The old stories must be learned anew, studied again within the context of a world at odds with itself and only able to be redeemed by the brush of the wing of the great bird of spirit. ~ Michael Meade
Spirit Bird quotes by Michael Meade
While still in the cage of your being behold the spirit bird before it flies away. ~ Rumi

My heart is flailing, thumping in my chest like a bird caught in a cage, wanting to be wild again. ~ Sona Charaipotra

People listen to music with cavemen ears: Is it a bird song or the call of a lion? The audience at a musical is dancing in their hearts. ~ Marsha Norman
Spirit Bird quotes by Marsha Norman
The names of all fine authors are fictitious ones, far more so than that of Junius,
simply standing, as they do, for the mystical, ever-eluding Spirit of all Beauty, which ubiquitously possesses men of genius. ~ Herman Melville
Spirit Bird quotes by Herman Melville
Love, caring, and the spirit of kindness always bring happiness. Our greatest happiness depends on what we love, how we care, and how we share. ~ Debasish Mridha
Spirit Bird quotes by Debasish Mridha
I have sometimes thought that the mere hearing of those songs would do more to impress some minds with the horrible character of slavery, than the reading of whole volumes of philosophy on the subject could do.

I did not, when a slave, understand the deep meaning of those rude and apparently incoherent songs. I was myself within the circle; so that I neither saw nor heard as those without might see and hear. They told a tale of woe which was then altogether beyond my feeble comprehension; they were tones loud, long, and deep; they breathed the prayer and complaint of souls boiling over with bitterest anguish. Every tone was a testimony against slavery, and a prayer to God for deliverance from chains. The hearing of those wild notes always depressed my spirit, and filled me with ineffable sadness. I have frequently found myself in tears while hearing them. The mere recurrence to those songs, even now, afflicts me; and while I am writing these lines, an expression of feeling has already found its way down my cheek. To those songs I trace my first glimmering conception of the dehumanizing character of slavery. I can never get rid of that conception. Those songs still follow me, to deepen my hatred of slavery, and quicken my sympathies for my brethren in bonds. If any one wishes to be impressed with the soul-killing effects of slavery, let him go to Colonel Lloyd's plantation, and, on allowance-day, place himself in the deep pine woods, and there let him, in silence, a ~ Frederick Douglass
Spirit Bird quotes by Frederick Douglass
What is the use of beauty? i have lived my life surrounded by painters, and still I do not know the answer. But i suspect, some days, that beauty helps protect the spirit of mankind, swaddle it and succor it, so that we might survive. Beauty is no end in itself, but if it makes or lives less miserable so that we might be more kind-well, then, lets have beauty, painted on our porcelain, hanging on our walls, ringing through our stories. ~ Gregory Maguire
Spirit Bird quotes by Gregory Maguire
The spirit never leaves, never goes away. ~ Aporva Kala
Spirit Bird quotes by Aporva Kala
There was a heavy, dark pause of vast significance.
Which Jim broke by flashing his hands and belting out, "Booga-wooga!"
At least Eddie laughed. Adrian flipped Jim the bird and headed to the fridge for another beer. ~ J.R. Ward
Spirit Bird quotes by J.R. Ward
Even a genius cannot completely resist his Zeitgeist, the spirit of his time. ~ Viktor E. Frankl
Spirit Bird quotes by Viktor E. Frankl

Clearly, any well-kept garden will be a source of pleasure in the summer months; in the bleak urban midwinter, however, there are few activities more likely to energise the spirit than a botanical walk. ~ John Burnside
Spirit Bird quotes by John Burnside
Free will means that you have the choice to connect to spirit ... or not. ~ Wayne Dyer
Spirit Bird quotes by Wayne Dyer
*And to keep her immune system strong she followed Dr. Goodhue's advice to abstain from alcohol, get plenty of fresh air and exercise, and consume a nourishing diet, low in salt. Page 144
"Fear is good. In the right degree it prevents us from making fools of ourselves. But in the wrong measure it prevents us from fully living. Fear is our boon companion but never our master.". Page 204
"I've come to believe that how we choose to live with pain, or injustice, or death ... Is the true measure of the Divine within us." ... "I used to wonder, why did God give children leprosy? Now I believe: God doesn't give anyone leprosy. He gives us, if we choose to use it, the spirit to live with leprosy, and with the imminence of death. Because it is in our own mortality that we are most Divine.". Page 307
**"With wonder and a growing absence of fear she realized, I am more than I was an hour ago.". Page 372

Spirit Bird quotes by Alan Brennert
It is easy-terribly easy-to shake a man's faith in himself. To take advantage of that to to break a man's spirit is Devil's work. ~ George Bernard Shaw
Spirit Bird quotes by George Bernard Shaw
Genius is not a matter of intelligence, but of spirit; and we cannot speak accurately of the spirit in any language but music. ~ Kim Stanley Robinson
Spirit Bird quotes by Kim Stanley Robinson
The traveller who aspires to reach the highlands of Tibet from Kashmir cannot be borne along in a carriage or hill-cart. For much of the way, he is limited to a foot pace, and if he has regard to his horse, he walks down all rugged and steep descents, which are many, and dismounts at most bridges. ~ Isabella Bird
Spirit Bird quotes by Isabella Bird
Death was a beginning and not an end; it was the morning of the spirit. Tired bodies lay down to sleep and their souls wakened to the morning, rested; the first fruits of them that slept. ~ Mary Roberts Rinehart
Spirit Bird quotes by Mary Roberts Rinehart
...though the Elders are connected to the Great Spirit, they are still only elves. ~ Craig R. Key
Spirit Bird quotes by Craig R. Key
Domination of women has provided a key link, both socially and symbolically, to the domination of earth, hence the tendency in patriarchal cultures to link women with earth, matter, and nature, while identifying males with sky, intellect, and transcendent spirit. ~ Rosemary Radford Ruether
Spirit Bird quotes by Rosemary Radford Ruether
This Christmas may you courageously venture - toward each new and unfolding horizon. ~ Eleesha
Spirit Bird quotes by Eleesha
Soul one might say is more imperfectly infinite than spirit, because soul tends to abolish the ego-consciousness that it absorbs or overwhelms, reducing its particularizing structure to pure sublime feeling (immediacy); but spirit is more successfully infinite than soul, even though also more difficult and abstruse, because it digests the functions of consciousness into itself and thus preserves and deploys the senses and intelligence of conscious ego to higher ends. ~ Kenny Smith
Spirit Bird quotes by Kenny Smith
I can neither teach nor live by the faith of others. I must live by my own faith as the Spirit of the Lord has taught me through His Word. ~ Menno Simons
Spirit Bird quotes by Menno Simons
My feet will tread soft as a deer in the forest. My mind will be clear as water from the sacred well. My heart will be strong as a great oak. My spirit will spread an eagle's wings, and fly forth. ~ Juliet Marillier
Spirit Bird quotes by Juliet Marillier
I bless the Lord that all our troubles come through Christ's fingers, and that He casteth sugar among them and casteth in some ounce withts of heaven and of the spirit of glory in our cup. ~ Samuel Rutherford
Spirit Bird quotes by Samuel Rutherford
The balance and peace we seek for ourselves and our society won't be achieved through mental effort alone. Mind and spirit are meant to travel together, with spirit leading the way. Until we make a conscious commitment to understand and embrace our spiritual nature, we will endure the ache of living without the awareness and guidance of the most essential part of ourselves. ~ Susan L. Taylor
Spirit Bird quotes by Susan L. Taylor
Her childhood had been magical, hours spent in ecstatic loneliness in the apple orchard, dreaming of foreign lands and wild adventures. Everything was new, down to bird song and grass blades. By the time she had reached adulthood, the town around her was like a grandmother who had used up all her stories and now simply rocked on the porch. The same flowers, the same streets, year after year. She longed for someone more exotic. A prince. A pirate. ~ Kathy Hepinstall
Spirit Bird quotes by Kathy Hepinstall
I feel akin to the Platypus. An orphan in a family. A swimmer, a recluse. Part bird, part fish, part lizard. ~ Trevor Dunn
Spirit Bird quotes by Trevor Dunn
The Spirit filters through what I want and shows me who I am. ~ E'yen A. Gardner
Spirit Bird quotes by E'yen A. Gardner
doesn't always work, but when a venture succeeds, there is nothing else quite like it for the mind and spirit. ~ Marc H. Meyer
Spirit Bird quotes by Marc H. Meyer
Although this man spoke pure fluent ghetto, she liked his spirit. She could tell he was attracted to her, and that he was being ever careful with his words. ~ Brandi L. Bates
Spirit Bird quotes by Brandi L. Bates
As down in the sunless retreats of the ocean Sweet flowers are springing no mortal can see, So deep in my soul the still prayer of devotion, Unheard by the world, rises silent to Thee. As still to the star of its worship, though clouded, The needle points faithfully o'er the dim sea, So dark when I roam in this wintry world shrouded, The hope of my spirit turns trembling to Thee. ~ Charles Lamb
Spirit Bird quotes by Charles Lamb
The human spirit is nurtured by praise, as much as a seedling is nurtured by the soil, the water and the sun. ~ Mario Fernandez
Spirit Bird quotes by Mario Fernandez
In any situation you have the choice to stay positive and embrace it with courage, faith, and hope. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Spirit Bird quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Naturally all of us don't think we deserve very much. We don't believe that things will go well for us in the future, generally because they may not have in the past. Our natural bent is to expect the worst. Our natural tendency is to be negative and doubtful. It is actually very hard to be positive. It takes faith to be positive and believe that good things are in our future. ~ Lisa Bedrick
Spirit Bird quotes by Lisa Bedrick
The gospel can lift this destroying burden from the mind, give beauty for ashes, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. But unless the weight of the burden is felt the gospel can mean nothing to the man; and until he sees a vision of God high and lifted up, there will be no woe and no burden. Low views of God destroy the gospel for all who hold them. ~ A.W. Tozer
Spirit Bird quotes by A.W. Tozer
Life a life of Spiritual Adventure. Much like a wild goose the Spirit of God cannot be tracked or tamed. An element of danger, an air of unpredictability surround Him. And while the name may sound a little sacrilegious, I cannot think of a better description of what it's like to pursue the Spirit's leading through life. ~ Mark Batterson
Spirit Bird quotes by Mark Batterson
4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. 5 Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world's viewpoint, and the world listens to them. 6 But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception. ~ Anonymous

I was surprised to see you at practice."
"Are you kidding? I'm all about baseball."
"Really?"
"Oh, yeah. Bird and I haven't missed a Rattler practice or game since the town got the team."
"I've never known a girl who was that into baseball."
"Well, now you do."
Tell your friends. Step right up. Meet the most amazing girl you've ever known. ~ Rachel Hawthorne
