The activities of automobile manufacturers, commercial real estate developers, and the federal government have been far more important in determining patterns of transportation than consumer choice. ~ Dolores Hayden
Transportation quotes by Dolores Hayden
If you get asteroids about a kilometer in size, those are large enough and carry enough energy into our system to disrupt transportation, communication, the food chains, and that can be a really bad day on Earth. ~ Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Transportation quotes by Neil DeGrasse Tyson
When dealing with complex transportation issues, the best thing to do is pull up with a cold beer and let somebody else figure it out. ~ Anthony Bourdain
Transportation quotes by Anthony Bourdain
What are they teaching these thugs? -Why are there so many of them? -What is the Institute for Higher Aeronautics? -How many of the are there? There are only six of us! Why? -Why is DC public transportation so weird? -Why don't we mug those Eraser goons for money more often? -Fang's Blog ~ James Patterson
Transportation quotes by James Patterson
Every day we hear about a new invention here and there and they are reducing considerably their consumption of oil. But the day they use hydrogen for transportation, this is the day that oil disappears. ~ Ahmed Zaki Yamani
Transportation quotes by Ahmed Zaki Yamani
They were poor thin little undernourished creatures with only a few blue teeth among them, though young: they had been taken up for combining with others to ask for higher wages and sentenced to transportation; but as they were somewhat less criminal than those who had actually made the demand they were allowed to join the Navy instead. ~ Patrick O'Brian
Transportation quotes by Patrick O'Brian
Only now did I recognize the reciprocal relationship which exits between manufacturing power and the national system of transportation, and that the one can never develop to its fullest without the other. ~ Friedrich List
Transportation quotes by Friedrich List
Most people can swim a narrow river. Water is an alien element, but with labor we can force ourselves through it. A good swimmer can cross a wide river, a lake, even the English Channel; no one, as far as we know, has ever swum the Atlantic Ocean, or is likely to do so. Even a champion swimmer, if he had business which required to spend alternate weeks in Paris and London, would not make the trip regularly by swimming the English Channel. Although we can force ourselves through water by skill and main strength, for all practical purposes our ability to traverse water is only as good as our ships or our airplanes. And so with the activities of our brains. Thinking is probably as foreign to human nature as is water; it is an unnatural element into which we throw ourselves with hesitation, and in which we flounder once we are there. We have learned, during the millenniums, to do rather well with thinking, but only if we buoy ourselves up with words. Some thinking of a simple sort we can do without words, but difficult and sustained thinking, presumably, is completely impossible without their aid, as traversing the Atlantic Ocean is presumably impossible without instruments or submarine transportation. ~ Charlton Grant Laird
Transportation quotes by Charlton Grant Laird
We also wanted to change the story - change the approach to the 21st century on energy, on education, on transportation, on infrastructure, generally, and it laid the groundwork for that. And one of the reasons I'm doing this trip is not only to say what we did worked, but to say we should do more of this. ~ Joe Biden
Transportation quotes by Joe Biden
It is not to the moderation and justice of others we are to trust for fair and equal access to market with out productions, or for our due share in the transportation of them; but to our own means of independence, and the firm will to use them. ~ Thomas Jefferson
Transportation quotes by Thomas Jefferson
Natural gas is the best transportation fuel. It's better than gasoline or diesel. It's cleaner, it's cheaper, and it's domestic. Natural gas is 97 percent domestic fuel, North America. ~ T. Boone Pickens
Transportation quotes by T. Boone Pickens
Perhaps this is because I'm from the generation that grew up watching 'The Jetsons' on TV, but I really thought we would be much more advanced in the areas of transportation and medicine. ~ Pat Cadigan
Transportation quotes by Pat Cadigan
Along with planes, running water, electricity, and motorized transportation, the internet is now a fundamental fact of modern life. ~ Danah Boyd
Transportation quotes by Danah Boyd
There is a deeper truth expressed in the unity of the United States. Implicate in the union of our country is the union of all people. All people are essentially one. The world is interconnected not only on the material level of economics, trade, communication, and transportation, but innerconnected through human consciousness, through the human heart, through the heart of the world, through the simply expressed impulse and yearning to be and to breathe free. ~ Dennis Kucinich
Transportation quotes by Dennis Kucinich
Those concerns of a national character-such as air and water pollution that do not respect state boundaries, or the national transportation system, or efforts to safeguard your civil liberties-must, of course, be handled on the national level. ~ Ronald Reagan
Transportation quotes by Ronald Reagan
Uber, which raised $1.2 billion this month at a valuation of $40 billion, said in August it had sought a legal opinion and that its Seoul service obeys the law. Opposition to its operations is down to outdated regulations that precede smartphone and wireless technology, Allen Penn, the company's head of Asia, told reporters at the time. Paid transportation with unregistered vehicles is "clearly illegal activity," South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said later that month. The maximum penalty for Uber's alleged legal violation is a two-year prison sentence or a fine of nearly $20,000, Yonhap News reported Wednesday. ~ Anonymous
Transportation quotes by Anonymous
The speed of transportation largely determined the speed of information. ~ T. J. Stiles
Transportation quotes by T. J. Stiles
Storming was one of her main modes of transportation." In reference to teenager Heather in "Carry The One ~ Carol Anshaw
Transportation quotes by Carol Anshaw
Her lips are full and red and tend to wetness and do not ask but rather demand, in a pout of liquid silk, to be kissed. I kiss them often, I admit it, it is what I do, I am a kisser, and a kiss with Lenore is, if I may indulge a bit for a moment here, not so much a kiss as it is a dislocation, a removal and rude transportation of essence from self to lip, so that it is not so much two human bodies coming together and doing the usual things with their lips as it is two sets of lips spawned together and joined in kind from the beginning of post-Scarsdale time, achieving full ontological status only in subsequent union and trailing behind and below them, as they join and become whole, two now utterly superfluous fleshly bodies, drooping outward and downward from the kiss like the tired stems of overblossomed flora, trailing shoes on the ground, husks. ~ David Foster Wallace
Transportation quotes by David Foster Wallace
Things like water and sewage systems require states in a large-scale society, but states are also a good mechanism for dealing with health care, education, public transportation, and infrastructure. ~ Cynthia Kauffman
Transportation quotes by Cynthia Kauffman
Nana, how come we don't got a car?' 'Boy, what do we need a car for? We got a bus that breathes fire, and old Mr. Daniels, who always has a trick for you. ~ Matt De La Pena
Transportation quotes by Matt De La Pena
After a while, you just want transportation, and things like cool cars or motorcycles are all about getting attention. I get all the attention I could ever need, so I kind of like being in a minivan and people not paying so much attention to me. ~ George Clooney
Transportation quotes by George Clooney
Alas, we are what we are, and we need the stories, we need the public transportation, the anxiety meds, the television shows by the dozens, the music in bars and restaurants saving us from the terror of silence, the everlasting promise of brown liquor, the bathrooms in national parks, and the political catchphrases we can all shout and stick to our bumpers. ~ Jaroslav Kalfar
Transportation quotes by Jaroslav Kalfar
Because many advances have happened, we've lost the urgency (and that's just human nature) that we had before, when we couldn't vote, couldn't use mass transportation, or drink from the fountains. ~ Spike Lee
Transportation quotes by Spike Lee
Besides," said Suriyawong. "This was not a rescue operation."
"What was it, target practice? Chinese skeet?"
"An offer of transportation to an invited guest of the Hegemon," said Suriyawong. "And the loan of a knife."
Achilles held up the bloody thing, dangling it from the point. "Yours?" he asked.
"Unless you want to clean it," said Suriyawong.
Achillese handed it to him. Suriyawong took out his cleaning kit and wiped down the blade, then began to polish it.
"You wanted me to die," said Achilles quietly.
"I expected you to solve your own problems," said Suriyawong. ~ Orson Scott Card
Transportation quotes by Orson Scott Card
To acknowledge the need of a new world-view would undermine the whole of their activity, and not many thinkers were willing to pay that price. Particularly not in a society where social exclusion meant rapid transportation to the proudest invention of the humanist sciences: the mental hospital. ~ Alexander Bard
Transportation quotes by Alexander Bard
I'm not sure he's wrong about automobiles," he said. "With all their speed forward they may be a step backward in civilization
that is, in spiritual civilization. It may be that they will not add to the beauty of the world, nor to the life of men's souls. ~ Booth Tarkington
Transportation quotes by Booth Tarkington
The total average cost of driving, including depreciation, maintenance, and insurance, runs about 61 cents a mile, and since the average automobile used for commuting to work contains only 1.1 people, every commute costs a little more than 55 cents per passenger mile. This means that, if you're an automobile commuter traveling twenty-five miles each way to work, you're spending around $30 a day for the privilege, not including the cost, if there is one, to park. You're also spending an hour every day for which, unless you're a cabbie or bus driver yourself, you're not getting paid, and during which you're not doing anything productive at all. For the average American, that's another $24. In transportation, time really is money. ~ Samuel I. Schwartz
Transportation quotes by Samuel I. Schwartz
I've ridden a bike since I was 18. It was the first transportation when I came to Hollywood because it was inexpensive and easy for me. ~ John Travolta
Transportation quotes by John Travolta
Taxes are how we pool our money for public health and safety, infrastructure, research, and services-from the development of vaccines and the Internet to public schools and universities, transportation, courts, police, parks, and safe drinking water. ~ Holly Sklar
Transportation quotes by Holly Sklar
Personally, I refuse to drive a car - I won't have anything to do with any kind of transportation in which I can't read. ~ Arthur C. Clarke
Transportation quotes by Arthur C. Clarke
It is very good, Wisehammer, it's very well written, but it's too-too-political. It will be considered provocative."
"You don't want me to say it."
"Not tonight. We have many people against us."
"I could tone it down. I could omit 'We left our country for our country's good.'"
"That's the best line. ~ Timberlake Wertenbaker
Transportation quotes by Timberlake Wertenbaker
Policy is no longer being written by politicians accountable to the American public. Instead, policies concerning the defense budget, deregulation, health care, public transportation, job training programs, and a host of other crucial areas are now largely written by lobbyists who represent mega corporations. ~ Henry Giroux
Transportation quotes by Henry Giroux
'Star Trek' is a 'Wagon Train' concept - built around characters who travel to worlds 'similar' to our own, and meet the action-adventure-drama which become our stories. Their transportation is the cruiser 'S.S. Yorktown,' performing a well-defined and long-range Exploration-Science-Security mission which helps create our format. ~ Gene Roddenberry
Transportation quotes by Gene Roddenberry
We're making new investments in the development of gasoline and diesel and jet fuel that's actually made from a plant-like substance-algae ... we could replace up to 17 percent of the oil we import for transportation with this fuel that we can grow right here in America. ~ Barack Obama
Transportation quotes by Barack Obama
Gadgetry will continue to relieve mankind of tedious jobs. Kitchen units will be devised that will prepare 'automeals,' heating water and converting it to coffee; toasting bread; frying, poaching or scrambling eggs, grilling bacon, and so on. Breakfasts will be 'ordered' the night before to be ready by a specified hour the next morning.
Communications will become sight-sound and you will see as well as hear the person you telephone. The screen can be used not only to see the people you call but also for studying documents and photographs and reading passages from books. Synchronous satellites, hovering in space will make it possible for you to direct-dial any spot on earth, including the weather stations in Antarctica.
[M]en will continue to withdraw from nature in order to create an environment that will suit them better. By 2014, electroluminescent panels will be in common use. Ceilings and walls will glow softly, and in a variety of colors that will change at the touch of a push button.
Robots will neither be common nor very good in 2014, but they will be in existence.
The appliances of 2014 will have no electric cords, of course, for they will be powered by long- lived batteries running on radioisotopes.
"[H]ighways … in the more advanced sections of the world will have passed their peak in 2014; there will be increasing emphasis on transportation that makes the least possible contact with the surface. There will be aircraft, of course, but ev ~ Isaac Asimov
Transportation quotes by Isaac Asimov
Animal agriculture makes a 40% greater contribution to global warming than all transportation in the world combined; it is the number one cause of climate change. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
Transportation quotes by Jonathan Safran Foer
If we're talking about transportation, the best thing a city can do is densify as quickly as it can. That needs to be said every time this issue comes up, because it's the only universal strategy that works. ~ Alex Steffen
Transportation quotes by Alex Steffen
Owing to the corner pick-up stops required in any case by buses, the short signal frequencies interfere with bus travel time less than long signal frequencies. These same shorter frequencies, unstaggered, constantly hold up and slow down private transportation, which would thereby be discouraged from using these particular streets. In turn, this would mean still less interference and more speed for buses. ~ Jane Jacobs
Transportation quotes by Jane Jacobs
Historically, we have lived in a nation of energy dependence. Dependence on others for our heating and electricity, and for our fuel for transportation. ~ Mike Pompeo
Transportation quotes by Mike Pompeo
This third day of October, 1942, is the first of a new era in transportation, that of space travel ~ Walter Dornberger
Transportation quotes by Walter Dornberger
What's unique about transportation is that it's the one function that repeats itself throughout the supply chain. ~ John Murphy
Transportation quotes by John Murphy
In his discussion of Trika Yoga Abhinavagupta begins with the most advanced approach, and then presents successively easier methods one by one in descending order. This is another example of his particular approach to yoga. His intention is to make the best and the quickest method of yoga immediately available to all aspirants. If they succeed at the highest level, they need not go through the long chain of lower stages. However, if certain aspirants feel that they cannot handle the most advanced path successfully, then they are free to move along a more structured path and to choose any of the methods that accommodate their psychophysical capacity. The important point is that spiritual students should not assume that they are not fit for the most advanced method. Why should people resort to riding on a bullock cart when an airplane is at their disposal? If, however, they are unable to handle the superior vehicle successfully, they can choose some other more appropriate form of transportation.

- B. N. Pandit, Specific Principles of Kashmir Shaivism (3rd ed., 2008), p. 94–95. ~ Balajinnatha Pandita
Transportation quotes by Balajinnatha Pandita
(Olivia) "What is all of this, your James Bond room?"
"You could say that. It's my backup." He opened cabinets, took out a pill bottle and downed a Percocet. "In here I have weapons, computers, transportation, medical supplies, money and anything else I might need for my survival. Things we'll need to complete this job."
Olivia ran her fingers across several of the weapons on the counter and shelf. "Where's your toothbrush radio and exploding briefcase? ~ Rita Henuber
Transportation quotes by Rita Henuber
I hope climate science becomes the big thing. And then what I want is electrical engineers to solve the world's energy problems, energy distribution problems. I want mechanical engineers to make better transportation systems. I want chemical engineers to develop better solar panels, and so on. ~ Bill Nye
Transportation quotes by Bill Nye
It took him forever to get to downtown Vancouver although Tony had to admit that saving the world by public transportation was a particularly Canadian way to do things. ~ Tanya Huff
Transportation quotes by Tanya Huff
I absolutely love the public transportation system in New York. No matter what, no matter how people complain, it is the best in the world. ~ Malachy McCourt
Transportation quotes by Malachy McCourt
Number one I think we should impose a fee or a tax on the transportation of trash per mile. ~ Ed Rendell
Transportation quotes by Ed Rendell
The main problem facing a parasite over the long term, Burnet noted, is the issue of transmission: how to spread its offspring from one individual host to another. Various methods and traits have developed toward that simple end, ranging from massive replication, airborne dispersal, environmentally resistant life-history stages (like the small form of C. burnetii), direct transfer in blood and other bodily fluids, behavioral influence on the host (as exerted by the rabies virus, for instance, causing infected animals to bite), passage through intermediate or amplifier hosts, and the use of insect and arachnid vectors as means of transportation and injection. ~ David Quammen
Transportation quotes by David Quammen
Whether it's in in livability, transportation, or the environment, Portland is always leading the country. We have more to do before we achieve our goals, but we should all be encouraged by our progress and this recognition. ~ Earl Blumenauer
Transportation quotes by Earl Blumenauer
We need to get to the other side of the lake if you want to help the fairies," said Mikolay. We could use my crystal ball for transportation," suggested Julia pulling out a small crystal ball out of her pocket. ~ Magda M. Olchawska
Transportation quotes by Magda M. Olchawska
Have the courage to do something which deserves transportation if you want to be somebody. ~ Juvenal
Transportation quotes by Juvenal
He has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating it's most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere, or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither. This practical warfare, the opprobrium of INFIDEL powers, is the warfare of the CHRISTIAN king of Great Britain. Determined to keep open a market where MEN should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or to restrain this execrable commerce. ~ Thomas Jefferson
Transportation quotes by Thomas Jefferson
Our goal was to completely change transportation. Change traffic. And make it possible to get anywhere you want to go without owning a car. ~ Logan Green
Transportation quotes by Logan Green
When the commodities go up and the cost of transportation is going up, and the value of the dollar is going down, it's all going to translate to an 8 to 10 percent rise in food prices. ~ John Catsimatidis
Transportation quotes by John Catsimatidis
Americans get it. They're ready for some opportunities to have greener communities, to have cleaner communities, and to have transportation options that perhaps they haven't had in the past. ~ Greg Abbott
Transportation quotes by Greg Abbott
We live in an exciting time. We now know more than ever about our biology and about our history, allowing us to peer into the future with greater clarity than has previously been possible. But at the same time, the changes we are undergoing, brought about by our own advances in technology, medicine, transportation-- and by the growing impact we are having on the world around us-- mean that we live in a time in which the future looks increasingly less like the past. We have become an odd species, indeed, but our story is not yet over. Like all species, Homo sapiens continues to evolve, so there is one thing we can say with certainty: the people of tomorrow will not be the same as the people of today. ~ Scott Solomon
Transportation quotes by Scott Solomon
A brick could be affixed to each end of an axle, for an example of transportation in a pre-wheel society. ~ Jarod Kintz
Transportation quotes by Jarod Kintz
I was always fast riding bikes with my brother who got me on a bike. There was little to do so I ended up riding everywhere. It was both my transportation, entertainment, and a good way perhaps to make a living I hope. ~ Peter Sagan
Transportation quotes by Peter Sagan
I've always been fascinated with how transportation systems work and how cities are designed. ~ Logan Green
Transportation quotes by Logan Green
What Paris has done right is to make it awful to get around by car and awfully easy to get around by public transportation or by bike. ~ Serge Schmemann
Transportation quotes by Serge Schmemann
I finally decided to adopt guidelines rather than set a budget. If it could be done at home, skip it. If I had done it before, skip it. If the odds were that I would never have another chance to do it, do it. Scrimp on meals, transportation and accommodations. ~ Kristine K. Stevens
Transportation quotes by Kristine K. Stevens
Oil is essential for a modern, industrial society. It's unique, first of all, because it's the primary source, at 40 percent, of the world's entire supply of energy, and it's irreplaceable in the transportation field; it provides 98 percent of world transportation energy. ~ Michael Klare
Transportation quotes by Michael Klare
As a concept, free-trade zones are as old as commerce itself, and were all the more relevant in ancient times when the transportation of goods required multiple holdovers and rest stops. Pre-Roman Empire city-states, including Tyre, Carthage and Utica, encouraged trade by declaring themselves "free cities," where goods in transit could be stored without tax, and merchants would be protected from harm. These tax-free areas developed further economic significance during colonial times, when entire cities- including Hong Kong, Singapore and Gibraltar - were designated as "free ports" from which the loot of colonialism could be safely shipped back to England, Europe or America with low import tariffs. Today, the globe is dotted with variations on these tax-free pockets, from duty-free shops in airports and free banking zones of the Cayman Islands to bonded warehouses and ports where goods in transit are held, sorted and packaged. ~ Naomi Klein
Transportation quotes by Naomi Klein
Transportation made sublimation literal. It conveyed evil to another world. ~ Robert Hughes
Transportation quotes by Robert Hughes
After a plane or train crash, the National Transportation Safety Board dispatches its experts within two hours. The investigators in their familiar jackets take charge of the scene, secure evidence, follow leads. ~ Bill Dedman
Transportation quotes by Bill Dedman
The E.U.-U.S. Open Aviation Area agreement therefore envisages the establishment of a broadly similar cooperation framework between the Commission and the Department of Transportation. ~ Neelie Kroes
Transportation quotes by Neelie Kroes
When you want to move somebody, you have to say to yourself: 'I'm in the emotional transportation business. I gotta move them, emotionally.' ~ Peter Guber
Transportation quotes by Peter Guber
A broken transportation system hits Michiganders in the pocketbook. Every year, our friends and neighbors spend millions of dollars on car repairs after driving on crumbling streets. ~ Kerry Bentivolio
Transportation quotes by Kerry Bentivolio
Mass transportation is doomed to failure in North America because a person's car is the only place where he can be alone and think. ~ Marshall McLuhan
Transportation quotes by Marshall McLuhan
When you are traveling by bus, it is always difficult to decide whether you should sit in a seat by the window, a seat on the aisle, or a seat in the middle. If you take an aisle seat, you have the advantage of being able to stretch your legs whenever you like, but you have the disadvantage of people walking by you and they can accidentally step on your toes or spill something on your clothing. If you take a window seat, you have the advantage of getting a clear view of the scenery, but you have the disadvantage of watching insects die as they hit the glass. If you take a middle seat, you have neither of these advantages, and you have the added disadvantage of people leaning all over you when they fall asleep. You can see at once why you should always arrange to hire a limousine or rent a mule rather than take the bus to your destination. ~ Lemony Snicket
Transportation quotes by Lemony Snicket
A brick could be used to simulate a war opponent. Especially if your nemesis is paraplegic and without transportation. ~ Jarod Kintz
Transportation quotes by Jarod Kintz
We need to stop burning fossil fuels and utilize only wind, water, and solar power with all generation of power coming from individual or small community units like windmills, waterwheels, and solar panels. Sea transportation should be by sail ... Air transportation should be by solar powered blimps when air transportation is necessary. ~ Paul Watson
Transportation quotes by Paul Watson
The failure to invest in our public transportation and public life, I think, is a scandal and a shame, and it should be a national embarrassment. ~ Mark Shields
Transportation quotes by Mark Shields
Your business should be defined, not in terms of the product or service you offer, but in terms of what customer need your product or service fulfills. While products come and go, basic needs and customer groups stay around, i.e., the need for communication, the need for transportation, etc. What market need do you supply? ~ Ken Blanchard
Transportation quotes by Ken Blanchard
The test of a democracy is not the magnificence of buildings or the speed of automobiles or the efficiency of air transportation, but rather the care given to the welfare of all the people. ~ Helen Keller
Transportation quotes by Helen Keller
Beginning in 1973 and then acts in '77, '78, 1980, 1994 and then into the 21st century in the international arena, governments have steadily gotten out of the transportation business. ~ Frederick W. Smith
Transportation quotes by Frederick W. Smith
If it weren't for public transportation," Sam said, "my brother wouldn't be getting married today. He and Maggie fell in love along the ferry route
from Bellingham to Anacortes ... which brings to mind the old saying that life is a journey. Some people have a natural sense of direction. You could
put them in the middle of a foreign country and they could find their way around. My brother is not one of those people." Sam paused as some of the
guests started laughing, and his older brother gave him a mock-warning glance. "So when Mark by some miracle manages to end up where he was
supposed to be, it's a nice surprise for everyone, including Mark." More laughter from the crowd. "Somehow, even with all the roadblocks and
detours and one-way streets, Mark managed to find his way to Maggie." Sam raised his glass. "To Mark and Maggie's journey together. And to
Holly, who is loved more than any girl in the whole wide world. ~ Lisa Kleypas
Transportation quotes by Lisa Kleypas
For most of my time in Tallahassee, I did a lot of transportation. ~ Dan Webster
Transportation quotes by Dan Webster
Economically, the key flaw in the high-wage argument is that it confuses wage rates with labor costs - and labor costs with total costs. Wage rates are measured per hour of work. Labor costs are measured per unit of output. Total costs include not only the cost of labor but also the cost of capital, raw materials, transportation, and other things needed to produce output and bring the finished product to market. ~ Anonymous
Transportation quotes by Anonymous
I went to work at seven in the morning. Around noon time we got the watery soup. And we worked until seven or eight or nine at night, sometimes later. And then I walked back home - there was no public transportation - into that shared room. And if there was food we would prepare an evening meal depending on what was available. And then probably go to bed because it was cold most the time. And then start the day all over again, six or seven days a week. ~ Lucille Eichengreen
Transportation quotes by Lucille Eichengreen
All of us have two minds, a private one, which is usually strange, I guess, and symbolic, and a public one, a social one. Most of us stream back and forth between those two minds, drifting around in our private self and then coming forward into the public self whenever we need to. But sometimes you get a little slow making the transition, you drag out the private part of your life and people know you're doing it. They almost always catch on, knowing that someone is standing before them thinking about things that can't be shared, like the one monkey that knows where a freshwater pond is. And sometimes the public mind is such a total bummer and the private self is alive with beauty and danger and secrets and things that don't make any sense but that repeat and repeat and demand to be listened to, and you find it harder and harder to come forward. The pathway between those two states of mind suddenly seems very steep, a hell of a lot of work and not really worth it. Then I think it becomes a matter of what side of the great divide you get caught on. Some people get stuck on the public, approved side and they're all right, for what it's worth. And some people get stuck on the completely strange and private side of the divide, and that's what we call crazy and its not really completely wrong to call it that but it doesn't say it as it truly is. It's more like a lack of mobility, a transportation problem, getting stuck, being the us we are in private but not stopping… ~ Scott Spencer
Transportation quotes by Scott Spencer
It really matters whether people are working on generating clean energy or improving transportation or making the Internet work better and all those things. And small groups of people can have a really huge impact. ~ Larry Page
Transportation quotes by Larry Page
Here is Senator Russell in a colloquy on the Senate floor with Senator Proxmire: There is something about preparing for destruction that causes men to be more careless in spending money than they would be if they were building for constructive purposes. Why that is so I do not know; but I have observed, over a period of almost thirty years in the Senate, that there is something about buying arms with which to kill, to destroy, to wipe out cities, and to obliterate great transportation systems which causes men not to reckon the dollar cost as closely as they do when they think about proper housing and the care of the health of human beings. ~ Paul A. Baran
Transportation quotes by Paul A. Baran
We spent $100 billion on education, saving the education system 300,000 teachers who were laid off because of the recession. We also put tens of thousands of lower income kids in college through Pell grants which has fundamentally all their opportunity. We did the same thing with regard to what we did on transportation. So we weren't' just trying to - we knew we had to do something big to keep us from going over the cliff into a depression and pull us out of hole. ~ Joe Biden
Transportation quotes by Joe Biden
If someone asks you what the most popular form of transportation is, before you jump to car, you might want to ask what area and era. If the answer is today in the mountains, the answer might be truck. If the answer is England 1776, the answer might be horse. ~ Jarod Kintz
Transportation quotes by Jarod Kintz
If food was no longer obliged to make intercontinental journeys, but stayed part of a system in which it can be consumed over short distances, we would save a lot of energy and carbon dioxide emissions. And just think of what we would save in ecological terms without long-distance transportation, refrigeration, and packaging
which ends up on the garbage dump anyway
and storage, which steals time, space, and vast portions of nature and beauty. ~ Carlo Petrini
Transportation quotes by Carlo Petrini
I believe that States should be credited for their non-Federal investment in revenue-generating transportation facilities to address their regional transportation needs. ~ Michael Burgess
Transportation quotes by Michael Burgess
Getting from La Jolla to Alta Vista State Hospital isn't easy, unless you have a car or a breakdown. April's Father had a breakdown and they got him there in no time. ~ Tobias Wolff
Transportation quotes by Tobias Wolff
I remain as committed as ever to working across party lines with anyone who believes we must invest in the future of our economy by revitalizing our transportation infrastructure, ensuring every child is getting a world class education, and spurring research and development of new technologies. ~ Jim Himes
Transportation quotes by Jim Himes
You should never rely on public transportation during the apocalypse. Everyone should know that. ~ J. Cornell Michel
Transportation quotes by J. Cornell Michel
We have some real political differences among us, but we all share the same goals: clean air and water, injury free workplaces, safe transportation systems, to name a few of the good things that can come from regulation. ~ Fred Thompson
Transportation quotes by Fred Thompson
Farmers, merchants, manufacturers, and the traveling public have all had their troubles with the transportation lines, and the difficulties to which these struggles have given rise have produced that problem which is even now apparently far from solution. ~ John Moody
Transportation quotes by John Moody
What is this?"

"It's a Harley."

I looked at him from the corner of my eye before turning my silent censure back onto his bike.

"I was implying that you should take me to your big boy mode of transportation instead. ~ Adrianne Brooks
Transportation quotes by Adrianne Brooks
Bicycles are the most efficient vehicles on the planet, 50 times more efficient than cars, and twice as efficient as walking. ~ Godo Stoyke
Transportation quotes by Godo Stoyke
A motorcycle was the worst form of transportation when you were holding an angry grudge against its driver. ~ Kristen Ashley
Transportation quotes by Kristen Ashley
One of the main reasons America should re-elect President Obama is that he is still committed to cooperation. He appointed Republican Secretaries of Defense, the Army and Transportation. He appointed a Vice President who ran against him in 2008. ~ William J. Clinton
Transportation quotes by William J. Clinton
