Mark Waugh, the most fluent and aesthetically pleasing batsman of his generation but also one of the most frustrating to watch. Often, when he appeared to be a class above the rest and to have the bowling at his mercy, he would play a lazy shot to what appeared, more often than not, an innocuous delivery. And just like that his innings would be over. To make matters worse, he didn't seem to care; he would nonchalantly wander off the field. No shaking of the head or staring back at the pitch to apportion blame. His fans had to learn to accept 30s and 40s instead of centuries and 150s. His concentration, some would say his interest, never seemed to be there in the Test arena. Despite playing some match-winning Test innings, Waugh was never quite able to shake the 'lackadaisical' tag. ~ Sean Ehlers
Mark Waugh quotes by Sean Ehlers
For two long seconds, he couldn't help but watch her perfectly shaped hips and exquisite bare legs as she walked across the carpet. ~ Mark A. Hewitt
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark A. Hewitt
Compounding Julia's irritation was the fact that Mark and Jennifer were the parents of one of Sam's friends, and thought of Jacob and Julia as their friends, and wanted to have a coffee after to "catch up." Julia liked them and, insofar as she could muster enthusiasm for extrafamilial relations, considered them friends. But she couldn't muster much. At least not until she could catch up with herself. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
Mark Waugh quotes by Jonathan Safran Foer
Our reactions to unhappiness can transform what might otherwise be a brief, passing sadness into persistent dissatisfaction and unhappiness. ~ J. Mark G. Williams
Mark Waugh quotes by J. Mark G. Williams

Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Teixeira
The peoples furthest from civilization are the ones where equality between man and woman are furthest apart-and we consider this one of the signs of savagery. ~ Mark Twain
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Twain
I've always found hitting a man from behind to be the best way to go about things. This can sometimes be accomplished by dint of a simple ruse. Classics such as, "What's that over there?" work surprisingly often, but for truly optimal results it's best if the person doesn't ever know you were there. ~ Mark Lawrence
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Lawrence
The fans love the home runs, the home run competition between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. ~ Jose Canseco
Mark Waugh quotes by Jose Canseco
Nonviolence is more effective than violence, that violence does not work. ~ Mark Kurlansky
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Kurlansky
Well, obviously I'm not Mark Wahlberg - I have much better abs and I look much better in a pair of Calvin Kleins but when I saw Mark Wahlberg interacting with the world, I realised that his stardom was sort of a result of the movies he had done and the publicity that he had got and the work that he did. ~ Adrian Grenier
Mark Waugh quotes by Adrian Grenier
I never write metropolis for seven cents because I can get the same price for city. I never write policeman because I can get the same money for cop. ~ Mark Twain
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Twain
Do you know last year, when I thought I was going to have a child, I'd decided to have it brought up a Catholic? I hadn't thought about religion before; I haven't since; but just at that time, when I was was waiting for the birth, I thought, 'That's the one thing I can give her. It doesn't seem to have done me much good, but my child shall have it.' It was odd, wanting to give something one had lost oneself ~ Evelyn Waugh
Mark Waugh quotes by Evelyn Waugh
If you plant yourself in one place and let your roots grow deep, there is no limit to what God can do. ~ Mark Batterson
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Batterson
God is infinitely bigger than your biggest problem or biggest dream. And while we're on the topic, His grace is infinitely bigger than your biggest sin. ~ Mark Batterson
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Batterson

Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Rasmussen

Mark Waugh quotes by Evelyn Waugh
People give me things at shows-the Robot from Japan. What I would treasure the most is a little doll of the general from the movie-and if they don't make it, I'll make my own and bring it to shows and sign it. ~ Mark Goddard
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Goddard
An actor has so much less space and responsibility. Sometimes you come on, and there are already tape marks for where you are supposed to stand, and the dialogue is already decided on. If you want to make a change and contribute something, it has to be approved by a number of people. ~ Paul Bettany
Mark Waugh quotes by Paul Bettany
He loved the rain and the raw energy of crashing storms. I'm going to die in the rain. Too much has happened to me in the rain. I'm going to die in the rain. ~ Mark Berent
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Berent

Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Dever
I am loathe to let thougths escape unnoticed, unexamined and unused. ~ Mark Amtower
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Amtower
spiritual wants and instincts are as various in the human family as are physical appetites, complexions, and features, and a man is only at his best, morally, when he is equipped with the religious garment whose color and shape and size most nicely accommodate themselves to the spiritual complexion, angularities, and stature of the individual who wears it; and, besides, I was afraid of a united Church; it makes a mighty power, the mightiest conceivable, and then when it by and by gets into selfish hands, as it is always bound to do, it means death to human liberty and paralysis to human thought. ~ Mark Twain
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Twain
I have been complimented many times and they always embarrass me; I always feel they have not said enough. ~ Mark Twain
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Twain
He stopped the flyers
And by his rare example made the coward
Turn terror into sport. As weeds before
A vessel under sail, so men obeyed
And fell below his stem. His sword, Death's stamp,
Where it did mark, it took; from face to foot
He was a thing of blood, whose every motion
Was timed with dying cries. Alone he entered
The mortal gate o' th' city, which he painted
With shunless destiny; aidless came off
And with a sudden reinforcement struck
Corioles like a planet. Now all's his,
When by and by the dim of war gan pierce
His ready sense; then straight his doubled spirit
Requickened what in flesh was fatigate,
And to the battle came he, where he did
Run reeking o'er the lives of men as if
'Twere a perpetual spoil; and till we called
Both field and city ours, he never stood
To ease his breast with panting. ~ William Shakespeare
Mark Waugh quotes by William Shakespeare
This would be a distortion of their meaning, since the pictures are intimate and intense, and are the opposite of what is decorative; and have been painted in a scale of normal living rather than an institutional scale. ~ Mark Rothko
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Rothko

Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Tompkins
People influence people. Nothing influences people more than a recommendation from a trusted friend. A trusted referral influences people more than the best broadcast message. A trusted referral is the Holy Grail of advertising. ~ Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Zuckerberg
If you're being smothered from someone on top of you, you've got to move, if you can't move, you better pray, and then find a pocket of air (this pocket of air will be hot and humid and almost not worth breathing, but it's all you got). ~ Mark Johnson
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Johnson
The early parent-child environment, the balance between being and doing, lives on in the mind. Mindfulness offers an opportunity to see these patterns clearly. In seeing them, in bringing them into the domain of reflective self-awareness, there is a possibility of emerging from their constraints. Choice emerges where before there was only blind and conditioned behavior. ~ Mark Epstein
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Epstein
They must first judge themselves, that presume to censure others: And such will not be apt to overshoot the Mark. We are too ready to retaliate, rather than forgive, or gain by Love and Information. And yet we could hurt no Man that we believe loves us. Let us then try what Love will do: For if Men did once see we Love them, we should soon find they would not harm us. Force may subdue, but Love gains: And he that forgives first, wins the [Laurel]. If I am even with my Enemy, the Debt is paid; but if I forgive it, I oblige him for ever. [From Fruits of Solitude, 1693] ~ William Penn
Mark Waugh quotes by William Penn

We came to life to leave a mark, either a wrong or right! So what route is your lifestyle taking? ~ Unarine Ramaru
Mark Waugh quotes by Unarine Ramaru
You get anxious about confronting somebody in your life. That anxiety cripples you and you start wondering why you're so anxious. Now you're becoming anxious about being anxious. Oh no! Doubly anxious! Now you're anxious about your anxiety, which is causing more anxiety. Quick, where's the whiskey?
Or let's say you have an anger problem. You get pissed off at the stupidest, most inane stuff, and
you have no idea why. And the fact that you get pissed off so easily starts to piss you off even more.
And then, in your petty rage, you realize that being angry all the time makes you a shallow and mean person, and you hate this; you hate it so much that you get angry at yourself. Now look at you: you're angry at yourself getting angry about being angry. Fuck you, wall. Here, have a fist.
Or you're so worried about doing the right thing all the time that you become worried about how much you're worrying. Or you feel so guilty for every mistake you make that you begin to feel guilty about how guilty you're feeling. Or you get sad and alone so often that it makes you feel even more sad and alone just thinking about it.
..Welcome to the feedback loop from hell. ~ Mark Manson
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Manson
I find getting the first draft down to be the biggest challenge. Every word, every punctuation mark, every plot point is a decision. It's much more fun to play with something that already exists. ~ Cynthia Leitich Smith
Mark Waugh quotes by Cynthia Leitich Smith
Poetry is much more important than the truth, and, if you don't believe that, try using the two methods to get laid. ~ Mark Forsyth
Mark Waugh quotes by Mark Forsyth
When a man's dog turns against hime, it is time for his wife to pack her trunk and go home to mamma. ~ Mark Twain
