love words-to read them, roll them over the tongue and learn their life stories while laughing and eating chicken and pie-were lucky enough to be born to read. ~ Cathleen Schine
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Cathleen Schine
In a suitable temperature, an egg becomes a chicken, and there are no chickens born of stones. ~ Mao Zedong
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Mao Zedong
The South, to me, is fried chicken and catfish caviar
that's grits
and good-looking women. ~ Erk Russell
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Erk Russell
A girl wearing a wicker chicken and playing the harp bopped me with a book about buns and then stuffed me under a piano. ~ Gail Carriger
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Gail Carriger
I gave up meat when I was twelve. & One day I was cutting up a chicken for my mom, and I hit a tumor with the knife. There was pus and blood all over the place. That was enough for me. ~ Josh Hartnett
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Josh Hartnett
The difference between bush and ladder also allows us to put a lid on a fruitless and boring debate. That debate is over what qualifies as True Language. One side lists some qualities that human language has but that no animal has yet demonstrated: reference, use of symbols displaced of in time and space from their referents, creativity, categorical speech perception, consistent ordering, hierarchical structure, infinity, recursion, and so on. The other side finds some counter-example in the animal kingdom (perhaps budgies can discriminate speech sounds, or dolphins or parrots can attend to word order when carrying out commands, or some songbird can improvise indefinitely without repeating itself), and gloats that the citadel of human uniqueness has been breached. The Human Uniqueness team relinquishes that criterion but emphasizes others or adds new ones to the list, provoking angry objections that they are moving the goalposts. To see how silly this all is, imagine a debate over whether flatworms have True Vision or houseflies have True Hands. Is an iris critical? Eyelashes? Fingernails? Who cares? This is a debate for dictionary-writers, not scientists. Plato and Diogenes were not doing biology when Plato defined man as a "featherless biped" and Diogenes refuted him with a plucked chicken. ~ Steven Pinker
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Steven Pinker
I like to have a spray bottle filled with apple juice to spray onto my meat. Whether it's pork, chicken, or beef, it adds flavor. Also, it helps keep your meat a real golden mahogany-looking color and prevents it from turning black. ~ Johnny Trigg
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Johnny Trigg
Then come on up. DO everyone a favor and shut me up," he said. "Put down your money, pick up that ball, and let it fly, looker."
"I'd rather not"
People laughed.
He flapped his arms and squawked like a chicken "Afraid you can't throw that far?"
"I know I can"
He lifted his hat in a small salute to my claim. Blond curls slipped out, then he plopped the hat back on and said, "I dare you. ~ Elizabeth Chandler
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Elizabeth Chandler
I was told I resembled a cartoon chicken, which is still true, especially after a rough weekend. My parents tell stories about my staring at them from the crib at all hours of the night. Sounds pretty creepy, right? A pale, bald and tiny baby bird peering out through the slats of its cage, challenging the adults to an all-night staring contest? ~ Amy Poehler
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Amy Poehler
In a low voice, I asked, "How are you doing?"
Luc shrugged. "You know, I'm doing my thing like a chicken wing."
My brow arched.
Daemon sounded like he choked. "Did you seriously just say that? ~ Jennifer L. Armentrout
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I may not know much, but I know chicken shit from chicken salad. ~ Lyndon B. Johnson
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Lyndon B. Johnson
Easy for you to say," Polly said. "You've lived here all your life and stayed under the radar. No one points at you."
"Sometimes small children point at my butt," Aunt Rhea said. "But that's just on account of all the fried chicken. ~ Kathy Hepinstall
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Kathy Hepinstall
Ish #21 Stop saying the only meat you eat is chicken. It's still meat! ~ Regina Griffin
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Regina Griffin
Dad diagnoses me as having a stomach bug, claiming that there's a nasty one going around, but I'm fairly certain it's the chicken he cooked last night, which was a bit squishy and pink in places. I'd barely eaten any and Dad had scoffed a whole plate of it down, which is why he says it can't have been the cause, but he has a cast iron stomach, probably from years of inadvertently poisoning himself. ~ Kate Lattey
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Kate Lattey
You know, before we all started having health care, in the olden days our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor, they would say I'll paint your house. I mean, that's the old days of what people would do to get health care with your doctors. Doctors are very sympathetic people. I'm not backing down from that system. ~ Sue Lowden
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Sue Lowden
Don't believe vegetarians who tell you that meat has no flavor, that it comes from the spices or the marinade. The flavor is already there: earth and metal, salt and fat, blood.
My favorite meat is chicken. I can eat a whole bird standing up in the kitchen, straight from the oven, burning my bare hands on its flesh. Anyone can roast a chicken, it is a good animal to cook. Lamb, on the other hand, is much harder to get right. You have to lock in the flavor, rubbing it with sea salt like you are exfoliating your own drying skin, tenderly basting it in its own juices, hour after hour. You have to make small slits across the surface of the leg, through which you can insert sprigs of rosemary, or cloves of garlic, or both. These incisions should run against the grain, in the opposite direction to which the muscle fibers lie. You can tell the direction better when the meat is still uncooked, when it is marbled and raw. It is worth running your finger along those fibers, all the way from one end to the other. This doesn't help with anything. It won't change how you cook it. But it is good to come to terms with things as they are.
Preparing meat is always an act of physical labor. Whacking rib eye with a rolling pin. Snapping apart an arc of pork crackling. And there is something inescapably candid about it, too. If you've ever spatchcocked a goose- if you've pressed your weight down on its breastbone, felt it flatten and give, its bones rearranging under your hands- you wi ~ Lara Williams
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Lara Williams
If you read any poetry or stories coming out these days, you know what I mean when I say that you can smell the stench of liquor coming from the words they write. And underneath their sentences lies a pile of chicken and goat bones, and the skeletons of the innocent ones. If you poke the head of the broom into contemporary literature, you'll find a hollow wall stuffed full of money - impure, dirty money. ~ Uday Prakash
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Uday Prakash
A simple rule of thumb is to shop the periphery of the grocery store - that's where you'll find meat, fish, dairy, and vegetables. Choose high-quality protein such as healthy, grass-fed beef and lamb and organic chicken and pork, and eat them in moderation. ~ Suzanne Somers
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Suzanne Somers
Family of friends, people she knows only by their voices. She especially likes Griswald, gruff old butler for wealthy Zack Givens. Meeting Griswald is a shock; he is neither gruff nor old, but a powerful, handsome man. In fact, he is Zack Givens, cold, heartless - and charmed by the artless young woman who brings him chicken soup, treats him like a friend ... and falls in love with the humble man she imagines him to be. Inevitably, she will face his betrayal. Then ~ Christina Dodd
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Christina Dodd
Don't come any closer!" Scarlet yelled. The chicken clucked and dawdled away. "I will shoot, you know."
"I know." A flicker of kindness passed over him and he pointed at his temple. "You'll want to aim for the head. That usually makes for a fatal shot. Or, if you're feeling shaky, the torso. It's a larger target."
"Your head looks pretty big from here. ~ Marissa Meyer
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Marissa Meyer
My Chicken can do a special trick! "And what is that?" She can lay an egg! "And what's so special about THAT?!" Well, Can YOU lay an egg? ~ Shirley Temple
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Shirley Temple
You ever see Willy Wonka? You know that part where the girl eats an everlasting gobstopper sweet and it tastes of everything? Like chicken soup and roast beef and blueberry pie all rolled into one? Well, that's exactly what Shapeshifter blood tastes like ... ~ Sarah Alderson
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Sarah Alderson
No god, goddess, or spirit would ever inhabit or employ a chicken. ~ Michael J. Sullivan
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Michael J. Sullivan
Of course I love cooking Eastern European food because I'm a Jew, but I also love making roast chicken. I love making Hungarian goulash. There are a lot of egg noodles in my cooking. ~ Judy Gold
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Judy Gold
I eat the same foods almost every day. I have my favorites like Filipino beef broth, chicken soup with lots and lots of rice. ~ Manny Pacquiao
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Manny Pacquiao
The modern chicken is both a technological triumph and a poster child for all that is sad and nightmarish about our industrial agriculture. The most engineered creature in history is also the world's most commonly mistreated animal. ~ Andrew Lawler
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Andrew Lawler
You see that movie, Chicken Run, where the chickens gang up together and escape from the farm? ~ Charlie Higson
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Charlie Higson
The saddest thing is a retarded man who is crying and promising a broken egg that it will still be a chicken some day.
And that they'll play together in a field when it gets better. ~ Chris Onstad
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Chris Onstad
You put some Vaseline under your eyes at night and under your chin, and you put a little bit on your chest and you'll avoid stretch marks and I'll get you some Vaseline, you can change your oil and fry chicken with it, too, but you best make sure you have something. ~ Tyler Perry
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Tyler Perry
When I was a kid, growing up during the 1970s, I used to read a lot of horror and science fiction. I graduated from comic books to paperbacks around the time I first entered my teens. And I want to say that what 99% of that stuff tells you about supposed encounters with the unknown is a formulaic convention. No one faints like a chicken-shit or else reaches for their weapon like Arnie Schwarzenegger in the face of something so utterly terrifying there isn't even a name for it. What those writers don't know is what happens in an encounter with the outside is this: that the moment slows down to such an extent that time itself simply stands still in your head. I suppose that fact doesn't make for good characterisation. It's incommunicable. I think they call it the numinous.

I once did a semester in creative writing back after graduating, around the decade King was outselling every other author on the planet, but could never make the grade. Still, I read a lot of the best attempts. Maybe that's why someone like Lovecraft, or Machen, or one of the old-school writers of that stuff I used to read had almost pulled it off. They were no good at characterisation and tended to use ciphers, presenting the phenomenon itself as the main protagonist, because it was the way things are when you encounter it. The thing empties you, draining out any semblance of normalcy, no matter what your history is, or what you think you're all about. Real horror consists not of the worst thing i ~ Mark Samuels
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Mark Samuels
Wednesday

Wind and spindles of clouds crowding the peaks from the south. A lone chicken pecks away on the lawn....
To be a concrete man. To be an individual. Not to strive to transform the whole world. To live in the world, changing it only as much as possible from within the reach of my nature. To become real in harmony with my needs, my individual needs.
I do not want to say that collective and abstract thought, that Humanity as such, are not important. Yet a certain balance must be restored. The most modern direction of is one that will rediscover the individual man. ~ Witold Gombrowicz
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Witold Gombrowicz
Our present addiction to pollsters and forecasters is a symptom of our chronic uncertainty about the future ... We watch our experts read the entrails of statistical tables and graphs the way the ancients watched their soothsayers read the entrails of a chicken. ~ Eric Hoffer
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Eric Hoffer
For some artists the live performance is the chicken before the egg of writing or recording of repertoire. For other artists the writing or recording of repertoire is the chicken before the egg of live performance. ~ Frank Black
Shoyu Chicken quotes by Frank Black
She 's no chicken; she 's on the wrong side of thirty, if she be a day. ~ Jonathan Swift
