Is it a spiral of water in the tragic gleam of a revolver, an egg, a glistening arc or the floodgate of reason, a keen ear attuned to a mineral hiss, or a turbine of algebraic formulas? (On Man Ray's first photograms, 1921.) ~ Tristan Tzara
Man Rays quotes by Tristan Tzara
I see myself as Kiki de Montparnasse, trying to get Man Ray's attention. (Sofia Navarro, 7th July 2012). ~ Sofia Navarro
Man Rays quotes by Sofia Navarro
Being a digital photographer I'm in awe of the older generation of photographers who created all those iconic cinematic style images on film, such as Man Ray's portrait of the photographer Lee Miller. ~ Paul Walker
Man Rays quotes by Paul Walker
Sometimes my mother did practice but one thing led to another and sometimes she did not. The advice of the homely man was something of a curse. She would not practice at all if she could not practice right so that gradually she played less and less and sometimes not at all.
I used to think that things might have been different. Gieseking never played a scale and Glenn Gould hardly practiced at all, they would just look at the score and think and think and think. If the homely man had said to go away and think this would have been every bit as revolutionary a concept for a Konigsberg. Perhaps he even thought that you had to think. But you can't show someone how to think in an hour; you can give someone an exercise to take away. ~ Helen DeWitt
Man Rays quotes by Helen DeWitt
Good and evil keep very exact accounts ... and the face of every man is their ledger. ~ James Branch Cabell
Man Rays quotes by James Branch Cabell
A woman well bred and well taught, furnished with the additional accomplishments of knowledge and behaviour, is a creature without comparison. Her society is the emblem of sublimer enjoyments, her person is angelic, and her conversation heavenly. She is all softness and sweetness, peace, love, wit, and delight. She is every way suitable to the sublimest wish, and the man that has such a one to his portion, has nothing to do but to rejoice in her, and be thankful. ~ Daniel Defoe
Man Rays quotes by Daniel Defoe
Once a man strays out of the common herd, he's more likely to meet wolves in the thickets than angels. ~ Walter De La Mare
Man Rays quotes by Walter De La Mare
I'm a good person and I don't think I'll be left on my own. I don't know when I'll meet a man - I think I'm rushing it. But I am tired of working and not having someone. ~ Beyonce Knowles
Man Rays quotes by Beyonce Knowles
Bad enough when a man wanted to touch but could only look. Worse yet when he'd touched and not even noticed. ~ Helen Fielding
Man Rays quotes by Helen Fielding
No man can stand still; the moment progress is not made, retrogression begins. If the blade is not kept sharp and bright, the law of rust will assert its claim. ~ Orison Swett Marden
Man Rays quotes by Orison Swett Marden
Though the biggest fault of the big man is tolerated easily, the smallest fault of the little man is not endured at all! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Man Rays quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
The scene had interested me. It was so different from the ordinary demeanour of tramps--from the abject worm-like gratitude with which they normally accept charity. The explanation, of course, was that we outnumbered the congregation and so were not afraid of them. A man receiving charity practically always hates his benefactor--it is a fixed characteristic of human nature; and, when he has fifty or a hundred others to back him, he will show it. ~ George Orwell
Man Rays quotes by George Orwell
But, perhaps, if there was less Law, there might be more Justice, than in some other Courts; for, if the civil Law be a Law of universal Reason, judging of the Rectitude, or Obliquity of Mens Actions, every Man of common Sense is endued with a Portion of it, at least sufficient to make him distinguish Right from Wrong, or what the Civilians call, Malum in se. ~ Charles Johnson
Man Rays quotes by Charles Johnson
And we all nodded at him: the man of finance, the man of accounts, the man of law, we all nodded at him over the polished table that like a still sheet of brown water reflected our faces, lined, wrinkled; our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions. ~ Joseph Conrad
Man Rays quotes by Joseph Conrad
It seems to me you do not care what banality a man expresses so long as he expresses it in Irish. ~ James Joyce
Man Rays quotes by James Joyce
One of the wonderful things about Batman is that he is just a man. He doesn't have superpowers or extraordinary powers other than his tremendous intellect and physical prowess. ~ Tracy Hickman
Man Rays quotes by Tracy Hickman
I teach our young men that respect is earned each day on the practice field, in the classroom, and how each young man lives his life. ~ George M. Gilbert
Man Rays quotes by George M. Gilbert
Although this man spoke pure fluent ghetto, she liked his spirit. She could tell he was attracted to her, and that he was being ever careful with his words. ~ Brandi L. Bates
Man Rays quotes by Brandi L. Bates
A plague of sighing and grief! It blows a man up like a bladder. ~ William Shakespeare
Man Rays quotes by William Shakespeare
the strongest man is he who stands most alone ~ Henrik Ibsen
Man Rays quotes by Henrik Ibsen
If beheading is the medicine of headache, no man can live; why cant you find the real way out? ~ Oladosu Feyikogbon
Man Rays quotes by Oladosu Feyikogbon
The essence of optimism is that it takes no account of the present, but it is a source of inspiration, of vitality and hope where others have resigned; it enables a man to hold his head high, to claim the future for himself and not to abandon it to his enemy. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Man Rays quotes by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
We are blessed with a faith, which calls into action the whole intellectual man; which prescribes a reasonable service; which challenges the investigation of its evidences; and which, in the doctrine of immortality, invests the mind of man with a portion of the dignity of Divine intelligence. ~ Edward Everett
Man Rays quotes by Edward Everett
Of course it is juggling, theman in motley was saying ... YOu know what your problem is, Sir Grenall? You've been seduced by the lure of spectacle. Sure, I could juggle three or four balls and use two hands, and that would be very impressive, but then what would I do after that? Five balls? Three hands? You see how it goes? Now me, I'm an artist, trying to recapture the original purity of the art form. This-the man nodded at the ball he tossing up and down-this is the essence of juggling. ~ Gerald Morris
Man Rays quotes by Gerald Morris
She had just given Liger his food when a tap sounded on the connecting door. Priss's heart leaped into her throat.
With excitement.
Not dread, or annoyance, or even indifference.
Pure, sizzling stimulation. Suddenly she was wide-awake.
Tamping down her automatic smile, Priss leaned on the door. "Yeah?"
"Open up."
Still fighting that twitching grin, Priss tried to sound disgruntled as she asked, "Why?"
Something hit the door - maybe his head - and Trace said, "I heard you up and moving around, Priss. I have coffee ready, but if you don't want any - "
Being a true caffeine junkie, she jerked open the door. "Oh, bless you, man." She took the cup straight out of Trace's hand, drank deeply and sighed as the warmth penetrated the thick fog of novel sentiment. "Ahhhh. Nirvana. Thank you."
Only after the caffeine ingestion did she notice that Trace wore unsnapped jeans and nothing else. Her eyes flared wide and her jaw felt loose. Holy moly.
"That was my cup," Trace told her, bemused.
But Priss could only stare at him. Despite the delicious coffee she'd just poured in it, her mouth went dry.
When she continued to stare at him, at his chest and abdomen, her gaze tracking a silky line of brown hair that disappeared into his jeans, Trace crossed his arms.
Her gaze jumped to his face and she found him watching her with equal fascination.
A little lost as to the reason for that look, Priss asked with some belligerence, ~ Lori Foster
Man Rays quotes by Lori Foster
To many a man, and sometimes to a youth, there comes the opportunity to choose between honorable competence and tainted wealth. The young man who starts out to be poor and honorable, holds in his hand one of the strongest elements of success. ~ Orison Swett Marden
Man Rays quotes by Orison Swett Marden
It's bad bein' strange niggers wid white folks. Everybody is aginst yuh." "Dat sho is de truth. De ones de white man know is nice colored folks. De ones he don't know is bad niggers. ~ Zora Neale Hurston
Man Rays quotes by Zora Neale Hurston
Andy said, "Yonder goes a man who hates the sin, but he's willin' enough to take its wages."
Shanty replied, "I'm glad I won't be wearin' his shoes when he walks up to the Golden Gates."
"He's wearin' better shoes than me and you."
"I'd rather be barefooted. ~ Elmer Kelton
Man Rays quotes by Elmer Kelton
He's the only man I ever knew who had rubber pockets so he could steal soup. ~ Wilson Mizner
Man Rays quotes by Wilson Mizner
Yes, I'll marry you."
And then his hands were in her hair, scattering her hairpins, and his lips were on hers, stealing her breath, and she was touching him- this remarkable man whom she'd loved for so long and who was finally, finally hers.
Callie sighed into Ralston's mouth- noting that he tasted of scotch and something more exotic, more male- and a feeling of complete and utter elation coursed through her. This was Ralston, her future husband, and he was making her feel so warm and wonderful and alive. And then he was kissing down the column of her neck, whispering her name like a litany as he lifted her arms over his shoulders and set his lips to the expanse of white skin above the neck of her gown. Callie gasped as his strong hands spread wide across her torso, stealing up to cup her breasts in a gesture of complete and utter possession.
"This gown," he said, the words coming thick and liquid, "is sinful."
Callie couldn't help her smile as he leaned back to watch her breasts lift against the satin edge of the dress. "Do you think so?"
"Indeed. It is made to drive men crazy... to reveal all your luscious curves"- he ran a finger beneath the satin lazily, just far enough to graze the edge of a nipple- "without showing off anything. It's a torturous viewing experience," he added, wickedly, as he pulled the edge of the gown lower, exposing the straining tip of one breast to the cool air and his hot mouth. He suckled briefly, until Callie was writhing ~ Sarah MacLean
Man Rays quotes by Sarah MacLean
It is a great and beautiful spectacle to see a man somehow emerging from oblivion by his own efforts, dispelling with the light of his reason the shadows in which nature had enveloped him, rising above himself, soaring in his mind right up to the celestial regions, moving, like the sun, with giant strides through the vast extent of the universe, and, what is even greater and more difficult, returning to himself in order to study man there and learn of his nature, his obligations, and his end. ~ Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Man Rays quotes by Jean-Jacques Rousseau
It's definitely attractive when a man can dress well. ~ Blake Lively
Man Rays quotes by Blake Lively
Call it Mooristan,' Aurora told me. 'This seaside, this hill, with the fort on top. Water-gardens and hanging gardens, watchtowers and towers of silence too. Place where worlds collide, flow in and out of one another, and washofy away. Place where an air-man can drowno in water, or else grow gills; where a water-creature can get drunk, but also chokeofy, on air. ~ Salman Rushdie
Man Rays quotes by Salman Rushdie
I could no more love a man of the sword than either of our mothers. So, tell me, Stryder. How do we get out of this? (Rowena)
I don't know. Murder? (Stryder) ~ Kinley MacGregor
Man Rays quotes by Kinley MacGregor
There was a strange happening during a performance of Elgar's 'Sea Pictures' at a concert hall in Bermuda tonight, when the man playing the triangle disappeared. ~ Ronnie Barker
Man Rays quotes by Ronnie Barker
The wise man has always treated religions with respect, not adoration nor blind following alone. He's more logical rather than emotional. ~ Mwanandeke Kindembo
Man Rays quotes by Mwanandeke Kindembo
A few days earlier, Adriana and I had been browsing books at the local library. I happened to turn around and look at her ... and that was it. The man who "loved to laugh" in Mary Poppins had nothing on us. ~ Gina Marinello-Sweeney

[Roget's Thesaurus, 1941 Revision] ~ Peter Mark Roget
Man Rays quotes by Peter Mark Roget
I think it is a combination of looks, aura, success, the energies that one gives out, the person you are and the person you feel like that makes you 'desirable.' When the outside world sees you as a man who is responsible for himself and his family, as a man who is fit and sensitive, it kind of ups your desirability. ~ Arjun Rampal
Man Rays quotes by Arjun Rampal
Religion in its humility restores man to his only dignity, the courage to live by grace. ~ George Santayana
Man Rays quotes by George Santayana
We never find out the strength of the evil impulse inside us until we try to fight it: and Christ, because he was the only man who never yielded to temptation, is also the only man who knows to the full what temptation means. ~ C.S. Lewis
Man Rays quotes by C.S. Lewis
A man shows he's a man by the way he corresponds to the expectations of those who are naive. ~ Torey Haydden
Man Rays quotes by Torey Haydden
I've written already, the trip could only be made feasible by a lie and of lying I'm afraid, not like a man of honour, but like a pupil. ~ Franz Kafka
Man Rays quotes by Franz Kafka
Great men simplify great principles and make them easily intelligible to ordinary men ~ Tunku Abdul Rahman
Man Rays quotes by Tunku Abdul Rahman
You're not like any man I've ever known," she said. "You're not even someone I could have dreamed. You're like someone from a fairy story written in a language I don't even know."
"The prince, I hope."
"No, you're the dragon, a beautiful wicked dragon." Her voice turned wistful. "How could anyone have a normal everyday life with you?" Cam took her in a safe, firm grip and lowered her to the mattress. "Maybe you'll be a civilizing influence on me." He bent over the slope of her breast, kissing it through the muslin veil of her gown. "Or maybe you'll get a taste for the dragon." He found the bud of her nipple, wet the cotton with his mouth, until the tender flesh pricked up against his tongue.
"I th-think I already have." She sounded so perturbed that he laughed. "Then lie still," he whispered, "while I breathe fire on you. ~ Lisa Kleypas
Man Rays quotes by Lisa Kleypas
Change no man's religion, change no man's politics, interrupt the sovereignty of no nation. Instead, teach Man to use what he has and what he knows to the factual creation, within any political reference, of a civilization on Earth for the first time. ~ L. Ron Hubbard
Man Rays quotes by L. Ron Hubbard
What are the inner man and woman? Our being consists of two energies: the male and female aspect. Irrespective of if we are a man or a woman, we have both a male and female side.
Life develops through opposite poles and tendencies for example yes and no, joy and sorrow, light and darkness, positive and negative, day and night and life and death.
Just as electricity needs both a negative and positive pole for a spark to arise, the human consciousness has also two poles. These two poles are the male and female side.
The right side of the body represents the male side and the left side of the body represents the female side. We all have both a male and female side, which is represented by the right and left side of the body. ~ Swami Dhyan Giten
