I suddenly thought back to a time when I was crying on the playground in first grade. We'd all been working on an art project and I was put on a team with Chelsea, her neighbor Erica, and a girl named Mary Jo Myers. We were all supposed to work together, but the three of them cut me out completely, acting like I wasn't even there. If I spoke, they ignored me. If I tried to do something, they pulled it out of my reach. I was in tears by the time we broke for recess, sure nobody in the world liked me. ~ Stephanie Faris
Art Project quotes by Stephanie Faris
Being unemployed, Kurt set in motion a routine that he would follow for the rest of his life. He would rise at around noon and eat a brunch of sorts. Kraft Macaroni and Cheese was his favorite food. After eating, he would spend the rest of the day doing one of three things: watching television, which he did unceasingly; practicing his guitar, which he did for hours a day, usually while watching TV; or creating some kind of art project, be it a painting, collage, or three-dimensional installation. This last activity was never formal - he rarely identified himself as an artist - yet he spent hours in this manner. ~ Charles R. Cross
Art Project quotes by Charles R. Cross
By bringing Little Sun to Tate Modern and the London Olympics, I hope to realise an art project for those who typically have no access to global events of this scale. ~ Olafur Eliasson
Art Project quotes by Olafur Eliasson
If we follow the Buddhist logic that we are becoming part of glory of the universe, one huge consciousness, well, that's just too much togetherness for my taste. I couldn't even do a group art project in second grade. How am I going to share understanding with the rest of the creation? If this proves to be the case, I'm too much of a loner for death, but I'm also scared of being lonely. Where does that leave me? ~ Lena Dunham
Art Project quotes by Lena Dunham
It's been kind of extreme - people either love it or they don't like it at all - and I think that's a good thing. It's my first art project where there's not a middle ground. I find it very interesting. But the negative feedback hasn't at all kept me from doing it, obviously. Because I haven't really gotten any negative feedback that I feel is really warranted. ~ Tatyana Fazlalizadeh
Art Project quotes by Tatyana Fazlalizadeh
Hi, I'm Adele Czerny. I don't really have a long speech. I mean, I sat through these things when I was your age, and they're boring. I'm just going to say a few things about Noah and Raven Day. Did any of you guys know him?"
In unison, Gansey and Adam started to lift their hands and just as quickly dropped them. Yes, they knew him. No, they had not known him. Noah, alive, had been before their time here. Noah, dead, was a phenomenon, not an acquaintance.
"Well, you were missing out," she said. "My mom always said he was a firecracker, which just meant he was always getting speeding tickets and jumping on tables at family reunions and stuff. He always had so many ideas. He was so hyper."
Adam and Gansey looked at each other. They had always had the sense that the Noah they knew was not the true Noah. It was just disconcerting to hear how much Noahness death had stripped. It was impossible to not wonder what Noah would have done with himself if he had lived.
"Anyway, I'm here because I was actually the first one he told about his idea for Raven Day. He called me one evening, I guess it would've been when he was fourteen, and he told me he'd had this dream about ravens fighting and battling. He said they were all different colours and sizes and shapes, and he was inside them, and they were, like, swirling around him." She motioned around herself in a whirlwind; she had Noah's hands, Noah's elbows. "And he told me, 'I think it would be a cool art project.' And ~ Maggie Stiefvater
Art Project quotes by Maggie Stiefvater
I wish for you to stand up for what you care about by participating in a global art project, and together we'll turn the world ... INSIDE OUT. ~ JR
Art Project quotes by JR
Do you know what it takes to do [a global art project]? People, energy, glue. ~ JR
Art Project quotes by JR
People say if you're doing an art project, that's different from a book, but I honestly don't see it. I try and try, and I just don't. ~ Douglas Coupland
Art Project quotes by Douglas Coupland
About Soul Punk:
There was this moment where I worried FOB really wasn't coming back so I tried to make a hit record out of an art project. ~ Patrick Stump
Art Project quotes by Patrick Stump
Why is this important for school success? To get along in kindergarten, your child should know information like colors, shapes, seasons, holidays, farm animals, types of transportation, fruits, and vegetables - all the basics that children are exposed to through picture books, preschool, and life itself. He will be expected to demonstrate age-appropriate social standards and behavior. If he knocks over someone's art project, he should know to apologize and help pick it up. ~ Karen Quinn
Art Project quotes by Karen Quinn
I've been compiling a list of art project ideas for a long time. These are ideas of things I would love to see someday. They range from the practical - jackets with woodstoves in them - to the sublime - images of nuns on waterslides. ~ Misha Collins
Art Project quotes by Misha Collins
The world is full of bands and bullshit, and if I'm doing a stupid art project like rock 'n' roll then I want to spare my audience as much as possible. ~ Ariel Pink
Art Project quotes by Ariel Pink
Chus Martinez is a transsexual collective phantom. Anybody can be Chus Martinez! ~ Chus Martinez
Art Project quotes by Chus Martinez
The beauty of an art project is that you cannot always measure the impact, but one day it can become clear. ~ JR
Art Project quotes by JR
When the writer (or the artist in general) says he has worked without giving any thought to the rules of the process, he simply means he was working without realizing he knew the rules. ~ Umberto Eco
Art Project quotes by Umberto Eco
Remember The Poem ... ~ R.M. Engelhardt
Art Project quotes by R.M. Engelhardt
When I first came to Arsenal, I realised the back four were all university graduates in the art of defending. As for Tony Adams, I consider him to be a doctor of defence. He is simply outstanding. ~ Arsene Wenger
Art Project quotes by Arsene Wenger
It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done. ~ Vincent Van Gogh
Art Project quotes by Vincent Van Gogh
Culture is local; art, universal. ~ Marty Rubin
Art Project quotes by Marty Rubin
All art is infested by other art. ~ Leo Steinberg
Art Project quotes by Leo Steinberg
The arts (painting, poetry, etc.) are not just these. Eating, drinking, walking are also arts; every act is an art. ~ Cesar Vallejo
Art Project quotes by Cesar Vallejo
The arts' position in the school curriculum symbolizes to the young what adults believe is important. ~ Elliot W. Eisner
Art Project quotes by Elliot W. Eisner
I wouldn't want to do an average fashion line. I'd want it to be an amazing piece of art. ~ Rita Ora
Art Project quotes by Rita Ora
Creativity takes courage. ~ Henri Matisse
Art Project quotes by Henri Matisse
We live on the flat, on the level, and yet - and so - we aspire. Groundlings, we can sometimes reach as far as the gods. Some soar with art, others with religion; most with love. But when we soar, we can also crash. There are few soft landings. We may find ourselves bouncing across the ground with leg-fracting force, dragged towards some foreign railway line. Every love story is a potential grief story. If not at first, then later. If not for one, then for the other. Sometimes, for both. ~ Julian Barnes
Art Project quotes by Julian Barnes
Even if I could, I wouldn't want to undo the transformation of jazz into a sophisticated art music. ~ Terry Teachout
Art Project quotes by Terry Teachout
Art and love are the same thing: It's the process of seeing yourself in things that are not you. ~ Chuck Klosterman
Art Project quotes by Chuck Klosterman
Popular art is normally decried as vulgar by the cultivated people of its time; then it loses favor with its original audience as a new generation grows up; then it begins to merge into the softer lighting of ~ Northrop Frye
Art Project quotes by Northrop Frye
At the end of a project I get very weird, you know, in my head because I'm not doing it. It's like an addiction. I have to do it. ~ Roberta Williams
Art Project quotes by Roberta Williams
It was amazing how many colors there were, all running into the gutter in a stream: a dozen shades of blue, twenty different reds, and all that black soot, like a nightmare given form, the insides of a heart, destroyed so easily, done away with before anyone could stop the damage, or salvage what was lost, or even try to save him. ~ Alice Hoffman
Art Project quotes by Alice Hoffman
Bryan gaped, as though that was more than he'd been expecting. "Oh. Okay. Well, um, there's a silent film festival downtown next week. Do you think you'd want to go?"
I shook my head. "No, I don't think so. I respect it as an art form but really don't get much out of watching them."
"Huh. Okay." He smoothed his hair back again, and I could almost see him groping for thoughts. Why on earth was he asking me about silent films? "What about Starships 30? It opens Friday. Do you want to see that?"
" I don't really like sci-fi either," I said. It was true, I found it completely implausible.
Bryan looked ready to rip that shaggy hair out. "Is there any movie out there you want to see?"
I ran through a mental list of current entertainment. "No. Not really." The bell rang, and with a shake of his head, Bryan slunk back to his desk. "That was weird," I muttered. "He has bad taste in movies." Glancing beside me, I was startled to see Julia with her head down on the desk while she shook with silent laughter. "What?"
"That," she gasped. "That was hilarious."
"What?" I said again. "Why?"
"Sydney, he was asking you out! ~ Richelle Mead
Art Project quotes by Richelle Mead
We put on our walls what we think is beautiful or inspiring, and if others think that it is manufactured or shallow, then they need not have it on their walls. ~ Alexander McCall Smith
Art Project quotes by Alexander McCall Smith
I was at one point thinking about being an art historian, when I was in school. And not being an artist, but I decided I was going to be an artist but I'm really mad for art history and the masters mostly. ~ Robert Barry
Art Project quotes by Robert Barry
I'm very silly as a person, but quality silliness on-screen has more of an art to it. Harrison Ford, whom I was in 'Morning Glory' with, has mastered that dry funny better than anyone. ~ Rachel McAdams
Art Project quotes by Rachel McAdams
I'm beginning to see that there's a difference between art that trusts beauty's simple power to point people to God and Christian art that's consciously propagandistic. My Uncle Kenny, with whom I spent most of my time in Italy, said something profound
that you can make art about the Light, or you can make art that shows what the Light reveals about the world. ~ Ian Morgan Cron
Art Project quotes by Ian Morgan Cron
Making an art out of your technological life is the way to solve the problem of technology ... Art is anything that you can do well. Anything that you can do with Quality. ~ Robert M. Pirsig
Art Project quotes by Robert M. Pirsig
The word spirit comes from the Latin word for "breath" - spiritu - and the origin of the word spirituality has to do with breath and life force, the mysteries of the ancients and all this. The word is very suspect in much of the art world - the Western art world. Certainly, spirituality has become divorced from religious. ~ Chris Martin
Art Project quotes by Chris Martin
Like many of the kids I write about, I once was a runaway myself - and a few (but not all) of the other writers in the series also come from troubled backgrounds. That early experience influences my fiction, no doubt, but I don't think it's necessary to come from such a background in order to write a good Bordertown tale. To me, "running away to Bordertown" is as much a metaphorical act as an actual one. These tales aren't just for kids who have literally run away from home, but also for every kid, every person, who "runs away" from a difficult or constrictive past to build a different kind of life in some new place. Some of us "run away" to college . . . or we "run away" to a distant city or state . . . or we "run away" from a safe, secure career path to follow our passions or artistic muse. We "run away" from places we don't belong, or from families we have never fit into. We "run away" to find ourselves, or to find others like ourselves, or to find a place where we finally truly belong. And that kind of "running away from home" - the everyday, metaphorical kind - can be just as hard, lonely, and disorienting as crossing the Nevernever to Bordertown . . . particularly when you're in your teens, or early twenties, and your resources (both inner and outer) are still limited. I want to tell stories for young people who are making that journey, or contemplating making that journey. Stories in which friendship, community, and art is the "magic" that lights the way.

Art Project quotes by Terri Windling
Any project that I find encouraging that isn't attached to a studio, I can go to them, which I definitely would. You have to take an interest in what you do. ~ Al Pacino
Art Project quotes by Al Pacino
Mailer famously labeled writing the spooky art. He was right. There's a lot of frontal lobe blather, a lot of pencil-sharpening and knuckle-cracking and drafting and chat, but the big decisions are made in the locked subconscious, decisions not just on the writing but on the conditions for writing: I resolve on the one story I've never told and lo! Here I sit, holed up in a house that means nothing to me, bone-certain no other places will do. Art, even the humble autobiographer's, invokes occult necessities. ~ Glen Duncan
Art Project quotes by Glen Duncan
Art thrives in times of uncertainty. ~ Karen Thompson Walker
Art Project quotes by Karen Thompson Walker
Good art is always dangerous, always open-ended. Once you put it out in the world you lose control of it; people will fit it into their minds in all sorts of different ways. ~ Greil Marcus
Art Project quotes by Greil Marcus
Be still,25 and know that I am God, saith the Scripture. Excuse thyself from talking many idle words: neither backbite, nor lend a willing ear to backbiters; but rather be prompt to prayer. Shew in ascetic exercise that thy heart is nerved.26 Cleanse thy vessel, that thou mayest receive grace more abundantly. For though remission of sins is given equally to all, the communion of the Holy Ghost is bestowed in proportion to each man's faith. If thou hast laboured little, thou receivest little; but if thou hast wrought much, the reward is great. Thou art running for thyself, see to thine own interest. ~ Cyril Of Jerusalem
Art Project quotes by Cyril Of Jerusalem
I think that that's why artists make art - it is difficult to put into words unless you are a poet. What it takes is being open to the flow of universal creativity. The Zen artists knew this. ~ Alex Grey
Art Project quotes by Alex Grey
I want to be a living work of art ~ Luisa Casati
Art Project quotes by Luisa Casati
You have to be polite with your friends and your family, but in your art, it's important to not be polite. ~ Lisa Yuskavage
Art Project quotes by Lisa Yuskavage
Beautiful buildings are more than scientific. They are true organisms, spiritually conceived; works of art, using the best technology by inspiration rather than the idiosyncrasies of mere taste or any averaging by the committee mind. ~ Frank Lloyd Wright
Art Project quotes by Frank Lloyd Wright
Praying is the same to the new creature as crying is to the natural. The child is not learned by art or example to cry, but instructed by nature; it comes into the world crying. Praying is not a lesson got by forms and rules of art, but flowing from principles of new life itself. ~ William Gurnall
Art Project quotes by William Gurnall
Less is more, in prose as in architecture. ~ Donald Hall
