The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who'll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you're sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that's almost never the case. ~ Chuck Close
Young Artists quotes by Chuck Close
Anytime you can promote young artists and designers is a cool thing. ~ Dylan Lauren
Young Artists quotes by Dylan Lauren
Lots of ambitious work by young artists ends up in a dumpster after its warehouse debut. So an unknown artist's big glass vitrine holding a rotting cow's head covered by maggots and swarms of buzzing flies may be pretty unsellable. Until the artist becomes a star. Then he can sell anything he touches . ~ Charles Saatchi
Young Artists quotes by Charles Saatchi
The artist is the lowest form of life on the rung of the ladder. The publishers are usually businessmen who deal with businessmen. They deal with promotional people. They deal with financial people. They deal with accountants. They deal with people who work on higher levels. They deal with tax people, but have absolutely no interest in artists, in individual artists, especially very young artists. ~ Jack Kirby
Young Artists quotes by Jack Kirby
English teachers, workshops, and myths try to make writers slow down. We are the ONLY ART on the planet that tells young artists to not practice and do less to get better. Head-shaking in its stupidity. And new writers buy into that. ~ Dean Wesley Smith
Young Artists quotes by Dean Wesley Smith
In France, in Europe, the young artists of any generation always act as grandsons of some great man - Poussin, for example, or Victor Hugo. They can't help it. Even if they don't believe in that, it gets in their system. And so when they come to produce something of their own, the tradition is nearly indestructible. ~ Marcel Duchamp
Young Artists quotes by Marcel Duchamp
I lived in New York City back in the 1980s, which is when the Bordertown series was created. New York was a different place then -- dirtier, edgier, more dangerous, but also in some ways more exciting. The downtown music scene was exploding -- punk and folk music were everywhere -- and it wasn't as expensive to live there then, so a lot of young artists, musicians, writers, etc. etc. were all living and doing crazy things in scruffy neighborhoods like the East Village.

I was a Fantasy Editor for a publishing company back then -- but in those days, "fantasy" to most people meant "imaginary world" books, like Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. A number of the younger writers in the field, however, wanted to create a branch of fantasy that was rooted in contemporary, urban North America, rather than medieval or pastoral Europe. I'd already been working with some of these folks (Charles de Lint, Emma Bull, etc.), who were writing novels that would become the foundations for the current Urban Fantasy field. At the time, these kinds of stories were considered so strange and different, it was actually hard to get them into print.

When I was asked by a publishing company to create a shared-world anthology for Young Adult readers, I wanted to create an Urban Fantasy setting that was something like a magical version of New York...but I didn't want it to actually be New York. I want it to be any city and every city -- a place that anyone from anywhere could go to or rela ~ Terri Windling
Young Artists quotes by Terri Windling
I have heard Ori Kam on several occasions over the last few years and have always been deeply impressed with his playing. He possesses a rare combination of musical talent, technical facility, intelligence, and charisma, and he is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary young artists I have heard in recent years. ~ Daniel Barenboim
Young Artists quotes by Daniel Barenboim
One of the things my career as an artist might say to young artists is: The things that are close to you are the things you can photograph the best. And unless you photograph what you love, you are not going to make good art. ~ Sally Mann
Young Artists quotes by Sally Mann
Nothing, indeed, is more dangerous to the young artist than any conception of ideal beauty: he is constantly led by it either into weak prettiness or lifeless abstraction: whereas to touch the ideal at all, you must not strip it of vitality. ~ Oscar Wilde
Young Artists quotes by Oscar Wilde
The rise of the Internet has caused the demise of the record labels, and has destroyed the music business of old, but it's also created new opportunities for young artists. ~ Judy Collins
Young Artists quotes by Judy Collins
Every young artist has to do it one way, his [or her] way, and the hell with patterns. Remember who you are and where you are and what you are doing ... And never take advice, including this. ~ Katherine Anne Porter
Young Artists quotes by Katherine Anne Porter
These kids will make you cry, laugh ... They make you feel all kinds of emotions through their writings and they share a lot with me, as an instructor, that they might not normally share with other people because they are young artists and they need a platform for pulling that stuff out. ~ Clinton D. Powell
Young Artists quotes by Clinton D. Powell
How do we find the thing we are meant to do? How do we become ourselves? These are enormous questions for every young artists, but they can only be answered in retrospect. We see the path only after we've been on it for quite a long time. We read a book and we wonder how it was made. We wonder about the person who made it. We wonder if we could make something like that ourselves. ~ Audrey Niffenegger
Young Artists quotes by Audrey Niffenegger
I was looking at making a shift in my career. I've been so blessed I'd like to be able to give that back. If I could find young artists, young performers I can nurture to have a career I would really like that. ~ Diana Ross
Young Artists quotes by Diana Ross
I have always said to young artists that scholastic training and the studying of art history are crucial to fully developing as an artist. ~ LeRoy Neiman
Young Artists quotes by LeRoy Neiman
I haven't talked to any young artists for a long time. But if we did sit down, I'd definitely tell them my viewpoint. If it was Lady Gaga, I'd say: 'You're talented, and you've obviously got the goods ... what the hell are you doing with your image? How can anyone take you serious?' ~ Suzi Quatro
Young Artists quotes by Suzi Quatro
Young artists must pave their way to Art by drawing pictures for magazine stories that young authors write to pave their way to Literature. ~ O. Henry
Young Artists quotes by O. Henry
Timid young artists, adding parental fears to their own, often give up their sunny dreams of artistic careers, settling into the twilight world of could-have-beens and regrets. ~ Julia Cameron
Young Artists quotes by Julia Cameron
It is only after years of struggle and deprivation that the young artist should touch color - and then only in the company of his betters. ~ El Greco
Young Artists quotes by El Greco
We think it hugely important to support young artists, there is a war against that kind of artistry, that kind of creation ... When somebody is 19 years old, they're gonna do what they're gonna do just like we did ... For me the most important thing was for him to know anytime he can call and I'll come whatever happens. ~ Will Smith
Young Artists quotes by Will Smith
We work so hard as young artists to further our careers or improve our technique, sometimes it gets so easy to not actually go and see things like a play or a film. I think the best way to get better is to see other actors do what they do well. ~ Juliet Rylance
Young Artists quotes by Juliet Rylance
I'm the lady by day, and I'm Gaga by night. And I'm always going to be that way, because it's a testament to your discipline as a musician. I do like to drink, I like to get crazy, I like to go out with my friends, and I like to sing rock and roll. I used to go-go dance! And I like to be inspired by young artists, people like Millie who are outrageously hard, disciplined individuals. But at the end of the day I'm a classically trained pianist and I'm a singer, and that's what allows the girl that goes out at night to also go on stage with Tony Bennett at Lincoln Center. Because I know how to do it. ~ Lady Gaga
Young Artists quotes by Lady Gaga
The overall climate meant that young artists pushing the limits of their craft were locked out of the establishment. ~ Paul Brody
Young Artists quotes by Paul Brody
It is only after years of preparation that the young artist should touch color - not color used descriptively, that is, but as a means of personal expression. ~ Henri Matisse
Young Artists quotes by Henri Matisse
I have a responsibility to pass on to the next generation what I learned from my teachers, ... It keeps me young and reminds me where I came from. Teaching young artists is like giving water to a flower. ~ Isaac Stern
Young Artists quotes by Isaac Stern
When I and the other young artists were working in comics, our work carried with it a particularly American slant. After all, we were Americans drawing and writing about things that touched us. As it turned out, the early work was, you might say, a comic book version of Jazz. ~ Joe Simon
Young Artists quotes by Joe Simon
I don't know if Nashville will ever be ousted as the Music City. But I also think that here, over the last few years, Georgia has definitely kind of risen to the top as far as the crop of young artists coming out of this area that are kind of making waves, you know? ~ Jason Aldean
Young Artists quotes by Jason Aldean
There comes a moment in a young artist's life when he knows he has to bring something to the stage from within himself. He has to put in something in order to be able to take something. ~ Mikhail Baryshnikov
Young Artists quotes by Mikhail Baryshnikov
I have a merely ethical and moral relationship to collecting. Whereby I never collect things that I necessarily like. I collect things by young artists who don't have any money because I need to give them some money! Because I think that they should carry on whether I like it or not. ~ Ryan Gander
Young Artists quotes by Ryan Gander
I hope my work has inspired young artists. I have always tried to maintain my freedom as an artist and I feel it is one of the main reasons I have been successful. ~ Frank Frazetta
Young Artists quotes by Frank Frazetta
I believe in the future of humankind. As long as there are children, as long as there are people who look up at the night sky in sheer wonder, as long as there is music and poetry and the Mona Lisa -- and old monasteries and young artists and fledgling scientists and all the other expressions of human creativity -- I will remain optimistic."
- Anton Zeilinger ~ Anton Zeilinger
Young Artists quotes by Anton Zeilinger
I listen a lot to the incredible young artists who are coming through, which is something that just wasn't possible during Apartheid. That's the way I learn. ~ Letta Mbulu
Young Artists quotes by Letta Mbulu
I think a philistine environment should be bracing for young artists. You have to make your own enjoyment, you've got to make your own art. ~ Michael Longley
Young Artists quotes by Michael Longley
Many young artists, they look at the art world and think they can make a lot of money. ~ James Rosenquist
Young Artists quotes by James Rosenquist
I would advise young artists to paint as they can, as long as they can, without being afraid of painting badly. ~ Claude Monet
Young Artists quotes by Claude Monet
I guess people don't think that young girls or young artists have opinions, but I'm so glad that there's artists like Lorde and Raury and Kehlani because they're showing other people that young people can have an opinion and a voice and do really well with it. I'm glad I can be one of those people. ~ Alessia Cara
Young Artists quotes by Alessia Cara
To the Young Artists of Italy! The cry of rebellion that we launch, linking our ideals with those of the Futurist poets, does not originate in an aesthetic clique. It expresses the violent desire that stirs in the veins of every creative artist today. ~ Umberto Boccioni
Young Artists quotes by Umberto Boccioni
I've tried to help a lot of young artists get started. ~ Charley Pride
Young Artists quotes by Charley Pride
The art world can be very intimidating because it's just so vast. You talk to people who are really clued in to all the young artists and coming into it you're never going to be able to catch up immediately, even though there's pressure to. ~ Daniel Radcliffe
Young Artists quotes by Daniel Radcliffe
For a young artist to really make it and make money is a lot more difficult these days. ~ Norah Jones
Young Artists quotes by Norah Jones
And there was Adela Rogers St. Johns, her friend since their girlhood in San Francisco. Adela would also be nominated for Best Original Story in 1932, but lose to Frances when she won her second Oscar for The Champ. Yet Adela harbored no jealousy of the woman she claimed was "touched with genius. As a writer, she is the unquestioned head of her profession. . . . As a woman, she is a philanthropist, a patroness of young artists, and herself the most brilliant, versatile and accomplished person in Hollywood. ~ Cari Beauchamp
Young Artists quotes by Cari Beauchamp
It is my dearest wish to help young artists of our country ... and to assist them in establishing themselves in the art world. ~ Louis Comfort Tiffany

Young Artists quotes by Hoodie Allen
I don't think people are terribly interested in young artists who were doing interesting thing, but I don't think people are terribly interested in young artists. ~ Julian Schnabel
Young Artists quotes by Julian Schnabel
When I was a kid, a book I read advised young artist to be themselves. That decided it for me. I was a corny kind of guy, so I went in for corn. ~ Walt Disney
Young Artists quotes by Walt Disney
I've always tried to - when I've been able to - support young artists, no matter what medium. ~ Spike Lee
Young Artists quotes by Spike Lee
I think young artists are always inspiring because they are coming at worlds from a different point of view. ~ Shirley Manson
Young Artists quotes by Shirley Manson
He was already beginning, as always happens at a respectable age, to take a firm stand for Raphael and the old masters––not because he was fully convinced of their lofty merit, but so as to shove them in the faces of young artists. ~ Nikolai Gogol
Young Artists quotes by Nikolai Gogol
They danced again, and when the assembly closed, parted, on the lady's side at least, with a strong inclination for continuing the acquaintance. Whether she thought of him so much while she drank her warm wine and water and prepared herself for bed as to dream of him when there, cannot be ascertained; but I hope it was no more than in a light slumber, or a morning doze at most, for if it be true, as a celebrated writer has maintained, that no young lady can be justified in falling in love before the gentleman's love is declared, it must be very improper that a young lady should dream of a gentlemen before the gentleman is first known to have dreamed of her. ~ Jane Austen
Young Artists quotes by Jane Austen
This young woman knew that she would die in the next few days. (...). Pointing through the window of the hut, she said 'This tree here is the only friend I have in my loneliness.' (...). Anxiously I asked her if the tree replied. 'Yes.' What did it say to her? She answered, 'It said to me, "I am here - I am here - I am life, eternal life. ~ Viktor E. Frankl
Young Artists quotes by Viktor E. Frankl
Think of me that way," he continued. A slight shimmer glinted acrosse his eyes. "In a sense, I'm giving my life for those ... I care about. A sacrifice you might say. ~ Kellie Thacker
Young Artists quotes by Kellie Thacker
Serenity barely heard the last of his words as he made his way out of the cabin. Instead, her attention was on the quick, clean strokes of Morgan's writing. It amazed her that a pirate would be literate. Especially one sold so young to the sea.
She broke the seal.
I feel like a weed in the midst of Winter. 'Tis the sunshine of your smile that will bring back the Spring of my days. We arrive in four days. I hope you will grace me again with your presence.
Yours,
Morgan
She traced the flowing letters with the tip of her finger and couldn't suppress a smile. A poetic pirate no less. Who would have thought? ~ Kinley MacGregor
Young Artists quotes by Kinley MacGregor
I was young and physically fit and I struggled here, so I had a deep respect for the older people, and those with disabilities, who returned class after class in spite of their pain and their physical limitations. ~ Edward Burke
Young Artists quotes by Edward Burke
Everything doesn't seem like anything when you love someone. Especially when you're young. ~ Kiera Cass
Young Artists quotes by Kiera Cass
I think that certainly the artists of the '40s, '50s and '60s were fighting a very conformist society, which didn't give them enough space to live or create, and they were bucking all kinds of spoken and unspoken rules. ~ Anne Roiphe
Young Artists quotes by Anne Roiphe
I was surrounded by love, and not some cheesy, overbearing, faux in-your-face kind of love, but real, intimate, I-know-all-your-quirks-and-habits-and-still-love-you kind of love. ~ Samantha Young
Young Artists quotes by Samantha Young
More than that, these adverts sell a dubious world view. They sell the idea that science is not about the delicate relationship between evidence and theory. They suggest, instead, with all the might of their international advertising budgets, their Microcellular Complexes, their Neutrillium XY, their Tenseur Peptidique Végétal and the rest, that science is about impenetrable nonsense involving equations, molecules, sciencey diagrams, sweeping didactic statements from authority figures in white coats, and that this sciencey-sounding stuff might just as well be made up, concocted, confabulated out of thin air, in order to make money. They sell the idea that science is incomprehensible, with all their might, and they sell this idea mainly to attractive young women, who are disappointingly under-represented in the sciences. ~ Ben Goldacre
Young Artists quotes by Ben Goldacre
Epic, epic love is not about having someone. It's about being willing to give them up. It's sacrifice. It's my mom's theater tickets stuffed down at the bottom of her jewelry box. It's Noah and August. It's my sister and Annabelle. It's Jordan and his mom, the truth he reserves to protect her. And see, that's the thing I didn't understand. The thing no one tells you. That just because you find love doesn't mean it's yours to keep. Love never belongs to you. It belongs to the universe. ~ Rebecca Serle
Young Artists quotes by Rebecca Serle
They fell in love the way you do the first time, when you're young, and you feel as if you have nothing and everything to lose ~ Rainbow Rowell
Young Artists quotes by Rainbow Rowell
He was poor, yet always appeared to be giving something away; a stranger, yet everyone was his friend; no longer young, but as happy-hearted as a boy; plain and peculiar, yet his face looked beautiful to many. ~ Louisa May Alcott
Young Artists quotes by Louisa May Alcott
It is dangerous it seems to me for a civilization when there is a complete abyss betewen people in general and the artists. Or is it always so? The poets who are most ardently on the people's side write in such a way that the people cannot see rhyme nor reason to their work. ~ May Sarton
Young Artists quotes by May Sarton
I want to be in fifth grade again. Now, that is a deep dark secret, almost as big as the other one. Fifth grade was easy
old enough to play outside without Mom, too young to go off the block. The perfect leash length. ~ Laurie Halse Anderson
Young Artists quotes by Laurie Halse Anderson
Though I was starved for contact, I didn't stop to talk to any of these strangers. I had forgotten how to convincingly speak the polite things strangers say to each other. ~ Aspen Matis
Young Artists quotes by Aspen Matis
At first blush, it seems that the young people who were shot down in the parking lot at the base of Blanket Hill gave up their lives for a dream that died with them. ~ William Kunstler
Young Artists quotes by William Kunstler
It is not surprising that young white males – most between thirty and forty – play major roles in the production of hip-pop. It's easy to forget this because when most people critique rap and hip-pop harshly, they assume that young black men are the sole creators and producers of misogynist rap. In fact, nothing is unilaterally produced anymore. As we've discussed, once you have a corporate takeover of the street culture, it is no longer the property of the young, Black and Latino men and women who have created it. It is reinvented with the mass consumer audience in mind. The hard-core misogyny and the hard-core sexism isn't a translation from street to big-time studio, it is a product of the big-time studio. ~ Bell Hooks
Young Artists quotes by Bell Hooks
Even now I am haunted by the touching look of the young, bright, anxious eyes as we passed along the rows of sufferers. There, all around us, lying maimed and battered and dying, was the flower of Britain's youth. ~ Wade Davis
Young Artists quotes by Wade Davis
All is as it was," she said softly to the young Q. Turning to Janeway, she added, "Humanity is a stubborn thing, Kathryn Janeway. It hopes, even when all hope is gone. ~ Kirsten Beyer
Young Artists quotes by Kirsten Beyer
Out here you need to live in the moments. Watch the world. You're a young man, Jal, a child who's refused to grow up. Do it now, or you'll die a young man. ~ Mark Lawrence
Young Artists quotes by Mark Lawrence
She comes from the Midwest. She had me at a very young age and raised me on her own. She's a very hard worker. ~ Lara Flynn Boyle
Young Artists quotes by Lara Flynn Boyle
Renaissance man, woman, either way it's a worthy pursuit! Like the painters of Emilia's day, I was raised in an environment that encouraged creative expression. Both my parents were artists, who didn't think much of TV and refused to upgrade our old black and white set. To entertain myself, I made art and wrote puppet shows. ~ Mary Pope Osborne
Young Artists quotes by Mary Pope Osborne
If people were able to be convinced that art is precise advance knowledge of how to cope with the psychic and social consequences of the next technology, would they all become artists? ~ Marshall McLuhan
Young Artists quotes by Marshall McLuhan
It's incredible to be young and live here and not have to clean up your dorm room. ~ Penn Dayton Badgley
Young Artists quotes by Penn Dayton Badgley
Are you saying you don't want anything from me?"
"I want this. I want our arrangement. I want you ... " I sucked in a breath, feeling my control slip. " ... to fuck it out of me."
"Fuck what out, Jocelyn?"
Couldn't he see it? Was my mask really that good? I shrugged. "All the nothing ~ Samantha Young
Young Artists quotes by Samantha Young
We are thankful for the gifts that surround us, and then we let them go, trusting that nothing will be lost, even if we lose it for a time. ~ William Paul Young
Young Artists quotes by William Paul Young
This is how Raimbaut saw him, as with quick assured movements he arranged the pine cones in a triangle, then in squares on the sides of the triangle, and obstinately compared the pine cones on the shorter sides of the triangle with those of the square of the hypotenuse. Raimbaut realised that all this moved by ritual, convention, formulas, and beneath it there was ... what? He felt a vague sense of discomfort come over him at knowing himself to be outside all these rules of a game. But then his wanting to avenge his father's death, his ardor to fight, to enroll himself among Charlemagne's warriors - wasn't that also a ritual to prevent plunging into the void, like this raising and setting of pine cones by Sir Agilulf? Oppressed by the turmoil of such unexpected questions, young Raimbaut flung himself to the ground and burst into tears. ~ Italo Calvino
Young Artists quotes by Italo Calvino
When one would ask most modern artists, poets, writers and other status quo fueled semi-intellectuals who Machiavelli was - was that an opera singer? ~ Martijn Benders
Young Artists quotes by Martijn Benders
If unconditional love, loyalty, and obedience are the tickets to an eternal life, then my black Labrador, Venus, will surely be there long before me, along with all the dear animals in nature who care for their young at great cost to themselves and have suffered so much at the hands of humans. ~ Richard Rohr
Young Artists quotes by Richard Rohr
In all big cities the style of life is the same. Same endless array of restaurants; same big museums with the usual suspects; same anonymity, which can be thrilling when you're young but which I found got tiresome. ~ Yann Martel
Young Artists quotes by Yann Martel
Expect the worst and you can't be disappointed. Optimism is the luxury of the young, the foolish and the dullard. ~ Luke Scull
Young Artists quotes by Luke Scull
It always surprises me when people assume that something an artist has created is based on a true experience or reflects his or her own lifestyle. Often nothing could be farther from the truth. [ ... ] An artist's imagination is his greatest tool. It can create a mood or feeling that people want to have, as well as transport you to a different place altogether. ~ Michael Jackson
Young Artists quotes by Michael Jackson
Try to imagine what the rising generation could become if these five righteous patterns were practiced consistently in every home. Our young people could be like Helaman's army: invincible (see Alma 57:25
26). ~ Larry R. Lawrence
Young Artists quotes by Larry R. Lawrence
At six o'clok the young King's terrible sufferings finally ended. After his eyes had closed for the last time, the tempeste raged on. Later, superstitious folk claimed that Henry himself had sent it, and had risen from his grave in anger at the subversion of his will. ~ Alison Weir
Young Artists quotes by Alison Weir
The severe frost last February destroyed many branches as well as young trees that had already been full of sap as a result of the warm weather. In addition to this punishment by God, there is another one, namely, an unbelievable number of caterpillar-type worms which do very great damage to our wheat, barley, and oats. They also eat down to the ground the Indian corn sprouts and whatever young plants we have in our gardens. It would be even worse except for the birds, particularly the starlings, which fly over the fields in large numbers and eat the worms. . . .

Last month the unusually large number of worms threatened to ruin our crops completely, but it pleased God (for, according to the Second Book of Chronicles 7:13, He commands the locusts to devour the land and, according to Verse 14, He promises to heal it) that a large number of starlings and other small birds came to the fields and gradually ate all the worms. Thanks be to God for His merciful regime! ~ Johann Martin Boltzius
Young Artists quotes by Johann Martin Boltzius
Who can quit young lives after being long in company with them, and not desire to know what befell them in their after-years? ~ George Eliot
Young Artists quotes by George Eliot
