I may be biased, but I think the cover art is stunning. ~ Patricia Leavy
Cover Art quotes by Patricia Leavy
Sean at sixteen thought 'Rexecutioner's Dream' was the greatest thing he'd ever heard, something so strange and different it seemed like a message from another realm. It had cover art, but the art was glued onto the inner sleeve of a standard-issue black cassette; the spine was hand lettered. It was the product of someone's hard work, a vision brought into the world of real things. A dream disguised in a crude, plain package. ~ John Darnielle
Cover Art quotes by John Darnielle
My own style grew out of my work as a graphic designer. I try to express the essence of my stories and ideals very clearly, using simple shapes, often in bright colors against a white background. You might almost think of my illustrations, and especially the cover art, as little posters. ~ Eric Carle
Cover Art quotes by Eric Carle
My mother is an artist, and I have a strong visual sense. I almost always choose the cover art for my books. I've learned that the more I collaborate, like by having someone do a soundtrack to one of my books, the more I see my own work differently. ~ Jeff VanderMeer
Cover Art quotes by Jeff VanderMeer
Readers are always surprised to learn that authors have little or no input regarding the cover art for their books. ~ Jane Lindskold
Cover Art quotes by Jane Lindskold
I've been at this for a while, and to a very real extent, you look at cover art with the same sort of expectation you have for playing slot machines in Vegas. That is to say, you hope to break even and promise yourself not to flinch when all you get is the same sort of mix of fruit that you get in a cup of generic fruit cocktail. ~ James A. Moore
Cover Art quotes by James A. Moore
Ms. Ellie Bockert Augsburger, owner of Creative Digital Studios, did a most excellent job. I feel compelled to mention that she had great ideas for Storm Warning. When asked to switch, she did so with ease, for this and many other reasons, I highly recommend her. In addition to cover art, she does graphic designs for businesses. She did a silhouette of an eagle similar to the one on Call Sign: Wrecking Crew (Wings of Eagles) for our business logo. ~ Lynn Hallbrooks
Cover Art quotes by Lynn Hallbrooks
My friend Josh Glenn compiles terrific lists of genre novels from the mid-20th century. His latest is a list of the ten best adventure novels of 1966. Josh also includes the cover art of early editions of the books, which are always much better than the art on newer editions. I want to read every book in this list! ~ Mark Frauenfelder
Cover Art quotes by Mark Frauenfelder
I hate videos. I'm meticulous on everything from cover art, fonts, productions, mixing. But when it comes to videos, I just feel so defeated. ~ Questlove
Cover Art quotes by Questlove
Aspiring authors, get this through your head. Cover art serves one purpose, and one purpose only, to get potential customers interested long enough to pick up the book to read the back cover blurb. In the internet age that means the thumb nail image needs to be interesting enough to click on. That's what covers are for. ~ Larry Correia
Cover Art quotes by Larry Correia
Excerpt from Storm's Eye by Dean Gray

With a final drag and drop, Jordan Rayne sent his latest creation winging its way toward the publisher. He looked up, squinted at that little clock in the right hand corner of his monitor, and removed his glasses to rub the bridge of his nose. His cover art was finished and shipped, just in time for lunch. He sighed and stood, rolling his shoulders and bending side to side, his back cracking in protest as the muscles loosened after having been hunched over the screen for so long. Sam raised his head, tilting it enquiringly at him, and Jordan laughed.
"Yeah, I know what you want, some lunch and a nice long walk along the beach, hmm?" Jordan smiled fondly at the furry ball of energy he'd saved from certain death. With his mom's recent death it was just Sam and him in the house. Sometimes he wondered what kept him here, now that the last thread tethering him to the island was severed.

Sam limped over and nuzzled at his hand. When Jordan had first found him out on the main road, hurt and bleeding, he hadn't been sure the pooch would make it. Taylor, his best friend and the local vet, had done what she could. At the time, Jordan simply didn't have the deep pockets for the fancy surgery needed to mend Sam's leg perfectly, he could barely afford the drugs to keep his mom in treatment. So they'd patched him up as well as they could, Taylor extending herself further than he could ever repay, and hoped for the best. The d ~ Dean Gray
Cover Art quotes by Dean Gray
Wait a second, is a snooty book critic actually admitting to judging books by their covers? ~ Larry Correia
Cover Art quotes by Larry Correia
To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art. ~ Francois De La Rochefoucauld
Cover Art quotes by Francois De La Rochefoucauld
All things that are living are expression and therefore part of the inherent symbology of life. Art, therefore, that is encumbered with excessive symbolism is extraneous, and from my point of view, useless art. Anyone who understands life needs no handbook of poetry or philosophy to tell him what it is. ~ Marsden Hartley
Cover Art quotes by Marsden Hartley
The record of one's life must needs prove more interesting to him who writes it than to him who reads what has been written. ~ Elizabeth Kenny
Cover Art quotes by Elizabeth Kenny
Public relations, in this country, is the art of adapting big business to a democracy so that the people have confidence that they are being well served and at the same time the business has freedom to serve them well. ~ Arthur W. Page
Cover Art quotes by Arthur W. Page
The beautiful is hidden from the eyes of those who are not searching for the truth, for whom it is contra-indicated. But the profound lack of spirituality of those people who see art and condemn it, the fact that they are neither willing nor ready to consider the meaning and aim of their existence in any higher sense, is often masked by the vulgarly simplistic cry, 'I don't like it!', 'It's boring!' It is not a point that one can argue; but it like the utterance of a man born blind who is being told about a rainbow. He simply remains deaf to the pain undergone by the artist in order to share with others the truth he has reached. ~ Andrei Tarkovsky
Cover Art quotes by Andrei Tarkovsky
Art, of course, is a way of thinking, a way of mining reality. ~ John Gardner
Cover Art quotes by John Gardner
O, had I but followed the arts! ~ William Shakespeare
Cover Art quotes by William Shakespeare
One does not set out with the idea that I've just had a great idea and now I'm going to go and carry it out. Almost all art that's made like that doesn't go anywhere. ~ Anish Kapoor
Cover Art quotes by Anish Kapoor
Ingenuity in meeting and pursuing the pupil, that tact for the concrete situation, though they are the alpha and omega of the teacher's art, are things to which psychology cannot help us in the least. ~ William James
Cover Art quotes by William James
Courage
It is in the small things we see it.
The child's first step,
as awesome as an earthquake.
The first time you rode a bike,
wallowing up the sidewalk.
The first spanking when your heart
went on a journey all alone.
When they called you crybaby
or poor or fatty or crazy
and made you into an alien,
you drank their acid
and concealed it.

Later,
if you faced the death of bombs and bullets
you did not do it with a banner,
you did it with only a hat to
cover your heart.
You did not fondle the weakness inside you
though it was there.
Your courage was a small coal
that you kept swallowing.
If your buddy saved you
and died himself in so doing,
then his courage was not courage,
it was love; love as simple as shaving soap. ~ Anne Sexton
Cover Art quotes by Anne Sexton
Yes, I was on the cover of 'Vogue,' but girls on the cover of 'Vogue' are the most scared of rejection. Models are the most insecure of them all. Actually, actors and actresses are, and then musicians, and then models! ~ Jasmine Guinness
Cover Art quotes by Jasmine Guinness
Why wouldn't there be divine humor? That's what the religions sometimes forget. ~ Art Hochberg
Cover Art quotes by Art Hochberg
The man or woman you really love will never grow old to you. Through the wrinkles of time, through the bowed frame of years, you will always see the dear face and feel the warm heart union of your eternal love. ~ Alfred Armand Montapert
Cover Art quotes by Alfred Armand Montapert
It is only obvious that teaching is a very special art, sharing withonly two other arts-argriculture and medicin-an exceptionally important characteristic. ~ Mortimer J. Adler
Cover Art quotes by Mortimer J. Adler
People knew about Babi Yar before Yevtushenko 's poem, but they were silent. And when they read the poem, the silence was broken. Art destroys silence. ~ Dmitri Shostakovich
Cover Art quotes by Dmitri Shostakovich
A primary function of art and thought is to liberate the individual from the tyranny of his culture in the environmental sense and to permit him to stand beyond it in an autonomy of perception and judgment. ~ Beverly Sills
Cover Art quotes by Beverly Sills
Not untill all babies are born from glass jars will the combat cease between mother and son. But in a totalitarian future that has removed procreation from woman's hands, there will also be no affect and no art. Men will be machines, without pain but also without pleasure. Imagination has a price, which we are paying every day. There is no escape from the biologic chains that bind us. ~ Camille Paglia
Cover Art quotes by Camille Paglia
singing
(though love be a day)
for which girl art thou flowers bringing? ~ E.E. Cummings
Cover Art quotes by E.E. Cummings
Progress in art does not consist in reducing limitations, but in knowing them better. ~ Georges Braque
Cover Art quotes by Georges Braque
Chaplin and Keaton are still the best. They know that there is nothing more serious than laughter, an art demanding infinite work, and that as long as the world revolves, making others laugh is the most splendid of activities. ~ Eduardo Galeano
Cover Art quotes by Eduardo Galeano
I told my mom, 'I'm not buying another magazine until I can get past this thought of looking like the girl on the cover'. She said, Miley, you are the girl on the cover,' and I was, like, 'I know, but I don't feel like that girl every day.' You can't always feel perfect. ~ Miley Cyrus
Cover Art quotes by Miley Cyrus
A lot of people want to keep country music in the minority of people. But it belongs to the world. It's art. ~ Ray Price
Cover Art quotes by Ray Price
Bear in mind that the children of life are the children of joy; that the lower animals are only unhappy when made so by man; that man alone of all the creatures, has "found out many inventions", the chief of which appears to be the art of making himself miserable, and of seeing all Nature stained with that dark and hateful colour. ~ William Henry Hudson
Cover Art quotes by William Henry Hudson
The production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet. ~ Aristotle.
Cover Art quotes by Aristotle.
At last everything was satisfactorily arranged, and I could not help admiring the setting: these mingled touches betrayed on a small scale the inspiration of a poet, the research of a scientist, the good taste of an artist, the gourmet's fondness for good food, and the love of flowers, which concealed in their delicate shadows a hint of the love of women ~ August Strindberg
Cover Art quotes by August Strindberg
Art is the human process that produces by the way (it is not its only or ultimate object) Secondary Belief. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Cover Art quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
From my point of view, any outstanding work of art is a fantasy insofar as it reflects the unique world of a unique individual. Art is not just simple arithmetic, it's a delicate calculus. Keep in mind the passion of the scientist and the precision of the artist. ~ Vladimir Nabokov
Cover Art quotes by Vladimir Nabokov
The Bible says, "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works."1 Our English word poem comes from the Greek word translated "workmanship." You are God's handcrafted work of art. You are not an assembly-line product, mass produced without thought. You are a custom-designed, one-of-a-kind, original masterpiece. ~ Rick Warren
Cover Art quotes by Rick Warren
Something about music urges us to engage with its larger context, beyond the piece of plastic it came on-it seems to be part of our genetic makeup that we can be so deeply moved by this art form. Music resonates in so many parts of the brain that we can't conceive of it being an isolated thing. ~ David Byrne
Cover Art quotes by David Byrne
The problem of knowledge is that there are many more books on birds written by ornithologists than books on birds written by birds and books on ornithologists written by birds ~ Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Cover Art quotes by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
His weekly golf game no longer keeps his love handles in check, he's recently resorted to a slight comb-over to cover that growing bald spot, he squints to avoid wearing the bifocals he hides in his desk drawer, and he spends his days in an office filled with decades-old sports trophies. ~ Kelley Armstrong
Cover Art quotes by Kelley Armstrong
Without atmosphere a painting is nothing. ~ Rembrandt
Cover Art quotes by Rembrandt
I like The Erised for the harmony of their addictive beats mix, and I like Allie X for her distinct style and incredible lyrics - they are pure art. ~ Connor Franta
Cover Art quotes by Connor Franta
Believe it or not, there were very few books on art, years ago. ~ James Rosenquist
Cover Art quotes by James Rosenquist
The Old and New Testaments are the Great Code of Art. ~ William Blake
Cover Art quotes by William Blake
The determined fixing of our will upon God, and pressing toward him steadily and without deflection; this is the very center and the art of prayer. ~ Evelyn Underhill
Cover Art quotes by Evelyn Underhill
What really happens is that the story-maker proves a successful 'sub-creator'. He makes a Secondary World which your mind can enter. Inside it, what he relates is 'true': it accords with the laws of that world. You therefore believe it, while you are, as it were, inside. The moment disbelief arises, the spell is broken; the magic, or rather art, has failed. You are then out in the Primary World again, looking at the little abortive Secondary World from outside. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Cover Art quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
I love Australia! I got a boot thrown at me there. ~ Art Alexakis
Cover Art quotes by Art Alexakis
Philosophy is true mother of the arts [of science]. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero
Cover Art quotes by Marcus Tullius Cicero
It's impossible to get worse at something you do every day. ~ Brad Guigar
Cover Art quotes by Brad Guigar
No art that is not in the end understood by the People can live or ever did live a single generation. ~ Frank Norris
Cover Art quotes by Frank Norris
The only art form that Americans have created that's recognized around the world is jazz music born in a community that had the peculiar experience of being unfree in a free land. ~ Ken Burns
Cover Art quotes by Ken Burns
It's hard to get hot over a painting; there's no equivalent for teenage obsessiveness. Art obsession is ideology. Ideology can be made sexy, but it's easier in music. ~ Kim Gordon
Cover Art quotes by Kim Gordon
It is, of course, much easier for a literary character to take a risk for love. The realities of social strata and responsibility mean nothing but a plot point in today's modern literature, but outside of these stories we are not pushing for change. The ideals we embody in our art rarely play themselves out in our lives. What would happen if we took the example of our fictional heroes; what if each of us was a Don Juan? ~ Evelyn Pryce
Cover Art quotes by Evelyn Pryce
G took her hand in his and traced his finger over the delicate skin of her arm. What she didn't realize was that he was scrawling the words of a poem he had recently written. It was inspired by his lady and he had spent many long hours trying to find the words that adequately conveyed the feelings of his heart.
There were many false starts, because at first he tried to capture the moment a horse fell in love with a ferret.
Shall I compare thee to a barrel to apples?
Thou art more hairy, but sweeter inside.
Rough winds couldn't keep me from taking you to chapel,
When finally a horse would take a bride...

And then he tried to wax poetic about the ferret alone ...

Shall I compare thee to a really large rat?
Thou art more longer, with less disease.
One would never mistake you for a listless cat ...
Nor a filthy dog, because my dog has fleas.

He could never confess his passion for poetry with those poetry examples. ~ Cynthia Hand
Cover Art quotes by Cynthia Hand
I will never tell another person, "I don't understand you ... " and why? Because if I say that, it means that I am disabled in a way. The inability to connect to another's perspective is, I believe, a disability. ~ C. JoyBell C.
