Faith in action to me means going to the margins of society, seeking out those who are isolated, and bringing them back in. I was putting my faith into action when I went into the field and met the women who asked me about contraceptives. So, yes, there is a Church teaching about contraceptives - but there is another Church teaching, which is love of neighbor. When a woman who wants her children to thrive asks me for contraceptives, her plea puts these two Church teachings into conflict, and my conscience tells me to support the woman's desire to keep her children alive. To me, that aligns with Christ's teaching to love my neighbor. ~ Melinda Gates
Faith In Action quotes by Melinda Gates
Faith in action works and gets far good results than faith ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Faith In Action quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Enthusiasm is nothing more or less than faith in action. ~ Henry Chester
Faith In Action quotes by Henry Chester
Good appearance doesn't make a real man. The important thing is to do your best and keep your promises. A real man should show his faith in actions (rather) than words. ~ Yunho
Faith In Action quotes by Yunho
The unbelievable is nothing more than my lack of faith in action. Easter is nothing less than God building my faith by putting the unbelievable into action. ~ Craig D Lounsbrough
Faith In Action quotes by Craig D Lounsbrough
I never did, or countenanced, in public life, a single act inconsistent with the strictest good faith; having never believed there was one code of morality for a public, and another for a private man. ~ Thomas Jefferson
Faith In Action quotes by Thomas Jefferson
In order for us to be able to love, we need to have faith, because faith is love in action and love in action is service. In order for us to be able to love, we have to see and touch. Faith in action through prayer, faith in action through service: each is the same thing, the same love, the same compassion. ~ Mother Teresa
Faith In Action quotes by Mother Teresa
Baptism is faith in action. ~ Watchman Nee
Faith In Action quotes by Watchman Nee
It's one thing to tell your children about God, but when they experience God in their life and witness faith in action, it's the most life-changing experience available. ~ Drenda Keesee
Faith In Action quotes by Drenda Keesee
I love the Pope, I love seeing him in his Pope-Mobile, his three feet of bullet proof plexi-glass. That's faith in action folks! You know he's got God on his side. ~ Bill Hicks
Faith In Action quotes by Bill Hicks
Love is faith in action."

~R. Alan Woods [2006] ~ R. Alan Woods
Faith In Action quotes by R. Alan Woods
The onus is on us as a community to really put forward a different face for our religion, for our community, and for our Lord, and for our Prophet, peace be upon him, because it's really unacceptable that a religion with all of this beauty should be painted with such ugly strokes. So we're really here trying to paint a beautiful picture of our faith in action. ~ Hamza Yusuf
Faith In Action quotes by Hamza Yusuf
Sitting on the sidelines in our interconnected world is not a sufficient response. ~ Dillon Burroughs
Faith In Action quotes by Dillon Burroughs
We have Gideon because we don't want always to be speaking of our faith in abstract, otherworldly, irrreal, or general terms, to which people may be glad to listen but don't really take note of; because it is good once in a while actually to see faith in action, not just hear what it should be like, but see how it just happens in the midst of someone's life, in the story of a human being. Only here does faith become, for everyone, not just a children's game, but rather something highly dangerous, even terrifying. Here a person is being treated without considerations or conditions or allowances; he has to bow to what is being asked, or he will be broken. This is why the image of a person of faith is so often that of someone who is not beautiful in human terms, not a harmonious picture, but rather that of someone who has been torn to shreds. The picture of someone who has learned to have faith has the peculiar quality of always pointing away from the person's own self, toward the One in whose power, in whose captivity and bondage he or she is. So we have Gideon, because his story is a story of God glorified, of the human being humbled. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Faith In Action quotes by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Faith in action is love, and love in action is service. By transforming that faith into living acts of love, we put ourselves in contact with God Himself, with Jesus our Lord. ~ Mother Teresa
Faith In Action quotes by Mother Teresa
Sever the ties to your comfort zone.
Stretch yourself to see the wonders for you beyond the horizons.
Get up on your tiptoes
Reach up to the Lord
Great things await only those who see and believe.
It's only them that can receive. ~ Manuela George-Izunwa
Faith In Action quotes by Manuela George-Izunwa
I prefer trying over talking. ~ Dillon Burroughs
Faith In Action quotes by Dillon Burroughs
And a noble life is one ordered by, and oriented to, a transcendent moral code, not just one's own concept of existence and meaning and truth ... if we want a society that reveres life, that defends the family, and that discourages delinquency and promotes decency, we cannot force a privatization of religion; we must allow the truth-claims of religious faith to be uttered aloud in the public square. ~ Rick Santorum
Faith In Action quotes by Rick Santorum
We need to commit to serve the Lord and our communities with the same diligence and faith that the pioneers had. We must ever be on our guard that we do not become casual in keeping God's commandments, in abiding by His laws, and in being honest and trustworthy in all that we do. ~ M. Russell Ballard
Faith In Action quotes by M. Russell Ballard
I was captivated by the thought: what if persecution is the normal, expected situation for a believer? And what if persecution is, in fact, soil in which faith can grow? ~ Nik Ripken
Faith In Action quotes by Nik Ripken
Faith is an admirable trait. It's good to have faith in another person. But when faith is used as a substitute for reality, then it becomes a crutch for refusing to deal with that reality. ~ Peter David
Faith In Action quotes by Peter David
It is time to get strengthened in faith and know that the blessings of God are stronger than the devil's attack ~ Sunday Adelaja
Faith In Action quotes by Sunday Adelaja
I had blind faith in him. My faith in Elijah Muhammad was more blind and more uncompromising than any faith that any man has ever had for another man. And so I didn't try and see him as he actually was. ~ Malcolm X
Faith In Action quotes by Malcolm X
I have faith in all mankind. Well, not faith really, more like hopeful suspicion. And not "all" but 5 people. Mankind meaning computers. ~ Dane Cook
Faith In Action quotes by Dane Cook
Unbelievers, those who believe with difficulty, or believe in part, are those who do not show their faith through works. Apart from works the demons also believe (cf. Jms. 2:19) and confess Christ to be God and Master. 'We know Who You are' (Mk. 1:24), they say, 'You are the Son of God' (Mt. 8:29), and elsewhere, 'These men are the servants of the Most High God' (Acts 16:17). Yet such faith will not benefit the demons, nor even humans. This faith is of no use, for it is dead. ~ Symeon The New Theologian
Faith In Action quotes by Symeon The New Theologian
You see, in times of trouble, even gods can lose faith. They start putting their trust in the wrong things. They stop looking at the big picture and start being selfish. But [. . .] I'm used to perseverance. You have to rise above the squabbling and chaos, and keep believing. You have to always keep your goals in mind. ~ Rick Riordan
Faith In Action quotes by Rick Riordan
So we do not lose heart...Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, because we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal...So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. We are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. (Second Corinthians) ~ John Irving
Faith In Action quotes by John Irving
As an actor, you've got to have faith in the director's vision, that the director has a vision for this that is greater than the critics say. ~ Cliff Curtis
Faith In Action quotes by Cliff Curtis
Clark, what in your honest opinion is the right standard for determining conduct? Is the only right standard for everyone, the probable action of Jesus Christ? Would you say that the highest, best law for a man to live by was contained in asking the question 'What would Jesus do?' And then doing it regardless of results? In other words, do you think men everywhere ought to follow Jesus' example as closely as they can in their daily lives? ~ Charles Sheldon
Faith In Action quotes by Charles Sheldon
I refused to change the way I practiced my faith or to let fear stop me from carrying out what I believed in. ~ Shelina Zahra Janmohamed
Faith In Action quotes by Shelina Zahra Janmohamed
It would be misleading to say, 'I believe in the Force,' in the same sense that it would be misleading to say, 'I believe in the sun.' Give it whatever name you like - the Force, the Tao, the Holy Spirit, the Universal Mind - I see it in action everywhere I look, both in the world and in myself. ~ Matthew Stover
Faith In Action quotes by Matthew Stover
God brings tests into your life because your faith in Him
your belief that He is in control and that He is good
can be proved only in times when life is hard. ~ James MacDonald
Faith In Action quotes by James MacDonald
Salvation does not lie in the rituals and profession of faith, but in a lucid understanding of the meaning of one's life. ~ Leo Tolstoy
Faith In Action quotes by Leo Tolstoy
Exasperation with the threefold frustration of action
the unpredictability of its outcome, the irreversibility of the process, and the anonymity of its authors
is almost as old as recorded history. It has always been a great temptation, for men of action no less than for men of thought, to find a substitute for action in the hope that the realm of human affairs may escape the haphazardness and moral irresponsibility inherent in a plurality of agents. ~ Hannah Arendt
Faith In Action quotes by Hannah Arendt
The enemies of freedom from the left, right, and middle have one common denominator: faith in the state. ~ Roland Baader
Faith In Action quotes by Roland Baader
If we continue to believe God and place our trust in Him, bad things ultimately give way to better things. ~ Joyce Meyer
Faith In Action quotes by Joyce Meyer
When we speak our words to God with thanksgiving and release them with the faith that our requests will be granted, we put ourselves in a position to receive. God does not change and nature's laws are absolute and impartial. Thus, prayer has the potential for changing us. It connects us with God's spirit, and it is the key to His kingdom. Whatever your religious persuasion, it's a good thing to start every day with prayer. ~ Donna Fargo
Faith In Action quotes by Donna Fargo
The most common definition of [the word information] is: the action of informing; formation or molding of the mind or character, training, instruction, teaching; communication of instructive knowledge.
This definition remained fairly constant until the years immediately following World War II, when it came in vogue to use 'information' as a technological term to define anything that was sent over an electric or mechanical channel. 'Information' became part of the vocabulary of the science of messages. And, suddenly, the appellation could be applied to something that didn't necessarily have to inform. This definition was extrapolated to general usage as something told or communicated, whether or not it made sense to the receiver. Now, the freedom engendered by such an amorphous definition has, as you might expect, encouraged its liberal deployment. It has become the single most important word of our decade, the suspense of our lives and our work. ~ Richard Saul Wurman
Faith In Action quotes by Richard Saul Wurman
I grew up in the church, Resurrection Baptist Church in Philadelphia, and my grandmother was that grandmother at the church, the one always at the church, always putting on the events. It was deeply instilled in me that every action, everything I create, everything I say and do in the world is inexorably bound to the lives of everybody I come in contact with - and it's my responsibility to put things into the world that have a positive influence on humanity. ~ Will Smith
Faith In Action quotes by Will Smith
What if the Christian faith is supposed to exist in a variety of forms rather than just one imperial one? What if it is both more stable and more agile - more responsive to the Holy Spirit - when it exists in these many forms? And what if, instead of arguing about which form is correct and legitimate, we were to honor, appreciate, and validate one another and see ourselves as servants of one grander mission, apostles of one greater message, seekers on one ultimate quest? ~ Brian D. McLaren
Faith In Action quotes by Brian D. McLaren
THE GIANT STEP IN THE WALK OF FAITH IS THE ONE WE TAKE WHEN WE DECIDE GOD NO LONGER IS A PART OF OUR LIVES. HE IS OUR LIFE. ~ Beth Moore
Faith In Action quotes by Beth Moore
Dear Mama: The reason I didn't write last Sunday was because I was out of town. My friend Pound invited me to spend Saturday and Sunday with him … His parents are very nice people and have always been exceptionally kind to me. Mrs. Pound had prepared a fine meal … After supper Pound and I went to his room where we had a long talk on subjects that I love yet have not time to study and which he is making a life work of. That is literature, and the drama and the classics, also a little philosophy. He, Pound, is a fine fellow; he is the essence of optimism and has a cast-iron faith that is something to admire. If he ever does get blue nobody knows it, so he is just the man for me. But not one person in a thousand likes him, and a great many people detest him and why? Because he is so darned full of conceits and affectation. He is really a brilliant talker and thinker but delights in making himself just exactly what he is not: a laughing boor. His friends must be all patience in order to find him out and even then you must not let him know it, for he will immediately put on some artificial mood and be really unbearable. It is too bad, for he loves to be liked, yet there is some quality in him which makes him too proud to try to please people. I am sure his only fault is an exaggeration of a trait that in itself is good and in every way admirable. He is afraid of being taken in if he trusts his really tender heart to mercies of a cruel crowd and so keeps it hidden and trusts no one ~ William Carlos Williams
Faith In Action quotes by William Carlos Williams
How will it be with us in the future life, when everything that has gratified us in this world: riches, honors, food and drink, dress, beautifully furnished dwellings, and all attractive objects-how will it be, I say, when all these things leave us-when they will all seem to us a dream, and when works of faith and virtue, of abstinence, purity, meekness, humility, mercy, patience, obedience, and others will be required of us? ~ John Of Kronstadt
Faith In Action quotes by John Of Kronstadt
This point must be heard: the Gospels are first-century narrations based on first-century interpretations. Therefore they are a first-century filtering of the experience of Jesus. They have never been other than that. We must read them today not to discover the literal truth about Jesus, but rather to be led into the Jesus experience they were seeking to convey. That experience always lies behind the distortions, which are inevitable since words are limited. If the Gospels are to be for us revelations of truth, we must enter these texts, go beneath the words, discover the experience that made the words necessary, and in this manner seek the meaning to which the words point. One must never identify the text with the revelation or the messenger with the message. That has been the major error in our two thousand years of Christian history. It is an insight that today is still feared and resisted. But let it be clearly stated, the Gospels are not in any literal sense holy, they are not accurate, and they are not to be confused with reality. They are rather beautiful portraits painted by first-century Jewish artists, designed to point the reader toward that which is in fact holy, accurate, and real. The Gospels represent that stage in the development of the faith story in which ecstatic exclamation begins to be placed into narrative form. ~ John Shelby Spong
Faith In Action quotes by John Shelby Spong
Jesus Christ is three in one: the way, the truth, and the life. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Faith In Action quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
It's impossible to not believe in God when you see all the good in the world. ~ Karina Halle
Faith In Action quotes by Karina Halle
The only thing that helps me keep faith is to stay in the truth of love because when you love someone - or many people - you believe in them and you believe in who they are and what they can do ... then your belief has to go to an eternal presence because when you really care for someone you can't bear the thought of never seeing them again. You want that mystery of eternity to be real. ~ Dolores Hart
Faith In Action quotes by Dolores Hart
Repentance, turning from sin, and degrees of conviction of sin do not constitute the grounds on which Christ is offered to us. They may constitute ways in which the Spirit works as the gospel makes its impact on us. But they never form the warrant for repentance and faith. ~ Sinclair B. Ferguson
Faith In Action quotes by Sinclair B. Ferguson
The disappearance of theology from the life of the Church, and the orchestration of that disappearance by some of its leaders, is hard to miss today, but oddly enough, not easy to prove. It is hard to miss in the evangelical world
in the vacuous worship that is so prevalent, for example, in the shift form God to the self as the central focus of faith, in the psychologized preaching that follows this shift, in the erosion of its conviction, in its strident pragmatism, in its inability to think incisively about the culture, in its reveling in the irrational. ~ David F. Wells
Faith In Action quotes by David F. Wells
Faith is the substance of things unseen. (Rom. 10:17). By faith, we hold as true those things that can in no way be visualized. But one cannot see all things that can be visualized in the same light. This is a statement that was firmly held by philosophers and theologians and subscribed to by popular culture long before the invisible parts of the electromagnetic spectrum were known. A difference was recognized between those things that can be seen by the light of the sun or the flame of a candle and those things that can show themselves on rare occasions without losing their status as members of a class of invisible beings. Some such visions may be everyday occurrences. Others are exceptions- some dreaded, some desired. ~ Barbara Duden
Faith In Action quotes by Barbara Duden
Just as a war fought in winter demands different behavior and equipment from a war in the summer, human beings must learn to respect their own seasons, and not try to act when it is time to wait, not try to wait at a time of action. ~ Paulo Coelho
Faith In Action quotes by Paulo Coelho
I think you will agree that I am alive in every part of this book; turn back twenty, thirty, one hundred pages - I am back there. That is why I hate the story; characters are not snakes that they must shed their skins on every page - there can only be one action: what a man is. When you have understood this, you will be through with novels. ~ Kenneth Patchen
