Protecting eagles from the threat of extinction is a conservation success story that we must prudently safeguard for future generations to come. ~ Frances Beinecke
Eagles quotes by Frances Beinecke
I am an anti-imperialist. I am opposed to having the eagle put its talons on any other land. ~ Mark Twain
Eagles quotes by Mark Twain
Tiny as a sparrow, fierce as an eagle, Lisbeth Salander is one of the great Scandinavian avengers of our time, an angry bird catapulting into the fortresses of power and wiping smiles off the faces of smug, predatory pigs. ~ A.O. Scott
Eagles quotes by A.O. Scott
Om rubed his head. This wasn't god-like thinking. It seemed simpler when you were up here. It was all a game. You forgot that it wasn't a game down there. People died. Bits got chopped off. We're like eagles up here, he thought. Sometimes we show tortoise how to fly. Then we let go. ~ Terry Pratchett
Eagles quotes by Terry Pratchett
As well chain the eagle's wing to make it mount, as doubt in order to increase our grace. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Eagles quotes by Charles Haddon Spurgeon
When looking at the evidence of feeding on large prey, you can see every size tooth from hatchling to adult in one spot. The babies may have been fed in the nest until they were full grown, like in eagles and hawks. ~ Robert T. Bakker
Eagles quotes by Robert T. Bakker
The 'Crue' is not the hardest band to cover. There are no harmonies like the Eagles. ~ Brian Miller
Eagles quotes by Brian Miller
The High Places," answered the Shepherd, "are the starting places for the journey down to the lowest place in the world. When you have hinds' feet and can go 'leaping on the mountains and skipping on the hills,' you will be able, as I am, to run down from the heights in the gladdest self-giving and then go up to the mountains again. You will be able to mount to the High Places swifter than eagles, for it is only up on the High Places of Love that anyone can receive the power to pour themselves down in an utter abandonment of self-giving. ~ Hannah Hurnard
Eagles quotes by Hannah Hurnard
Where dark woods hide secrets and mountains are fierce and bold. Deep waters hold reflections of times lost long ago. I will heed every story, take hold of my own dream. Be as strong as the sea is stormy, be as proud as an eagle's scream. ~ Julie Fowlis
Eagles quotes by Julie Fowlis
They mate in the open, under the watch of eagles. Horses come. Fires happen. They are born like an ancient sound, and they dance and wake the dust. ~ Lakshmi Bharadwaj
Eagles quotes by Lakshmi Bharadwaj
The mother eagle teaches her little ones to fly by making their nest so uncomfortable that they are forced to leave it and commit themselves to the unknown world of air outside. And just so does our God to us. He stirs up our comfortable nests, and pushes us over the edge of them, and we are forced to use our wings to save ourselves from fatal falling. Read your trials in this light, and see if you cannot begin to get a glimpse of their meaning. Your wings are being developed. ~ Hannah Whitall Smith
Eagles quotes by Hannah Whitall Smith
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. ISAIAH 40:31 NIV ~ Various
Eagles quotes by Various
And so they parted. And though the Lord of the Eagles became in after days the King of All Birds and wore a golden crown, and his fifteen chieftains golden collars (made of the gold that the dwarves gave them), Bilbo never saw them again - except high and far off in the battle of Five Armies. But as that comes in at the end of this tale we will say no more about it just now. ~ Anonymous
Eagles quotes by Anonymous
According to Festus, our flying table, Buford, made it back safely while we were in Charleston, so those eagles didn't get him. Unfortunately, he lost the laundry bag with your pants."
"Dang it!" Frank Barked, which Leo figured was probably severe profanity for him.
No doubt Frank would've cursed some more -busting out the golly gees and the gosh darns- but Percy interrupted by doubling over and groaning.
"Did the world just turn upside down?" he asked.
Jason pressed his hands to his head. "Yeah, and it's spinning. Everything is yellow. Is it supposed to be yellow? ~ Rick Riordan
Eagles quotes by Rick Riordan
Eagles rarely fail to catch their prey. They usually kill it quickly by breaking its neck with their powerful claws. ~ Stephen Kinzer
Eagles quotes by Stephen Kinzer
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace, Where never the lark, nor even eagle flew- And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high, untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God. ~ Dizzy Gillespie
Eagles quotes by Dizzy Gillespie
How can you say that love is blind? Keener than a young eagle's is its sight. ~ Franz Grillparzer
Eagles quotes by Franz Grillparzer
Shoot eagles on the Jack Nicklaus course,
Porsche with the triple exhaust,
Seats soft like a midget's cough ... ~ Action Bronson
Eagles quotes by Action Bronson
"We may talk what we please," he cries in his enthusiasm for the oldest of the arts, "of lilies, and lions rampant, and spread eagles, in fields d'or or d'argent; but, if heraldry were guided by reason, a plough in a field arable would be the most noble and ancient arms." ~ Abraham Cowley
Eagles quotes by Abraham Cowley
Now I know what a piece of bacon feels like when it is suddenly picked out of the pan on a fork and put back on the shelf!"
"No you don't!" he heard Dori answering, "because the bacon knows that it will get back in the pan sooner or later; and it is to be hoped we shan't. Also eagles aren't forks! ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Eagles quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
The more south we were, the more deep a sky it seemed, till, in the Valley of Mexico, I thought it held back an element too strong for life, and that the flamy brilliance of blue stood off this menace and sometimes, like a sheath or silk membrane, shoed the weight it held in sags. So when later he would fly high over the old craters on the plain, coaly bubbles of the underworld, dangerous red everywhere from the sun, and then coats of snow on the peak of the cones - gliding like a Satan - well, it was here the old priests, before the Spaniards, waited for Aldebaran to come into the middle of heaven to tell them whether or not life would go on for another cycle, and when they received their astronomical sign built their new fire inside the split and emptied chest of a human sacrifice. And also, hereabouts, worshipers disguised as gods and as gods in the disguise of birds, jumped from platforms fixed on long poles, and glided as they spun by the ropes - feathered serpents, and eagles too, the voladores, or fliers. There still are such plummeters, in market places, as there seem to be remnants or conversions or equivalents of all the old things. Instead of racks or pyramids of skulls still in their hair and raining down scraps of flesh there are corpses of dogs, rats, horses, asses, by the roads; the bones dug out of the rented graves are thrown on a pile when the lease is up; and there are the coffins looking like such a rough joke on the female form, sold in the open shops, bl ~ Saul Bellow
Eagles quotes by Saul Bellow
Alamut could be reached only astride eagles. ~ Umberto Eco
Eagles quotes by Umberto Eco
Remain a witness to your emotions as if from a great distance an eagles eye view ~ Rajneesh
Eagles quotes by Rajneesh
Let your boys test their wings. They may not be eagles, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't soar free. ~ C.J. Milbrandt
Eagles quotes by C.J. Milbrandt
The eagle that soars in the upper air does not worry itself how it is to cross rivers. ~ Gladys Aylward
Eagles quotes by Gladys Aylward
The foolish think the Eagle weak, and easy to bring to heel. The Eagle's wings are silken, but its claws are made of steel. ~ Sidney Sheldon
Eagles quotes by Sidney Sheldon
Be winged. Be the father of all flying horses," roared Aslan in a voice that shook the ground. "Your name is Fledge."
The horse shied, just as it might have shied in the old, miserable days when it pulled a hansom. Then it roared. It strained its neck back as if there were a fly biting its shoulders and it wanted to scratch them. And then, just as the beasts had burst out of the earth, there burst out from the shoulders of Fledge wings that spread and grew, larger than eagles', larger than swans', larger than angels' wings in church windows. The feathers shone chestnut color and copper color. He gave a great sweep with them and leapt into the air. Twenty feet above Aslan and Digory he snorted, neighed, and curvetted. Then, after circling once round them, he dropped to the earth, all four hoofs together, looking awkward and surprised, but extremely pleased.
"Is it good, Fledge?" said Aslan.
"It is very good, Aslan," said Fledge. ~ C.S. Lewis
Eagles quotes by C.S. Lewis
Who would attempt to fly with the tiny wings of a sparrow when the mighty power of an eagle has been given him ~ Kenneth Wapnick
Eagles quotes by Kenneth Wapnick
After ripping through The Hobbit, I read The Lord of the Rings, and the darkness of that story enveloped me in a way that is impossible to explain. I was THERE, in a very real sense. The fear was palpable in the presence of the black-cloaked Ringwraiths, and I could taste the sulfurous fumes of Mt. Doom. I could smell the sweat of horses and hot leather and hear the clash of battle as I rode with the Rohan on the fields of the Pelennor. I bled and died with the sun-king, Theoden. I rose again with Eowyn's defiance of the Witch King. I soared with the Eagles as they swept the broken and bloody body of Frodo and his companion Samwise the Brave from the smoking crags of the fiery mountain. There has never been such a story, and I don't think there ever shall be again. ~ Steve Bivans
Eagles quotes by Steve Bivans
Eagles live in the darkness,
And the sons of the Alps
Cross over the abyss without fear
On lightly-built bridges.
***
Growing weak on the separate mountains
Then give us calm waters;
Give us wings, and loyal minds
To cross over and return. ~ Friedrich Holderlin
Eagles quotes by Friedrich Holderlin
You know, I think I did originally have some sort of idea of maybe a Where Eagles Dare kind of mission against impossible odds, but it really sort of died before I had a chance to really go anywhere with it, and then just doing the book was out of the question. ~ Garth Ennis
Eagles quotes by Garth Ennis
[ELLA] Oh! You know what Wes?

[WESLEY] What?

[ELLA] That story your father used to tell about that eagle. You remember the whole thing?

[WESLEY] Yeah.

[ELLA] I remember he keeps coming back and swooping down on the shed roof and then flying off again. What else?

[WESLEY] I don't know.

[ELLA] You remember. What happens next?

[WESLEY] A cat comes.

[ELLA] That's right. A big tomcat comes. He jumps up on top of that roof to sniff around in all the entails or whatever it was.

[WESLEY] And that eagle comes down and picks up that cat in his talons and carries him screaming off into the sky.

[ELLA] And they fight. They fight like crazy in the middle of the sky. The cat's tearing his chest out, and the eagle's trying to drop him, but the cat won't let go because he knows if he falls he'll die.

[WESLEY] And the eagle's being torn apart in midair. The eagle's trying to free himself from the cat, and the cat won't let go.

[ELLA] And they come crashing down to earth. Both of them come crashing down. Like one whole thing. ~ Sam Shepard
Eagles quotes by Sam Shepard
Father, thank You for all the blessings of provision, health, strength and renewal of youth which I can experience because of Jesus' finished work at the cross. Today, as I look to You and wait upon You, renew my youth and strength, so that I may mount up with wings like eagles. I want to run and not be weary, walk and not faint. Grant me good health all the days of my life. I want to glorify You in my body, enjoy all that You have blessed me with and be able to fulfill all Your plans and purposes for me! ~ Joseph Prince
Eagles quotes by Joseph Prince
There are no coincidences in this world ... You must see with the eagle's eye. You must detach, lift above a conundrum, and map the terrain of it. Everything happens for a reason, if you can but discern the pattern. ~ Karen Marie Moning
Eagles quotes by Karen Marie Moning
The eagles ruled the air as the tribes ruled the land. ~ Conn Iggulden
Eagles quotes by Conn Iggulden
With every breath and thought, or non-thought, I was communicating with, and connecting with the wild – mountains, whales, eagles; even the stars – the Big Dipper and the North Star shining brightly in the Alaska night sky on my Alaska adventure served to point me to a safe harbor, within. ~ Tom North
Eagles quotes by Tom North
Did you ever know that you're my hero, you're everything I wish I could be. I could fly higher than an eagle with you as the wind beneath my wings. ~ Gary Morris
Eagles quotes by Gary Morris
But who does hawk at eagles with a dove? ~ George Herbert
Eagles quotes by George Herbert
... But don't be late, Troy, or I'll ... " She hesitated and laughed, not entirely happily. "I don't suppose I'll ever need to worry about you again, will I? I don't suppose I've ever needed to worry over a magician."
"There are always car accidents," Tabitha declared cheerfully. "A car could come around the corner and ... wallop! You'd need a terrific magician to get out of that one ... "
"Or eagles dropping tortoises," Troy added, looking amused. "That happened in Ancient Greece, you know. An eagle dropped a tortoise on some dramatist and killed him."
"No eagles or tortoises here," said Tabitha, "but a bit could fall off a plane. ~ Margaret Mahy
Eagles quotes by Margaret Mahy
And when you reach the place where this understanding overtakes you; that there is no one in the world that will ever love you with the force and power you can love yourself with. That no saviour in the form of a spouse or best friend is coming to make you complete and that you are your own saviour, your own best friend and perhaps the only saviour and best friend you will have, you will soar on wings of eagles and amazing things will happen. ~ Adunni Badmus
Eagles quotes by Adunni Badmus
We must especially beware of that small group of selfish men who would clip the wings of the American Eagle in order to feather their own nests. ~ Franklin D. Roosevelt
Eagles quotes by Franklin D. Roosevelt
Eagles fly alone, not because they are proud, but because they are not afraid of soaring above the clouds. ~ Matshona Dhliwayo
Eagles quotes by Matshona Dhliwayo
If I know a song of Africa, of the giraffe and the African new moon lying on her back, of the plows in the fields and the sweaty faces of the coffee pickers, does Africa know a song of me? Will the air over the plain quiver with a color that I have had on, or the children invent a game in which my name is, or the full moon throw a shadow over the gravel of the drive that was like me, or will the eagles of the Ngong Hills look out for me? ~ Karen Blixen
Eagles quotes by Karen Blixen
A symbol is an important thing. That is why we chose an Aztec eagle. It gives pride ... When people see it they know it means dignity. ~ Cesar Chavez
Eagles quotes by Cesar Chavez
The Eagle has landed. ~ Neil Armstrong
Eagles quotes by Neil Armstrong
We fly, not on the wings of eagles, but on the dreams of life. ~ Anthony T. Hincks
Eagles quotes by Anthony T. Hincks
Remember that your tracks are one strand of the web woven endlessly in the hand of god. They're tied to those of the mouse in the field, the eagle on the mountain, the crab in its hold, the lizard beneath its rock. The leaf that falls to the ground a thousand miles away touches your life. The impress of your foot in the soil is felt through a thousand generations. ~ Daniel Quinn
Eagles quotes by Daniel Quinn
Fourth of July
By the River, By the River
came the White Horse Rider
On "Freedom" call
and eagles' wings he soared ...
Still Believe and Reach out Strong
Don't give up when things go wrong!
Always have hope ...
Remember the day
When the flag stood high
and the future
seemed to go on endless
across the sky ~ Phil Mitchell
Eagles quotes by Phil Mitchell
It is in the mountains that the eagles dwell ~ Leo Tolstoy
Eagles quotes by Leo Tolstoy
Birds in flight fascinate me. I admire eagles and falcons. I'm inspired by a feather but also its color, its graphics, its weightlessness and its engineering. It's so elaborate. In fact I try and transpose the beauty of a bird to women. ~ Alexander McQueen
Eagles quotes by Alexander McQueen
They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. ~ Patricia Christian Punches
Eagles quotes by Patricia Christian Punches
As a child, I tried to play by the rules. I got very good grades in school; I was an Eagle Scout; and I believed in all of it. ~ George Meyer
Eagles quotes by George Meyer
I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths led. And through the air, I am he that walks unseen.
I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly. I was chosen for the lucky number.
I am he that buries his friends alive and drowns them and draws them alive again from the water. I came from the end of a bag, but no bag went over me.
I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles. I am Ringwinner and Luckwearer; and I am Barrel-rider. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Eagles quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
be careful with whom you spend time. My dad says, "If you want to fly with eagles, don't run with turkeys." You will acquire the characteristics of the people you spend time with. ~ Christopher V. Flett
Eagles quotes by Christopher V. Flett
If you want to soar like an eagle in life, you can't be flocking with the turkeys. ~ Warren Buffett
Eagles quotes by Warren Buffett
There are heroes and heroes. I don't deny he's acted bravely on occasion. He's fought beside Lord Gwydion and been proud of himself as a chick wearing eagle's feathers. But that's only one kind of bravery. Has the darling robin ever scratched for his own worms? That's bravery of another sort. And between the two, dear Orwen, he might find the latter shows the greater courage. ~ Lloyd Alexander
Eagles quotes by Lloyd Alexander
The Eagle, he was lord above ~ William Wordsworth
Eagles quotes by William Wordsworth
An eagle uses the negative energy of a storm to fly even higher. ~ Eric Thomas
Eagles quotes by Eric Thomas
Just as eagles soar through the vast expanse of the sky without meeting any obstructions, needing only minimal effort to maintain their flight, so advanced meditators concentrating on emptiness can meditate on emptiness for a long time with little effort. Their minds soar through space-like emptiness, undistracted by any other phenomenon. When we meditate on emptiness we should try to emulate these meditators. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Eagles quotes by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
I think the Jets came in with a legitimate offer. At that point, I hadn't had one from the Eagles. I had to think, 'I've really got to work up here [in New York]? Do you really want to deal with that on a weekly basis? ~ Jon Runyan
Eagles quotes by Jon Runyan
A while ago in real-time you saw the eagles. And you wished. ~ Parke Godwin
Eagles quotes by Parke Godwin
The eagles are coming! ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Eagles quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
As high over the mountains the eagle spreads its wings, may your perspective be larger than the view from the foothills. When the way is flat and dull in times of gray endurance, may your imagination continue to evoke horizons. ~ John O'Donohue

Ascent To The Sierras

Beyond the great valley an odd instinctive rising
Begins to possess the ground, the flatness gathers
to little humps and
barrows, low aimless ridges,
A sudden violence of rock crowns them. The crowded
orchards end, they
have come to a stone knife;
The farms are finished; the sudden foot of the
slerra. Hill over hill,
snow-ridge beyond mountain gather
The blue air of their height about them.

Here at the foot of the pass
The fierce clans of the mountain you'd think for
thousands of years,
Men with harsh mouths and eyes like the eagles' hunger,
Have gathered among these rocks at the dead hour
Of the morning star and the stars waning
To raid the plain and at moonrise returning driven
Their scared booty to the highlands, the tossing horns
And glazed eyes in the light of torches. The men have
looked back
Standing above these rock-heads to bark laughter
At the burning granaries and the farms and the town
That sow the dark flat land with terrible rubies...
lighting the dead...
It is not true: from this land
The curse was lifted; the highlands have kept peace
with ~ Robinson Jeffers
Eagles quotes by Robinson Jeffers
Men of genius are like eagles, they live on what they kill, while men of talents are like crows, they live on what has been killed for them. ~ Josh Billings
Eagles quotes by Josh Billings
Let others emulate the eagle's flight, Life in the lowly plains may be as bright. ~ Henrik Ibsen
Eagles quotes by Henrik Ibsen
As a human being it is just my nature to enjoy and share philosophy. I do this in the same way that some birds are eagles and some doves, some flowers lilies and some roses. ~ Alan Watts
Eagles quotes by Alan Watts
He is the earth and sunlight, the leaves of trees, the eagle's flight. He is alive. And all who ever died, live; they are reborn and have no end, nor will there ever be an end. ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
Eagles quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
When day begins to break I count my blessings, good and bad, Being wakeful for your sake, Remembering the covenant we've always had, What eagle look your face still shows, While up from my heart's root So great a sweetness flows I shake from head to foot. ~ P.C. Cast
Eagles quotes by P.C. Cast
If the Eagles were to get back together, it would have to be for the right reasons. I think it would look awful if it were just for the money. ~ Glenn Frey
Eagles quotes by Glenn Frey
We live our life in chains not knowing we always had the keys. ~ Eagles
Eagles quotes by Eagles
Religion Caesar never knew Thy posterity shall sway, Where his eagles never flew, None as invincible as they. ~ William Cowper
Eagles quotes by William Cowper
What happened to your foot?"
"I had a little disagreement with an eagle
stupid birds, eagles. He couldn't tell the difference between a hawk and a pigeon. I had to educate him. He bit me while I was tearing out a sizable number of his wing feathers."
"Uncle," Polgara said reproachfully.
"He started it. ~ David Eddings
Eagles quotes by David Eddings
You need eagles wings to get over things that make no sense in this world. ~ Tom Petty
Eagles quotes by Tom Petty
I look at my career as a body of work, not just Queens of the Stone Age records. I'm in Eagles of Death Metal, I'm in Them Crooked Vultures; I make records with other people. ~ Josh Homme
Eagles quotes by Josh Homme
You Westerosi are all the same. You sew some beast upon a scrap of silk, and suddenly you are all lions, or dragons, or eagles. ~ George R R Martin
Eagles quotes by George R R Martin
Art still followed where Rome's eagles flew. ~ Alexander Pope
Eagles quotes by Alexander Pope
Every place of refuge has its price. ~ Eagles
Eagles quotes by Eagles
Eagles, buffalos and deserts vast,
it's no good living in the fucking past. ~ Mark Jackman
Eagles quotes by Mark Jackman
I don't have to play for the Eagles. ~ Terrell Owens
Eagles quotes by Terrell Owens
It is never too late to go quietly to our lakes, rivers, oceans, even our small streams, and say to the sea gulls, the great blue herons, the bald eagles, the salmon, that we are sorry. ~ Brenda Peterson
Eagles quotes by Brenda Peterson
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy. (from song, Take it Easy) ~ Eagles
Eagles quotes by Eagles
Metaphors for God drawn from human experience can easily be literalized. While we are immediately aware that the personal God is not really a rock or a mother eagle, it is easy enough to imagine that God is really a king or a father. ~ Sandra Marie Schneiders
Eagles quotes by Sandra Marie Schneiders
Fame has eagle wings, and yet she mounts not so high as man's desires. ~ Benjamin Disraeli
Eagles quotes by Benjamin Disraeli
Ruby saw the walls of her own soul, saw things sparkling there she had never thought to look upon. Pictures of women, old, ancient with eyes like eagles, hand with love burning. She saw Maggie. There were sparkling lights lining the walls, gemstones gleaming. ~ Cynthia Bond
Eagles quotes by Cynthia Bond
We're all turkeys! Some of us are running around with our heads cut off, some of us are flapping our wings that hard we're close to flying. But nothing is an eagle bar God ... ~ Phil Collins
Eagles quotes by Phil Collins
It is with a rush of home-sickness that the thought of death presents itself ... Such sentiment is the eternal stock of all religions, modified indeed by changes of time and place, but indestructible, because its root is so deep in the earth of man's nature. The breath of religious initiators passes over them; a few "rise up with wings as eagles" [Isaiah 40:31], but the broad level of religious life is not permanently changed. Religious progress, like all purely spiritual progress, is confined to a few. ~ Walter Pater
Eagles quotes by Walter Pater
There is a wisdom that is woe; but there is a woe that is madness. And there is a Catskill eagle in some souls that can alike dive down into the blackest gorges, and soar out of them again and become invisible in the sunny spaces. And even if he for ever flies within the gorge, that gorge is in the mountains; so that even in his lowest swoop the mountain eagle is still higher than other birds upon the plain, even though they soar. ~ Herman Melville
Eagles quotes by Herman Melville
The Secret to Flight

Don't flap your wings so hard. It only exhausts you.

Close your eyes. Lean into the currents, say yes. Let the wind raise you higher and higher. So easy. That's what Eagles do.

Oh, this is the secret to life as well. ~ Kamal Ravikant
Eagles quotes by Kamal Ravikant
He's just jealous. You know what they say. Empty tin cans make the most noise, and he's an empty tin can. This game is between the Bears and the Eagles, not Ditka and Ryan. We all know who would win that one. Ditka, hands down. ~ Mike Ditka
Eagles quotes by Mike Ditka
Houston, Tranquillity Base here. The Eagle has landed. ~ Neil Armstrong
Eagles quotes by Neil Armstrong
I don't know if I was ever called out, but I definitely have been told my chest hair gets super long. I don't like it at all, so I definitely shave my chest a bunch. I have a really nice, huge eagle on my whole chest, with the words "Strength" and "Honor" and "Sanctimony" around it, so I like to keep that clean and clear. ~ Ryan Sheckler
Eagles quotes by Ryan Sheckler
You can't criticize Bob Dylan's singing. You have to respect Billy Joel as a brilliant poet. You can't tell me there's a better rock band ever than Led Zeppelin. And if you speak during the Eagles' "Last Resort," we're done. I'm just asking for seven minutes. This stuff really matters, you know. ~ Charlie Sheen
Eagles quotes by Charlie Sheen
If we stand by the eagle, fish will die; if we stand by the fish, eagle will die! This dilemma has been created by the random evolutionary process. There is no goodness, there is no justice and there is no intelligence in here. We are living in a primitive and flawed order. ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Eagles quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
I look in the glass sometimes at my two long, cylindrical bags (so picturesquely rugged about the knees), my stand-up collar and billycock hat, and wonder what right I have to go about making God's world hideous. Then wild and wicked thoughts come into my heart. I don't want to be good and respectable. (I never can be sensible, I'm told; so that don't matter.) I want to put on lavender-colored tights, with red velvet breeches and a green doublet slashed with yellow; to have a light-blue silk cloak on my shoulder, and a black eagle's plume waving from my hat, and a big sword, and a falcon, and a lance, and a prancing horse, so that I might go about and gladden the eyes of the people. Why should we all try to look like ants crawling over a dust-heap? Why shouldn't we dress a little gayly? I am sure if we did we should be happier. True, it is a little thing, but we are a little race, and what is the use of our pretending otherwise and spoiling fun? Let philosophers get themselves up like old crows if they like. But let me be a butterfly. ~ Jerome K. Jerome
Eagles quotes by Jerome K. Jerome
The emmet's inch and eagle's mile
Make lame philosophy to smile.
He who doubts from what he sees
Will ne'er believe, do what you please.

- "Auguries of Innocence ~ William Blake
Eagles quotes by William Blake
I have often been reminded of the wild duck that came down on migration into a barnyard and liked it so well that he stayed there. In the fall his erstwhile companions passed overhead and his first impulse was to rise and join them, but he had fed too well and could rise no higher than the eaves of the barn. The day came when his old fellow travelers could pass overhead without his even hearing their call. I have seen men and women who once mounted up with wings like eagles but are now content to live in the barnyard of this world. ~ Vance Havner
Eagles quotes by Vance Havner
In demonstrating that humans behave with justice, tolerance, reason, love toward other forms of life, we are doing no more than demanding that humans be human
that is, be true to the best aspects of human nature.
Humans being human, therefore, cannot consider themselves morally superior to, say, bears being bear-like, eagles being eagle-like, etc. ~ Edward Abbey
Eagles quotes by Edward Abbey
There's a lust in man, no charm can tame, of loudly publishing our neighbor's shame. ~ Juvenal
Eagles quotes by Juvenal
When I returned to camp, they walked behind me on the trail, and we spoke not a word about getting skunked today, but rather talked about the days we returned with a stringer full of fish, and how we filleted them and the left the guts out for bears and eagles, and how those fish tasted fresh when we fried them over a fire. ~ Daniel J. Rice
Eagles quotes by Daniel J. Rice
