All in the name of science and dangerous curiosity ~ Eliza Victoria
Project 17 quotes by Eliza Victoria
[Footnote:]Each male has from 2 to 790 females with whom he discusses current events. Of these he marries from 3 to 17. ~ Will Cuppy
Project 17 quotes by Will Cuppy
EPH4.17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, ~ Anonymous
Project 17 quotes by Anonymous
In the meantime, though, the race for the Republican Party presidential nomination sure seems funny. The event known around the world as hashtagGOPClownCar is improbable, colossal, spectacular and shocking; epic, monumental, heinous and disgusting. It's like watching 17 platypuses try to mount the queen of England. You can't tear your eyes away from it. It ~ Matt Taibbi
Project 17 quotes by Matt Taibbi
Even as a child I was fascinated by death, not in a spiritual sense, but in an aesthetic one. A hamster or guinea pig would pass away, and, after burying the body, I'd dig it back up: over and over, until all that remained was a shoddy pelt. It earned me a certain reputation, especially when I moved on to other people's pets. "Igor," they called me. "Wicked, spooky." But I think my interest was actually fairly common, at least among adolescent boys. At that age, death is something that happens only to animals and grandparents, and studying it is like a science project. ~ David Sedaris
Project 17 quotes by David Sedaris
Who cares about 17-21 year olds? Jack Myers does, and you should, too, if you want a front row seat on where the future of business and civilization is going. ~ Geraldine Laybourne
Project 17 quotes by Geraldine Laybourne
Becoming a genuine individual requires learning the oppositions within oneself. Those who fail or refuse to face the oppositions within have no choice but to find enemies to project upon. Enemy simply means a "not-friend;" unless a person deals with the not-friend within they require enemies around them. ~ Michael Meade
Project 17 quotes by Michael Meade
Who's the new Ramones, who's the new Guns 'N Roses, who's the new Motley Crue, who's the new Black Sabbath? They're coming, they're on the street, they're 16, 17 years old. ~ Nikki Sixx
Project 17 quotes by Nikki Sixx
I joined the Marines the week I turned 17, and that led to a few experiences that might qualify as adventure - eye of the beholder. ~ Daniel Woodrell
Project 17 quotes by Daniel Woodrell
Solidarity with local communities lies at the heart of culture-centered public relations because it seeks to co-create local narratives that have otherwise been erased from the mainstream public spheres (de Sousa Santos, Nunes, and Meneses, 2008). Local voices offer entry points for co-creating narratives that have otherwise been erased. It is through the re-appropriation of the community as a site of resistance as opposed to a site of neoliberal governance that new meaning structures are articulated (Beverly, 2004a,b; Spivak, 1988a,b; Tihuwai Smith, 2006). It is through these new meanings narrated at local community levels that the scientific modernist discourses of neoliberalism are disrupted. For instance, to the large-scale funding of the Human Genome Diversity Project (HGDP) with the goal of mapping ~ Krishnamurthy Sriramesh
Project 17 quotes by Krishnamurthy Sriramesh
Thall identified the things he loves most about his work - developing products and creating growth strategies - and he finds ways to outsource other tasks. The brand currently has 14 staff members working in San Diego who specialize in things like inventory management and human resources, which are aspects of the business Thall did not feel equipped to handle himself. "It's easy for a passion project to quickly turn into just another job if you are forced to perform tasks you don't enjoy every day," Thall says. ~ Anonymous
Project 17 quotes by Anonymous
I walked away from the sport for 17 years, then started swimming again recently in a master's program. ~ Mark Spitz
Project 17 quotes by Mark Spitz
Music does have a very special place in my heart. I enjoy it very much. I suppose it is my first love and I do a lot of it. It seems to be when you are making a project it inspires you sometimes to jot down something that you think fits the situation. ~ Clint Eastwood
Project 17 quotes by Clint Eastwood
There was a project at Lawrence Livermore National Labs where many years ago they went down this path for scripting and controlling very large numerical calculations. ~ Guido Van Rossum
Project 17 quotes by Guido Van Rossum
You try and nurture the relationship. This day and age we have to do a little more networking than we used to do. All that does is make sure you befriend the people you are working with on a project so you hopefully carry it over to the next one. ~ Aaron Zigman
Project 17 quotes by Aaron Zigman
Humanity has passed through a long history of one-sidedness and of a social condition that has always contained the potential of destruction, despite its creative achievements in technology. The great project of our time must be to open the other eye: to see all-sidedly and wholly, to heal and transcend the cleavage between humanity and nature that came with early wisdom. ~ Murray Bookchin
Project 17 quotes by Murray Bookchin
I'm inspired by love, by the moments that we commit to something with all our heart - be it a person, a project, an animal, anything really. It's undeniably inspiring, that acknowledgment of existence, that I love, that I care. That fills me with purpose. ~ Damon Runyon
Project 17 quotes by Damon Runyon
I was 17 when my body started changing, and I worried about what I did wrong. I went through a period where I didn't eat at all. I also had someone who was encouraging me to take diet pills. I pushed myself to the extreme because I woke up one day and had hips - and a butt - and thought, 'Oh my gosh, I'm getting fat!' ~ Shantel VanSanten
Project 17 quotes by Shantel VanSanten
The first time I played golf was in Flushing Meadows, Queens, when I was about 16 or 17. They had an 18-hole pitch-and-putt. My buddies and I would hop the fence and sneak on and play. ~ Ray Romano
Project 17 quotes by Ray Romano
Radical and violent manifestations of Islamist ideology, which sometimes appear to threaten Pakistan's stability, are in some ways a state project gone wrong. ~ Husain Haqqani
Project 17 quotes by Husain Haqqani
Oh, my family lived in 21 places before I was 17. ~ Dennis Kucinich
Project 17 quotes by Dennis Kucinich
It's phenomenally important to me that, if I'm going to be spending years on a project, I need to be interested in the whole thing. I'm not there to be on my own. And if I'm going to be with these people, I'd best be interested in their work. ~ Mary McDonnell
Project 17 quotes by Mary McDonnell
Force-backed humanitarianism, which relies on rational influence over events in other countries, may have been a more feasible project in the bipolar era of the Cold War, with its relatively defined and stable web of alliances and proxies. ~ Pankaj Mishra
Project 17 quotes by Pankaj Mishra
When I look for the next project, it's always about, 'Is it going to push me out of my comfort zone? Am I doing something different? Am I working with people who are passionate about what they're doing?' At the end of the day, if I'm going to be bored on set, then I'm not gonna be happy. ~ Amanda Crew
Project 17 quotes by Amanda Crew
Paul Theroux on Blogging, Travel Writing, and Three Cups of Tea

Speaking of books that contain an element of travel, Greg Mortenson's bestseller about Central Asia was in the news recently. Were you surprised by the allegations that Three Cups of Tea contained fabrications?

No, I wasn't. One of the things The Tao of Travel shows is how unforthcoming most travel writers are, how most travelers are. They don't tell you who they were traveling with, and they're not very reliable about things that happened to them. For example, everyone loved John Steinbeck's book Travels With Charley. Turns out he didn't travel alone, his wife kept meeting him, yet she was never mentioned in the book. Steinbeck didn't go to all the places he mentioned, nor did he meet all the people he said he met. In other words, Travels With Charley is fiction, or at least half-fiction. As for Three Cups of Tea, I think that philanthropists and humanitarians are even less forthcoming about what they do. I guess this guy did build a couple of schools in Afghanistan, but a self-promoting humanitarian is not someone I have a great deal of trust or belief in. I lived for six years in Africa and I've been to Africa numerous times since then. People build schools for their own reasons - not to improve a country.

The people I've known who've done great things of that type - you know, building hospitals, running schools - are very humble people. They give their lives to the project. Mi ~ Paul Theroux
Project 17 quotes by Paul Theroux
Listen to the people who love you. Believe that they are worth living for even when you don't believe it. Seek out the memories depression takes away and project them into the future. Be brave; be strong; take your pills. Exercise because it's good for you even if every step weighs a thousand pounds. Eat when food itself disgusts you. Reason with yourself when you have lost your reason. ~ Andrew Solomon
Project 17 quotes by Andrew Solomon
Think for a moment about the process that humans have used to record events throughout history. The first evidence we know of is paintings on cave walls. A little further along in time, after many intermediate steps, we see the development of writing. In the more recent past, we see the invention of the camera, audio recording devices, and ultimately video. The manner in which humans have recorded history (and to a lesser extent our own lives) has evolved. We've come a long way. Consider the implications of time. Much of the technology we take for granted today was pure science fiction 50-100 years ago, a dream 200 years ago, and inconceivable 500 years ago. Using these groupings of viewpoints, we can project into the future and categorize the possibilities. In ~ Todd William
Project 17 quotes by Todd William
Europe must dissipate any doubts over the euro, affirm that the euro is an irreversible project and act in consequence. ~ Mariano Rajoy
Project 17 quotes by Mariano Rajoy
Should We consent to an order of Cincinnati consisting of all the Officers of the Army & Citizens of Consiquence in the united States; how easy the Transition from a Republican to any other Form of Government, however despotic! & how rediculous to exchange a british Administration, for one that would be equally tyrannical, perhaps much more so? this project may answer the End of Courts that aim at making Us subservient to their political purposes, but can never be consistent with the Dignity or Happiness of the united States. ~ Elbridge Gerry
Project 17 quotes by Elbridge Gerry
The Venus Project presents a bold, new direction for humanity that entails nothing less than the total redesign of our culture. ~ Jacque Fresco
Project 17 quotes by Jacque Fresco
Ideas come at any moment
except when you demand them. Most ideas come while I'm physically active, at the gym, with friends, gardening, so I always carry pen and paper.
My first draft is always written in longhand. But once the first dozen chapters, more like short stories, are written, then momentum builds until I can't leave the project until it's done. ~ Chuck Palahniuk
Project 17 quotes by Chuck Palahniuk
We all know a mirror reflects us, if you look in it. If you move, the reflection moves. If you project from a mirror, meaning it will project an image, it's nothing to do with you. The world seen by nobody. ~ David Hockney
Project 17 quotes by David Hockney
The appropriate response to this gospel proclamation is to rethink everything in the light of the risen and ascended Christ and live accordingly. We rethink our lives (which is what it means to repent) not so we can escape a doomed planet, but in order to participate in God's design to redeem the human person and renovate human society in Christ. Salvation is a restoration project, not an evacuation project! ~ Brian Zahnd
Project 17 quotes by Brian Zahnd
The way I like to start a new project is to take a cover song and make a stab at it, ideally one that has nothing to do with the people in the room. ~ Jack White
Project 17 quotes by Jack White
Many Hindus are willing to consider Jesus as a legitimate manifestation of the divine ... many Buddhists see Jesus as one of humanity's most enlightened people ... A shared reappraisal of Jesus' message could provide a unique space or common ground for urgently needed religious dialogue - and it doesn't seem an exaggeration to say that the future of our planet may depend on such dialogue. This reappraisal of Jesus' message may be the only project capable of saving a number of religions. ~ Brian D. McLaren
Project 17 quotes by Brian D. McLaren
In light of the fact that God loved the world and sent His Son to die for human sin, believers who were loved when they were unlovely (Rom. 5:8) are to love unbelievers (Matt. 5:43, 44). Other New Testament commands concerning all men include pursuing peace (Rom. 12:18), doing good (Gal. 6:10), being patient (Phil. 4:5), praying (1 Tim. 2:1), showing consideration (Titus 3:2), and honoring (1 Pet. 2:17). ~ John F. MacArthur Jr.
Project 17 quotes by John F. MacArthur Jr.
Intellect without implementation is ignorance, not intelligence.

By definition: intellect is understanding objectively, implementation of intellect is intelligence, knowledge is a branch of intelligence (intellect plus implementation) and ignorance is lack of knowledge which is a branch of intellect (understanding but not implementing).

Further, this is why we call academics "intellectual" and knowledge workers "practitioners." One could be both of course. From a scriptural perspective, "If any man will do his will, he shall know" (John 7:17). Vast difference between learning and knowing. The gap is in the doing (implementation vs ignorant to the doing). ~ Richie Norton
Project 17 quotes by Richie Norton
Not a day goes by where I'm not reminded of Gollum by some person in the street who asks me to do his voice or wants to talk to me about him. But because 'The Hobbit' has been talked about as a project for many years, I knew that at some point I'd have to reengage with him. ~ Andy Serkis
Project 17 quotes by Andy Serkis
I was drafted when I was 17, and I spent two years, and I lost a friend in war. ~ Gavin Hood
Project 17 quotes by Gavin Hood
Think of the most discouraging thing that you are currently carrying or the biggest project you can't seem to tackle. Forget about how it happened, forget about how you got there, just look at the clock, and before that number changes, do one little thing to make it better. After you do, enjoy your moment of victory, and then do it again. In less than the time it takes you to blink, the past will burden you no more. ~ Dan Pearce
Project 17 quotes by Dan Pearce
The local cultures around the world that are carried by today's immigrant poor have been eroded by centuries of colonialism and are in danger of being extinguished by the onslaught of global capitalism's drive for commodified homogeneity. The church must reassert the Genesis wisdom of a "scattered" human family by nurturing diversity, and must reaffirm the Pentecostal vocation of native-language empowerment. For in the great narrative of the Bible, God's intervention is always subversive of the centralizing project of empire and always on the side of the excluded and outcast, the refugee and immigrant. The Spirit has busted out and busted up business as usual many times since Babel and Jerusalem, and she is waiting to do the same in our own time - if our tongues would but dare to loosen. ~ Ched Myers
Project 17 quotes by Ched Myers
Fast-forward to March 17, 2014, when the Los Angeles Times was the first news company to break a story about a nearby earthquake. Their edge? The article was written entirely by a robot - a computer program that scans streams of data, like that from the U.S. Geological Survey, and puts together short pieces faster than any newsroom chain of command could. This program earned the paper a few minutes of lead time at most, but today, those minutes are critical. ~ Stanley McChrystal
Project 17 quotes by Stanley McChrystal
Centuries ago, the irritant was established cultural authorities that shackled the mind in "self-imposed immaturity," as Kant said. But our emergence from immaturity seems to have stalled at an adolescent stage, like a hippie who hasn't aged very well. The irritants that stand out now are the self-delusions that have sprouted up around a project of liberation that has gone to seed, ushering in a "culture of performance" that makes us depressed. ~ Matthew B. Crawford
Project 17 quotes by Matthew B. Crawford
With BSG, sci-fi is the human experience taken beyond the envelope. When I first became involved with the project, I knew that I would be able to play a human being for many years, exploring and reflecting on issues that would impact people's lives. ~ Mary McDonnell
Project 17 quotes by Mary McDonnell
I'm 17 years old and there are many great things ahead. If I don't win the U.S. Open this year, it's not going to be a disaster in my life. ~ Maria Sharapova
Project 17 quotes by Maria Sharapova
If Rosie's mother had known that eye colour was not a reliable indicator of paternity, and organised a DNA test to confirm her suspicions, there would have been no Father Project, no Great Cocktail Night, no New York Adventure, no Reform Don Project - and no Rosie Project. Had it not been for this unscheduled series of events, her daughter and I would not have fallen in love. And I would still be eating lobster every Tuesday night.
Incredible. ~ Graeme Simsion
Project 17 quotes by Graeme Simsion
Since I've stopped drinking I'm way better at singing. I can project my voice better. I can actually walk on stage and make eye contact with the audience, which I never used to know how to do in the past. So, it's made a huge difference for me. ~ Ladyhawke
Project 17 quotes by Ladyhawke
I had no idea what I wanted to be when I was 17. I just knew I wanted to be something larger than myself. ~ Shelley Hennig
Project 17 quotes by Shelley Hennig
When I started doing standup when I was 17, I was talking about being Indian and specifically ethnic jokes. Straightforward stuff that was fairly ignorant that I knew would get the laugh. It wasn't flipping stereotypes; it was using them. ~ Hari Kondabolu
