And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating,
Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door;
This it is, and nothing more. ~ Edgar Allan Poe
Verse Iii quotes by Edgar Allan Poe
One rendering of the Septuagint (LXX) version of Psalm 95:5-6 reaffirms this reality of national gods being demons whose deity was less than the Creator, "For great is the Lord, and praiseworthy exceedingly. More awesome he is than all the gods. For all the gods of the nations are demons, but the Lord made the heavens."[4] Another LXX verse, Isa. 65:11, speaks of Israel's idolatry: "But ye are they that have left me, and forget my holy mountain, and prepare a table for [a demon], and fill up the drink-offering to Fortune [a foreign goddess].[5] ~ Brian Godawa
Verse Iii quotes by Brian Godawa
The first two books that I did by myself were long stories in verse. I knew I could do that because I'd written a lot in verse. But, verse stories are hard to sell, so my editor encouraged me to try writing in prose. ~ Natalie Babbitt
Verse Iii quotes by Natalie Babbitt
As long as I can run fast, track will always be an option. But right now I'm focused on football because the NFL is knocking on my door and I'm not going to slam it in its face. ~ Robert Griffin III
Verse Iii quotes by Robert Griffin III
I've definitely met nightmare Hollywood types who think they're getting twenty million dollars a picture when they're not. But they act like it. And they just insult everybody. ~ Brendan Sexton III
Verse Iii quotes by Brendan Sexton III
We can die by it, if not live by love, And if unfit for tombs and hearse Our legend be, it will be fit for verse; And if no peace of chronicle we prove, We'll build in sonnet pretty rooms; As well a well wrought urne becomes The greatest ashes, as half-acre tombs. ~ John Donne
Verse Iii quotes by John Donne
My heroes were Eddie Van Halen - especially after Van Halen I, II, III, and IV - Randy Rhoads, Ace Frehley and dudes like that. My brother played drums and we jammed in the garage and started writing our own stuff. ~ Dimebag Darrell
Verse Iii quotes by Dimebag Darrell
Accepting that we have weaknesses becomes a strength. ~ Joseph M. Marshall III
Verse Iii quotes by Joseph M. Marshall III
I had a hip replacement a couple of years ago. I have a song about that. And why wouldn't you? It strikes me that that was a huge event. It's kind of funny and horrible and interesting, so why wouldn't one write about that? ~ Loudon Wainwright III
Verse Iii quotes by Loudon Wainwright III
Can you just imagine the two of them next year at the Phi Delta Carnation Ball?" Laura Grace asks, clapping her hands together.
Daddy looks confused. "The two of who?"
"Why, Ryder and Jemma, of course." Mama pats him on the hand. "You remember the Carnation Ball--it's the first Phi Delta party of the year. They have to go together, right, Laura Grace?"
She nods. "We've been waiting all our lives for this."
Mama finally glances my way and sees my scowl. "Aw, honey. We're just teasing, that's all."
This sort of teasing has been going on my entire life--second verse, same as the first. It's gotten real old, real fast.
"May I be excused?" I ask, pushing back from the table.
"You go on and finish your dinner," Laura Grace says, entirely unperturbed. "We'll stop teasing. I promise."
"It's okay. I'm done. It was delicious, thanks. I just need to get some air, that's all. I'm getting a bit of a headache."
Laura Grace nods. "It's this heat--way too hot for September." She waves a hand in my direction. "Go on, then. Ryder, why don't you go get Jemma some aspirin or something."
I glance over at Ryder, and our eyes meet. I shake my head, hoping he gets the message. "No, it's fine. I'm…uh…I've got some in my purse."
"Go with her, son," Mr. Marsden prods. "Be a gentleman, and get her a bottle of water to take outside with her."
Ugh. I give up. My escape plot is now ruined.
Wordlessly, Ryder rises from the table and stalks out ~ Kristi Cook
Verse Iii quotes by Kristi Cook
Armenian Cognac

A bottle of cognac from Yerevan
is on my kitchen table
as closed as that history
and as silent
If I broke it down I'd lose a hundred years
of love
and if I opened it the ancestors
hanging here in black and white
would come down from the walls
to have a glass with me
I know a history that's been forgotten
and I know why that bottle of cognac
stands with such singular pride....

If I broke it now I'd lose a hundred years
of my people's history ~ Najwan Darwish
Verse Iii quotes by Najwan Darwish
The thing that is always so surprising about plays written in another century is how remarkably elastic they are. When you listen to the way in which Shakespeare attacks relationships, for example, even though the words may start off sounding foreign, in actuality they are so accessible, the motivations so clear, the resonances so contemporary. When you put it in a modern context - we could well be in a place with someone like Gaddafi or Mubarak - it becomes apparent how Richard III resonates with that type of personality, with media and manipulation, alliances and petty jealousies. ~ Kevin Spacey
Verse Iii quotes by Kevin Spacey
We need to be impressed with these words in verse [2 Cor. 1:]9 - "we should not base our confidence on ourselves but on God." Through the redemption of Christ, the very God, who is in the heavens, has come into us, into our spirit (Col. 1:27; 2 Tim. 4:22). Thank the Lord that He is now in our spirit, calling us to forget about the soulish things and turn to our spirit to meet Him. We should no longer trust in our self, in our soul, but in God who is in our spirit. ~ Witness Lee
Verse Iii quotes by Witness Lee
The people want to go back to the time when democracy was in full bloom. ~ Benigno Aquino III
Verse Iii quotes by Benigno Aquino III
I remove a lot of the pressure from myself by saying I'm not competing with my parents. They are the persons who taught me my ideology. They actively practiced what they preached. They're the exemplars and the role models. So how does one compete with a mentor? ~ Benigno Aquino III
Verse Iii quotes by Benigno Aquino III
I would like to offer a candidate to be added to the venerable list of English collective nouns: a scum of politicians. ~ John P. Wheeler III
Verse Iii quotes by John P. Wheeler III
Isn't it curious how one has only to open a book of verse to realise immediately that it was written by a very fine poet, or else that it was written by someone who is not a poet at all. In the case of the former, the lines, the images, though they are inherent in each other, leap up and give one this shock of delight. In the case of the latter, they lie flat on the page, never having lived. ~ Edith Sitwell
Verse Iii quotes by Edith Sitwell
We need to make sure that we have one another's back and recognize the fact that patriots come in all different sizes, shapes, colors, not all of them wear uniforms, some of them are employers, some of them are the family members who stay at home and take of business back here in the state of Oklahoma. ~ Harry M. Wyatt III
Verse Iii quotes by Harry M. Wyatt III
The Jews' guilt of the crucifixion of Jesus consigned them to perpetual servitude, and, like Cain, they are to be wanderers and fugitives. The Jews will not dare to raise their necks, bowed under the yoke of perpetual slavery, against the reverence of the Christian faith. ~ Pope Innocent III
Verse Iii quotes by Pope Innocent III
You always want to break away from your parents, and you always think, 'I'm never going to be like that guy.' What I've discovered is you kind of wind up becoming your parents, which is also a cliche in itself. My father, despite the fact that he's been dead for over 25 years, he's been a huge influence on me. ~ Loudon Wainwright III
Verse Iii quotes by Loudon Wainwright III
Adrienne Rich was one of the most widely-read and influential poets of her time, a leading feminist, known especially for her politically-engaged verse. Her best-known volume, "Diving into the Wreck," won the National Book Award in 1973. ~ Earl Scruggs
Verse Iii quotes by Earl Scruggs
I'm always studying. I probably wrote the most papers of any college quarterback. ~ Robert Griffin III
Verse Iii quotes by Robert Griffin III
Although I was born to famous parents, I know and feel the problems of ordinary citizens. ~ Benigno Aquino III
Verse Iii quotes by Benigno Aquino III
On the occasion of our anniversary

I.
This morning I googled
sings of domestic abuse
to remind myself I was right.
I still flich at slamming doors,
a broken dish, a white couch.
There are days I yell so loud
I swear it's your voice in my throat.

II.
I have learned
the world is the size of a fist,
lately an open palm. Whatever
corner
you've got yourself chained up,
you will read this.

Good. ~ Clementine Von Radics
Verse Iii quotes by Clementine Von Radics
Compared with my brother, I always felt like Richard III, some clever humpbacked thing who surpassed him in the end. He was the one who read books, but I became the writer. He painted and drew, but I was the one who got accepted by the High School of Music and Art. ~ Jerome Charyn
Verse Iii quotes by Jerome Charyn
The truth is not that the problem is the newsroom does not understand capitalism. The problem is that the front office does not understand journalism. The problem is not that the average reporter does not understand what it is that's necessary to make the payroll, to make the good edifice, to make the thing that he wants. It is that in fact those who control too many of the edifices have actually come to believe that Wall Street has wisdom, and that that wisdom should instruct our business. ~ Hodding Carter III
Verse Iii quotes by Hodding Carter III
Where in the Bible are we told in one verse not to do a thing and in the next to do it?

'Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.' Prov. xxvi. 4.

'Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.' Prov. xxvi. 5. ~ Samuel Grant Oliphant
Verse Iii quotes by Samuel Grant Oliphant
There's something about football that's exciting. The defense is trying to shut you down and you're trying to blow people up. ~ Robert Griffin III
Verse Iii quotes by Robert Griffin III
Make haste, Beloved, be thou like an hart On mountains spicy sweet; And I, on those High Places where thou art, Will follow on hinds' feet; As close behind the hart, there leaps the roe, So where thou goest, I will surely go. That, as perhaps you know, is the last verse of the Song of Songs, which is Solomon's. But for Grace and Glory it was the beginning of a new song altogether. ~ Hannah Hurnard
Verse Iii quotes by Hannah Hurnard
Love knows no limit to its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope; it can outlast anything. Love never fails.
[1 Cor. 13:7 - 8] ~ Anonymous
Verse Iii quotes by Anonymous
I seldom deal in symbolisms; if there be hidden meanings in my verse, they are there without my knowledge. ~ George Edward Woodberry
Verse Iii quotes by George Edward Woodberry
The Philippines is strategically located and blessed with the greatest resource: its people, who are hard-working, very loyal, and very adaptive. ~ Benigno Aquino III
Verse Iii quotes by Benigno Aquino III
By today's standards King George III was a very mild tyrant indeed. He taxed his American colonists at a rate of only pennies per annum. His actual impact on their personal lives was trivial. He had arbitrary power over them in law and in principle but in fact it was seldom exercised. If you compare his rule with that of today's U.S. Government you have to wonder why we celebrate our independence.. ~ Joseph Sobran
Verse Iii quotes by Joseph Sobran
Sitting makes us think of standing
Our current stance keeps on demanding
We wish to fly without the wings
Puppets move before pulling the strings ~ Munia Khan
Verse Iii quotes by Munia Khan
The ability to communicate is critical- clearly, frankly, and often. ~ James D. Robinson III
Verse Iii quotes by James D. Robinson III
Text of Sermon when Edward III ascended the throne, 1 Feb. 1327. Walsingham Vox Populi, vox Dei. The voice of the people, the voice of God. ~ Walter Reynolds
Verse Iii quotes by Walter Reynolds
When you are composing a verse, let there not be a hair's breadth separating your mind from what you write. Quickly say what is in your mind; never hesitate a moment. ~ Robert Hass
