I carry around a little journal with me, a little notebook and a pen and just write all the time. Not necessarily actually sitting down and writing lyrics, just free-form writing, whatever's going on in my mind. ~ Mandy Moore
Laurore Journal quotes by Mandy Moore
I've always studied business. Even when I was a ball player, I'd read business journals and the business sections of newspapers. ~ Magic Johnson
Laurore Journal quotes by Magic Johnson
Be a collector of good ideas, but don't trust your memory. The best collecting place for all of the ideas and information that comes your way is your journal. ~ Jim Rohn
Laurore Journal quotes by Jim Rohn
To gain more from your time in the Scripture, you should read and reread the passage. You must know what the passage says before you can understand what it means and how it applies to you and your ministry. You should: Read to determine, "What does this passage say to me?" Begin by reading the passage to determine what the Scripture is all about. Record what you see. It is extremely important that you write some notes and keep a record of your insights and questions. Mark unfamiliar words or phrases that you do not understand; and write your answers in your journal or study notes. ~ Bishop Noel Jones
Laurore Journal quotes by Bishop Noel Jones
I believe the term "blog" means more than an online journal. I believe a blog is a conversation. People go to blogs to read AND write, not just consume. ~ Michael Arrington
Laurore Journal quotes by Michael Arrington
My centaur, Annette thinks, as she looks out the window trying to ignore Dwayne, would find my journal interesting and moving. ~ Megan Giddings
Laurore Journal quotes by Megan Giddings
You may want to keep a commonplace book which is a notebook where you can copy parts of books you think are in code, or take notes on a series of events you may have observed that are suspicious, unfortunate, or very dull. Keep your commonplace book in a safe place, such as underneath your bed, or at a nearby dairy. ~ Lemony Snicket
Laurore Journal quotes by Lemony Snicket
Writing in a journal reminds you of your goals and of your learning in life. It offers a place where you can hold a deliberate, thoughtful conversation with yourself. ~ Robin S. Sharma
Laurore Journal quotes by Robin S. Sharma
The person who wins the Nobel Prize is not the person who read the most journal articles and took the most notes on them. It's the person who knew what to look for. And cultivating that capacity to seek what's significant, always willing to question whether you're on the right track - that's what education is going to be about, whether it's using computers and the Internet, or pencil and paper, or books. ~ Noam Chomsky
Laurore Journal quotes by Noam Chomsky
I would want kids to talk and write about how the book makes them feel, what it reminded them of, if it changed their thoughts about anything. I'd have them keep a journal and have them freewrite after they read each assignment. What did this make you think about? That's what I'd want to know. I think you could get some really original ideas that way, not the old regurgitated ones like man versus nature. Just shoot me if I ever assign anyone an essay about man versus nature. Questions like that are designed to pull you completely out of the story. Why would you want to pull kids out of the story? You want to push them further in, so they can feel everything the author tried so hard to create for them. ~ Lily King
Laurore Journal quotes by Lily King
The day my mother died I wrote in my journal, "A serious misfortune of my life has arrived." I suffered for more than one year after the passing away of my mother. But one night, in the highlands of Vietnam, I was sleeping in the hut in my hermitage. I dreamed of my mother. I saw myself sitting with her, and we were having a wonderful talk. She looked young and beautiful, her hair flowing down. It was so pleasant to sit there and talk to her as if she had never died. When I woke up it was about two in the morning, and I felt very strongly that I had never lost my mother. The impression that my mother was still with me was very clear. I understood then that the idea of having lost my mother was just an idea. It was obvious in that moment that my mother is always alive in me.

I opened the door and went outside. The entire hillside was bathed in moonlight. It was a hill covered with tea plants, and my hut was set behind the temple halfway up. Walking slowly in the moonlight through the rows of tea plants, I noticed my mother was still with me. She was the moonlight caressing me as she had done so often, very tender, very sweet... wonderful! Each time my feet touched the earth I knew my mother was there with me. I knew this body was not mine but a living continuation of my mother and my father and my grandparents and great-grandparents. Of all my ancestors. Those feet that I saw as "my" feet were actually "our" feet. Together my mother and I were leaving footprints in ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Laurore Journal quotes by Thich Nhat Hanh
Because Library School will take up two whole years of my life, I have decided to keep a journal of events/feelings/reactions to it as long as I can stick it out. Judging from today, that might not be too long, but I will start with a reaction to yesterday so it will not be forgotten. ~ Pearl Cleage
Laurore Journal quotes by Pearl Cleage
Oh, very well, do you want to know why I really think you should keep a journal?"
She nodded.
"Because someday you're going to grow into yourself, and you will be as beautiful as you already are smart. ~ Julia Quinn
Laurore Journal quotes by Julia Quinn
Pervy and redundant, don't you think?" I asked the big gay cop, who wouldn't know a va-jay-jay if it bounced up to him and sang the "Star-Spangled Banner." (You ever notice that hardly anything besides the "Star-Spangled Banner" is spangled? There's no, like, the Raisin-Spangled Scone, or the Flea-Spangled Beagle. I'm just saying.)
Being the Journal of Abby Normal ~ Christopher Moore
Laurore Journal quotes by Christopher Moore
Keep a grateful journal. You will be amazed about the heavenly blessings in your life. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Laurore Journal quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
I started writing and photographing for different publications and finally ended up being the correspondent in South Asia, for the Geneva-based Journal de Geneve, which at one time used to be one of the best international newspapers in Europe. ~ Francois Gautier
Laurore Journal quotes by Francois Gautier
One would think the more obtrusive setting would create the greatest impact, but instead it is the solitude that presses with more force. ~ Elizabeth Crook
Laurore Journal quotes by Elizabeth Crook
A recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association predicts that a child born in 2000 has a one-in-three chance of developing diabetes. (An African American child's chances are two in five.) ~ Michael Pollan
Laurore Journal quotes by Michael Pollan
I didn't have my own journals, but my mother kept a journal while I was in the hospital, and my father wrote newsletters to keep friends and family updated on my progress. ~ Brent Runyon
Laurore Journal quotes by Brent Runyon
Why shouldn't a mystical theology be possible? 'I want to touch God or become God,' I declared in my journal. All through that year I abandoned myself intermittently to these deliriums. ~ Simone De Beauvoir
Laurore Journal quotes by Simone De Beauvoir
In my time at the Cove, I'd spent many nights scribbling in my journal, attempting to write my way into a solution, into some kind of clarity and acceptance about what I'd lost and where I'd go from here. But maybe clarity was like love, shooting through you when you least expected it, when you'd finally stopped seeking it. ~ Sarah Ockler
Laurore Journal quotes by Sarah Ockler
If there is any political moral to be found in this world," Stencil once wrote in his journal, "it is that we carry on the business of this century with an intolerable double vision. Right and Left; the hothouse and the street. The Right can only live and work hermetically, in the hothouses of the past, while outside the Left prosecute their affairs in the streets by manipulated mob violence. And cannot live but in the dreamscape of the future.
"What of the real present, the men-of-no-politics, the once-respectable Golden Mean? Obsolete; in any case, lost sight of. In a West of such extremes we can expect, at the very least, a highly 'alienated' populace within not many more years. ~ Thomas Pynchon
Laurore Journal quotes by Thomas Pynchon
I record myself talking. I have a journal. And when I listen back, I remember why I wanted certain things. I listen to me at 16, saying 'I really wanna be on TV ... I want a movie, a huge movie ... ' and I'm just like, 'Yo, I'm humbled. I'm living a life I imagined.' ~ Shameik Moore
Laurore Journal quotes by Shameik Moore
While I was waiting to die, I still had the Journal of Nineteenth-Century Studies. ~ Michel Houellebecq
Laurore Journal quotes by Michel Houellebecq
Any experience, which is not written, will be lost in time. Rich literature is lost forever. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Laurore Journal quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
The [Oregon] Journal in its head and heart will stand for the people, be truly Democratic and free from political entanglements and machinations, believing in the principles that promise the greatest good to the greatest number-to ALL MEN, regardless of race, creed or previous condition of servitude ... It will be a fair newspaper, not a dull and selfish sheet ... ~ Samuel L. Jackson
Laurore Journal quotes by Samuel L. Jackson
It came as a surprise to find that a professional society and journal (Econometrica) were flourishing, and I entered this area of study with great enthusiasm. ~ Lawrence R. Klein
Laurore Journal quotes by Lawrence R. Klein
A literary journal is intended to connect writer with reader; the role of the editor is to mediate. ~ John Barton
Laurore Journal quotes by John Barton
I have a lyric journal that I write in a lot. When I'm going to play, I just sit down and have my books with me and my notes and tapes and whatever I need to refer to. I just play and try different things. It's a kind of discipline. ~ Amy Ray
Laurore Journal quotes by Amy Ray
Every defeat of the capitalist class is a defeat for fascism. Every time the workers obtain a reduction in their hours of work and a rise in salaries, every time they affirm workers' solidarity by defending a victimised fellow worker, every time they abolish degrading methods of production, every time they achieve a victory over their boss, they win a victory against fascism and pave the way to socialism.

Laurore Journal quotes by Marie Louise Berneri

Laurore Journal quotes by Francine Rivers
American Splendor is just an ongoing journal. It's an ongoing autobiography. I started it when I was in my early 30s, and I just keep going. ~ Harvey Pekar
Laurore Journal quotes by Harvey Pekar
I have decided to keep a full journal, in the hope that my life will perhaps seem more interesting when it is written down. ~ Sue Townsend
Laurore Journal quotes by Sue Townsend
Journaling has become one of the most gratifying and fulfilling practices of my life. Not only do I derive the daily benefits of consciously directing my thoughts and putting them in writing, but even more powerful are those I have gained from reviewing my journals. ~ Hal Elrod
Laurore Journal quotes by Hal Elrod
Journal writers record the tide of sickness, fever, and death with a matter-of-factness that is almost chilling to modern eyes. By the age of twenty everyone had witnessed dozens of deaths, very often of siblings, perhaps of one's mother in childbirth, and definitely of neighbors and friends to accidents and disease. ~ John F. Ross
Laurore Journal quotes by John F. Ross
Writing a journal article combines all the elements that deter motivation: The probability of success is low; the likelihood of criticism and rejection is high; and the outcome, even if successful, isn't always rewarding. ~ Paul J. Silvia
Laurore Journal quotes by Paul J. Silvia
Why must we draw these lines, these fine distinctions, these labels and barriers that set us apart? Ace and nat and joker, capitalist and communist, Catholic and Protestant, Arab and Jew, Indian and Latino, and on and on everywhere, and of course true humanity is to be found only on our side of the line and we feel free to oppress and rape and kill the "other," whoever he might be. (From the Journal of Xavier Desmond) ~ George R R Martin
Laurore Journal quotes by George R R Martin
the chairman of Random House, Alberto Vitale, told a Wall Street Journal reporter about the new online bookselling sensation from the Pacific Northwest. ~ Brad Stone
Laurore Journal quotes by Brad Stone
He arrested her hand and slammed it against the glass. "Don't touch me," he whispered hoarsely. "I won't forget. ~ Jacqueline Francis - The Journal
Laurore Journal quotes by Jacqueline Francis - The Journal
One could say that Hopkins practiced transubstantiation in every poem. By mysterious talent, he changed plain element into reality sublime. He encountered a jumble of weather, birds, trees, branches, waters, blooms, dewdrops, candle flames, prayers, then instressed them and, delighted, wrote in his journal, 'Chance left free toact falls into an order. ~ Margaret R. Ellsberg
Laurore Journal quotes by Margaret R. Ellsberg

Some days I could fly and feel very happy. I record those days in my journal for I know that I will feel very sad again. And I need proof that I will be very happy again. Thankfully, I feel very happy tonight. Goodnight. ~ Juansen Dizon
Laurore Journal quotes by Juansen Dizon
I really liked the idea of creating a journal myself. It's like the way I clear my throat. I write a page every day, maybe 500 words. It could be about something I'm specifically worried about in the new novel; it could be a question I want answered; it could be something that's going on in my personal life. I just use it as an exercise. ~ Elizabeth George
Laurore Journal quotes by Elizabeth George
I keep a journal, and every day I write down one great play that I had that day. I don't write down any negatives. ~ Heather O'Reilly
Laurore Journal quotes by Heather O'Reilly
No one in my family wrote. And there was no real introduction. I suppose I somehow blundered into it when I was about six or seven years old. I was asked what present I would like, and, without knowing why, I responded that I would like a journal. It was a beautiful journal - so beautiful that I didn't want to sully it. ~ Imre Kertesz
Laurore Journal quotes by Imre Kertesz
How Journal Writing Helps

Because of your social anxiety, you may be so afraid that any opinions you have are wrong that you remain neutral on most subjects. Or, you might feel like a chameleon who changes opinions depending on the situation. Not expressing your opinions can make you feel empty and unsure of what you really believe. Writing your thoughts and feelings in a journal can help you figure out your likes and dislikes, your opinions on tough issues, and what you stand for. Once you have your true beliefs down on paper, they will seem more concrete and you will be able to remember them during social situations.
Although you probably are aware of what causes you the most anxiety, you also may have worries that are more difficult to identify. People often use various mental tricks to bury problems that are painful or difficult. As you write in your journal, you will become more aware of hidden fears and worries. Once they are brought into the open, you can begin to cope with them more effectively.
Writing about events also makes it easier to be objective. While a belief, such as "Everyone thinks I'm stupid," may cross your mind unconsciously, writing it down makes you realize how false and exaggerated it is. Once you see how maladaptive some of your thoughts are, it is easier to change them.
In addition, a journal is valuable whenever you feel discouraged. Reviewing past entries will remind you how much you have improved over time. This insight ~ Heather Moehn
Laurore Journal quotes by Heather Moehn
Keeping this journal causes tension as much as it calms it. The writing busies my hands and occupies my mind, but there's something about the pen scratching against the thick textured paper that makes my words take on an uncomfortable weight. Online, words flow almost as quickly as thoughts without revision or purpose, the way they do when you're alone or with someone who's fallen in love with you. ~ Wayne Gladstone
Laurore Journal quotes by Wayne Gladstone
By most people the 'sense of reality' is understood to be the submission to events and indeed illusion is often salvation. ~ Lionel Trilling
