If I was going to pick one person in the world to reattach my head, I'd pick you ~ Rick Riordan
Love Story Story quotes by Rick Riordan
Our souls speak a language that is beyond human understanding. A connection so rare the universe won't let us part. ~ Nikki Rowe
Love Story Story quotes by Nikki Rowe
The O. Henry has become lingua franca among writers for saying, 'That guy can write a story.' It's prestigious, respected, coveted, dreamed about. It's very satisfying to be included in this group of writers. Here's a koan: Could O. Henry win an O. Henry? ~ Tony D'Souza
Love Story Story quotes by Tony D'Souza
I heard a story once in the Orient about two architects who went to see the Buddha. They had run out of money on their projects and hoped the Buddha could do something about it. 'Well, I'll do what I can,' said the Buddha, and he went off to see their work. The first architect was building a bridge, and the Buddha was very impressed. 'That's a very good bridge,' he said, and he began to pray. Suddenly a great white bull appeared, carrying on its back enough gold to finish construction. 'Take it,' said the Buddha, 'and build even more bridges.' And so the first architect went away very happy. The second architect was building a wall, and when the Buddha saw it he was equally impressed. 'That's a very good wall,' he said solemnly, and began to pray. Suddenly the sacred bull appeared, walked over to the second architect, and sat on him. ~ Colin Higgins
Love Story Story quotes by Colin Higgins
And don't give me the same old story:
"We're in Mexico. Pray."
You'd be better off taking a snake rattle. ~ Carlos Fuentes
Love Story Story quotes by Carlos Fuentes
A short story is a writer's way of thinking through experience ... Journalism aims at accuracy, but fiction's aim is truth. The writer distorts reality in the interest of a larger truth. ~ John L'Heureux
Love Story Story quotes by John L'Heureux
From If It Bleeds short story:

You can't have everything, she thinks; into every life a little poop must fall. ~ Stephen King
Love Story Story quotes by Stephen King
Unfortunately, it is practically impossible for you to delegate story creation to staff members or writers in the corporate communications department. ~ T.J. Walker
Love Story Story quotes by T.J. Walker
We each possess the capacity for self-development. We also possess the capacity for self-destruction. The path that we chose to take – to pursue lightness or darkness – is the story that we take to our graves. ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Love Story Story quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
All of life, Orhan realizes, is a story within a story; how we choose to listen and which words we choose to speak makes all the difference. ~ Aline Ohanesian
Love Story Story quotes by Aline Ohanesian
When I was a film critic, the reason I kind of found it disenchanting was because the things that I wanted to talk about were the ideas in the movie, the theme of it, and contextual elements that weren't necessarily central to the story. But the only thing people really wanted was a plot description and how many stars I'd give it. It didn't matter how much effort you put into writing a piece, they looked at it solely as a consumer's guide toward going or not going to films. ~ Chuck Klosterman
Love Story Story quotes by Chuck Klosterman
The true historian, therefore, seeking to compose a true picture of the thing acted, must collect facts and combine facts. Methods will differ, styles will differ. Nobody ever does anything like anybody else; but the end in view is generally the same, and the historian's end is truthful narration. Maxims he will have, if he is wise, never a one; and as for a moral, if he tell his story well, it will need none; if he tell it ill, it will deserve none. ~ Augustine Birrell
Love Story Story quotes by Augustine Birrell
Our story is over, though in its end lies its beginning. ~ Sally Gardner
Love Story Story quotes by Sally Gardner
To me, a story can be both concrete and abstract, or a concrete story can hold abstractions. And abstractions are things that really can't be said so well with words. ~ David Lynch
Love Story Story quotes by David Lynch
That's because Narnia was a Christian allegory pretending to be a fantasy series, you asshole," said one of the other boys. "C.S. Lewis never went through any doors. He didn't know how it worked. He wanted to tell a story, and he'd probably heard about kids like us, and he made shit up. ~ Seanan McGuire
Love Story Story quotes by Seanan McGuire
How does ANY male-identified person know he is a man? And does my answer really diverge greatly from how many men, trans or cisgender, would answer?

Transgender people are often said to have a 'narrative' to their lives; we're encouraged to see our journey toward recognizing our gender as a story with an articulable pattern. The truth is, though, that everyone's gender is a story; it's just that trans folks are more likely to be - perhaps I could say "are given the gift of having to be" - aware of it.

The story of becoming a man, a woman, or a person of any other gender often follows aspects of that most instinctual of story arcs: the hero's journey. For instance, my personal narrative was one of effort in seeking a transformative goal (a quest), assistance (tools provided by medicine, law, and intangible emotional support), and mentorship by those who went before me (guides). And my manhood was ultimately achieved through what could be considered rites of passage - which is to say a similar structure to communal cultural tales of how one achieves cisgender manhood. It's simply some details that vary.

I do see one key difference in how all this plays out, however: Trans men make this invisible process disconcertingly visible by flipping the variables. While a cisgender man may be born with certain inherent potentials to physically embody a manhood that others will acknowledge socially, he's not necessarily imbued with the demanding dri ~ Mitch Ellis
Love Story Story quotes by Mitch Ellis
World War II had been such a tremendous success story for this country that the political and military leadership began to assume that they would prevail simply because of who they were. We were like the British at the turn of the 19th century. ~ Neil Sheehan
Love Story Story quotes by Neil Sheehan
A good science fiction story should be able to predict not the automobile but the traffic jam. ~ Frederik Pohl
Love Story Story quotes by Frederik Pohl
Right when you find yourself not thinking about her at all, there she'll be, right at the end of the story to fuck with your head one last time. She ~ Matthew Norman
Love Story Story quotes by Matthew Norman
Telling a story is like reaching into a granary full of wheat and drawing out a handful. There is always more to tell than can be told. ~ Wendell Berry
Love Story Story quotes by Wendell Berry
Don't give your opinions about Art and the Purpose of Life. They are of little interest and, anyway, you can't express them. Don't analyze yourself. Give the relevant facts and let your readers make their own judgments. Stick to your story. It is not the most important subject in history but it is one about which you are uniquely qualified to speak. ~ Evelyn Waugh
Love Story Story quotes by Evelyn Waugh
The deciphering of ancient scripts changed forever the way Europeans were able to imagine the story of humanity, destroying centuries of received authority about the past with repercussions as important for our understanding of time and history as the geological studies of the same period. ~ Neil MacGregor
Love Story Story quotes by Neil MacGregor
when you spend
all your time
imagining yourself
in other people's shoes,

your own story
goes unwritten,

& there is nothing
more painful
than that. ~ Amanda Lovelace
Love Story Story quotes by Amanda Lovelace
What I like best is a good story with a moral. ~ Oscar Micheaux
Love Story Story quotes by Oscar Micheaux
Jodi Byrd writes: "The story of the new world is horror, the story of America a crime." It is necessary, she argues, to start with the origin of the United States as a settler-state and its explicit intention to occupy the continent. These origins contain the historical seeds of genocide. Any true history of the United States must focus on what has happened to (and with) Indigenous peoples - and what still happens. ~ Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
Love Story Story quotes by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
THEY'D CHANGE THE AXIS OF THE EARTH!

There are fortunes to be made in polar real estate! Just change the climate of both poles, warm them up, give them mild winters and pleasant summers, and watch the boom! At the same time, cool off the tropics, clear out the jungles, and there's billions more in it!

That was the scheme of the famous Gun Club, the same space engineers who had fired the shot "From the Earth to the Moon." The story of how they planned to change the face of the Earth itself is a Jules Verne classic long out of print that's a delight to read and a real adventure in logical super-science. ~ Jules Verne
Love Story Story quotes by Jules Verne
As with many tragedies, our story opens in a moment of triumph. ~ Dan Jones
Love Story Story quotes by Dan Jones
It might have been brief, but so much of a kiss - a first kiss especially - is the moment before your lips touch, and before your eyes close, when you're filled with the sight of each other, and with the compulsion, the pull, and it's like...it's like...finding a book inside another book. A small treasure of a book hidden inside a big common one - like...spells printed on dragonfly wings, discovered tucked inside a cookery book, right between the recipes for cabbages and corn. That's what a kiss is like, he thought, no matter how brief: It's a tiny, magical story, and a miraculous interruption of the mundane. ~ Laini Taylor
Love Story Story quotes by Laini Taylor
This is a story of what I was, not what I am. ~ Robert Graves
Love Story Story quotes by Robert Graves
Books have been vastly important in my life - as both a reader and a writer. I've learned that the great gift of literature is that someone else's tale becomes a chapter of your story. And I still feel books are the best art form for making contact with another consciousness, which is why reading a good book by yourself never feels lonely. ~ Bob Smith
Love Story Story quotes by Bob Smith
Today is a new day! You have the opportunity to pick up life's pen and change your story. Become the hero; the greatest hero in your story, and you'll see how much more exciting your life will be. You will watch your goals and dreams transition from something you simply hoped for to something within your powerful grasp. ~ Steve Maraboli
Love Story Story quotes by Steve Maraboli
I am a technophile, so there is no such thing as a first draft. The first draft plunges on, and about a quarter of the way through it I realise I'm doing things wrong, so I start rewriting it. What you call the first draft becomes rather like a caterpillar; it is progressing fairly slowly, but there is movement up and down its whole length, the whole story is being changed. I call this draft zero, telling myself how the story is supposed to go. ~ Terry Pratchett
Love Story Story quotes by Terry Pratchett
I have a nice little idea from some people I met there who are now in their seventies, and I want to tell their story about the revolution through the eyes of musicians, in fact. The '59 Revolution. And what has happened to them since. It's very much a Cuban story. They haven't fared too well. ~ John Gimlette
Love Story Story quotes by John Gimlette
There is a deep gap between our thinking about statistics and our thinking about individual cases. Statistical results with a causal interpretation have a stronger effect on our thinking than noncausal information. But even compelling causal statistics will not change long-held beliefs or beliefs rooted in personal experience. On the other hand, surprising individual cases have a powerful impact and are a more effective tool for teaching psychology because the incongruity must be resolved and embedded in a causal story. ~ Daniel Kahneman
Love Story Story quotes by Daniel Kahneman
Reporting is all about legwork, getting out and finding the story. But all the stories are on the top floors, so you have to learn to climb stairs. That's what reporting is all about, climbing tenement stairs. ~ Jimmy Breslin
Love Story Story quotes by Jimmy Breslin
crust. It's strange, this story of mine. A tale that starts somewhere in chapter twenty and ends who knows where. ~ Charlie N. Holmberg
Love Story Story quotes by Charlie N. Holmberg
The ending shouldn't determine the meaning of anything, a story or a life. Logically, I don't think it can--didn't Heidegger say something to that effect? That the meaning of all our moments cannot be contingent upon an end-point over which we have no control? That if we are happy right now, that means something, even if we die tomorrow? Narrative integrity is overrated. I don't need to know that the story of my life has a happy ending to enjoy it. A good thing, too, because I hear all the characters die in the end. ~ Alexa Stevenson
Love Story Story quotes by Alexa Stevenson
If something - if you have a good rapport then you're friends and you're offered projects together or you discover stories together. Jennifer and I discovered this story together, and it was evident to us we would only do it with each other. ~ David O. Russell
Love Story Story quotes by David O. Russell
I'm always going to have a story to tell. ~ Syleena Johnson
Love Story Story quotes by Syleena Johnson
It's really the story of a young woman, or two women, growing up in Naples in a poor neighborhood. The way that they get out of it - or don't get out of it - that's part of it. But it's also the story of the mid-20th century in Italy so it's really like a social, historical and personal novel. I think that even though I didn't live in Italy in those years, it did cover that same type of generational upbringing that someone like me might've had in America. ~ Ann Goldstein
Love Story Story quotes by Ann Goldstein
You can't have a movie with a group of people that are significant players in the story, that push forward the plot, without introducing at least one or two of them. ~ Evangeline Lilly
Love Story Story quotes by Evangeline Lilly
I don't think being a writer who is religious means you have to write about nothing but religion. When I do write about religion, it's to inform the story, not to push a certain agenda. ~ G. Willow Wilson
Love Story Story quotes by G. Willow Wilson
As psychologist Bruce Hood writes in his book The Self Illusion, you have an origin story and a sense that you've traveled from youth to now along a linear path, with ups and downs that ultimately made you who you are today. Babies don't have that. That sense is built around events that you can recall and place in time. Babies and small children have what Hood calls "unconscious knowledge," which is to say they simply recognize patterns and make associations with stimuli. Without episodic memories, there is no narrative; and without any narrative, there is no self. Somewhere between ages two and three, according to Hood, that sense of self begins to come online, and that awakening corresponds with the ability to tell a story about yourself based on memories. He points to a study by Alison Gopnik and Janet Astington in 1988 in which researchers presented to three-year-olds a box of candy, but the children were then surprised to find pencils inside instead of sweets. When they asked each child what the next kid would think was in the box when he or she went through the same experiment, the answer was usually pencils. The children didn't yet know that other people have minds, so they assumed everyone knew what they knew. Once you gain the ability to assume others have their own thoughts, the concept of other minds is so powerful that you project it into everything: plants, glitchy computers, boats with names, anything that makes more sense to you when you can assume, even joking ~ David McRaney
Love Story Story quotes by David McRaney
Discover everything about your characters that you can before you write your story. If you get stuck at any point, they will write your dialog for you. ~ Michael J. Kannengieser
Love Story Story quotes by Michael J. Kannengieser
Sometimes I'll have an idea for a story or have a subject, and that will inspire lyrics, but most of the time, hopefully, they already exist somewhere else. ~ Beck
Love Story Story quotes by Beck
A poem is a private story, after all, no matter how apparently public. The reader is always overhearing a confession. ~ Jorie Graham
Love Story Story quotes by Jorie Graham
Are you planning to go into writing as a career?'
'Yes, yes, that's what this is all about for me. I'm planning to write another short story this weekend. Have you read Hemingway by the way?'
'Oh yes. Part of growing up.'
'A bit like that, yes. Straight to the point. Simple and clear. With weight behind it. ~ Karl Ove Knausgaard
Love Story Story quotes by Karl Ove Knausgaard
The essence of Christian faith has come to us in story form, the story of a God who will go to any lengths to get his family back. The Bible tells of flawed people
people just like me
who make shockingly bad choices and yet still find themselves pursued by God. As they receive grace and forgiveness, naturally they want to give it to others, and a thread of hope and transformation weaves its way throughout the Bible's accounts. ~ Philip Yancey
Love Story Story quotes by Philip Yancey
God has given every man incomparably great power to reach the highest calling in life. ~ Lailah GiftyAkita
Love Story Story quotes by Lailah GiftyAkita
The truth of the matter is the real story are the people who rise above all of this incredible cruelty. Otherwise that cruelty wins. ~ George Clooney
Love Story Story quotes by George Clooney
Trial Is Part of the Journey For a moment, think back about your favorite fairy tale. In that story the main character may be a princess or a peasant; she might be a mermaid or a milkmaid, a ruler or a servant. You will find one thing all have in common: they must overcome adversity. ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf
