An accumulation of pennies is a fortune. Day-to-day practice is perfection. A dream realized is nothing more than many steps taken toward the borders of once-impossible. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Steps Taken quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
A step taken to a new idea is a step taken to a new world! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Steps Taken quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
Just believe in yourself, and you will realize that even those small steps taken in the right direction can produce great results. ~ Prem Jagyasi
Steps Taken quotes by Prem Jagyasi
These examples and many others demonstrate an alarming trend whereby the privacy and dignity of our citizens is being whittled away by sometimes imperceptible steps. Taken individually, each step may be of little consequence. But when viewed as a whole, there begins to emerge a society quite unlike any we have seen
a society in which government may intrude into the secret regions of man's life at will.
[Osborn v. United States, 385 U.S. 323, 343 (1966) (dissenting)] ~ William O. Douglas
Steps Taken quotes by William O. Douglas
I look on trade and every mechanical craft as education also. But let me discriminate what is precious herein. There is in each ofthese works an act of invention, an intellectual step, or short series of steps taken; that act or step is the spiritual act; all the rest is mere repetition of the same a thousand times. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Steps Taken quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
The road does seem long before you embark on the journey,
That's why I think the most difficult part is to start.
But when you are in motion, and steps taken become many,
Nothing can stop you; that's only if you guard your heart. ~ Innocent Mwatsikesimbe
Steps Taken quotes by Innocent Mwatsikesimbe
When Jesus asked His followers to remember Him in the meal, what if Jesus wasn't referring to the steps taken in a ritual? What if Jesus was saying instead to organize your gatherings just like this one? Make sure you invite tax collectors, traitors, zealots, rough blue-collar workers, and loudmouths. And seat them all at the same table, indicating to them and everyone else that they are welcomed and cherished by God. ~ Josh Ross
Steps Taken quotes by Josh Ross
Process transforms any journey into a series of small steps, taken one by one, to reach any goal. Process transcends time, teaches patience, rests on a solid foundation of careful preparation, and embodies trust in our unfolding potential. ~ Dan Millman
Steps Taken quotes by Dan Millman
Small steps taken by many people in their backyards add up. ~ Nancy Knowlton
Steps Taken quotes by Nancy Knowlton
Nothing in life is ever wasted, especially steps taken towards truth. ~ Osho
Steps Taken quotes by Osho
Law and order is one of the steps taken to maintain injustice. ~ Edward Bond
Steps Taken quotes by Edward Bond
An increasing number of devices allow people to collect data about themselves: blood sugar levels, the number of steps taken each day, and sleep cycles. It won't be long before checking blood work will only require a relatively inexpensive device that plugs into a smartphone, not a visit to the doctor's office. The cost of sequencing the genome continues to drop, and soon it will be as unremarkable as taking a fingerprint. ~ John Durant
Steps Taken quotes by John Durant
We live and learn, change and grow. Older, but not always wiser. Stronger but not necessarily smarter. Life is a dance of steps taken forward and backwards, time spent standing still, and twirling in circles as we follow our own shadows. ~ A.J. Compton
Steps Taken quotes by A.J. Compton
In the aftermath, we are because they were. ~ RJ Heller
Steps Taken quotes by RJ Heller
and one knows,
after a long time of solitude, after the many steps taken
away from one's kind, toward the kingdom of strangers,
the hard prayer inside one's own singing
is to come back, if one can, to one's own,
a world almost lost, in the exile that deepens,
when one has lived a long time alone. ~ Galway Kinnell
Steps Taken quotes by Galway Kinnell
I've always been a missionary and what people don't know is that I've always taken some strategic and eyebrow-raising steps. ~ LeCrae
Steps Taken quotes by LeCrae
He was held together by cotter pins, hose clamps, nuts, bolts, and magnets. Salo's tangerine-colored skin, which was so expressive when he was emotionally disturbed, could be put on or taken off like an Earthling wind-breaker. A magnetic zipper held it shut. ~ Kurt Vonnegut
Steps Taken quotes by Kurt Vonnegut
There is common ground we can look towards and hopefully make this country better for all of us. That is what Joe for America means. I want more jobs. I want veterans to have better benefits and not have them taken away. I want people to succeed in this country and have the tools to do so. ~ Joe Wurzelbacher
Steps Taken quotes by Joe Wurzelbacher
Boyfriend huh? I didn't realize we had taken things to that level."
"Oh, I'm sorry
this is my first undercover operation," Jordan said. "I'm a little unclear about the rules. Are we seeing other people in this fake relationship? ~ Julie James
Steps Taken quotes by Julie James
In our modern society the image and mythic process has been taken over by corporations that directly control advertising and, indirectly, the entertainment industry. Powerful erotic images are used for the sole purpose of selling consumer products; the side effects of this commercialization have a profound impact on the sexual imagination and identity of vast numbers of people. ~ Robert Lawlor
Steps Taken quotes by Robert Lawlor
He was empty within. There was no stimulus, no absorbing task into which he could throw himself. But his nervous activity, his inability to be quiet, ... had indeed taken the upper hand and become his master. It was something artificial, a pressure on the nerves, a depressant, in fact ... This craving for activity had become a martyrdom, but it was dissipated in a host of trivialities. ~ Thomas Mann
Steps Taken quotes by Thomas Mann
The sale of sex in modern societies is not about spreading genes. Sex has been taken over by the memes. ~ Susan Blackmore
Steps Taken quotes by Susan Blackmore
Two mornings later, entering her daughter's room, Kate was struck by the flatness of the bed, and then by the sight of a folded paper laid dead centre of the untenanted pillow. Unfolded, it proved to be a witty and delightfully-written apology from her daughter for upsetting the household, coupled with the information that, having some business of vital importance to transact north of the Border in the immediate future, she had taken the liberty of leaving for a few days without permission, as she just knew that Kate would make a fuss and stop her. She would be back directly with some heather, and Kate was not to worry and not to speak to any strange men. She had, Philippa concluded, taken Cheese-wame Henderson with her: thus becoming the only known fugitive to persuade her bodyguard to run away, too. It was a typical Somerville letter, and in other circumstances Kate no doubt would have been charmed by the spelling alone. As it was, she roused the neighbourhood for ten miles around, and there was no able-bodied Englishman within reach of Flaw Valleys who slept in his own bed that night or the next. ~ Dorothy Dunnett
Steps Taken quotes by Dorothy Dunnett
Yet if you scratched very deep at that idea of pattern (which apparently he had never taken the trouble to do), you hit an emptiness so dark that it destroyed, categorically, anything you'd ever looked at or thought of as light. ~ Donna Tartt
Steps Taken quotes by Donna Tartt
In the operative opinion of the world, he who is already fully provided with what is necessary for him, that man shall have more;while he who is deplorably destitute of the same, he shall have taken away from him even that which he hath. Yet the world vows it is a very plain, downright matter-of-fact, plodding, humane sort of world. ~ Herman Melville
Steps Taken quotes by Herman Melville
When people are going to be taken from you anyway, then it would be better if you had never come to care for them. ~ Peter Hoeg
Steps Taken quotes by Peter Hoeg
The hardest thing is to forgive, but God does, even if you murdered or robbed, ya it's wrong, but God loves, take one step toward him he'll take two toward you, even when all else fails, God'll support you ~ Nas
Steps Taken quotes by Nas
Don't stop," she pleaded with swollen lips. "Please, Guy, don't stop."
The same hunger that ran through him had taken her as well. What kind of man would he be to leave her with such need? ~ Donna Grant
Steps Taken quotes by Donna Grant
I stole your seed, the succubus said to his mind, and he could not deny it. They had done it to him several times in the years of his torment, had taken his seed and spawned alu-demons, Wulfgar's children. It was the first time Wulfgar had been able to consciously recall the memory since his return to the surface, the first time the horror of seeing his demonic offspring had forced itself through the mental barriers he had erected. ~ R.A. Salvatore
Steps Taken quotes by R.A. Salvatore
When you're living by default, you're automatically reacting to life in habitual ways, many of which may be limiting you and your life. In contrast, living deliberately means making more conscious and constructive life choices. When you're living deliberately, you're living from a position of responsibility; you're making choices with greater awareness. You're taken yourself off autopilot, so you're better prepared to align your actions with the results you want to achieve. ~ Lauren Mackler
Steps Taken quotes by Lauren Mackler
Have you not heard his silent steps? He comes, comes, ever comes.

Every moment and every age, every day and every night he comes, comes, ever comes.

Many a song have I sung in many a mood of mind, but all their notes have always proclaimed, `He comes, comes, ever comes.'

In the fragrant days of sunny April through the forest path he comes, comes, ever comes.

In the rainy gloom of July nights on the thundering chariot of clouds he comes, comes, ever comes.

In sorrow after sorrow it is his steps that press upon my heart, and it is the golden touch of his feet that makes my joy to shine. ~ Rabindranath Tagore
Steps Taken quotes by Rabindranath Tagore
As Governor of my country, I have been an enemy to its enemies; I have slain the English; I have mortally opposed the English King; I have stormed and taken the towns and castles which he unjustly claimed as his own. ~ William Wallace
Steps Taken quotes by William Wallace
One step at a time is all it takes to get you there. ~ Emily Dickinson
Steps Taken quotes by Emily Dickinson
These qualities are beautifully encapsulated in the famous statement of Victor Frankl, himself a survivor of Auschwitz (and a neurologist and psychologist): "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." MBSR, ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn
Steps Taken quotes by Jon Kabat-Zinn
When evening fell and the grey twilight spread its dusky robe upon the waters, she stretched her arms out to the silent river that had known her sorrow and her joy. And the old river had taken her into its gentle arms, and had laid her weary head upon its bosom, and had hushed away the pain. ~ Jerome K. Jerome
Steps Taken quotes by Jerome K. Jerome
I sat up straight. "How in the world does a simple Cockney pickpocket know all about 'The Vampyre' and Frankenstein and their connections?"
Mina's eyes widened, gleaming like marbles in the dim light. I'd actually taken her by surprise.
"That, my dear Miss Stoker, is a very good question. A very good question. ~ Colleen Gleason
Steps Taken quotes by Colleen Gleason
I snapped the crossbow into the top of the mount, took a canvas bundle from the cart, and unrolled it. Crossbow bolts, tipped with the Galahad warheads.
"This is my baby." I petted the stock.
"You have a strange relationship with your weapons," Roman said.
"You have no idea," Raphael told him.
"This from a man with a living staff and a man who once drove four hours both ways for a sword he then put on his wall," I murmured.
"It was an Angus Trim," Raphael said.
"It's a sharpened strip of metal."
"You have an Angus Trim sword?" Kate's eyes lit up.
"Bought it at an estate auction," Raphael said. "If we get out of this alive, you are invited to come to my house and play with it."
It was good that Curran wasn't here and I was secure in our relationship, because that totally could be taken the wrong way. ~ Ilona Andrews
Steps Taken quotes by Ilona Andrews
All I can think about is how I wanted to share those firsts with Logan and how I never knew it was an impossibility because it had already been taken away from me. ~ Siobhan Davis
Steps Taken quotes by Siobhan Davis
When there is a start to be made, don't step over! Start where you are. ~ Edgar Cayce
Steps Taken quotes by Edgar Cayce
I think there is something, more important than believing: Action! The world is full of dreamers, there aren't enough who will move ahead and begin to take concrete steps to actualize their vision. ~ W. Clement Stone
Steps Taken quotes by W. Clement Stone
I like long walks, especialy when they are taken by people who annoy me. ~ Noel Coward
Steps Taken quotes by Noel Coward
She deftly snatches her mace and holds it in her purse for cover. She's totally not about to be taken in by some pale silver eyed maniac. ~ Solange Nicole
Steps Taken quotes by Solange Nicole
What may look like a small act of courage is courage nevertheless. The important thing is to be willing to take a step forward. ~ Daisaku Ikeda
Steps Taken quotes by Daisaku Ikeda
It is a general misconception that the police exist to protect the public. This is true only in the most generic sense--i.e., once a criminal act is committed, and a suspect caught and convicted, theoretically he is locked up so that he cannot prey on other people. The problem is that someone has to be a victim before the criminal can be taken out of society. And many offenders commit dozens of violent acts before they are taught. This doesn't even take into account the fact that the criminal justice system continually releases the most violent offenders. ~ Robert A. Waters
Steps Taken quotes by Robert A. Waters
Memories are always precious, they are memories which will stay, and even though the time goes by, they will never be taken away. ~ Susan Smith
Steps Taken quotes by Susan Smith
I can support Al-Qaeda, the Ku Klux Klan, buy weapons and drugs and all kinds of porn with my Visa card. There is nobody investigating this, but I cannot support a human rights organisation which is fighting for freedom of expression, - Olafur Sigurvinsson, supporter of wikileaks, taken from article by RT discussing a court battle over freedom to donate money to wikileaks. ~ Olafur Sigurvinsson
Steps Taken quotes by Olafur Sigurvinsson
All involve risk, uncertainty, and complexity - and therefore steps that are worth committing to a checklist and testing in routine care. Good checklists could become as important as doctors and nurses as good stethoscopes (which, unlike checklist, have never been proved to make a difference in patient care). The hard question - still unanswered - is whether medical culture can seize the opportunity. ~ Atul Gawande
Steps Taken quotes by Atul Gawande
his career had just taken a great leap forward, he was going to pee in his chief's toilet. ~ Jose Saramago
Steps Taken quotes by Jose Saramago
Countries such as the U.S. and Britain have taken it upon themselves to decide for us in the developing world, even to interfere in our domestic affairs and to bring about what they call regime change. ~ Robert Mugabe
Steps Taken quotes by Robert Mugabe
It is only for a week or two that a broken chair or a door off its hinges is recognised for such. Soon, imperceptibly, it changes its character, and becomes the chair which is always left in the corner, the door which does not shut. A pin, fastening a torn valance, rusts itself into the texture of the stuff, is irremovable; the cracked dessert place and the stewpan with a hole in it, set aside until the man who rivets and solders should chance to come that way, become part of the dresser, are taken down and dusted and put back, and when the man arrives no one remembers them as things in need of repair. Five large keys rest inside the best soup-tureen, scrupulously preserved though no one knows what it was they once opened, and the pastry-cutter is there too, little missed, for the teacup without a handle has taken its place. ~ Sylvia Townsend Warner
Steps Taken quotes by Sylvia Townsend Warner
The Qur'an has not merely been revealed in Arabic: it has been revealed in eloquent Arabic. The language is clear and cogent, and there is no vagueness in it; every word is unambiguous and every style adopted is well known to its addressees. The Qur'an says:

The faithful Spirit has brought it down into your heart [O Prophet] that you may become a warner [for people] in eloquent Arabic. (26:193-195)

In the form of an Arabic Qur'an, free from any ambiguity that they may save themselves [from punishment]. (39:28)

This is an obvious reality about the Qur'an. If this premise is accepted, then it must be conceded that no word used or style adopted by the Qur'an is rare or unknown (shadh). Its words and styles are well known and conventionally understood by its addressees. No aspect of the language has any peculiarity or rarity in it. Consequently, while interpreting the Qur'an, the conventionally understood and known meanings of the words should be taken into consideration. Apart from them, no interpretation is acceptable. Thus in the verses: وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ (6:55), the meaning of the word اَلنَّجْمُ can only be "stars". In وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ وَلَا نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا إِذَا تَمَنَّى أَلْقَى الشَّيْطَانُ فِي أُمْنِيَّتِهِ (52:22), the word تَمَنَّى can only mean "desire". In أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ (17:88), the word الْإِبِلِ has only been used for "camel". The only meaning of t ~ Javed Ahmad Ghamidi

Honestly, 'Battlestar' is a truly unique thing, and it's hard for anything to step up to that. There aren't often shows that are as good as that. ~ Tahmoh Penikett
Steps Taken quotes by Tahmoh Penikett
It has been denied that any direct pressure was exerted by the Russian Government, but the point is not of great importance, for the Communist parties of all countries can be taken as carrying out Russian policy, and it is not denied that the Communist Party was the chief ~ George Orwell
Steps Taken quotes by George Orwell
Skepticism is the first step on the road to philosophy. ~ Denis Diderot
Steps Taken quotes by Denis Diderot
Coming to the balcony, they both rested their elbows on the railing and looked down into the main room, which was filled wall-to-wall with patrons. Evie saw the antique-gold gleam of Sebastian's hair as he half sat on the desk in the corner, relaxed and smiling as he conversed with the crowd of men around him. His actions of ten days ago in saving Evie's life had excited a great deal of public admiration and sympathy, especially after an article in the Times had portrayed him in a heroic light. That, and the perception that his friendship with the powerful Westcliff had renewed, were all it had taken for Sebastian to gain immediate and profound popularity. Piles of invitations arrived at the club daily, requesting the attendance of Lord and Lady St. Vincent at balls, soirees, and other social events, which they declined for reasons of mourning.
There were letters as well, heavily perfumed and written by feminine hands. Evie had not ventured to open any of them, nor had she asked about the senders. The letters had accumulated in a pile in the office, remaining sealed and untouched, until Evie had finally been moved to say something to him earlier that morning. "You have a large pile of unread correspondence," she had told him, as they had taken breakfast together in his room. "It's occupying half the space in the office. What shall we do with all the letters?" An impish smile rose to her lips as she added. "Shall I read them to you while you rest?"
His eyes narrowe ~ Lisa Kleypas
Steps Taken quotes by Lisa Kleypas
It seems like it has kind of taken off where people are saying 'oh it's a female character' and it just kind of grew. But my intent in saying that was humour. You know, you have to show Link when you create a trailer for a Zelda announcement. ~ Eiji Aonuma
Steps Taken quotes by Eiji Aonuma
Some scholars have been arguing that a civilizational clash between organized religions is the next step in human history. ~ Mary Douglas
Steps Taken quotes by Mary Douglas
Someone in our family had taken to wiping his or her ass on the bath towels. What made this exceptionally disturbing was that all our towels were fudge-colored. You'd be drying your hair when, too late, you noticed an unmistakable odor on your hands, head, and face. ~ David Sedaris
Steps Taken quotes by David Sedaris
The belief that science proceeds from observation to theory is still so widely and so firmly held that my denial of it is often met with incredulity. I have even been suspected of being insincere- of denying what nobody in his senses would doubt.
But in fact the belief that we can start with pure observation alone, without anything in the nature of a theory is absurd; as may be illustrated by the story of the man who dedicated his life to natural science, wrote down everything he could observe, and bequeathed his priceless collection of observations to the Royal Society to be used as evidence. This story should show us that though beetles may profitably be collected, observations may not.
Twenty-five years ago I tried to bring home the same point to a group of physics students in Vienna by beginning a lecture with the following instructions : 'Take pencil and paper; carefully observe, and write down what you have observed!' They asked, of course, what I wanted them to observe. Clearly the instruction, 'Observe!' is absurd. (It is not even idiomatic, unless the object of the transitive verb can be taken as understood.) Observation is always selective. It needs a chosen object, a definite task, an interest, a point of view, a problem. And its description presupposes a descriptive language, with property words; it presupposes similarity and classification, which in their turn presuppose interests, points of view, and problems. ~ Karl Popper
Steps Taken quotes by Karl Popper
I think that there is a terrible possibility now, in the World. We may not brush it away, we must look at it. It is possible that They will not die. That it is now within the state of Their art to go on forever - though we, of course, will keep dying as we always have. Death has been the source of Their power. It was easy enough for us to see that. If we are here once, only once, then clearly we are here to take what we can while we may. If They have taken much more, and taken not only from Earth but also from us - well, why begrudge Them, when they're just as doomed to die as we are? All in the same boat, all under the same shadow ... yes ... yes. But is that really true? Or is it the best, and the most carefully propagated, of all Their lies, known and unknown?
We have to carry on under the possibility that we die only because They want us to: because They need our terror for Their survival. ~ Thomas Pynchon
Steps Taken quotes by Thomas Pynchon
A few years before, it had taken her three days to dispose of the Easter chick she had found dead on the sawdust in the bottom of her wastebasket. ~ J.D. Salinger
Steps Taken quotes by J.D. Salinger
Being taken seriously means missing out on the chance to be frivolous, promiscuous, and irrelevant. The desire to be taken seriously is precisely what compels people to follow the tried and true paths of knowledge production around which I would like to map a few detours. ~ J. Jack Halberstam
