If only I can realize how ephemeral my life is, then I will never be able to hurt anyone. ~ Debasish Mridha
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Debasish Mridha
I've never cared that much for cementing my place in history. Sports is so transitory, so ephemeral. It just seems like so much nonsense comparing me to Helen Wills Moody or Suzanne Lenglen or anybody else from some other time. One lesson you learn from sports is that life goes on without you. ~ Billie Jean King
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Billie Jean King
Books are the mind's ballast, for so many of us--the cargo that makes us what we are, a freight that is ephemeral and indelible, half-forgotten but leaving an imprint. They are nutrition, too. My old age fear is not being able to read--the worst deprivation. Or no longer having my books around me: the familiar, eclectic, explanatory assemblage that hitches me to the wide world, that has freed me from the prison of myself, that has helped me to think, and to write. ~ Penelope Lively
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Penelope Lively
The state of mind above which my distraction floats like fog is suddenly perfectly clear, though the right word for it is less immediately available. Grief is too sharp and immediate; maybe it's the high pitch of the vowel sound, or the monosyllabic impact of the word, as quick a jab as knife or cut.
Sadness is too ephemeral, somehow; it sounds like something that comes and goes, a response to an immediate cause which will pass in a little while as another cause arises to generate a different feeling.
Mourning isn't bad, but there's something a little archaic about it. I think of widows keening, striking themselves- dark-swathed years, a closeting of self away from the world, turned inward toward an interior dark.
Sorrow feels right , for now. Sorrow seems large and inhabitable, an interior season whose vaulted sky's a suitable match for the gray and white tumult arched over these headlands. A sorrow is not to be gotten over or moved through in quite the way that sadness is, yet sorrow is also not as frozen and monochromatic as mourning. Sadness exists inside my sorrow, but it's not as large as sorrow's realm. This sorrow is capacious; there's room inside it for the everyday, for going about the workaday stuff of life. And for loveliness, for whatever we're to be given by the daily walk. ~ Mark Doty
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Mark Doty
He could focus my attention on how perfectly sublime life can be at times. Such moments are ephemeral, and without his guidance I might have missed many of them, working so hard to get somewhere that I would fail to recognize when I had arrived. ~ Kevin Hearne
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Kevin Hearne
I have always been fascinated by youth.

This fire that makes us feel glorious, insolent, immortal.

I will have to come to terms with it - everything has been reduced to ashes.
(I tried in vain not to burn myself in the way.)

I believe that the deep tenderness I feel for man comes from the fact that he is so full of certainty – yet, he doubts all the time. It is a funny paradox. He is constantly misled.

He gives great importance to things that do not have any, and misses those which have.

I would like to be like a flower. Going through life, just like this, regardless of whether I will be born again or if anyone will remember my beauty.

Just passing by like this, to make the world a little more beautiful, or a little more breathable, for a little while.

I would like to be a flower of those in the bouquets for the hospitals. Of those who are plucked to die near those who are going to die.

Or those who are just born.

So that we can watch life together for a moment, as long as it is there.

To die because I am beautiful and I represent life.

To die because the love of the flower never offers itself as a trophy, for the love of the flower is always humble.

And I love to love with humility.
We should always love with humility. ~ Emmanuelle Soni-Dessaigne
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Emmanuelle Soni-Dessaigne
I don't remember the rest of the dance. It's lost along with all the other insignificant passing seconds of my life. Me. Steven. Ty. Ticking away. I didn't know to savor that moment on the dance floor, to understand how beautiful and rare it was, how fragile, how ephemeral, when Ty was happy. When we were all happy, and we were together, and we were safe.
I didn't know.
I didn't know. ~ Cynthia Hand
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Cynthia Hand
Why would anyone who is deeply satisfied with reality, with real life as it is lived, dedicate himself to something as insubstantial and fanciful as the creation of fictional realities? Naturally, those who rebel against lie as it is, using their ability to invent different lives and different people, may do so for any number of reasons, honorable or dishonorable, generous or selfish, complex or banal. The nature of this basic questioning of reality, which to my mind lies at the heart of every literary calling, doesn't matter at all. What matters is that the rejection be strong enough to fuel the enthusiasm for a task as quixotic as tilting at windmills – the slight-of-hand replacement of the concrete, objective world of life as it is lived with the subtle and ephemeral world of fiction. ~ Mario Vargas Llosa
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Mario Vargas Llosa
Two Points of View

If I forget, -
May joy pledge this weak heart to sorrow!
If I forget, -
May my soul's coloured summer borrow
The hueless tones of storm and rain,
Of ruth and terror, shame and pain, -
If I forget!

Though you forget, -
There is no binding code for beauty;
Though you forget, -
Love was your charm, but not your duty;
And life's worst breeze must never bring
A ruffle to your silken wing, -
Though you forget.

If I forget, -
The salt creek may forget the ocean;
If I forget, -
The heart whence flows my heart's bright motion,
May I sink meanlier than the worst,
Abandoned, outcast, crushed, accurst, -
If I forget!

Though you forget, -
No word of mine shall mar your pleasure;
Though you forget, -
You filled my barren life with treasure,
You may withdraw the gift you gave,
You still are lord, I still am slave, -
Though you forget. ~ Edmund Gosse
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Edmund Gosse
Some find it hard to write emotively. I've had some people say to me that they simply cannot. There are two ways to try and achieve it, to either draw upon your own lives experiences or pushing your imagination into those circumstances and feeling how your heart reacts.
When I write emotively much of it comes from my own experiences and thoughts. But for some things it is not because I have experienced every emotion in my short life time already. It means I am able to imagine in my mind a given situation and feel how my heart reacts to those thoughts. Forcing myself deep into the moment of fantasy and not fearing how I feel. Some writers rely on this skill, not picturing it in their mind they are feeling it as though with their own heart even though the situation is not one they have found themselves to have been in. I believe I struggle with this, I challenge myself in some of my stories and writing that I do but I find myself favouring writing about what I know, what I have felt in my own life, love being most favoured but also excitement, worry, fear and of course sorrow. Many people will be happy to write about joy and happiness but would never write of their fears and weaknesses, feeling that for others to see you so exposed in a raw state of emotion adds to the agony of the original event you are writing about. Especially those who want to be seen as strong all the time, they worry that so show any emotion other than strength of positivity is weakness. This façade ~ Raven Lockwood

i wasn't made but i was created for the better intention i know my time is coming ~ Futty-fuze
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Futty-fuze
I recently concluded that there's no other explanation for how you and I could end up on the same planet, in the same species, in the same century, in the same country, in the same state, in the same town, in the same hallway, in front of the same door for the same reason at the exact same time. If God didn't believe in me, then I'd have to believe you were just a coincidence. And you being a coincidence in my life is a lot harder for me to fathom than the mere existence of a higher power. ~ Colleen Hoover
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Colleen Hoover
I'm share a lot of details, but 98 percent of my life is still private. ~ Stephen Amell
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Stephen Amell
I have yet to face Writer's Block and I don't believe I ever will. It is much more difficult for me to shut my imagination down to get a good nights sleep than it is to prod it to life. ~ Kenneth J. Ester
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Kenneth J. Ester
With theology as a code of dogmas which are to be believed, or at any rate repeated, under penalty of present or future punishment, or as a storehouse of anaesthetics for those who find the pains of life too hard to bear, I have nothing to do; and, so far as it may be possible, I shall avoid the expression of any opinion as to the objective truth or falsehood of the systems of theological speculation of which I may find occasion to speak. From my present point of view, theology is regarded as a natural product of the operations of the human mind, under the conditions of its existence, just as any other branch of science, or the arts of architecture, or music, or painting are such products. Like them, theology has a history. Like them also, it is to be met with in certain simple and rudimentary forms; and these can be connected by a multitude of gradations, which exist or have existed, among people of various ages and races, with the most highly developed theologies of past and present times. ~ Thomas Henry Huxley
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Thomas Henry Huxley
Have you ever wondered what a human life is worth? That morning, my brother's was worth a pocket watch. ~ Ruta Sepetys
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Ruta Sepetys
For all it's problems and difficulties, life is mostly a wonderful experience, and it is up to each person to make the most of each day. I hope you are successful in your life, but look to the heavens and the earth and especially to other people to find your real wealth. Wherever I am, wherever you go, know that my love goes with you. ~ Elizabeth Berg
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Elizabeth Berg
It does not matter what others think of how I lived my life. It does not matter if we go down in Temuge's histories as tyrants or even cowards. All that matters is what we do now. We are our only judges, Kachiun. Remember that. Those who come after will have other trials, other battles to worry about. ~ Conn Iggulden
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Conn Iggulden
Emily, there are enemies everywhere. We have to be on our guard, especially for the next couple of weeks.' Theo sighed unhappily. 'This is going to be the longest fortnight of my life.' 'That's saying something,' I joked, 'given how long you've lived.' 'Exactly,' he said, without smiling. ~ Pat Spence
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Pat Spence
The relationship that counts most in my life is the one I have with myself. I have a great, great, great relationship with myself, and it gets better and better as I get older. The other day, I was talking to Barry in the car and I said, 'I'm so glad I'm me!' ~ Diane Von Furstenberg
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Diane Von Furstenberg
My father started with nothing and is a self-made man. No matter what I do with my life, I can never match his accomplishments. ~ Tamara Ecclestone
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Tamara Ecclestone
The thing about me and books is that whichever one I'm reading always reminds me of whatever's happening in my life during that time. ~ Lauren Barnholdt
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Lauren Barnholdt
You look ... amazing!
And I have to say, I agree. I'm wearing all black - but expensive black. The kind of deep, soft black that you fall into. A simple sleeveless dress from Whistles, the highest of Jimmy Choos, a pair of stunning uncut amethyst earrings. And please don't ask how much it all cost, because that's irrelevant. This is investment shopping. The biggest investment of my life.
I haven't eaten anything all day so I'm nice and thin and for once my hair has fallen perfectly into shape. I look ... well, I've never looked better in my life.
But of course, looks are only part of the package, aren't they? ~ Sophie Kinsella
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Sophie Kinsella
Panic is an incredibly catalyzing creative force. And almost out of sheer necessity, I found I had to talk about myself and my real life as it is effectively lived by me. ~ John Hodgman
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by John Hodgman
I regard marriage as a sin and propagation of children as a crime. It is my conviction also that he is a fool, and still more a sinner, who takes upon himself the yoke of marriage - a fool, because he thereby throws away his freedom, without gaining a corresponding recompense; a sinner, because he gives life to children, without being able to give them the certainty of happiness. I despise humanity in all its strata; I foresee that our posterity will be far more unhappy than we are; and should not I be a sinner, if, in spite of this insight, I should take care to leave a posterity of unhappy beings behind me? The whole of life is the greatest insanity. And if for eighty years one strives and inquiries, still one is obliged finally to confess that he has striven for nothing and has found nothing. Did we at least know why we are in this world! But to the thinker, everything is and remains a riddle; and the greatest good luck is that of being born a flathead. ~ Alexander Von Humboldt
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Alexander Von Humboldt
What should we do? We have no wish to interrupt the destroyer's work of saving lives ... But war is war and the people being picked up out of the water are soldiers bound for the front; soldiers who are to shoot at our German brothers ... The question whether we are to perish in despair or defiance, or survive all trails with a live conscience, depends wholly and solely on whether we believe in the forgiveness of sins. This 25th January was the turning point in my life, because it opened my eyes to the utter impossibility of a moral universe. ~ Martin Niemoller
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Martin Niemoller
Find it incredible impossible not to cry when I hear Stevie Nicks's "Landslide," especially the lyric: "I've been afraid of changing, because I've built my life around you." I think a good test to see if a human is actually a robot/android/cylon is to have them listen to this song lyric and study their reaction. If they don't cry, you should stab them through the heart. You will find a fusebox. ~ Mindy Kaling
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Mindy Kaling
Jack: [Slowly and hesitatingly] "Gwendolen–Cecily–it is very painful for me to be forced to speak the truth. It is the first time in my life that I have ever been reduced to such a painful position, and I am really quite inexperienced in doing anything of the kind. ~ Oscar Wilde
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Oscar Wilde
It is easy to be calm when there is nothing to worry about, Eragon. The true test of your self-control, however, is whether you can remain calm in a trying situation. You cannot allow anger or frustration to cloud your thoughts, not at the moment. Right now, you need your mind to be clear.
Have you always been able to remain calm at times like this?
The old dragon seemed to chuckle. No. I used to growl and bite and knock down trees and tear up the ground. Once, I broke the top off of a mountain in the Spine; the other dragons were rather upset with me for that. But I have had many years to learn that losing my temper rarely helps. You have not, I know, but allow my experience to guide you in this. Let go of your worries and focus on the task at hand. The future will be what is will, and fretting about it will only make your fears more likely to come true.
I know, Eragon sighed, but it's not easy.
Of course not. Few things of worth are. Then Glaedr withdrew and left him to the silence of his own mind. ~ Christopher Paolini

Feydeau's one rule of playwriting:
Character A: My life is perfect as long as I don't see Character B.
Knock Knock.
Enter Character B. ~ John Guare
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by John Guare
And I understand my sisters when they say every woman has a story that's been told a maxim of one soul, maybe less
And that is why you'll never hear me call a woman slut, bitch or a dyke,
No matter what she does, because I do not blame her
I blame the men who have emotionally and physically raped her,
I blame these corporations whose images tell them they hate her,
And I put my arms on her shoulder and tell her how great to life and
to God that SHE created her ~ Mark Gonzales
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Mark Gonzales
There aren't a whole lot of things I want out of life. My bucket list is extremely short: Achieve the success in the industry I want, and get married. If I achieve both of those, I can die completely stoked. I don't need anything else. ~ Samuel Larsen
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Samuel Larsen
I realize my life here is much richer than I ever could have imagined. [Why one Canadian immigrant to Italy stays] ~ Ivanka Di Felice
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Ivanka Di Felice
Music has become my driving force behind my life, it to me, can fix bad moods, bad days, even bad people. It is the beat of my life. ~ Rian Dawson
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Rian Dawson
I can see he thinks he's the ultimate creation, and he seems to believe every woman here is his Eve, created from his ribcage for him to enjoy. I'm both aroused and infuriated, and this is the most confusing feeling I've ever felt in my life. Brooke Dumas, REAL ~ Katy Evans
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Katy Evans
It isn't very logical to live my life on goundless supposition. I have to assume the truth of the moment is the truth of the future. - Leah ~ Jacquelyn Frank
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Jacquelyn Frank
I want to be taken playfully, not seriously - not with a long British face, but with beautiful laughter. Your laughter, your playfulness is the recognition that you have understood me. Your seriousness shows that you have misunderstood me, you have missed it - because seriousness is nothing but sickness. It is another name of sadness; it is a shadow of death. And I am all for life. If it is needed for your laughter, your dance, even to reject me, then reject me - but don't reject the dance and the song and the life, because that is my teaching. ~ Rajneesh
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Rajneesh
Living in a foreign country is one of those things that everyone should try at least once. My understanding was that it completed a person, sanding down the rough provincial edges and transforming you into a citizen of the world.
What I find appealing in life abroad was the inevitable sense of helplessness it would inspire. Equally exciting would be the work involved in overcoming that helplessness. There would be a goal involved, and I like having goals. ~ David Sedaris
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by David Sedaris
I take my time. I want to be myself. I don't deny myself in the here and now. This is our practice - we call it aimlessness. We don't put a goal in front of ourselves and run after it constantly. If we do, we'll be running all our life and never be happy. Happiness is possible only when you stop running and cherish the present moment and who you are. Who you are is already a wonder; you don't need to be someone else. You are a wonder of life. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Thich Nhat Hanh
Since your father has escaped my justice, it is you who must hear my words."
"Words. You keep saying ... "
"Because that was the gift your father gave to me. And the curse that ruined me as well, changed my life to wretched misery. There are hours yet before the guard comes - nay, eons. An eternity, in fact. This is my time, Miranda. Now you will have your words back: before I kill you, you will hear my tale ... and you will know what you have done. ~ Tad Williams
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Tad Williams
I got incerdibly heavy boots about how relatively insignificant life is, and how, compared to the universe and compared to time, it didn't even matter if I exsited at all...
"Well I'm not talking about painting the Mona LIsa or curing limeter."
"Yeah?"
"If you hadn't done it, human history would have been one way..."
"Uh-huh?"
"But you did do it, so...?"
I stood on the bed, pointed my fingers at the fake stars, and screamed: "I changed the course of human history!"
"That's right."
"I changed the universe!"
"You did."
"I'm God!"
"You're an atheist."
"I don't exist!"
I fell back onto the bed, into his arms, and we cracked up together. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Jonathan Safran Foer
Perhaps this need to lie cost me something at first: but I soon realized that what are supposedly the worst things (lying, to mention only one) are hard to do only when you have never done them; but that each of them becomes, and so quickly! easy, pleasant, sweet in the repetition, and soon a second nature. Thus, as in each instance when an initial disgust is overcome, I ended by enjoying the dissimulation itself, savoring it as I savored the functioning of my unsuspected faculties. And I advanced every day into a richer, fuller life, toward a more delicious happiness. ~ Andre Gide
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Andre Gide
My album is very uplifting and positive and fun. That was my mission - to get people up on their feet and escape the seriousness of life. ~ Fleur East

I live for my death. While it is important how you perceive me now, It is more imperative how generations to come would perceive me ~ Sahndra Fon Dufe
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Sahndra Fon Dufe
I'm not sure I'm ready for another big research project just yet," I said.
Oh Yeah?" he said, handing me one of the beers. "What else you going to do? You can't fix nothing , you never worked a day in your life. The only thing you know how to do is hang out with niggers like us."
I nearly choked on my beer when he summarized my capacities so succinctly - and, for the most part accurately. ~ Sudhir Venkatesh
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Sudhir Venkatesh
There is nothing left to me but honor, and my life, which is saved. ~ Francis I
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Francis I
If you are lucky, there is a moment in your life when you have some say as to what your currency is going to be. I decided early on it was not going to be my looks. I have spent a lifetime coming to terms with this idea and I would say I am about 15 to 20 percent there. Which I think is great progress. ~ Amy Poehler
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Amy Poehler
I just love learning. I think learning is how you live. The verb of my life is learning. ~ Louis C.K.
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Louis C.K.
My goal in life is to be as happy as a studio audience. ~ Jim Gaffigan
Realize How Ephemeral My Life Is quotes by Jim Gaffigan
When I describe for my far-away friends the Northwest's subtle shades of weather - from gloaming skies of 'high-gray' to 'low-gray' with violet streaks like the water's delicate aura - they wonder if my brain and body have, indeed, become water-logged. Yet still, I find myself praising the solace and privacy of fine, silver drizzle, the comforting cloaks of salt, mold, moss, and fog, the secretive shelter of cedar and clouds.

Whether it's in the Florida Keys, along the rocky Maine coast, within the Gulf of Mexico's warm curves, on the brave Outer Banks; or, for those who nestle near inland seas, such as the brine-steeped Great Salk Lake or the Midwest's Great Lakes - water is alive and in relationship with those of us who are blessed with such a world-shaping, yet abiding, intimate ally.

Every day I am moved by the double life of water - her power and her humility. But most of all, I am grateful for the partnership of this great body of inland sea. Living by water, I am never alone. Just as water has sculpted soil and canyon, it also molds my own living space, and every story I tell.

…Living by water restores my sense of balance and natural rhythm - the ebb and flow of high tides and low tides, so like the rise and fall of everyday life. Wind, water, waves are not simply a backdrop to my life, they are steady companions. And that is the grace, the gift of inviting nature to live inside my home. Like a Chambered Nautilus I spin out my ~ Brenda Peterson
