I feel as though I have a balloon filled with 4th of July sparklers that is ready to explode inside my chest I want to be a firework to live my life blindingly bright and sparkling and then to go out quickly to burn for a short time but very brightly ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I was reading everything under the sun from music history to feminist literature to Shakespeare, which is why I'm not a complete idiot at this time. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
EA: Is it the smoke that smells like vanilla?
Audience: Yeah.
EA: Yeah, they do that to mask the chemicals that are actually killing you. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Going back to the basis, the phrase 'Fight Like A Girl', and we've all heard that growing up. And by that they mean that you're some kind of weakling and have no skills as a male. It's said to little boys when they can't fight yet, and it ridicules us. By the time we were born, the most of us hear things which program you to accept and know that you are less than your male counter part. It comes apparent in the way you're paid for your job, it comes apparent when yóu are not allowed to go outside after a certain hour because you stand a good chance of getting raped while no one says that to your boyfriend. While women, anywhere, live in some kind of fear, there is no equality and that is mathematically impossible. We cannot see that change or solved in our lifetimes, but we have to do everything that we can. We should remind ourselves that we are fifty-one percent. Everyone should know that fighting like a girl is a positive thing and that there is not inherently anything wrong with us by the fact that we are born like ladies. That is a beautiful thing that we should never be put down because of. Being compared to a woman should only make a man feel stronger. It should be a compliment. In this world we're creating it actually is.

I remember this one guy who came to our show in Texas or something and he had painted his shirt "real men fight like a girl", and I cried, because he was going away in the army next day. He bought my book because he wanted something he co ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I could have guessed it all along, cuz now some drama queen is gonna write a song for me ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
If you're going to die, then die. If you are going to live, then fight. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Simply put, if you are a Wayward Victorian Girl, I'll find you. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Are you made of stardust too? Are the angels after you? ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Thank you.
It used to be knee length, but then I discovered that when I get angry I like to cut things.
I'm not allowed to have scissors any more.
It's still pretty lengthy, but I've been threatening to shave half of it for the past week and nobody seems to believe me ...
I do it all myself though because I scream when I'm touched and that scares people. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
My reasons to live Were my reasons to die But at least they were mine Now I've freedom unbound Cut the laces of life ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I do not have OCD OCD OCD. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Then I break a glass and I slit my very innermost thigh so that I can pretend that I'm menstru
well, unavailable. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
It is not seen as insane when a fighter, under an attack that will inevitable lead to his death, chooses to take his own life first. In fact, this act has been encouraged for centuries, and is accepted even now as an honorable reason to do the deed. How is it any different when you are under attack by your own mind? ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Revenge itself may indeed be the best revenge, but slaying one's enemy does not give back what they stole. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
If you want to be safe, walk in the middle of the street. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I'll tell the truth; all of my songs
Are pretty much the fucking same
I'm not a faerie but I need
More than this life so I became
This creature representing more to you
Than just another girl
And if I had a chance to change my mind
I wouldn't for the world
Twenty years
Sinking slowly
Can I trust you
But I don't want to

I don't want to be a legend
Oh well that's a god damned lie - I do
To say I do this for the people
I admit is hardly true
You tell me everything's all right
As though it's something you've been through
You think this torment is romantic
Well it's not except to you
Twenty years
Sinking slowly
Can I trust you
But I don't want to

I will swallow
If it will help my sea level go down
But I'll come back to haunt you if I drown

Low tide and high tea
The oysters are waiting for me
If I'm not there on time
I'll send my emissary
If I photoshop you
Out of every picture I could
Go quietly quiet
But would that do any good
Will it hurt? No it won't
Then what am I so afraid of
Filthy victorians
They made me what I'm made of
The brighter the light
The darker the shadow
I don't need a minder
I've made up my mind
Go away ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
History written in pencil is easily erased, but crayon is forever. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I feel as though, if I were to extend my hand just a little toward the pool where the ideas ferment, I could grab at the idea and pull it out of the pool and onto the floor where ideas must stand before the jury of the brain. There, it must present itself, still from the pool, and a bit shivery because new ideas are not given a towel to dry off with, towels being reserved for proven theories; new ideas are simply pulled and stood up, and asked to explain themselves - not a very pleasant thing really, which is why so many people go into the room where the pool is. The exercise is exhausting not to mention a bit difficult to watch, if you are at all a sympathetic creature. What was my idea, anyways? ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
You," he said, "are a terribly real thing in a terribly false world, and that, I believe, is why you are in so much pain. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I love to write and to get to know the people who are listening. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
You young romantics find your "soul" in the strangest places. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
You know the games I play
And the words I say
When I want my own way
You know the lies I tell
When you've gone through hell
And I say I can't stay
You know how hard it can be
To keep believing in me
When everything and everyone
Becomes my enemy and when
There's nothing more you can do
I'm gonna blame it on you
It's not the way I want to be
I only hope that in the end you will see
It's the Opheliac in me ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I'm a big stupid history nerd. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
We are machines, all of us ...
And what does a machine do when too much is assigned to it? When too much coal, too much ink, too much information is forced violently through its channels?
Why, it stutters, it chokes, finally, it shuts down.
Where do they put the broken machines?
There is only one place. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I only sleep with people I love, which is why I have insomnia. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
It is this, not the spirits, that frightens us; shall we never be free, even after we die? ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Why can I never go back to bed? Who's is the voice ringing in my head? Where is the sense in these desperate dreams? Why should I wake when I'm half past dead? ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Here you sit on your high-backed chair
Wonder how the view is from there
I wouldn't know 'cause I like to sit
Upon the floor, yeah upon the floor
If you like we could play a game
Let's pretend that we are the same
But you will have to look much closer
Than you do, closer than you do

And I'm far too tired to stay here anymore
And I don't care what you think anyway
'Cause I think you were wrong about me
Yeah what if you were, what if you were

And what if I'm a snowstorm burning
What if I'm a world unturning
What if I'm an ocean, far too shallow, much too deep
What if I'm the kindest demon
Something you may not believe in
What if I'm a siren singing gentlemen to sleep

I know you've got it figured out
Tell me what I am all about
And I just might learn a thing or two
Hundred about you, maybe about you
I'm the end of your telescope
I don't change just to suit your vision
'Cause I am bound by a fraying rope
Around my hands, tied around my hands

And you close your eyes when I say I'm breaking free
And put your hands over both your ears
Because you cannot stand to believe I'm not
The perfect girl you thought
Well what have I got to lose

And what if I'm a weeping willow
Laughing tears upon my pillow
What if I'm a socialite who wants to be alone
What if I'm ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I smile to myself knowing that they may be dead. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
What's the big fucking deal? Lots of amazing people have committed suicide, and they turned out alright. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I am personally not a lover of audiobooks in general, and I am indeed one of those people who don't count listening to a book being read by someone else as actually having read that book. It simply is not reading. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
And if I end up with blood on my hands, well I know, that you'll understand, 'cause I fight like a girl. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
He cried when I left, which I find to be standard male behavior. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Well, I've been a musician my whole life. When I was two, I would sing the theme from Star Wars in my crib; my mom taped it for proof. Then, when I was five, I asked for a violin. No one knew why I would want one, but my wish was granted and I ended up a classically trained fiddler by age 12. The only problem with that was, when you're a classical violinist, everybody expects you to be satisfied with playing Tchaikovsky for the rest of your life, and saying you want to play jazz, rock, write songs, sing your songs, hook up your fiddle to a guitar amp, sleep with your 4-track recorder, mess around with synths, dress like Tinkerbell in combat boots, AND play Tchaikovsky is equivalent to spitting on the Pope. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
If that happens again someone's gonna get shot ... with an arrow of love! ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I can explain myself: If you want to be safe, walk in the middle of the street. I'm not joking. You've been told to look both ways before crossing the street, and the sidewalk is your friend, right? Wrong. I've spent years walking sidewalks at night. I've looked around me when it was dark, when there were men following me, creeping out of alleyways, attempting to goad me into speaking to them and shouting obscenities at me when I wouldn't, and I suddenly realised that the only place left to go was the middle of street. But why would I risk it? Because the odds are in my favour. In the States, someone is killed in a car accident on average every 12.5 minutes, while someone is raped on average every 2.5 minutes. Even when factoring in that, one, I am generously including ALL car-related accidents and not just those involving accidents, and two, that the vast majorities of rapes still go unreported […] And, thus, this is now the way I live my life: out in the open, in the middle of everything, because the middle of the street is actually the safest place to walk. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Did you know sometimes it frightens me--
when you say my name and I can't see you?
will you ever learn to materialize before you speak?
impetuous boy, if that's what you really are.
how many centuries since you've climbed a balcony
or do you do this every night with someone else?
you tell me that you'll never leave
and I am almost afraid to believe it.
why is it me you've chosen to follow?
did you like the way I look when I am sleeping?
was my hair more fun to tangle?
are my dreams more entertaining?
do you laugh when I'm complaining that I'm all alone?
where were you when I searched the sea
for a friend to talk to me?
in a year where will you be?
is it enough for you to steal into my mind
filling up my page with music written in my hand
you know I'll take the credit for I must have made you come to me somehow.
but please try to close the curtains when you leave at night,
or I'll have to find someone to stay and warm me.
will you always attend my midnight tea parties--
as long as I set it at your place?
if one day your sugar sits untouched
will you have gone forever?
would you miss me in a thousand years--
when you will dry another's tears?
but you say you'll never leave me
and I wonder if you'll have the decency
to pass through my wall to the next room
while I dress for dinner
but when I'm stuck in conversation
with s ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I still own my heart, which I know because it hurts so much. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Seeing metaphors in everything again. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Being brave means to know something is scary, difficult, and dangerous, and doing it anyway, because the possibility of winning the fight is worth the chance of losing it. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
I've learned that I work best when I'm entirely naked. The recording process was done that way. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Life is not like Gloomy Sunday, with a second ending when the people are disturbed. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Across the sky
I will come for you
If you ask me to
Demystify
Your uncommon dreams
Stranger things have come true
Fear no more the midnight
Fear no more the sea
Close your eyes, regret nothing
You're safe with me
Look into the shadows
Step into the mist
Search your land but doubt never
I still exist
Ask yourself: is this all there is
Take no answer but the one you find
I have put my faith in aberrations of your kind
But even if you're in my mind.
Should we hear the silence
Should we hear the noise
I don't need this blind acceptance
I have made my choice
Light lives in the darkness
Beauty lives in pain
In destruction we may lose ourselves
But still I will remain
Across the sky
Across the sky
See beyond the moment
Think beyond the day
Hear the word
Hear the word ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Once upon a time is now. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
If leeches ate peaches instead of my blood, then I would be free to drink tea in the mud! ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Women who focus on style over substance usually find themselves in a big fucking hole, with other men who want to fuck the hole. Oh so smooth, and none sophistacted. Because, you know, how sophisticated can hole-fucking really be ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Oh, and I certainly don't suffer from schizophrenia. I quite enjoy it. And so do I. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
Perfume was first created to mask the stench of foul and offensive odors ...
Spices and bold flavorings were created to mask the taste of putrid and rotting meat ...
What then was music created for?
Was it to drown out the voices of others, or the voices within ourselves?
I think I know. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
We had people fainting during the last tour, but I'm aiming for people to actually drop dead at this one. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
There is no suggestion box in the Psych Ward. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
It gives me strength to have somebody to fight for; I can never fight for myself, but, for others, I can kill. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
And falling's just another way to fly. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
There is no such thing as justice, all the best that we can hope for is revenge. ~ Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn quotes by Emilie Autumn
A full harvest moon lit the sky. In its glow, there appeared an old woman dressed in black lace. A shimmering veil covered her head. With her back to the old oak tree, she keened wildly. Her cry was carried by the autumn winds and lost on the wings of the nightingales. ~ AnneMarie Dapp
Emilie Autumn quotes by AnneMarie Dapp
On the other side of that big-ass mirror, a video camera was watching us. In about ten seconds, it was going to start spitting static at itself, and everything it saw was going to break up into a fuzzy, gray-white wash, rolling up and down, that wouldn't be admissible as evidence on Judge Judy. Those missing frames would last a little less than a quarter of a minute, consolidate themselves back
into a semblance of reality, and then I would theoretically go walking right back out of here.
Between now and that moment, there stretched an infinite ocean of potential
time. Time enough to walk around the world. Time enough to fall in love, get
married on a white beach under purple stars, write a book of poems about
truest passion, have a few good and bloody screaming matches, get divorced in a court of autumn elves and gypsy moths, then set the ink-stained, tear-streaked pages of your text ablaze. ~ Clinton Boomer
Emilie Autumn quotes by Clinton Boomer
Pale amber sunlight falls across The reddening October trees ... Are we not better and at home In dreamful Autumn, we who deem No harvest joy is worth a dream? A little while and night shall come, A little while, then, let us dream ... ~ Ernest Dowson
Emilie Autumn quotes by Ernest Dowson
It's not perfect, but nothing is perfect except for an idea of something," he goes on, "And if we aren't experiencing the world and all we do is think about our idea of the world, then why bother with any of it? ~ Autumn Doughton
Emilie Autumn quotes by Autumn Doughton
O hushed October morning mild, Begin the hours of this day slow, Make the day seem to us less brief ... Retard the sun with gentle mist; Enchant the land with amethyst ... ~ Robert Frost
Emilie Autumn quotes by Robert Frost
The snow crystals ... come to us not only to reveal the wondrous beauty of the minute in Nature, but to teach us that all earthly beauty is transient and must soon fade way. But though the beauty of the snow is evanescent, like the beauties of the autumn, as of the evening sky, it fades but to come again. ~ Wilson A. Bentley
Emilie Autumn quotes by Wilson A. Bentley
The wind blows out, the bubble dies; The spring entomb'd in autumn lies; The dew dries up; the star is shot; The flight is past, and man forgot. ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
Emilie Autumn quotes by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
Autumn is an interesting season, even in the metaphor of life, is a time of decline, of loss, but also intense and haunting beauty.
Some places, like some people, never are, or have been, as beautiful in their fall. ~ Luigina Sgarro
Emilie Autumn quotes by Luigina Sgarro
Autumn.
A season. A girl. A memory.
Autumn.
Her eyes twinkled with mischief.
Her smile was infectious.
Her laugh was a cure.
Autumn.
She broke me. ~ Akiah Watts
Emilie Autumn quotes by Akiah Watts
Days decrease, / And autumn grows, autumn in everything. ~ Robert Browning
Emilie Autumn quotes by Robert Browning
She looks skeptical. "A bird attacked you?" "Not quite." I give a chagrined sigh. "A bird shit in my eye. ~ Autumn Doughton
Emilie Autumn quotes by Autumn Doughton
Blest who was youthful in his youth;
blest who matured at the right time;
who gradually the chill of life
with years was able to withstand;
who never was addicted to strange dreams;
who did not shun the fahsinable rabble;
who was at twenty fop or blade,
and then at thirty, profitably married;
who rid himself at fifty
of private and of other debts;
who fame, money, and rank
in due course calmly gained;
about whom lifelong one kept saying:
N. N. is an excellent man.

But it is sad to think that to no purpose
youth was given us,
that we betrayed it every hour,
that it duped us;
that our best wishes,
that our fresh dreamings,
in quick succession have decayed
like leaves in putrid autumn.
It is unbearable to see before one
only of dinners a long series,
to look on life as on a rite,
and in the wake of the decorous crowd
to go, not sharing with it
either general views, or passions. ~ Alexander Pushkin
Emilie Autumn quotes by Alexander Pushkin
Now this was clearly one of the greatest improvements on the education system since time began and I was greatly looking forward to being enrolled but Aunt Penn said that I didn't have to do much of anything until autumn term, which didn't start until September, and by that time no one was going to school anyway due to the You Know What. ~ Meg Rosoff
Emilie Autumn quotes by Meg Rosoff
The quiet transition from autumn to winter is not a bad time at all. It's a time for protecting and securing things and for making sure you've got in as many supplies as you can. It's nice to gather together everything you possess as close to you as possible, to store up your warmth and your thoughts and burrow yourself into a deep hole inside, a core of safety where you can defend what is important and precious and your very own. Then the cold and the storms and the darkness can do their worst. They can grope their way up the walls looking for a way in, but they won't find one, everything is shut, and you sit inside, laughing in your warmth and your solitude, for you have had foresight. ~ Tove Jansson
Emilie Autumn quotes by Tove Jansson
I kept going deeper and deeper into this world of repetition ... The sad thing is, people don't want to believe that the person they're in love with is out of his mind, drinking and using, so if you give them even half an excuse, they're going to want to believe it. A girl with no prior exposure to the disease had to be blissfully unaware of the nefarious tricks of the dope fiend. That's how I was able to get high all summer and autumn and pretend like it wasn't happening. I was saying, 'I'm sick.' I was deteriorating physically and emotionally. Jaime was tolerant, and it did speak well of her character, because she was not the type to abandon ship during a crisis. She didn't consider backing off or bowing out, she was just there, which I can't say about everybody. I don't know if I could say it even about myself. ~ Anthony Kiedis
Emilie Autumn quotes by Anthony Kiedis
Without as much as a single question, legions of geese lift themselves to autumn's skies, obediently heeding the distant call of southern horizons. And I think that it's less the magnificence of their trek, and more about the humility of their obedience to the trek. For if I was left with a single prayer to utter, it would be to be more like them. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Emilie Autumn quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
If you look for Bigfoot, don't be surprised if you find yourself in the process. ~ Autumn Williams
Emilie Autumn quotes by Autumn Williams
The earth's distances invite the eye. And as the eye reaches, so must the mind stretch to meet these new horizons. I challenge anyone to stand with autumn on a hilltop and fail to see a new expanse not only around him, but in him, too. ~ Hal Borland
Emilie Autumn quotes by Hal Borland
To-day I think
Only with scents, - scents dead leaves yield,
And bracken, and wild carrot's seed,
And the square mustard field;
Odours that rise
When the spade wounds the root of tree,
Rose, currant, raspberry, or goutweed,
Rhubarb or celery;
The smoke's smell, too,
Flowing from where a bonfire burns
The dead, the waste, the dangerous,
And all to sweetness turns.
It is enough
To smell, to crumble the dark earth,
While the robin sings over again
Sad songs of Autumn mirth.
- A poem called DIGGING. ~ Edward Thomas
Emilie Autumn quotes by Edward Thomas
Nothing is lost ... only changed. ~ Diana Gabaldon
Emilie Autumn quotes by Diana Gabaldon
Why can't he be happy?" "I don't know," Niri answered. "But it isn't your job to make him happy. You are responsible for yourself." Niri touched her cheek and let her go. "I will see you tomorrow," she said before walking off. "Don't ~ Autumn M. Birt
Emilie Autumn quotes by Autumn M. Birt
Look, haven't you ever heard that musicians play from the heart? Well, I can't be expected to play in California when my heart's over two thousand miles away. ~ Autumn Doughton
Emilie Autumn quotes by Autumn Doughton
His wife, Emilie, still lived, without any financial help from him, in her little house in San Vicente, south of Buenos Aires. She lives there at the time of the writing of this book. As she was in Brinnlitz, she is a figure of quiet dignity. In a documentary made by German television in 1973, she spoke - without any of the abandoned wife's bitterness or sense of grievance - about Oskar and Brinnlitz, about her own behavior in Brinnlitz. Perceptively, she remarked that Oskar had done nothing astounding before the war and had been unexceptional since. He was fortunate, therefore, that in that short fierce era between 1939 and 1945 he had met people who summoned forth his deeper talents. ~ Thomas Keneally
Emilie Autumn quotes by Thomas Keneally
I rejoiced in the Burgundy. It seemed a reminder that the world was an older and better place than Rex knew, that mankind in its long passion had learned another wisdom than his. By chance I met this same wine again, lunching with my wine merchant in St James's Street in the first Autumn of the war; it had softened and faded in the intervening years, but it still spoke in the pure, authentic accent of its prime, the same words of hope. ~ Evelyn Waugh
Emilie Autumn quotes by Evelyn Waugh
My seams gape wide so I'm tossed aside
To rot on a lonely shore,
While the leaves and mould like a shroud unfold,
For the last of my trails are o'er,
But I float in dreams on Northland streams
That never again I'll see,
As I lie on the marge of the old portage
With grief for company.

When the sunset gilds the timbered hills
That guard Timagami,
And the moon beams play on far James Bay
By the brink of the frozen sea,
In phantom guise my spirit flies
As the dream blades dip and swing
Where the waters flow from the Long Ago
In the spell of the beck'ning spring.

Do the cow-moose call on the Montreal
When the first frost bites the air,
And the mists unfold from the red and gold
That the autumn ridges wear?
When the white falls roar as they did of yore
On the Lady Evelyn,
Do the square-tail leap from the black pool deep
Where the pictured rocks begin?

Oh! the fur fleet sings on Temiscaming
As the ashen paddles bend,
And the crews carouse at Rupert's House
At the sullen winter's end;
But my days are done where the lean wolves run,
And I ripple no more the path,
Where the grey geese race 'cross the red moon's face
From the white winds Arctic wrath.

Tho' the death-fraught way from the Saguenay
To the storied Nipigon,
Once knew me well, now a crumbling shell
I watch as the y ~ George Marsh
Emilie Autumn quotes by George Marsh
After dark vapors have oppress'd our plains
For a long dreary season, comes a day
Born of the gentle South, and clears away
From the sick heavens all unseemly stains.
The anxious month, relieved of its pains,
Takes as a long-lost right the feel of May;
The eyelids with the passing coolness play
Like rose leaves with the drip of Summer rains.
The calmest thoughts came round us; as of leaves
Budding - fruit ripening in stillness - Autumn suns
Smiling at eve upon the quiet sheaves -
Sweet Sappho's cheek - a smiling infant's breath -
The gradual sand that through an hour-glass runs -
A woodland rivulet - a Poet's death. ~ John Keats
Emilie Autumn quotes by John Keats
A sprawling North London parkland, composed of oaks, willows and chestnuts, yews and sycamores, the beech and the birch; that encompasses the city's highest point and spreads far beyond it; that is so well planted it feels unplanned; that is not the country but is no more a garden than Yellowstone; that has a shade of green for every possible felicitation of light; that paints itself in russets and ambers in autumn, canary-yellow in the splashy spring; with tickling bush grass to hide teenage lovers and joint smokers, broad oaks for brave men to kiss against, mown meadows for summer ball games, hills for kites, ponds for hippies, an icy lido for old men with strong constitutions, mean llamas for mean children and, for the tourists, a country house, its façade painted white enough for any Hollywood close-up, complete with a tea room, although anything you buy there should be eaten outside with the grass beneath your toes, sitting under the magnolia tree, letting the white blossoms, blush-pink at their tips, fall all around you. Hampstead Heath! Glory of London! Where Keats walked and Jarman fucked, where Orwell exercised his weakened lungs and Constable never failed to find something holy. ~ Zadie Smith
Emilie Autumn quotes by Zadie Smith
Cat wrinkled her nose. "No, thank you."
"Take," the rais told her. "Is good." He picked one up and held it out, and when she hesitated, thrust it at her with greater insistence. "With my people, hosbitality important. To refuse is insult."
She took a small bite. Sweetness flooded her mouth so that she gasped. It was not in the least what she had expected, for it tasted remarkably like the preserved medlars the cook bottled each autumn from Kenegie's orchard. "Oh..." She took the rest whole, saliva breaking from the corner of her mouth.
Al-Andalusi looked on, eyebrow cocked sardonically. "Is fig," he said. "In some tradition it was the friut Eve gave to Adam from the Tree of Knowledge."
"In the Bible that was an apple!"
"In our tradition, according to the Qu'ran, it was apple also. And when Adam swallowed mouthful od fruit, it stuk in throat and made lump all men have."
"The Adam's apple!" Cat cried, astonished. "We call it that as well."
"We are, perhaps, not such strangers to each other as you think. ~ Jane Johnson
Emilie Autumn quotes by Jane Johnson
The ocean-blue bowl won't
refuse to bruise, won't hold it back
from the gaping earth-wounds.
There will still come
water, chill wind and happy
goosebumps,
and in the utmost corners of oaks,
leaves laughing. ~ Bryana Johnson
Emilie Autumn quotes by Bryana Johnson
Women's words are as light as the doomed leaves whirling in autumn, Easily swept by the wind, easily drowned by the wave. ~ Ovid
Emilie Autumn quotes by Ovid
Corn wind in the fall, come off the black lands, come off the whisper of the silk hangers, the lap of the flat spear leaves. ~ Carl Sandburg
Emilie Autumn quotes by Carl Sandburg
Boethius says, nothing is more fleeting than external form, which withers and alters like the flowers of the field at the appearance of autumn; ~ Umberto Eco
Emilie Autumn quotes by Umberto Eco

Emilie Autumn quotes by Autumn Reeser
Golosh Street is an interesting locality. All the oddities of trade seemed to have found their way thither and made an eccentric mercantile settlement. There is a bird-shop at one corner. Immediately opposite is an establishment where they sell nothing but ornaments made out of the tinted leaves of autumn, varnished and gummed into various forms. Further down is a second-hand book-stall. There is a small chink between two ordinary-sized houses, in which a little Frenchman makes and sells artificial eyes, specimens of which, ranged on a black velvet cushion, stare at you unwinkingly through the window as you pass, until you shudder and hurry on, thinking how awful the world would be if everyone went about without eyelids. Madame Filomel, the fortune-teller, lives at No. 12 Golosh Street, second storey front, pull the bell on the left-hand side. Next door to Madame is the shop of Herr Hippe, commonly called the Wondersmith.
("The Wondersmith") ~ Fitz-James O'Brien

Touch of manner, hint of mood;
And my heart is like a rhyme,
With the yellow and the purple and the crimson keeping time. ~ Bliss Carman
