Teeth retracting, Lissianna pulled free of Greg Hewitt's neck and glanced guiltily over her shoulder. The sight of Thomas and her mother staring at her wide-eyed from the doorway was enough to make her stand quickly, her hands moving to straighten her clothes and hair.
"I cannot believe this!" Marguerite stomped into the room. "Sneaking around and unwrapping your gifts before your birthday like you're twelve instead of two hundred! What were you thinking?"
"Well, technically, it is her birthday, Aunt Marguerite," Thomas pointed out as he closed the door.
Lissianna tossed her cousin a grateful smile, but said, "I wasn't sneaking around. I came up to get fresh stockings." She scooped them up off the bed, and added, "And I didn't unwrap him."
Marguerite stared pointedly at the floor.
After glancing down to see the untied bow lying forgotten there, Lissianna grimaced, and admitted, "Okay, I did unwrap him, but only because he was upset, and I hated to leave him distressed." She paused, then tilted her head, and said, "I take it Bastien's arrival interrupted you before you could put the full whammy on him? He was upset about being kidnapped and wanted to be untied when I got here."
"I didn't kidnap him," Marguerite said with affront, then peered past Lissianna to Dr. Gregory Hewitt to say, "I didn't kidnap you. I borrowed you."

-Marguerite, Thomas, & Lissianna ~ Lynsay Sands
Dr Gregory quotes by Lynsay Sands
It's never nice to admit we don't know our friends as well as we thought we did. ~ Leanne Hall
Dr Gregory quotes by Leanne Hall
So let my hands and my face make their way in this world, let my hungry eyes see, my tongue taste. ~ Gregory Maguire
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory Maguire
Theresa strode over to us in a swish of cloth. "Enough of this, animator. He can't do it, so he pays the price. Either leave now, or join us at our ... feast."
Are you having rare Who-roast-beast?" I asked.
What are you talking about?"
It's from Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. You know the part, 'And they'd Feast! Feast! Feast! Feast! Feast! They would feast on Who-pudding and rare Who-roast-beast.'"
You are crazy."
So I've been told. ~ Laurell K. Hamilton
Dr Gregory quotes by Laurell K. Hamilton
If you make your heart into a weapon, you end up using it on yourself. ~ Gregory David Roberts
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory David Roberts
[Those who accept] the Americanized, Constantinian paradigm [say:] We are of God; they are of the Devil. We are the light; they are the darkness. Our wars are therefore "holy" wars. With all due respect, this is blatant idolatry. ~ Gregory A. Boyd
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory A. Boyd
You're a monster, Mr. Grinch.
Your heart's an empty hole.
Your brain is full of spiders,
You've got garlic in your soul. ~ Dr. Seuss
Dr Gregory quotes by Dr. Seuss
What is more, as J. R. R. Tolkien reminds us in his great essay on Beowulf, there is a danger that attends rational and scientific description: "a plain pure fairy story dragon" can be ruined at the hands of a logical analysis. The interpreter, "unless he is careful, and speaks in parables, will kill what he is studying by vivisection, and he will be left with a formal or mechanical allegory, and, what is more, probably with one that will not work. For myth is alive at once and all its parts, and dies before it can be dissected. ~ Gregory Alan Thornbury
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory Alan Thornbury
I've always thought a novelist only has one character and that is himself or herself. ~ John Gregory Dunne
Dr Gregory quotes by John Gregory Dunne
When you look at Hitler and those thugs, you can put Walmart right next to them. ~ Dick Gregory
Dr Gregory quotes by Dick Gregory
When i first saw him i thought he was as beautiful as a knight from the romances, like a troubadour, like a poet. I thought i could be like a lady in a tower and he could sing beneath my window and
persuade me to love him. But although he has the looks of a
poet he doesn't have the wit. I can never get more than two
words out of him, and i begin to feel that i demean myself in trying to please him. ~ Philippa Gregory
Dr Gregory quotes by Philippa Gregory
My wife gave me a book before we got married, Oh, the Places You'll Go!, by Dr. Seuss. She was trying to tell me something, about what I was capable of, but I didn't get it. Over time, I've sort of lived the message in that book, and I couldn't have without what golf taught me. So I put it in my bag while I played the Old Course, and on the last hole when I posed on the Swilcan Bridge, I held it up. ~ George Lopez
Dr Gregory quotes by George Lopez
Out at them, turning this way and that, his face cramped in an expression ~ Gregory David Roberts
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory David Roberts
From Adam's day until now men everywhere have tried to find their own way to meet God's standard of holiness. Has anyone been successful? No! ~ Dr. J. Otis Yoder
Dr Gregory quotes by Dr. J. Otis Yoder
I became friends on a social basis with a music professor (Dr. Alan Stein) who took a real interest in my work.He encouraged me in countless different ways, urged me to try different arranging styles, etc. ~ John Keltonic
Dr Gregory quotes by John Keltonic
The Paradox of Change: People can only change when they feel accepted as they are now. Dr. Arnold Beisser Pg 220 ~ John Kuypers
Dr Gregory quotes by John Kuypers
This was Stiletto magazine, not Dr. Phil. Stiletto was sex and high heels, not companionship and freaking clogs. ~ Lauren Layne
Dr Gregory quotes by Lauren Layne
God will be 'all in all' (I Cor. 15:28) when we are no longer what we are now, a multiplicity of impulses and emotions, with little or nothing of God in us, but are fully like God , with room for God and God alone. This is the 'maturity' (cf. Col. 1:28) towards which we speed. ~ Gregory Of Nazianzus
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory Of Nazianzus
Don't waste your courage on hating him. Keep yourself to yourself. And keep up your courage. ~ Philippa Gregory
Dr Gregory quotes by Philippa Gregory
When we deny thoughts our attention they cease to create conditions. ~ Dr. Jacinta Mpalyenkana, PhD, MBA
Dr Gregory quotes by Dr. Jacinta Mpalyenkana, PhD, MBA
Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends. ~ Alan Moore
Dr Gregory quotes by Alan Moore
You just don't get it, do you, man?' I said. 'In the '80s if you were in a rock band, when you asked for a hummer, you got a hummer.'
Dr. Roberts nodded and wrote something down on his pad. Maybe it was 'motherfucker'. ~ Stephen Pearcy
Dr Gregory quotes by Stephen Pearcy
Duncan,we're still in prison," Frederic said dryly. "You're not going to see anything except this cell. Which has spiders, by the way. Have you noticed the spiders?" "Indeed I have: Carmen, Zippy, and Dr. T," Duncan said. ~ Christopher Healy
Dr Gregory quotes by Christopher Healy
Pardon me for arguing, Dr. Thomas, but I'm a clone living in a post-zombie America. I'm pretty sure not asking for potential weapons would be a much worse sign. ~ Mira Grant
Dr Gregory quotes by Mira Grant
I feel that the same God-force that is the mother and father of the Pope is also the mother and father of the loneliest wino on the planet. ~ Dick Gregory
Dr Gregory quotes by Dick Gregory
Did you ever happen to think, Dr. Haber,' he said, quietly enough but stuttering a little, 'that there, there might be other people who dream the way I do? That reality's being changed out from under us, replaced, renewed, all the time - only we don't know it? Only the dreamer knows it, and those who know his dream. If that's true, I guess we're lucky not knowing it. ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
Dr Gregory quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
You have to sit with your longing and know that you may not get what you want; you have to encounter the danger of longing for something without the expectation of getting your desire. ~ Philippa Gregory
Dr Gregory quotes by Philippa Gregory
[Dr. Constain James] refuted so well the aberrations of Darwinism ... [A system] which is repugnant at once to history, to the tradition of all people, to exact science, to observed facts, and even to reason itself, would seem to need no refutation. But the corruption of this age, the machinations of the perverse, the danger of the simple, demand that such fancies, altogether absurd though they are, should - since they borrow the mask of science - be refuted by true science. ~ Pope Pius IX
Dr Gregory quotes by Pope Pius IX
The truth is the last thing that matters,' she said. 'And you can believe one thing of the truth and me: I keep it well hidden, inside my heart. ~ Philippa Gregory
Dr Gregory quotes by Philippa Gregory
Fanatics always seem to have the same scrubbed and staring look about them. They have the look of people who do not masturbate, but who think about it almost all the time. ~ Gregory David Roberts
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory David Roberts
He had taken George, my beloved George, from me. And he had taken my other self: Anne. ~ Philippa Gregory
Dr Gregory quotes by Philippa Gregory
I cannot think on the one without quickly being encircled by the splendor of the three; nor can I discern the three without being straightway carried back to the one. ~ Gregory Of Nazianzus
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory Of Nazianzus
The planetary cycles are thus the threads of eternity which weave the great tapestry of life in time". ~ Pam Gregory
Dr Gregory quotes by Pam Gregory
And it was in the midst of shouts rolling against the terrace wall in massive waves that waxed in volume and duration, while cataracts of colored fire fell thicker through the darkness, that Dr. Rieux resolved to compile this chronicle, so that he should not be one of those who hold their peace but should bear witness in favor of those plague-stricken people; so that some memorial of the injustice and outrage done them might endure; and to state quite simply what we learn in time of pestilence: that there are more things to admire in men than to despise. ~ Albert Camus
Dr Gregory quotes by Albert Camus
Does he think it's so easy? One smile, one touch and all is forgiven -Dr Maura Isles ~ Tess Gerritsen
Dr Gregory quotes by Tess Gerritsen
When he saw her, the water lapping on her scales, head down in the bath he had built especially for her, thinking that she would like to wash - not to revert to fish - he had that instant revulsion that some men feel when they understand, perhaps for the first time, that a woman is truly "other." She is not a boy though she is weak like a boy, nor a fool though he has seen her tremble with feeling like a fool. She is not a villain in her capacity to hold a grudge, nor a saint in her flashes of generosity. She is not any of these male qualities. She is a woman. A thing quite different to a man. What he saw was a half fish, but what frightened him to his soul was the being which was a woman. ~ Philippa Gregory
Dr Gregory quotes by Philippa Gregory
I don't lecture and I don't grind any axes. I just want to entertain. ~ Gregory Peck
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory Peck
You sank our toy ship /
sank it deep in the cake.
You shook up our house /
and you bent our new rake!"
~ Fish, to Cat ~ Dr. Seuss
Dr Gregory quotes by Dr. Seuss
Writing is not a profession, occupation or job; it is not a way of life: it is a comprehensive response to life. ~ Gregory McDonald
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory McDonald
I don't know what frightens me more ~ Gregory David Roberts
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory David Roberts
When the clergy addressed General Washington on his departure from the government, it was observed in their consultation that he had never on any occasion said a word to the public which showed a belief in the Christian religion and they thought they should so pen their address as to force him at length to declare publicly whether he was a Christian or not. They did so. However [Dr. Rush] observed the old fox was too cunning for them. He answered every article of their address particularly except that, which he passed over without notice... I know that Gouverneur Morris, who pretended to be in his secrets & believed himself to be so, has often told me that General Washington believed no more of that system than he himself did.

{The Anas, February 1, 1800, written shortly after the death of first US president George Washington} ~ Thomas Jefferson
Dr Gregory quotes by Thomas Jefferson
Human life is a voyage on a sea of meaning, not a net of information. ~ Gregory Benford
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory Benford
Gregory had been surprised when Seth came forward and took Gregory in his arms. "I am your brother," he whispered, but this he said in the ancient tongue, the ancient tongue no longer spoken anywhere under the moon or the sun. "Forgive me that I've been cold to you. I feared you." "And I feared you," Gregory confessed, the old language coming back to him in a flood of sorrow. "My brother." Queens Blood and Blood Kindred. No, something greater, infinitely greater. And brother does not betray brother. ~ Anne Rice
Dr Gregory quotes by Anne Rice
I don't think Dr. King helped racial harmony, I think he helped racial justice. What I profess to do is help the oppressed and if I cause a load of discomfort in the white community and the black community, that in my opinion means I'm being effective, because I'm not trying to make them comfortable. The job of an activist is to make people tense and cause social change. ~ Al Sharpton
Dr Gregory quotes by Al Sharpton
It's the business of your life ... and you're the CEO! ~ Dr. Gala Gorman
Dr Gregory quotes by Dr. Gala Gorman
Dr. Rush made patients ingest the solution until they drooled, and often people's teeth and hair fell out after weeks or months of continuous treatment. His "cure" no doubt poisoned or outright killed swaths of people whom yellow fever might have spared. Even so, having perfected his treatment in Philadelphia, ten years later he sent Meriwether and William off with some prepackaged samples. As a handy side effect, Dr. Rush's pills have enabled modern archaeologists to track down campsites used by the explorers. With the weird food and questionable water they encountered in the wild, someone in their party was always queasy, and to this day, mercury deposits dot the soil many places where the gang dug a latrine, perhaps after one of Dr. Rush's "Thunderclappers" had worked a little too well. ~ Sam Kean
Dr Gregory quotes by Sam Kean
Hens were wandering about like ladies at a lyceum tea trying to find their friends before selecting their seats. ~ Gregory Maguire
Dr Gregory quotes by Gregory Maguire
Tom hated to admit defeat, even in matters far less important than this. He believed that all problems could be solved if they were tackled in the right way, with the right equipment. This was a challenge to his scientific ingenuity; the fact that there were many lives involved was immaterial. Dr. Tom Lawson had no great use for human beings, but he did respect the Universe. This was a private fight between him and It. ~ Arthur C. Clarke
Dr Gregory quotes by Arthur C. Clarke
