John Fox quotes by John Fox Jr.
Harold stuck his chest out a bit. "I'm the Senator's representative in this district," which made me think of the relationship priests supposedly have with God. ~ John Fox
John Fox quotes by John Fox
Religion requires action, labour, diligence; for it does not consist in airy, empty notions and speculations of the head but in the exercise of the mind and heart. Habits must be exerted; grace, improved. Heaven (that is, all uphill) must be strived for and gotten, as it were, by force and victory. ~ John Fox
John Fox quotes by John Fox
When someone deeply listens to you, your barefeet are on the earth, and a beloved land that seemed distant, is now at home within you. ~ John Fox
John Fox quotes by John Fox

John Fox quotes by John Fox
'The Blacklist' was really right place, right time. I read the script and met with Jon Bokenkamp, John Eisendrath, John Fox and John Davis, and we just hit it off. They understood that I was not so much trying to adapt to television, but adapt a cinematic style to the things that we were gonna do. ~ Joe Carnahan
John Fox quotes by Joe Carnahan
People lift their hand to rebel against the Most High only to find that their rebellion is unwitting service in the wonderful designs of God. ~ John Piper
John Fox quotes by John Piper
When I started to be published I thought about Margaret Bourke-White and the whole journalistic approach to things. I believed I was supposed to catch life going by me - that I wasn't to alter it or tamper with it - that I was just to watch what was going on and report it as best I could. This shoot with John was different. I got involved, and I realized that you can't help but be touched by what goes on in front of you. I no longer believe that there is such a thing as objectivity. ~ Annie Leibovitz
John Fox quotes by Annie Leibovitz
Get back to where you once belonged, ~ John Lennon
John Fox quotes by John Lennon
Well, it made you famous. ~ John S. Mosby
John Fox quotes by John S. Mosby
Her face, seen so close, is built of great flats of skin pressed clean of color except for a burnish of yellow that adds to their size mineral weight, the weight of some pure porous stone carted straight from quarries to temples. Words come from this monumental Ruth in the same scale, as massive wheels rolling to the porches of his ears, as mute coins spinning in the light. "You have it pretty good. ~ John Updike
John Fox quotes by John Updike
I am the man who loves his life. I am the man who does not sacrifice his love or his values. ~ Ayn Rand
John Fox quotes by Ayn Rand
There is no doubt that I was blessed with a considerable amount of luck. ~ John Gurdon
John Fox quotes by John Gurdon
The government can spy on people using their mobile phones while they're with their wives and husbands. ~ John McAfee
John Fox quotes by John McAfee
Orphanages are the only places that ever left me feeling empty and full at the same time. ~ John M. Simmons
John Fox quotes by John M. Simmons
I often wondered why I was attracted to certain landscapes and not others and why my photographs (and depictions by other artists) looked the way they did, Archetypes imprinted on my mind started me on a search ... ~ John Pfahl
John Fox quotes by John Pfahl
Happiness is an endowment and not an acquisition. It depends more upon temperament and disposition than environment. ~ John James Ingalls
John Fox quotes by John James Ingalls
In no other sport must the spectator move. ~ John Updike
John Fox quotes by John Updike
So abundant and novel are the objects of interest in a pure wilderness that unless you are pursuing special studies it matters little where you go, or how often to the same place. Wherever you chance to be always seems at the moment of all places the best; and you feel that there can be no happiness in this world or in any other for those who may not be happy there. ~ John Muir
John Fox quotes by John Muir
Speak Thou in my words today, think in my thoughts, and work in all my deeds ... ~ John Baillie
John Fox quotes by John Baillie
At its very core the story of Easter has nothing to do with angelic announcements or empty tombs. It has nothing to do with time periods, whether three days, forty days, or fifty days. It has nothing to do with resuscitated bodies that appear and disappear or that finally exit this world in a heavenly ascension. ~ John Shelby Spong
John Fox quotes by John Shelby Spong
I'm not allowed on FOX, and I'm not allowed on MSNBC. ~ Jesse Ventura
John Fox quotes by Jesse Ventura
She just looked right at him the only way she ever had, like he was the only other person in the world. ~ John Corey Whaley
John Fox quotes by John Corey Whaley
Few things are as immutable as the addiction of political groups to the ideas by whichthey have once won office. ~ John Kenneth Galbraith
John Fox quotes by John Kenneth Galbraith
We reached the bushes beside the porch without being seen. Crouched in the dirt, we were so close I could have reached up and grabbed Hannah's ankle. To keep from giggling, Theo pressed his hands over his mouth.
Sick with jealousy, I watched John put his arm around Hannah and draw her close. As his lips met hers, I felt Theo jab my side. I teetered and lost my balance. The bushes swayed, the leaves rustled, a twig snapped under my feet.
"Be quiet," Theo hissed in my ear. "Do you want to get us killed?"
We backed out of the bushes, hoping to escape, but it was too late. Leaving John in the swing, Hannah strode down the porch steps, grabbed us each by an ear, and shook us like rats. "Can't a body have a second of privacy?"
Theo and I begged her to forgive us, but Hannah's dander was up. If she hadn't noticed the fireflies under our shirts, I don't know what she would've done to us.
Snatching my jar, she gazed at my captives. The flickering glow lit her face. I wanted to tell her she was beautiful, I wanted to tell her I'd love her forever, but all I could say was "These are for you, I caught them just for you, Hannah."
"Poor things," she said softly, her temper gone without a trace. "I'll have to let them go, Andrew. They'll die if I don't."
Before I could stop her, she removed the lid and held the jar high over her head. "Fly away, fly away," she cried. Like sparks from a bonfire, the fireflies escaped in a sparkling green mist.
Theo han ~ Mary Downing Hahn
John Fox quotes by Mary Downing Hahn
Agnostics cannot understand Christ for the same reason a thief find a policeman -they don't want to. ~ John Hagee
John Fox quotes by John Hagee
Large fortunes are all founded either on the occupation of land, or lending or the taxation of labor. ~ John Ruskin
John Fox quotes by John Ruskin
Doc was collecting marine animals in the Great Tide Pool on the tip of the Peninsula. It is a fabulous place: when the tide is in, a wave-churned basin, creamy with foam, whipped by the combers that roll in from the whistling buoy on the reef. But when the tide goes out the little water world becomes quiet and lovely. The sea is very clear and the bottom becomes fantastic with hurrying, fighting, feeding, breeding animals. Crabs rush from frond to frond of the waving algae. Starfish squat over mussels and limpets, attach their million little suckers and then slowly lift with incredible power until the prey is broken from the rock. And then the starfish stomach comes out and envelops its food. Orange and speckled and fluted nudibranchs slide gracefully over the rocks, their skirts waving like the dresses of Spanish dancers. And black eels poke their heads out of crevices and wait for prey. The snapping shrimps with their trigger claws pop loudly. The lovely, colored world is glassed over. Hermit crabs like frantic children scamper on the bottom sand. And now one, finding an empty snail shell he likes better than his own, creeps out, exposing his soft body to the enemy for a moment, and then pops into the new shell. A wave breaks over the barrier, and churns the glassy water for a moment and mixes bubbles into the pool, and then it clears and is tranquil and lovely and murderous again. Here a crab tears a leg from his brother. The anemones expand like soft and brilliant flowers ~ John Steinbeck
John Fox quotes by John Steinbeck
Labour's constitutional blueprint is nothing less than a plan for the destruction of UK democracy. ~ John Redwood
John Fox quotes by John Redwood
What is dark within me, illumine. ~ John Milton
John Fox quotes by John Milton
Why is the world so elaborate, if it has no purpose? Think of the care that goes into the least little insect and weed around us. You say you love me; then you must love life. Life is a gift, for which we must give something back. ~ John Updike
John Fox quotes by John Updike
...this insolence was turned by the providence of God to a very different purpose; for the face of Christ, dishonoured by spitting and blows, has restored to us that image which had been disfigured, and almost effaced, by sin. ~ John Calvin
John Fox quotes by John Calvin

John Fox quotes by John Steinbeck
You should always be trying to write a poem you are unable to write, a poem you lack the technique, the language, the courage to achieve. Otherwise you're merely imitating yourself, going nowhere, because that's always easiest. ~ John Berryman
John Fox quotes by John Berryman
What the hell kind of bed you giving us, anyways? We don't want no pants rabbits. ~ John Steinbeck

John Fox quotes by Gary Oldman
The brontosaurus had thirty-ton body and a two-ounce brain. The anatosaurus had two thousand teeth. Triceratops had a helmet of filled bone seven feet long. Tyrannosaurus rex had tiny arms and teeth like six-inch razors and it was elected President. It ate everything - dead meat, living meat, old bones - ~ John Updike
John Fox quotes by John Updike
Hey,' he said, touching my waist. 'Hey. It's okay.' I nodded and wiped my face with the back of my hand. 'He sucks.' I nodded again. 'I'll write you an epilogue,' Gus said. That made me cry harder. 'I will,' he said. 'I will. Better than any sh*t that drunk could write. His brain is Swiss cheese. He doesn't even remember writing the book. I can write ten times the story that guy can. There will be blood and guts and sacrifice. An Imperial Affliction meets The Prince of Dawn. You'll love it.' I kept nodding, faking a smile, and then he hugged me, his strong arms pulling me into his muscular chest, and I sogged up his polo shirt a little but then recovered enough to speak. ~ John Green
John Fox quotes by John Green
Seeing that a Pilot steers the ship in which we sail, who will never allow us to perish even in the midst of shipwrecks, there is no reason why our minds should be overwhelmed with fear and overcome with weariness. ~ John Calvin
John Fox quotes by John Calvin
The smartest person in the United States Senate, and he knows it, is John Sununu. Thank God he had his mother's temperament. ~ John McCain
John Fox quotes by John McCain
I'm not sure about prizes. I don't know how far you can seriously raise public consciousness about poetry. Having a 'National Poetry Day,' like a 'No Smoking Day,' is just shelving the problem. Things which should by rights be every day are not best served by these things. ~ John Fuller
John Fox quotes by John Fuller

There is no question but that perfect sanitation has almost obliteraed this disease, smallpox, and sooner or later, will dispose of it entirely. Of course when that time comes, in all probability, the credit will be given to vaccination. ~ John H. Tilden
John Fox quotes by John H. Tilden
