Wouldn't it be totally wrong and irresponsible of someone like the Apostle John, and especially the Apostle Paul, not to include any mention of hell or eternal torment in their books? And even moreso in the book of Acts, where the Good News is being proclaimed to Jew and Gentile alike? ~ Julie Ferwerda
Apostle John quotes by Julie Ferwerda
Thou shalt never wash my feet. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
My most treasured possessions are not things; they are only things, my friends, family and animals are what counts. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
This is, indeed, an insightful observation. The Archbishop [Joseph L. Berardin] insists that the natural resemblance between Christ and his priests must not stop merely with the fact that they share a common masculinity. Our question is, 'Why must it BEGIN there?' If the faithful cannot see Christ in a male who exemplifies no godlike virtues - humility, gentleness, and self-effacing service - can they not see him in a female who does? Indeed, if the priest acts 'in persona Christi,' not 'in masculinitate Christi,' then 'NATURAL resemblance' between Christ and the priest, it would seem, does not entail PHYSICAL, that is SEXUAL resemblance, but a resemblance which is natural to the SPIRITUAL order with which the worshiping congregation has to do. And in this order there is neither male nor female, even as there is neither Jew nor Greek. We would, therefore, conclude that since the Word was made flesh, as the apostle John has declared him (John 1:14), we rightly heed those who, in the flesh, symbolize his presence as they speak and act in his name. But we see no reason to add to what the apostle said by insisting that the Word was made MALE flesh, for both male and female are equally bearers of the divine image. And since God created humankind in his image, male AND female, we can only conclude that women as well as men should be ordained to the priesthood, because femaleness, like maleness, is a fitting symbol (sacramental sign) of Deity. ~ Paul King Jewett
Apostle John quotes by Paul King Jewett
You really have to experience the feeling of being with the president in the Oval Office ... It's a disease I came to call Ovalitis. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
The enemy uses lies to confuse people and fill them with anxiety and fear. The apostle John said, "We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one" (1 John 5:19). The enemy's lies completely mess up our thinking and weaken us if we believe them. Every day we must combat his lies with God's truth. ~ Stormie O'martian
Apostle John quotes by Stormie O'martian
Ignatius was the third bishop of Antioch and was discipled by John the Apostle himself. The Apostle John, who passed on the true faith of Jesus Christ through letters such as 1 John, passed on the faith, once delivered to the saints, to Ignatius. ~ Greg Gordon
Apostle John quotes by Greg Gordon
I worry and I wonder. And when I'm with her I'm happy. This is probably what love is. But I believe there is only one love. It would be nice if there was one more ... but there is only one. I think I was giving that love to Hae Ryung before she even matured. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
And so, he gently chided Apostle John A. Widtsoe, whose wife advocated such a rigid interpretation of the Word of Wisdom as to proscribe chocolate because of the stimulants it contained, saying, "John, do you want to take all the joy out of life?"85 But he didn't stop there. At a reception McKay attended, the hostess served rum cake. "All the guests hesitated, watching to see what McKay would do. He smacked his lips and began to eat." When one guest expostulated, "'But President McKay, don't you know that is rum cake?' McKay smiled and reminded the guest that the Word of Wisdom forbade drinking alcohol, not eating ~ Gregory A. Prince
Apostle John quotes by Gregory A. Prince
The fourth angel poured his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire; they were scorched by the fierce heat, but they cursed the name of God, who had authority over these plagues, and they did not repent and give him glory. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
I believe in logic, the sequence of cause and effect, and in science its only begotten son our law, which was conceived by the ancient Greeks, thrived under Isaac Newton, suffered under Albert Einstein ...
That fragment of a 'creed for materialism' which a friend in college had once shown him rose through Donald's confused mind. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle

Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
In this is love, not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. ~ John The Apostle

The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
All love is of God, the Apostle John reminds us, and because love cannot be buried in a coffin, the beautiful but broken relationships of Earth are resumed in the Father's home above where, as members of the same family, we dwell together in perfect harmony. ~ Herbert Lockyer
Apostle John quotes by Herbert Lockyer
A long time ago, there were lovers that lived on the opposite ends of a river. They promised to meet when the camellia flowers bloomed. But it rained so much the boat couldn't cross the river. So the two couldn't meet, even though the camellia flowers had all bloomed. Lets meet again. Before the camellia flowers wilt. ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
My Peace I leave with you ~ John The Apostle
Apostle John quotes by John The Apostle
Isn't it ironic that today people say, 'If you know the love of God, you don't have to worry when you go on in sin.' But the apostle John said, 'If you know the love of God, you won't be able to go on in sin.' ~ John Piper
Apostle John quotes by John Piper
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. ~ John The Apostle

Apostle John quotes by Pope John XXIII
Love is the answer, and you know that for sure; Love is a flower, you've got to let it grow. ~ John Lennon
Apostle John quotes by John Lennon
Every time a new rock singer comes out they don't say, 'Are you the new John Lennon?' Every time a new rapper comes out, it's not, 'Are you the new Dre?' I am never sure why this sort of genre, the categorization is so strong. I have not earned the right to be called the young Sinatra, but give me time. ~ Michael Buble
Apostle John quotes by Michael Buble
When a man's mind rides faster than his horse can gallop they quickly both tire. ~ John Webster

He who does not know the past can never understand the present, and he certainly can do nothing for the future. ~ John G. Diefenbaker
Apostle John quotes by John G. Diefenbaker
Often a successful problem-solver is one who creates a new context in which to view the problem. This can often be done by directing one's attention away from the distracting details of the difficulty. From a detached perspective, we may examine the situation in a new or different light and, after exploring information and options, choose an appropriate course of action. ~ John Templeton
Apostle John quotes by John Templeton
A man does what he must - in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers, and pressures - and that is the basis of all human morality. ~ John F. Kennedy

Apostle John quotes by Jonathan Evison
Our lives were absolutely monotonous and uneventful. Nothing nice ever happened, except ice-cream on Sundays, and even that was regular. In all the eighteen years I was there I only had one adventure - when the woodshed burned. We had to get up in the night and dress so as to be ready in case the house should catch. But it didn't catch and we went back to bed.
Everybody likes a few surprises; it's a perfectly natural human craving. But I never had one until Mrs. Lippett called me to the office to tell me that Mr. John Smith was going to send me to college. And then she broke the news so gradually that it just barely shocked me. ~ Jean Webster
Apostle John quotes by Jean Webster
Cross-examination is beyond any doubt the greatest legal engine ever invented for the discovery of truth ... Cross-examination, not trial by jury, is the great and permanent contribution of the Anglo-American system of law to improved methods of trial-procedure. ~ John Henry Wigmore
Apostle John quotes by John Henry Wigmore
It reinforced everything that I believe. I am an optimist. I believe in the goodness of people. ~ John Waters
Apostle John quotes by John Waters
On the other side of St John's house is a fake egg timer who can't maintain an erection. He shares the property with a glossy beef burger called Tom, who has been painted by a seven year old magistrate in order to be entered for this year's Miss East Lancashire competition. Next door to them is a Dundee cake with a lisp. ~ St John Morris
Apostle John quotes by St John Morris

Nothing is more portable than rich people and their money ~ John Kenneth Galbraith
Apostle John quotes by John Kenneth Galbraith
[Polythene Pam] was me, remembering a little event with a woman in Jersey, and a man who was England's answer to Allen Ginsberg, who gave us our first exposure - this is so long - you can't deal with all this. You see, everything triggers amazing memories. I met him when we were on tour and he took me back to his apartment and I had a girl and he had one he wanted me to meet. He said she dressed up in polythene, which she did. She didn't wear jackboots and kilts, I just sort of elaborated. Perverted sex in a polythene bag. Just looking for something to write about. ~ John Lennon
Apostle John quotes by John Lennon
Stories inside, each one nested within all the others; as though all the stories we had ever been inside of lay still nested inside of us, back to the beginning, whenever that is or was. Stories are what the history not made of time is made of. Funny, ~ John Crowley
Apostle John quotes by John Crowley
When people ask me who I'd want to have dinner with, dead or alive, I always say, 'John Lennon.' I just feel that he was an artist who was, in his own way, committed to wholeness and authenticity in a not dissimilar way that I am years later. ~ Alanis Morissette
Apostle John quotes by Alanis Morissette
The essence of faith is being satisfied with all that God is for us in Jesus. ~ John Piper
Apostle John quotes by John Piper
Secondly, the proper counsel and intention of God in sending his Son into the world to die was, that thereby he might confirm and ratify the new covenant to his elect, and purchase for them all the good things which are contained in the tenure of that covenant, - to wit, grace and glory; that by his death he might bring many (yet some certain) children to glory, obtaining for them that were given unto him by his Father (that is, his whole church) reconciliation with God, remission of sins, faith, righteousness, sanctification, and life eternal. ~ John Owen
Apostle John quotes by John Owen
I worry a lot about what people think. I worry people think I'm not helping them enough, that they don't like my music, that I'm playing a song too fast or talking too fast. I worry my wife isn't happy with our relationship ... I'm afraid somebody's going to take my career away from me. That it's going to go away, or I'm going to get fired. ~ John Tesh
Apostle John quotes by John Tesh
Alan Campbell opened one eye.
From somewhere in remote distances, muffled beyond sight or sound, his soul crawled back painfully, through subterranean corridors, up into his body again. Toward the last it moved to a cacophony of hammers and lights.
Then he was awake.
The first eye was bad enough. But, when he opened his second eye, such as rush of anguish flowed through his brain that he hastily closed them again. ~ John Dickson Carr
Apostle John quotes by John Dickson Carr
My hope that the Church will emerge as a strong leader in society is just that a hope. What I described in The Catholic Moment is not a prophecy but the outline of a possibility. There are no guarantees that my hopes expressed in The Catholic Moment will ever be realised. ~ Richard John Neuhaus
Apostle John quotes by Richard John Neuhaus
New Rule: Let the Pope be Pope. An animal-rights group in Italy has asked Pope Benedict to give up his fur-trimmed cape and hat. To which the Pope replied, "Don't be hatin' on my cape, bitch." Sorry, but Popes are the original divas, they invented bling, they've been wearing outlandish outfits for a thousand years
almost as long as Elton John. The clothes, the jewels, the fancy palace ... Those aren't just symbols of the Papacy, they are the Papacy. The day the Pope shows up on the balcony in a pair of jeans and polo shirt is the day a billion Catholics go, "What the hell were we thinking? ~ Bill Maher
Apostle John quotes by Bill Maher
Viola had a harrowing story about riding a bicycle west out of the burnt-out ruins of a Connecticut suburb, aged fifteen, harboring vague notions of California but set upon by passersby long before she got there, grievously harmed, joining up with other half feral teenagers in a marauding gang and then slipping away from them, walking alone for a hundred miles, whispering French to herself because all the horror in her life had transpired in English and she thought switching languages might save her, wandering into a town through which the Symphony passed five years later. ~ Emily St. John Mandel
Apostle John quotes by Emily St. John Mandel
See how ye Pharisee in the Temple stands,
And justifies himself with lifted hands.
Whilst ye poor publican with downcast eyes,
Conscious of guilt to God for mercy cries. ~ John Bunyan
Apostle John quotes by John Bunyan

When straight a barbarous noise environs me

In a world that is constantly changing, there is no one subject or set of subjects that will serve you for the foreseeable future, let alone for the rest of your life. The most important skill to acquire now is learning how to learn. ~ John Naisbitt
Apostle John quotes by John Naisbitt
Most fantasy is incredibly derivative of Tolkien, so when you read a lot of fantasy, it's really just elves and gnomes, and it all goes back to Tolkien. ~ John Orloff
Apostle John quotes by John Orloff
I was one of the first practitioners of social engineering as a hacking technique, and today it is my only tool of use, aside from a smartphone - in a purely white hat sort of way. But if you don't trust me, then ask any reasonably competent social engineer. ~ John McAfee
Apostle John quotes by John McAfee
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will: remember not past years. ~ John Henry Newman
Apostle John quotes by John Henry Newman
It is federal, because it is the government of States united in a political union, in contradistinction to a government of individuals, that is, by what is usually called, a social compact. To express it more concisely, it is federal and not national because it is the government of a community of States, and not the government of a single State or Nation. ~ John C. Calhoun
Apostle John quotes by John C. Calhoun
If I am wrong and you are right then the democratic process of the Australian community will vindicate you and condemn me. ~ John Howard
Apostle John quotes by John Howard
I've always got five or six things that would either make a good feature or TV show. And you just never know. You go and you pitch and it may be exactly what they're looking for, or they may stop you after two sentences and say, "Oh, we've already done something just like that." ~ John Sayles
Apostle John quotes by John Sayles
