Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Animals do not betray; they do not exploit; they do not oppress; they do not enslave; they do not sin. They have their being, and their being is honest, and who can say this of man? ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
But what was a body? Dust, dung, urine, itches. It was the light within which was important, and it was not significant if that light endured after death, or if the soul was blinded eternally in the endless night of the suspired flesh. ~ Taylor Caldwell

Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
I am not alone at all, I thought. I was never alone at all. And that, of course, is the message of Christmas. We are never alone. Not when the night is darkest, the wind coldest, the world seemingly most indifferent. For this is still the time God chooses. ~ Taylor Caldwell

It's a funny thing about love: you don't need to have it returned to love somebody. Loving's enough.
A Prologue to Love ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
I'm not that interested in people. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Men who retain irony are not to be trusted. They can't always resist an impulse to tickle themselves. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
If a nation has not God that nation must fall, but if a nation has God then all the powers of evil, and all the armies, cannot shake its foundations; no, not even if the whole world is arrayed against it. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
You can be happy with money and you can be wretched with it. It depends on what kind of person you are.

Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
No man is more abhorred than a man who is different from his neighbors. They feel violated and threatened if one dares to be as they are not. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
The very idea of carrying my memory into eternity devastated me, and I took refuge in atheism. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Though I am a Catholic, a professing one, I have serious doubts about the survival of the human personality after death. ~ Taylor Caldwell

Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
What manner of men had lived in those days...who had so eagerly surrendered their sovereignty for a lie and a delusion? Why had they been so anxious to believe that the government could solve problems for them which had been pridefully solved, many times over, by their fathers? Had their characters become so weak and debased, so craven and emasculated, that offers of government dole had become more important than their liberty and their humanity? Had they not know that power delegated to the government becomes the club of tyrants? They must have known. They had their own history to remember, and the history of five thousand years. Yet, they had willingly and knowingly, with all this knowledge, declared themselves unfit to manage their own affairs and had placed their lives, which belonged to God only, in the hands of sinister men who had long plotted to enslave them, by wars, by "directives," by "emergencies." In the name of the American people, the American people had been made captive. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
I saw Hunter when I woke up. I saw Hunter as I ate a bowl of cereal. I saw him in human sexuality, where he seemed to be trying to break a record for most innuendos in one hour. I saw him at work where he assaulted my email. I saw him every night at dinner. I saw him go to and from the bathroom. I saw him at our stupid meditations, where were as pointless as socks with sandals.
I. Saw. Him. EVERYWHERE. ~ Chelsea M. Cameron
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Chelsea M. Cameron
Honest men live on charity in their age; the almshouses are full of men who never stole a copper penny. Honest men are the fools and the saints. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
I should walk away. That would be the right thing to do. It would be the smart thing. But I can't, because I'm Taylor Caldwell, the girl who cuts. ~ S. Elle Cameron
Taylor Caldwell quotes by S. Elle Cameron
I nearly had a cakegasm at the table. My eyes rolled back in my head, and I moaned.
"Sweet Christ." I opened my eyes to find Hunter watching me with the strangest expression on his face.
"What? It's really good; you should try some," I said, pushing the plate at him. It was a testament of how embarrassed I was about the cakegasm that I was even sharing at all.
"I swear, if there weren't a table between us, I would be kissing you right now. And none too gently."
I put my form down and swallowed so I wouldn't choke. "You didn't seem to mind about the recliner," I said.
"True. But there wan't an audience, and that's a very ugly recliner. This is a very nice table. Also there is glass and sharp things I wouldn't want hurting you."
"Good point. Please, have some."
"If you're going to make that noise and that face again, I don't know if I can let you have any more."
"I'll be good. I swear."
"You're not good. That's the problem."
"You're right. I'm not," I said, giving him my own smirk. "I do try, though."
"Cruel. That's the word to describe you right now."
"Just have some cake. ~ Chelsea M. Cameron

Taylor Caldwell quotes by Chelsea M. Cameron
But the people in the old country love their children. We have big families, and by the time a child is a year old he knows where he fits in the family and what he should do and what he shouldn't do. He knows his parents love him but that they're not going to stand for any nonsense and tantrums. So he is satisfied and feels safe. American children never feel safe. -The Listener ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell

Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell

Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Man was the outlaw, the rebel, the distorted shape that scarred the earth, the voice that silenced the music of Eden, the hand that raised up obscenities and blasphemies. Man was the pariah-dog, the moral leper in this translucent mirror of Heaven. He was the muddier of crystal waters, the despoiler of forests, the murderer of the innocent, the challenger against God. He was the assassin of the saints and the prophets, for they spoke of what he WOULD NOT HEAR, in the darkness of his spirit! ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell

"Everything I do is to impress her. It's my mission in life," he said with a completely serious face, while he squeezed my knee under the table.
Mom burst out laughing. "I like him," she said.
"Me too. I think I'll keep him," I said, taking his hand and twisting my fingers with his.
"Good," he said, giving my hand a squeeze. ~ Chelsea M. Cameron
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Chelsea M. Cameron
A statement that is repugnant to one's beliefs can be as true as one that is pleasurable. ~ Taylor Caldwell

Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
We are not old unless we desire to be. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
If genetic memory or racial memory persists, is it possible that individual memory also exists from previous lives? ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
We, perhaps, have corrupted our children and our grandchildren by heedless affluence, by a lack of manliness, by giving the younger generation more money and liberty than their youth can handle, by indoctrinating them with sinister ideologies and false values, by permitting them, as young children, to indulge themselves in imprudence to superiors and defiance of duly constituted authority, by lack of prudent, swift punishment when the transgressed, by coddling and pampering them when they were children and protecting them from a very dangerous world ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
I often reread books I have written. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Are we not all desperate one way or another? ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Corrupt citizens breed corrupt rulers, and it is the mob who finally decides when virtue shall die. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
There is no solid satisfaction in any career for a woman like myself. There is no home, no true freedom, no hope, no joy, no expectation for tomorrow, no contentment. I would rather cook a meal for a man and bring him his slippers and feel myself in the protection of his arms than have all the citations and awards and honors I have received worldwide, including the Ribbon of Legion of Honor and my property and my bank accounts. They mean nothing to me. And I am only one among the millions of sad women like myself. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
The American insanity for Loving Everybody is ruining my good temper and delivering my stomach to enormous bouts with acidity. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell

Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
A wise man distrusts his neighbor. A wiser man distrusts both his neighbor and himself. The wisest man of all distrusts his government. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
The more wants a man has, the less freedom. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell

Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Despair is sometimes the great energizer of the mind, though sometimes its flowering may be sterile. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Yes," said Pericles. "Today's patriotism may be tomorrow's treason, if it serves any judge or politician. And so it would go with any statute you might define today, no matter how explicit the terms. Let us suppose that a future Roman Head of Stae is a plotting and ambitious his country. So he might say to his pople, 'I love my country and in the name of that love I propose such and such an amendment to the Constitution, of which our fathers would have approved in the light of today's needs and changing circumstances. In truth, the Constitution of our fathers really means so-and-so.' I assure you, gentlemen, that he will already have a band of fellow traitors who will uphold him, and help to confuse the citizens. Then, if any patriot would oppose him the traitor will denounce him for treason! You can be certain, then,, that the unfortunate patriot would suffer the penalty for the alleged crime. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Tel Aviv appeals to me. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
On the day when you again allow abominable men to confiscate your freedom, your money, your lives, your private property, your manhood and your sacred honor, in the name of "security' or "national emergency' you will die, and never again shall you be free. If plotters again destroy your Republic, they will do it by your greedy and ignorant assent, by your disregard of your neighbors' rights, by your apathy and your stupidity. We were brought to the brink of universal death and darkness because we had become that most contemptible of people -- an angerless one. Keep alive and vivid all your righteous anger against traitors, against those who would abrogate your Constitution, against those who would lead you to wars with false slogans and cunning appeals to your patriotism. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Even the most malignant gods would not continue to inflict life upon humanity, time without end. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
Mankind adores its betrayers, and murders its saviors. ~ Taylor Caldwell
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Caldwell
You're serious?"
"As a heart attack."
I set my bag down and leaned on the counter. Okay, Hunter Zaccadelli, you could make me dinner.
"Stuffed French toast, sweet potato hash and strawberries and cream."
"Breakfast for dinner? You rebel, you. ~ Chelsea M. Cameron
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Chelsea M. Cameron
We have found that morals are not, like bacon, to be cured by hanging; nor, like wine, to be improved by sea voyages; nor, like honey, to be preserved in cells. ~ William Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by William Taylor
I just sometimes hoped that I could have something more than just fine. Someone who made me feel like I hung the moon. But I sort of stopped believing that existed, I think. ~ Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Advice is like snow; the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind. ~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Samuel Taylor Coleridge
I'm involved with Kid One Transport and Studio by the Tracks in Alabama. Kid One literally transports kids to better health by giving them transportation they may need to get medical care. Studio by the Tracks is an art outlet for mentally challenged children. ~ Taylor Hicks
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Hicks
I would love to sign on to do a movie if it was the right role and if it was the right script, because I would be taking time away from music to tell a big grand story, and spend all of my time and pouring all of my emotions into being someone else. So for me to do that, it would have to be a story worth telling. ~ Taylor Swift
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Swift
So i sneak out to the garden to see you, we keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew, so close your eyes, escape this town for a little while. ~ Taylor Swift
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Swift
Once upon a time, the sky knew the weight of angel armies on the move, and the wind blew infernal with the fire of their wings. ~ Laini Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Laini Taylor
Oh I know the whole world prefers a woman who doesn't know her power, but I'm sick of all that. ~ Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Sometimes I feel like all the crap in the world is building up inside me, like all the bad is just filling me like a balloon. I push it all back, live my happy life.
But sometimes that balloon exposed and all the crap lands on everything around me. ~ Keary Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Keary Taylor
Do you want to marry me?" He touched his forehead to hers. "I do." She wanted to tell him more, but couldn't think of how to word it. He was her accomplice, her boss, her opponent. "I know." He could see it in her eyes, as only he could do. The officiate kept on, the droning words harmonizing with the waves. Mist from the ocean sprinkled over them. "Where there's you, there's always gonna be me. As long as I breathe," Beckett told her. She touched his lips with her fingertips. "I know." The next words came in with another wave. "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. ~ Debra Anastasia
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Debra Anastasia
As much as I would really like to have saved myself heartache, embarrassment or gossip, I also know that my biggest mistakes have turned into my best lessons and sometimes my greatest career triumphs. If my life had been turbulence-free, no bumps in the road at all, maybe my music would be beige, maybe the stadiums wouldn't be full and the mantle would be a little more empty. ~ Taylor Swift
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Swift
I've always held to the belief, though, that people who do too much acting training always look like they're acting, you know? ~ Noah Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Noah Taylor
[E]ach of our voices has something unique to say. Not only should I not mold my life to the demands of external conformity; I can't even find the model by which to live outside myself. I can only find it within. ~ Charles Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Charles Taylor
Daisy comes back from this monthlong vacation and she's somehow ten pounds lighter than when she left, which, you know, Daisy didn't have ten pounds to lose. And she's cut all of her hair off and she's got a diamond ring on, and she's a princess. ~ Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Taylor Caldwell quotes by John Taylor Gatto
My mother died of ovarian cancer; I support organizations that raise awareness of this silent killer. Women's shelters - Jenesse Center in L.A. and the Primo Center in Chicago. Kovler Diabetes Center in Chicago. ~ Regina Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Regina Taylor
Trust in the familiar seems to be matched by wariness of the unfamiliar. Jennifer Richeson of Northwestern University has conducted experiments in which white subjects had to interact in some way with a white or a black man before taking a mental test. Those who dealt with the black man got lower scores on the test, and their brain scans showed what Prof. Richeson called "heightened activity in areas of the brain associated with regulating our thoughts and emotions." She interpreted this to mean that white subjects were struggling with the "awkwardness" or "exhaustion" of dealing with a black man, and that this interfered with their ability to take the mental test.
Researchers at Harvard and New York University had white and black subjects look repeatedly at a series of photographs of black and white faces, all with neutral expressions. Every time the subjects looked at one particular black face and one particular white face they got a mild electric shock. Lie detector-type devices showed that subjects would sweat - a typical stress reaction - when they saw the two faces they associated with the shocks. The researchers showed the photo series several times again, but without the shocks. White subjects quickly stopped sweating when they saw the white face formerly associated with the shock, but continued to sweat when they saw the black face. Black subjects had the opposite reaction, continuing to sweat when they saw the white but not the black face. Mahzarin Banaji, the ~ Jared Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Jared Taylor
In nothing do we fail more, as a Mission, than in lack of tact and politeness. ~ James Hudson Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by James Hudson Taylor
[Coleridge] selected an instance of what was called the sublime, in DARWIN, who imagined the creation of the universe to have taken place in a moment, by the explosion of a mass of matter in the womb, or centre of space. In one and the same instant of time, suns and planets shot into systems in every direction, and filled and spangled the illimitable void! He asserted this to be an intolerable degradation -referring, as it were, all the beauty and harmony of nature to something like the bursting of a barrel of gunpowder! that spit its combustible materials into a pock-freckled creation! ~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Samuel Taylor Coleridge
We have shown that social enjoyment and amusements are not incompatible with correct conduct and true religion. Instead of forbidding the theatre and placing it under ban, it has been the aim of the Latter-day Saints to control it and keep it free from impure influences, and to preserve it as a place where all could meet for the purpose of healthful enjoyment. Our leading men have, therefore, gone to these places with the view, by their presence, of restraining all practices and influences that would be injurious to the young and rising generation. Too great care cannot be exercised that liberty shall not degenerate into license, and not to convert that which should furnish enjoyment and simple pleasure into a means of producing unhealthful excitement or corrupting morals.

Our social parties should be conducted in a manner to give gratification to all who attend them, however delicate and refined they may be in their feelings. Rude and boisterous conduct and everything of an improper character should be forbidden at such assemblages. . . . Committee-men and officers in charge of parties should see that dances of every kind are conducted in a modest and becoming manner, and that no behavior be permitted that would lead to evil or that would offend the most delicate susceptibilities. ~ John Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by John Taylor
Nothing is inevitable until it happens. ~ A.J.P. Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by A.J.P. Taylor
It's very vulnerable, being an artist, telling the truth like that, like we're doing now. When you're living your life, you're so inside your head, you're swirling around in your own pain, that it's hard to see how obvious it is to the people around you. These songs I was writing felt coded and secret, but I suspect they weren't coded and secret at all. ~ Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Your parents don't understand why you're asking and you can't quite explain it to them. You just say, "This one is tainted." But what you mean is that you feel like it absorbed your suffering. You know it sounds crazy but you believe your pain is in the mattress and you don't want to absorb it back into your own body.

You know it's not that simple. But it feels like it is. ~ Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Taylor Jenkins Reid
My air bag went off this morning. I told her to shut the hell up. ~ Robert Leland Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Robert Leland Taylor
She always said we were guests. Intruders. I believed her, but I didn't really consider it. This world was not ours. It hadn't been for a very long time. Sleeping ~ Lauren Nicolle Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Lauren Nicolle Taylor
Finding Akiva's door still closed, Liraz gave a chuff of derision and didn't knock but only crashed it open and glared at the sight that greeted them. Akiva and Karou, eyes bleary with desire, facing each other on a stone slab and touching, hands to hearts ... "Well," Liraz said, her voice as dry as the rest of her was not. "At least you still have your clothes on. ~ Laini Taylor
Taylor Caldwell quotes by Laini Taylor
Not being able to talk sucks. There's no doubt about that. There's a lot of times when I almost feel like I'm trapped inside of myself. Like if I don't talk or yell or scream or laugh I'm going to explode. A lot of the time it almost feels like I'm suffocating. ~ Keary Taylor
