Romantic Barish quotes by B. J. Daniels
I'm Batman, so I could be your hero anyway! ~ Shannon Messenger
Romantic Barish quotes by Shannon Messenger
Bryn's back was to me, auburn hair pulled up in the usual sloppy-romantic twist. Soft murmurs came from her as she gently pruned dead leaves from a strange green plant.
"They're never going to talk back. You know that, right?"
She turned, suppressing her smile. "Shows how little you know about earth crafting. They always talk back. ~ Kelly Gay
Romantic Barish quotes by Kelly Gay
I'm now more about romantic beauty. The dominatrix thing is over. You never look as good in person as you do in 'Maxim,' but it's fun. It's all like a fantasy. ~ Julianna Guill
Romantic Barish quotes by Julianna Guill
To return to love, to get the love we always wanted but never had, to have the love we want but are not prepared to give, we seek romantic relationships. We believe these relationships, more than any other, will rescue and redeem us. True love does have the power to redeem but only if we are ready for redemption. Love saves us only if we want to be saved. ~ Bell Hooks
Romantic Barish quotes by Bell Hooks
Number 23 had plenty of redeeming qualities that made falling for him a justifiable accident. But our connection had nothing to do with our similarities, our differences, our aesthetic attractions, or our emotional and physical needs. When we spoke, he was truly with me. Our egos, our personas, expected social cues, the facades that everyone builds around them that are supposed to sculpt the way the world sees us, were stripped with Number 23 and I. He was immediately my best friend, familiar and safe - an epiphany that I had been spending my life alone in crowded rooms.
Our souls were naked. We initially curled into the warmth of that connection. But once we knew how real it was, we felt exposed, vulnerable, and raw. While his defense was his fearful recoil, mine was dictation. ~ Maggie Young
Romantic Barish quotes by Maggie Young
He couldn't live in a world with her and not have her in his life. Nope. Not happening.
"You're mine," he growled against her swollen lips. The words came out guttural as he held back the urge to slam into her. ~ Katie Reus
Romantic Barish quotes by Katie Reus
Our culture puts feelings first, but true love isn't based on feelings. That is why there are so many divorces today. When the early romantic feelings in a marriage do not remain constant ... many people believe divorce is the answer. ~ Billy Graham
Romantic Barish quotes by Billy Graham
The whole idea of genre and categorising films is a critic's construct. For me, I just try and make stories and see where they go, but there's nothing wrong with horror; there's nothing wrong with romantic comedies. ~ Ben Wheatley
Romantic Barish quotes by Ben Wheatley
A great deal of our modern trouble has come from mixing up romantic love, which is a poetic and anarchic impulse, with marriage, which is a social institution. ~ Bertrand Russell
Romantic Barish quotes by Bertrand Russell
Don't leave yet," he said, his voice hoarse. "Let me do something. Let me feed you. Hold you. Rub your shoulders. Change your oil. Anything, please. ~ Robyn Carr
Romantic Barish quotes by Robyn Carr
I want more than last night. I want you. ~ Donna Grant
Romantic Barish quotes by Donna Grant
Turns out there's a reason smoking is not allowed on construction sites. ~ Kathy Bryson
Romantic Barish quotes by Kathy Bryson
You miss the idea of him. There you go. Was that so hard? "That goes away, too," says your friend. Through the magic of the biological imperative, his brain has been reprogrammed. He has been forced to gloss over his own romantic carnage so that he might once again start down that road of procreation. He has nineteen layers of skin; you have three-fourths of a layer. They're all like this, the recovered. Sometimes you want to hop across the table, curl up in their laps, and beg to be made one of them. How does it work? Hypnosis? A chip in the neck? A radioactive spider with Xanax venom? ~ Sloane Crosley
Romantic Barish quotes by Sloane Crosley
She wondered, would their relationship gradually turn into something more? ... Time would tell! ~ Linda Weaver Clarke
Romantic Barish quotes by Linda Weaver Clarke
It's never simple." Avery slid an arm around Hope's waist. "It shouldn't be. Because being with someone should matter enough to be at least a little bit complicated. ~ Nora Roberts
Romantic Barish quotes by Nora Roberts
I detest love lyrics. I think one of the causes of bad mental health in the United States is that people have been raised on 'love lyrics'.

You're a young kid and you hear all those 'love lyrics', right? Your parents aren't telling you the truth about love, and you can't really learn about it in school. You're getting the bulk of your 'behaviour norms' mapped out for you in the lyrics to some dumb fucking love song. It's a subconscious training that creates desire for an imaginary situation which will never exist for you. People who buy into that mythology go through life feeling that they got cheated out of something.

What I think is very cynical about some rock and roll songs -- especially today -- is the way they say: "Let's make love." What the fuck kind of wussy says shit like that in the real world? You ought to be able to say "Let's go fuck", or at least "Let's go fill-in-the-blank" -- but you gotta say "Let's make love" in order to get on the radio. This creates a semantic corruption, by changing the context in which the word 'love' is used in the song.

When they get into drooling about love as a 'romantic concept' -- especially in the lyrics of sensitive singer/songwriter types -- that's another shove in the direction of bad mental health.

Fortunately, lyrics over the last five or six years have gotten to be less and less important, with 'art rock groups' and new wavers specializing in 'nonjudgemental' or 'purposely inconse ~ Frank Zappa
Romantic Barish quotes by Frank Zappa
I have never written a book that I wouldn't want to read. The trouble is, I love to read horror, sf, fantasy, mysteries, hero pulps - romantic fiction, in the original, traditional meaning of that term, as opposed to mimetic fiction. But most of all, I love thrillers. ~ F. Paul Wilson
Romantic Barish quotes by F. Paul Wilson
You're not so tough. No tougher than the man whose blood will spill from your veins. ~ Dawn M. Turner
Romantic Barish quotes by Dawn M. Turner
Since adolescence I've had a passion for Romantic Fantastique literature, which continued with Expressionism and culminated with the genius of Kafka. It's that German thread of the metaphysic - they were looking for the beyond in dreams. ~ Dumitru Tepeneag
Romantic Barish quotes by Dumitru Tepeneag
You've done her a service to teach her that romantic love is largely made of illusion." [said Mina.]
"Is it?" Alessandra asked, unable to suppress a worried sigh.
Mina looked at her as if she knew exactly what Alessandra was thinking. "I said 'romantic love,' my dear
not true love."
"But how can one know," asked Alessandra, "one from the other?"
"True love," said Mina, "is something that reveals itself only with the passage of time. ~ Barbara Quick
Romantic Barish quotes by Barbara Quick
One day he'd learn all her secrets… ~ Katie Reus
Romantic Barish quotes by Katie Reus
There's a moment in [Anne of Green Gables] where Anne Shirley (great character) […] is in the same classroom as Gilbert Blythe and she hit's him over the head with a slate, which is their kind of writing tool, and I always say that moment for me was just, I was just absolutely mesmerised. I thought it was so romantic, though she hated his guts. I would always say that in every one of my novels there is a moment where my characters metaphorically hit their potential love interests over the head with a slate. It could be that winning an argument or getting the upper hand, an example in say The Piper's Son could be here's Tom thinking it will be easy, text messaging Tara saying 'How's it going, babe' and her response, that for me is the hitting someone over the head with a slate. It happens in Saving Francesca when she kind of meets Will and Will's such a bastard to her. So they're moments I kind of adopted and I loved that particular one, so I would say [L.M. Montgomery] was a major influence. ~ Melina Marchetta
Romantic Barish quotes by Melina Marchetta
I think our society puts too much pressure on romantic love, and that is why so many romances fail. Romance can't possibly carry all that we want it to. ~ Donald Miller
Romantic Barish quotes by Donald Miller
There can be no doubt that our Nation has had a long and unfortunate history of sex discrimination. Traditionally, such discrimination was rationalized by an attitude of "romantic paternalism" which, in practical effect, put women, not on a pedestal, but in a cage. ~ William J. Brennan
Romantic Barish quotes by William J. Brennan
Love is a festering wound; a scab I compulsively must dig at deeper than the grave which calls me Heaven bound, for each day the Reaper comes to bury me safe and sound. Madly for it, I die... ~ The Raveness
Romantic Barish quotes by The Raveness
There, up in the sky, she noticed for the first time a gigantic mounded cloud, as large and elaborately moulded as a baroque opera house and lit from below and at the sides by pink and creamy hues. It sailed beyond her, improbable and romantic, following in the blue sky the course she was taking down below. It seemed to her that it must be a good omen. ~ Rachel Ingalls
Romantic Barish quotes by Rachel Ingalls
I love you to the moon and bed. ~ C.J. Carlyon
Romantic Barish quotes by C.J. Carlyon
Friends can be said to "fall in like" with as profound a thud as romantic partners fall in love. ~ Letty Cottin Pogrebin
Romantic Barish quotes by Letty Cottin Pogrebin
He pointed to the burning building as sirens heralded the approach of emergency personnel. "This is your job - this is your life. Blood and death and pain and vengeance and justice. And sometimes it sucks, but it's worth it."

Caleb sighed, but not in resignation. "I know this is the job, and it is worth it. But I refuse to believe it's my life. Not only and not forever."

Samuel pinched the bridge of his nose and waved dismissively with his other hand. "F***ing romantic. ~ G.S. Jennsen
Romantic Barish quotes by G.S. Jennsen
Heartland
Now that we've given our hearts away
With the bric-a-brac, we want them back.
Now we look for them secondhand,
Someone else's, in the old songs,
The slowly unfolding novels
We never had time for. Hearts
That taught themselves to fly;
…overstuffed hearts, still leaking
Downy secrets like feathers.

We want someone to say,
'I give you my heart', meaning,
'Summer and winter', meaning
'All my time in the this world'… ~ Lisel Mueller
Romantic Barish quotes by Lisel Mueller
Let's just sit quietly and listen to the secrets the rain wants to tell us. ~ John Mark Green
Romantic Barish quotes by John Mark Green
The wise are wise only because they love. The fool are fools only because they think they can understand love. ~ Paulo Coelho
Romantic Barish quotes by Paulo Coelho
Romantic haste in drama brings
tears and sighs when the hero dies
but the curtain fall is final
when in life we take the tragic way
The sunset too is a glorious thing
but with it ends the day. ~ C. P. Klapper
Romantic Barish quotes by C. P. Klapper
I'm always glad to help." His grin was as quick and easy as it was devastating to her panties. "What can I say? I'm a real dick that way. ~ Avery Flynn
Romantic Barish quotes by Avery Flynn
Well, that explains the dreamy accent. And why transvestites would make him feel homesick.
- SINGLE-MINDED ~ Lisa Daily
Romantic Barish quotes by Lisa Daily
The price of love is only love, ... one must love if one desires to be loved. ~ Honore D'Urfe
Romantic Barish quotes by Honore D'Urfe
For food to be romantic, it should be light. Too many times people plan a romantic meal, and the food is too heavy. ~ Jose Andres
Romantic Barish quotes by Jose Andres
I danced alone for a couple of years, and came to believe that I might not ever have a passionate romantic relationship - might end up alone! I'd always been terrified of this. But I'd rather not ever be in a couple, or ever get laid again, than be in a toxic relationship. I spent a few years celibate. It was lovely, and it was sometimes lonely. I had surrendered; I'd run out of bullets. I learned to be the person I wished I'd meet, at which point I found a kind, artistic, handsome man. When we get out of bed, we hold our lower backs, like Walter Brennan, and we laugh, and bring each other the Advil. ~ Anne Lamott
