We have All our own Way and Thoughts about Life, please wake up ~ Jan Jansen
Thoughts About Life quotes by Jan Jansen
Because if you're tangled up in someone else, if your futures are tied that way, if that's real and if you know when it happens - then it means you know who you belong to, and you know whose fates are tied to yours, whether you like it or planned it or not, whether they still exist in the same world with you or they don't, and I think that's where everything begins and ends. I think that's everything. ~ Kelly Loy Gilbert
Thoughts About Life quotes by Kelly Loy Gilbert
We trouble our life by thoughts about death, and our death by thoughts about life. ~ Michel De Montaigne
Thoughts About Life quotes by Michel De Montaigne
Positive thoughts about life were connected to love and success. If A equaled C, and B equaled C, then A and B had to be the same. Food was life. ~ Valerie Frankel
Thoughts About Life quotes by Valerie Frankel
Buried how long?"
The answer was always the same: "Almost eighteen years."
You had abandoned all hope of being dug out?"
Long ago."
You know that you are recalled to life?"
They tell me so."
I hope that you care to live?"
I can't say."
Shall I show her to you? Will you come and see her?"
The answers to this question were various and contradictory. Sometimes the broken reply was, "Wait! It would kill me if I saw her too soon." Sometimes it was given in a tender rain of tears, and then it was, "Take me to her." Sometimes it was staring and bewildered, and then it was, "I don't know her. I don't understand."
After such imaginary discourse, the passenger in his fancy would dig, and dig, dig – to dig this wretched creature out. Got out at last, with earth hanging about his face and hair, he would suddenly fall away to dust. The passenger would then start to himself, and lower the window, to get the reality of mist and rain on his cheek.
Yet even when his eyes were opened on the mist and rain, on the moving patch of light from the lamps, and the hedge of the roadside retreating by jerks, the night shadows outside the coach would fall into the train of night shadows within. Out of the midst in them, a ghostly face would rise, and he would accost it again.
Buried how long?"
Almost eighteen years."
I hope you care to live?"
I can't say."
Dig – dig – dig – until an impatient movement from one of the two pas ~ Charles Dickens
Thoughts About Life quotes by Charles Dickens
For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way. Something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. - FR. ALFRED D'SOUZA ~ Arianna Huffington
Thoughts About Life quotes by Arianna Huffington
Readers don't want to read about somebody else having powerful emotions ... Readers want to become somebody else for a few hours, to live an exciting life, to find true love, to face down unimaginable terrors, to solve impossible puzzles, to feel a lightning jolt of adrenaline. ~ Randy Ingermanson
Thoughts About Life quotes by Randy Ingermanson
I have no illusions about myself, about my life, about leaving a legacy, or making a mark in people's lives. We are so insignificant. We are only here for a blink. ~ Miriam Defensor Santiago
Thoughts About Life quotes by Miriam Defensor Santiago
The highway looked different to him now, as they drove on. In theory it was the same stretch of tarmac, bounded by the same traffic paraphernalia and flimsy metal fences, but it had been transformed by their own intent. It was no longer a straight line to an airport, it was a mysterious hinterland of shadowy detours and hidey-holes. Proof, once again, that reality was not objective, but always waiting to be reshaped and redefined by one's attitude. Of course, everybody on earth had the power to reshape reality. It was one of the things Peter and Beatrice talked about a lot. The challenge of getting people to grasp that life was only as grim and confining as you perceived it to be. The challenge of getting people to see that the immutable facts of existence were not so immutable after all. The challenge of finding a simpler word for immutable than immutable. ~ Michel Faber
Thoughts About Life quotes by Michel Faber
The animals feel that this urgency is mutual. Their own suffering has made them aware of human suffering. More frequent contact with us has sensitized them to what troubles us. They feel our anxiety and our confusion and, most of all, our loneliness. The pain of being disconnected from the Earth, from each other, from our fellow creatures, and from the Source of all life is the worst pain they can imagine, and they are concerned about us. They understand even better than we do that the suffering we inflict on them is an expression of our own suffering, and that their physical situation cannot get better unless the human spiritual condition gets better. They want to help. ~ Linda Bender
Thoughts About Life quotes by Linda Bender
There are things you can describe in life and things you just can't. There are dangers and adventures, miseries and fear that you can tell about… well, then there's hope and joy and love – and those are beyond the power of words to describe. ~ Andrew Klavan
Thoughts About Life quotes by Andrew Klavan
College graduates and women with higher earnings are now more likely to marry than women with less education and lower wages, although they generally marry at an older age. The legal profession is one big exception to this generalization. Female attorneys are less likely to ever marry, to have children, or to remarry after divorce than women in other professions. But an even higher proportion of male attorneys are childless, suggesting there might be something about this career that is unfriendly to everyone's family life, not just women's. ~ Stephanie Coontz
Thoughts About Life quotes by Stephanie Coontz
Hollow laugh. "Sometimes I feel like I've got nothing but regrets. Doesn't just about everyone?" "I expect so. You think I don't wish I hadn't worked that second shift? But it was overtime and we always had more month left at the end of the paycheck. I'd done it a hundred times. I never really thought about what it could cost. How about you?" He sighed. "Well, of course I regret speeding, even though I've made peace with the changes it brought my life. But it kills me to think I lost Iris before I ever knew how much ~ Robyn Carr
Thoughts About Life quotes by Robyn Carr
Insecurity is being scared of your authentic self. It is the belief that your true, authentic self is not as magnificent as it actually is. Let go of that insecurity and do something totally gutsy and feel the relief in that. ~ Amy Leigh Mercree
Thoughts About Life quotes by Amy Leigh Mercree
If you care about something you have to protect it – If you're lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you have to find the courage to live it. ~ John Irving
Thoughts About Life quotes by John Irving
Eleanor pushed Park's hands forward. 'Why do you want to talk about this?'
He pushed back. 'Because. It's your life. Because I'm interested. It's like you've got all these weird barriers set up, like you only want me to have access to this tiny part of you ... '
'Yes,' she said, crossing her arms. 'Barriers. Caution tape. I'm doing you a favor. ~ Rainbow Rowell
Thoughts About Life quotes by Rainbow Rowell
It wasn't that I stopped caring about life, but that I've stopped being able to care. ~ Ruby Elliot
Thoughts About Life quotes by Ruby Elliot
Couldn't I try...Naturally, it wouldn't be a question of a tune...But couldn't I in another medium?...It would have to be a book: I don't know how to do anything else. But not a history book: history talks about what has existed - an existent can never justify the existence of another existent. My mistake was to try to resuscitate Monsieur de Rollebon. Another kind of book. I don't quite know which kind - but you would have to guess, behind the printed words, behind the pages, something which didn't exist, which was above existence. The sort of story, for example, which could never happen, an adventure. It would have to be beautiful and hard as steel and make people ashamed of their existence.

I am going, I feel irresolute. I dare not make a decision. If I were sure that I had talent...but I have never, never written anything of that sort; historical articles, yes - if you could call them that. A book. A novel. And there would be people who would read this novel and who would say: 'It was Antoine Roquentin who wrote it, he was a red-headed fellow who hung about in cafés', and they would think that about my life as I think about the life of the Negress: as about something precious and almost legendary. A book. Naturally, at first it would only be a tedious, tiring job, it wouldn't prevent me from existing or from feeling that I exist. But a time would have to come when the book would be written, would be behind me, and I think that a little of its light would fall o ~ Jean-Paul Sartre
Thoughts About Life quotes by Jean-Paul Sartre
Lewis is a rare example of someone who liked to think about life's great questions because they were forced on him by his own experience. ~ Alister E. McGrath
Thoughts About Life quotes by Alister E. McGrath
In the contemporary world where things fall apart, and the centre cannot hold, you have to imagine a community where there is no centre. Hank, at the end of this year I started thinking that a lot of life is about doing things that don't suck with people who don't suck. ~ John Green
Thoughts About Life quotes by John Green
Replace Negative Character Labels

Negative character labels are an even more serious problem than fixed mindsets. Examples of negative character labels include "I'm selfish," "I'm needy," "I'm unlovable," "I'm weak," "I'm defective," "I'm incompetent," and "I'm worthless." Such an uplifting list! Those negative beliefs sound quite dramatic when written down on the page, and sometimes people don't realize that they hold those beliefs about themselves. If your immediate reaction is to say, "Oh, I don't think any of those things about myself" or "Only someone who was super depressed would think those things," then take an extra second to make sure you're not even partially buying into these types of thoughts about yourself. It might be that you believe a negative character label only 20% of the time, but even that can still be an issue.
There are two types of negative character labels. Both can be changed. One type is very stable. For example, you believe you are incompetent, and you have never believed anything else, not even when you are in a positive mood. The other type is the type that goes up and down with your mood, anxiety, and stress. When your mood is low, you believe the negative character label much more strongly than when your mood is positive. If your negative character label changes due to transient things like your mood, anxiety, or stress, this can help you start to see that the belief is a product of these things rather than true. ~ Alice Boyes
Thoughts About Life quotes by Alice Boyes
Yet they sense that something is wrong. They can't quite put their finger on the problem. As time passes, they grow more and more dependent on each other; they are getting older; any opportunities to make a new life are vanishing fast. They try to keep busy doing reading or embroidery, watching television, seeing friends, but there is always the conversation over supper or after supper. He is easily irritated, she is more silent than usual. They can see that they are growing further and further apart, but cannot understand why. They reach the conclusion that this is what marriage is like, but won't talk to their friends about it; they are the image of the happy couple who support each other and share the same interests. She takes a lover, so does he, but it's never anything serious, of course. What is important, necessary, essential, is to act as if nothing is happening, because it's too late to change. ~ Paulo Coelho
Thoughts About Life quotes by Paulo Coelho
Almost every product promises to change your life: it will make you more beautiful, cleaner, more sexually alluring, and more successful. Born again, as it were. The messages contain promises about the future, unfailingly optimistic, exaggerating, miracle-promising - the same ideology that invites corporate executives to exaggerate profits and conceal losses, but always with a sunny face. The virtual reality of the advertiser and the "good news" of the evangelist complement each other, a match made in heaven. ~ Sheldon S. Wolin
Thoughts About Life quotes by Sheldon S. Wolin
If you genuinely care about someone, you won't let them ruin themselves. It's as simple as that.
Don't use your 'supportive friend' excuse to justify your ignorance.
If someone in your life is living a self-destructive lifestyle, don't encourage them. Don't stand on the sidelines and watch. Do something.
Tell them they're worth more than that. That they're bigger than what they're facing. Tell them there are better ways to heal. Better ways to grow.
Tell them they can be friends with better people.Tell them there's no escape from reality but it only gets better if you face it. Tell them they're killing themselves slowly by intaking drugs.
Tell them you love them and don't want them to get hurt. Tell them that you care.

Do. Everything. You. Can.
Because even if they may not listen, at least you'll know you tried. ~ Ambu
Thoughts About Life quotes by Ambu
Clearly, it is time we learned to meet our emotional needs without embracing the preposterous. We must find ways to invoke the power of ritual and to mark those transitions in every human life that demand profundity - birth, marriage, death - without lying to ourselves about the nature of reality. Only then will the practice of raising our children to believe that they are Christian, Muslim, or Jewish be widely recognized as the ludicrous obscenity that it is. And only then will we stand a chance of healing the deepest and most dangerous fractures in our world. ~ Sam Harris
Thoughts About Life quotes by Sam Harris
You cannot make a demand on your life that exceeds your belief about it. Your belief is creating a personal law. It's not the truth, but a lie believed will act like a law until it's neutralized. ~ Derek Rydall
Thoughts About Life quotes by Derek Rydall
Honestly, so much of my book is about the best things in my life have happened since I'm 40. ~ Carol Leifer
Thoughts About Life quotes by Carol Leifer
'The Social Network' was probably one of the two or three things I've done in my life that I'm most proud of. I'm not going to engage in what about it was disappointing. There's nothing about it I was disappointed in. ~ Scott Rudin
Thoughts About Life quotes by Scott Rudin
I'd had a few of these quiet, crystallizing moments in the past few weeks. Moments where I simultaneously registered how much I'd grown up and how little I really knew about life and relationships. Some of these moments happened when I was watching Bennett and Chloe, and the quiet way they picked on and adored each other in equal measure. Another moment was here, playing a game by myself, feeling more content than I had in a very long time. ~ Christina Lauren
Thoughts About Life quotes by Christina Lauren
He nipped her skin, and her entire body jerked.
"Oh!" she gasped.
"Got yourself a vampire fetish?" he asked with a chuckle.
"What? No, of course not. Vampires aren't real."
"But I'm all about bringing your fantasies to life, babe. If you want to be banged by a sparkling dick, I'll go get the glitter. ~ Olivia Cunning
Thoughts About Life quotes by Olivia Cunning
On a spectrum of literary productions, memoir is just another form. If the person doing the reviewing or critiquing was ill-educated about literary forms, they could write something dunderheaded about the author or their life (I've seen these and barfed at them), but anyone who is well-practiced and educated in literature - why would they leave that at the door when entering memoir? ~ Lidia Yuknavitch
Thoughts About Life quotes by Lidia Yuknavitch
After my kids were born I found myself incorporating my photography into different art endeavors and from there it just blossomed. I have always had to have an outlet for my creativity and when my life became more about raising my family than the bright lights of show business exploring my photo art was a great outlet for me. ~ Angela Cartwright
Thoughts About Life quotes by Angela Cartwright
Be the greatest of who you were meant to be. Life goes on ferociously-with or without you. It is your choice. Truly and magnificently your choice. ~ Carew Papritz
Thoughts About Life quotes by Carew Papritz
On the late afternoon streets, everyone hurries along, going about their own business.
Who is the person walking in front of you on the rain-drenched sidewalk?
He is covered with an umbrella, and all you can see is a dark coat and the shoes striking the puddles.
And yet this person is the hero of his own life story.
He is the love of someone's life.
And what he can do may change the world.
Imagine being him for a moment.
And then continue on your own way. ~ Vera Nazarian
Thoughts About Life quotes by Vera Nazarian
He said that some people can live from birth to death and have no more thoughts in their heads about the reasons for living than a beetle. But that we were different, he and I. We needed more than a clod of dirt to make our rising up and lying down worth something. ~ Kathleen Kent
Thoughts About Life quotes by Kathleen Kent
The Macintosh was sort of like this wonderful romance in your life that you once had - and that produced about 10 million children. In a way it will never be over in your life. You'll still smell that romance every morning when you get up. And when you open the window, the cool air will hit your face, and you'll smell that romance in the air. And you'll see your children around, and you feel good about it. And nothing will ever make you feel bad about it. ~ Steve Jobs
Thoughts About Life quotes by Steve Jobs
Last day I saw him human, he was sad about the world. ~ Aimee Bender
Thoughts About Life quotes by Aimee Bender
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow-
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out-
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit ~ John Greenleaf Whittier
Thoughts About Life quotes by John Greenleaf Whittier
In our relationship, we don't have that situation. I don't require what he needs, and he doesn't require what I need. I know what I do; I have an amazing life that nobody knows about. ~ John Oates
Thoughts About Life quotes by John Oates
All these people talk about [Vivian Maier's] hoarding, the pack-rat way she went through life. Watching, I couldn't help but feel their reactions were at least partly about money and social status; about who has the right to ownership and what happens when people exceed the number of possessions that their circumstance and standing would ordinarily allow. I don't know about you but if I was asked to put everything I own in a small room in someone else's house, I might well look like a hoarder. Although neither extreme poverty nor wealth makes one immune to craving an excess of possessions, it's worth asking of any behaviour presented as weird or freakish whether the boundary being transgressed is class, not sanity at all. ~ Olivia Laing
Thoughts About Life quotes by Olivia Laing
Think about what you are thinking about. Be aware of your own thoughts! ~ Toni Sorenson
Thoughts About Life quotes by Toni Sorenson
Although she was ashamed to admit it now, the darkness in him had been the largest part of his allure. It was such an anomaly, a contrast to what she'd known from life. It had made him dangerous. Exciting. Sexy. But that was a fantasy. This was real.
He suffered. And there was nothing sexy or thrilling about that. (Zsadists & Bella) ~ J.R. Ward
Thoughts About Life quotes by J.R. Ward
The first thing to understand about nutritionism is that it is not the same thing as nutrition. As the "-ism" suggests, it is not a scientific subject but an ideology. Ideologies are ways of organizing large swaths of life and experience under a set of shared but unexamined assumptions. This quality makes an ideology particularly hard to see, at least while it's still exerting its hold on your culture. A reigning ideology is a little like the weather
all pervasive and so virtually impossible to escape. Still, we can try. ~ Michael Pollan
Thoughts About Life quotes by Michael Pollan
17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18 "Are you so dull?" he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn't go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.) 20 He went on: "What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person's heart, that evil thoughts come - sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person. ~ Anonymous
Thoughts About Life quotes by Anonymous
[Ulysses] appears to have been written by a perverted lunatic who has made a speciality of the literature of the latrine… I have no stomach for Ulysses… James Joyce is a writer of talent, but in Ulysses he has ruled out all the elementary decencies of life and dwells appreciatively on things that sniggering louts of schoolboys guffaw about. In addition to this stupid glorification of mere filth, the book suffers from being written in the manner of a demented George Meredith. There are whole chapters of it without any punctuation or other guide to what the writer is really getting at. Two-thirds of it is incoherent, and the passages that are plainly written are devoid of wit, displaying only a coarse salacrity intended for humour. ~ Aramis
Thoughts About Life quotes by Aramis
For one moment, their eyes locked. His were blue, but that was far too mundane to describe them. Almost a pure dark blue, a true navy. She'd seen them for a second, but it didn't matter with her enhanced vision. She would dream about those eyes for the rest of her life. ~ Christine Feehan
Thoughts About Life quotes by Christine Feehan
From our solitude
we shall create,
forge songs ,
pour in the reflection
of the stars and
refresh the mind
about the silk-ridden roads
that wait for them
who have forgotten
to feel. ~ Tara Estacaan
Thoughts About Life quotes by Tara Estacaan
We do care about planets like the Earth because by now we understood that life as a chemical system really needs a smaller planet with water and with rocks and with a lot of complex chemistry to originate, to emerge, to survive. ~ Dimitar Sasselov
Thoughts About Life quotes by Dimitar Sasselov
What if each time you experienced an emotion, you acknowledged it, accepted it, and became curious about its message for you (instead of trying to make it go away or make it last longer)? Imagine how this could change your life. Imagine how heard, loved, and honoured you would feel if you really listened to yourself. ~ Vironika Tugaleva
Thoughts About Life quotes by Vironika Tugaleva
I turned fifty and decided to take a break. After twenty-five years of working, it seemed like a good idea. Honestly, I was feeling depleted. I still cared about my career and realized, amid a worsening economic climate, that I was lucky to have one. But that appreciation felt more lodged in my head than my heart. One day, United Airlines sent me a card, along with some new luggage tags, offering congratulations on having flown 2 million miles. Quick arithmetic translated all those zeroes into the equivalent of flying from one side of the country to the other every single day - Sundays, holidays, birthdays, sick or well - for more than two years. Maybe the card from United should have offered condolences. It all added up to an abiding fatigue. And a question: Did I want to fly 2 million more miles over the next twenty-five years of my life? Was I having a low-grade midlife crisis? I had no red sports car, reckless affair, ~ Marc Freedman
