And the second [thing about the CBS EVENING NEWS that stands out in the mind of Michael J. Fox] was something Katie did later in the interview, as the drugs kicked in and the tremors segued into the jerkiness of dyskinesias. Somewhere in the contortions of making a point, my left arm detached the microphone clip from my jacket lapel. With no fuss and hardly a break in conversation or eye contact, she calmly leaned over and refastened it. Neither of us commented on it, but it was such an empathetic gesture, so far from anything patronizing or pitying, a simple kindness that allowed me the dignity to carry on making a point more important than the superficiality of my physical circumstance ...
... One thing was abundantly clear though, whether or not she was able to forget how much she liked me: with that single act of consideration, she made it abundantly clear how much she loved her father. ~ Michael J. Fox
Simple Kindness quotes by Michael J. Fox
Etiquette-a fancy word for simple kindness. ~ Elsa Maxwell
Simple Kindness quotes by Elsa Maxwell
What is my religion? Simple. Kindness. ~ Dalai Lama
Simple Kindness quotes by Dalai Lama
I have been beaten here,
locked away,
violated a hundred times,
and a hundred times more.
I have been starved,
and cheated,
tricked
and disgraced.
How odd is it that I am undone by the simple kindness of a small boy with a yellow pencil. ~ Patricia McCormick
Simple Kindness quotes by Patricia McCormick
Somewhere near you, somebody right now is trying to help the indigent and poor - providing food, shelter, clothing or simple kindness. ~ Tony Snow
Simple Kindness quotes by Tony Snow
Then I catch myself and listlessly wonder again for which of my sins I am being punished. I am sick to death of this wound that will not close; of how my babyish heart mistakes any simple kindness from a woman for a breadcrumb trail leading to the soft love of a mother or the fond approval of a grandmother. I am tired of carrying this dull orphan-pain, for though it has lost its power to surprise, every season it still reaps its harvest of hurt. ~ Hope Jahren
Simple Kindness quotes by Hope Jahren
Here's what I love about travel: strangers get a chance to amaze you. Sometimes a single day can bring a blooming surprise, a simple kindness that opens a chink in the brittle shell of your heart and makes you a different person when you go to sleep--more tender, less jaded--than you were when you woke up. ~ Tanya Shaffer
Simple Kindness quotes by Tanya Shaffer
In today's world simple kindness is a revolutionary act. ~ Bryant McGill
Simple Kindness quotes by Bryant McGill
Until we reflect basic kindness in everything we do, our political gestures will be fleeting and fragile. Simple kindness may be the most vital key to the riddle of how human beings can live with each other in peace ... and care properly for this planet we all share. ~ Bo Lozoff
Simple Kindness quotes by Bo Lozoff
The most powerful force that can transform an enemy into a friend is simple kindness. ~ Debasish Mridha
Simple Kindness quotes by Debasish Mridha
The good young man went out and I felt the great relief that simple kindness can work. It is a salve of the spirit, surely. ~ Geraldine Brooks
Simple Kindness quotes by Geraldine Brooks
Nothing is so powerful as love and simple kindness. ~ Debasish Mridha
Simple Kindness quotes by Debasish Mridha
There is nothing lonelier than lights extinguishing themselves at the end of a long day, no one left to do them the simple kindness of snuffing out. ~ Hilary Leichter
Simple Kindness quotes by Hilary Leichter
Sometimes it's easy to walk by because we know we can't change someone's whole life in a single afternoon. But what we fail to realize it that simple kindness can go a long way toward encouraging someone who is stuck in a desolate place. ~ Mike Yankoski
Simple Kindness quotes by Mike Yankoski
This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness. ~ Dalai Lama XIV
Simple Kindness quotes by Dalai Lama XIV
For once in her life, the thought of being on the back of a magnificent horse did not command Rycca's attention. She was far too busy looking at her magnicifent husband as he removed his sword belt and blithely shucked off his trousers. Naked, he walked straight into the pool, submerged completely, and came up a few minutes later, tossing streams of water from the thick mane of his hair.
"Hand me the soap,would you?"
Such a simple task, yet to fulfill it he would have to come closer.Or she would.
"That's a lovely gown," he said, smiling.
"All my gowns are lovely thanks to the Lady Krysta and your own generosity."
"It would be a shame to get it wet."
She looked at him in alarm, wondering if he would actually do such a thing. His answer was a look of pure innocence, which immediately confirmed her suspicions.
"Do you have any idea how any women must have labored so long to make this gown?"
"No,do you?"
"Well,no,not actually because I never had a gown like this before, but even so, surely you wouldn't do anything to damage it?"
"Just to be safe, why don't you take it off?"
Oh,yes, that would certainly be safe. Indeed, never was she any safer than when was she naked and in his arms. Except, of course, from the danger of her own emotions.
"I bathed when I awoke."
"The day is warm."
"The pool looks deep.Recall, I cannot swim."
"Recall I mean to teach you. ~ Josie Litton
Simple Kindness quotes by Josie Litton
Intuition is the innate ability in everyone to perceive truth directly - not by reason, logic, or analysis, but by a simple knowing from within. That is the very meaning of the word "intuition": to know, or understand from within - from one's own self, and from the heart of whatever one is trying to understand. Intuition is the inner ability to see behind the outer forms of things to their inner essence. ~ Goswami Kriyananda
Simple Kindness quotes by Goswami Kriyananda
Let kindness go from us to others with every gift, and good desires with every Christmas greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with a clear heart. May the Christmas morning make us happy to be Thy children, and the Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen. - ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON ~ David P. Gushee
Simple Kindness quotes by David P. Gushee
Kindness is a rotten fruit that poisons anyone who partakes of it. Throw it in the face of your enemies and let it ruin them instead. ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon
Simple Kindness quotes by Sherrilyn Kenyon
This problem, too, will look simple after it is solved. ~ Charles Kettering
Simple Kindness quotes by Charles Kettering
The most complicated and scary things in life are really about something a lot more simple. ~ Lara Zielin
Simple Kindness quotes by Lara Zielin
Girls aside, the other thing I found in the last few years of being at school, was a quiet, but strong Christian faith – and this touched me profoundly, setting up a relationship or faith that has followed me ever since.

I am so grateful for this. It has provided me with a real anchor to my life and has been the secret strength to so many great adventures since.

But it came to me very simply one day at school, aged only sixteen.

As a young kid, I had always found that a faith in God was so natural. It was a simple comfort to me: unquestioning and personal.

But once I went to school and was forced to sit through somewhere in the region of nine hundred dry, Latin-liturgical, chapel services, listening to stereotypical churchy people droning on, I just thought that I had got the whole faith deal wrong.

Maybe God wasn't intimate and personal but was much more like chapel was … tedious, judgemental, boring and irrelevant.

The irony was that if chapel was all of those things, a real faith is the opposite. But somehow, and without much thought, I had thrown the beautiful out with the boring. If church stinks, then faith must do, too.

The precious, natural, instinctive faith I had known when I was younger was tossed out with this newly found delusion that because I was growing up, it was time to 'believe' like a grown-up.

I mean, what does a child know about faith?

It took a low point a ~ Bear Grylls
Simple Kindness quotes by Bear Grylls
We were sent here just to be kind to each other. ~ Debasish Mridha
Simple Kindness quotes by Debasish Mridha
I definitely spend the most money on shoes, partly because vintage footwear can be a little funky - in a bad way. I like to keep things pretty simple up top and then go weird with the shoes. ~ Chloe Sevigny
Simple Kindness quotes by Chloe Sevigny
1. Most wars are asymmetrical or irregular.
2. In these wars, the guerrillas/irregulars/insurgents do not aim for military victory.
3. You can not defeat these groups by killing lots of their members. In fact, they want you to do that.
4. High-tech weaponry is mostly useless in these wars.
5. "Hearts and minds," meaning propaganda and morale, are more important than military superiority.
6. Most people are not rational; they are tribal: "My gang yeah, your gang boo!" It really is that simple. The rest is cosmetics. ~ Gary Brecher
Simple Kindness quotes by Gary Brecher
My first years on tour, I tried to be super professional by considering the yardages to every feature and hazard. Over time my caddie and I noticed I play better when we keep it simple. Think about the distance you want the ball to fly, and only that number. ~ Rickie Fowler
Simple Kindness quotes by Rickie Fowler
When I was on 'The Golden Girls,' we'd have eight scenes per show. And when 'Seinfeld' came along, they went to, like, 30 scenes a show, which was revolutionary. 'Arrested Development' has probably got 60 scenes per show. It just keeps emerging as this more and more complex thing. I always try to keep it very simple at its heart. ~ Mitchell Hurwitz
Simple Kindness quotes by Mitchell Hurwitz
A friend is someone who can brighten your day with a simple smile, when others try to do it with a thousand words. ~ Rachel
Simple Kindness quotes by Rachel
I wish my real life could be as simple and scripted as it is on television. ~ Nancy Travis
Simple Kindness quotes by Nancy Travis
I have nothing to do with him," L said. "To be completely accurate, I do not even know B. He is simply someone I am aware of. But none of this affects my judgment. Certainly, I was interested in this case, and began to investigate it because I knew who the killer was. But that did not alter the way I investigated it, or the manner in which my investigation proceeded. Naomi Misora, I cannot overlook evil. I cannot forgive it. It does not matter if I know the person who commits evil or not. I am only interested in justice."
"Only... in justice…" Misora gasped. "Then... nothing else matters?" "I wouldn't say that, but it is not a priority."
"You won't forgive any evil, no matter what the evil is?" "I wouldn't say that, but it is not a priority."
"But..."
Like a thirteen-year-old victim. "There are people who justice cannot save." Like a thirteen-year old criminal. "And there are people who evil can save."
"There are. But even so," L said, his tone not changing at all, as if gently admonishing Naomi Misora. "Justice has more power than anything else."
"Power? By power... you mean strength?"
"No. I mean kindness." He said it so easily. ~ NisiOisiN
Simple Kindness quotes by NisiOisiN
Yet Buddhism is four hundred years older than Christianity, and if it's not a universal religion I don't know what a universal religion is. There's also a strong focus on selectionism and the notion that religion plays a functional role in the evolutionary process. But religion is dysfunctional all the time, as well as functional. It's not so simple. ~ Robert Neelly Bellah
Simple Kindness quotes by Robert Neelly Bellah
When we live each day with kindness, compassion, and communicative love, there is no business left unfinished. There are no regrets or words we should have said, but didn't. There is no need for closure or forgiveness or apology of any kind. ~ Tyler Henry
Simple Kindness quotes by Tyler Henry
What happened?" Violet asked Jay, when Mike went to join the girls in the kitchen, giving them a moment alone in front of the fire.
Jay shook his head, his expression dark. "You tell me. One minute you were leaning on me, and the next you passed out. It freaked the shit out of me."
"Claire actually screamed," Chelsea added, rejoining them. She sat down on a wooden chair across from Violet. "I can't believe you didn't hear her. I'm with Jay though-it was pretty scary. You're lucky he caught you before you hit the ground."
Violet cringed. She glanced up at Jay, humiliated. "You…caught me?"
He nodded, and she could tell from the look on his face that he was enjoying this part. A lot. "You're welcome," he said with a completely straight face.
She looked at him again and rolled her eyes, stubbornly refusing to thank him after he'd already so clearly patted himself on the back.
Megan came back in, carrying a mug of hot chocolate, and Claire trailed behind her.
"Be careful," Megan warned quietly, handing it to Violet. "It's kind of hot."
Their fingertips brushed as the mug exchanged hands. Violet locked eyes with the younger girl. "Thank you." She imparted as much meaning as she could in the two simple words and hoped that it was gesture enough, even if only for herself. She felt bad for the things she'd suspected her of doing.
Megan pulled her hand away and glanced down nervously. "You're welcome." Her voice was timid and hesitant.

Simple Kindness quotes by Kimberly Derting
There is a simple maxim that I use to express this situation, 'when tolerance becomes a one way street, it leads to cultural suicide.' ~ Allen West
Simple Kindness quotes by Allen West
In infinite space and time everything develops, becomes more perfect and more complex, is differentiated,is to say nothing at all. Those are all words with no meaning, for in the infinite is neither complex nor simple, no forward nor backward, or better or worse. ~ Leo Tolstoy
Simple Kindness quotes by Leo Tolstoy
The fall of humanity was the fall from the actual to the symbolic. Language abstracts us from the real world; keeping us from direct, intuitive perception. Words, like the ego, are merely guides. Don't mistake them for the real thing. Pull aside the filthy curtains of the social. Language makes an enigma of simple existence; it obscures the true nature of reality and of your self. ~ Tony Vigorito
Simple Kindness quotes by Tony Vigorito
We're all in this human experience together, so let's try to be kind, gracious, and compassionate to each other." - Kailin Gow in Interview ~ Kailin Gow
Simple Kindness quotes by Kailin Gow
There is magic in this sad, hard world. A magic stronger than fate, stronger than chance. And it is seen in the unlikeliest of places.
By a hearth at night, as girl leaves a bit of cheese for a hungry mouse.
In a slaughter yard, as the old and infirm, the weak and discarded, are made to matter more than money.
In a poor carpenter's small attic room, where three sisters learned that the price of forgiveness is forgiving.
And now, on a battlefield, as a mere girl tries to turn the red tide of war.
It is the magic of a frail and fallible creature, one capable of both unspeakable cruelty and immense kindness. It lives inside every human being ready to redeem us. To transform us. To save us. If we can only find the courage to listen to it.
It is the magic of the human heart. ~ Jennifer Donnelly
Simple Kindness quotes by Jennifer Donnelly
I have found that it is the small everyday deed of ordinary folks that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love." ~ Gandalf (J. R. R. Tolkein ~ The Hobbit) ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Simple Kindness quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
To really know what progress we're making for children, we have to know how many children we have to begin with. The simple act of counting is an expression of a country's intent to take care of its people. ~ Harry Belafonte
Simple Kindness quotes by Harry Belafonte
We bowed our heads together, and I prayed and then Nimmie prayed. Hers was a beautiful, simple prayer, beginning in faith and repentance and ending with joy and praise. ~ Janette Oke
Simple Kindness quotes by Janette Oke
Grant that I have enough suffering that my heart really opens to the great compassion of this world, that I be given enough so that I don't wall myself off from the world, that it breaks down the heart and the separation and the ego and the fear, and it lets me touch the nectar, the milk of kindness itself, of something greater. ~ Jack Kornfield
Simple Kindness quotes by Jack Kornfield
I always hope that young people will think for themselves and also most importantly, understand that they should judge themselves on their own merit, their good deeds, however simple, to not judge themselves by what they have materially, by what other people think of them, through social media. ~ Patti Smith
Simple Kindness quotes by Patti Smith
The things we do today - sowing seeds, or sharing simple truths of Christ - people will someday refer to as the first things that prompted them to think of Him. ~ George Matheson
Simple Kindness quotes by George Matheson
But remember that good intentions pave many roads. Not all of them lead to hell. ~ Neal Shusterman
Simple Kindness quotes by Neal Shusterman
I keep everything hidden because there's nothing about my true self that anyone likes. I'm not difficult, Sebastian. I'm the easiest person around. I don't belong, and I spend all my time pretending I do. Sometimes I get weary of it, and that makes me angry.
It's not fair to the people around me when I lose my temper. I say awful things when I'm angry. But it's not fair to me, either, that I was made this way. ~ Courtney Milan
Simple Kindness quotes by Courtney Milan
When life tends to get too complex, too fast, too cluttered, too deadline oriented, or too type A for you, stop and remember your own spirit. You're headed for inspiration, a simple, peaceful place where you're in harmony with the perfect timing of all creation. ~ Wayne Dyer
Simple Kindness quotes by Wayne Dyer
I'm not taking a chance. I feel like I can't breathe without you. I'm just doing what I need to do to survive. It's as simple as that."
"Then let me be your air," he says quietly. ~ M. Leighton
Simple Kindness quotes by M. Leighton
Economy, prudence, and a simple life are the sure masters of need, and will often accomplish that which, their opposites, with a fortune at hand, will fail to do. ~ Clara Barton
Simple Kindness quotes by Clara Barton
Some people put more effort and money into the wedding day than they do into the marriage itself, then it's all downhill from there. I was happy for a simple start; things could only get better. ~ Sam Torode
Simple Kindness quotes by Sam Torode
At the very least, people who get subsidies should have to get up in the morning and do something, even if it's a make work job. But most liberals would oppose even this simple test of responsibility. ~ James Cook
Simple Kindness quotes by James Cook
The Ancient Treatise to Become Rich. 'Becoming rich needs a simple skill Save one-sixth of the income you earn Turn it into capital through your will For without capital there is no return Ensure that you create multiple sources of Income Live off the returns and your life will reach its prime Destruction of wealth comes with recognisable symptoms Protect it by doing the right things that fits the ~ Khun S. Kumar
Simple Kindness quotes by Khun S. Kumar
Our self-respect tracks our choices. Every time we act in harmony with our authentic self and our heart, we earn our respect. It is that simple. Every choice matters. ~ Don Coppersmith
Simple Kindness quotes by Don Coppersmith
I found that when you start thinking and saying what you really want then your mind automatically shifts and pulls you in that direction. And sometimes it can be that simple, just a little twist in vocabulary that illustrates your attitude and philosophy. ~ Jim Rohn
Simple Kindness quotes by Jim Rohn
When I was 15, I came downstairs one morning, picked up mother's newspaper and, oh, what a shock! The Titanic had gone. The 'unsinkable' ship - but it had gone down so simple. ~ Henry Allingham
Simple Kindness quotes by Henry Allingham
Sometimes love is a surprise, an instant of recognition, a sudden gift at a sudden moment that makes everything different from then on. Some people will say that's not love, that you can't really love someone you don't know. But, I'm not so sure. Love doesn't seem to follow a plan; it's not a series of steps. It can hit with the force of nature
an earthquake, a tidal wave, a storm of wild relentless energy that is beyond your simple attempts at control. ~ Deb Caletti
Simple Kindness quotes by Deb Caletti
Kindness is always more powerful than rightness, because rightness is only right but kindness is always right but with kindness. ~ Debasish Mridha
Simple Kindness quotes by Debasish Mridha
What is missing in our time is not the willingness of God to
act in biblical ways, but the willingness of his people to believe
he is still the God of the Bible - and to act on that faith. To throw
away fear, to stride against common wisdom, to risk all that we
have and all that we are so we may follow only our simple belief
that the God of the Scriptures is still alive and that he will still
do what he says in his Word. ~ Wes Moore
Simple Kindness quotes by Wes Moore
People spend way too much time with hatred, jealousy, and drama when kindness is so easy. Grab a hold of the good things in life; they'll take you to places you've never been. ~ Ron Baratono
Simple Kindness quotes by Ron Baratono
And whatever the form of your own resurrection, you will arise, driven not by the Great Search, but by your own Great Duty, your limitless Dharma, the manifestation of your own highest potentials, and the world will begin to change because of you. And you will never flinch, and you will never fail in that great Duty, and you will never turn away, because simple, ever-present awareness will be with you now and forever, even unto the end of the worlds, because now and forever and endlessly forever, there is only Spirit, only intrinsic awareness of just this, and nothing more. ~ Ken Wilber
Simple Kindness quotes by Ken Wilber
And sometimes we discuss frightening and troublesome animals that might be nearby, and this topic always leads to much disagreement over which part of a frightening and troublesome beast is the most frightening and troublesome. Some say the teeth of the beast, because teeth are used for eating children, and often their parents, and gnawing on their bones. Some say the claws of the beast, because claws are used for ripping things to shreds. And some say the hair of the beast, because hair can make allergic people sneeze. But I always insist that the most frightening part of any beast is its belly, for the simple reason that if you are seeing the belly of the beast it means you have already seen the teeth of the beast and the claws of the of the beast and even the hair of the beast, and now you are trapped and there is probably no hope for you. ~ Lemony Snicket
Simple Kindness quotes by Lemony Snicket
Cat herding is simple. Just drag a string behind you. ~ Aaron Dennis
