In the end, maybe love just meant longing for something impossibly bright and forever out of reach. ~ Leigh Bardugo
Maybe Love quotes by Leigh Bardugo
Hypothetically, then, you may be picking up in someone a certain very strange type of sadness that appears as a kind of disassociation from itself, maybe, Love-o.'
'I don't know disassociation.'
'Well, love, but you know the idiom "not yourself" - "He's not himself today," for example,' crooking and uncrooking fingers to form quotes on either side of what she says, which Mario adores. 'There are, apparently, persons who are deeply afraid of their own emotions, particularly the painful ones. Grief, regret, sadness. Sadness especially, perhaps. Dolores describes these persons as afraid of obliteration, emotional engulfment. As if something truly and thoroughly felt would have no end or bottom. Would become infinite and engulf them.'
'Engulf means obliterate.'
'I am saying that such persons usually have a very fragile sense of themselves as persons. As existing at all. This interpretation is "existential," Mario, which means vague and slightly flaky. But I think it may hold true in certain cases. My own father told stories of his own father, whose potato farm had been in St. Pamphile and very much larger than my father's. My grandfather had had a marvelous harvest one season, and he wanted to invest money. This was in the early 1920s, when there was a great deal of money to be made on upstart companies and new American products. He apparently narrowed the field to two choices - Delaware-brand Punch, or an obscure sweet fizzy coffee substitute that sold ou ~ David Foster Wallace
Maybe Love quotes by David Foster Wallace
We talked and talked and talked. Maybe love comes in at the eyes, but not nearly as much as it comes in at the ears, at least in my experience. As we talked, lights flicked on inside my head; by the end of the night I was a planterium. ~ Marisa De Los Santos
Maybe Love quotes by Marisa De Los Santos
I sometimes questioned the plausibility of two people so deeply in love ending up as mortal enemies. Maybe love was just the larval stage of hate, the comely caterpillar in advance of the hideous butterfly. ~ Maurice Carlos Ruffin
Maybe Love quotes by Maurice Carlos Ruffin
If there's any answer, maybe love can end the madness
Maybe not, oh, but we can only try. ~ Carole King
Maybe Love quotes by Carole King
Maybe love isn't meant to be bliss never-ending.
Maybe love is unwavering support and befriending. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Maybe Love quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
Maybe love is something we're meant to say casually and not regard as a prize from a treasure chest that a person earns. ~ Jen Glantz
Maybe Love quotes by Jen Glantz
Maybe love is like luck. You have to go all the way to find it. ~ Robert Mitchum
Maybe Love quotes by Robert Mitchum
Not a specific song. What I do maybe love above all about Nick Cave is how he's created this universe, this world, where there are all these characters and songs and themes. It's very unique, and I appreciate it. It's very hard to say that I have a specific favourite; I just actually love everything that he does. ~ Mirel Wagner
Maybe Love quotes by Mirel Wagner
Maybe love made you kiss all messy. Maybe love made you hungry for faces. ~ J.M. Darhower
Maybe Love quotes by J.M. Darhower
I crumple onto the lounger and cry again even though I didn't think I had any tears left. And then Dante is next to me, with his wet arms around me and he's whispering in my ear.
And the huskiness of his voice.
The smell of his wet skin.
The beating of his heart against my hand.
All of it.
I don't want to be without him.
Maybe he's right. Maybe love is all that matters. And we can get through our differences. We can get through anything.
And then he's kissing me.
And I'm letting him.
And I'm kissing him back.
Because I love him and he loves me and Elena Kontou doesn't matter.
Dante's hands are all over me, warm and strong and I lean into him, into his warmth, his strength. It's still raining, but we are kissing in the rain and it's sexy as hell. In fact, I think I'll kiss in the rain forever. For the rest of my life. Because it's just that sexy. ~ Courtney Cole
Maybe Love quotes by Courtney Cole
Maybe love doesn't require falling after all. Maybe it only requires that you choose to be in it. I wasn't sure what was going to happen with us or how much time we had left, but I wasn't going to waste a second of it. ~ Shaun David Hutchinson
Maybe Love quotes by Shaun David Hutchinson
I remember when I saw Peter Pan when I was little. After all the other kids wanted to reenact the battles of the lost boys, pirates, and Indians, and all I could think about was the part where Peter Pan sits still while Wendy takes a sharp needle and, with concern and maybe love, sews his shadow onto his feet. And I wonder if the pain excited him as much as it excited me to watch. I hang here, the voices still bleeding in my ears. I watch my shadow, solid like a murdered body's outline, and I pray. Maybe one more slice, just one more, will sever it forever. ~ J.T. LeRoy
Maybe Love quotes by J.T. LeRoy
You're the one I like. Maybe love. ~ Jenna Evans Welch
Maybe Love quotes by Jenna Evans Welch
Maybe love was lying to yourself. ~ Lauren Kate
Maybe Love quotes by Lauren Kate
Maybe
maybe love makes you suspicious and doubting. Is it true that when you love a woman you are never sure
never sure of her because you aren't sure of yourself? ~ John Steinbeck
Maybe Love quotes by John Steinbeck
I felt terrible. The poor had a right to fuck their way through their bad dreams. Sex and drink, and maybe love, was all they had. ~ Charles Bukowski
Maybe Love quotes by Charles Bukowski
...somewhere in that intersection of broken hearts and shattered souls... broken is not the end of things, but the beginning. Maybe broken is what happens before you become unbroken. What's more, maybe our broken pieces don't fit us... maybe my pieces are the very pieces needed to mend you and your pieces are the very pieces needed to mend me, but until we've been broken we don't have the pieces to mend each other. Maybe in the offering we discover the meaning, and value of being broken. Maybe...somewhere on the planet is another somebody standing around holding a bag of all the jagged, painful pieces of themselves and they can't get whole without you... Maybe love, the real kind, the kind only wished for in whispers and the kind our hearts are hardwired to want, is opening up the bag of you... And what's more, they don't cost you anything. They're free. I paid for them in the breaking... And because you're desperate, and you've tried most everything else, you empty my bag across the floor... and...find the one piece you've been missing... And when you insert that piece into the puzzle that had become you, it stops the hemorrhage, and for the first time in maybe your whole life, the wound starts to heal. ~ Charles Martin
Maybe Love quotes by Charles Martin
There are all these relationships that are like cookie cutter shapes; identical and repetitive. Then there are all these relationships that aren't even relationships! Just facades for show and tell. But every once and a while, you'll see this bird breaking out of this cage and it's so weird and it's so obscure and you've hardly ever seen it before so you don't even know at first if you should name it Ugly or Beautiful! Relationships, stories of love, that just shatter the walls around the mind. They made it. They broke through. Like Ugly-Beautiful birds bursting forth from rusty cages! And then suddenly you stop and you think to yourself, "Maybe love really is real. ~ C. JoyBell C.
Maybe Love quotes by C. JoyBell C.
Maybe love, unfathomable love, was too much for people, so they had traded it for something easier. ~ Gwenn Wright
Maybe Love quotes by Gwenn Wright
Maybe love is like rain. Sometimes gentle, sometimes torrential, flooding, eroding, joyful, steady, filling the earth, collecting in underground springs. When it rains, when we love, life grows. ~ Carol Gilligan
Maybe Love quotes by Carol Gilligan
My painting is not violent, it's life that is violent. Even within the most beautiful landscape, in the trees, under the leaves, the insects are eating each other; violence is a part of life. We are born with a scream; we come into life with a scream and maybe love is a mosquito net between the fear of living and the fear of death. ~ Francis Bacon
Maybe Love quotes by Francis Bacon
My grandfather played a mandolin, so I got my hands on that. Then on down to a banjo, and I found I couldn't play any kind of soft or mournful music with that so I took up the fiddle in my late 20s or early 30s - and that was far too late. But it keeps me off the streets. It has been a love of mine since I was 17 maybe. ~ Brendan Gleeson
Maybe Love quotes by Brendan Gleeson
Maybe love was easy, she thought. Maybe her past wasn't vital as her present, she thought. But then she heard her father say that she'd broken his heart, and she could no longer believe that either thought was true. ~ Marie Rutkoski
Maybe Love quotes by Marie Rutkoski
Maybe love was a myth anyhow, a brew of hormones and fantasy, evolution's way of getting men and women together long enough for them to procreate, back in the day when girls got pregnant at twelve, were pregnant or nursing for the next twenty years, and were dead of the plague by forty. ~ Jennifer Weiner
Maybe Love quotes by Jennifer Weiner
We think we want all the time in the world with the people we love, but maybe what we need is the opposite. Just a finite amount of time, so we still think the other person is interesting. Maybe we don't need acts two and three. Maybe love is best in act one. ~ Nicola Yoon
Maybe Love quotes by Nicola Yoon
Love makes you want to be a better man - right, right. But maybe love, real love, also gives you permission to just be the man you are. ~ Gillian Flynn
Maybe Love quotes by Gillian Flynn
But maybe love doesn't have to be about lust, maybe I could learn to love, maybe. ~ Jane Green
Maybe Love quotes by Jane Green
What is Love? perhaps we may find that love is the ability of someone to give us back to us. Maybe love is someone seeing and remembering, handing us back to ourselves just a trifle better than we had dared to hope or dream... ~ Ray Bradbury
Maybe Love quotes by Ray Bradbury
Maybe love was no match for ice ... but Piper had used it to wake a metal dragon. Mortals did superhuman feats in the name of love all the time. Mothers lifted cars to save their children. And Piper was more than just a mortal. She was a demigod. A hero.
The ice melted on her blade. Her arm steamed under Khione's grip.
'Still underestimating me,' Piper told the goddess. 'You really need to work on that. ~ Rick Riordan
Maybe Love quotes by Rick Riordan
Maybe love was superstition, a prayer we said to keep the truth of loneliness at bay. ~ Leigh Bardugo
Maybe Love quotes by Leigh Bardugo
Maybe, love is always forgiveness, to a degree. ~ Joyce Carol Oates
Maybe Love quotes by Joyce Carol Oates
Maybe love could just be a moment, the kind that teaches rather than robs. ~ R.K. Ryals
Maybe Love quotes by R.K. Ryals
Maybe love was a woman feeding him pancakes. Maybe it was someone sitting across from him sipping orange juice just to please him. ~ Christine Feehan
Maybe Love quotes by Christine Feehan
Millions of books written on every conceivable subject by all these great minds and in the end, none of them knows anything more about the big questions of life than I do ... I read Socrates. This guy knocked off little Greek boys. What the Hell's he got to teach me? And Nietzsche, with his theory of eternal recurrence. He said that the life we lived we're gonna live over again the exact same way for eternity. Great. That means I'll have to sit through the Ice Capades again. It's not worth it. And Freud, another great pessimist. I was in analysis for years and nothing happened. My poor analyst got so frustrated, the guy finally put in a salad bar. Maybe the poets are right. Maybe love is the only answer. ~ Woody Allen
Maybe Love quotes by Woody Allen
I like to be just an athlete, but if I go to competition and compete, I love to be a star, maybe. ~ Kim Yuna
Maybe Love quotes by Kim Yuna
Maybe love isn't just
a bouquet of roses once in a while. Maybe it's just sticking it out, when it's hard, when you're mad, when
you're tired. ~ Kristan Higgins
Maybe Love quotes by Kristan Higgins
But that night I thought, in the simplest of terms, maybe love was not wanting to say goodbye. ~ Jeannine Allison
Maybe Love quotes by Jeannine Allison
Maybe love is like a pendulum. It swings back and forth, slowly, steadily, and sometimes you don't know where it will come to rest. ~ Tracey Garvis-Graves
Maybe Love quotes by Tracey Garvis-Graves
Tomorrow maybe love; but now it is the rain
Possesses us entirely, the twilight and the rain. ~ Alun Lewis
Maybe Love quotes by Alun Lewis
Then Olivia came back. She came back, dancing like a siren. I knew exactly what she was doing the night she came to my frat house and cocked her finger at me from the dance floor. If she hadn't come to me, I would have gone to her. Forget all you know - I said to myself. This is the one you belong with. I don't know how I knew that. Maybe our souls touched underneath that tree. Maybe I decided to love her. Maybe love wasn't our choice. But when I looked at that woman, I saw myself differently. And it wasn't in a good light. Not a thing would keep me from her. And that could make a person do things they never thought themselves capable of. What I felt for her scared the hell out of me. It was a consuming obsession.
In truth, I'd barely touched on the obsession. That was still coming. ~ Tarryn Fisher
Maybe Love quotes by Tarryn Fisher
Maybe our souls touched underneath that tree. Maybe I decided to love her. Maybe love wasn't our choice. But when I looked at that woman, I saw myself differently. ~ Tarryn Fisher
Maybe Love quotes by Tarryn Fisher
Who knows? Maybe they're right. Maybe we are driven crazy by our feelings. Maybe love is a disease, and we would be better off without it.
But we have chosen a different road. And in the end that is the point of escaping the cure: We are free to choose.
We are even free to choose the wrong thing. ~ Lauren Oliver
Maybe Love quotes by Lauren Oliver
Why does the longing for love have to be so acute, like a desperate thirst? Is it because love is wanting to be saved and we can never really be saved? Maybe love is really born of our fears. Love is the heart's desire for a painkiller; a tearful plea for a great big epidural. Yes that's it: love is the only anesthesia that really works. And so people with broken hearts are really those who are just coming to, and if you've ever seen someone come out of general anesthesia, you know that it looks a lot like the beginnings of a broken heart. ~ Jonathan Hull
Maybe Love quotes by Jonathan Hull
Maybe love is just about finding the person you can be your weird self with. ~ Matt Haig
Maybe Love quotes by Matt Haig
Love didn't end all at once, no matter how much you needed it to or how inconvenient it was. You couldn't command love to stop any more than a marriage document could order it to appear. Maybe love had to bleed away a drop at a time until your heart was numb and cold and mostly dead. ~ Mary E. Pearson
Maybe Love quotes by Mary E. Pearson
And maybe love is terrifying. I'm terrified now, but not in the way she would think.
I'm terrified because I hate who she is and what she's done, I do, and yet there is still something strong and powerful between us, some kind of deep, primal bond that won't end, won't snap or break or change, it just remains there inside me, as sold and factual as my blood and bones - she is my mother, I am her daughter - and I don't know what to call it because it doesn't feel like love, not the good kind I felt for Ellie, with all my heart, but instead an instinctual pull that's been there from the beginning, drawing me back to her again and again, the woman who has hurt me like no one else ever could, and now she's dying and the bond is still here, inside me, and I won't call it love or hate because emotions has nothing to do with the fact that she is my mother and I am her daughter, and we will be connected in that way forever. ~ Laura Wiess
Maybe Love quotes by Laura Wiess
Maybe love, at its essence, is being a mirror for another person - for the good parts and the bad. Perhaps love is simply finding that one person who sees you clearly, cares for you deeply, challenges you and supports you, and subsequently helps you see and be your true self. ~ Penny Reid
Maybe Love quotes by Penny Reid
I know not every family is the same. We all have different personalities and names. Different colors in a box of crayons. Different shades in a box of graphites. And maybe love looks different to different people, the same way beauty looks different.

But the kind of love I need isn't the kind I have. I guess I'm still trying to find a way to be okay with that. ~ Akemi Dawn Bowman
Maybe Love quotes by Akemi Dawn Bowman
Oh I don't know,' he said. 'But maybe, maybe love should be a kind of journey ~ Anthony McDonald
Maybe Love quotes by Anthony McDonald
Maybe love comes in at the eyes, but not nearly as much as it comes in at the ears... ~ Marisa De Los Santos
Maybe Love quotes by Marisa De Los Santos
Pity is an emotion that can get you killed. The only thing more dangerous is blind hate, and maybe love. ~ Laurell K. Hamilton
Maybe Love quotes by Laurell K. Hamilton
Maybe love is just that, and only that. The choice you make. And so, you choose to love. You choose to give it all up, to surrender your scared self and live in this mystery. Jik ~ Maria Dahvana Headley
Maybe Love quotes by Maria Dahvana Headley
Maybe love won't let you down. All of your failures are training grounds and just as your back's turned you'll be surprised ... as your solitude subsides . ~ William Shakespeare
Maybe Love quotes by William Shakespeare
I see that children fill the existential hollowness many people feel; that when we have children, we know they will need us, and maybe love us, but we don't have a clue how hard it is going to be. ~ Anne Lamott
Maybe Love quotes by Anne Lamott
She supposed faeries had never adopted the human ideas of giving each other space and having time to get over relationships.

And maybe they were stupid ideas. Maybe love was love and you should take it when you found it. ~ Cassandra Clare
Maybe Love quotes by Cassandra Clare
He was thinking that maybe love was like starting a fire with two sticks. You've always heard that it's possible, but how likely is it? ~ Lynne Rae Perkins
Maybe Love quotes by Lynne Rae Perkins
Maybe love is just hormones or endorphins - not some great force all around us. Maybe that's just nonsense. It's always seemed to me that love is about being found - the way you might find your missing cat because you knew he had a notch on his left ear and came to the sound of knew he had a notch on his left ear and came to the sound of pebbles rattling in a can. But maybe that isn't the way things work. Maybe you can only be "found" for a little while. Just like
Joseph and Isuza LaRonge discovered, "forever" isn't really forever. Everything ends. Everything is lost eventually. ~ Katherine Grace Bond
Maybe Love quotes by Katherine Grace Bond
Or maybe love is never healthy, and we should guard our hearts in hospitals for preemptive healing. ~ Riley Redgate
Maybe Love quotes by Riley Redgate
Maybe hope isn't the most dangerous thing a person can have. Maybe love is. ~ Lauren DeStefano
Maybe Love quotes by Lauren DeStefano
Maybe love isn't something that comes full circle. It just ebbs and flows, in and out, just like the people in our lives ~ Colleen Hoover
Maybe Love quotes by Colleen Hoover
If people were mindless instead of heartless, maybe love would be easier. ~ VaeEshia Ratcliff-Davis
Maybe Love quotes by VaeEshia Ratcliff-Davis
And maybe – maybe – love will arrive, and remain. ~ Michael Cunningham
Maybe Love quotes by Michael Cunningham
Maybe love is like
a monsoon rain.
When it rains
really hard and heavy,
it seems like
it will never end
and we'll swim in mud
forever.
But then the wind shifts
and the earth grows
dry and cracked.
Every gurgle and ooze
tiptoes away
and we're left wishing
and waiting
for rain again.
Maybe love is like that.
Maybe the wind shifts
and love just tiptoes away. ~ Ann E. Burg
Maybe Love quotes by Ann E. Burg
But you said you did not love our father. How can you have faith in him if you didn't love him?"
"Maybe that's the reason," Adam said slowly, feeling his way. "Maybe if I had loved him I would have been jealous of him. You were. Maybe - maybe love makes you suspicious and doubting. Is it true that when you love a woman you are never sure - never sure of her because you aren't sure of yourself? I can see it pretty clearly. I can see how you loved him and what it did to you. I did not love him. Maybe he loved me. He tested me and hurt me and punished me and finally he sent me out like a sacrifice, maybe to make up for something. But he did not love you, and so he had faith in you. Maybe - why, maybe it's a kind of reverse. ~ John Steinbeck
Maybe Love quotes by John Steinbeck
Imagine the terrestrial timespan as an outstretched arm: a single swipe of an emery-board, across the nail of the third finger, erases human history. We haven't been around for very long. And we've turned the earth's hair white. Sh e seemed to have eternal youth but now she's ageing awful fast, like an addict, like a waxless candle. Jesus, have you seen her recently? we used to live and die without any sense of the planet getting older, of mother earth getting older, living and dying. We used to live outside history. But now we're all coterminous. We're inside history now all right, on its leading edge, with the wind ripping past our ears. Hard to love, when you're bracing yourself for impact. And maybe love can't bear it either, and flees all planets when they reach this condition, when they get to the end of their twentieth centuries. ~ Martin Amis
Maybe Love quotes by Martin Amis
Maybe love was nothing more than finding someone who loved the exact things that you did. ~ Durjoy Datta
Maybe Love quotes by Durjoy Datta
I think maybe love can just ... dissolve."
"No, it does not," her mother said.
"So how do
"
"You hang on," her mother said. "Until your hands are bleeding, and still you do not let go. ~ Kristin Hannah
Maybe Love quotes by Kristin Hannah
Her whole life she always pictured falling in love being full of nervous emotion, peaks of romance, and the excitement of wondering if he loved her as much as she loved him. But maybe love was simpler. Maybe true love was finding someone you could talk to with ease, whose heart cared for the same things, and whose dreams could meld with your own. ~ Tricia Goyer
Maybe Love quotes by Tricia Goyer
Maybe love bore fruit even more poisonous than fear. ~ Cornelia Funke
Maybe Love quotes by Cornelia Funke
maybe love itself is a paradox, a figment of our collective imaginations! ~ Suzette Francis
Maybe Love quotes by Suzette Francis
I know that there will be other women, but they couldn't compare. Maybe I'll change, maybe love will change, but I think we were a once-in-a-lifetime. You could never leave me; that's why I am not more upset. You can't possibly break these feelings. They stretch, and they last. ~ Jodi Picoult
Maybe Love quotes by Jodi Picoult
Compassion is like mother giving love to her children. Mother's ways are higher than others, even when everyone rejects, mother accepts with her arms open and wide. ~ Amit Ray
Maybe Love quotes by Amit Ray
Dear God, Please teach me to forgive myself and others. Remove the walls that keep love out, behind which I am a prisoner. Heal my guilt and remove my anger, that I might be reborn. Make gentle my heart and strong my spirit and show me how to love. Please show me how to honor myself. Please teach me how to listen to myself.
Please program my mind to know itself, that I might at last be free. Teach me to appreciate your spirit that lives within me. Show me how to be good to myself, that I might know more fully the goodness of life. Amen ~ Marianne Williamson
Maybe Love quotes by Marianne Williamson
In the final analysis, the question of why bad things happen to good people translates itself into some very different questions, no longer asking why something happened, but asking how we will respond, what we intend to do now that it has happened.
Are you capable of forgiving and accepting in love a world which has disappointed you by not being perfect, a world in which there is so much unfairness and cruelty, disease and crime, earthquake and accident? Can you forgive its imperfections and love it because it is capable of containing great beauty and goodness, and because it is the only world we have?
Are you capable of forgiving and loving the people around you, even if they have hurt you and let you down by not being perfect? Can you forgive them and love them, because there aren't any perfect people around, and because the penalty for not being able to love imperfect people is condemning oneself to loneliness?
Are you capable of forgiving and loving God even when you have found out that He is not prefect, even when He has let you down and disappointed you by permitting bad luck and sickness and cruelty in His world, and permitting some of those things to happen to you? Can you learn to love and forgive Him despite His limitations, as Job does, and as you once learned to forgive and love your parents even though they were not as wise, as strong, or as perfect as you needed them to be?
And if you can do these things, will you be able to recognize that t ~ Harold S. Kushner
Maybe Love quotes by Harold S. Kushner
Why does Paul spell it out, calling us to consider the width and breadth and depth and height of Christ's love? He is proposing a way to meditate and inviting us to do it. Let's take up his invitation. How wide is the love of God? Think of Isaiah 1:18: "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." Scarlet is the color of blood. This was God's way of saying through Isaiah, "Even if you have killed somebody, even if you have blood-guilt, blood on your hands, my love is wide enough to enfold and embrace you. It doesn't matter who you are or what you have done. It doesn't matter if you have killed people. If Jesus Christ died on the cross so that you are saved by grace alone, then my love is infinitely wide. It is wide enough for you. ~ Timothy Keller
Maybe Love quotes by Timothy Keller
You should do whatever feels right in your deepest heart. Feel deep as consciousness, open as water, now, and feel how to live with a wide-open heart. Feel how to live as love without bondage. ~ David Deida
Maybe Love quotes by David Deida
When one loves knowingly, when one loves consciously, with full knowledge, with full understanding, the delights of a person in love are nothing in comparison with the delights of love that sprouts only from the spirit. ~ Judas Iscariot The Flight Of The Feathered Serpent
Maybe Love quotes by Judas Iscariot The Flight Of The Feathered Serpent
Little world, full of little people
shouting for recognition, screaming for love,
Rolling world, teeming with millions,
carousel of the hungry,
Is there food enough? Wheat and corn will not do.
The fat are the hungriest of all, the skinny the most silent. ~ James Kavanaugh
Maybe Love quotes by James Kavanaugh
After the temper subsides and one has a moment to calmly reflect, it isn't uncommon for declarations shouted in a fit of rage to strike one as untrue, and because they may have been hurtful to family, friends, lovers, husbands, or wives, one wishes them unsaid. ~ Frank Beddor
Maybe Love quotes by Frank Beddor
I believe in true love. But I am easily satisfied. ~ Miguel De Icaza
Maybe Love quotes by Miguel De Icaza
So you do believe in ... true love? she whispered.
I took a deep breath, I think I have to, I said, blinking back tears. Without it, we're all going nowhere. ~ Juliet Marillier
Maybe Love quotes by Juliet Marillier
Real love doesn't die. It's the physical body that dies. Genuine, authentic love has no expectations whatsoever; it doesn't even need the physical presence of a person ... Even when he is dead and buried that part of you that loves the person will always live. ~ Elisabeth Kubler Ross
Maybe Love quotes by Elisabeth Kubler Ross
I smiled as I leaned in, pressing my forehead against his. I was brave, and I had my entire life to be brave. I love you, I whispered.

Ren's lips curved into a grin against mine. Prove it. ~ Jennifer L. Armentrout
Maybe Love quotes by Jennifer L. Armentrout
In our blessed and mostly peaceful society we're not as familiar with courage as we once were. We ascribe the virtue to all manner of endeavors that only really require skill, fortitude and a little daring, the qualities Pat Tillman showed on the football field. Pat's best service to his country was to remind us all what courage really looks like, and that the purpose of all good courage is love. ~ John McCain
Maybe Love quotes by John McCain
There's no text that can replace a loving touch when someone we love is hurting. ~ Ashton Kutcher
Maybe Love quotes by Ashton Kutcher
In starlit nights I saw you,
So cruelly you kissed me.
Your lips a magic world,
Your sky all hung with jewels.
The killing moon
Will come too soon.

- The Killing Moon ~ Echo And The Bunnymen
Maybe Love quotes by Echo And The Bunnymen
But you know, when you're in love, there's this denial button you just switch on, and everything is good for a while. ~ Piper Shelly
Maybe Love quotes by Piper Shelly
Beauty commonly produces love, but cleanliness preserves it. Age itself is not unamiable while it is preserved clean and unsullied; like a piece of metal constantly kept smooth and bright, we look on it with more pleasure than on a new vessel cankered with rust. ~ Joseph Addison
Maybe Love quotes by Joseph Addison
Love hurts.

Think back over romance novels you've loved or the genre-defining books that drive our industry. The most unforgettable stories and characters spring from crushing opposition. What we remember about romance novels is the darkness that drives them. Three hundred pages of folks being happy together makes for a hefty sleeping pill, but three hundred pages of a couple finding a way to be happy in the face of impossible odds makes our hearts soar. In darkness, we are all alone.

So don't just make love, make anguish for your characters. As you structure a story, don't satisfy your hero's desires, thwart them. Make sure your solutions create new problems. Nurture your characters doubts and despair. Make them earn the happy ending they want, even better…make them deserve it. Delay and disappointment charge situations and validate character growth. Misery accompanies love. It's no accident that many of the stories we think of as timeless romances in Western Literature are fiercely tragic: Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde, Cupid and Psyche… the pain in them drags us back again and again, hoping that this time we'll find a way out of the dark.

Only if you let your characters get lost will we get lost in them. And that, more than anything else, is what romance can and should do for its protagonists and its readers: lead us through the labyrinth, skirt the monstrous despair roaming its halls, and find our way into daylight. ~ Damon Suede
Maybe Love quotes by Damon Suede
The biggest problem occurs
when i try to forget you are nights,
cuz i ain't got control on my dreams ... ~ Abhishek Kumar Singh
Maybe Love quotes by Abhishek Kumar Singh
I'm in love with you. This isn't a memory, but a promise, do you hear me? ~ Katie McGarry
Maybe Love quotes by Katie McGarry
I want someone wonderful. I want a man to love me the way Michael loves you. I want a man willing to fight for me. I want a man who won't let me walk away from him. ~ Francine Rivers
Maybe Love quotes by Francine Rivers
Hobbits are an unobtrusive but very ancient people, more numerous formerly than they are today; for they love peace and quiet and good tilled earth: a well-ordered and well-farmed countryside was their favourite haunt. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Maybe Love quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
As I stood in contemplation of the garden of the wonders of space," Milosz writes, "I had the feeling that I was looking into the ultimate depths, the most secret regions of my own being; and I smiled, because it had never occurred to me that I could be so pure, so great, so fair! My heart burst into singing with the song of grace of the universe. All these constellations are yours, they exist in you; outside your love they have no reality! How terrible the world seems to those who do not know themselves! When you felt so alone and abandoned in the presence of the sea, imagine what solitude the waters must have felt in the night, or the night's own solitude in a universe without end!" And the poet continues this love duet between dreamer and world, making man and the world into two wedded creatures that are paradoxically united in the dialogue of their solitude. ~ Gaston Bachelard

Maybe Love quotes by Connie Willis
Anger, resentment, jealousy, desire for revenge, lust, greed, antagonisms, and rivalries are the obvious signs that I have left home. And that happens quite easily. When I pay careful attention to what goes on in my mind from moment to moment, I come to the disconcerting discovery that there are very few moments during the day when I am really free from these dark emotions, passions and feelings.

Constantly falling back into an old trap, before I am even fully aware of it, I find myself wondering why someone hurt me, rejected me, or didn't pay attention to me. Without realizing it, I find myself brooding about someone else's success, my own loneliness, and the way the world abuses me. Despite my conscious intentions, I often catch myself daydreaming about becoming rich, powerful, and very famous. All of these mental games reveal to me the fragility of my faith that I am the Beloved One on whom God's favor rests. I am so afraid of being disliked, blamed, put aside, passed over, ignored, persecuted, and killed, that I am constantly developing strategies to defend myself and thereby assure myself of the love I think I need and deserve. And in so doing I move far away from my father's home and choose to dwell in a "distant country. ~ Henri J.M. Nouwen
