A full-throttled deployment of the practices of strategic communication would kill candor and leave truth bereft to fend for herself in the backstabbing night of political bogeys. ~ Nick Bostrom
Strategic Communication quotes by Nick Bostrom
Business capabilities enable strategic communication and execution' it's part of art and part of science. ~ Pearl Zhu
Strategic Communication quotes by Pearl Zhu
Understand your audience and you will understand the impact of your message on each follower in your social media networks. ~ Matt Gentile
Strategic Communication quotes by Matt Gentile
All use of speech implies convention and therefore at least duality of minds. The problem of communication through language may in this light be seen as the search for the means supplied by the conventions (or code) to transmit a message from one mind to another. (This definition is as applicable to "literary" communication as it is to "non-literary.") ...Is the code exactly the same for transmitter and receiver? Indeed, can it ever be? It hardly seems likely, since in the strict sense no two people have ever acquired exactly the same code. Consequently, the correspondence between the writer's understand of his writing (I do not, of course, mean merely a conscious or reflective understanding) and the reader's understanding of it will be at least approximate. Another variable is the mental, emotional, and cultural constitution of the being who used the code to transmit a message, and of the being who decodes it. To what extent are they capable of understanding each other? To what extent will they be willing to cooperate in dealing with the inevitable problems in communication? To what extent will anticipated or actual reaction ("feedback") from the receiver affect the framing of the message? Perhaps more important than any of these variables, there is the as yet unresolved question of the very nature of language, and therefore of communication through language. What do agreed upon symbols stand for? Is it conceivable that they correspond to something objectively identifiable? ~ Robert Ellrich
Strategic Communication quotes by Robert Ellrich
Synchronicity is not a word we have grown up with. The concept may not be firmly in our minds, and because we don't have a label of mental framework for it, we may not notice it. Researchers in communication have found that when we lack a word for an object or a concept, we can't identify it - and this can happen in the most literal of ways. For instance, in China, there is only one word for red - and people literally do not distinguish between rose, crimson, pink, and scarlet. They lack the vocabulary and therefore the perception that red comes in more than once shade. ~ Flowerpower.com
Strategic Communication quotes by Flowerpower.com
The powerful notion of entropy, which comes from a very special branch of physics ... is certainly useful in the study of communication and quite helpful when applied in the theory of language. ~ J. Robert Oppenheimer
Strategic Communication quotes by J. Robert Oppenheimer
Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back -
Holden: If the buzz is any indicator, that movie's gonna make some huge bank.

Jay: What buzz?

Holden: The Internet buzz.

Jay: What the fuck is the Internet?

Holden: The Internet is a communication tool used the world over where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another. ~ Jason Mewes
Strategic Communication quotes by Jason Mewes
We have this terrible struggle to try to explain things to people who have no reason to want to know. ~ Richard P. Feynman
Strategic Communication quotes by Richard P. Feynman
Miscommunication is the scandal that motivates the very concept of communication in the first place. ~ John Durham Peters
Strategic Communication quotes by John Durham Peters
Iran has little capacity to deploy force. Its strategic doctrines are defensive, designed to deter invasion long enough for diplomacy to set it. ~ Noam Chomsky
Strategic Communication quotes by Noam Chomsky
Critics have stepped up their attacks on the President for authorizing the National Security Agency to listen to international communications of known al Qaeda members or affiliated terrorists during a time of war. The American people expect their leaders to stay a step ahead of the enemy, and the National Security Agency authorization is a critical tool in the War on Terror that saves lives and protects civil liberties at the same time. ~ Scott McClellan
Strategic Communication quotes by Scott McClellan
I used to love to hear stories of that man's exploits! One of my heroes, when I was young. Riding round the enemy, harassing his lines of communication, falling on the baggage train and whatnot.
The Prince's riding crop rode around, harassed, and fell on imaginary baggage in the air before him. ~ Joe Abercrombie
Strategic Communication quotes by Joe Abercrombie
That books, a commodity little changed since Caxton's day, should have turned out to be the trailblazers of retailing on the internet is one of the stranger cultural ironies of our time. If you've bought one thing on the net, the newest and most prodigiously high-tech communications system imaginable, then it is almost certain to be a book, the oldest and simplest. ~ Bryan Appleyard
Strategic Communication quotes by Bryan Appleyard
To seduce most anyone, ask for and listen to his opinion. ~ Malcolm Forbes
Strategic Communication quotes by Malcolm Forbes
Hatred always involves a painful sense of separation from love, which may be idealized. A person you feel strongly against at any given time upsets you because he or she does not live up to your expectations. The higher your expectations the greater any divergence from them seems. If you hate a parent it is precisely because you expect such love. A person from whom you expect nothing will never earn your bitterness.

In a strange manner, hatred is a means of returning to love; and left alone and expressed it is meant to communicate a separation that exists in relation to what is expected.

Love, therefore, can contain hate very nicely. Hatred can contain love and be driven by it, particularly an idealized love. You "hate" something that separates you from a loved object. It is precisely because the object is so loved that it is so disliked if expectations are not met. You may love a parent, and if the parent does not seem to return the love and denies your expectations, then you may "hate" the same parent because of the love that leads you to expect more. The hatred is meant to get your love back. It is supposed to lead to a communication from you, stating your feelings - clearing the air, so to speak, and bringing you closer to the love object. Hatred is not the denial of love, then, but an attempt to regain it, and a painful recognition of circumstances that separate you from it. -- ~ Jane Roberts
Strategic Communication quotes by Jane Roberts
Art is a technique of communication. The image is the most complete technique of all communication. ~ Claes Oldenburg
Strategic Communication quotes by Claes Oldenburg
It usually takes me more than three weeks to prepare a good impromptu speech. ~ Mark Twain
Strategic Communication quotes by Mark Twain
Emotionally intelligent people have an ability to manage stress as it happens and remain calm through chaos. ~ Susan C. Young
Strategic Communication quotes by Susan C. Young
Instead of making others right or wrong, or bottling up right and wrong in ourselves, there's a middle way, a very powerful middle way ... Could we have no agenda when we walk into a room with another person, not know what to say, not make that person wrong or right? Could we see, hear, feel other people as they really are? It is powerful to practice this way ... true communication can happen only in that open space. ~ Pema Chodron
Strategic Communication quotes by Pema Chodron
Finally, I would like to point out that now in the age of English, choosing a language policy is not the exclusive concern of non-English-speaking nations. It is also a concern for English-speaking nations, where, to realize the world's diversity and gain the humility that is proper to any human being, people need to learn a foreign language as a matter of course. Acquiring a foreign language should be a universal requirement of compulsory education. Furthermore, English expressions used in international conferences should be regulated and standardized to some extent. Native English speakers need to know that to foreigners, Latinate vocabulary is easier to understand than what to the native speakers is easy, child-friendly language. At international conferences, telling jokes that none but native speakers can comprehend is inappropriate, even if fun. If native speakers of English – those who enjoy the privilege of having their mother tongue as the universal language – would not wait for others to protest but would take steps to regulate themselves, what respect they would earn from the rest of the world! If that is too much to ask, the rest of the world would appreciate it if they would at least be aware of their privileged position – and more important, be aware that the privilege is unwarranted. In this age of global communication, some language or other was bound to be come a universal language used in every corner of the world English became that language not because it i ~ Minae Mizumura
Strategic Communication quotes by Minae Mizumura
Music is the most powerful form of communication in the world. It brings us all together. Even religion separates us, but a hit record unites us across religious beliefs, race, politics. ~ Sean Combs
Strategic Communication quotes by Sean Combs
We advance in years somewhat in the manner of an invading army in a barren land; the age that we have reached, as the saying goes, we but hold with an outpost, and still keep open communications with the extreme rear and first beginnings of the march. ~ Robert Louis Stevenson
Strategic Communication quotes by Robert Louis Stevenson
For millions of years, man spoke only to what he could see. Suddenly, in just one decade, 'seeing' and 'speaking' have been separated. We think we're used to it, yet we don't realize the immense impact it's had on our reflexes. Our bodies are simply not used to it.

Frankly, the result is that, when we talk on the telephone, we enter a state that is similar to certain magical trances; we can discover other things about ourselves. ~ Paulo Coelho
Strategic Communication quotes by Paulo Coelho
We don't need better emotional communication from machines. We need people to have more empathy. The reason the Uncanny Valley exists is because humans created it to put other people into. It's how we justify killing each other. ~ Charlie Jane Anders
Strategic Communication quotes by Charlie Jane Anders
Communication ... it is a difficult optimisation. Structurally, it gets founded over words, organised around thoughts. Words are difficult to come through, successfully, amid the thought process. The thought process in right manifestation gives rise to communication. ~ Priyavrat Thareja
Strategic Communication quotes by Priyavrat Thareja
Our personal past is only available to us now through black-and-white film, it's a medium for communication with the dead, including our dead selves, the way we used to be, which is why we're drawn to it. ~ Frank Lentricchia
Strategic Communication quotes by Frank Lentricchia
It's funny but when young people say to me "what can I study to be a force for change, should I study law or biology or business?" My answer is music, drama, journalism, communications. ~ Paul Watson
Strategic Communication quotes by Paul Watson
Language is the principal tool with which we communicate; but when words are used carelessly or mistakenly, what was intended to advance mutual understanding may in fact hinder it; our instrument becomes our burden ~ Irving Copi
Strategic Communication quotes by Irving Copi
Sometimes a sense should be added to the most senseless conversation to make it sensible for the involved parties to sense something profitable in return. ~ Shahenshah Hafeez Khan
Strategic Communication quotes by Shahenshah Hafeez Khan
More than one branch of the avant-garde, claiming to break with the bourgeois vision and mode of production, remains tied to it in spite of its denials and ex-communications. We are far from having overcome bourgeois thought or practices, despite the socialist "intermission" between the Russian revolution and the collapse of the Berlin wall. The avant-garde has lost its radical nature. On the other hand, "bourgeois theatre" is sometimes subtle enough to flirt with the avant-garde or to make "intelligent boulevard theatre. ~ Patrice Pavis
Strategic Communication quotes by Patrice Pavis
My primary objective is to encourage dialogue between all Christians, both Jew and Gentile, and to open more lines of communication with Jews who still have yet to accept Jesus of Nazareth as their Messiah. ~ James Mikolajczyk
Strategic Communication quotes by James Mikolajczyk
We had an unspoken love for one another. Probably because she'd never talk to me or return my phone calls or texts. ~ Dark Jar Tin Zoo
Strategic Communication quotes by Dark Jar Tin Zoo
We need continuing communication from god. One stream of light is not enough. ~ Henry B. Eyring
Strategic Communication quotes by Henry B. Eyring
James Gordon Bennett said he aimed to be, "serious in my aims but full of frolic in my means. ~ Harold Holzer
Strategic Communication quotes by Harold Holzer
Most change strategy models are not very strategic – change strategy is an important lynchpin between business strategy and change tactics. ~ Paul Gibbons
Strategic Communication quotes by Paul Gibbons
Never mistake legibility for communication. ~ David Carson
Strategic Communication quotes by David Carson
What is basic guerilla strategy? Guerilla strategy must be based primarily on alertness, mobility, and attack. It must be adjusted to the enemy situation, the terrain, the existing lines of communication, the relative strengths, the weather, and the situation of the people. ~ Mao Zedong
Strategic Communication quotes by Mao Zedong
When neurons "talk" to each other clearly, our brain is able to make sense of our lives. We make our wisest decisions when there is nothing obstructing these lines of communication. ~ Toni Sorenson
Strategic Communication quotes by Toni Sorenson
Relying on hard data, committing to open and democratic communication, acknowledging fallibility: these are the central tenets of any system that aims to protect us from error. They are also markedly different from how we normally think - from our often hasty and asymmetric treatment of evidence, from the cloistering effects of insular communities, and from our instinctive recourse to defensiveness and denial. ~ Kathryn Schulz
Strategic Communication quotes by Kathryn Schulz
In addition to wreaking havoc on our bodies, anger close our inner door, making us feel isolated and distrustful, hindering communication. ~ Bill Vaughan
Strategic Communication quotes by Bill Vaughan
To truly love ourselves, we must challenge our beliefs that we need to be different or better. ~ Sharon Salzberg
Strategic Communication quotes by Sharon Salzberg
A reason to have computers understand natural language is that it's an extremely effective way of communicating. What I came to realize is that the success of the communication depends on the real intelligence on the part of the listener, and that there are many other ways of communicating with a computer that can be more effective, given that it doesn't have the intelligence. ~ Terry Winograd
Strategic Communication quotes by Terry Winograd
We cannot feel strongly toward the totally unlike because it is unimaginable, unrealizable; nor yet toward the wholly like because it is stale - identity must always be dull company. The power of other natures over us lies in a stimulating difference which causes excitement and opens communication, in ideas similar to our own but not identical, in states of mind attainable but not actual. ~ Charles Horton Cooley
Strategic Communication quotes by Charles Horton Cooley
The internet is fracturing into a series of huge country-based intranets, in which governments define, in the name of security, what is legitimate personal and intellectual communication, and what is not. ~ Misha Glenny
Strategic Communication quotes by Misha Glenny
I'm self-sufficient. I spend a lot of time on my own and I shut off quite easily. When I communicate, I communicate 900 per cent, then I shut off, which scares people sometimes. ~ Bjork
Strategic Communication quotes by Bjork
The person who is the star of previous era is often the last one to adapt to change, the last one to yield to logic of a strategic inflection point and tends to fall harder than most. ~ Andrew S. Grove
Strategic Communication quotes by Andrew S. Grove
Sometimes there are not the right words for my thoughts. Speech feels like it's not a natural way to communicate. This is when typing the words makes my thoughts come out easier. ~ Tina J. Richardson
