The man who votes for the saloon is pulling on the same rope with the devil, whether he knows it or not. ~ Billy Sunday
Tabulates Votes quotes by Billy Sunday
The average man votes below himself; he votes with half a mind or a hundredth part of one. A man ought to vote with the whole of himself, as he worships or gets married. A man ought to vote with his head and heart, his soul and stomach, his eye for faces and his ear for music; also (when sufficiently provoked) with his hands and feet. If he has ever seen a fine sunset, the crimson color of it should creep into his vote. The question is not so much whether only a minority of the electorate votes. The point is that only a minority of the voter votes. ~ Gilbert K. Chesterton
Tabulates Votes quotes by Gilbert K. Chesterton
I wouldn't want [gay marriage] to go to the United States Supreme Court now because that homophobe Antonin Scalia has too many votes on this current court. ~ Barney Frank
Tabulates Votes quotes by Barney Frank
Politicians often say to me, 'Articles in the 'Observer' don't get me votes, but you get me money.' ~ Jared Kushner
Tabulates Votes quotes by Jared Kushner
If administration actions are not to mock its own rhetoric, the President must now take the lead in mobilizing public opinion behind a new resolve to meet the crisis in our cities. He should now put before Congress a National Emergency Public Works and Reconstruction bill aimed at building housing for homeless victims of the riot-torn ghettos, repairing damaged public facilities, and in the process generating maximum employment opportunities for unskilled and semiskilled workers. Such a bill should be the first step in the imperative reconstruction of all our decaying center cities.

Admittedly, the prospects for passage of such a bill in the present Congress are dismal. Congressmen will cry out that the rioters must not be re-warded, thereby further penalizing the very victims of the riots. This, after all, is a Congress capable of defeating a meager $40 million rat extermination program the same week it votes $10 million for an aquarium in the District of Columbia!

But the vindictive racial meanness that has descended upon this Congress, already dominated by the revived coalition of Republicans and Dixiecrats, must be challenged - not accommodated. The President must go directly to the people, as Harry Truman did in 1948. He must go to them, not with slogans, but with a timetable for tearing down every slum in the country.

There can be no further delay. The daydreamers and utopians are not those of us who have prepared massive Freedom Budg ~ Bayard Rustin
Tabulates Votes quotes by Bayard Rustin
Giving votes in exchange for ideological support. To wit: identity politics for homosexuals. ~ Harry Hay
Tabulates Votes quotes by Harry Hay
For my part I prefer fifty thousand rifles to fifty thousand votes ~ Benito Mussolini
Tabulates Votes quotes by Benito Mussolini
In the 2000 presidential election, Al Gore got more votes than George W. Bush, but still lost the election. The Supreme Court's ruling in Florida gave Bush that pivotal state, and doomed Gore to lose the Electoral College. That odd scenario - where the candidate with the most votes loses - has happened three times in U.S. history. ~ Juan Williams
Tabulates Votes quotes by Juan Williams
A man votes for one party and remains miserable; he concludes that it was the other party that would bring the millennium. By the time he is disenchanted with all parties, he is an old man on the verge of death; his sons retain the belief of his youth, and the see-saw goes on ~ Bertrand Russell
Tabulates Votes quotes by Bertrand Russell
Democracy is only an experiment in government, and it has the obvious disadvantage of merely counting votes instead of weighing them. ~ Dean Inge
Tabulates Votes quotes by Dean Inge
St. Peter, on my judgment day, will not ask me about the B-2 or my defense votes. He will ask me about my vote to protect innocent human life ... ~ Bob Dornan
Tabulates Votes quotes by Bob Dornan
The people in Florida think that Marco Rubio's literally defrauded them because you look at what he does. He never goes and votes. He's never over there. ~ Donald Trump
Tabulates Votes quotes by Donald Trump
The expression 'three is a crowd' holds true for both romance and politics. A three-way race is a disaster, because it splits the ballots, making it almost impossible to gain a majority of the votes. It usually results in a runoff. ~ Evette Davis
Tabulates Votes quotes by Evette Davis
Texas has a lot of electrical votes. [During an election campaign, after George Bush stated that Texas was important to the election] ~ Yogi Berra
Tabulates Votes quotes by Yogi Berra
The wonder of a free-market society is that we can all do our best to package our message in an entertaining fashion and present it - and then everybody votes with their footsteps. ~ Max Lucado
Tabulates Votes quotes by Max Lucado
You want to be free and break new ground, speak your mind, fear no man, have the neighbours acknowledge that you're a good man; and at the same time you want to be a success, make money, join the country club, get the votes and kick the other man in the teeth and off the ladder. ~ Christina Stead
Tabulates Votes quotes by Christina Stead
As far as the political landscape in our state, I think that what we continue to see is that Tennessean voters are more independent and more conservative, and they are watching issues very closely; they are watching votes very closely. ~ Marsha Blackburn
Tabulates Votes quotes by Marsha Blackburn
The new book by Nafeez Ahmed, based on very extensive and deep research, is by far the best on the 9/11 syndrome. Articulating and documenting what many feel, and empowering them into action, the book will have an impact on entrenched US empire elites unwilling and unable to take it on. Votes of thanks to Ahmed, and to Interlink! ~ Johan Galtung
Tabulates Votes quotes by Johan Galtung
With your votes you are working for your future. It is not a holiday; it is the most serious day of work since you were born. Better to come in clothing dirty from work than with your soul filthy from having sold your right to justice. ~ Luis Munoz Marin
Tabulates Votes quotes by Luis Munoz Marin
They all want to be me. They do! What everybody else says they will do, I've already been doing. They all want to be me. It's become a joke in Congress how Dr. Gingrey and Mr. Kingston have been following my votes. They've even changed votes to what I voted, multiple times. Members of Congress are laughing about it. ~ Paul Broun
Tabulates Votes quotes by Paul Broun
When Congress votes for all sorts of benefits, without voting for enough taxes to pay for them, they get the support of those who have been promised the benefits, without getting grief from the taxpayers. It's strictly win-win as far as the welfare-state politicians are concerned. But it is strictly lose-lose, big-time, for the country, as deficits skyrocket. ~ Thomas Sowell
Tabulates Votes quotes by Thomas Sowell
It's not the people who vote that count. It's the people who count the votes. ~ Joseph Stalin
Tabulates Votes quotes by Joseph Stalin
Need more votes! ~ Frankie
Tabulates Votes quotes by Frankie
The Florida Supreme Court wanted all the legal votes to be counted. The United States Supreme Court, on the other hand, did not want all the votes to be counted. ~ Vincent Bugliosi
Tabulates Votes quotes by Vincent Bugliosi
These elected officials pursued the offices they hold and asked us for our votes. We gave them our votes. That's a sacred trust, and they have betrayed us. ~ Mark M. Bello
Tabulates Votes quotes by Mark M. Bello
There is a century-old saying, The dollar votes more times than the man. ~ Michael Parenti
Tabulates Votes quotes by Michael Parenti
What people fail to appreciate is that the currency of corruption in elective office is, not money, but votes. ~ James L. Buckley
Tabulates Votes quotes by James L. Buckley
The American People will take Socialism, but they won't take the label. I certainly proved it in the case of EPIC [End Poverty in California]. Running on the Socialist ticket I got 60,000 votes, and running on the slogan to 'End Poverty in California' I got 879,000. I think we simply have to recognize the fact that our enemies have succeeded in spreading the Big Lie. There is no use attacking it by a front attack, it is much better to out-flank them. ~ Upton Sinclair
Tabulates Votes quotes by Upton Sinclair
Compassion is the use of public funds to buy votes ~ Thomas Sowell
Tabulates Votes quotes by Thomas Sowell
Every citizen's vote should count in America, not just the votes of partisan insiders in the Electoral College. The Electoral College was necessary when communications were poor, literacy was low and voters lacked information about out-of-state figures, which is clearly no longer the case. ~ Gene Green
Tabulates Votes quotes by Gene Green
My generation has not seen one single day of peace, and my dream is for my children and the children of all Colombians to have the change to see it. I hope the guerrilla understands that the time has come to leave this 50-year confrontation behind; that the time has come to change from bullets to votes, from weapons to argumentations; that the time has come for them to continue their struggle, but within democracy. ~ Juan Manuel Santos
Tabulates Votes quotes by Juan Manuel Santos
The reason so many believers are struggling is that we have voted in the past asking God to bless our plans rather than casting our votes based on seeking His agenda. We want God to sign off on our decisions rather than us following His. ~ Tony Evans
Tabulates Votes quotes by Tony Evans
If we get outside the EU, if we leave the EU system, we will be relieved of a huge amount of unnecessary regulation that is holding this country back. We will be able to set our own priorities, make our own laws and set our own tax policies to suit the needs of this country. We have a huge opportunity also to make people's votes count for more. ~ Boris Johnson
Tabulates Votes quotes by Boris Johnson
It is disingenuous to imply that my father was a Republican. He never endorsed any presidential candidate, and there is certainly no evidence that he ever even voted for a Republican. It is even more outrageous to suggest that he would support the Republican Party of today, which has spent so much time and effort trying to suppress African American votes in Florida and many other states. ~ Martin Luther King III
Tabulates Votes quotes by Martin Luther King III
I never stop running. I'm not one of the weenies who drop out just because the electoral college votes. I'm still in the race. I'm an extremely corrupt candidate and I stress that in case anybody in our reading audience is interested in sending me money. ~ Dave Barry
Tabulates Votes quotes by Dave Barry
The predominant idea behind globalization, in its most virulent form, is an unpleasant kind of social Darwinism - that the world is for winners not losers, that only the successful count, that money is considerably more important than votes. ~ Anita Roddick
Tabulates Votes quotes by Anita Roddick
So although the campaign for women's votes continued and the Bill was repeatedly brought back to Parliament, for nearly a generation most women held back from direct action and unladylike encroachment on the established power of men. ~ Neil MacGregor
Tabulates Votes quotes by Neil MacGregor
Sixty-five months into Bush's presidency, conservatives feel betrayed The main cause of conservatives' anger with Bush is this: He talked like a conservative to win our votes but never governed like a conservative. ~ Richard Viguerie
Tabulates Votes quotes by Richard Viguerie
Almost from the moment votes are counted, lame-duck chief executives invariably recede into superfluity, but Lincoln's hapless predecessor, James Buchanan, made procrastination into an art form. He could not have excused himself from responsibility at a more portentous moment, or left his successor with graver problems to address once he was constitutionally entitled to do so. ~ Harold Holzer
Tabulates Votes quotes by Harold Holzer
I can't see where there is anywhere left to move. If you don't have a recount it's hard to receive any more votes. ~ Robert Torricelli
Tabulates Votes quotes by Robert Torricelli
People are weary of politicians who make promises they are either unwilling or unable to keep. Society longs for statesmen but it gets politicians. Statesmen are leaders who uphold what is right regardless of the popularity of the position. Statesmen speak out to achieve good for their people, not to win votes. Statesmen promote the general good rather than regional or personal self-interest. ~ Henry T. Blackaby
Tabulates Votes quotes by Henry T. Blackaby
We don't believe that winning elections and winning any amount of votes will win freedom in Ireland. At the end of the day, it will be the cutting edge of the IRA which will bring freedom. ~ Martin McGuinness
Tabulates Votes quotes by Martin McGuinness
