It amazes me that filmmakers will still film, and audiences will still watch, relationships so bankrupt of human feeling that the characters could be reading dialogue written by a computer. ~ Roger Ebert
Queimada Film quotes by Roger Ebert
I did a short film at Outfest, 'Where Are the Dolls,' based on an Elizabeth Bishop poem done, where I play this woman who is sort of walking the streets and ends up alone dancing in a club. I have this hot and heavy scene with a very beautiful actress. It became very popular. ~ Megan Follows
Queimada Film quotes by Megan Follows
Blocking and countering like they do in the films doesn't work, so don't bother trying. ~ Geoff Thompson
Queimada Film quotes by Geoff Thompson
I look to everyday magic in art to remember how to live: how to estrange and vivify ordinary objects and beings. So little, really, is ordinary, but to remember this I need the brain chemical of painting and film and reading I had a thrummy doomed oracular feeling when I wrote blackened baby teeth into my little blind boy story: I saw teeth and in an instant they were becoming something else. They were buckshot. They were food. They were tiny flightless corvids. ~ Noy Holland
Queimada Film quotes by Noy Holland
Someone who'll bring some normalcy into my life and help me stay in touch with reality. That is something I'm curious about. There are so many actors who are married to people from non-film backgrounds, and their marriages are successful. I'm tired of dating actresses. ~ Shahid Kapoor
Queimada Film quotes by Shahid Kapoor
I think the wonderful thing about doing theater is that it's more of an actor's medium. I think that film is more of a director's medium. You can't edit something out on stage. It's there. ~ Kim Cattrall
Queimada Film quotes by Kim Cattrall
Film, television and to a certain extent, theater are modern day libraries. ~ David Strathairn
Queimada Film quotes by David Strathairn
Film is important; it can be more than reportage or a novel - it creates images people have never seen before, never imagined they'd see, maybe because they needed someone else to imagine them. ~ Steven Rodney McQueen
Queimada Film quotes by Steven Rodney McQueen
Crash is hyper-articulate and often breathtakingly intelligent and always brazenly alive. I think it's easily the strongest American film since Clint Eastwood's Mystic River, though it is not for the fainthearted. ~ David Denby
Queimada Film quotes by David Denby
Both as a filmmaker and as a fan I love the behind-the-scenes stuff, I like it even more than deleted scenes frankly. Especially when you're happy with the movie and you're proud of it, those deleted scenes give you also a sense of the making of the film and the process through which you end up with the final product. ~ Simon Kinberg
Queimada Film quotes by Simon Kinberg
Creating art (music, books, films, etc.) can be beautiful and liberating, but trying to sell art, well, that is the movie business. There are few winners, and lots and lots of losers. ~ Ronnie Apteker
Queimada Film quotes by Ronnie Apteker
Jake Green isn't just Jake Green. Jake represents all of us. The colour green is the central column of the spectrum and the name Jake has all sorts of numerical values. All things come back to him within the film's world of cons and games. ~ Guy Ritchie
Queimada Film quotes by Guy Ritchie
In order to get [Mean Streets] made I had to learn how to make a movie," says Scorsese. "I didn't learn how to make a movie in film school. What you learned in film school was to express yourself with pictures and sound. But learning to make a movie is totally different. ~ Peter Biskind
Queimada Film quotes by Peter Biskind
Youre only supposed to blow the bloody doors off! ~ Michael Caine
Queimada Film quotes by Michael Caine
For a creative person starting out on a career, try not thinking about film or media or whatever. think about money. ~ Paul Arden
Queimada Film quotes by Paul Arden
I never sit in a cinema and go, "Ah! I want to be in that film!" ~ Carey Mulligan
Queimada Film quotes by Carey Mulligan
I'd quite like to do a film but I'd also love to do more theatre. I want to keep challenging myself with good roles. It's harder for women because there aren't as many challenging roles. ~ Ruth Wilson
Queimada Film quotes by Ruth Wilson
There's such a sense of theatre in getting glammed up; it's like putting on a play or short film. ~ Felicity Jones
Queimada Film quotes by Felicity Jones
I love the idea of using film language similarly to how musicians use music - combining images and sounds in a way that they create an emotional effect. ~ Damien Chazelle
Queimada Film quotes by Damien Chazelle
Back before 'Brick,' I wrote a short film that I never ended up shooting: hit men in the present who work for a mob in the future who send their victims back in time. A guy is sent his future self, he lets him run, and the whole short was them chasing each other across the city. That sat in a drawer for 10 years until after I made 'Brothers Bloom. ~ Rian Johnson
Queimada Film quotes by Rian Johnson
I feel the film companies should pay for proper advertising to see that the movie will sell, instead of putting it on our backs. ~ Billy Crudup
Queimada Film quotes by Billy Crudup
There's no independent satisfaction without the success of the film itself. The feel that you have done the best you can to support the film. ~ Harrison Ford
Queimada Film quotes by Harrison Ford
To shoot a film is to organize an entire universe. ~ Ingmar Bergman
Queimada Film quotes by Ingmar Bergman
Years ago I was going to play Chet Baker in another movie and I really felt drawn to that character and the script is good and I met with Robert and we seemed simpatico and we developed. But I had a real passion for that role and that brought me deep into that film 'cause I got the sense that Robert [Budreau] was going to really let me be creative inside this part. ~ Ethan Hawke
Queimada Film quotes by Ethan Hawke
'Faces' became more than a film. It became a way of life, a film against the authorities and the powers that prevent people from expressing themselves the way they want to, something that can't be done in America, that can't be done without money. ~ John Cassavetes
Queimada Film quotes by John Cassavetes
Violence is used to portray what happens in a film. It only helps portray the actors and what they do. I think it is more about the story, when you have something to play off of. ~ Jake Lloyd
Queimada Film quotes by Jake Lloyd
Of course no documentary is completely 'objective.' Every decision you make - who to interview, how to edit, where to hold the camera - imposes a point of view on the film. ~ Marshall Curry
Queimada Film quotes by Marshall Curry
I thought, "Oh, my god, that's what happens every time I talk with a journalist in the middle of shooting and I talk about my character. I describe him, I objectify him, and I kill him." So, I've never spoken with a journalist in the middle of a film. I don't do the EPK until the very end of a film. I can't talk about Kiefer's process, but what he brings to the table is beautiful. ~ Donald Sutherland
Queimada Film quotes by Donald Sutherland
For film, I audition just like everyone else, because it's a different set of casting directors. ~ Neil Patrick Harris
Queimada Film quotes by Neil Patrick Harris
The scariest film in the world is 'Rosemary's Baby.' ~ Chris Eigeman
Queimada Film quotes by Chris Eigeman
We have a thriving subculture of 'independent' American movies that makes an impact on America as a whole roughly equivalent to that of a the modern literary novel. These are the films sincere viewers marry, whereas, once upon a time, movies were a lifetime of one night stands. ~ Edward Jay Epstein
Queimada Film quotes by Edward Jay Epstein
Every actor has a production company already. It's just a matter of producing your own films under the label of your own production company. ~ Scarlett Johansson
Queimada Film quotes by Scarlett Johansson
There's not one film that I've ever made that could get made today by a studio, not one - even 'A Few Good Men' because it's an adult courtroom drama, and studios do not make them any more. And so every movie that I make, have made and will make is always going be independently financed. ~ Rob Reiner
Queimada Film quotes by Rob Reiner
I got an image in my head that never got out. We see a great many things and can remember a great many things, but that is different. We get very few of the true images in our heads of the kind I am talking about, the kind that become more and more vivid for us as if the passage of the years did not obscure their reality but, year by year, drew off another veil to expose a meaning which we had only dimly surmised at first. Very probably the last veil will not be removed, for there are not enough years, but the brightness of the image increases and our conviction increases that the brightness is meaning, or the legend of meaning, and without the image our lives would be nothing except an old piece of film rolled on a spool and thrown into a desk drawer among the unanswered letters. ~ Robert Penn Warren
Queimada Film quotes by Robert Penn Warren
I'd like to make a film musical. That's really my dream. ~ Luke Evans
Queimada Film quotes by Luke Evans
When I'm doing theatre, I feel like my life's on hold. Even though you might go out for a coffee, or go and see a film, your brain is still there, pulling you back to it. ~ Shirley Henderson
Queimada Film quotes by Shirley Henderson
ASSOCIATIVE MEMORY
In Proust's Swann's Way a sip of tea and a bite of a small scallopshaped cake known as a petite madeleine cause the narrator to find himself suddenly flooded with memories from his past. At first he is puzzled, but then, slowly, after much effort on his part, he remembers that his aunt used to give him tea and madeleines when he was a little boy, and it is this association that has stirred his memory. We have all had similar experiences - a whiff of a particular food being prepared, or a glimpse of some long-forgotten object - that suddenly evoke some scene out of our past. The holographic idea offers a further analogy for the associative tendencies of memory. This is illustrated by yet another kind of holographic recording technique. First, the light of a single laser beam is bounced off two objects simultaneously, say an easy chair and a smoking pipe. The light bounced off each object is then allowed to collide, and the resulting interference pattern is captured on film. Then, whenever the easy chair is illuminated with laser light and the light that reflects off the easy chair is passed through the film, a three-dimensional image of the pipe will appear. Conversely, whenever the same is done with the pipe, a hologram of the easy chair appears. So, if our brains function holographically, a similar process may be responsible for the way certain objects evoke specific memories from our past ~ Michael Talbot
Queimada Film quotes by Michael Talbot
I went in right up front and said, This can't be about some guy in bandages. I didn't even want to do a horror movie. I took the concept and made a romantic adventure film. I like action heroes who don't take themselves too seriously. I wanted to make everyone take the mummy seriously, but it couldn't just be a guy in bandages. But the main thing was to build in surprises. That's one of the great things you can do with special effects. ~ Stephen Sommers
Queimada Film quotes by Stephen Sommers
Not only do we end up with a vivid, surprising and soulful sense of one artist and his work, but Leigh also offers us a commanding view of a city, London, and country at the dawn of the modern age and of a man being overawed and overtaken by new technologies such as photography and the railways. As ever with Leigh, 'Mr Turner' addresses the big questions with small moments. It's an extraordinary film, all at once strange, entertaining, thoughtful and exciting. ~ Dave Calhoun
Queimada Film quotes by Dave Calhoun
But we had a fantastic coach, Simon Clifford, who runs a British football youth game which teaches Brazilian techniques - which is what we wanted to incorporate into the film. And some of those things we eventually got in. ~ Parminder Nagra
Queimada Film quotes by Parminder Nagra
As a relentless gatherer of moments, I find that my favorite images, although grounded in the present, are like spirits shaped by memories. They whisper of fairy tales, poetry, and other lives, as each gesture connects with another and raises yet another from the dead. Shadows flicker on film to an inner melody as I navigate, camera at hand and at the speed of light, through unimaginable worlds - desperately trying to make sense of the joy and suffering before it all disappears. ~ Sylvia Plachy
Queimada Film quotes by Sylvia Plachy
Of course, like all film-makers I've been mesmerised by cinema since I was a child. ~ Anthony Minghella
Queimada Film quotes by Anthony Minghella
There was a time that I was only known for being a plagiarist. It used to hurt at times because there was so much effort I was putting into music. And instead of that, it was a couple tunes that I had reproduced from folk songs to remake as film songs, which were being written about. ~ Pritam Chakraborty
Queimada Film quotes by Pritam Chakraborty
I don't know if I'd want to do that anymore, because you always get bigger laughs on college campuses. So, when the film plays in front of a city audience, you've probably cut too loosely. ~ David Zucker
Queimada Film quotes by David Zucker
When you grow up in the [film] industry, the director is your father. You follow your father's lead, but you make your own way. ~ Leonardo DiCaprio
Queimada Film quotes by Leonardo DiCaprio
It was only when I saw films in my early 20s by Jane Campion, Mira Nair, Sally Potter and Kathryn Bigelow, I started to think, 'Oh, it's possible.' I dared to suggest that I wanted to train to be a film director. ~ Sarah Gavron
Queimada Film quotes by Sarah Gavron
I grew up reading the 'Village Voice' and wanting to be one of these multidisciplinary music writers, film writers, book writers. And I lucked out getting a job at the 'Voice' right after college. ~ Colson Whitehead
Queimada Film quotes by Colson Whitehead
