One always goes back to one's childhood in the beginning, and I come from a very religious family and surrounding. Very religious. ~ Elie Wiesel
Religious Family quotes by Elie Wiesel
My religion is complicated. Literature is my true religion. After all, I come from a completely non-religious family. ~ Orhan Pamuk
Religious Family quotes by Orhan Pamuk
Why did I adopt kids? I dunno. Let me look at my family: religious weirdo, gun nut, biker, boozer, dead tooth, too many cats, the guy who talks to his truck. Hmm. Maybe I adopted because genetically my balls are full of poison. ~ Dana Gould
Religious Family quotes by Dana Gould
Muqtada belongs to the most famous religious family in Iraq, which is the al-Sadr family. He's really the third in line. [Muqtada's father] drew his power from the first really important al-Sadr, Muhammad Baqir, who was executed by Saddam in 1980, together with his sister. So it's really a family of martyrs, and that's why Muqtada suddenly emerged from nowhere with the fall of Saddam. ~ Patrick Cockburn
Religious Family quotes by Patrick Cockburn
I'm not a practice religion freak. I didn't grow up in a religious family, but I have a faith. ~ Robin Wright
Religious Family quotes by Robin Wright
I hear all the time that peace activists are naive, that it is impossible to talk to extremists--people who have no regard for the lives of innocents... But in my experience in conflict zones the world over, there are always people to talk to. From members of Hamas in Gaza to Baathists under Saddam's Iraq to the Taliban in Afganistan to government officials in Iran, it is a major blunder to label all our perceived enemies as extremists incapable of rational conversation. People join militant groups for many reasons--religious, family, social pressure, revenge for some wrong they experienced, political ideology, poverty. With such diversity of motives, the are always some people who can be enticed to talk about peace. Our goal should be to seek them out, to strengthen the moderates. Unfortunately, our actions have only served to embolden the extremists. ~ Medea Benjamin
Religious Family quotes by Medea Benjamin
My family is still very Southern Baptist, and they're religious. ~ Missi Pyle
Religious Family quotes by Missi Pyle
Mythology and history are my passion. I grew up in a religious family and learnt about our scriptures and philosophies. It's the language I'm comfortable with. ~ Amish Tripathi
Religious Family quotes by Amish Tripathi
My family is very religious. ~ Brendon Urie
Religious Family quotes by Brendon Urie
Members of weakly religious families get, of course, no religious training from any source outside the family. ~ Gregory Bateson
Religious Family quotes by Gregory Bateson
I was raised Jehovah's Witness. I was in Bible school at five or six years old, but I wouldn't say that we were a religious family. ~ Patti Smith
Religious Family quotes by Patti Smith
I grew up in a somewhat religious family. My dad's family isn't religious at all, but my mom's side of the family is, so I was exposed to church a bit. ~ Win Butler
Religious Family quotes by Win Butler
I grew up in a very religious family. I could read the Qu'ran easily at the age of five. ~ Akhmad Kadyrov
Religious Family quotes by Akhmad Kadyrov
I grew up in a very religious family, so that was never going to leave me. I just accepted it over the years. Although I'm not religious myself, it is so much a part of me. It's a part of my history, a part of my tradition and my culture, so I don't want to just throw it away and leave it behind, because it's made me who I am today. ~ Brendon Urie
Religious Family quotes by Brendon Urie
I've met the Dalai Lama briefly, but I would probably say my grandfather was the wisest person I ever met. He was my mother's father, an Indian, a family doctor, and very unlike me in that he was deeply religious. ~ Salman Rushdie
Religious Family quotes by Salman Rushdie
I grew up in a very religious family and it is the motivating force to every thing I do. I am fortunate to have had adults all around me who really lived their faith, in helping other people and doing the best you can do. ~ Marian Wright Edelman
Religious Family quotes by Marian Wright Edelman
My religious beliefs also defied convention, leaning towards agnosticism and pandeism. ~ Alfred Tennyson
Religious Family quotes by Alfred Tennyson
If God is all-powerful, then the Devil must be nothing more than a darkness in the mind of God. But if the Devil is something real and separate, than perfection is impossible, and there can be no God ... except for the aspirations of fallen angels ... ~ Tad Williams
Religious Family quotes by Tad Williams
We can't just rail against crime. We must speak of the root problems - devastating family breakup, an insidious culture of violence that cheapens human life, skyrocketing prisoner recidivism rates that rob our communities of husbands and fathers - and recognize that there is a societal role in rehabilitation and restoration. ~ Frank Wolf
Religious Family quotes by Frank Wolf
In the beginning God did not make a church or cathedral, he made a family. In the beginning God did not appoint apostles, or prophets, or pastors etc, he appointed a husband and a wife in the covenant of marriage. In Genesis, the first mankind gathering was a wedding ceremony, and not a worship meeting. After God, the next thing that came was marriage. ~ Taka Sande
Religious Family quotes by Taka Sande
A family on the throne is an interesting idea. It brings down the pride of sovereignty to the level of petty life. ~ Walter Bagehot
Religious Family quotes by Walter Bagehot
If we could but recognize our common humanity, that we do belong together, that our destinies are bound up in one another's, that we can be free only together, that we can be human only together, then a glorious world would come into being where all of us lived harmoniously together as members of one family, the human family. ~ Desmond Tutu
Religious Family quotes by Desmond Tutu
I am very close to my family, and there's something life-affirming about that. Even if you feel completely different from them and have totally different views on politics and ethics, you're still family and have that immediate acceptance. ~ Susanne Bier
Religious Family quotes by Susanne Bier
You ask 'Are you a man or a demon?' Neither, I say. I have woken up, and the rest of you are sleeping, and that is the only difference between us. ~ Aravind Adiga
Religious Family quotes by Aravind Adiga
I cannot always write at the same time, in the same place. I work, travel and have a vigorous family life. If I'm stranded in an airport lobby - I write. If I have to wait in a doctor's office - I write. If I have a morning or evening to myself - I write. ~ Carmen Agra Deedy
Religious Family quotes by Carmen Agra Deedy

It's almost inevitable that we become religious people. The question is, what kind of religion is it? ~ John Shelby Spong
Religious Family quotes by John Shelby Spong
My mother's love has always been a sustaining force for our family, and one of my greatest joys is seeing her integrity, her compassion, her intelligence reflected in my daughters. ~ Michelle Obama

There is no pressure to perform, to succeed, because we already have. If your family and community accepts you, who else must you impress? Just yourself and God, ja? ~ Sarah Price
Religious Family quotes by Sarah Price
I inherited the old family turkey farm, and I'm turning it into a fun place to go for my kids. ~ Douglas Carter Beane
Religious Family quotes by Douglas Carter Beane
Religious leaders will always avail themselves of public ignorance for their own purpose. ~ Thomas Jefferson
Religious Family quotes by Thomas Jefferson
Which meant it was time for the centerpiece of the celebration, the reason they were all gathered on Saturday, the weekly episode of what, as far as many of the Davidsons including Jody were concerned was the greatest television show ever made. Hee Haw. While Roy and Buck sang the opening song, everyone would bicker and talk back and forth, what was better about the show, the music or the humor, what have you, the natural result of 40 people crowded around one rabbit eared television set. But once Hee Haw started, the talking was over. After that, it was all about the love. And so was everything before, really. ~ Brian Holers
Religious Family quotes by Brian Holers
Europe today is the most secular region in the world. Europe is the only region in the world experiencing population decline. Wherever you turn today the more religious the community, the larger on average are their families. ~ Jonathan Sacks
Religious Family quotes by Jonathan Sacks
Fate makes us family. choice makes us friends. ~ Mary Anne Radmacher
Religious Family quotes by Mary Anne Radmacher
Our government has to be held accountable for enforcing the law. Tamir Rice, the fact that they could exonerate that police person [who killed him], and Tamir's family was charged for the ambulance to take him [to the hospital]. It's inhumane. ~ Marian Wright Edelman
Religious Family quotes by Marian Wright Edelman
Sammy is Upoopia!" my baby shouted and clapped his hands, instantly bringing all the furniture in the room to life. Couches and chairs upended their occupants and began to dance around the room recklessly.
"Outstanding," Satan yelled as he tangoed with a chaise. "My great nephew is tremendous". ~ Robyn Peterman
Religious Family quotes by Robyn Peterman
The Theory of Relativity makes nobody angry because it doesn't contradict any of our cherished beliefs. Most people don't care an iota whether space and time are absolute or relative. If you think it is possible to bend space and time, well be my guest. ...In contrast, Darwin has deprived us of our souls. If you really understand the Theory of Evolution, you understand that there is no soul. This is a terrifying thought, not only to devote Christians and Muslims, but also to many secular people who don't hold any clear religious dogma, but nevertheless, want to believe that each human possess an eternal, individual essence that remains unchanged throughout life and can survive even death intact. ~ Yuval Noah Harari
Religious Family quotes by Yuval Noah Harari
I do spend a lot of weekends on the road. I have to pace myself. It can be pretty busy, but I'm not out in the Afghan desert with 70 pounds on my back, away from my family for a year at a time. I keep a good perspective on it. ~ Gary Sinise
Religious Family quotes by Gary Sinise
Interdependence is a higher value than independence ~ Stephen Covey
Religious Family quotes by Stephen Covey
The human subject is a function of language and, from conception, is a subject of desire. Dolto believed that infants understand much more than is commonly understood, and that infants are in receipt of their family history, which is transmitted unconsciously from generation to generation. As a consequence, infant experience needs to be made sense of in language and communicated to babies so that they are not left alone with what might traumatize them in the womb during the process of birth or after birth. ~ Guy Hall
Religious Family quotes by Guy Hall
Unfortunately, I predict we will see a lot more of this type of behavior (and worse) as our culture progresses beyond Anglo domination. Many white people are beginning to feel like their world is being taken from them, and it causes fear and outbursts of violence like this.

Except nothing is actually being taken away, it's just now being shared. It's what is referred to as privilege. Before, we (white people) could assume everything catered to us by default. Everything spoke our language. Everyone (that mattered) looked like us. Everything reflected our beliefs (well, the religious majority, anyways).

Now, that is not the case. We are actually having to share space with others. What we are seeing with acts of aggression at restaurants like this is a sort of only-child selfishness taken to the extreme. We've been privileged for a long time now, and we don't like to share.

There are many privilege axes beyond white. There is christian privilege, straight (heterosexual) privilege, and male privilege. If you are angered by the acceptance of things counter to how you live, but do no actual harm, then you are probably a victim of privilege.

[In response to women wearing hijabs being attacked at restaurants, November 2015] ~ Michael Brewer
Religious Family quotes by Michael Brewer
You can say the Jesus Prayer from now till doomsday, but if you don't realize that the only thing that counts in the religious life is detachment, I don't see how you ever move an inch. Detachment, buddy, and only detachment. Desirelessness. 'Cessations from all hankerings.' It's this business of desiring, if you want to know the goddam truth, that makes an actor in the first place. Why're you making me tell you things you already know? Somewhere along the line - in one damn incarnation or another, if you like - you not only had a hankering to be an actor or an actress but to be a good one. You're stuck with it now. You can't just walk out on the results of your own hankerings. Cause and effect, buddy, cause and effect. The only thing you can do now, the only religious thing you can do, is act. Act for God, if you want to - be God's actress, if you want to. What could be prettier? ~ J.D. Salinger
Religious Family quotes by J.D. Salinger
Are you sure that we're related?" Lydia asked. "I see no resemblance at all. ~ Sarah Price
Religious Family quotes by Sarah Price
I have now disposed of all my property to my family. There is one thing more I wish I could give them, and that is the Christian religion. ~ Patrick Henry
Religious Family quotes by Patrick Henry
When I heard about the ease with which the Four had been removed, I felt a wave of sadness. How could such a small group of second-rate tyrants ravage 900 million people for so long? But my main feeling was joy. The last tyrants of the Cultural Revolution were finally gone. My rapture was widely shared. Like many of my countrymen, I went out to buy the best liquors for a celebration with my family and friends, only to find the shops out of stock there was so much spontaneous rejoicing.

There were official celebrations as well exactly the same kinds of rallies as during the Cultural Revolution, which infuriated me. I was particularly angered by the fact that in my department, the political supervisors and the student officials were now arranging the whole show, with unperturbed self-righteousness.

The new leadership was headed by Mao's chosen successor, Hua Guofeng, whose only qualification, I believed, was his mediocrity. One of his first acts was to announce the construction of a huge mausoleum for Mao on Tiananmen Square. I was outraged: hundreds of thousands of people were still homeless after the earthquake in Tangshan, living in temporary shacks on the pavements.

With her experience, my mother had immediately seen that a new era was beginning. On the day after Mao's death she had reported for work at her depas'uuent. She had been at home for five years, and now she wanted to put her energy to use again. She was given a job as the numbe ~ Jung Chang
Religious Family quotes by Jung Chang
Martha had come up with the nickname Godbee by accident when she was younger than Lucy. Dorothy Boyle had been referred to as Grandma Boyle or Grandma B, for short, to distinguish her from Martha's other grandmother, Anne Hubbard. As a toddler, Martha couldn't pronounce Grandma B correctly, or had misheard it, and had, for as long as she could remember, called her favorite grandmother Godbee. For some reason, it had caught on. Not only with everyone in Martha's family, but with some of Godbee's friends and neighbors, too. ~ Kevin Henkes
Religious Family quotes by Kevin Henkes
Once you've left the concept of family, you've left the concept of kingdom ~ Bill Johnson
Religious Family quotes by Bill Johnson
When religious leaders get involved in elections, it is usually with a reactionary social agenda. ~ Elizabeth Joan Smith
Religious Family quotes by Elizabeth Joan Smith
There is no sweeter manner of living in the world than continuous communion with God. ~ Brother Lawrence
Religious Family quotes by Brother Lawrence
I must not forget that these coarsely-clad little peasants are of flesh and blood as good as the scions of the gentlest genealogy; and that the germs of native excellence, refinement, intelligence, kind feeling, are as likely to exist in their hearts as in those of the best born. My duty will be to develop these germs: surely I shall find some happiness in discharging that office. ~ Charlotte Bronte
Religious Family quotes by Charlotte Bronte
There is no such thing as a foreigner or a neighbor, for all humans are your family. ~ Abhijit Naskar
