Foolish people inflict pain upon them self which is worse than what an enemy can bring upon. ~ Thiruvalluvar
Foolish People quotes by Thiruvalluvar
Only foolish people are completely secure. ~ John Kenneth Galbraith
Foolish People quotes by John Kenneth Galbraith
There are many foolish people in the world and when a man in a rather high position puts on no frills, slaps them on the back, and tells them he'll do anything in the world for them, they are very likely to think him clever. ~ W. Somerset Maugham
Foolish People quotes by W. Somerset Maugham

August 11th, 1922

My dear Watson,

I have taken our discussion of this afternoon to heart, considered it carefully, and am prepared to modify my previous opinions.
I am amenable to your publishing your account of the incidents of 1903, specifically of the final case before my retirement, under the following conditions.
In addition to the usual changes that you would make to disguise actual people and places, I would suggest that you replace the entire scenario we encountered (I speak of Professor Presbury's garden. I shall not write of it further here) with monkey glands, or a similar extract from the testes of an ape or lemur, sent by some foreign mystery-man. Perhaps the monkey-extract could have the effect of making Professor Presbury move like an ape - he could be some kind of "creeping man," perhaps? - or possibly make him able to clamber up the sides of buildings and up trees. I would suggest that he grow a tail, but this might be too fanciful even for you, Watson, although no more fanciful than many of the rococo additions you have made in your histories to otherwise humdrum events in my life and work.
In addition, I have written the following speech, to be delivered by myself, at the end of your narrative. Please make certain that something much like this is there, in which I inveigh against living too long, and the foolish urges that push foolish people to do foolish things t ~ Neil Gaiman
Foolish People quotes by Neil Gaiman
Sanctions and negotiations can be very ineffective, and indeed foolish, unless the people you are talking with and negotiating with and trying to reach agreements with are people who can be trusted to keep their word. ~ Caspar Weinberger
Foolish People quotes by Caspar Weinberger
Idle words. From foolish people. ~ Brandon Sanderson
Foolish People quotes by Brandon Sanderson
When my world seems to crumble all around, and foolish people try to bring me down, I just think of your smile face, and I'm flying. ~ Madonna Ciccone
Foolish People quotes by Madonna Ciccone
Only foolish people believe. A man of understanding has faith not belief. Faith is different. Faith means trusting life, trusting it so absolutely that one is ready to go with it anywhere. ~ Osho
Foolish People quotes by Osho
Don't try to prove that anybody is foolish because fools don't like it. Don't try to prove to a madman that he is mad, because no madman likes it. He will get angry, arrogant, aggressive. He will kill you if you prove too much. If you come to the point where it can be proved, he will take revenge.

It is better to be foolish yourself, then people enjoy you, and then by a very subtle methodology you can help them change. Then they are not against you. ~ Osho
Foolish People quotes by Osho
We have to go see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what's happening. We have to talk to them, maybe in certain areas, closing that Internet up in some way. Somebody will say, 'Oh, freedom of speech, freedom of speech.' These are foolish people. We have a lot of foolish people. ~ Donald Trump
Foolish People quotes by Donald Trump
Coffee renders many foolish people temporarily capable of wise actions ~ Baron De Montesquieu
Foolish People quotes by Baron De Montesquieu
You can't control other people, and giving them the power to decide if you will continue to produce good work is foolish. ~ Seth Godin
Foolish People quotes by Seth Godin
The Lord commonly gives riches to foolish people, to whom he gives nothing else. ~ Martin Luther
Foolish People quotes by Martin Luther
A cocktail or two, or several, I found, cheered me up for the foolishness of foolish people. A cocktail, or several, before dinner, enabled me to laugh whole-heartedly at things which had long since ceased being laughable. The cocktail was a prod, a spur, a kick, to my jaded mind and bored spirits. ~ Jack London
Foolish People quotes by Jack London
Too much faith is the worst ally. When you believe in something literally, through your faith you'll turn it into something absurd. One who is a genuine adherent, if you like, of some political outlook, never takes its sophistries seriously, but only its practical aims, which are concealed beneath these sophistries. Political rhetoric and sophistries do not exist, after all, in order that they be believed; rather, they have to serve as a common and agreed upon alibi. Foolish people who take them in earnest sooner or later discover inconsistencies in them, begin to protest, and finish finally and infamously as heretics and apostates. No, too much faith never brings anything good ... ~ Milan Kundera
Foolish People quotes by Milan Kundera
Sirach calls the people who dwelt at Shechem a foolish people (Ecclus. 50:26), just as the Germans are accustomed to judge concerning the Swabians and the Bavarians. They were a proud people given to luxury. ~ Martin Luther
Foolish People quotes by Martin Luther
To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent. ~ Buddha
Foolish People quotes by Buddha
Sometimes one likes foolish people for their folly, better than wise people for their wisdom. ~ Elizabeth Gaskell
Foolish People quotes by Elizabeth Gaskell
I love foolish people because I am not enough of a fool to not love them. ~ Debasish Mridha
Foolish People quotes by Debasish Mridha
Foolish people spend time and money poring over horoscopes and consulting so-called psychics trying to see the dark unknown. How much better to walk through life holding the hand of One who knows the way and cares for us! ~ Adrian Rogers
Foolish People quotes by Adrian Rogers
The Loser always fall in love with the past, the fool always fall in love with the future and the winner always fall in love with the present. ~ Lord Robin
Foolish People quotes by Lord Robin
Why say 'the world is complicated' and stop there? I say the world is complicated but not incomprehensible. Only you have to look at it steadily. Isn't it true a person's shoulder hurts sometimes because they've got a disorder in their stomach? And then what does a stupid doctor do? Order massages for the shoulder. What does a wise doctor do? He takes time to think about it, watches the patient carefully, gives him some medicine for his stomach, and the pain in his shoulder goes away. Better yet, he explains to his patients what they have to do to keep their stomach from getting out of order. One day his patient's going to get old and die, just like himself, just like us, and one day, incredible as it may seem, the Empire's going to die, and how foolish people are who whine about it, and whine about how complicated the world is. A seamstress's room is complicated too, but even at night, with the lights out, she can reach out in the darkness and find the yellow thread, the needles, the pincushion. We couldn't, because we don't know the order things are in, in the seamstress's room. And we can't see the order the world is in. But all the same it's there, right under our eyes. ~ Angélica Gorodischer
Foolish People quotes by Angélica Gorodischer
To avoid causing terror to living beings, let the disciple refrain from eating meat ... the food of the wise is that which is consumed by the sadhus [holymen]; it does not consist of meat ... There may be some foolish people in the future who will say that I permitted meat-eating and that I partook of meat myself, but ... meat-eating I have not permitted to anyone, I do not permit, I will not permit meat-eating in any form, in any manner and in any place; it is unconditionally prohibited for all. ~ Gautama Buddha
Foolish People quotes by Gautama Buddha
foolish people are those who does not realize their own genius ~ Rija Lulhaq
Foolish People quotes by Rija Lulhaq
Foolish people laugh at things they do not understand, producing the sound of braying donkeys. ~ Wayne Gerard Trotman
Foolish People quotes by Wayne Gerard Trotman
Rabbits are a foolish people. They do not fight except with their own kind, nor use their paws except for feet, and appear to have no reason for existence but to furnish meals for meat-eaters. In flight they seem to rebound from the earth of their own elasticity, but keep a sober pace going to the spring. It is the young watercress that tempts them and the pleasures of society, for they seldom drink. ~ Mary Hunter Austin
Foolish People quotes by Mary Hunter Austin
To this, Mrs. Nickleby only replied that she durst say she was very stupid, indeed she had no doubt she was, for her own children almost as much as told her so, every day of her life; to be sure she was a little older than they, and perhaps some foolish people might think she ought reasonably to know best. However, no doubt she was wrong; of course she was; she always was, she couldn't be right, she couldn't be expected to be; so she had better not expose herself any more; and to all Kate's conciliations and concessions for an hour ensuing, the good lady gave no other replies than Oh, certainly, why did they ask her?, her opinion was of no consequence, it didn't matter what she said, with many other rejoinders of the same class. ~ Charles Dickens
Foolish People quotes by Charles Dickens
Foolish people ... When I say foolish people in this contemptuous way, I mean people who entertain different opinions to mine. If there's one person I do despise more than another, it's the man who doesn't think exactly the same on all topics as I do. ~ Jerome K. Jerome
Foolish People quotes by Jerome K. Jerome
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do. ~ Chris Isaak
Foolish People quotes by Chris Isaak
I don't think it's hubris for me to say I'm a Trek fan. So, I don't treat Trek fans as somebody who's separate than I am. The only thing that separates them is, I'm one of the people responsible for the story in this movie and they're not. But we're all Trek fans. I can hang. ~ Damon Lindelof
Foolish People quotes by Damon Lindelof
Many people might expect the talk to be about dying. But it had to be about living. ~ Randy Pausch
Foolish People quotes by Randy Pausch
92 people are killed every single day in car fatalities. What if we filmed every one of them? No one would drive cars. ~ Greg Gutfeld
Foolish People quotes by Greg Gutfeld
All communities divide themselves into the few and the many. the first are the rich and well-born, the other the mass of the people ~ Alexander Hamilton
Foolish People quotes by Alexander Hamilton
People generally like happy endings, which is something I learned from my years in advertising. I like happy endings myself, but only if they're honest. I'm just as happy with a terrible, hopeless ending. ~ Augusten Burroughs
Foolish People quotes by Augusten Burroughs
The growth of my love story had been gradual but my success had always existed and both coupled together formed a deadly combination that was detrimental to our love. I wanted people to love me. She wanted them to leave her alone. ~ Faraaz Kazi
Foolish People quotes by Faraaz Kazi
When people hurt you over and over, think of them like sand paper. They may scratch and hurt you a bit, but in the end, you end up polished and they end up useless. ~ Chris Colfer
Foolish People quotes by Chris Colfer
From the earliest days at Apple, I realized that we thrived when we created intellectual property. If people copied or stole our software, we'd be out of business. If it weren't protected, there'd be no incentive for us to make new software or product designs. If protection of intellectual property begins to disappear, creative companies will disappear or never get started. But there's a simpler reason: It's wrong to steal. It hurts other people. And it hurts your own character. ~ Walter Isaacson
Foolish People quotes by Walter Isaacson
I paused beneath the arched entrance, where the drawbridge had once been, imagining all the people who had passed in and out over the centuries, every one of them carrying a combination of desire, hope, jealousy, despair, grief, love, and every other human emotion; a combination that made each one as unique as a snowflake, yet linked all of them inextricably to every other human being from the dawn of time to the end of it. ~ Sara Gruen
Foolish People quotes by Sara Gruen
In Christianity, God has promised to avenge attacks against His people. We trust the One who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay" (Romans 12:19 KJV) - but to the Muslim mind, this makes us look like cowards. In Islam, it's the opposite: the people are commanded to punish insults to the honor of Allah and Muhammad. ~ Michael Youssef
Foolish People quotes by Michael Youssef
Most of the significant contributions that have been made to society have been made by people who were tired. ~ Winston Churchill
Foolish People quotes by Winston Churchill
Blind people do not need a name, I am my voice, nothing else matters. ~ Jose Saramago
Foolish People quotes by Jose Saramago
It seems strange that in these very fraught times folks would be more concerned about hardworking people trying to find a better life than the monsters that actually want to eat them. ~ Justina Ireland
Foolish People quotes by Justina Ireland
A people are free in proportion as they form their own opinions. ~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Foolish People quotes by Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Violence is what people do when they run out of good ideas. ~ James S.A. Corey
Foolish People quotes by James S.A. Corey
We were the creatures desired throughout the ages ... foolish humans didn't even realize it, living in their own little world. ~ Kay Harding
Foolish People quotes by Kay Harding
Our thoughts about an event can have a dramatic effect on how we go through the event itself. When our expectations are low, it's easy to be pleasantly surprised. When they're not, we're vulnerable to painful disappointment. Because of this, many people spend a good deal of effort trying to avoid developing high hopes about anything. ~ Martha Beck
Foolish People quotes by Martha Beck
This business can be very frustrating but there is success story after success story of people who take the bull by the horns. Actors who are frustrated ... [should] do your own project. Find a writer, shoot a movie. It can be done, ~ Tony Shalhoub
Foolish People quotes by Tony Shalhoub
When something scary like this happens, it acts like a wake-up call, you know? It makes us reassess what's important in life. Our family. Our friends. The people we love. ~ R.J. Palacio
Foolish People quotes by R.J. Palacio
I wasn't on the board of Lehman Brothers. I was a banker, and I was proud of it and I traveled the country and learned how people make jobs. ~ Sean Hannity
Foolish People quotes by Sean Hannity
As a people, we are not very good students of history; we keep repeating the same mistakes at dreadful costs. ~ Col Don Wilson
Foolish People quotes by Col Don Wilson
New Orleans, city of roaches, city of decay, city of our family, and of happy, happy people. ~ Anne Rice
Foolish People quotes by Anne Rice
I'm collector of stuff that people make with their brain. I keep them in little jars and I take them out and play with them sometimes too. The stuff, not the people. ~ Frances Winkler
Foolish People quotes by Frances Winkler
Some people write to please, to soothe, to console. Others to provoke, to challenge, to exasperate and infuriate. I've always found the second approach the more pleasing. ~ Edward Abbey
Foolish People quotes by Edward Abbey
Unfortunately, there are mental invalids of every age who exist on other people's terms. It's lazy for older persons to let others make up their minds for them. People have to overcome that. ~ Marian Seldes
Foolish People quotes by Marian Seldes
Foolish mistakes don't make you dumb. Show your intelligence by changing your outcome. ~ Annette Whitaker-Moss
Foolish People quotes by Annette Whitaker-Moss
I'm responsible. I chose to put myself in a situation where I'm responsible, wanting to look after her, a small, dependent, vulnerable creature. It's innate and I don't even have to think about it. It's like breathing -- for some people. ~ Gail Honeyman
Foolish People quotes by Gail Honeyman
What I want people to realize is that "transitioning" is not the end of the journey. Yes, it's an integral part of revealing who we are to ourselves and the world, but there's much life afterward. These stories earn us visibility but fail at reporting on what our lives are like beyond our bodies, hormones, surgeries, birth names, and before-and-after photos. ~ Janet Mock
Foolish People quotes by Janet Mock
Christians will support the people of Israel simply because they live in the land of Israel. But we all know Churches worldwide would not want to support Israel if Israel was full of African-Americans, Latinos and Native Americans. Christians frequently say "They (other countries) shouldn't mess with the JEWS, they are God's Chosen People". But nobody uses what's in the actual bible to figure out who the Real Children of Israel are today (according to scriptures). So if we still don't know the answer to this question then who are we? Imbeciles? Bastards? Canaanites? Gentiles? THE BRAINWASHING OF THE BLACK CHURCH STARTED IN SLAVERY AND IS PUSHED ONTO THE YOUNG ~ Ronald Dalton Jr
Foolish People quotes by Ronald Dalton Jr
People are not "things" to be manipulated, labeled, boxed, bought, and sold. Above all else, they are not "human resources." They are entire human beings, containing the whole of the evolving universe, limitless until we start limiting them. We must examine the concept of leading and following with new eyes. We must examine the concept of superior and subordinate with increasing skepticism. We must examine the concept of management and labor with new beliefs. And we must examine the nature of organizations that demand such distinctions with an entirely different consciousness. ~ Dee Hock
Foolish People quotes by Dee Hock
I am just doing photo shoots. It's not something that extraordinary. I'm not a great artist, I'm not writing books, I'm not a painter, and people in the streets ask me for a picture or a note, and I say, 'Why?' ~ Carine Roitfeld
Foolish People quotes by Carine Roitfeld
In the spiritual reality of the church, neither Marcel Lefebvre, nor his bishops and priests, nor the people who frequent the SSPX chapels suffered or suffer excommunication. I believe history will record that the intent to impose such an excommunication was invalid and illicit. ~ Malachi Martin
Foolish People quotes by Malachi Martin
I wanted to give people - which is fairly bizarre considering my whole life is contemporary dance really - I wanted to give people a really fulfilling sense that they had seen a white classical ballet - in a very pure form. ~ Graeme Murphy
Foolish People quotes by Graeme Murphy
My father was the kind of man who would always pull over at the site of an accident to offer help even if phone calls had already been made, even if people were already there. It was his sole redeeming quality; he ran away only from the messes he made. ~ Trista Mateer
Foolish People quotes by Trista Mateer
People suck. They do stupid things and they're not nice. The end. ~ P.C. Cast
Foolish People quotes by P.C. Cast
I think there are two keys to success. One is to show up. The other one is to keep going. Most people don't keep going. ~ Dan John
Foolish People quotes by Dan John
Well, basically I have a lot of friends because I've been in the business a long time and worked with a lot of people. ~ Randy Jackson
Foolish People quotes by Randy Jackson
The love of these people and of my fans mean more than any award or special accomplishment. ~ Wynonna Judd
Foolish People quotes by Wynonna Judd
I felt squeezed in that vise along with the mass of everyday things and people, and I had a bad taste in my mouth, a permanent sense of nausea that exhausted me, as if everything, thus compacted, and always tighter, were grinding me up, reducing me to a repulsive cream. ~ Elena Ferrante
Foolish People quotes by Elena Ferrante
Some people have inspired whole countries to great deeds because of the power of their vision. And so could he. Not because he dreams about marching hordes, or world domination, or an empire of a thousand years. Just because he thinks that everyone's really decent underneath and would get along just fine if only they made the effort, and he believes that so strongly it burns like a flame which is bigger than he is. He's got a dream and we're all part of it, so that it shapes the world around him. And the weird thing is that no one wants to disappoint him. It'd be like kicking the biggest puppy in the universe. It's a kind of magic. ~ Terry Pratchett
Foolish People quotes by Terry Pratchett
I think people are sick of trends changing every six months - not because we're tired of them, but just for the sake of change. There is so much junk in the world: junk TV, junk movies, all those junk magazines with the same people on the cover. ~ Tom Ford
Foolish People quotes by Tom Ford
A chef and a restaurateur are different jobs: One is about pleasing people with what's on the plate; the other is about understanding the market. I'm a chef, but I think I'm a savvy businessperson, too. ~ Jean-Georges Vongerichten
Foolish People quotes by Jean-Georges Vongerichten
The good things that have been done, the reforms . . . all of that was not done by government edict. . . . It was all done by citizens' movements. And then keep in mind that great movements in the past have arisen from small movements, from tiny clusters of people that have gotten together here and there. If you have a movement strong enough, it doesn't matter who's in the White House. What really matters is what are people doing, and what are people saying, what are people demanding. ~ Howard Zinn
Foolish People quotes by Howard Zinn
Life seemed more transient now, with people commonly relocating and changing jobs during their lifetime - things that had almost never happened a century ago. ~ Brandon Sanderson
Foolish People quotes by Brandon Sanderson
For many people, morality means a set of rules governing the disposition on one's genital organs; or a set of injunctions against lying, stealing, or killing except when such acts are sanctioned by church or state. ~ Marilyn French
Foolish People quotes by Marilyn French
I don't know that love changes. People change. Circumstances change. ~ Nicholas Sparks
Foolish People quotes by Nicholas Sparks
I have seen the breakups between people who love each other and rush into getting married too quickly and I do not want to make that mistake. ~ Paris Hilton
Foolish People quotes by Paris Hilton
Huge organisations and me don't get along. They're too inflexible, waste too much time, have too many stupid people. ~ Haruki Murakami
