...no elves or CPAs or other mythological creatures appeared to do my paperwork in the interim ~ Mira Grant
Mythological Creatures quotes by Mira Grant
Actual artists are like mythological creatures,' she heard herself opine. 'You hear about them, but a sighting's pretty rare. ~ Garth Risk Hallberg
Mythological Creatures quotes by Garth Risk Hallberg
I huff. Sort of. "Well, would Your Logicalness care to take me to breakfast and tell me about his plans?"
… "Would your Nakedness care to get dressed first?" he asks. ~ Amanda Bouchet
Mythological Creatures quotes by Amanda Bouchet
I never thought my life would end like this. Being hunted by mythological creatures in my pajamas. Honestly, it never entered my mind. ~ Amanda Carlson
Mythological Creatures quotes by Amanda Carlson
She did not want to be Bilong's mother, or her grandmother. She had done with these roles, with being a good child, a good wife, a good mother. She had put seventy-odd years into it; she had worked hard at it; now she wanted to be that Ofelia who painted and carved and sang in an old cracked voice with strange creatures and their stranger music. The ~ Elizabeth Moon
Mythological Creatures quotes by Elizabeth Moon
I believe that where the love of God is perfected and the true spirit of government watchfully attended to, a tenderness toward all creatures will be experienced, and a care felt in us that we do not lessen that sweetness of life in the animal creation which the Great Creator intends for them under our government. ~ John Woolman
Mythological Creatures quotes by John Woolman
We're creatures of contact regardless of whether/ we kiss or we wound. Still, we must come together. ~ David Rakoff
Mythological Creatures quotes by David Rakoff
It was as natural as breathing to all human beings, and to all warm-blooded creatures, for that matter, to wish quick deaths for monsters. This was an instinct. ~ Kurt Vonnegut
Mythological Creatures quotes by Kurt Vonnegut
The boys and girls are one tonight.
They unbutton blouses. They unzip flies.
They take off shoes. They turn off the light.
The glimmering creatures are full of lies.
They are eating each other. They are overfed.
At night, alone, I marry the bed. ~ Anne Sexton
Mythological Creatures quotes by Anne Sexton
He causes huge bodies like sun to proclaim His Majesty through His Names the All-Gracious, Great, reciting: ' O Glorious One, O Great One, O Mighty One', while tiny animate creatures like flies and fish proclaim His Mercy, reciting: 'O Gracious One, O Compassionate One, O Generous One ~ Said Nursi
Mythological Creatures quotes by Said Nursi
God loves creatures who have become unlovely and (one would have thought) unlovable. ~ J.I. Packer
Mythological Creatures quotes by J.I. Packer
Making a fantastical world real is a bit of a challenge, for sure. When you're on set and you have a green screen you're working with where you'll pretend there's a giant lizard chasing you when there's nothing there. Being shown the images of what the creatures were going to look like and then having to react to them realistically without feeling like you're a crazy person. You kind of have to go for it. In order to sell it to the audience, you can't really hold back. ~ Josh Hutcherson
Mythological Creatures quotes by Josh Hutcherson
It seems to me of great importance to teach children respect for life. Towards this end, experiments on living animals in classrooms should be stopped. To encourage cruelty in the name of science can only destroy the finer emotions of affection and sympathy, and breed an unfeeling callousness in the young towards suffering in all living creatures. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Mythological Creatures quotes by Eleanor Roosevelt
Fearsome Beasts and Strange Creatures Wonders in Paper and Mist ~ Erin Morgenstern
Mythological Creatures quotes by Erin Morgenstern
I am not wise enough to say how much of all this squalor and wretchedness and hunger is the fault of the people themselves, how much of it belongs to circumstances and environment, how much is the result of past errors of government, how much is race, how much is religion. I only know that children should never be hungry, that there are ignorant human creatures to be taught how to live; and if it is a hard task, the sooner it is begun the better, both for teachers and pupils. It is comparatively easy to form opinions and devise remedies, when one knows the absolute truth of things; but it is so difficult to find the truth here, or at least there are so many and such different truths to weigh in the balance ... ~ Kate Douglas Wiggin
Mythological Creatures quotes by Kate Douglas Wiggin
William sees it all happen again. The pain is not in the event. The subjection to it and his powerless state each time is where his anguish lies. He is unable to influence the situation, despite his desire. He sees the nest outside his house. He sees the baby bird that fell. The mother bird cries frantically for her lost chick. William knows as he approaches the chick that if he touches it his scent will linger, and the mother will reject it. Circling around the fallen creature William hopes it will flee from him, back toward the tree from which it had fallen. His presence only intensifies the creature's fear. It speeds to his left, heading for the street. Again William tries to flank the bird, but it is too frightened to return to the nest. The chick's mother wails vainly. William walks into the street trying to herd the bird to safety. The stop light a block away has just turned green. The driver accelerates. William moves from the car's path and it runs over the bird. The momentum from its wake lifts the bird to the underside of the car, breaking its neck, but not killing it. William watches the bird roll helplessly. It is silent for a second, before it begins to whimper. Its contorted head dangles limply from its body. The noise is tragic. The bird's mother hears the chick's pain, but nothing can be done. She laments. A second speeder crushes the chick, leaving only a wet feathered spot in the street. As the cars continue to pass, only one bird is heard. A mother's grief ~ M.R. Gott
Mythological Creatures quotes by M.R. Gott
Struggling for my life, I gagged. The creature's strength unbelievable. There was nothing I could do. Its face was very close and it opened its mouth. Turning my head the opposite direction, I could feel the heat of breath on my ear. I struggled as hard as I could. It wasn't enough. Its teeth were bearing down on my neck: drool dripped soaking my collar. ~ Natalie Star
Mythological Creatures quotes by Natalie Star
The regenerating Spirit is compared to the wind. His first attempts on the soul may be so secret that the creature knows not whence they come, or whither they tend; but, before he hath done, the sound will be heard throughout the soul. ~ William Gurnall
Mythological Creatures quotes by William Gurnall
For animals that are overworked, underfed, and cruelly treated; for all wistful creatures in captivity that beat their wings against bars; for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to death ... and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words. ~ Albert Schweitzer
Mythological Creatures quotes by Albert Schweitzer
There is a haunting phantom called Regret, A shadowy creature robed somewhat like woe, But fairer in the face, whom all men know By her said mien, and eyes forever wet. No heart would seek her; but once having met All take her by the hand, and to and fro They wander through those paths of long ago
Those hallowed ways 'twere wiser to forget. ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Mythological Creatures quotes by Ella Wheeler Wilcox
And all will be happy, all the millions of creatures except the hundred thousand who rule over them. For only we, we who guard the mystery, shall be unhappy. There will be thousands of millions of happy babes, and a hundred thousand sufferers who have taken upon themselves the curse of the knowledge of good and evil. ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Mythological Creatures quotes by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Talk with M. Hermite. He never evokes a concrete image, yet you soon perceive that the more abstract entities are to him like living creatures. ~ Henri Poincare
Mythological Creatures quotes by Henri Poincare
These were strange, freakish, and dangerous creatures, the likes of which might well have brought Darwin himself to despair with their obvious lack of conformity to the laws of evolutionary development. As much as these beasts might differ from the animals humans were used to, and whether they had been reborn under the invisible and ruinous rays of sunlight, turned from inoffensive representatives of urban fauna into the spawn of hell, or whether they had always dwelled in the depths, only now to be disturbed by man – still, they were an evident part of life on earth. ~ Dmitry Glukhovsky
Mythological Creatures quotes by Dmitry Glukhovsky
Imagine all of L.A. filled with windup men wandering empty-headed and waiting for orders and directions and purpose. That's L.A. in a nutshell. A city of driven creatures, but no one is a hundred percent sure what they're driven toward. Wealth. Fame. Power. Love. Revenge. These are all the obvious end points for the citizens of a spectral city, but none of them quite encompass a final goal. That's more fragile. Something that slips away like smoke the moment it's in your hands. It's a moonshine cocktail of desperation and desire, the certainty that you can find perfection through sheer willpower and the cold terror that if you do reach the goal it will have twisted into something new. A new fevered need born of the search for this one. Searching for the next goal will breed another. And on and on. L.A. and Kill City full of Pinocchios with whirring gears for brains, all wanting to be real boys but sunk in the certainty that they'll never become anything because they're nothing. They came from nothing and are headed for a further and harder nothing. ~ Richard Kadrey
Mythological Creatures quotes by Richard Kadrey
Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures. ~ Dalai Lama XIV
Mythological Creatures quotes by Dalai Lama XIV
As participants in a mobile culture, our default is to move. God embraces our broken world, and I have no doubt that God can use our movement for good. But I am convinced that we lose something essential to our existence as creatures if we do not recognize our fundamental need for stability. Trees can be transplanted, often with magnificent results. But their default is to stay. ~ Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove
Mythological Creatures quotes by Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove
He brooded on how close destruction always was to all creatures, animals as well as humans, and he realized that there is nothing we can predict or know for certain in this world except death. ~ Hermann Hesse
Mythological Creatures quotes by Hermann Hesse
I was lost before I found her in my dreams, and she found me that day in the rain. I knew it seemed like I was always the one trying to save Lena, but the truth was she had saved me, and I wasn't ready for her to stop now. ~ Kami Garcia
Mythological Creatures quotes by Kami Garcia
Parents are weird and dangerous creatures. ~ J.D. Robb
Mythological Creatures quotes by J.D. Robb
It is not to be wondered that men have worshiped the ocean, for in his depths they have seen mirrored the image of Eternity of Infinity. Here they have seen the symbol of God's great plan of oneness with His creatures, for the sea is the union of all infinite particles, and it takes the whole to make the one. ~ Elbert Hubbard
Mythological Creatures quotes by Elbert Hubbard
His mane was like a crest, mounting, then falling low. His neck was long and slender, and arched to the small, savagely beautiful head. The head was that of the wildest of all wild creatures- a stallion born wild- and it was beautiful, savage, splendid. A stallion with a wonderful physical perfection that matched his savage, ruthless spirit. ~ Walter Farley
Mythological Creatures quotes by Walter Farley
Anyway, humans being the nitwits that they are, a purring approach to any of them, either male or female, is usually interpreted as proof that I love them, and they consequently let me do as I like, and on occasions, poor dumb creatures, they even stroke my head. ~ Natsume Sōseki
Mythological Creatures quotes by Natsume Sōseki
Our Animal Sanctuary initiative has many layers. We are aiming to create a place where abandoned and bullied creatures come together with bullied youth. We feel that bullies have leadership abilities, albeit these abilities are totally skewed and misdirected. ~ Ian Somerhalder
Mythological Creatures quotes by Ian Somerhalder
If you could imagine the color of anger, it had been splashed over every wall. Rage, something dense and seething, was hanging from every chandelier, resentment woven into thick carpets padding the room, hatred flickering underneath every lampshade. The floor was bathed in a creeping shadow, a particular darkness that had seeped up into the walls ... ~ Kami Garcia
Mythological Creatures quotes by Kami Garcia
She was no longer that happy creature who in earlier youth wandered with me on the banks of the lake and talked with ecstasy of our future prospects. The first of those sorrows which are sent to wean us from the earth had visited her, and its dimming influence quenched her dearest smiles. ~ Mary Shelley
Mythological Creatures quotes by Mary Shelley
One thing for sure - a sheep is not a creature of the air. ~ Graham Chapman
Mythological Creatures quotes by Graham Chapman
When we drop fear, we can draw nearer to people, we can draw nearer to the earth, we can draw nearer to all the heavenly creatures that surround us. ~ Bell Hooks
Mythological Creatures quotes by Bell Hooks
Instead of praying "There be peace on earth,"
vow that we be peaceful creatures on earth.
Instead of praying "There be love on earth,"
vow that we be loving people on earth.

Stop all lies and empty hopes when we pray,
we know how things in the world do well play:
"No love and peace could ever come to spread,
if there in our souls, love and peace lie dead! ~ Rodolfo Martin Vitangcol, The Pink Poetry
Mythological Creatures quotes by Rodolfo Martin Vitangcol, The Pink Poetry
Mr. Bayning is not a frog," Poppy protested. "You're right," Beatrix said. "That was very unfair to frogs, who are lovely creatures." As ~ Lisa Kleypas
Mythological Creatures quotes by Lisa Kleypas
Can't you see that the courage to risk, to dare, to toss that gold coin up in the air over and over again, win or lose, is what makes humans human? They are fragile, doomed creatures, blinder than worms yet braver than the gods. ~ Jennifer Donnelly
Mythological Creatures quotes by Jennifer Donnelly
Of course, Minneapolis, we think, 'Oh well, it's cold there, lethally cold.' But the reality is you adapt to weather ... Humans are consummately adaptable creatures. ~ Dan Buettner
Mythological Creatures quotes by Dan Buettner
It was almost twilight, long shadows of oaks and chestnuts crossing the unpaved road leading away from the village. This part of England had not yet been deforested to feed the fleets and factories that had sprung up in the major cities. The woodlands were still pristine and other-worldly, scored with small cartways half-buried by overhanging branches thick with leaves. In the gathering shade the trees were wreathed in vapor and mystery, like sentinels for a world of druids and warlocks and unicorns. A brown owl glided over the lane, mothlike in the darkening sky. ~ Lisa Kleypas
Mythological Creatures quotes by Lisa Kleypas
I actually like snakes! When I was young, I was a boy scout nature camp counselor, and one of our projects was collecting snakes and creating an environment for them, so I'm quite familiar with snakes and think they're fantastic creatures. ~ Harrison Ford
