Some people have loved ones they will not forsake, even though they are a pain in the neck. ~ Lewis B. Smedes
Neck Pain quotes by Lewis B. Smedes
They read the names out from sixth place to first. We were standing backstage behind a huge curtain, and Rachael and Evgeni were right next to us. Swell. I thought maybe we stood a chance of coming in fourth. But they didn't call us. "This is crazy!" I whispered to Aneta. "We're top three?" Then they called a German couple. We were in the top two!
Rachael smiled at me. "Oh, Derek! Great job!" she said. What she really meant was, "We're going to take first place and you can have our sloppy seconds." Then we heard, "In second place, from England…" Rachael's face went white as a ghost. She and Evgeni were second! That left only one place for us…
"Derek Hough and Aneta Piotrovska are world champions!"
I started screaming, "What? What?" and jumping up and down. So much for my neck pain. This wasn't real; it couldn't be! I ran out from behind the curtain, pumping my fists in the air. I caught a glimpse of Rachael's face. She was beyond pissed.
"We did it! We did it!" I yelled. The rest happened in slow motion: I ran out and jumped off the stage and the floor. While I was midair, I remember thinking, " I'm wearing these Cuban heels. This isn't gonna be good." Then I hit the floor and my legs buckled. I fell into a roll, then stood straight up--as if I meant to do it all along. I limped over to Aneta to collect our trophy and we hugged. I didn't give a crap about anything else. Not my neck or my knees or Rachael fuming as they snapped pictures of all of us. It was ~ Derek Hough
Neck Pain quotes by Derek Hough
Love your neighbor ... and in doing so, do it as you love yourself! Take up the loads that will cause your neighbor a neck pain; don't put a heavy cross over his/her neck! ~ Israelmore Ayivor
Neck Pain quotes by Israelmore Ayivor
Chiropractic care is the only real, long-lasting relief that I have found for my neck pain due to an old injury. ~ James Arness
Neck Pain quotes by James Arness
I am a bull. I am Taurus. My will is awful. If I like something, there is nothing else. I was a pain in the neck. I still am a pain in the neck. ~ Elsa Peretti
Neck Pain quotes by Elsa Peretti
In all human endeavors that deal with what is unthinkable, too terrible to be dealt with squarely, we turn to what is familiar and regimented: funerals, wakes, and even wars. Now, in this trial, we had gone beyond our empathy with the pain of the victims and our niggling realization that the defendant was a fragmented personality. He knew the rules, he even knew a great deal about the law, but he did not seem to be cognizant of what was about to happen to him. He seemed to consider himself irrefragable. And what was about to happen to him was vital for the good of society. I could not refute that. It had to be, but it seemed hollow that none of us understood that his ego, our egos and the rituals of the courtroom itself, the jokes and the nervous laughter were veiling the gut reactions that we should all be facing. We were all on "this railroad train running … ~ Ann Rule
Neck Pain quotes by Ann Rule
True pain can only come gradually. It is exactly like tuberculosis in that the disease has already progressed to a critical stage before the patient becomes aware of its symptoms. ~ Yukio Mishima
Neck Pain quotes by Yukio Mishima
What if this were Hell, this absence of sleep, this poet's desert, this pain of living, this dying of not dying, this anguish of shadows, this passion over death and light. ~ Leopold Sedar Senghor
Neck Pain quotes by Leopold Sedar Senghor
You're awfully quiet," Marlboro Man said, his hand resting on the back of my head.
"Am I?" I asked, playing dumb. "I don't mean to be."
"You're not your usual self," he responded, his hand finding the back of my neck. A million tingles traveled down my spine.
"Oh, I'm fine," I said, trying to appear strong and together. "I think that twenty-mile run got the best of me today."
Marlboro Man chuckled. I'd hoped that would happen. "Twenty miles? That's a mighty big golf course," he remarked. We both laughed, well aware that I was way too much of a pansy-ass to run such a distance. ~ Ree Drummond
Neck Pain quotes by Ree Drummond
In Advance of All Parting is a tough, unsentimental examination of marital grief. Musically elegant and inventive, understated and passionate, the poems give us a profound glimpse into how the events of a life can form a center of gravity that fixes the self in its force field. Theres a cold, truth-telling clarity about them that makes them as unsettling as they are beautiful. Ansie Baird has created a richly-drawn world in which this elemental drama plays out, and the result is vivid, startling poems in which pain has left its indelible tracks. ~ Chase Twichell
Neck Pain quotes by Chase Twichell
The safest and most suitable form of penance seems to be that which causes pain in the flesh but does not penetrate to the bones, that is, which causes suffering but not sickness. ~ Saint Ignatius
Neck Pain quotes by Saint Ignatius
Obviously, the real issue has nothing to do with fear itself, but, rather, how we hold the fear. For some, the fear is totally irrelevant. For others, it creates a state of paralysis. The former hold their fear from a position of power (choice, energy, and action), and the latter hold it from a position of pain (helplessness, depression, and paralysis). ~ Susan Jeffers
Neck Pain quotes by Susan Jeffers
The pain of loving your boyfriend to a point that u can't even cheat on him ~ Gugu Mofokeng
Neck Pain quotes by Gugu Mofokeng
SHE FELT a hard pinch on her neck. "Hey!" she protested. Her eyelids flew open. The light was unbearably bright, just as painful, but everything was gauzy and indistinct, like there was a white scrim over everything. She wondered whether she'd fallen back asleep for several hours. ~ Joseph Finder
Neck Pain quotes by Joseph Finder
Except he and I know that some pain burrows so deep, no narcotic can ever soothe it. It's etched on your bones. It hides in your marrow, like cancer. If the boy survives, the pain is a memory he won't want. ~ Shaun David Hutchinson
Neck Pain quotes by Shaun David Hutchinson
That's why they call it a heartbreak. Because you really feel like your heart is breaking. It's not just an emotion pain, it's a physical pain too. ~ Jerilee Kaye
Neck Pain quotes by Jerilee Kaye
Her heart swelled up with misery, until it felt too large for her bosom. It beat with odd little jerks; her hands were cold, and a feeling of disaster oppressed her. There were pain and bewilderment in her face, the bewilderment of a pampered chhild who has always had her own way for the asking and who now, for the first time, was in contact with the unplesantness of life. ~ Margaret Mitchell
Neck Pain quotes by Margaret Mitchell
To people who think I'm happy, just look again; the scars of my past will lead you to a place no one knows, a place no other person can imagine, a place that echoes with the desolate cries of a lonely heart, a place where I'm being stabbed to death hundreds of times. ~ Manoj Kumar Duppala
Neck Pain quotes by Manoj Kumar Duppala
Annabeth wailed in rage, judo-flipping the monster and dropping on its neck, putting her whole body weight into an elbow strike that would've made any pro wrestler proud. ~ Rick Riordan
Neck Pain quotes by Rick Riordan
He tunneled his dirty hands through her hair and kissed her breathless. Her neck, her eyes, the corners of her mouth. He kissed her lips as if his life depended on it. Kissed their future into her. All they could have and all they could be. ~ Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Neck Pain quotes by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Remember that life is neither pain nor pleasure; it is serious business, to be entered upon with courage and in a spirit of self-sacrifice. ~ Alexis De Tocqueville
Neck Pain quotes by Alexis De Tocqueville
Never abandon your dreams due to encounter with a hurdle. Seek grace to overcome the hurdle. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Neck Pain quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Jesus," I said. "That was bad."
Seth looked startled - and then hurt. "Bad?"
"No, not performance bad - more like dirty, wicked bad. The kind of stuff that gets an R rating."
"What, we can't do that?" He stepped forward and wrapped his arms around my waist, nuzzling my neck.
"Well, yeah ... er, well, damn it. We're not supposed to be. Not at all. It's just that last time, it was like ... I don't know. It was making love. This time it was ... "
"Fucking?" he supplied.
"Oh God," I groaned. "Seth Mortensen just said 'fucking' out loud. The end times are near. ~ Richelle Mead
Neck Pain quotes by Richelle Mead
All that is left to bring you pain, are the memories. If you face those, you'll be free. You can't spend the rest of your life hiding from yourself; always afraid that your memories will incapacitate you, and they will if you continue to bury them. ~ J.D. Stroube
Neck Pain quotes by J.D. Stroube
I remember a scared, young girl hiding in the guise of arrogance and rebellion. I remember feeling lost in a world where everyone else seemed to have it all figured out. I remember the tears of pain, the rants of anger and the hell that seemed to have swallowed me whole. Although I remember these things, it is now, over a decade later, more like a story that I find hard to believe. Did it all really happen? Even as I write this, my eyes begin to swell. It really did happen. I was that girl. And I'm sorry she had to suffer so. But, that is over now... ~ Karen Michelle Miller
Neck Pain quotes by Karen Michelle Miller
Tell me again about the girl whose hands
have no color. Whose hands are completely
white. This time make them damned, or
untouched, or have her open a red umbrella
or point at some maple leaves and damned
near cry. Those hands. As freakish goes,
I wish I had a tail. Maybe then you'd know
how much I like you. It shakes me through,
damn through. It shakes me. When she carries
a peacock feather. When she touches her neck
or thighs. You're a person. It's not so bad.
You have hands. You are a person with hands
to hold things. Things you like. Tremendous
things. Tell me what you will hold today. I
know there is room for everything. There is no
need to be ceremonious. Tell what gets let go. ~ Rebecca Wadlinger
Neck Pain quotes by Rebecca Wadlinger
We will not open healed wounds!"
"My wounds are not healed!" I stated just as firmly. "They will never be healed until justice is done! ~ V.C. Andrews
Neck Pain quotes by V.C. Andrews
When we encounter a friend who's depressed or afraid, we automatically try to take that distress away and to cheer the person up. While we may be operating with the best of intentions, this Band-Aid approach only reinforces the condition. Unless people experience their pain completely and begin to undrstand it, they will not only fail to overcome it, they'll also lose the opportunity of using it to advance their own growth. Pain can get you somewhere, and that somewhere can be a life-enhancing experience. We all tend to forget that pain can signal change. Alleviating the symptoms of pain in someone, without helping them to get at its underlying source, robs them of an important to for self-exploration. It's also a way of placating that reinforces the person'S need to cave in and succumb to another. This attitude undermines healthy character development and contributes to psychospiritual, moral, and ultimately social decay. ~ Adele Von Rust McCormick
Neck Pain quotes by Adele Von Rust McCormick
It's been three years since I've touched someone. I don't want to give you pain with these hands. I just want to feel. ~ Keri Lake
Neck Pain quotes by Keri Lake
I clung tighter and tighter to my mother. I became a ball and chain around her neck. I could sense her reluctance, fell her urge to pull away from me. I didn't care. I clung harder and tighter than ever. One horrible afternoon, while I was watching my mother smiling at me from her NordicTrack, our separateness hit me like a bolt of lightning. I doubled over with anxiety and tried not to think about puking. ~ Terry Spencer Hesser
Neck Pain quotes by Terry Spencer Hesser
Your scars, your flaws, your fears, your pain - they're mine too. ~ Siobhan Davis
Neck Pain quotes by Siobhan Davis
You can pretend that bad things will never happen. But life's a lot easier if you realize and admit that sometimes they do. ~ Lois Lowry
Neck Pain quotes by Lois Lowry
Time is a healer. Time is God. ~ Sadhana Devi Chauhan
Neck Pain quotes by Sadhana Devi Chauhan
Pain is unjust, and all the arguments That cannot soothe it only rouse suspicion. ~ Jean Racine
Neck Pain quotes by Jean Racine
Scars are your body's way of healing, making that damaged part stronger than it ever was before the pain. ~ Elle Casey
Neck Pain quotes by Elle Casey
He reached for me, and fast as lightning, he boxed my ears. All I remember is the world exploding. Cassandra says she helped me back to our room, and there was blood coming from my left ear. My right ear mended in a day or two, but I could only hear a little out of the left one, and there was a beating pain deep down. Soon I took ill with fever. Mama said that had nothing to do with the ear, but I think it did."
Pandora paused, unwilling to relate any of the distasteful details of her ear suppurating and draining. She glanced cautiously at Gabriel, whose face was averted. He was no longer playing with her braid. His hand had clenched around it until the muscles of his forearms and wrist stood out.
"Even after I recovered from the fever," Pandora said, "the hearing didn't come back all the way. But the worst part was that I kept losing my balance, especially at night. It made me afraid of the dark. Ever since then-" She stopped as Gabriel lifted his head.
His face was hard and murderous, the hellfrost in his eyes frightening her more than her father's fury ever had.
"That bloody son of a bitch," he said softly. "If he were still alive, I'd beat him with a thresher's flail."
Pandora reached out with a fluttering motion, patting the air near him. "No," she said breathlessly, "no, I wouldn't want that. I hated him for a long time, but now I feel sorry for him."
Gabriel caught her hand in midair, swift but gentle, as if it were a bird he wanted to hol ~ Lisa Kleypas
Neck Pain quotes by Lisa Kleypas
I have withdrawal pains about not getting to work the people (on the show). ~ Amy Poehler
Neck Pain quotes by Amy Poehler
Sometimes the process of growth looks a lot like destruction and pain. But you'll realize with time that you're not breaking; you're healing. ~ Brittany Burgunder
Neck Pain quotes by Brittany Burgunder
I always hated when my scars started to fade, because as long as I could still see them, I knew why I was hurting. ~ Jodi Picoult
Neck Pain quotes by Jodi Picoult
If you can sit with your pain, listen to your pain and respect your pain - in time you will move through your pain. ~ Bryant McGill
Neck Pain quotes by Bryant McGill
An open mind is like to an open wound. Vulnerable to poison. Liable to fester. Apt to give its owner only pain. ~ Joe Abercrombie
Neck Pain quotes by Joe Abercrombie
Fear and pain and suffering is not OK for any being to feel intentionally at the hands of us. ~ Leona Lewis
Neck Pain quotes by Leona Lewis
As he sat up, he heard soft dripping sounds from the bathroom, little plips like water slipping over the edges of the tub and into the floor. The hairs on the back of his neck rose as he realized where he‟d last heard that sound. His muscles tight with strain from his earlier exertions, he stood and walked warily toward the half open bathroom door and the tub beyond it. Slipping quietly past the door, he saw that the curtain was drawn, and again the shadowed figure lay behind it. One long, slim, leg dangled from the end of the tub, beads of water gliding down its length and off the polished toes. At the other end he saw a mass of auburn curls, matted deep red near the porcelain of the tub. It was the dream and the vision again, more real now, too strong to deny. Shaking, he moved toward the curtain, gagging on the sickly smell of rust and roses, feeling the thin nylon glide between thumb and palm as he pulled it back to reveal his darkest nightmare and deepest regret. He could see the crimson water now, blood bubbles gliding over its surface and clinging to the legs dangling over the tub‟s edge. When he‟d pulled the curtain completely away from the tub and around to its opposite side, he saw her face. Her eyes were closed and he saw that her lids were bruised and purple against the translucent paleness of her face, drained completely dead white under the makeup she‟d brushed on before she‟d died. Staggering by the sight of her, he knelt by the tub and extended one shaking han ~ Amanda M. Lyons
Neck Pain quotes by Amanda M. Lyons
Aren't you worn out from running?" His lips follow a tear down my neck, and then he brushes my face with his hand. "I don't want to live without you another day. I'm begging you for another chance. Please. ~ Willow Aster
Neck Pain quotes by Willow Aster
He looked at her. That was the first time I had seen him give her a direct and explicit look, and, since she was just off the line from him to me, I had a good view of it. It demolished one detail of his exposition - the claim that a man of his training and temperament couldn't possibly commit a murder. His look at her was perfect for a guy about to put a cord around a neck and pull tight. It was just one swift, ugly flash, and then he returned to Wolfe. ~ Rex Stout
Neck Pain quotes by Rex Stout
Transcendental generosity is generally misunderstood in the study of the Buddhist scriptures as meaning being kind to someone who is lower than you. Someone has this pain and suffering and you are in a superior position and can save them - which is a very simple-minded way of looking down on someone. But in the case of the bodhisattva, generosity is not so callous. It is something very strong and powerful; it is communication.

Communication must transcend irritation, otherwise it will be like trying to make a comfortable bed in a briar patch. The penetrating qualities of external color, energy, and light will come toward us, penetrating our attempts to communicate like a thorn pricking our skin. We will wish to subdue this intense irritation and our communication will be blocked.

Communication must be radiation and receiving and exchange. Whenever irritation is involved, then we are not able to see properly and fully and clearly the spacious quality of that which is coming toward us, that which is presenting itself as communication. The external world is immediately rejected by our irritation which says, "no, no, this irritates me, go away." Such an attitude is the complete opposite of transcendental generosity.

So the bodhisattva must experience the complete communication of generosity, transcending irritation and self-defensiveness. Otherwise, when thorns threaten to prick us, we feel that we are being attacked, that we must defe ~ Chogyam Trungpa
Neck Pain quotes by Chogyam Trungpa
But you know what? There's far more pain involved in rolling over, far more pain in hiding in the shadows, far more pain in not standing for principle, not standing for the good, not standing for integrity. ~ Ted Cruz
Neck Pain quotes by Ted Cruz
Some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word. ~ George R R Martin
Neck Pain quotes by George R R Martin
You have always been alone, always self-centered and fearful of opening yourself to other persons, for to do so is to risk rejection and pain. But it is a risk we are born to take, we humans. We cannot live alone, cannot find happiness or peace alone, cannot love alone. The person alone must always be fleeing, always searching. He flees from the loneliness without end. He searches, whether he will or not, for another who will fill his emptiness. ~ Julian May
Neck Pain quotes by Julian May
Why nothing in this world
Can bring a smile
On my face?
My life was lost on you
And now,
Without you.

You were my healer,
And now,
The creator of pain! ~ Jyoti Patel
